guy's, yesturday i got in trouble at Deviantart.com for having SH3 screenshots...
reason: i had "copyrighted" material :doh:

since when are screenshots you take "copyrighted" ??
Kick them on the nuts and call them losers. Then piss on them.
Srsly, they must be hellowa *******s for suin you for showing gameplay pic's?

Srsly exactly, then the excuse was
"Yes, YOU took the screenshots. But that does not make it your property. You did not create the game or the contents inside the screenshots. You cannot post them in your dA gallery."

il tell ya one thing, NEVER go on there What a bunch of losers, you know Ernie Pyle took tons of photo`s of German , Japanese, and Italian equiptment, let alone British, and American. That equiptment, was`nt his, and he won kudos of awards for it. If Ubi did`nt want screenshots taken, they would`nt have setup keypad keys for it in game. They actually did you a favor, drop that site like a hot potato. Puts:down: If Jimbuna says staying away from there is a good idea, I believe him; but I think you guys have missed the point: they weren't complaining about the copyright, even though they used that term; they were complaining that they only want artists to put up their own work, as in stuff they painted/drew/created themselves.
Your deviantART submissions must consist entirely of your own work It's the same as if someone played their favorite song from the radio at a site for musicians to share original music.
There are certain folk who frequent that site who are in a position of influence on the internet (no names no pack drill).

IMHO it is not in any individuals best interest to go posting profanities and argumentative/subjective comments or remarks on that site (even when you feel they're justified) unless you have a way above average security system on your machine.

Just a friendly piece of advice....that's all :yep:
i was furious about the fact they removed most of my work from 2006 to, they never bothered to visit my page untill i posted a WW2 picture... :nope:

Well capsizing is ok with me - even happened to Bismarck... But if by "more realistically" you mean that they should break up the moment they hit the bottom, I second that, that would be nice, even in not-that-deep waters...

I followed this tutorial to get that effect:

With a bit of playing around you can get a similar effect with other applications. The last pic shows it's 'lifting' slightly on the sides, as tape does when it's old and dry.

Hi guys!!

I've just realised....

The pics I posted over the last couple of days, in post #5024 on this thread (previous page), and in the Realistic Photo thread were created on a monitor using 1920 x 1600 resolution, so to me the images were quite small and crisp - blur was slight etc. etc.

However. Today I viewed them on a standard 1024 x 768 screen and they look HUGE!!!

I should have taken that into account when creating them... :doh:

They have lost a lof of their 'impact' now (guess I'm worrying too much).

Oh well.... better luck next time.

Jimbuna, wondering - did you fire two at each, but have them pegged at a little slower than they were going, and hence only the bow shot hit (at the stern) in each case? Or maybe they were perfect stern keelshots, IMO these kinds of shots are the best way to take down a big ship with 1 torp. I feel like the compartments are closer together in the stern.

Is it possible to alter the game resolution btw? I'm getting alot of jagged edges and such, but the pics here look smokin' hot! All in-game graphical settings are on max. I checked the cfg-files and the resolution was set to 1024x800. Any way to make it higher?
You should be able to change it via your graphics card control panel and or the computer control panel under 'Display' > settings tab.
My display resolution in Windows and most other games is set to 1280x1024 but the SH3 in-game resolution seems to be lower, apparently 1024x800. Do you mean that the SH3 resolution should automatically change to the same as the Windows resolution is? I'm not really following you here... :oops:

Gotta correct you there, thats a Royal Navy T-class sub. Not sure what it was doing in the black sea.... Certainly not ideal waters for for a 1,500 ton ocean going sub like that.

I use Photobucket. It resizes automatically. One piece of advice, though: use the NumPad Del key to turn off the interface. Then you'll have an uncluttered picture.

Tks Steve. I'll try that next time ... I knew there was a way to turnn off the interface, but I was too lazy to search for it.

One thing I would like to know if you or anyone else knows ... is there a way to ditch the greyed out pause screen so you can take screenies while paused? (or will NumPad Del key do that also?)

Tks jim, it's a bit of a hoot. Another reason why this sim is so excellent and why my family is no doubt getting the straightjacket ready :yep: . Just gotta keep an eye on my disk space and make sure I clean the shots out. I was hitting Ctrl/PrtSc so often I ended up with 1G of shots in no time.:lol:

They were all Swordfish type. Engaged at mittlere distans. They kept coming and after three hours we had shot down 8 of them with a loss of 2 men. Then came the big assault. 2 more Swordfish downed, but massive damage to the boat and 9 more
men dead:nope: Not sure, but I think there were some Hurricanes in there as well.

They probably came from an carrier in Scapa Flow:hmm:

I'll have some soul-searching to do, as I adopted a house rule a while back that I can't reload from topside storage unless weather conditions would permit in RL. :D

Darn, thought you were asking about diesel consumption, but wasn't sure. :rotfl:

Well, I run manual plots in the navmap (I used to use paper plots, but not real relative plots on plotting sheets) pretty much just based on WO reported range and bearing when available. Together with 3:15 plots for target speed and course. Hydrophone estimated plots when not in visual. For intercepts, I run dead-reckoning against speed/distance tables. Out of WO visual and submerged is a bit dicey. I do things such as relative bearing up and down the convoy line for course, for example. I've just started with OLC's Gui which should improve things submerged, although I havent' actually used it yet. For setting up attacks, I run own plot forward and then into convoy track for desired shoot position and AoB. Although sometimes I just make a wild guess. :D

Always arrive off Calais between 23:00 and 01:00, use the ruler to make marker points to keep you exactly 3000m out. Travel with decks awash at full ahead. With the decks awash speed will be reduced to about 10Kts. The most tricky part is the approach to the port, rather than the port it's self. Always works.

As for it's location, it is scripted into the game in numerous dates and places.

Haven't seen a BB or Carrier in 3 careers, let alone sunk one. But in the last 3 patrols I get a 1 BB a Carrier and a Cruiser.

Think I'll just retire now, can only get worse.
