Hey OLZS..Good evening..:salute:
Your TDW_GenericPatcher settings have you seen your deck wash..
as well as engine management.
after what says yagura could be a cause too..But I doubt it because the storms are not really violent unless you use a specific mod..maybe a "fresh installed" on another machine if you have one ..
Personally I used the DynEnv v2.9 - 8.c Wave Mechanics - Hurricane mod..I didn't have this problem..:ping:
Hi! The reason was that the decks were flooded at a depth of 7.2 meters. These are the default TWoS settings. I changed the flooding of the decks by 7 meters and everything began to work as it should. And my binoculars started working.

On the other hand, what is beyond me, I am at 7m.20 and I have no problem..
Another subject: Be careful when "saving" in my Polish campaign.. avoid "saving" too close to the shores..ships.. there is "CtD" similar to the silent hunter 3.. 4 series. 5..

Is this with the regular steam torpedos or the electric? The early electric can do that with magnetic trigger in bad weather. Could also be bad luck if your getting duds, I've been getting a decent amount recently too and im entering 42'. I even had one in three separate attacks in my patrol last night just turn in circles and almost hit me.

This happens with steam torpedoes; I don’t use electric ones. A strange phenomenon - after deleting the files: torpedos_g7a-e.sim, torpedos_g7a-e.zon and torpedos_AI.sim , failures began to occur with a probability of 100% (I rebooted the game 15 times, fired 4 torpedoes each and everything failed). After returning these files, the refusals again became 50/50. I can't figure out which files are responsible for the behavior of the torpedoes.

Did you ever upgrade your torpedo man? I've never had that bad luck with the steam torps other than duds sometimes.

Do you think it's about the crew skill files? Interesting idea, I'll try to look in this direction.The torpedo man has 3 skill points invested, I didn’t notice any improvements.

Well it shouldn't be that different if we are using the same mod, did you add anything and/or are you sure you installed correctly?

Only "TWOS" and "Die Eisernen Sarge" are installed, everything is installed correctly. Torpedo failure: this is not a disable option for this mod, i want to remove this option from the mod completely. But I don't know which files affect this.

Hello. Just wondering if it is safe to save and reload campaign while sailing between Danzig Bay (from the Baltic Waters mission) to the new home port of Kiel without issue. Not in patrol area but somewhere between the mission area and Kiel. I know there are some savegame issues that can be caused by saving dealing with patrols. Thanks for any help.

If I have no visual contacts around me I assume its safe to save. Had no issues so far, I'm in operation drumbeat.

Would you ever save within the boundaries of an assigned patrol area or would you leave the area before saving/reloading?

When you save/load in your patrol area,your patrol time does't count.You need to get out of your patrol area en get back in...then it will count.

It's been asked before but never really answered. How do I END the patrol? Completed all objectives, sunk 5 ships traveled all the way to new base in Kiel where the boat in the rectangle icon now is, docked, looked for "red anchor" to end patrol--not there. Saved, reloaded, still nowhere to be found. This was the closest thing to an answer before the thread got sidetracked--

"just get near a harbor where there is the symbol of an anchor.

Then check on the upper right if there is a REDDISH anchor, click it and end patrol"

No reddish anchor anywhere that I can see. "Upper right" of what? The map? My screen? Any help would be appreciated.

Ahoi!


When i had this issue in the past, i loaded an earlier save from the past and shiped again to the harbour. When then the anchor icon doesnt appear, i saved again and load the last save, like you also did. Again, the solution was to load another save which was at least 150 km (or was it 50km iam not sure..better use the 150km range) away from the harbour. Then it works.. i had this bug more then once in all the years, so relax and try what iam telling you now.

Did you used an old save (150km +), or just created a new save with such distances? Iam not sure - you need an old save for this. And when you close to the harbour (old save) and you still have no anchor, then make a save and start the game new and load the last save you made.


Btw, i remember, one time i also got this bug in the past and i need to go back 3 or 4 old saves. Unusual and i dont know why i had to use such old saves but then it worked for me. Normally when i have this bug it woked when i used an old save about 150 km + away. Also i playing this game now for many years and this bug is quit often but with this hints it worked always. (actually it works with loading the last save which is a save in front/ inside the harbour too)


Do you have an old save just when you started your actual warfare?? Try to dock with this early saves to test if your actual last saves are maybe broken.

In the first Mission its important not to enter the harbour before the 02.09.1939. https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1791497&postcount=2


And yes, thats what i mean with an old save.


Also, the first Mission is really not an important one for the campaign, so if all this hints doesnt work for you, just go one campaign mission further and have fun with this fantastic TWoS-Mod: - Do I always have to start my career from the first campaign?
No, type "silentotto" while you're in the campaign selection screen to unlock all campaigns and start any you want...:salute::subsim:

Thanks, excel. The old save didn't work for me. I went on to "British Coastal Waters." Hope it lets me dock after that. I'm down to 2 torpedoes and half a tank of gas.

Black window = bad installation.

You need reinstall, follow this instructions.

1/ Complete uninstallation of TWOS and Silent hunter 5.

when I say complete uninstallation I mean complete, don't also forget the files in document.


2/ Clean installation of Silent Hunter 5

Once silent hunter 5 is installed, launch it, and check in the main menu that the version is 1.2.0


3/ Clean installation of T.W.O.S last version

You must follow step by step the TWOS installation instructions. I put the link of the PDF named "The_Wolves_of_Steel_2_2_Install_instructions" here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15415mNt_3fAastih_qT3rz7n2rjmZmmP/view?usp=drive_link

Launched the game, without any mod, nothing, launch a campaign, when you are in the U-Boot-Bunker, save the campaign then return to the main menu and reload your save. Check that there are no display bugs.


4/ Activate mods in the correct order

Just noticed my version of TWoS was 2.2.24. On downloads page it is listed as 2.2.25. Was it updated recently?

I installed mod using a tutorial provided, i also added some other mods including Open Horizons II.
Now when i am launching the game i am not getting that Wolves of Steel splash screen. On main menu it says Open Horizons II.
How can i check if my Wolves of Steel mod is actually working.

This is my first time playing Silent Hunter V, so i am not sure what feature first to check to make sure Wolves of Steel is working

It has been forever (it seems) since I've played my TWoS install, but try removing all mods you've added after installing TWoS, and see if The Wolves of Steel doesn't shine through. Use only mods found packaged with TWoS, unless you have done some deep research on their effect. :salute:

Open Horizons is included in TWoS but tweaked by Vecko (the author of TWoS). Not a good idea to add it to TWoS...

You can add sounds, graphics, etc. to TWoS but anything changing campaign or traffic will provoke CTDs...

I recently dived back into TWoS and ran into the following problem. When pressing the stopwatch stop/reset button or “x” hide button, the stopwatch simply changes to the U-jagd/Annaherung stopwatch or vice versa. I have completely removed and reinstalled SH5 (all mods and folders), tried various compatibility modes, removed all mods, and removed any gaming keyboard software with no effect. I had no issues with patch installation. All other aspects of the game work fine. I have a complete rundown of my system, OS, game installation folder, etc. but was hoping there was an easy fix someone could suggest first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone had a problem with SOAN where the ship images and data never appear.
I re-installed 3x...
It was working on first install then this happened on the Norway invasion mission. All subsequent installs I've been unable to get SOAN working.
SOAN is enabled in options.

In Debug, I just get a filter failure on all ships.

EDT: Forgot to add, Same thing happens on ERM.
I have an AMD PC and graphics card

I read about something like this a long time ago but I don't remember what the solution was.
I could be wrong, but I have a faint memory of security software or something like that. But as I said, I don't remember the solution from then and I can't find this old post about.

But it has nothing to do with AMD hardware! I know that because I use AMD myself and do not have this problem.

Love this modpack but I was wondering if there is any mod that can make most/all radio messages encrypted?

I love the enigma machine but I wish I got to use it more often

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to reinstall TWOS completely and I found a strange thing.

I have an old DVD version of SH5 with an offline 1.2 patch, so it's even more interesting.
I am running Activated fully up to date Windows 10 version with the latest Nvidia driver on my EVGA Geforce 1080.

First I had CTD always when I started a new Campaign and I should appear in docks.
The second - Ubisoft logo which always disappeared after modding didn't disappear.
I tried multiple ways how to fix CTD, and installed everything from scratch (as admin, perfectly by README...) and nothing helped.

Then I Installed everything from scratch again, but with my internet router switched off. At first, I was asked that Ubisoft wanted to install the game (Yes from 20 year old DVD) with the internet but allowed me to install it anyway.
I went through all the process without Internet and it works. Even Ubi logo from game boot disappeared as always.

So if you will have issues with Installing the game from old "offline" installations, try to do it offline. :salute:

Hello, I am a happy owner of a high-end PC and I want to squeeze the best possible high quality picture out of the SH5 TWOS.
Question: is there a ready .nip file for nvidia profile inspector similar to SH3? If so, I would appreciate a link to it, preferably google drive. If not, could you please post what parameters should be changed in profile inspector and to what value? In short, give as much as possible ready settings. I have experimented a lot with settings, there is no sense to list all that I have tried. At the moment I am satisfied with the picture, but it seems to me that it can be improved still. I'm waiting for a reply, thanks!
