You can script it in using ME but you need an above average system to allow the many units the scenario calls for.

Hello jimbuna, thank you for reply. Can you make PLEASE this single mission "Op. Deadlight" for GWX? I have to activate XXIII mod for GWX?

What if I want to realise the operation Deadlight with the type XXI or VII or IX? I just want to type XXIII as AI in op. Deadlight.

Is please possible to make such little and short single mission for GWX?:Kaleun_Salivating:

That was not a promise or a guarantee mind....there are so many mods out there for GWX it is getting harder to make single missions that are broadly compatable withe everyones installations...certainly more so than the ones I created specifically for GWX3.0 prior to its release.

I believe they are Portuguese markings on that plane. I can't remember the aircraft type but I believe an american one landed in Portugal during the war and it was commandeered by their air force and used for coastal patrols. Presumably that's why it appears in GWX.

That's a P-38 Lightning, arguably the second best fighter the USA had in WW2, second only to the P-51 Mustang.

The firepower was impressive and was comprised of one 20MM cannon and four .50 caliber machine guns.

Known by the German Luftwaffe as "Der Gabelschwanz Teufel" (The Fork-Tailed Devil) and to the Japanese as "two planes, one pilot", the P-38 Lockheed Lightning was light years ahead of its time. Designed as a high-altitude interceptor and contrary to what some think, the P-38 was not just a fighter; it also carried high explosive and incendiary bomb loads -- competingwith the early WWII bomber aircraft (with bomb loads of up to 4000 pounds). It was the fighter of choice for pilots.

Approximately 10,000 P-38's were built, and they flew in every combat theater, around the world during WWII.

Or arguably not. Against the Japanese, and used properly, it gave us the two highest scoring American aces, but it killed one of them. Against the Germans it was so inferior that it ended up being relegated to bombing and reconaissance roles. The P-47 was certainly better.

The problem with the screenshot is the Portugese markings.

Ok. I'll upload it soon. This is my version of storm. But I must tell you about little problem: In every ship's .val file, you have to put the value of depth = -0,5 (see screenshot #1)
During the storm (wind speed 15 m/s) appeared the lifeboats when the wave covered the ship...

From what I read, the British ordered the P-38s made with propellers that rotated the same direction (the standard had contra-rotating propellers) and without superchargers. This would certainly help to explain the poor performance they realized with this plane. If I find the source, I'll post it.

I wasn't talking about the British. After a good initial start P-38s fared poorly against the Germans.
On 25 August 1943, 13 P-38s were shot down in a single sortie by Jagdgeschwader 53 Bf 109s without achieving a single kill. On 2 September, 10 P-38s were shot down, in return for a single kill, the 67-victory ace Franz Schiess (who was also the leading "Lightning" killer in the Luftwaffe with 17 destroyed). Kurt Bühligen, third highest scoring German pilot on Western front with 112 victories, recalled later: “The P-38 fighter (and the B-24) were easy to burn. Once in Africa we were six and met eight P-38s and shot down seven. One sees a great distance in Africa and our observers and flak people called in sightings and we could get altitude first and they were low and slow.” General der Jagdflieger Adolf Galland was unimpressed with the P-38, declaring, "it had similar shortcomings in combat to our Bf 110, our fighters were clearly superior to it." Experiences over Germany had shown a need for long-range escort fighters to protect the Eighth Air Force's heavy bomber operations. The P-38Hs of the 55th Fighter Group were transferred to the Eighth in England in September 1943, and were joined by the 20th, 364th and 479th Fighter Groups soon after. P-38s soon joined Spitfires in escorting the early Fortress raids over Europe.

It has been so long since my last patrol that I almost forgot how to make the darn U-boat GO! Caught two small merchies west of Gibralter. The weather was good enough to bag the first with my deck gun. Heading to Grid AL west of Ireland.

Hi folks, this is my first post so go easy. Been playin for a few years but never really bothered with any mods until recently when i got the grey wolves one. Excellent.

Well out on patrol 3 i came across this Ore Carrier, MV Empire Charmian, so i decided it was time for her to make acquaintance with the seabed. After one shot in the bow she started to slowly go down, so i came in and hit her a few times with the deck gun. Here is the Aftermath:

what do you see? Just a "normal" merchant ship? With some containers on deck. Realy just a normal ship?

http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff458/rowi58/CCoM-InGameScreenShots/HH_01014.jpg

This ship i made some 3 years ago as a "Parcel Freighter", slightly modifided up to date. But what do this container contain? Have a look inside.

Two 4.7 inch short barrel guns (from SH4). And how does it works? Have a look on this MOVIE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmt6S3jpfWA&feature=plcp).

That's my kind of "Trap Container" and "Q-Ship".

I feel like making a trip to the East Coast myself now. I have never seen U-464 since the only time I have been to the other side of the Atlantic I refueled from Belchen supply ship. U-464 really looks different from a type IX. The book U-boat War Patrol: The Hidden Photographic Diary of U564 (http://www.freebookspot.es/Comments.aspx?Element_ID=264595) by Lawrence Paterson has great pictures of U-464 by the way.

Sailor Steve

Then your calendar is wrong. I suspect that what has happened is another bogus American 'holiday' in which the actual date is swapped for the nearest Monday so lazy government workers can get another three-day weekend.

there are very few holidays that are on their proper days. Christmas and New years and 4th of July

And it's a travesty; a perversion of history. Columbus landed on October 12, 1492, and that should not be forgotten. That someone interested in historical games would not know that is sad.

i never payed much attention to the Colombian era my specialty is WW2 and a little bit of the cold war... though i do stray to the civil war occasionally and i will tell you why... the darker times in history there are more lessons to learn from them

NOW i made the pic to mock a "holiday" (if you can even call it that) that i don't really care for (the reason it is in a periscope as if i am going to torpedo it). and i even said it is Columbus day in the USA underneath it knowing full well that given the way America does their holidays that days do get mixed and are often celebrated at the wrong day.

also they never really cover Columbus in school (atleast where i went to school for high school and earlier) i expect that college may cover more on the subject IF i take the proper class

Sailor Steve

i never cared for Columbus.
A lot of folks don't. That's cool, but it's also too bad, since that entire period of history is fascinating (most of them are). The whole interrelationship between the Spanish and the Portuguese over being the first to exploit the ocean trade routes to China (the Italians already had a monopoly on the land routes), with the English and the French a little slow to the table, is a study in national greed and the attempt to establish and usurp power, religion and politics at their finest. I've just been reading Peter Padfield's two fine series of books on naval warfare as a tool of economics. Amazing stuff.

any ways my specialty is WW2 and a little bit of the cold war... though i do stray to the civil war occasionally and i will tell you why the darker times in history because there are more lessons to learn from them
My biggest field of study is the development of the warship from 1860 through World War One, including the whys and wherefores of armor and armament. I also delve into the sailing warship, from the ancient galleys to the heyday of sail in the 1700s. I just love the machinery.

NOW i made the pic to mock a "holiday" (if you can even call it that) that i don't really care for (the reason it is in a periscope as if i am going to torpedo it).
And you did a fine job. It was funny. I merely pointed out that today isn't Columbus day.

and i even said it is Columbus day in the USA underneath it knowing full well that given the way America does their holidays that days do get mixed and are often celebrated at the wrong day.
And all I said was that you had the day wrong. :sunny:

I wouldn't count on it. Classes rarely teach you the things you want to know, let alone the things you should know. I've found over the years that the only things we can truly learn are the things we find interesting. Different people are interested in different things, and that's as it should be. Watch for a thread by me on Friday.
