I'm not sure Farage is sending the correct message with the latest UKIP poster...there are many expatriots living and working abroad.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has defended a poster campaign claiming millions of Europeans are after British jobs as "a hard-hitting reflection of reality".

The posters - with messages including a warning British workers are "hit hard by unlimited cheap labour" - come ahead of May's European elections.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage will launch UKIP's campaign for the European and local elections later in Sheffield.

Labour MP Mike Gapes attacked the UKIP posters as "racist"

A young man named David bought a donkey from an old farmer for £100.00.

The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. When the farmer drove up the next day, he said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news...the donkey is on my truck, but he's dead."
David replied, "Well then, just give me my money back."
The farmer said, "I can't do that. I went and spent it already."
David said, "OK then, just unload the donkey anyway".
The farmer asked, "What are ya gonna do with him?"
David said, "I'm going to raffle him off", to which the farmer exclaimed, "you can't raffle off a dead donkey!"
David, with a big smile on his face, said "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody that he's dead."
A month later the farmer met up with David and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"
David said, "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two pounds a piece and made a profit of £698.00."
Totally amazed, the farmer asked, "Didn't anyone complain that you had stolen their money because you lied about the donkey being dead?"
David replied, "The only guy who found out about the donkey being dead was the raffle winner, when he came to claim his prize. So I gave him his £2 back plus £200 extra, which is double the going value of a donkey, so he thought I was a great guy."
David grew up and eventually became the Prime Minister of Britain, and no matter how many times he lied or how much money he stole from British voters, as long as he gave them back some of the stolen money, most of them thought he was a great guy.

Long-term unemployed people will have their benefits cut unless they visit a Job Centre every day, work for free or undertake training, under new rules which have now come into effect.

The rules will apply to anyone who has not found a job after two years on the existing Work Programme scheme.

The government says the new scheme - called Help to Work - is "absolutely not" intended to punish jobless people.

Those who fail to take part could lose jobless benefits for fixed periods.

Jobseeker's allowance (JSA) can be suspended for four weeks for their first failure, then 13 weeks for a second failure.

It is thought the new rules will affect 200,000 people.

Look on the bright side, you have a golden oppertunity to gain 6 months unpaid work experience stacking shelves in poundland.
This valuable training will open up the prospect of being an employed shelf stacker in poundland, if poundland stops using forced labour and actually employs workers instead of sucking off the government teat that is.
Live in the hope of the glorious day when poundland will actually pay people to work.

The thin end of the wedge perhaps?

Pretty soon there will probably be a lot more councils following suit.

Three-weekly collections for black bag rubbish have been approved by a Welsh council for the first time.

The new system approved by Gwynedd council will start in certain areas in October.

The council said its weekly kerbside recycling and food collection services justified the three-week system.

Gwynedd is thought to be the second council in the UK to introduce household rubbish collections every three weeks, after Falkirk in Scotland.

On the face of it it does make sense.
Between the recycling and composting there is a huge reduction in the overall amount going in to the black bins.
I notice they spot the obvious problem with diapers.
So the real question is, will making weekly collections to an ever changing number of individual houses cost more than they save with the switch to 3 weekly collections?

(1) How the hell visiting your job center everyday will help anyone back to work? My center has closed the job search machines! As for work for free I see charity shops have said sod off to the idea. Placing a person some where will cost money which the government has said there is no money for work placements or training!

UK deficit untouched, city bonuses un-restricted ...pensioners savings plundered to restore Bank balances! Spot on quote..

Snip its from Mitch Feierstein blog, author of Planet Ponzi.

George Osborne’s UK Budget He might as well claim that the budget will be balanced by fairies selling pixie dust to leprechauns.

Take the property markets first of all. We live in a time when “ghost gazumping” has become the new normal in the London property market (and will soon, surely, become common elsewhere)....

Despite a free-floating exchange rate, Britain’s manufacturing sector is 11 per cent smaller than it was in 2008 – a performance far worse than either Germany or the US. Our infrastructure spending is limp. Our science budget inadequate.....

The one concrete, lasting achievement of Mr Osborne’s term in office so far has been a thumpingly large increase in the national debt....

The simple fact is that Mr Osborne has failed to recalibrate the economy on any major count. He has failed to deliver his fiscal plans. The current growth spurt is based on the two false pillars of (unsustainable) consumer spending and an (ill-advised) property bubble. Manufacturing is weak. Capital investment, both public and private, is feeble. Our banks are still inadequately capitalised and do little to support the real economy. On none of these counts does Mr Osborne have a credible riposte....

The truth is, you can put lipstick on a pig but it will still oink like a pig and act like a pig. Mr Osborne can wield the make-up all he likes. All I can hear is the oinking....
Like that last bit, I think I will have that for my sig. :har:

Another blow for the unemloyed perhaps?

Benefits risk to jobseekers refusing zero-hours contracts
Jobseekers risk losing their benefits if they turn down certain zero-hours contracts without good reason, the government has said.

Until now, people on Jobseeker's Allowance could refuse to accept such jobs without facing penalties.

But the new universal credit system demands that people take up the casual contracts - even though they do not always guarantee work.

Hardly at the moment a blow, you just don't apply to them if you can see it in the description. Agency's are all zero hours around here and they tell a pack of lies about the jobs they advertise. Speaking to a person I know about this and they said its all to do with selling your information and I have to agree.

I have noticed this year alarming amount of emails from agency's and job sites I have never heard of or out of my sphere asking all kinds of questions. I mark them as spam so I don't have to read them again. Today in my spam box I have rec'd over 35 emails and probably go to over 40 by tonight.

David Cameron has told the BBC he is "upbeat, bullish and optimistic" that he will succeed in renegotiating the UK's relations with the European Union.

He said he would "absolutely" give a cast-iron guarantee that a referendum would be held by the end of 2017.

Asked if that meant he would recommend voting to leave the EU if he failed to get the changes he wanted, he said he was confident the talks would succeed.

EU
UKIP will do very well on votes and may increase their MEP's

Conservative's will loose votes to UKIP and take a knocking, question is how hard.

Labour will increase their vote by how many?

Liberal's will take a beating from all the other party's.

Council
UKIP will increase the number of votes at the council elections but the big question how many councilors will they get?

Conservative's will loose votes to UKIP and Labour, will it weaken their chances next year?

Labour will increase their vote more but that vital swing they need for next year will it be there?

Liberal's another bad night as they loose there core ground roots votes and may even take a knocking from the smaller party's.

To be fair, none of the big 3 have any decency between them. All are as bad. But the main reason I am going with UKIP, and voting today as well, is to get us out of that corrupt and damned EU. Mickael Gorbatchev summed them up nicely when he said that - 'the EU is even worst than the Soviet Union at the height of the cold war' - and that says it all.

yep, labour used it for years. I simply cannot understand people voting labour after the farce of their last government. And before anyone says wellllll, this one is just as bad - no it isn't. They inherited a total meltdown of law and order, immigration unlimited on Blairs orders. Pensions stolen by Brown, and then the unions tried to blame Cameron. Economy in the hands of Brussels via Gordon Brown. Some people need to get a life, seriously. Labour have done worse than if Hitler had got in, Lord Sutch making PM, Napoleon, Hadrian, William the conqueror, and Kaiser Bills batman. The UK has been totally and irrevokably screwed.

And what about the 18 years of Tory power under that bitch Thatcher and then John Major?????

Red Devil
05-22-14, 11:02 AM
I have got to answer that. Firstly, no need for insulting the dead.

Fact: You like many others are a victim of socialist anti Thatcher propaganda. I was here at that time, were you?

The real culprit was Scargill, the miners communist leader. Just like Red Ken on the docks, they both used their members to fight the Tories when in power. Strange that they never had any problems under labour governments. Why do you think thousands of miners went off on their own and formed the Democratic Miners Union. It wasn't because they loved Maggie, they were all staunch labour voters.

Scargill in this case, deliberately manipulated the miners into strikes, and, coupled with bring in a rent a mob, fought a personal war against 'that woman'. He did not like a woman being in power, let alone a tory one. He was a typical male We are the bosses, person. He thought women should be in kitchens or in beds.

You, Boss, like many thousands of others, who were not even there, believe what was spouted in Comprehensives etc. It never happened. The mines were not closed to 'spite the miners' - they had become far too dangerous to work in and it was miners themselves who shut them down because it would have cost billions to make right the damage caused by the strikes. A lot of mines collapsed and were flooded because Scargill ordered the pumps switched off, oh he knew what he was doing alright.

Another myth that Maggie is blamed for is 'stealing the milk from children' which was spread about by Labour.

What she DID do was stop the milk because 1. The kids hated it. It was always warm, because in winter, it was parked next to the radiators. And 2. Thousands of gallons a day was being poured down the drain. 3. I remember school milk - it was vile and made us have stomach aches. There were no cold rooms or fridges in schools in those days. Labour knew this, which is why it was never reinstated.

BossMark
05-22-14, 11:20 AM
Hey Mr Red Devil you ask if I was there, well mate I was a coal miner for 23 years 1980 to 2003 when the Selby coal field shut down.
And no I dont blame Thatcher entirely Scargill was an idiot and walked straight in to the Tory trap, he should put it to the vote then things may have well been different then, but he was right on one account on how many pits the Tories wanted to close, and they lied through their teeth about that, until all came out in January 2014.

Not right atm but a few lines to BM and RD if I may.

I remember school milk (approaching 57 years of age)

I was a police officer during the miners strike and on occasion was called upon to confront 'flying pickest'

Scargill made it personal between Maggie and himself and as such was equally guilty of engineering the problem via means of denying his membership a vote

More pits were closed under a Labour government than those during Tory rule

I'm eternally grateful for the stance Maggie took over the Falklands but the truth is she struck gold on the timing as her popularity at the time was at an all time low and it is highly unlikely she would have enjoyed another term in office

I'm not sure the court case over the property he resides in and is owned by the NUM has been resoved (but I could be wrong)

Last but not least, I'm a Labour Party member but in no way consider either side to be totally right or wrong...I'm certainly not blinkered

As much as I despise the gutless coward, a Lib-Dem King-maker would be better than a UKIP one. Honestly though, I think Labour need to have a good look at the two Eds, because they're not exactly leadership material. Wedge someone into Labours driving seat that isn't under the shadow of the Unions and isn't constantly reacting to the Tories and is instead taking the fight to them actively, then Labour might be able to deliver the killing blow and take the sting out of UKIP.

I have no doubt that Ed Miliband is a good bloke, but it was the wrong brother that got the job.

Red Devil

The thing is labour voters are too brainwashed or stuck in the mud to vote any other way. Their party is so corrupt and leaders should be in prison, and yet the voters still give them a tick, weird. Then they spend 4 years complaining. Labours results in the council elections was as a direct result of the other parties votes going to the UKIP. They didnt actually WIN anything but defaulted.

I really honestly cannot understand why people vote for this trash (Labour). They dont give a damn about their voters, dont care about the people and certainly do not care about the country. In some constituencies, a labour candidate can get elected by having his name on a sheet of paper, and never be seen by anyone - ever!

Nuts to Tower Hamlets clearly they have OD on hot chocolate last night.

The Conservatives clearly lost but that lost was not as great as predicted which results in a tougher fight to get back into power but not impossible, dam.

The Liberals clearly being the biggest loser's and the question stands will they have enough MP's to form a another coalition after the general election?

UKIP biggest winners of the night, I didn't expect them to win one council but they have made a start with a big increase in councilors. They clearly are now the 4th party but can they build on it only time will tell.

Labour had a good night but not a great night and I have said on here people don't trust the two Ed's more so for Ed Balls. As for Ed Milliband this has been a wake up call for him riding high in the polls but polls are not votes. Labour now sees walking in to No.10 is not going to be a cake walk as the polls had them thinking.

As it stands Conservatives and Labour have got a tough battle ahead as UKIP snipers take hard shots from the side lines picking up on votes. At best they may get one MP next year. As for the liberals its a case of the survival and for them to think can we risk another coalition with the Tories if they win another hung parliament?

And I am with STEED about the two Eds so maybe Mr Miliband will show some balls and get rid of Mr Balls.

Yes it was a very good night for UKIP but I am not sure about Nigel Farage, to me he seems a closet Tory.

Strangely only very few do that and even fewer govt bother to turn out. At last the votes that do count are representative of the population. It says: "We consider it vital that at the 2015 General Election the Party should be led by someone who will receive a fair hearing about our achievements and ambitions for the future.
"It is clear to us that this person is not you, as the loss of so many of our hard-working councillors highlights.

I was hoping a bit better result for Labour but not surprised at the UKIP surge.
And the Lib Dems got what they deserved a damned good hiding, so what now for Clegg will he do the honourable thing?

BNP lost bothe their seats...no big surprise there then.

Biggest surprise for me was the fact LibDems held onto one of their twelve seats.
