With deactivated mods and TWoS in stock version I have already the same issue and the sub do not have any smoke exhaust effects.
I had no time for more testings.
If I have the time, I can try a new installation of SH5 and TWoS and check if this solve the issue but I think Vecko should say something to this issue before I do anything more.

I play TWOS mod for six months now and installed the update for 2.2.24 yesterday. But in main menu it still shows 2.2.13 in the upper left corner. Do I have to reinstall the whole mod, therefore SH5 Exp.Pack_v2.2.24_Full? And will my game saves be compatible with the new version?

Hey, if it shows 2.2.13 then you have not installed update correctly. Perhaps wrong folder or you didn't run it with admin rights, or you didn't disable all addons in JGSME during install? Anyway, you'll have to install update again.

As for save games, they will be compatible, though some of the changes may only take effect after you return from patrol.

I tested this first but with SubExhaust 1.0.5 by TheDarkWraith the game crashed if I load a gamesave or also just a historical mission, instead of the testmission from SubExhaust 1.0.5 by TheDarkWraith. I activated it at the end of all other mods but I tested it not as just the only activated one.

Hi! I just reinstalled SH5, previously I have just used stand alone mods installed with JGSME, I would like to try TWOS, but where would I find the current download version? Sorry to ask, there are 916 posts or pages to the thread, and I have eye issues, corneal transplants, and it would be extremly hard for me to dig through them all, thanks so much in advance.

Smoke in boats: I see in 2.2.23 a very tiny smoke in the exhaust holes. Really very tiny.

Never Mind I saved and reloaded the game and it went away. Maybe a bug. I`m running the latest steam version with wolves of steel.

So after a full reinstallation, both SH5 and TWOS, it still shows 2.2.13. I don't know if this is a bug, but this version doesn't seem to work for me :06:

I think you are a victim of an old bug of vanilla SH5, the "sticky destroyers". Save your game and reload it is the solution.

I tested with the test mission ... then with the campaign ... it works but the smoke and very low ... even with different engine speed with the mods is ditto .... :k_confused: moreover it depends on the camera angle and the light otherwise you would hardly see anything
it would be necessary to ask vdr 1981 to know where to intervene ? :wah:

Nope, not possible. All U boats have visible smoke exhausts except Uflak...

In order to have clearly visible smoke exhausts, particles have to be set quite high. :yep: I have mine set one step from maximum for example...:yep:

Excuse me, but I know my SH5 installation path (E:/Spiele/Steam/Steamapps/common/Silent Hunter 5). TWOS therefore works absolutely fine, but it is still v2.2.13. Neither the update nor the full package changed anything: Top right corner says v1.20 and top left corner v2.2.13. I did every step mentioned in the PDF manual.

I use steam version of SH5 by the way.

The reason for the wrong shown version is the German translation of TWoS from Han2007, because the version is just a text in one file.
This is the reason why I do not use it anymore an play it in Englisch.

I done today a complete new installation of SH5 mit all UBI patches and install than TWoS. Everything was fine but in stock version of TWoS - without any mods - I cannot see any smoke on the subs. I know I had it in past but I cannot tell when or when I lose it, because I noticed it last weekend with TWoS version 2.2.23.

Do have AMD or NVidia and which driver version do you use?
In SH5 I have all graphic setting on the highest value. And I do not think that the settings from the AMD driver can be a reasons, because all other ships have smoke instead of the subs. :03:

i play nvidia gtx980 with latest drivers 461.92 whql certify
processor intel i5 760 motherboard gigabyte P55a ud3 yes me also the boats have no problem n y the rest ... but the submarine very little to smoke ...
you should know the Vecko config with these settings because he has no problem oh yes my game is an ubi dematerialiser gold version :03:

Hello, I want to play SH5 again on new pc, and with the TWOS mod, yes im late to the party, but want to play. Which is easier to do? I have an original DVD copy of the game, its it better to install it and mod that, OR I also have it on UBI digital connect, in which case, I see this in the install notes, and have no idea what that means. Can anyone help please? Many Thanks!



If you own Digital/Ubisoft Connect downloadversion of the game, you'll have to perform manual sh5.exe replacement before you proceed to TWoS installation.

i would go with the dvd if you use u-play or connect whatever it call then you have to copy the exe from your dvd or from the download here and replace the sh5 exe with it

My compass / rudder control is stuck in the bottom right corner of the map screen in TWoS -- can't seem to move it, can't steer. Help!

_Check your: TWoS - "OptionsFileEditorViewer" if everything is in order ...
_ uninstall all your mods ... then launch the game with your "Viewer" options in order.
_then go try your rudder normally it should work now ...
_then reinstall your mods ... do not add anything that is not Vecko's job

I've gotten the ship auto-recognition to work for the most part, where the weapons officer says the name of the ship, but I just wanted to confirm, there's no way to have the recognition manual automatically pop up with the identified ship, is there (like the way it was in SH3 GWX)? I know it's more realistic this way, but it can be quite tedious clicking through all the cargo ships.

Thanks, I found an option to put the name and type of ship on the periscope (as in my screenshot below), but specifically, I was wondering if there's a way to automatically bring up the targeted ship in the recognition book, in case I want more info on the ship? I tried clicking on the name, but it didn't do anything.

Some addons are listed with the instruction "*enable the addon in port" - what does this exactly mean?

Do I need to disable the addon when I quit the game(before I start the game again?)

What if I have enabled the addon before going to sea and save my game whilst at sea, will loading the save file while having the addon enabled in JSGME make it still function correctly?

I believe it just means that it's not a good idea to enable the addon and then load a savegame at sea in the middle of a mission because that can cause glitches. Better to wait until your savegame is in port, then enable the addon, then set sail. No need to disable it each session.

Does 2.2.24 still use thermal layers? I've gone to ~150m and yet to find one. I've been in the Baltic, which is unlikely, North Sea, Norway Sea and the Atlantic and without any luck.

For example, I was playing last night and my officer identified a troop transport with no problem, and it brought up the manual automatically. But then a Granville freighter came along and when I clicked "Identify target", nothing happened. No name, no recognition manual. I had to identify it the manual way (turning auto-TDC off). I think I read somewhere this might have something to do with "cloned" ships but wasn't sure what that meant.

Yes, it's normal since in some cases multiple cloned units have only one common rec.manual entry...:yep:

Hi, I just installed this mod and going through the tutorial scripts, but I'm stuck at the "manual tdc 90 deg" one. It asks me to press space to track the target and a yellow marker appears on the map, but after 10mins in-game-time the yellow marker is still at the exact same spot.

Am I supposed to update the position somehow? The yellow marker doesn't even have the correct bearing as reported by XO.

Edit: After messing around, I think I got it figured out. Yellow marker was not the target but a map fix of my current location, and I have to manually calculate the location of the target on the map.

Ahoi everyone,
I ran into a problem. I lost my CD so I bought a Uplay key, installed Sh5, it worked just fine, but after installing TWOS, when I try to open the game with Uplay Connect, it prepares the launch, and then I a get a window saying: "Game startup failed. Please check Uplay installation. If I try to start the game through the exe, Uplay wants me to give in an activation key? But if I enter my Key it says it is already used, I mean, of course, I used it to activate it into my Libary. Had anyone else related Problems and knows how to solve it?

The ones you're using look like they're from the ARB GUI for SH3 while mine look like the default SH3 ones. Did you use a mod to change to those?

can you tell me if it is possible that one of the standard TWoS mods can be a reason why the subs do not have any smoke exhaust effects anymore?

I noticed this weekend that my VIIB has no more smoke effect and I wanted to exclude the TWoS addons/mods before I deactivate all other addons/mods to find the reason.

Like both of you, I could have sworn I saw diesel exhaust coming from my sub during the Polish campaign but now I noticed all boats except the VIIC have zero exhaust. I think I've figured it out. I only have a few mods so I was able to remove them all and add them back one by one to test.

The culprit seems to be Dynamic Environment v2.9, including the main mod. Do both of you use it? As soon as I removed "DynEnv v2.9 - 1. Main Mod" in JSGME, voila, diesel exhaust from a VIIA!

Hope this helps! I still plan to use Dynamic Environment but it's a shame that it breaks the diesel exhaust.

There is a dynamic environment mod built into the wolves of steel already. You really don't need to add any other mods to it. And I say that as a mod creator myself. I made the Boogie's refit mods. I use some part of DynEnv v2.9 but noch the Main Mod. I user from DynEnv v2.9 only:



DynEnv v2.9 - 3.a Enhanced Visibility (medium)
DynEnv v2.9 - 6. Sleet for Winter Campaigns
DynEnv v2.9 - 8.b Wave Mechanics - Gale
DynEnv v2.9 - 10.I Seafloor (high resolution)

And in past I do not have any conflict with TWoS or something else.
I also test it with no additional mods and had the same issue.


But I can try it this weekend.

It should be in the right side of the monitor / screen. And you usually have to drag it to the screen.

2 - Use the OFEV app and in the map options activate the Auto TDC according to your taste: three points or fire & forget.

PD: Use manual TDC. Be more agressive.

You can tell that this hasn't been written by some heartless ubisoft guys but from actual enthusiasts. So heartwarming! Second: I am sure this has been asked a dozen times, but nevertheless: I am struggeling with Auto TDC. If I lock on a target it used to stay locked even when I leave the periscope for a moment or have a look at the map. But since I installed the mod it keeps unlocking itself. For example on the map locked targets used to be marked, now the mark disappears after a while. I also noticed, that the "lock target" button disappeared with the mod, does that have someting to do with each other and is there a possibility to get the button back? I did like it :)

About Point 1: Can I change the colors? I have a "red green weeknees" and canīt differentiate between Red and Green. And the "tail" on the contact seems to be missing.

About Point 2: I canīt find the mentioned TAC option in the "map option" section of the OFEV app.

I have another question: Can I disable the "unnecessary" radio messages which are in english? (I play with the german translation of TWOS). Or can I prevent the time compression to stop when they are reported? I donīt understand the different options you have in the game about this topic. The game should pause when I get a vital contact information but not when I get a "filler" radio message.


About TWOS: This mod is awesome! And very overwhelming. Is there a manual like the "Agru Front Lehrmaterialen" manual?

Hopefully some one can point out what is wrong with my setup.

On starting a new campaign I save on entering then close down SH5 and then open SH5 again and reload saved position.

After orders are given and I start the patrol I open up the 'Harbour Pilot' and pick the right starting port which is activated in green BUT as soon as my sub moves off the Harbour Pilot leaves my sub !!!!!!

No matter which campaign I choose the result is the same.

Am I going to have to uninstall SH5 and TWOs and start again???

It works fine with the SH Keymapper. Just Copy the exe file in the mainfolder of you SH5 installation and start - maybe with admin rights - it. And load the keysettings you can see in the screenshot.

you will want to arrive at kiel on the 4th or after on the compass inverted for me too i just flipped it around in my mind i got the draggable get too it easy right in the middle of the map

There is an option for this in the Options File Editor. I used it but my game crashed every time. It may work for you though. Under the crash dive tab.

to teleport to the scope bring up the officers on bottom of screen click on the arrow that says teleport then click scope

What do you think about to edit the award page in such a way that only the 1st date of the award can be seen and an award certificate is placed underneath as a picture? But I an not sure if it is possible to find for all six awards/medals a certificate.

So we have there only one date and not every month a new one.

It is a good idea but the award system of SH5 is highly buggy and, really, you can see realistic awards through KSD. I made five good patrols with 239700 tons and only I have an Iron Cross in SH5 TWoS, in KSD I have four more realistic awards for the tonnage. Old bug of vanilla SH5, it seems a hard coded issue.

Hello.

I have some questions about "send contact report". I read multiple times that it could summon friendly submarines and or aircraft, but have never found any proof of it (image or video). Is it even worth doing? What are the chances that the convoy itself will detect the transmission and will send DCs to rek you and change convoy heading? How long does it take for friendly subs and aircraft to get to you? How usefull are they? BDU reply also says to stay undetected so it means that you have to waste more time while convoy is about to hit british coast in couple of days?

With which ships did you notice missing bubbles? ShipBubbles zone that generates this effects works fine in SH5 and many ships do use it. I haven't checked all, but adding relevant zones to a ship is literally 5 minute job.

I donīt know if this could solve the problem, but the latest version of TWoS is 2.2.24. Try with it. I canīt see this problem because I play without cameras.

Just looked at it and Cimmaron doesn't use bubbles. This is a stock game ship so I suppose other stock game ships might not have them too, as opposed to imported SH3/4 ships where I often saw bubbles zone used.

I see errors in the Excel file included in WoS for calculating the correction of altitude due to refraction.


1) The correction for refraction is to be applied on the apparent altitude (measured altitude minus the dip). It is not the case in the file


2) Parenthesis in the formula for defining the refraction correction is not correctly placed


1/TAN((B31+7,31/(B31+4,4)*PI()/180)) should be
1/TAN((B31+7,31/(B31+4,4))*PI()/180)


3) Apparent altitude in the formula is to be defined in Degree (°) (B31 here above in Degree). It is not the case in the file



It means that the correction due to refraction is totally wrong. Hopefully the influence of refraction on the final result (transfer on the azimuth line) is quite small

Of course my previous post is only valid if refraction is simulated, what I don't really know.

Influence of refraction starts to be significant with low altitudes (deviation of 2.5 arcmin at 20°, deviation of 10 arcmin at 5°) and it is not usual to measure altitude close to the horizon.

indeed ... and don't forget that the subsim download site gets blocked by most browsers anymore, and there is a message at the top of the download page concerning that. Either use a different browser, or put subsim.com on a "white-list" to allow it to pass through.

also what your internet speed if it slow you will get a time out even if you use a download manger you can't resume the download

You have some good advice, I would try a different browser and then add subsim.com on your "white-list" to allow the download to pass through your browser. Also I would make sure that your anti-virus program is disabled for the time of the download. Good luck.

Do you get an error message in browser or is the download just canceled after time X?

but I have already had these loading problems several times .. I am at Downloads: 392 whereas I should have some in the 260 ~ because for 1 downloaded file it opened 8 to 10 download these problems started in September of last year !! or sometimes he does not want to download squarely .. I am still under Windo .. 7 this can come from adblock it must be configured for "Subsim" to check its defender & firewall more .. because I noticed a lot of updates day in this period ... at the moment it works rather well but I do more updates than those that I deem necessary. here is Jim ... if you downloaded it once and your getting game startup fail you dont need to keep downloading the mod did you change the sh5 exe if your using uplay or uconnect

I am having issues trying to edit SH5 submarine .sim files with goblin editor since I have installed TWOS MOD (Steam Version). The specific issue I get is the "You don't have the actor DLLs for the following controller types: interiorEffectsManager ShipDamageState SpecialAbilitiesCtrl WaterReflection cmdr_aIHumanSub obj_Turret unit_Submarine wpn_SubTorpedoSys Please get the appropriate actor DLLs." TwoS doesnīt have the vanilla GUI/interface. You have several options for the GUI in TWoS using OFEV. No other GUI/interface mods are compatible.

Also you have some movie mods for the introduction and backround menu.

You can cut the New UI TDC from TWoS and then you will get a standard interface. In principle, I can do this for you. But it will take a little time and you will need to reinstall your game and install a new version of TWoS (standard interface).

Does anyone know where the position of disabled TAI can be set?

Disabling minimap moves it out of screen space, but this was designed with 1080p in mind. On 1440p the result is as in the picture below.

The last official version of TWoS is 2.2.24, like you can find here as download and in the signature from Vecko. Vecko also doesn't inform of a newer version.

I checked it again and it is 2.2.6 on my Harddrive must have read a 2 more.
When 2.2.24 is latest then all is fine, I install that. 2.2.29 I have found via Google, or I also readed a 2 more.

No, 2.2.24 update will install just fine on top of 2.2.17, just make sure you are in port as installing update mid-patrol might cause problems.

Hmm, this mod consists of just two text files. It should be simple enough to open these and their TWOS equivalents in notepad and compare differences.

same request,just make everything resizable like some custom chart would be fine. I used tdc mod in UBOAT game that's resizable also, and it has mouse wheel input in precise number which is pretty sweet, setting AOB is not a pain in the ass.:salute:

Hi everyone, thanks for this megamod, it is very beautiful, respect for mod developers. Since the release, I've been playing this mode occasionally and I'm still waiting for two adjustments that frustrate me. The first big thing is no shaking of the sub-interior during deep charging and the second thing is a small depth gauge for great depths in the submarine control room. If it was at least the same as in a room with a hydrophone or bigger, it would be great.
These are small things on a huge and great supermod, but I would be interested in the opinion of others. Thank you and good hunt :Kaleun_Salute:

Hello, I'm on a patrol in February 1940, but all the BdU orders sent with Enigma encryption are coded with 1939 cyphers and the code books don't cover the past year. What can I do? Is this a known issue?

Edit: Found the solution. Scroll with the mouse wheel on the year tag at the side of the Enigma machine to change the year of your code books.

However...I think that I have found one bug that is really annoying.
I am not a noob in TWoS installation, I was playing TWoS a lot before.
But there could be always a chance that I have missed something.

I will try to explain the situation where this bug/glitch has appeared, so maybe someone can recreate the scenario or explain to me why this is happening.

On the first mission with Polish destroyers, I was in a night situation where I have spotted Polish destroyers and they were alerted by the
German aircraft, so they have turned on their search lights, pointing them into the sky. From my distant perspective I was at surface but looking
trough periscope at the distant lights from destroyers in the night. Then this glitch/bug started to appear, the light from destroyers were causing
too much light on the ocean in the direction where I was looking the destroyers, the whole ocean would appear to be flickery and white with lights, it's really annoying. But when I would turn the periscope away in the other direction, that light flickering glitch would disappear. I have tried with other environment mods, it's always the same thing. So do you guys know about this glitch bug with flickering lights in the night? And if so can someone tell me how to fix this, I am playing in 1920x1080 resolution.

was it doing it before you try other environment mods or did you just install the other other environment mods and started playing

Can someone point me to some good tutorials with sextant in SH5, I did watch them on youtube, some of them are good, but they don't explain everything.
I did also read the documentation, what I don't understand is how do I find location of my sub on map with those coordinates from sextant?

In addition, I recommend that you read the literature on basic concepts of astronomy in your own language, because in my videos I focused on what distinguishes Silent Hunter 5 astronomy from the real world. I don't think you will be able to find other astronomical navigation guides in Silent Hunter 5.

I accidentally saw your post and looked at the previous ones about refraction. My table in the range of altitudes of 40-20 degrees gives an underestimation of refraction by 0.1 arc minute (for an altitude of more than 40 degrees, there is no error in the refraction value). In the range of 20 - 10 degrees, the error is comparable to the uncertainty in measuring the altitude, but still noticeable - 0.2 - 0.5 arc minutes. Serious discrepancies are observed for an altitude of 7 degrees and below, but in practice it is not desirable to carry out such measurements, even with careful consideration of air temperature and atmospheric pressure. Nevertheless, I took your notes into account, as a result of which now my table has become a little more cumbersome in formulas, but it has become more accurate. I am not updating TWoS, but you can always download the current version of the table "SH5 celestial navigation Sun, Moon, 58 stars" from the link in my signature.

Yes, this can happen sometimes during sunrise or sunset, when ships activate their search lights. Possible that few tweaks in sea reflection parameters could solve this but i't not entirely sure how...

Ok, I've seen a few posts with "Voice Command" activated. I've watched a few video's where it appears to be activated. I know this wasn't a feature of the origiinal base game. So my question is, where do I find it and how do I activate it?

I see that you understand how laborious work it is, and all the more I am pleased that you appreciated it. To use my moon spreadsheet, remember to also use the moon special almanac that I have compiled. The astronomical center of the moon does not coincide with the graphic center of the moon in SH5, and I took this discrepancy into account when compiling the almanac. It is not included in 2.2.24 TWoS, but you can find it from the link in my signature.

the point was not with VIIa, but with the ships I mentioned.
I don't know why there was such a setup in TWOS.

It's ok. Campaign files use unit type to determine which ships can be used in which groups (convoys). In stock game, this didn't matter much, but in TWoS sea traffic is set to be as realistic as possible and this means many more group types and more complicated rules as to what ships they can use. Since there's no possibility of creating new unit types, vdr1981 had to creatively use existing unit types for new purposes.

In TWoS, Type 108 is used for all small to medium cargo ships and tankers, that are used in small, less escorted or coastal convoys and traffic. Thanks to it, you won't see 10000 ton tanker or troop transport sailing in small unescorted group. This has nothing to do with ship recognition, only with telling program which convoys is this ship allowed to spawn in.

TL,DR: this is intentional, look for recognition manual category for recognition purposes and leave unit types as they are if you don't want to screw group composition in convoys.

Hello, I have a question regarding editing my captain's rank in-game.

So, KSD Commander says that my captain has the rank of Kapitanleutnant, but the crew menu in-game says I'm an Oberleutnant. I'm curious as to how I could edit the game files to reflect my true rank.

I don't think we've ever released it as a standalone mod since stock game campaign and OHII don't have necessary campaign entries for new coastal defenses. :hmmm:.

Yes, i did that intentionally. I didn't want some small tankers to appear in large trans Atlantic convoys regularly. I wanted to keep them in coastal and other shorter routs. In game, player won't notice any abnormality regarding 108 type assigned for some tankers...:yep:

By nothing I mean absolutely nothing. I install the mods in the silent hunter dircectory (where the .exe file is located) and turn on the game but its vanilla. I also try to do different things like save-load on sea and in the bunker, turn mods on and of and nothing happens :P

Ok, What JSGME modding app does, is that it literally copy mods files into game directory, so its impossible to have game vanilla after mods installation.

So i would recommend to watch some JSGME usage tutorial, uninstall TWOS and also Silent Hunter 5, delete even game directory and then install everything back step by step by manual.

Note that you dont have to install JSGME in TWOS as its already installed after TWOS installation finishes.
You also dont have to unpack mods there etc. you just have to start JSGME as Administrator and activate mods which are already there for you from TWOS installation.
ALWAYS run JSGME as administrator

First mission where i met some steel after years off :salute:
First time i returned to Wilhelmshaven too early and i didn't know i was still not rebased from Kiel, so i just refitted guessing its because of unfinished patrols returned to English east coast..

I was even starting new mission and i have no tonnage in KSD at all (2 missions done, which seems to be accurate)
Date in KSD is accurate to my current date in new mission after this one successful here, however tonnage was not respected.

New comers may spend hours reading threads just to learn which mods to install. Even though there are threads where everyone list the mods they're currently using the list is often forty or more mods. This becomes confusing and tiresome. Where I once listed a set of recommend must have mods to start out with I now recommend you try The Wolves of Steel - SH5 Megamod . There is also Magnum Opus v0.0.1 (BETA version for testing/feedback purposes). If you still rather custom mod it yourself then start by reading SH5 Mod Guide for Beginners.

When you install from the dvd if you want to use English type with German Language Speech select custom install.

NEWS FLASH
If you like to use your DVD to install SH5 on a new or different computer then your original install you may do so. Here's how;

The key is that the UbisoftGameLauncher that installs with the game is not enough. You must go online to your Uplay account and download the UbisoftGameLauncher App and install it all over again. It will give direct access to the log onto UPlay through a dialog box.

Once you have the dialog box you can click the gear box to change settings. Go to Network settings and check the box to 'Always start Uplay in offline mode'.

You may have to sign in and go online once and change to offline but I don't believe so.

Also if anyone is running Windows 10 or 8 you must change the SH5.exe properties | Compatibility and check 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' ...as well as.... 'Run as administrator'

BEFORE YOU MOD
Check your game version is up to date. If not run the Updater found in your drive; \Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\Support\GameUpdater\gu.exe

If your game stutters try antilag for a stable frame rate and smoother graphics.

Next play the first campaign mission and complete it. It is a get to know the boat and crew tutorial and the full interface doesn't become available until you're done with this mission.

You could add mods at this point but you may want to do a mission with the full default interface and find out what's going to annoy you the most.

Set Game Options for the realism you want before going any further and starting your first real campaign mission. Whether continuing after the tutorial completion or starting a new campaign under a new name the game will present a mission diagram of the war years. Only the next mission will be available unless you apply the hack. There is no input screen here, just type silentotto to hack into all the missions throughout the years. Trust me just try it. Then choose your mission.

You will be in the sub bunker to begin the next mission but since you applied the hack you have no renown. Press ESC to go back to the main menu screen. Now go to the save\load screen and click on the top save which was autosave for you when you enter the hacked mission. This enters you back in with renown. Go see the supply officer first then see the flotilla commander.

Open Horizons is included in TWoS and if you overwrote it with OH vanilla, you lost all the tweaks and addins Vecko added to OH in his own TWoS campaign (An overhauled OH). Also, you could have a CTD...

Not recommended.

so I already know how it is with the French fleet in Toulon. The fleet is moored in Toulon, but not until November 7. The fleet self-submerged on November 27. Would it be possible to place a fleet in Toulon for both Mediterranean campaigns?
Is it impossible for Toulon to guard French destroyers instead of Italians?

There are differences between the Win7, Win8, Win10 & Win11 dialogs. Similar, but not quite the same. On your left-hand "Properties" page is the "Change high DPI Settings" button, which will then open that little window to the right with the "High DPI scaling override" section at the bottom. You click on the tick-box for "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and choose with the drop-down box under "Scaling performed by:" and select "Application" there. "OK" and "OK" your way out, and it should be set. However, on my computers, I also have to tick the "Disable full-screen optimizations" on the main "Properties", "Compatibility" section, and one of my computers has the top of the 2nd page to the right set also, under the "Program DPI" section, with the "Use this setting for scaling problems..." which then activates the dropdown for the "Use the DPI that's set...", which I have at "I open this program". That is a laptop with onboard video, and Win10 wants to "smooth" everything, so that tells it not to interfere with SH4 on my machine. Settings for SH5 most likely will not be quite the same, and your computer is probably also different. Experimentation is key. :salute:

I haven't seen any other problem like this...

But what i mean is 11 points deeper on your picture ;) not just the solution lines.
But the numbers (1,2 ,3 ) are only show'n in easy mode when disabled "manual targeting

Hey people,


My weather keeps getting stuck. Sea state wouldnt bother me as much as wind coming always from the same direction at the same speed for 5 days straight.

I deleted the game, reinstalled the game and the mod ( I did keep my campaign save), and now more of the same. Is this normal? I remember weather constantly changing and liking that.. Not necessarily sea state, but from no fog to light fog and so on... Is there a fix? Is it a bug? Can I change values for maximum time set for weather conditions like in sh3 if its not?


Also when under water, my telegraph (I use sh3 controls) always goes one down what I tell it. Ie: If I say 2/3 it will be 1/3, etc.. ( ok apparently its normal, however weather bug is still there in a new campaign I tried)

Today I finished the chapter The Black Pit and start the new chapter Turning Point. Everywhere i read that the stock boat in chapter Turning Point is VIIC/41 but I already have VIIC at 1st mission choice between TW Spring 43 and a traings drill mission at Kiel in 1943/03/1.


Will I get the VIIC/41 later at this chapter or will be the VIIC/41 only in last chapter The Final Years availible?
For a short test I start a new campaign and use "silentotto" to start at Turning Point but I have at 1943/03/1 just a VIIC too.

Good afternoon everyone. After a long time without trying I have decided to play TWOS again. I think it is the game to which I have dedicated the most time without obtaining results.
The problems I have detected are the following:
1. The attack periscope often has trouble detecting the enemy, so I cannot calculate the torpedo solution.
2. My avatar's binoculars sometimes don't work. the mouse wheel doesn't make it work.
3. the enigma machine has never worked for me. in September 1939 it calculates me for Potsdam so the result of the encryption is unintelligible.

I would also like someone to remind me to change the attack periscope view to one that looks better in the field of view.

It's a pity I have many errors that make it difficult to play. ( i play with ubisoft version)

First, I love the mod. I put own SH 3,4, and 5. Uboat, Silent Hunter, and various flight sims. I play each for a while and put them down. Then a year or two later, I pick one back up again. This is the mega mod I always come back to for SH5.


I do have a question though, I've looked, and tweaked settings, but I can't seem to get 100% realism, and can't find in any of the documentation explaining to me why this is. Can anyone please help me understand? Thank you.

data\Menu\Gui\keyboard_binds.dds

Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. I knew about the F1 and how to change them, but I wanted to start from the base settings that Wolves of Steel had and relearn those, then work on setting up and modifying my own.

Hello Captains, I've returned to SH5+WoS after many years. I love you all. :)

I found that I couldn't get map contacts to work(I'm a lightweight and need lots of help hitting anything with a torpedo). Overall, I was really having a hard time getting my Game Options to take effect.

I struggled for many hours and then saw a hint: Change Game Options while you're in the Bunker and they will take effect and remain. It worked for me!

I hope this helps anyone having the same issues. And a big thank you to this community. All the love for this game has returned for me now. It is really a fantastic experience. Happy Hunting, Captains!
