After viewing the latest screenshots and then viewing the beginning of this thread, isn't it amazing how far SH3 has come? It almost seems like a whole different game. I can hardly believe it.
To keep this thread on topic, here is a shot I took while doing a patrol in SH3 the other day with GWX. It was part of a hunter/killer group. There were two light cruisers and two escort carriers. I wasn't in a postion to attack the carriers, but I got the cruisers. This one took an eel to the bow. The other was hit in the bow magazine and lit up like the sun. I had fired a two torp salvo at both cruisers and oddly enough one of my stray torps did manage to hit a carrier amidships, but it didn't even slow it down.:damn:

Considering the depth charge slithered through my hull (that was something to see btw: watching as it hit the top of the deck then slid inside the hull) before going off at point-blank, skin-contact range I consider myself fortunate: port-side electric and diesel are destroyed, aft batteries destroyed. But realistically that shoulda sunk my butt and not just damaged me.

Well kaleuns,I hope it's not off topic,we're talking about the subs here, sharing our fun from the patrols etc.So I've decided to show you what I bought four days ago. Will be doing my best to build it at least as it's shown on the photos below. It's exactly the same model what I've bought, but that guy built it as the functional model,so his VIIC can submerge and surface.I will not go that far (the system for submerging costs app.1400 EUR),but say again,if everything go well,I'll have something similar on my shelf let's say next year.

It was strange, i got a report of a Task Force heading South East towards Germany. It looked like they were comming from Scapa Flow, they were really close to Norway, its June 1940, maybe they were reinforcing the British Blockade of Germany, but they never made it. And The German Airforce only showed up at the last minute and the DD wasnt even firing back at them.
I hate it when you stalk a ship for a long while, carefully position yourself, and are then treated to the sight of some cocky flyboy stealing your tonnage. From hells gate I stab at ye, Axis aircraft AI.

Judging from this post http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=107388
and with SH4 almost here, there will be lots of newer skips at subsim, it may be a good idea to do an illustrated guide at posting screens to help them and others out. Maybe this has been done? If not, now is a good time:yep:

Sunk by U-109 in AM51, Nov 1939.
I was returning to Wilhelmshaven with only 2 eels left after racking up 60,000+ tons when I received a report of a convoy due west of me, sailing at 6 kts east.
So it was an easy intercept.
I managed to remain undetected, & fired the 2 torps at about 4000m. One was aimed at the bow (below the first turret) and one at the stack.
Unfortunately somehow I got detected (at night, at persicope depth, 2 kts silent running  ) & the whole convoy started to weave.
My first trop missed just forward of the BB's bow, but the second hit. The Revenge sank soon thefeafter.

This was taken in the early days of SH3, pre-mod.
Can't remember much about this patrol, except that I exhausted all my torps and deck gun ammo taking down this convoy. I was in a Type VII then.
IIRC it was lightly escorted (maybe only one armed trawler or DD) & I went for that first. After it went down... well the fox was in the hen house!

Biggles I often speculate that when we come across a burning ship
in convoy under these circumstances
I speculate that it has taken previous damage often and most likely
by a German aircraft or occasionaly an AI sub. as for surface combatants
I imagine that would be more rare excepting maybe the channel

i think its more likely that the heavy sea is damaging ships sometimes.

I think you're right. This is from wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focke-Wulf_Fw_200
The Fw 200 was built to a Lufthansa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lufthansa) specification with Dipl.-Ing. Bansemir as project director, it first flew in July 1937 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1937) after just under one year of development with Dipl.-Ing. Kurt Tank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Tank) in the controls. The aircraft was a simple development of a pre-war commercial craft. It was an all-metal construction, four-engined monoplane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoplane) capable of carrying 25 passengers up to 3000 km. To adapt it for wartime, hard-points were added on the wings for bombs, the fuselage was extended and strengthened to create more space and front, aft and dorsal gun positions were added. The extra weight of the improvements meant that a number of early Condors would break-up on landing, a problem that was never entirely fixed. Later models were equipped with radar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar).

I was cajoled into drawing in the 5th grade when the teacher asked if I was participating in a county-wide school art contest. When I hemmed and hawed she said, "You are," and handed me a sheet of poster paper. I ended up winning the contest and went onto win several more art shows in high school (mostly charcoal and pen and ink). :know:
Got my start into photography when I was a teenager and mother was the editor of a local paper. There was a story that needed covering but no reporters around. Mom handed me one of those old Yashica twin-lens reflex 120mm cameras (the kind you looked down into view finder), a pad of paper and sent me off. Though I was nervous, I wrote an adequate news story and took some decent photos! :D

1434 Chris "That BB is the Rodney and I've just hit her in the bow"
1435 Jim "Well done, I tend to go for the boilers first so if they don't sink then at least they stop and you can finish them off when the escorts leave them"
1440 Chris "Jim, she's ploughing into the sea head first but still moving"
1441 Jim "Give her a little time and keep an eye on them escorts"

We receive a convoy report heading towards Londonderry at west ireland
A big juicy convoy with only 3 escorts
Here my first attack:

Suddenly a destroyer is hit by a torpedo as I attack a merchant.
Now, I decide to kill all escorts!
My second pray:

Meanwhile, with only 1 escort left I decide to surface and sink some damaged merchants and a passenger liner:

It is nalmost night when I got the last escort, damaged he turns by and runs at 6 knots aside the convoy.
http://www.directupload.net/images/070410/temp/ud7di8nn.jpg (http://www.directupload.net/file/d/1028/ud7di8nn_jpg.htm)

I was gonna say steve that you left out the Breaking up pic but I

"And the intrepid kaleun realised that he should have used four or five more eels, as the intended victim sailed serenely over the horizon..."
