"bang the rocks to together." :know: :)R U writing The Hitchhiker Guide to :subsim:? :O: My favorite from Douglas Adams: “It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.” But the best are in the Bilge ...at :subsim: where deranged 'mancaving' is a considered... a verb!

Maybe. :)

I like the one on art, as I recall it goes like this..The function of art is to hold a mirror up to nature and there simply isn't a mirror big enough there for there is no art.

One in the eye for the poncy art world. :har:

Would you buy an MG ZT 190 (or the ZT Tourer) ? :hmmm: Good question, I probably would "like" to have a four-wheel drive and a turbocharged car (like TDI) which is standard in principle, anyway, when it comes to engine like as above, it's common that you know.So if it should be a four-wheel drive, it's a little less of opportunities.:hmm2:

Damn! there I go; crossing my T's again! Looks like an interesting job though. I had a stint as the de facto game warden on a large airbase as part of the police force there: mostly deer, feral cats wiTch we fed,:O: birds... and an occasional mountain lion and poachers. The puma was a godsend as it finished off a lot of the road-cripple'd deer and cut back the over-breeding population before moving on. The advised Coast Guard resident's kids were of some concern, but if we'd called Fish and Game they would have darted the animal & possibly killed a perfectly good catamount...as has happened in the past. All the officers particularly enjoyed the wildlife on the large mostly overgrown base.

Good point, on many cleaning products you see how to use but not what you should do if you get lets say a abrasive product on your skin. Even further still lets say you bought a microwave oven at best it will say no tin foil to be placed inside. In many ways it comes down to common sense, but in the case of live ammo you have a very good point there.

Well that B 'cause the 'hood done 'gone to the dogs'!:D "prairie dogs could become the next passenger pigeon." https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/86/PrairieDogTownGregg.jpgSadly, prairie dogs have a history of being methodically exterminated by humans. Long extermination campaigns were so successful that three decades ago naturalists predicted the prairie dogs’ imminent extinction. Biologists now estimate that the prairie dogs have undergone a 98 percent population decline during the 20th century! Of the 5 billion prairie dogs that once existed in the American mid-west, only about 100 million remain today. Prairie dogs exist on only 2 percent of their historical home range. Loss of habitat due to conversion of prairie for agricultural purposes has had a significant impact on the prairie dog population.http://www.takepart.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/dogamgood2.jpghttp://www.conservenature.org/learn_about_wildlife/prairie/prairie_dog.htm

Humans are very good in coming up with new ideas to kill each other, just shows trying to rid the world of the common cold is far too hard for us. Is there any hope for us? Not where I am sitting.

Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

The legend goes, that a man won a lottery and tax laws about gambling state that the taxes gained from the mans winnings go to the local goverment, and not the state. So they decided to fund a beer fountain.

Friends! Honestly, I did not use the boat that much this year, and the year before, I had to change the engine, a brand new, costing 100000 SEK also previously bought a place for the boat costing, 45000 SEK, so the cost was then increased markedly, and then all the peripheral costs as you know, who have a boat, it takes off quite quickly. This was the sixth boat since I did military service, we'll see what happens later.:)

Some people say "If you can't beat them, join them". I say "If you can't beat them, beat them", because they will be expecting you to join them, so you will have the element of surprise.

Think Ninevah not Babylon:Sennacherib, not Nebuchadnezzar II, built the marvel in the early seventh century B.C., a century earlier than scholars had previously thought. Archimedes did not invent the water-screw!!??https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/Archimedes-screw_one-screw-threads_with-ball_3D-view_animated_small.gif (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Archimedes-screw_one-screw-threads_with-ball_3D-view_animated_small.gif) Dalley, who has spent the better part of two decades researching the Hanging Gardens and studying ancient cuneiform texts, believes they were constructed 300 miles to the north of Babylon in Nineveh, the capital of the rival Assyrian empire. She asserts the Assyrian king Sennacherib, not Nebuchadnezzar II, built the marvel in the early seventh century B.C., a century earlier than scholars had previously thought.
According to Oxford University, Dalley, who is a scholar in ancient Mesopotamian languages, found evidence in new translations of the ancient texts of King Sennacherib that describe his own “unrivaled palace” and a “wonder for all peoples.” He also mentioned a bronze water-raising screw—similar to Archimedes’ screw developed four centuries later—that could have been used to irrigate the gardens.
Whereas in former times the kings my forefathers had created bronze statues imitating real-life forms to put on display inside temples, but in their method of work they had exhausted all the craftsmen, for lack of skill and failure to understand the principles they needed so much oil, wax and tallow for the work that they caused a shortage in their own countries – I Sennacherib, leader of all princes, knowledgeable in all kinds of work, took much advice and deep thought over doing that kind of work.... I created clay moulds as if by divine intelligence for cylinders and screws... In order to draw up water all day long, I had ropes, bronze wires and bronze chains made. And instead of a shaduf I set up the cylinders and screws of copper over cisterns....(lost wax casting)I raised the height of the surroundings of the palace, to be a Wonder for all Peoples... A high garden imitating the Amanus mountains I laid out next to it, with all kinds of aromatic plants, orchard fruit trees, trees that enrich not only mountain country but also Chaldea (Babylonia), as well as trees that bear wool, planted within it
Sennacherib could bring the water into his garden at a high level because it was sourced from further up the mountains. He then raised the water even higher by deploying his new water screws (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archimedes_Screw). This meant he could build a garden that towered into the sky with large trees on the top of the terraces – a stunning artistic effect that surpassed those of his predecessors and which justifies his own claim to have built a "Wonder for all Peoples". http://www.history.com/news/hanging-gardens-existed-but-not-in-babylon (http://www.history.com/news/hanging-gardens-existed-but-not-in-babylon) INDEED: "Nuthin good goes outta style" meets "OK BBY when exactly did the style begin?" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archimedes%27_screw (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archimedes%27_screw)

^ well the town of Akrotiri used donkey-driven pumps to supply water to their 3-story-buildings, also with an "archimedic" screw. They were made of wood though. This was in the bronze age around 1600 years b.c., and most probably already used earlier.
The question still is whether Akrotiri was a minoan colony, the spiritual center of the Minoans or just a trade partner of the Minoans. The center of the island with its temples and walls, as depicted on the frescoes, has been annihilated in the latest plinian eruption, around 1600 b.c.

^ has been annihilated in the latest plinian eruption, around 1600 b.c. Plinian eruption... https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/49/Grammar_Nazi_Icon_Text_Bcg.svg/100px-Grammar_Nazi_Icon_Text_Bcg.svg.png (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Grammar_Nazi_Icon_Text_Bcg.svg)Show a little respect ! This is a naval forum:D: Pliny the Elder, an admiral engaged in evacuating the victims, died of asphyxiation (actually probably a heart attack; his companions who left him behind apparently had no problems with fumes) Plinian is therefore capitalized...:Kaleun_Salute: praefect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Praefect) (fleet commander) in the Roman Navy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Navy). On AD August 24, 79, he was stationed at Misenum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misenum), at the time of the great eruption (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_eruption) of Mount Vesuvius (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Vesuvius), which overwhelmed Pompeii (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompeii) and Herculaneum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herculaneum). He was preparing to cross the Bay of Naples (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_of_Naples) to observe the phenomenon directly when a message arrived from his friend Rectina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectina) asking to rescue her and Pomponianus. Launching the galleys under his command to the evacuation of the opposite shore, he himself took "a fast-sailing cutter", a decision that may have cost him his life. The problem with the toxicity theory is that his companions were unaffected by the same fumes, and they had no mobility problems whereas Pliny had to sit and could not rise. As he is described as a corpulent man, who also suffered fromasthma (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asthma), it is hypothesized that his friends left him because he was already dead. His nephew, Pliny the Younger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pliny_the_Younger) provided an account of his death, obtained from the survivors. Pliny the Younger's attention to detail in the letters (104 AD) about Vesuvius is so keen that modern volcanologists (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanologist) describe those types of eruptions as "Plinian eruptions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plinian_eruption)". The nephew and his mother had decided not to go on the voyage across the bay. The fate of fair Rectina who evidently could launch a fleet... is unknown:oops: Pliny the Elder is best known today for mentioning lupus salictarius in his Naturalis Historia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_History_(Pliny)), which is thought to be the earliest known recording of hops...:Kaleun_Cheers:

No doubt they had a system to carry water to the top of the building and let gravity do its thing.

Its just that I wonder how plants were planted. Irrigated soil or hydroponics.
