I was just trying out some of the new mods, and playing the 'Wolves At War' practice scenarios. Thought I'd play the good old 'Happy Times' single mission, and was having so much fun I took some pictures. They really aren't in that order, as the first "Help!" sequence is from the tanker I sank and the later nighttime ones are from the troop ship. I got those because I ran right beneath those guys while the escorts were looking for me.

The "To the rescue" shot was from when I was looking at the escorts that join up in that mission, and I noticed the tanker I hit first burning in the distance. Couldn't resist making silly captions.

Wow, Jim, that camo really works! The right edge of the first picture was partly off my screen, and I was going to make a comment about the bow wake being out in front of the ship. The I slid it over and realized that I was looking at the painted false bow!:doh:

He was a couple of thousand metres ahed of me :stare:

Speaking for myself-if I remember that correctly-my sub skin is Fubar's Type IX Winter Camo....At least I think it's from Fubar...Don't want to confuse you if you're going to look for it on the net....You know,it's winter camo...I'm in December 41.If I make it to spring 1942 my U-128 will get the new paintjob...But...if I make it....Brits are getting tough...Not mentioning RAF,they send me "to the cellar" couple times a day sometimes.....

Cheers :) , I'll do that in future, one of my other hobbies is photography and I collect vintage cameras so I wanted to see if I could make it look like an image taken with a period german camera on period film (uncoated/poorly coated optics, which are softer than modern types, old monochrome film which has very little sensitivity to red).

I'll have a bash at some colour shots also for this thread, looking out for photo oportunities adds an extra dimension to the game doesn't it?

Racerboys Diesel smoke and Mikhayl´s Schnellboot mod /Racerboys flag. Rubini´s streaming water, all modded to work with my IXBG. Also sergbuto´s cameras mod and rubini´s wide screen mod :rock:with my "vista ati graphic fix". Vista graphic problem came back with Wac enviroment:wah: But luckily I had my fix ready:yeah:
But it is all WIP and not uploaded to filefront:damn::damn:

I took the flag for my IXBG out of Mikhayl´s Schnellboot mod, originally racerboys work.
It works ok, is invisible under water. also made UZO to work same, invisible under water. :DL
I copied from WAC scene.dat and scene.sim files to GWX3 and also whole env folder.
Flag to type II should be possible, as I have type IID Flakship mod I will update it too.:salute:

Sorry to be O/T,but may I interest you in a book Jim? "Wings On My Sleeve" by Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown,in the guiness book of records for flying more types of aircraft than any person ever(487),also for making more carrier deck landings than anyone ever,Arrested by the gestapo on the eve of war and released on the border without them realising he was an RAF reserve:har:He went on to do patrol's with the fleet air arm with the Malta convoys and did battle with the dreaded Condors,shooting down a few,loads more in the book.Its wonderful and I highly recomend it:yeah:

Exactly,highly modified,thats the killer,where as the allies had time to modify,the nazi's didn't,even as early as 1940 the nazi's new that the stuka would never cut the mustard as a carrier aircraft,hence 'winkle' brown finding of all things after the war,A Me109 with an arrester hook:har:(even worse than the Stuka idea:doh:)and a FW190 with one fitted as well,better plane,still crap concept.Even 'winkle'Brown who did more carrier landings than anyone ever in the history of aviation accepted that the Seafire had its limitations,he was the chief test pilot that made the Seafire possible,but only cause he was so good,in the wrong,inexpierenced hands it was a killer!it had terrible stall problems and the nose was to long,also even with the wonderful engine up front it struggled for power if you got a wave on,hence the British trying out the idea of a 'Rubberfoam' deck where planes would land with no undercarriage :doh:Not untill the jet age did he belive you got a true carrier aircraft:03:

One of the problems highlighted by 'Winkle'Brown in his book,he got to interrogate 'Fat boy' as he was known to his jailers and found him sullen and difficult until he mentioned planes,then his eyes lit up and he would talk for hours!Refused to blame Hitler for anything and mostly blamed Bormman
for everything,Quite bizarre really.Brown flew everything that the Nazis had built after the war,his favourite was the Komet rocket plane,the sheer speed took his breath away and once airborne was a fine plane to fly:03:

I have having uploading issues with Photobucket never had this problem with my old rig.
I cant use the bulk uploader as it never shows up my computer files. and when using the the old uploader the upload bar says it has uploaded a certain % of the photos and then freezes. Sometimes a single pic uploads sometime it does not.
Anyone else having dramas with photobucket?
Or does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

Although you don't have to register at Imageshack, I recommend that you do.
It's free, you won't get any spam (you have my word, happy user of 3 years) and if you are registered all your photos are stored in one and the same place if you ever need to find one later. :)

This screenshot may not seem nothing special, but it IS, because its my first kill EVER on career mode (and also, first kill on a subsim). Sunk her with a torpedo, and as I didnt want to wait 10 mins until flooding did its job, I decided to surface and hit her a few times with the deck gun :D
HAha! Now Im proud, I've managed to sink a ship in full realism (everything ticked except dud torpedoes and external camera)

Now you can laugh at my newbieness

You need to turn on dud torpedo's Nothing quite like the frustration of releasing that perfect shot, only for the eel to explode halfway to the target / pass cleanly under the hull, clang into the side of the hull without exploding.

Oct. 23, 1941. 200 miles WNW of Gibraltar. Shadowed the convoy all day, doing end-run at dusk and setting up in attack position at 2200 hrs ahead and slightly outboard of convoy portside column. Mis-timed turn on to attack course due faulty action of helmsman Bernard, resulted in targets closer than expected and off anticipated bearing. Quick re-setting of firing solution by Captain resulted in three targets hit; two sank fairly quickly; the third dead in the water. Dived to 180 m. to avoid escorts, depth-charged by 3 DD's for two hours without damage. DD's finally went off. U-843 circled and came to periscope depth; finished off remaining target.
[note: this game remains awesome. After a short time off for no particular reason, I'm back into it and last night's 4-hour (RL) session was like watching a movie but being in the middle of it. I don't think I've ever had so much action going on at the same time ... had to watch it on F12 ... escorts barely avoiding merchants as I dove under the convoy, a couple of hit targets blowing up, meanwhile being depth-charged by other escorts ... fabulous. Unfortunately the screenies are in the dark, hope they show up ok]

Hi all,

I was heading for my patrol area when i found a circle on the map which means a uboat, I decided to check it out, at first I thought it was one of ours, but turned out to be an S-Class

I wasnt really sure if it could be torped, so I decided to engage with deck gun, since subs sink fast... but then it fired back it went almost 10 mins with us exchanging fire, it was funny as hell.
But really if you could hit a sub with a deck gun, then your a great gunner :doh: :o

I have a video of the fight if any one wants it, its un-edited though, and kind of dark as you see...

Yes, fascinating story, it was carrying Messerschmitt engines to Japan (I wonder why) and its escort was late. how do you torp a u-boat though, couldnt it just dive and stay at the bottom?! or zigzag but up and down instead of left and right.

We slipped into the convoy through the front door at 15m and 1 knot at silent running. Passed the front guard and came up to 12m, scope up and picked 2 targets.
2 T1´s preset to 11m, medium speed and mag. pistol was fired at this Medium tanker. One prematured but the other one hit.
2 T2´s preset to 6m and mag. pistol was fired at an Granville and both hit.
Scope down as soon as the torpedoes left the tubes. Dive to 140m while slowly turning to starboard, keeping us under the ships, still at 1-2 knots.
12 000 tons to the bottom and they never heard us:up:

U-553, VIIc. 7´th Flotilla.

Yep a freak hit (some say) on her aft end by a torpedo causing damage to her steering gear, thus allowing units of the Home Fleet to close on her and pulverise her into submission.

Her sister below necessitated a different means of destructuion.

The first time I've ever penetrated a convoy(Which was supposed to be neutral:nope:) On the surface,early war,and finally sink the HMS Nelson amongst other ships,the compulsion to dive was immense,but staying up top was amazing :yeah:
