I was writing about targets' :) reflections and transparency. My Uboot reflects in the water.
Few imported dat ships don't have reflections...No big deal IMO...

one thing I don't get the hang of is manual diveplane control. i can click on full up but it will go back to whatever the chief orders immediately. is there something I am missing?

as for the rest: yes I realise that simulated and modded sub behaviour must be FAR from the real deal, but I once wrote an essay stating that realism is in the eye of the beholder. there is a fine balance between actual historical realism and gameplay which 'feels' real. So that's where my griping takes place. (must be annoying for you and if so, i'm sorry. lot of hard work done and people comment on tiny little things they don't agree with :smug: )
to illustrate: Sitting in my VIIC in SH3, at 190 meters, destroyer coming in, he gets his DC's close and the whole boat shakes around. no damage though, lucky! next attack, lights go out, valves break and water streams into control room. 'Cut silent running! Every spare hand on damage control!' It's terribly exciting and probably wholly unrealistic. In SH4 it was underwhelming. And now in SH5 it's just.... anticlimactic. no beautiful ominous pressure sounds, just a little SH4 creaking. then a DC attack gets close. no wobbling, no sense of being hammered. But a little more damage in yellow percentages which you can't do much with. See the point? Its the main problem all SH games had, I think. Getting the feel of the thing just right. Anyway I keep noticing awesome little details which certainly enrich SH5 and make it stand out. Real navigation is just fantastic! I'll say again: good job! BTW in the recon manual, the description of the Deutschland is mismatched, it's got pictures and description of the pre-dreadnought Schleswig-Holstein type. (I just love reading those pages, awesome stuff!)
Yes, I see your point...SH5 still lacks some of those cool atmospheric elements indeed... For example, Dc shake range had to be cut down to distance slightly over DC max damage range because even shake effects from DC sim file will from some reason cause damage to your sub and destroyers them self which is not good at all...
However, increased sound volume of exploding DC may have similar cool effect...:hmm2:

im curious, will wait for that vid if you make one. I watched another one called 'extreme depth keeping in VIIC/41' but i think that was an older mod. it didnt help much

Thanks for the fast reply and sorry for not taking a sec to see the second post.
But there is another thing that I didn't see there which I would like to have ingame and that is, seeing ships and stuff on the map like in the original.
I am very new and want to start off a little arcadish way of playing then advance. Is there any way to get these icons back?(and sorry again if I missed obvious info) :)

Good to know :D. Yep, submarines are second my love after aviation (as You see Im here from 2005!). I was very angry what Ubisoft did in SHV so I had big break. God bless all creators of this mod! :sunny:

Today I was targeting a merchant ship (she was really close) and I noticed that it´s crew were moving around the ship. Does this happen with all ships in the game? Because I´ve been playing it for some days (with OHII) and haven´t noticed it so far...

I promptly ran aground when trying to exit Memel harbour while trying to find stuff to order navigation. I think I need to do those autoscripts for introduction and tutorials?

That is indeed a feature. You are now using Realnavigation.
Look up some tutorials on Realnavigation to see how the autoscripts for that work. If you have trouble exciting a port there are also harbour pilot autoscripts in the game.

Will do. I'm looking forward to figure out the sextant use. As for the harbour: It was just a shovel of sand under our keel. We've reached open water and it's 240 miles or so to the target area. I gotta find out how to make TC work, too.

I got a new peoblem and that is, I cant get the speed of enemy ships when clicking on them on the map. I get cordinates and stuff but speed just say "Speed ---"
I have enabled the settings in the OptionsFileEditorViewer but I just cant get it to work.
Can someone help me?

I can't seem to make TC work and with the number of cfgs that define the keybinds I have no clue where to look. Anyway, it doesn't work by clicking on the UI either.

question about Campaign. How to begin Happy Times? Next part of the Campaign? Im in 16.06.1940 and I dont see the overlap with new mission (on map). I was on patrol between 25.04.40 - 16.06.40. I docked in bunker in Wilhelmshaven too (for test after save), spoke with commander and didn't see proposition of Happy Times.

Still don't know how to add crew that walk on the ship, but that's not my main problem.
The main problem are textures. I've used dds texture from one previously imported ship with ship shown on the picture . As you can see they match perfectly.
However, I wasn't so lucky when I tried to import one medium sized tanker from Sh4...

Now, when I look better at your third screenshot it seems that your campaign is broken from some reason...My guess is that you have forgot to save/reload the game when you first time entered bunker in Memel harbour on your campaign start? :hmm2:

Preset ship crew groups are found in data\Library\Patch_* folders. In order to see any of them, open its .GR2 file in Goblin Editor, and merge the corresponding .chr file. Crew waypoints are a bit off center; if you have problems bringing the characters within Goblin's viewport, select model's main bone, and from the 'View' menu select 'Center on selection'.
The numbers denoting each crew group are not random: they indicate the approximate empty space (in meters) the characters will need aboard for them walking through walls. A few examples: Patch_1x1 means a single static character, suited for filling an 1x1 sm space; Patch_1x10 means a group of characters placed/walking along a 1m-wide, 10m-long corridor; Patch_1x10x6 means a group of characters placed/walking along a L-shaped corridor, whose legs are 1m-wide and respectively 10 and 6-m long. If you open those files, you will understand what I mean. You can also create some custom crew groups, but this is a bit more complicated.
For placing crew aboard a newly imported ship, you need to create as many nodes/bones as the number of crew groups you want your ship to display. Once you are done with the bones/nodes cloning process, you have two ways to link the newly created nodes/bones to the desired crew group models; you can:
name the node according to the crew models you want to be linked to them. I.e. if you want a given node to display the 1x20_version02 crew model, just call it 'LNK@1x20_version02'. Using this method, crew names are "hardcoded" into the ship model, and are not configurable.
The second method is naming crew nodes 'cfg#P<#>_<model name>', etc, where <#> is a progressive number (numbering format commonly used: 01, 02, etc.) required to identify different crew nodes/bones within the same model, and <model name> is the name assigned to model's main bone. Once finished, you should edit unit's .eqp file, the way you would do with any other equipment.
Nodes should be placed as close as possible to the deck surface if you want crew not to levitate above the deck nor to stick out the from the deck with their feet below it. When adjusting bones' positions, stick in mind that 1 unit length in S3ditor/GR2 Editor is equal to 10 m on the model. Moreover, you may need to adjust bone's y-axis rotation in order to make crew characters to be aligned along the correct correctly.

Where did you get the oiler model from? If you don't have SHIV installed on your PC, have you tried looking for that texture in Uekel's ship pack?

I am an experienced Silent hunter modder and have done so since SH3. I have recently tried again to patch this monstrosity that is SH5, and I again am running into problems with it. I followed your instructions without a hitch until I got to the 6th step. I could not find the "TWoS 1.04_Snapshot.gps" . I tried copying the "TDW_SH5_Patches.s5p" and renaming it to that, but still no luck. I moved on and launched the game and it worked fine, up until I started a campaign. I clicked start campaign and said yes to skip tutorial, and it went through the loading screen. During the loading screen, it CTD. What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I had to redownload th .cfg according to the instructions because I could not find it in that folder, and I did backup the files that this post: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2311571&postcount=1649 told me to.

The Snapshot gps file is inside the Snapshot folder.
Look in TDW's Generic File Patcher (GFP) and you will see the Snapshot folder.
When you know where it is all you need to do is go to Restore Snapshot in the GFP.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately, there are no files in my snapshot folder. I searched the entire SH5 folder for the file im looking for and the snapshot folder. Maybe I need a direct download to that file?

P.S. there was only one file in the entire Silent Hunter 5/TDW_GenericPatcher after my initial install (a patches folder). There is another snapshot folder in data/applications/Generic patcher, but its not there either
I found out what I did wrong. I forgot to drag in a few files from the origional zip

Ok I used "silentotto" to start Happy times. Just pity that I loose all features & experience of my crew.

It is called Mehr Traffic, Nationen und Schiffe (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=1652560#post1652560) and it contains quite a big selection of ships imported from stock SHIV as well as from some popular mega-mods for SHIII and IV. Unfortunately the mod lacked the popularity it deserved due to the fact that for some reason it crashed the game if enabled in conjunction with TDW's UI. Perhaps both mods are too "heavy" to be handled by the game or, who knows, some other type of conflict.
I could upload tomorrow for you 3 imported ships as a single mod together with original dds textures. Then you wont need to bother your self with SH4 installation? Is that OK?

If you like, you can add one more ship to your total: it is the Nippon ("Kawasaki") type fleet oiler (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki-type_oiler) which I imported looong ago from SHIV and never released. It was my hope porting her, together with other units, to the GR2 format, but as usual my projects take way too long. The ship could make a good replacement for British Wave-class (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave-class_oiler) replenishment oiler.
If you don't have objections we can add her to TWoS while we wait for a general revamp of the dat units imported so far in game.

If you like, you can add one more ship to your total: it is the Nippon ("Kawasaki") type fleet oiler (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki-type_oiler) which I imported looong ago from SHIV and never released. It was my hope porting her, together with other units, to the GR2 format, but as usual my projects take way too long. The ship could make a good replacement for British Wave-class (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave-class_oiler) replenishment oiler.
If you don't have objections we can add her to TWoS while we wait for a general revamp of the dat units imported so far in game.

Yes indeed, MTNS isn't the most bug free mod, quite the opposite, but I guess converting all of the units it conatins within a reasonable time wasn't an easy task for one person :yep:

Which one? I have just downloaded your pack. The problem might be caused by a missing ambient occlusion map, wrong reflection map, or wrong material settings :hmmm:

When the dat unit conversion method was discovered, the focus was especially on small/medium size merchants, scarcely represented in stock game. The Japanese tanker was more a personal experiment than else.

I has been a long time since when I worked on that unit. I don't remember exactly which files I edited, but I think everything was okay. You can have a look by yourself:

Thank to You all. I've installed my old sh5 with WoS and it;s working, ohhh it is so goood!
But there is one thing, mouse is "jumping", it is not fluent (sory for my english). I can play with that but it is annoying - especcially in critical battle moments when you have to hurry :)
I am afraid it is my graphic card. I have got Intel(R) HD Graphic - is it a little bit to small? Should I get a better card?

I do not think it is a corrupted file although it still might be unless you have tried separate re-installations with the TWOS download.
I would be inclined to look at your game to resolution settings.
This is not the first time I have seen this type of problem.
If you cannot sort it out here then I would suggest that you put it out on the SH5 forum for all to see.

Hello, I am completely new to SH5 and yesterday I decided to try out this mod but I quickly ran into issue where I can't see my boat on the map (The icon is gone). I am running steam version of the game, I also had to skip the step 6 so my game would start up without errors.

Will try reg cleaning. Yes, followed each step, no errors or warnings. I noticed that when map is zoomed out and never zoomed in before marks are there, but after zooming in they disappear. And about missions, the mission list on the upper left corner of the map is like moved up so I cant click on missions, only on completed tutorial mission mark. Did save/load after start of new game, skipped tutorial. No other mods. May be there is a way to use another UI or map or something?

Hey all,
I have wolves of steel 1.04 but i don't seem to be able to download patch 10 for this and it seems i need it as every-time I try the game it crashes to desktop without any notification. The game loads then when it should load the game the screen turns out black and then i go back to desktop. When I try to download patch 10 I get a notification that I cant due to the fact i need to donate however i only can use sofort banking I don't have a Paypal to donate.

is there any alternate way to donate to this site? like direct payment to someone of the staff? "contact me personally if so"

I dont have ship identification under torpedo atack :shifty:
Click the "Charts" icon in top-right menu or just press "E" to see charts and chart list/menu.
Ship recognition will be enabled by default (left side of screen, hidden not to obstruct player's view) ;)
Is it normal when running the Generic Patcher part of the install intructions to get error messages?

I'm not new to installing mods, and followed the instructions exactly.
p.s. I'm NOT using the steam version of the game.
Just checked the version in the main menu and apparently Uplay installed version 1.1.5 instead of 1.2.
Had to run the game updater manually in the game install folder.
Geez, now i remember why i hate Uplay :/\\!!

Yes it is, but if i remember correctly i wouldn't need to dock anyway right? Usually when a campaign ends you get teleported right to the next screen

You do not get teleported anywhere to the next campaign "Happy Times."
That sounds like something you may have remembered that may well have happened in the stock game.

The button is disabled in WoS because it´s basially a cheat. To get the manual you have to activate the charts (button on the right side) and then you most likely have to drag it out because it´s hidden on the side of your screen. Only one of those brown handles should be visible.

Press the shortcut key "E" to see the Recognition Manual
I respect your view on this which you are quite entitled to make but I do not agree with you that it is a cheat.
An experienced officer should be able to identify a target relatively easy as it is his job to do so.
The number of target variants also is quite limited in SH5 to where you see the same type of target quite regularly.
More than that If TWOS is going to be as successful as we all hope it is then it has to appeal to all types of gamers not just those who have the ability to use manual TDC and real navigation.
The inexperienced gamer needs help in moving on from just a point a shoot situation to something that is a bit more challenging.
The ability to use or not use the identify the target icon is down to how the gamer wants to play the game.

I did see yoyo's post, but there was no solution other than use silentotto. I don't want to loose my crew experience everytime i finish a campaign. Is there no other solution?
I'm probably in the same situation as you, currently I'm at April 1940 and all my missions except the tutorial says "pending" even though I've completed them all. I followed the install intructions very carefully and I did the reload as per instruction. hopefully there is a way to get around this issue.

Hi.
So I decided to try out SH5 again and wanted to learn to use manual TDC, but the stadimeter don't always work. I press the stadimeter button but sometimes nothing happens. Am I missing something?
Also, how do I identify a ship? I find the ship in the ship identification book and send mast height to TDC but it always says unknown ship.
I am using the CD version.

I have this problem again too. I used silentotto to skip to Happy Times. Next I saved mission in bunker when I was before the first patrol, loaded. Now Im in 27 III 1941 and I still see the "Happy times" tittle and no new missions. All missions I had "Completed" but in Esc screen "Pending" :( .
I was on patrol in 1.03.1941.

I might be wrong but my logical thoughts regarding the "pending" will always stay as pending.
When the tonnage bar was active and filled each mission would then show as "completed"
If you are looking for the original tonnage targets that were used to complete each mission that refers to "pending" then you need to look in your saved games campaign folder.

Im not sure, but each mission from Happy Times was completed by me with green text as "Completed" (tonnage bar isnt present now in WofS, but I always sank more than 70.000 BRT):

Now I'm after the 1 of March 41 and again I have a problem to start the new part of Campaign (Mare Nostrum - Breakthrough Gibraltar perhaps). Didn't see it. In the 1th of March I was on patrol for sure and I did save/load this time in bunker when I was in the first time in Atlantic Air Gap mission. Just I recived VII C version now.

This is not good at all. We may have another incarnation of old ubisoft related tonnage bar bug on our hands...:nope: if my guess is true that tonnage bug effects mission/campaign end dates too, then we are all screwed...:-?

Yeah it didn't work unfortunately, my thought was that once the missions were "completed" it would automatically forward you the the next campaign.
There must be some way to manually load the next campaign without losing all your experience. I've tried to swap campaign files in the saved games folder. It does load the new campaign but unfortunately the game crashes once you press "Let's start the new patrol". I'm gonna keep on trying to see if I can get it to work
Here is my save before 1.03.41 (24.02.41 I think) from the end of "Happy Times", 6 days before the new Chapter of campaing (1.03). 3 missions was completed too from "The Happy times".

Checked but without good result (Campaign-2015-10-24_2126/campaign.cfg - just the new campaign without experience of crew and upgrade points and history of patrols, BRT ect. like "silentotto" option only.
I did Today the one exercise. Started again totally the new Campaign from "Baltic operation" 31.08.39. I did save/load in Memel bunker before I spoke with commander and after this I did successfully two orders: report task force - done - Completed, next I sank 3 Polish ships (near 5.000 BRT) - Completed. I returned to Kiel, took a new mission (Eastern British Coastal Waters) and I have still "Pending" Baltic operation in Esc/final screen. Something is broken....

An unmerged version would introduce a whole lot of compatibility problems I guess. If you want an unmerged version you will have to download all the mods yourself and figure out what has to overwrite what...

Replacing all 4 files seems to work well so far. No mission breifing graphics issue. The uboat upgrades/crew experience as well as patrol logs/tonnage has all been transfered from the previous chapter.

I have downloaded the save game folder you uploaded on the previous page of this thread. And I did the procedure I described before and it worked for me.
When I loaded your game save from 24/2-1941 I used time compression to forward to 1/3-1940. Then I returned to the base and saved the game while in the bunker. I replaced the files and loaded game and the campaign chapter had changed from Happy waters to Mare Nostrum.
The file called CampaignMission.tsr was not generated in the new game save folder for me too when I used "silentotto to start the Mare Nostrum campaign. I only replaced the 3 other files.
However the CampaignMission.tsr file seems not to be that much of importance. When I started a Happy Times campaign using "silentotto" it generated this file but it only contained the following text:

Ok big thx for You help too! Now I know what I did wrong. Now Im in Mare Nostrum - Breakthrough Gibraltar and with experience of crew and upgrade points and history. Looks like everything is ok! :up:
Short tutorial:
1. Create a save file in the bunker the next chapter using "silentotto" cheat (before You will talk with commander). Fore example the chapter for Mare Nostrum starts in 1.03.41. You can check it here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1791497&postcount=2
2. Go to last Your save in the previous chapter. You must be on the patrol when the last day of previous chapter incoming. At the first day of the next chapter go to Your port (1.03.41). Take option "End the patrol" and save a game in dry dock in this day.
3. Exit a game. Back to the new save with "silentotto" the new chapter C:\Users\name of user\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames\xxxxxxx and take all files from this folder (do a copy):
Campaign.cfg
CampaignMission.mis
CampaignProgress.cfg
4. Put this 3 files to Your save of Your current Campaign (so this save when You did in dry dock after the patrol). Overwrite it.
5. Load Your save from current campaign. Now You have Your renewal points and promotions point of crew and history of patrols from Your previous chapter! Upgrade Your systems and torpedos, talk with Commander and You can go to next patron from the new chapter!
Now You can swim again!

I'm afraid that replacing only mentioned files wont work ether...:hmmm: Flotillas settings are messed up. For example, home base in YoYo's Mare Nostrum campaign is Lorien because he is still in the same flotilla like in HT campaign. It shouldn't be like that...

Yes, and this is not good because you will have to pass trough Gibraltar every time in order to end your patrol...Tomorrow we can try to make some manual changes in CareerTrack.upc file, maybe that will help...
In Svedan's case (CW to HT shift) all should be fine because both campaigns features same 2nd flotilla...

Disable patch for increased rendering distance, go south as much as possible , ease your TC, save and restart the game just before Gibraltar. That should help...

No mate :), TDW Generic patcher, you will find patch for increased rendering distance there...
I've tried to pass the Gibraltar and yes FPS is very poor (there's million air and sea units over there) but no CTD. 2 times actually...and 2 deaths... :D Uswed max 16 TC, cant do it more because my FPS was single digit...

I'm glad you like them guys. Those are all stock SH4 ships, some slightly altered (masts number, type and positioning) to mimic some merchants types historically used in allied convoys, like large ore carrier (1st pic), Granvill type freighter(4th pic) ect (just like in GWX :yep:)...

Yours will be Blue.
When you open the highlighted patch you will see a number of patches.
Each one of them needs to be disabled so they show red.
Your main patch will then show red as in the picture.

No...You can disable electric engines ratio patches with TDW generic patcher but you will lose some of the megamods functionality then...

just got back to SH5 after a year or so - I have a classic seasonal job so loads of work until autumn and lots of free time in winter on the other hand. So I installed this great modpack again and again I have to thank to all the modders for making this buggy game very well playable and vdr1981 putting it all together.
My first patrol today around Danzig Bay. Sank a merchant, then patroling for a while to achieve my objectives. Found another merchant, it was midday, quiet sea, good visibility - for me and the merchant of course so I ordered periscope depth. Went to attack periscope and suddenly I saw this Stuka diving in and the merchant went down in no time !!! MOST IMPRESSED !!
My second great surprise was when I found another merchant (since the previous one was 'stolen' from me by that Stuka - thanks Luftwaffe), however my watchman suddenly reports enemy submarine sighted !! Great stuff again !! Anyway she was quite far away so I did finally commence my attack and sank the merchant completing my Danzig Bay mission.
So definitely THINGS DO WORK here so THANK YOU again.
Now just one question please: if I need to make any changes do I make them through the Generic Patcher, or through TheDarkWraithUserOptions file/patcher? Or do I need to make changes in both of these files simultaneously? Which file/patcher is superior to the other?

Use TDW's Options File Editor Viewer to customize your game.
First you need to disable your mods before making any changes.

I know we do these kind of things only in between patrols when in the port, but still isn't that bit too risky? I have never had any problems making adjustments to the OFEV in mid patrol, game not running.
73 manual saves to date made, no problems at all.
I have to admit that I have cheated a bit in my current Patrol 7
"Infiltrate Commando Team Near Narvik"
I took one look at that and new I was never going to be able to cope with Real Navigation on that one so I disabled it.
Definitely the right decision for me,having dropped the troops off it was very shallow, and, I did not have the benefit of any fog.
Very tense at times, so shallow.

You mean the videos in my signature? No, back then I was using Magnum Opus if I remember correctly, don't think TWoS even existed back then. Those vids were rather an experiment, I like messing around with Movie Maker.

In every save from the first mission of Mare Nostrum (patrol CH76 and 73) I have CTD when Id like to load a game. Maybe traffic here is to big or something else? Tested 6x :wah: .

Just for info, but for sure - any advices welcome.
In every save from the first mission of Mare Nostrum (patrol CH76 and 73) I have CTD when Id like to load a game. Maybe traffic here is to big or something else? Tested 6x :wah: .

General impression is that your game is rather unstable which is strange because I really cant remember when I saw CTD in my game during normal gameplay ...:hmm2: Have you recently add or remove some additional mods during your campaign?
Sounds like broken gamesave...Fin one that works and try to continue your campaign.

Just to confirm that all missions in the first campaign changed from pending to finished apart from the last mission that I am currently playing.
75 manual saves completed, no problems.

Excellent, this means that when you reach 1/06/1940 you will be transferred to Happy times without any problems and need to do "sillentotto" workaround...:up:
Note that Mama's solution with TWoS is necessary only when expecting campaign transfer, on campaign ending. Before that date, you can load your gamesaves with or without setting OSI.exe priority, there will be no significant impact on campaign progress.
In the next patch I'm going to upload new Snapshot with with disabled Uplay browser patch. :yep:

Gamers who do not currently use TWOS but still have the tonnage bar but maybe updating their save games manually would they need to activate the osi in processes each time they load their game for the tonnage bar to work properly?

CONFIRM: We need to DISABLE THE TWoS VANILLA DISABLED UPLAY WITH OFEV, passing it to RED CROSS, enabling Uplay.
I tried it and works fine, OSI.exe loaded with game start.

Gamers who do not currently use TWOS but still have the tonnage bar but maybe updating their save games manually would they need to activate the osi in processes each time they load their game for the tonnage bar to work properly?

As a general advice i recommend to enable OSI each time the main game is loaded. Remember that while the game is running you can freely save or load your campaign multiple times without need of doing anything with OSI, since it shut down only when the main game is quitted.
Regarding the tonnage bar and all data related to ships sunk and other records : OSI is responsible also for those checks so i recommend to not leave it disabled during patrols. If something important is not recorded and updated you may miss some event to be triggered (like the tonnage bar correct update for who still use it).
At all effects if OSI is Always enabled and running correctly there is no need to manually do anything. Given the fact that the campaign hasn't any bug (the original had a lot of them...).
Since i'm not well inside TWOS mechanichs i do not know how Vecko's changes deals with OSI when it works correctly, i can't give details on that, for sure he knows more about that :) .

hose are all stock SH4 ships, some slightly altered (masts number, type and positioning) to mimic some merchants types historically used in allied convoys, like large ore carrier (1st pic), Granvill type freighter(4th pic) ect (just like in GWX :yep:)...

I had a look into the new ships, and I have noticed you have replaced some model parts, most notably some of the lifeboats with the new masts. You don't need to do so. Cloning a node in S3d is as easy as selecting it, pressing Shift Ctrl C (the Shift key is used for copying a node together with its child chunks), selecting again the node that you want your new node to be placed below, and pressing Ctrl V. Once you are done, you must change the Id of the cloned node and of any sub-node, change the bone label (i.e. its name) appropriately, and then change the linked 3d model to anything you want. If need be, you can also import a completely new mesh into the dat file.
This is the quickest way to do it, but there is a more elegant method which allows us to fully customize any unit, and having many variants of it without having to physically clone dat/zon/sim/dsd/val files. This is done by setting Y configurable equipment nodes. They are used the way regular equipment is. Once you have cloned and re-numbered a node (for ease you should use as base another equipment node), change its name replacing the letter denoting equipment type (A, M, L, P, etc.) with a Y, and move its coordinates to where the new part should be placed on the main model. When you are done, import the new mast/funnel/turret, etc. you want your model to sport into a new dat file (if you are using as base a dat file previously used in game, never forget changing nodes' id and names), add to it a zon file and any other binary file the new structure might need, copy the new files into the library folder and link them to the model through eqp file.
If you create a dummy copy of the ship, you can have two or more customized versions of her, or you can simulate late-war changes to the superctructure of the same ship, by creating many entries in the same eqp file, one with and the other without or witn a different new structure.
If the new structure is derived from the same model that it will be used on, you can also set it to use the same diffuse/ambient occlusion texture as the main model. This way, any paint/camo scheme will be inherited. If need be, you can also slightly edit/reshape the cloned structure so to make it to fit better into its new position. As long as the changes done wont distort too much the existing UV maps, and vertex coordinates of main and AO model will be identical, there shouldn't be problems in doing so.
If you have SHIV installed, you can look for examples into the library/ship parts folder. There are not examples of this method being used in stock SH5, but it should work just the same. :up:

I reinstalled the game. Osi.exe runs on the vanilla version. Then installed TWOS and osi.exe doesn't run anymore.
No any problems with Your last saves from campaign after reinstallation?

I didn't experience any problems after I reinstalled the game. It might be best to load an old save from bunker, but I didn't do that and it worked anyway.
No, I did not start a new campaign, I just copied over the old saves and loaded the last one I made. Campaign progress worked automatically as it should

I noticed only strange thing with upgrades. If I use "silentotto" only I can choose "biskaya kreuz" from mechanic in bunker, but when I continue the campaign it isn't possible.
Is it possible to add it manually in any cfg file?

Sure I find the grid with two letters and first two numbers, but how do I find the other two numbers? Went through maps and everything, but couldn't find any tool that would reveal this.... Thanks

Was good, though the destroyers in Scapa are still reluctant to do anything, also anti-sub nets in Kirk Sound are little bit off it's place (remember they were ok before, but yesterday I saw them with these buoys they're mounted to like 2 m above the water - maybe just a glitch of my installation, don't know....). And then on the way back RAF patroling and these guys don't care about the german sub in the area either.... They literally flew above me mid day.
Anyway all in all the atmosphere of the raid was still good, on the way back I received the message I was reassigned to Wilhelmshaven so I docked there and now I'm already out again patroling British Eastern coast - looking for a relevant grid.

Things MAY be little better in other ports because I've rearranged harbor protection waypoints in a attempt to counteract this ugly bug but again, this also may be another in series of futile attempts...In general, I don't recommend harbor raids because they are not realistic and because of various game/AI limitations.

If you disable AI units falling trough sea floor patch via TDW gen.patcher they will be placed correctly but again, your units will fall through sea floor if sunk in shallow water. ..

Yes, saw this many times and it will mostly happen if plane skill settings are low (quite frequent in early war) and/or if there isn't enough light (foggy day or cloudy, morning time, evening time ect)... In general, despite all the efforts TDW invested in it, airplanes AI can still be stupid as hell...:D Although, the will frequently attack you during campaign but they are not effective as they should be IMO...

I don't have much time now to learn in details S3d but I will be happy to add any modification/fix/revision for those ships you come up with...:up:
Well I was just asking about the grid tool, but also reporting back. You obviously are aware of these things as you're digging in files all the time, but still what an achievement with this modpack and all the mods involved. Remember installing SH5 after release and instantly I went 'where the hell is depth under keel button? Where's return to course command?' And that was just a begining.
Wolves of steel makes this sim very well playable. One just has to learn how to treat the game and it's engine, then it works just fine with few glitches which are definitely bearable.
As for the planes I do remember RAF from SH3+GWX where an approaching aeroplane was simply a problem forcing me to periscope depth, sometimes when spotted late crash dive was inevitable. Which felt good of course making the experience even more intense.

Edit: Now I tried again and silly me, I went through the recognition manual many times, clicked 'maps', but forgot to use the scroll button where the detailed grid tool is hidden. BUT IT IS THERE isn't it?

SHIV manages ship damage in a different way than its successor. I am afraid we won't ever see that happening in game until we similarly slipt the visible mesh in two or more parts and, possibly, we import them in a GR2 file :-?

Thank you YoYo. The ship in the second video is a Liberty (GR2, native to stock game) ship, and I could not spot any ship splitting in two in the first video. :hmm2:

The first one to be hit split into two, I believe its a Hog Island Type A.
Again smth. that was already in the game....

Yesterday I reinstalled SH5 1.2+WofS 1.04+up.11.
I noticed strange water bug Today (hmmm shaders or shadows), I didnt see it before.
Its a only in sunny day, looking at a specific angle (more than 90 deg. vertical).

I've managed to narrow it down to Patch 11 or real navigation after disabling the handful of other mods I use
I'm also getting very slight stuttering but it's tolerable, I have not had any problems with CTD's stablility or mod combos for a long time and have been able to sort all bugs up to date being reasonably confident on how to use Generic Patcher/ Mod enabler: /viewer etc
Are there any known problem with the above I may of missed I could do with a helping hand before I have a Nervous Breakdown:/\\!! This Is my first post - I was unable to start a new thread

OK Here we go .... The CTD is with Patch 11
It happens after leaving Memel nautical time was 4 hours after leaving bay on direct course to Danzig I've rerun it many times sometimes start time is 10.00pm CTD exactly at 02.00am although departure is in the daytime occasionally

thanks for the quick reply I will provide more info tomorrow I'm signing off soon its late and my head is battered with SH5 its come close to having a ritual burning (The game not my head) on many occasions its a cross I/we have to bear I love the game
