Could it be, that Alt+Tab causes the problem to happen?
your issues are probably user related because I really never had them with twos. But , I also rarely alt-tab the game and always use GUI commands for surfacing/submerge. :yep:

press E key and there is upgrade charts and u will see when u get the type VIIB uboat i don't remember exactly which year u will get it ....but also u can edit some file and to add the type VII B uboat but that is a cheat in my opinion and will break the game immersion

Vecko looked into the upgrades situation a while ago and he will probably have a more informative answer for you.
As you have completed Total Germany and still in a VIIA it is probably down to the amount of tonnage you have sunk or you have been penalized for sinking neutral ships.
My BCW has just finished and I only sank 2 ships for less than 10,000 tonnes.
Not easy finding targets when playing 100% as it should be, so I may also be in a similar position to you?

The last recording in the sub is how they should sound, unfortunatelly the audio quality of the recording is very very bad.....

there is a real depth charge sound mod for SH4 made by Sailor Steve u can ask him for permission to import it for Sh5 if u like that sound :D

There is one thing still really **** about this game.

Maybe your audio settings are "****ed up" ?
DC explosion sound is taken from sh3/gwx and it sounds very cool and realistic imo...

Well I canīt be sure of course, but what bothers me the most I think is that the sound cuts off very fast, instead of fading out. Do you have that as well?


Another question, I tried to do a surface attack run, only to discover that the Stadimeter isnīt working with the UZO. How are you supposed to get the targets range when using the UZO?

Try to disable "realistic sound traveling" option in sound settings. That helped in my case.
Stadimeter should work just fine with uzo.

there is a real depth charge sound mod for SH4 made by Sailor Steve u can ask him for permission to import it for Sh5 if u like that sound :D
I didn't make that mod, I only used it. As far as I know it's free to use. I like it a lot. :sunny:

I just had a look at the game files. The explosion does sound like in the sound file, I think what bothers me is the metallic clank at the end that cuts of very sharply. It is a bit irritating.

The Stadimeter button (above the dial) canīt be klicked when I use the UZO

There is no specific date for new subs. New sub offers are exclusively dependent of players rating and earned renown per patrol. If you were skipping patrols or you have to many neutrals on your score, don't expect reward any time soon..

In the SDBSM sound mod thread I read this answer by Vecko about the use of this mod in TWoS:

"DBSM-music is already in the megamod.
If you wish to use DBSM-Speech then remove sh.sdl file from it."

Is it valid for the last version and patch of TWoS?

Only removing the sh.sdl file from SDBSM and is it full compatible with TWoS?

The game thinks that you're submerged. Use slightly extended attack periscope in these situations...(and yes I'm repeating those tips once again...)

I neither killed any neutrals nor skipped patrols, i sink 1 ship or more every patrol, once even a large battlecruiser.....but ok, ill just wait

The crew on deck refers to your Avatar on the bridge not the actual crew.
Either walk down the ladder or use the 'T' short cut key to teleport off the bridge to a different station.

Is there a way to enable some kind of bearing reading for binoculars? I've searched everywhere, no positive results. According to TDW NewUIs OP there should be (at least in standalone mod, but I don't remember there was either). Is it by any chance disabled in TWoS on purpose?

use the buttons in the upper left GUI, just under torpedo tubes selection (TDC Mode: ALL, Minimal or Spread). Additionaly, activate TDC display on NavMap screen with the red button in the upper left corner. I suggest reading manuals for TheDarkWraith's NewUIs (main topic here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093).

Hi all!
There is the solution. The link to the compass has been removed from Page binocular.ini with a blank.dds so the bearing is invisible. I have found the solution and I'll show you the image.

But I think so little at a time TWOS loses the difficulty to 100%. But I think the customization is allowed, the reality is not always difficulties. Only Vecko can give me permission to give you the link to the MOD that restores the bearing.

In this case I find it quite natural, that watch crew is not only one man and thus soldiers on duty could easily point objects of interest to each other (like watch officer reporting bearing of spotted contact). I told him so many times, it's not funny when he gives me 3-digit bearing and then laughs at me blindly searching with binoculars!
Nobody is going to post that anywhere, and certainly not distribute under TWoS name. I don't think Vecko would have anything against people modifying their game for their own personal purposes. To be honest, most of us do it - everybody has their own mod soup :salute:
I would be gratefull for that .dds! ;)

Very true: everyone has their own mod soup, but I already have a modified TWOS for color contacts on the navigation map. Vecko may think that I want to spoil his exceptional TWOS. I like to customize so I had fun today to restore the sounds of the kitchen and the sound of the waves laps by changing the values in sh.sdl.

You know what sucks guys? To shadow a huge convoy in the dark for quite some time, determine itīs speed course and position with the 4 bearing method, and then have it all ruined by the stupid bug where a destroyer starts to follow you in close proximity and sailing circles....... :/\\!!

I advise you to download my MOD. The Page binocular.ini in TWOS is completely different from what I used. It is not enough to change the name blank.dds in binoculars.dds, I used a different Page binocular.ini that I edited. But I do not think it's a screen resolution problem. Only if you try my mod you can say that there are problems with other subsimmers.

Of course I tried your modification. On my setup the binocs work flawlessly, they are just bigger than in your screenshot so I barely see the fingers around. The lens take most of screen space. That's actually a good thing! But definitely screen size/resolution is a factor.

The reason behind my first answer was that I originally wanted to incorporate only the bearing alone.

I didn't find anything searching the thread, so I'll just need to ask. Did You ever consider incorporating Reaper's Enhaned Recognition Manual (edited by Zedi: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=172187)? It's basically the same thing as current XO dialog box, just looking better AND is compatible with NewUIs (added as optional). The reasons for that are mainly aesthetic. Having that mod, maybe just as optional, helps the immersion a lot if one doesn't like the stock GUI elements.
I tried enabling it above TWoS and didn't encounter problems, apart from ship length/width etc. not beaing displayed. Didn't care for that, as I still use the charts recognition manual.
Of course, one could continue using it as is, but I was hoping You could take a look at this or maybe just point out any major incompatibilities, if they exist.

Do you know is it possible to add some volume to dc explosions sound in sh.sdl file? Maybe even to fix missing sea surfacing sound for type VIIb?:hmm2: I don't know much about sh.sdl editing...

It's one of the best things that have happened to SH5, Vecko ;) Everywhere I go I see people playing the V with TWoS, and only because of TWoS. Most had gave up on the complicated process of compiling mod setups. Your work makes the difference!

When the game was introduced years ago I loaded on my drive. Played it once. Went back to SH4. It is the mods that make these games go from great to awesome. It was this mod that I was waiting for. I'm having a blast with it. (no pun intended)

Hello guys, I'm coming from the ArmA world and I am enjoying this game and mod very much. I am thinking "how could I never have heard of silent hunter in the last years?" Getting a patchable sh5.exe (I have Steam version) and modding was still hard, but worth it. I made a backup copy of anything :)

Now I want to use the "Das Boot" crew, I know there is a mod out there, but also I read something about multiple UI.

What is the correct way to get Das Boot crew into the already modded game? I ask, because I am still confused, because there are so many tools, exe patchers, config file tools, in game data folder, in mods data folder...

What is the way to go? Thank you!

Download NewUIs as standalone mod (main thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093). Inside You will find an optional folder called NewUIs_TDC_7_4_2_Das_Boot_Crew_Mod_by_Illyustrator . It's just altering graphics, so there should me no problem enabling it atop of your current mods. I use it with success ;)
Just be sure not to enable the main mod itself! It's already built in TWoS and that could potentially break something.

I have made it a bit easier for those who want to use it.
This was the default mod used with v1.04 but replaced by stock faces for v1.05

I had this appear once. I exited the game and reloaded. Never appeared again. This box appears on every game loading?

I love it. "Schallplate" is fine, old german, at least a bit dated. We said "Platte"...
In WoS, are the tracks vanilla or is there modded content? How many tracks are being played?

Agree, i wrote many times i want to pay full, i love it here and the charge is really no problem for me.
But i cant! ****ing Paypal dont allow me to pay anything i dont know why. They just want my scanned ids and i dont want to send it to them.

If i asked my friend who use paypal on regular basis, he was also unable to pay this for me! Strange..
I was even asked subsim owner if i can pay by another channel, no response...

BTW. direct mediafire link wasn't available at a11 download..

I got it working.. I've been watching some tutorials on manual TDC. For some reason I can't see the chart to convert the distance the ship travelled to speed. I have a sin chart but not this one...

Any idea?

It's a little hidden. First click the little spinny button at the top to refresh the lists of charts. Then SCROLL WHEEL down till you see Speed Conversion at the bottom of the top list. Click that then click the little spinny button at the bottom to refresh the bottom list of charts till you see the chart you want.

everything what was needed... I have played 4-5 missions so far with no problems in general(just few crashes during game)

Now, my game crashes when i trying to travel from Wilhemshaven to England, just i had leaved port, even if i put only x64 time speed! I've tried with x32, same problem! Please help, is there any way to continue my game? Thank you!

TCx32 is still too much around ports.
Use CTRL+F8 to check your frame rate.
SH5 is heavy on resources so you have to take in to account your systems capabilities as well.
If your gpu is under 2gb you may encounter problems.

Are you sure that you don't use any unsupported mod?
Try to end your patrol as soon as you start it and then start next patrol.
Did you check tips for stable gameplay?
post few screenshots including one of your jsgme....

I did that. Try to remove the old version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable and leave only the new (for me it Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.6161).

P.S.: And checks from time to time if not installing unauthorized game or program's outdated version of Microsoft Visual C++. It happens.

Ad TC - try to lower max TC limit to 128, i did this and its much better, than 256/512 because of laggs exploits. (at 128 it rarely laggs when you have hostile nearby)

Hi guys,

a bit struggling. They sent me to Azoren islands. OK, then we received a radio message:

- "Steer for CF1846 40°39N 24°24W"

I was in CF18, but don't know where CF1846 is. Have seen a grid helper with smaller rectangles in a Youtube video, but cannot find it.
Also the lat/long, not exactly sure which helpers I use here. Map coords are not precise.

- "Send a position report".

I struggled to find how. The radio guy can send a report. But a message appears: "ERROR DETERMINING RADIO CONTACT REPORT SPEED", "ERROR SETTING NAVIGATORS INFO".

I have seen in a Youtube video, the navigator automatically reported about position and bearing of where we should go. He did not do it here.

So I did... nothing... and now a new radio message appears, like:

"Good job, no new mission, patrol or return back..."

Oh yeah. Was just cruising... but good job :D. So. Where do I want to go in the campaign... Back to Brest I guess.

I know I know, I am an utter n000b.

There are no messages like those in TwoS...Maybe you should check your game/mod installation...

After chasing 2 merchant ships during the day, I carefully planned my attack to start at sunset. I set up my intercept and collected my data:

Bearing 0, range 950 meters, speed 7 kts +-, AOB 108 degrees.

2 torpedos hit,,, and bye bye. I surface and start using my canon to take out the other unarmed ship.

What I didn't see was that behind the smoke of the first target, there was a destroyer coming for me with full speed :/\\!! I dive and try to escape... but before I knew it the depth charges are exploding all around me :/\\!!. No room for errors!

Lesson learned, do not blindly surface... or you're gonna have a bad day! :up:

Just a little HINT guys, i dont know if you know about that:

You can even plan where exactly will the sun be at your attack time to plan your position to attack from dark and see sun/moon behind your target.
- open chalkboard by shift+B, click small chalk, then update your last position fix by button there - your position fix lat/long will fill into inputs - good. Then click OK and update sun/moon data by little circle at lower left corner of chalkboard.
Now you'll see actual sunset/sunrise (bearing) at your current position. So you can position yourself to have target at that bearing when you'll attack.

You can of course even shadow your convoy till ideal time of moon with this data :up:

Yes - HW3 is correct. You need to talk face to face with the radio op.
Tanker coords will be given and the resupply will be within 10km :up:

I rather socialize myself these days, than play, but I'll be back for sure, i don't want to throw everything what i learned about this awesome modpack away :)

BTW hey vecko, i would really love to support your awesome work via some donation as you do great work even about helping newbies and i understand it has to be very annoying to respond the same questions again and again...

You cannot spend so much time with that just like that, you need to compensate it by something! :)
And i think it would be fair to say thank you by small donation as you and modes basically fixed all this game.

It could seem to be unfair to get money for updating modpack because of modders, but it really can't seem to be unfair to let people support your time at this forum.

Just please don't use PayPal as i can't pay with that, probably just because I'm not from western longitude

For this version are the crew avatars back to the originals? I am asking because mines went back so I don't know if this is normal or something weird is going on in my update from 1.04 to 1.05. I did not reinstall the whole game as it said that it was recommended but not mandatory and I am lazy :D

Adding mods to TWOS is a touchy subject and not to be asked here.

This is a "light gameplay" with TWoS. Stormyīs DBSM (only Basemod and Fix, both complete), seems work fine, no problems in the problematic Med Campaign (Battle of the Med), with 58 savegames and reloads.

The DBSM mod remaps the key commands but all works. F7 is Battle Stations and F8 is Rig for Silent Running. I have a tendency to use the buttons command of the UI, so not many keys pressed.

I use SH3 UI style, not tested the list with the others styles.

I have a problem with the weather reports. They tell me ever the same, except in rare cases. I save a game with 15 m wind, and reload with 5 m wind and the report continues to tell 15 m wind. Same with cloud reports. This problem is present with the basic TWoS list, without my additional mods. With my list, the problem persists.

Many thanks for the new update and all the support, Vecko, and best regards. (BTW, I changed to patch 12 and reloaded my old savegames of the Med campaign and worked, no need to restart the campaign).

Hi,

I'm new to sub gaming (always been a huge fan of sub movies and history) and I recently picked up SH5. I was advised to install TWOS before even firing it up, and I did just that. I elected not to install Real Navigation as I have no idea how to do it. I'm finding the game very intimidating and overwhelming. I've gone through a lot of in game tutorial texts but I still feel lost.

Is there is "how to" youtube series to help me get up and running? The only thing I can really compare it to Kerbal Space Program and youtube was instrumental for me to learn and enjoy the game.

I started watching Norsecast playthrough, but he doesnt seem to explain the HOW behind a lot of what he does.

Is there any particular part of the game that's causing you confusion? Navigating? Plotting intercepts? Actually conducting an attack?

TheNorseCast's play through is pretty great and he tries to put enough detail into why and how he's doing things.

For my part here's a video of how to intercept a hydrophone contact step by step. It's using an earlier version of the UI from TWOS, but most things should work the same.

I just wondered if anyone had tried BTF since the coastal fortifications had been put in.
I am looking at the West entrance with the island in the middle as a possible entry point.
My logic tells me it might less well defended than the entrance on the Eastern side.
The channel between the island is probably around 1000 metres wide.
At night with searchlights blazing going to periscope depth may not be an option as I expect it will be very shallow in places.

Is there a tonnage requirement (even though there is no tonnage bar)? I understand the mini campaigns are date enabled or disabled, but will the amount of tonnage i sink in for instance British eastern Coast mini campaign have any effect on upcoming campaigns being accessible?

And if there are hidden tonnage requirements are they listed somewhere?

I already missed the breaking the Fortress mini objective as was too busy on British eastern coast missions. Itīs now November 15th, back at base, having sunk approx 45k tons on Eastern coast missions, but seeing that it will take another 20 days to get back to sea, I guess that I cannot do another BEC mission as it finnishes in 14 days. So I guess I need to pick mission on Northern patrol mini campaign as that seems all that will be available by the time i get to sea again.

No...You may only have to pay attention to "How to pass from one campaign to the next one" tip and you're good to go...Also, your tonnage is quite decent.

Hello mates,

I was so busy to play the last month having my wife hospitalizeda but now I'm back. Just installed the upd.12 and have the first patrol completed in Baltic Ops campaign. Managed to sink two polish DD near Danzig and merchant, then rebased to Kiel, where I've got some troubles entering the port. The first try, I've enabled the Autopilot scriptq the boat starts to move following the pilot orders and I decided to smoke one outside. It was not a good idea. Found the first buyo and passed leaving it to the port side, same with the rest of the buoyos and no problems - successfuly docked.

In that manner, is there something special according the ports leaving/entering? Any obsticles, charts, guidence?

I was so busy to play the last month having my wife hospitalizeda but now I'm back. Just installed the upd.12 and have the first patrol completed in Baltic Ops campaign. Managed to sink two polish DD near Danzig and merchant, then rebased to Kiel, where I've got some troubles entering the port. There is a mod for harbor charts (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=225824) and you can use it with twos when necessary. Just keep in mind that ingame charts number is limited to 50 and twos already has them 47. This is not such a big issue because you can enable/disable harbor charts mod when ever you like.

Quick question. Iīm currently doing the South eastern approaches mission in which apparently there is a British convoy to intercept. So i reach the red x and I get a message saying finished, and then a radio message saying there should be a convoy coming through the area. So I have patrolled for a 3 or 4 days and all that comes through are smallish groups of Irish, Greek, Portuguese or Spanish ships. No signs of the convoy we are after. I keep submerging, turning engines off and listening to hydrophones, and checking radio contacts, but nothing.

Is this sort of hit or miss or is there really a convoy supposed to be coming through?

By the way had a hell of a time coming through English channel to get here. Destroyers everywhere is large groups, its lucky we made it, lots of slow 64 time compression as we dodged and dived. Fun but harrowing experience.

There is no sub flags in TWoS...Sub flags = CTDs...

Noticed the same but I'm not sure is there an easy fix for this... Note that those messages are just an eyecandy and not directly related to campaign traffic...Real radio reports are displayed in your captain log

Here I am guessing you are in South Western approaches. 1940?

If so the next 2 radio (RED) message that you will get are important for the campaign.

When you get a radio message it will have one of three colourd backgrounds:-

Red = Campaign message. This is real info that you should act on.
Blue = Do this. Normally send contact report etc
Gray = random war info - not actually in the game

What is interesting is there was some quite odd behaviour from destroyer groups when i took the earlier channel route. Amongst odd behaviour was destroyers acting as if they are aware of my preseance, so sort of shadowing me, move for move, but I am way out of their visual, or asdic range. Then when a convoy did show up it actually disappeared in front of my eyes as i was setting up an an ambush. It literally blinked out of existence. :D

Already in TWOS "Accurate German Flags", One of the things this mod does is to replace the default flags in the bunker with swastikas.
As Vecko said you cannot put a flag on your boat as it crashes the game..

Like radio contact reports? If so then yes...
If you set your radio contacts filter like this for example, then all radio contacts within 1000 Km around your sub will also be shown in your message log with more details. In this case TC will also drop to x1. Very useful...

Yes I gathered it was some residual whackiness from the stock game. I donīt think Iīll do the channel route again as if aircraft sees you the hunter killer groups really come after you. It was a real nightmare, could hardly move for destroyers and their search patterns. The crew were already fed up with the patrol once we made it through to open waters. Canīt blame them we spent a ridiculous amount of time submerged and on silent rigging.

I am in Happy Times! But strange way it came about. I was in the Atlantic for turnover date (June 1st). Nothing happened so I thought hell I am going to have to use Veckos fix. So started long journey back to base, took the Northern route and while i am perhaps a day out of Wilhelmshaven, it is June 6th, and suddenly U-play has a pop up saying Total Germany completed, campaign ends and I get the happy Times intro.

I guess better late than never.

I read it, so how do you know which range to use? I dont have awhole lot of time to read. I work 10 to 12 hours a day and its usually 6 days a week.
Plus I have a family so I dont really have alot of time to read through everything or do alot of searching through the forum. So I tend to ask what seems to be dumb questions. I just figure its easier to ask people who are in the know and I am new to SH5. Played a heck of alot of SH3 and 4 though.

Iīm finding duds seem to come in bunches. Iīll get 2 or 3 in a row then none for a while. I also find that the more of a right angle shot the less likely it duds. Just wait til you get the torpedo which appears to go right through the target, that is quite annoying. Seems to happen with destroyers quite a bit.

When you get your mission orders it will say to patrol an area. You will then get radio message with new info "Patrol AN5517 zone radius 120 km. Time of patrol 48 hours. BdU"

Is this not happening?

So I am finding HT rather more like boring times. I am blanking many patrols and crew morale seems very delicate. They are down a few morale points within a week or so of patrol time as there is nothing to sink. The chef seems only good for about 1 special meal, then because morale is so low he wont even cook another a week later. I have been using a lot of promotion points on the Bosunīs passive morale abilities, but it doesn't seem to help much.

The radio convoy contact reports often donīt actually show up in the Captains log info (long/lat) so no way of knowing which report is where in order to gauge if its a lead worth following or can be caught without burning too much precious fuel.

Also the grids i am being sent to appear to have no traffic whatsoever so instead of burning fuel often i just sit there and wait the 48/72 hours, submerging once in a while to check the hyrdophone. Lots of whales, no ships :D

I haven't gotten that far yet but I will let you know if it isn't. Like I said I am new to SH5 and I don't have awhole lot of time to play so it's going to take some time.

So I reinstalled WOS as about half way through Happy Times I could not get out of Lorient/Brest area without CTDs. Tried various times on minor time compression without luck. Also tried restoring the bunker save at Lorient and choosing new mission but each time i reached about 100 KM from Lorient on way to Atlantic I had a CTD. No error messages. I was experiencing this once in a while before usually when returning to port or approaching enemy ports on patrol. But usually in those cases a reloading a save fixed the problem.

I am aware of the need to use low time compression near ports/land.

So I am wondering if there are some settings I can use or any other mods I can load after WOS which might limit the amount of CTDs? I only have 4 gig RAM so could that be a problem?

Any advice much appreciated as with this many CTDs it is becoming almost unplayable.

Because I'm not an expert in SH5, I'll share my own opinion based on my own experience:
I have Win 7 Ultimate Pro OS, CPU- AMD Athlon X4 5350 /2.05GHz/ 2MB Cache/ AM1, GPU Nvidia GeForce GT 705-DDR III 2 GB, RAM-DDR III-8 GB, HDD 2 TB. I'm playng the SH5-TWOS Upd 12 from two months without any CTD. The game runs very light and stable. In comparison, in the past I've tried it whith 4 GB RAM and it was baad.
In other hand, it is always recommended to use as lower TC as possible near ports and shore, also potential action zones. It is a good idea to load your last save, then quit without new save and reload the same.

Try to save and restart your game completely approximately 50-60 km from the port, or just before you expect your game to CTD...
Also , error report from windows event viewer would be helpful...

Okay thanks. In that case itīs not my rig that is the problem. I will try the reload, then restart game and reload again trick.

Yes I just came back from 2nd mission based at Wilhelmshaven and used 32 TC into port with no CTD. Fingers crossed.

No I haven't over-clocked or tweaked anything. I have the TC settings as instructed in the TWOS install procedure.

I looked at the Windows event viewer, could not find anything. Is there something or a specific log i should be looking at?

Yes the reload usually works when its a coming into port CTD, though admittedly I usually do not restart the game, just reload, but it usually works. The CTD i kept having in my last campaign in HT about December 1940 was leaving Lorient and heading in a WNW direction. About 100-150 km out it would CTD. Tried many different things, nothing worked. I even rebooted computer, and then restarted SH5, reloaded the bunker save, chose another mission set out again and CTD continued. Maybe I had a corrupt set of saves from the Bunker save?

Oh well, making my way through Total Germany again. Just intercepted a massive convoy in North Sea, off a radio lead which happened close by luckily. No duds! Sunk 3 for 14k tons! I was thinking, please dont CTD now :-)

Are you using Snorkel? if so, is it Vertical or Horizontal Snorkel.
If any exhaust is enabled TWOS does not like it and you will need to disable all exhaust.

You mean reloading just before the CTD normally happens? Yes tried that recently with the odd CTD and it works. But I have restarted whole campaign and reached HT again.

I looked at the error logs and cant see anything related to SH5. Iīd publish it here but itīs huge. Are there specific entries I should be looking for? I cant even tell which entries are related to the CTD.

Any ways so far out of Lorient in this new campaign, 2 missions, no crashes in or out of port. Fingers crossed. I am keeping way more saves now :D

Edit: In fact was thinking about that again, and yes every time it CTDs i have to restart the game. I am bumped out completely and Uplay goes through itīs syncing saves malarkey.

Probably something "big" has been spawned just outside of the Lorient harbor, (large convoy, bunch of airplanes, a wolfpack ect)... This is really rare but maybe you were unfortunate enough.
Usually, problems like these can be successfully solved by tweaking your number of days spent in bunker in order to depart day or two before of after problematic date.
Whit TWoS this can be done by using appropriate optional mod (FAQ) or trough KSDCommander settings...:yep:

Slow speed is not required in SH5, you only have to be surfaced (kind of stupid, I know). Keep in mind that, in order to compensate for these limitation, external reserves transfer time is drastically increased in TWoS to 4-5 h or more...

Okay cheers. Yes Iīve noticed a few CTDs before just before running into a massive convoy in mid atlantic, so could have been something like that, which having loaded Lorient and surrounding area, my pc could not handle the big spawn it was running into before leaving Lorient vicinity.

I have finished only first mission of the war, but didn't made others...Now its february 1941, and i don't have new missions, and don't have uboat upgrades and new sub. I have upgraded only twin flak gun and rotating sensor. Is this because i didn't finish missions from the first campaign costal waters?Please help. Thanks!

Yehp, I think so. You have to complete the missions in order to gain renown points for upgrades.

Have you seen these lines before?
Campaign progress is broken in SH5 and these lines offer several solutions for this issue...
- How can I pass from one campaign to the next one?
- Campaign transfers in TWoS are date controlled so make sure to be ON PATROL when deadline date of last objective is reached (ending date of your current campaign), preferably somewhere at open seas without AI units in your vicinity . This is important so be careful if you use mods like "Change Days in Bunker"... The end date of first "Coastal Waters" campaign is 1st June 1940. Check ending dates for other campaigns here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1791497&postcount=2).
- If campaign transfer still fails to initialize when you reach campaign ending date, then you may wish to use this (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2355001&postcount=274) or this (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2385201&postcount=94) method to trigger campaign transfer correctly... For this method to work, the TDW patch which disables Uplay browser should be disabled. Note that Mama's solution with TWoS is necessary only when you expecting campaign transfer, on campaign ending. Before that date, you can load your gamesaves with or without setting OSI.exe priority, there will be no significant impact on campaign progress.

I've reedited broken campaign progress related tip in order to make it, if possible, easier for understanding. Please let me know if there are still some uncertainties about these solutions so I can improve it further...:yep:

Checked backgrond process in control panel. Than renamed files in save games like you said, and career tracker too. Now when i open comander in bunker, i have baltic operations mission only, i check that and when i started, i was in La Specia base, with this mission for Poland. Lool :D

You didn't give me enough information so I really can't tell what is wrong with your game...I suggest you to check FAQ and tips section once again and if you still cant solve your issues , then start new campaign (using "silentotto" cheat if you like).

You can also upload your last bunker gamesave folder, maybe I could do necessary tweaks for you...

The reason why you see "Baltic mission" is because you have started CW campaign again and not Mare Nostrum using "sillentotto" cheat...

I have my missions now in meditteran with silentotto, tonage is ok, date is ok, but my sub is same(type VIIA). I could not change it on career tracker, in last saved game folder as it said in instructiones. When i type VIIC, and load game, its my old sub. When i type VIIB/VIIA, and load game, it crashes on loading screen. I put 23nd flotilla and f8kiel, every time, of course. :/

You cant change your sub like that...:03: What is your current rating in CareerTrack.upc file, the one you have edited?

Why i can't run while submeged with general comands?When click on gear 4(example), engine stops to 0. Even when i click on arrows keys, same thing. And when i order to officer silent run, engine stops too, or goes up to gear 5... Only way i can handle this, is to hold crtl and make speed i want...

Open Horizons is campaign mod, part e included in TWoS. You have TWoS, then you have Open Horizons. TWoS is a "super-combination-of-mods-highly-playable-and-stable". See in the first post of this thread the mods contained in TWoS. You can see Open Horizons is included.

@Vecko: about change of campaign: Do you tell us we need do not pass the date of campaign end or we could have problems and we must use the "last resource" way to passing campaign? This is a thing I canīt understand very well. (maybe my poor english). I setted the MaMa fix 2, it seems works in my W10 SH5 TWoS installation.

Nope...Only speed bonus has been reduced from 3kn to something like 0.6 kn...Ability duration should be the same and certainly longer than 3sec...
We are not talking here about ability duration with TC enabled , right? :)

I think my question is clear enough. When i submerge my sub, i can't move it by clickin on speed gears in the left down corner, can't do it by clicking arrow keys button neither. I can move my sub(while submerged) only if i hold left ctrl and click with mouse on desired gear. When i order my officer silent run, all engines stop, or sub is going with max speed. Is this bug? Is there chance i can move my sub normaly, or only way is with crtl(as described up there)? Thank you.

Sure, a mistake with the years. Also, Iīm now in "Battle of Mediterranean", not in "Mare Nostrum". (Access via silentotto).

Iīm now on 12/18/1941, docked at Pantelleria, Med Sea.

I see three objetives (Battle of the Mediterranean, via Silentotto):

Patrol Western Med Area of Operatons and Second Western Med Area of Operations:

Deadline: Sept 1, 1942.

Malta Supply Routes.

Deadline: August 01, 1942.

Rommel Supply Routes.

Deadline: Sept 1, 1942.

If I pass in patrol (not in bunker), the last deadline (Sept. 1, 1942), example: Sept 5, 1942...this means possible problems or I must pass the campaign exactly on 01 Sept, 1942?

Yes, but without WoS. And have CTDs and no transfers, etc. (with a poorly modded SH5 with OH).

Many thanks, Vecko. Iīm a slow player of SH games, because my RL and because I like slow motion - low TC. Iīm relatively new in TWoS and never passed a campaign with it. I am playing TWoS from 1.04 version. Iīm learning - slowly - all the functions of the game. Iīm not playing with RN, and use Wind and Smoke. I discover something new when I load a savegame and play.

From La Spezia to Pallenteria I see nothing to hunt, only axis ships. Docked in Pantelleria for trying the game (no CTD in port; there are some freighters and italian destroyers). Now departing from Pantelleria to the hunting zone of Malta. I hope I will see action there. No problems at the moment with the Med campaign in Battle of Mediterranean.

what :o:doh::dead::/\\!! do u use SH4 mods with sh5 ???? Webster's better waterline. is a Silent Hunter 4 mod !!!!!!!
no wonder that u have problem with the game....do not enable any additional mods after TWOS this is writed with read in TWoS documentation too and was said more then 100 times on this forum .....
