Hahah, that's hardcore simulation palmic :rotfl2:

Talking about the gramophone, another crazy idea I had a while ago (but that would require an hardcoded patch... if only TheDarkWraith was still around), is radio and gramophone boosting crew morale, but at the cost of increased sound signature and chance of detection by the enemy :D

1) are we still playing simulator or not? :03:
2) Yeah, that would be my dream come true.. (well i play it that way anyway.. :D)

Not sure if this is the right page for this:

On the navigation window, what does the blue marker do? Is says "add navigation fix to map" but when I click it, nothing happens.

I've been trying to work out navigation like I do in SH3, where I work out my position by DR, then mark my position with a small circle from the compass and then time stamp it with the ruler. Unfortunately the ruler doesn't quite work the same. Is there a better way to do this?

Manual navigation mark by that blue pencil and supermark by green one (which is kinda note) i use always and every dead reconning i do (i dont use navigator because he is pretty inaccurate - i use navigator just for star navigation fix - the otherone, i dont remember how its called now..)

The point here is that if you mark these fixes to the map, you need to have last one at map visible. So if you want to make new navigation fix manually by pencil, you have to zoom out enough to see your last one and so...
I dont know why it is so, but it works like that....
And you even can to note anything to that fix...

I have another problem now, I'm tracking a convoy, but I'm having trouble tracking my position with DR and calculating convoy speed and whatnot because i cant find the chronometer.

Navigator can do DR for you, with some error of course...Explore a bit his UI commands...:yep: You'll also find fully functional sextant there, IF you are up for full hardcore navigation...:salute:

Also, press "F1" key for key commands and go trough TWoS FAQ and Tips section. You'll find there a lot of useful advices and tips...

I've been reading through the guide on using the sextant, in fact that was the final piece that pushed me into buying SH5, (twice!) I bought it on steam and then realized that was dumb, so then got it on Amazon. Excited to use it, but still settling in to the basics of the game.

You can open map by M, why you wouldn't?
The reason why you was not able to write supermarks or navigation fixes by pencils was you was too zoomed in and you had no last fix/supermark in view....

i dont use navigator because he is pretty inaccurate He can be as accurate 100% or inaccurate as you want him to be by adjusting the patches.

I looked through the forums here and read it was x, or c, and neither of those worked!

In the loading screens they mentioned running the diesel and electric engines in tandem for extra speed, or running one diesel for charging and then the other for propulsion as well as the electrics, is there a way to do this in game?

Installation:

2. Deactivate all activated mods with your JSGME except "The Wolves of Steel 2.0.0" main mod.
3. Enable the Update 2.0.7 2nd in your activated modlist, right after the "The Wolves of Steel 2.0.0" main mod, like this:

Great job with WOS after complete campaign restart from update 2.0.5 game has never been so stable 100hrs in or so. 4 Missions Completed. No major bugs just the usual minor stuff ie. Co2 no crew on deck/crew underwater which are only due to being forced to do the odd ALT Tabs . :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up: Many thanks

So many messed up modlist can be seen in KSD Commander profiles...:doh: It's obvious that some people just can't get it...:hmmm:

I'm really running out of ideas how to organize/simplify mod installer and install instructions to the level where even players who do not wont to spare few minutes to check some documentation would be able to play the game as intended. :hmmm:

This is probably not possible in case of modded SH5 (or any game) but if you guys have some ideas, please let me know.

Maybe auto installer which wouldn't include JSGME at all but then, that would throw most of the easy customization out of the game and Generic Patcher would still be there...:hmmm:

You do not need to feel any responsibility for those who cannot or will not look at instructions.
The way you have used the auto installer is, and should be idiot proof.
Personally I like it even if AVG does not.

You could also go back to numbering your mods in the correct order.

You instructions are hidden at the bottom of the documents folder.
Unless you are prepared to scroll down through all the mods know one will know that they are there.
I would suggest that these are put in their own folder along with installing TWOS and added as a desk top short cut at least it will be always seen as soon as a new installation takes place.

Some players may not know how to make desktop short cuts so you are providing a useful service and for the rest of us it is just a case of deleting them as those with any savvy will already have them in their taskbar.

Berbster is correct it just takes logical steps I've just run WOS 2.07 no probs but I've been around a long time so its second nature to me using Generic Mod Enabler. That said anything that simplifies getting set up for the first time is always welcome. There seems to be a lot of newcomers finding getting fully set up very daunting and some give up, I'm really not that surprised most games are far simpler to implement mods . SH is a little blinding in its Mass of info accumulated over a long time.

Lets make it a easy as possible to widen Appeal it can't be a bad thing

auto-installer sounds good to me.

In order to allow customization, you might include JSGME, and accessory mods directly in the installer, so that they will be in the correct folder once the install process is finished (ā la GWX).

You might even let the player to choose wether he wants to install just the base mod, or the base mod pllus the accessory mod package. New UI's option viewer/editor and TDW's patcher might also be part of this 'customization module'.

Alternatively, you might release the mod in two versions: traditional (for advanced players and people who want to customize their game) and auto-installer (easier to install but not customizable).

As for hardcoded patches, I think you shouldn't run into any legal issue if you include the pre-patched exe, dll and act files directly in the mod, as long as they are encrypted in the auto-installer, and the installer itself requires original UBI files to be run. :hmm2:

That's how I have organised TWoS installer right now. I used simple winrar self extracting archive which is "kind of" auto installer but still, I see a lot of modlist where players use all resolution patches in the same time ect...

That is my goal, an auto installer which would contains activated Generic Patcher and which would have ability to configure OFEV and Gen. Patcher's cfg files according to preset path stated at the beginning of installation process (maybe even taken from registry). However, that kind of full installer is still beyond me but hopefully some day...:yep:

If I remember correctly those pieces of nav map background are from some Russian version of TWoS which I've stumbled upon the net. They look much cleaner then the original Obelix's Strat.Map file. Is there any problems regarding this? :hmmm:

With the new TWoS update i got some CTDs now, before my TWoS was 100% stable not even one single CTD.:doh:



IMPORTANT NOTICE

It seems that interaction with the crew can sometimes cause CTD in situations when players camera is extremely tilted/bugged and this can usually happen when your U-Boat is sinking bow/stern first under extreme angle.

It's important to know that the issue has nothing to do with latest dialogs menu update. It's an old problem which could be introduced by some modder long time ago or it could even be stock game issue.

This means that it will take some time until I manage to track down source of the problem , especially since I'm not really familiar with this part of the game, but I hope I'll made it eventually, as always...:yep:

So for now, try to avoid unnecessary interaction with your crew when your avatar's camera is bugged/tilted on one side due to heavy damage and U-boat's sinking. Use GUI controls preferably...:yep:

Hi all!

Last time I played this mod was about a year ago, and back then you could pull up a handy little identification booklet, flip through, find the type of ship you were engaging, then send the mast height to the TDC in order to find the range using the stadimeter. I just re-downloaded and installed this mod today, and when I went to open up the identification booklet, all I could find were some 2 page spread identification cards, and as far as I can tell, no way to send the mast height to the TDC once I identified the target. Now whenever I use the stadimeter, it says the range is 20000m, even if my target is clearly right in front of me, at less than 1000m away . . . Any help?

Crazeek: Try pressing 'e' to show all of the charts; then look to the left of your screen. It's hidden, but you'll see a brown edge and you can pull it out to see the ship identification book you're referring to.

Game not stable with update 2.07 as previously reported note that you have temporary solution ( hopefully ! ) . I also noticed a missing texture on 1 off the non intractable crew members in the control room I've not noticed before (optional warmer weather clothes) No big deal obviously and may be just local to me
I experienced the thing with the old "tilt" bug that was not there with previous update it seemed to fix itself by using the Icon commands at the bottom of the screen but I not 100% percent sure and possibly inadvertently aided CTD

Apologies if this is not appropriate place to mention this please redirect me if so ( I get lost sometimes try to follow links )

Due to recent findings I decided to remove archer9's extended dialog mod until I learn more about the problem with crew interaction dialog scripts which can cause occasional game crash in certain situations.
This of course won't actually fix the mentioned problem but also it won't provoke it neither...

The Wolves of Steel v2.0.8 Update CHANGELOG:

This one just happened all of a sudden when I tried to open TDW's Options File Editor/Viewer, whenever I ask it to 'Open' it has an error pop-up that says :
*********Invalid option entry found. Missing VALUES's COUNT entries/r/nLine read was #DEFAULT=[ "Heir ist ein U-Boat Cocktail!!"," Chalkboard Tally","edit your favorite" ] @ line #3262 *********

It wont let me open my user options file to make any changes, has anybody had this problem before?

i would try to set again root directories and paths for OFEV option files (i expect you already did this) and then i would completely reinstall whole SH5 with last version of TWOS update by manual (see first post of this thread).
You have to be clean by this sollution.. There's no other option.

you can also try to deactivate and then activate main TWoS mod with your jsgme. Did you check ofev instructions in twos doc folder?

Hey guys,
*I thought I should post this on the release page for OFEV, but i couldnt find such a page.

This one just happened all of a sudden when I tried to open TDW's Options File Editor/Viewer, whenever I ask it to 'Open' it has an error pop-up that says :
*********Invalid option entry found. Missing VALUES's COUNT entries/r/nLine read was #DEFAULT=[ "Heir ist ein U-Boat Cocktail!!"," Chalkboard Tally","edit your favorite" ] @ line #3262 *********

It wont let me open my user options file to make any changes, has anybody had this problem before?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I managed to fix it by disabling all mods and then enabling them again, after that I was able to open OFEV no problem.

The enigma mod is fantastic, but unfortunately for me the letters in the radio messages was too hard to see, I really had issues with O or Q. Type one wrong letter and you have to start all over again. So I decided to remove the mod, not sure if there is a way to deal with my problem. Glasses perhaps :03:

You're right, this can be a problem for some. I'll see if I could find appropriate files to edit font style a bit, if possible at all...:hmmm:

Hi guys
If you use a magnifying glass on the radio message you will see that the O has a little bit missing from being a complete circle.
The Q has tiny bit added to the complete circle.
With a bit of time you will get use to the look of both and will not need any type of aid to recognize the difference.

I think I have found the solution how to change radio message font so you guys don't need to use magnifying glass anymore. I'll add the fix in the next update...:yep:

Just wait minute or two mate...Remove old updates from your jsgme...and no, you don't have to do full reinstallation of course if you've installed/updated your Twos per instructions.

The black screen start up is always a bit unnerving especially for those who have a lower spec computer because of the loading time to the menu.
It really needs some sound here to show that all is well and the game is loading and not frozen.

I'm afraid that's not possible...only stuck and repetitive sound can be heard and that's even more unnerving and suspicious.
People should realize that nations roster is largely increased and the game needs some time to allocate all the files.
I'll see if i could add visual info instead of black screen, that would be quite useful and it could neutralize potential confusion...

When it first started up I would get a splash screen of TWOS with a progress bar at the bottom. Now I just get a black screen then the music starts to loop then the music plays as it should .... behind a black screen now.. :(

Additional UI hydrophone commands are modded in to the game and that's how they are implemented. Some will give you audio response while some won't...

This feature has to have been added for some purpose though, right?

In normal gameplay there wont be much use of this function. It's more a curiosity and demonstration of pyton scripts abilities introduced with Sh5.

Yes you should end your patrol and request those missions in the bunker. When to end a patrol? When you're out of torpedoes :03: I guess whenever you like, missions are only date controlled. No more tonnage bars and all that nonsense. I like this, you are free to decide how to hunt. Your primary order is to sink enemy ships wherever you find them.

Any idea on what the historical average patrol length was?
Also if I just need fuel and torpedoes do I request resupply or just go to a friendly port?

If you want to do the Scapa Flow mission you need to head straight there from where you are, do it, and head home afterwards. It is a very short time frame to do it in. The Western Approaches lasts much longer, so you have plenty of time for it.

But one question. Is there no Lock/Unlock function to lock onto a target while looking through a scope or the UZO like there was in stock game. Is there a key or am I missing something ?
If it is no longer part of the game, is there a way to get it back ?

I know the other UI's perform better, but does the SH3 UI perform better than the SH4 UI?

Lowbow, I am using Binoculars with bearing by Torpedo v1 with TWoS with no problems. I have not tried the other mod as I am happy with my setup.

I can see the silly morale stuff hasn't been removed, if possible. When it's drained the crew become practically incapacitated. How realistic is this? They don't gain morale by sinking ships either, also not very realistic.

I can not agree. What do you mean by "incapacitated"? Crew will still load torpedo tubes, report contacts, fire guns, send/receive radio reports ect, right? :hmm2:
Only some special abilities which would require non depressed, restful or highly moralized crewman will be restricted which is pretty much what would happen in real life as well IMO...


They don't gain morale by sinking ships either, also not very realistic.
Only warships will boost your crew and add some moral. Otherwise it would be to easy. SH5 is the only game in the series where you actually have a reason to end your patrol after a month long patrol instead of just refitting...:yep:

Due to recent findings I decided to remove archer9's extended dialog mod until I learn more about the problem with crew interaction dialog scripts which can cause occasional game crash in certain situations.
This of course won't actually fix the mentioned problem but also it won't provoke it neither...



Main TWoS package will also be updated with latest v2.0.8 update.

Tried this entire process twice. Why is the mission text all placeholders?

I am updated. As I said, I am using the Ubisoft Launcher and it installs my game to 1.2.0 as shown in the top right corner of the main menu.

I tested this and I couldn't confirm Your claim, sorry. There is no need to start vanilla SH5 at all in my case nor could I track down the reason why would that be necessary in any scenario.

Waiting for more comments regarding this issue...

- Fixed missing type VIIB surfacing sounds.
- Fixed problematic similarity between "Q" and "O" letters in radio messages and captain's log pages.
- Fixed incorectly placed Independent engine ctr buttons, switched positions (Port-left, Stb-right).
- Added "Start new campaign" informational tool tip which will inform player (once again) to make SAVE/RELOAD upon first bunker visit.
- Adjusted campaign title font in campaign selection page.
- Adjusted credits logo size and position.
- In game credits page updated with a list of 10 outstanding TWoS supporters! Thanks Captains!

This could happen if you push shift+Z (its GUI toggle, just try it in game and then open the map)

Do you think it's better to re-do all from the first step? Its important and necessary to install the game exactly in this way:

Game installation and settings

Make a clean SH5 installation and make sure that the game is patched to official v1.2.0. It is highly recommended that you install your game somewhere outside of stock "C:\Program Files (x86)\..." system folder.
Also, do not skip DirectX 9.0c installation, SH5 needs it. Some Win/8/10 users may need to run SH5.exe in Win7 compatibility mode in order to play the game. Always launch your game with administration rights.
Note that despite which language settings you've selected during game installation, TWoS will optimize your game for gameplay with English language texts and German voices. Other language combinations are not officially supported.
Make sure that you launch stock game at least once before you install TWoS megamod.


Mod Installation

Step 1:
- Download The Wolves of Steel 2.0 Silent Hunter 5 Expansion Pack_Full.exe (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=4861) and install the archive to your main Silent Hunter 5 folder (e.g. "C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5"). Make sure to specify correct game path when prompted.

Step 2:
Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME.exe) window will pop-up automatically after step 1 is done.
Enable contained mandatory and optional mods with your Generic Mod Enabler in this order (JSGME may stop responding for some time while enabling the main mod, just let it to finish it's job / Say 'Yes' to all JSGME warnings)...
Code:
The Wolves of Steel 2.0.0 (mandatory, the main mod) The Wolves of Steel 2.0.x Update (mandatory update) [Other TWoS 2.x.x compatible optional mods/addons] * by default , TWoS is optimized for 16:9 in game resolutions. Enable appropriate *x* resolution patch If you use other aspect ratio resolution.

Step 4:
Properly activate TDW Generic Patcher and restore "TWoS 2.0_Snapshot.gps". The patcher, snapshot and install instructions are already placed in the main game folder (Silent Hunter 5/TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_168_0).

(Steam version doesn't support generic patcher and therefore this expansion too) Advanced workaround for Steam users (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2266214&postcount=161)

Step 4:
Go to "C:\Users\[Your username]\Documents\SH5\data\cfg" and delete main.cfg file. New and correctly configured file will be automatically created on next game launch.

Step 5:
SH5 may appear frozen on start, nothing unusual, wait a few sec...Start new campaign and don't forget to save/reload the game first time your avatar appears in the bunker. This is necessary for correctly initiated campaign start (do this every time you're about to start new campaign or advancing to the next one)...Happy hunting Herr Kaleun!:salute:

Just wanted to say awesome work! I have not played TWoS for a year and it has really come a long way. I really like the main menu set up by the way, very cool footage and the song to go with it is great. What is the name of that song and who composed it? I'd like to look this person up.

Anyways thanks again for putting this all together and also thank you to all the authors of each mod put into TWoS.

I dont know, but you should not to show yourself before neutrals, they are not to be trustworthy, you just cant to sink them thats all. :03:

How long have you been out? You should have enough fuel for a month or more, unless you run at full speed all the time :03:

I just started my 4th patrol, but I just worked out the distance just to my secondary patrol zone and back is something like 7200km, which does give me some room and all, but I was wondering if I ended up needing fuel, but was still good on torpedoes if I had another option than going all the way back to Wilhelmshaven.

It's there from February to November 1940.

I went there from south west Ireland, and it was around a 1000km shorter than going back to Wilhelmshaven.
But if you are on North western approaches it may be a similar distance to both I guess.

Hey guys,

This one is another separate issue (I think.) When I start KSD Commander, up in the top right, where you login, it says:
"Database connection error. Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.career_tracks'.'P K career tracks' in"

I'm assuming it's supposed to say more, but that's all that is visible. It also crashed once.
I took a picture, but now I can't figure out how to include it in this post.

No worries. When you get into the harbour area, and near enough to it, the anchor will show at the top of your screen.....same as when you dock/refit at home base. Just click it and then choose refit.

i5 3750K stock, 8Gb Ram, Nvidia 980ti on latest drivers, Windows 10.
As stated this now affects an unmodded vanilla install.

I had a similar issue with vanilla SH3 but resolved it by applying admin access and compatibility settings. Sadly not working for this, in fact I didn't need to on the original installation just a few days ago...it just ran.

Just wondering if any configuration settings are stored anywhere else by the mods other than the installation folder or the documents folder...registry maybe? Perhaps i'll try a different drive path and try again.

Yes, that is exactly how mine is.
It now hangs on the first splash screen, just after "initializing"
Verified game files. Rolled video driver back to 381.65.
At a loss?

EDIT,
Got it working again by installing to a different drive. Maybe I have corrupt registry entries pointing to the original path.
Question is, do I dare try to mod it again??

Hello Captains,

Windows 10, Steam version with the workaround. Install instructions followed to a T. I'm getting black UI boxes with no text that can't be closed. I've noticed others had the same issue and simple DX or VC updates fixed their issues. Thing is, I'm all up to date as far as I can tell (ran the included DX update). Am I SOL?

EDIT: Fixed. It was an installation issue (TDW Patcher) found after 3 reinstalls and 5 (FIVE) hours. Too bad I can't stay of to try it out. :(

I found the TheBeast mod "Room_QR1" that contains two other mods.
The mods are to be activated in this way:

For me it has to eliminate the halo of the lamp above the dinner table.

I think I used the "GR2EditorViewer.exe" program (data/Applications/GR2EditorViewer) and modified the "Room_QR1_silentmichal.GR2" file.

Ok, what the hell.

Uninstalled SH5.

Delete the old SH5 folder in the Ubisoft folder.

Re-install so I can install the TWoS mod.

Installed, updated DirectX 9.0.

Go to launch the game and I get this message: "The procedure entry point cef_browser_create_sync could not be located in the dynamic link library libcef.dll"

Then I get "Failed to connect uplay"

Help?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what the correct way was to order a dive to certain depths. Does ordering on the depth scale vs just ordering a dive cause the crew to operate the sub differently? (Changing ballast, diveplanes, in different ratios etc)
In the FAQ it says to surface using blow ballast order, how is this different from standard surface order?

You mean commands don't work for you? Did you activate Generic Patcher properly?

Watch at port/stb engine RPM gauges while playing with independent engine/shafts commands and you'll soon understand how they work. :yep:
Not much of use in normal gameplay though, just a curiosity and demonstration of TDW's modding skills...:yep:

How about to disable Uplay browser (enable appropriate patches via Generic Patcher, they are disabled by default) and see what will happen...
You can also experiment a bit with orbit listeners patches as well...

No, that's done automatically although this is not supported by the appropriate diesel engine animation (limitation of all SH games) . However, RPM gauges will show you correctly what is going on while recharging is active...:yep:

After updating and the harbor charts mod and rpm hydrophone mod, everything works except when I go to look at my charts it only has the new charts that were added by the new mods, the originals are gone. Is this fixable?
Edit: kinda panicked there, after disabling the mods, my default charts came back.

What caused them to go away, and how can I add those mods back without losing all my charts again?

Hello everyone -- been a LONG time since I've tried to get SH5 going again. Definitely put a smile on my face when I saw that this community is still thriving. So I'm trying to do the install -- I'm on Windows 7, so thought I at least had that going for me! I downloaded and re-bought SH5 from amazon digital download, gold edition. I completed install with no problems, then immediately patched using the updater exe in the support folder. That also completed successfully. Here's where things started to go wrong -- this whole UPlay thing. I put in my ancient Ubisoft credentials (still worked from way back when), and it kept downloading updates to the uplay launcher -- but when it was apparently finished, and I tried to launch SH5, it said it couldn't find some browser thing, and stopped right there. I looked at settings, and I selected Offline mode thinking that would help, but to no avail. I figured I needed to login somewhere, as at no time did install ask me for the serial number/activation key I got from Amazon.

The reason I tried to launch game -- I saw in instructions that after patching with Ubisoft patch, to run it one time and exit right back out before proceeding with TWoS. I was so frustrated I uninstalled everything (SH5 and Uplayer launcher) via Add/Remove Programs, and that's where I stand. I think I want to give it another go -- but nowhere in the detailed instructions here, does it mention Uplay launcher, or whatever that Ubisoft launcher software is. (or I completely missed it) Any ideas from anyone?

To clarify, I never got through the step of being able to launch the stock game (after patching using updater in support folder).

Should I have tried to launch the game first, before patching it?

No because max number of charts is 50 and TWoS already has them 49 IIRC...Before you submit CTD report, note that RPM mod will crash your game eventually...:yep:

It will mostly not work.

The best thing behind TWOS is vdr1981 is testing and orchestrating all partial mods for us into one simply installable package of working goodness.

And it's really last reason i returned to this game which was absolutely ****ed up by ubi.

No...The function of that step is just to verify that your stock v1.2.0 installation process went OK, which is not true in your case.
You may have problems with your Uplay launcher. I'm sure TheBerbster will be here in no time with some suggestions for you...:yep:

manually installed ulauncher from ubisoft website, created new account, added my key for the game, and then did install. Game would crash upon loading after movie, so proceeded to TWoS install -- finished, and now it's all good!

manually installed ulauncher from ubisoft website, created new account, added my key for the game, and then did install. Game would crash upon loading after movie, so proceeded to TWoS install -- finished, and now it's all good!

One can even find valvo vacuum tubes which was distributed to kriegsmarine at eBay, how awesome would be to listen hydrophone via genuine kriegsmarine tube!

However there's no amplifier for it nowadays, even tube slot to build your own. They are just relics...

Hi Guys
Always update your game after installing or re-installing.
It has been become a common feature that when the game tries to connect to Uplay you may get a connection error even if the game launcher was not previously un-installed.
Pressing the Esc key and re-launching your game from the SH5.exe should get your game launched or to the Uplay login.
I seriously recommend installing a genuine independant game launcher that does not use the Program File (x86) Directory that can be installed anywhere on any drive.

It is the game launcher that is the problem causing the campaigns not to finish at the correct time and date.
You would have thought when Ubisoft passed the buck to Uplay 2 years or more ago now someone would have checked that Uplay had the correct data in the right place.
Apparantly not, and the game bought today is still corrupted unless a mega mod is used.

I think I used the "GR2EditorViewer.exe" program (data/Applications/GR2EditorViewer) and modified the "Room_QR1_silentmichal.GR2" file.

I tried all of the suggested solutions to get the original Ubisoft Game Launcher to work, but I had no luck at all getting it to work. No you do not want to install in to your main game folder, I would suggest the Ubisoft folder as in for example C:\Ubisoft

I tried for 2 days to get mine playing.

Eventually, yesterday, I did manage to get to the first mission in "British Costal Waters".

Try real hard to follow THEBERBSTER instructions.

It will help.

I just hope since I closed and exited mine, it will start over. :D

I had removed the halo from the lamp, but I could not turn on the light bulb. The "light bulb on" effect is only given by the lampshade luminescence. Unfortunately, the light bulb is in fact off, but the oscillating lamp and the luminescence of the lampshade create the illusion that the light bulb is on. Really sorry. :k_confused:

from what I remember of Rosslers Uboat book, between the b and c variants the layout was the same, there where no plans in it for the a variant. the main structural changes seem to have been beam and length to allow for greater fuel load etc

And a question:

How works the damage team? I have some light damage in the stern and bow of the boat, passed four days and no advance in reparations. I tried the special ability for more efficient damage team, but it is the same: it seems the boat remains damaged and the crew didnīt make nothing. I tried this surfaced and submerged.

I believe repairing is completely random, which is ok, sometimes you could do nothing with the damage.

I believe the repairing of structural and ballast/trim tanks, and maybe some other items, can only be done up to a certain point, then must be finished in port, where there is proper equipment to handle the repair.

Exactly, and this specially applies to a certain external equipment like shafts, rudders ect...:yep:

- Certain external equipment will not be repairable without dry dock in your home base. Diesel engines and batteries will be repairable but only up to certain level, depending of damage amount.

My original install on an older PC (Windows 10) has no issues but I recently finished building a new one and decided to install SH5 with Wolves of Steel on it. So far everything loads up fine but I noticed it says "American Career" top left on the menu and parts of the GUI are missing when it comes to commands. All of my crew have missing dialogue text but the functions still work whenever I press the empty space. Also the text for accepting an mission is glitched and has a line of code instead of actual text. The reports that are supposed to pop up in the bottom right of the screen are also mostly glitched with "A"+1, etc instead of the time zone and I don't get any text about contact reports. Another thing of note is the background of the main menu on my older installation has the U-boat pen from Das Boot in the background along with a slower song while my newer installation has an award ceremony along with some U-Boat footage with a different song that I always used to see on various videos (no idea on the name).

There is no "American career" in sh5 maybe you've blended SH4 an SH5 files?
You need uninstall all sh5 folder in documents folder too
Then better clean with CCleaner
And reinstall

My thoughts exactly...This is clear indication that something is not installed as it should. Your game still uses stock/incompatible Menu.txt file and probably some more from some reason...

Playable subs? Honestly, I don't think so...SH5 is just too different from his predecessors and we don't even have proper tool for granny format editing.
My U-FLaK will probably stay the only added playable sub for quite some time, I'm afraid...

On the other hand, few AI submarines could be added with a bit of work...

First ships then submarines , because they are somewhat trickier to import... :yep:
I also have to test every imported unit separately in order to fix all the notorious CTD issue involved around Uekel's mtns which have made this awesome mod practically forgotten...
It will be a lot of work but in any case, in following period I'm planning to import at least 10+ merchant types from SH3/SH4/GWX/mtns (1-2 per update, including light ships for neutral nations,) and AI type IX sub , together with some campaign layers optimizations tweaks in order to support changes.

Have you ever considered adding DBSM to TWoS, perhaps as an optional addon? I just love the movie.
I don't think so...Main TWoS installer is already getting to large to manipulate with, and this is all due to sound mods...
Anyway, You can use DBSM "Speech" with TWoS as long as you remove SH.sdl file from it...:yep:

Hello, great mod!

I was wondering, ship caustics seems to be missing from a lot of ships. Is there any way to enable it?

Also, any hint to what I need to change if I don't want time compression 1x when I'm not alerted by anything? So not get 'warned' by time compression every time something is close.

In your last update you say "Added "Start new campaign" informational tooltip which will inform player (once again) to make SAVE/RELOAD uppon first bunker visit."
But I no see this when play...
I know this is not important for gameplay... Just I don't know if I have no good installation of 2.09 update
Where I wrong?

Warming up for the great salvaging operation of Uekel's mtns - more traffic, nations and ships 1_8f from the bottom of Subsim mod ocean...:)

I checked the files and it is really amassing how much work Uekel had done on this mod which unifies a ton of work from various SH3, GWX and SH4 modders, yet the mod it self was never used much due to significant game stability issues when mnts was combined with some other mods like OHII, NewUIs ect...

Luckily, now I know how to cure these problems so we can revive Uekel's work and breathe in new life to it in the form of TWoS...:salute:

I'd say that in a month or two we will have in TWoS such variety of merchants and warships that even GWX captains will envy us...:O:

I will say this, GWX has things that TWoS can't have, least wise yet.

Both have good points, and both have bad ones.

I have only just started playing TWoS. So I have a lot to learn yet.

And in spite of all that, I still prefer the type IXD2 boats.
