I was honestly struggling to remember if the original/stock version had barrage balloons in or not
No, I think you guys created those. I always found it funny when a ship was flying four or even eight of them.
Oh, I finally started watching the new Doctor Who a few weeks ago. I only mention it here because I just remembered the episode in 1941 London with Rose hanging from the drifting balloon, looking down on a flock of Heinkels on a bombing run.

After checking their papers the ship is allowed to continue on her way. Almost certainly bound for England, but we have no orders to interdict neutral ships at this point.

Well, obviously it's from GWX. The balloons are new, the harbor is unchanged. Sorry I mistyped my meaning. It's not the completely redone new version, which is so much better. But I like seeing the old one again just the same.
I have a question here.
What is the completely redone new version of the harbor?
Is there a mod I am missing?
Thank you.
Thats what i found on my way back the my base. I had no Torpedos left. :damn::nope::shifty: :stare::o You know these Ships? :DL

I am trying to import im my game one or two ships from that mod but the game crashes every time.
It is not a memory issue since I added two more ships of the MFM.
Are the MFM and the CU mods incompatable since they both change files in the Library folder?

I'm familiar with the first but not the latter, so please don't take this as gospel. That being said, the fact they both add to the library folder is unlikely to be a cause for incompatibility unless they happen to be altering the exact same files. More often than not, various mods add different files to the 'library' and all co-exist quite nicely.
In the case you've described, I would suspect a configuration issue as the likely cause for the CTD's. Again I'm saying this from a distance, but based on my experience this has usually been the culprit when I've backtracked to discover why new units are causing a crash.

The CU doesn't change the same files in the Library folder as MFM but it changes files like gun_radars.dat etc.

Be off Uruguay in December '39. The ships aren't necessarily better, but, as German fighter pilots used to say, "Too many hounds are the death of the wolf."
Hi VONHARRIS,
Thanks. The last one is a converted "Fishing Trawler" from SH4. Trainer1942 aka Nautilus did this job. I'm not absolutly sure, but you can find this converted ship here: ftp://hartmuthaas.no-ip.org/Volume_2/Sharing/SH3COMMUNITYMODS/TRAINER1942_NAUTILUS42/

I'm not surprised. Six 11" guns vs four 6" guns. Even shooting only one turret, your 5.9" secondaries are more than a match for him.

Well the best one was "Major" Erich Hartmann. He claimed 352 aerial victories and is the highest-scoring fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare. Goering was just talking, i bet they didn't had a fitting plane for him so he had to quit. :O:

Yes, I'm aware of Hartmann and his record. There were more than 100 German aces during the war with 100 kills or more. My point was that in his prime Goering was a fine pilot, and a good squadron leader.

If you're talking about the 'start campaign' splash screen, (the one with the start button on the bottom right), then you can simply take a blank template and add your own art.
Once done, you'll need to convert and rename the image to startcampain.tga and place it in the 'SH3\data\Menu\Data' folder.
Here's a template you can work from:

Given the tactical situation , no
The destroyer should have called for backup and soon more of his friends would arrive either to sink the Unoot or to pick up survivors.
Moreover the proximity to land increaces the chances of them being rescued.

Check out my 'Brunsbuttel' pictures in Post #9700. That's the way it looks for me most of the time. My pictures just above are not as good because it's at an angle in very bright daytime, so there's more glare.
Hans Uberman
10-24-11, 06:38 PM
The water looks the same as your images in post #9700, above the water. It's when I view the sub with the camera underwater where it's an excessively bright blue, where I can see the boat quite a distance.
In any case, it's dark while viewing it underwater now, so I'm good. (Got it working halfway between posting this.) Before it was extremely light-colored baby blue.
Sailor Steve
10-24-11, 07:51 PM
Ah, I see. I used SH3 Commander to make the water so foggy that from the bow of the boat you can barely make out the conning tower. Then again I take some screenshots, but other than that never use the underwater view.

I adjust the gamma and turn the clarity down in Commander so I don't really have an issue with it. For me the 'dark blue' surface helps seal the deal. Much better than anything I've tried before. :yep:

I have something that will blow you all out of the water!
Okay. Returning home from Narvik, I come across a lone S-class submarine (unfortunately, I didn't record the time). Attack! Two torpedoes, boom. Deck gun and AA gone, leaving me to attack with the deck gun.
2 in game hours go by. After hitting it with an additional 5 torpedoes, 180 rounds of 10.5 cm, 800 rounds of 2cm and 350 rounds of 3.7cm AP, I resort to ramming the damn thing.
http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab303/MissingName/S1.png
Now note how light it has gotten on my 4th successful ramming (and 700 3.7cm AA rounds).
http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab303/MissingName/S2.png
Finally, at around 4:00, reinforcements arrive. 4 Stukas come in and swoop in on the target.
http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab303/MissingName/S3.png
That didn't work. At around 5:10, the Luftwaffle tries again with 16 Stukas.

And again at 5:40 with three more.

At this point, the damn thing is making maybe 5 rpm's and the entire boat is black with impacts. How can anyone even be alive on that thing?
I get impatient and crank up the time acceleration. Crash to desktop at around 6:30 - I think another wave of aircraft were inbound. Where can we get one of these boats? :hmmm: I took out the HMS Nelson with "only" four torpedoes earlier in the patrol!

You're operating out of Narvik, but you seem to have Mediterranean aircraft skins enabled. :O:

I prefer the way they look. Realistic? No. BUT NEITHER IS THAT BRITISH SUB.

I've got removing the S class from the campaign files on my to-do list. The first time I torpedoed one, (and then proceeded to watch it stay afloat seemingly indefinitely), it was mildly amusing. Trouble is, it wears thin awfully fast.
I'm hoping to get to this soon, so I can wave bye-bye to the little buggers once and for all. :O:
Just a few random shots from various encounters and so lack a cohesive "storyline". I wish SH3 would hide the "Game Paused" thing to make taking screenshots much easier.

Just press the Del key on the NumPad.
NIce shots. I liked the one with the British flag just over the surface.
Number pad/Del hides the whole interface including "Game Paused".:03:

I saved the sinking of a small trawler. Forgot to save before sinking the HMS Nelsol and encountering SuperS. :damn:

After sinking our second C2 Cargo Ship in two days, one of my crew-members snapped this photo (why he did this while manning the flak gun I'll never know.)

Yeah, just fooling around with photoshop guys, Tried to give it an old worn WWII look, nothing too special and it took me about 5 minutes but I hope you enjoy it.

Doesn't that feel so cool when you run into another boat out there?! Ok it's just a AI boat, but still it always gets me yelling THOMSEN!!!! myself.:DL
Never seen a type IX though. I only seem to find type VIICs. Did see a 'flak trap turm' boat off Africa one time. That was interesting.
