In my humble opinion, I prefer the traditional way to activate mods with JSGME ie zip files or rar files, so I can always control what they include and without automatism with JSGME. After all until now the traditional way it has always worked.
Can you release the update 1.06.07 in the traditional way?
The Wolves of Steel 1.6 Update 06 is approximately 73.00 MB, because the Update 07 is bigger: about 190.00 MB, perhaps for German Voices sound pack?

I see your point, but you would be quite surprised if I tell you how much people doesn't even know what rar/zip archive is, let alone to extract it at specific location.
I see this constantly in various YT videos, KSDCommander logs, not to mention my PM inbox...:doh:

Self extracting installer which would automatize installation process as much as possible is something that have in mind for a long time.
The update 1.06.07 is just a test for hopefully more serious installer which will make things a ton easier for me and for majority of other players.

Can you release the update 1.06.07 in the traditional way?
It's just WinRar SFX archive and you can open it with it...

Once again, huge thanks for all your work vdr, it's absolutely incredible.

I'd have to say I agree with Torpedo here. The old way works perfectly, plus exe files always carry a certain amount of suspicion or risk with them. Not everyone knows how to examine the inners of an executable file, whereas a zip/tar etc file contains no mysteries.
Knowing that you're first being redirected to an external site to download, then downloading an exe file just seems as though it might put people off.

End of the day it's your choice entirely, and regardless of which way you go, we all still wubs ya matey

Same here...:yep: That's normal because windows will recognize the installer as "unknown publisher', which is me...:)

Yesterday i decided to install SH5 again and check what changed in past few months. Right after game install i downloaded and installed TWOS, step by step as in install instructions. Then i launched my game, pressed new campaign, then i was in bunker and when i want to choose my mission i got this on map:

When commander stop giving briefing i cant choose any mission, cause i dont see objectives on map. Seems that this is issue only when i open map.
Im using SH5 version 1.2 downloaded by uplay downloader.
And this is the list of my activated mods:

I have installed all things needed, directx+redists, no changes. Then i reinstalled whole game again and this also didnt helped. Im about to give up cause fighting with mods is what i hate. I really dont have idea what is going wrong, but since TWOS is compiled to .exe i cant modify one mod that can be screwed.
Im using 1680x1050 resolution monitor right now.
Maybe some more experienced captain can help me with this issue?
Any help highly appreciated. Cause i really want to sink some ships :arrgh!:

Try enabling the 8:5 ratio as TWoS uses a standard 16:9.

If you use 8:5 resolution (1680x1050) then you should use appropriate resolution patch also...(other than that, JSGME looks OK)

OS?
Running the game with administration rights?
How about to check some compatibility options when launching the game?
EDIT:
Generic patcher thingy, no encountered problems there?

So i just enabled 8x5 resolution patch in JSGME, launched game and still same issue.
And about my system i use windows 7 x64, all programs are running always in administration rights. I have no issues while enabling generic patcher (no errors) all just installed fine. Game is running in win 7 compatibilty (i tried other like vista, xp but this option dont make any changes)
The strange thing is even when i click toggle nav map bearing overlay visibility button it does nothing. i cant click skip button on mission briefing. Its like map overlay is glued forever :hmmm:

After test without compatibility, no changes :hmmm:
So it seems that i cant use TWOS but i really want to. All should work without issues. But anyway thanks for your help and for your great work on this mod :up: and i hope i can play SH5 in future with TWOS enabled. For now i think i pass cause all posibilites has been run out for me.

There is one more possibility but you'll have to reinstall the game completely once again...

This time, dont do step 4 (to delete main.cfg file), instead just open it with notepad, find line ";Modding=Yes" and remove ";" mark, like this...

Ok im after fresh install with your suggested step and that didnt help sadly.
But from what i see its strick bug with IO strategic map, cause rest working ok.
I took second screenshot after fresh install:

As you can see there is definitely bug with this map, cause one border should cover whole map and its not, its a bit smaller as you see on screen. And this plastic should cover whole map also but it cover just small rectangle in this map.
This is screen just right after briefing where i should pick up my mission on map, as you see i dont have any objectives to choose :03:
Both plastic and border cant be moved or anything.

I see , but I can not label the issue as a "bug" because the problem definitely is not in the mod it self...It works just fine for me and for bunch of other people. :hmmm:

Don't know what to suggest you anymore, sorry. Keep an eye on this thread , maybe someone with similar problem (and solution) will pop-up eventually. :yep:

From what i saw on YT after selecting "what are my mission order?" exactly same map as mine just shows for 1 sec then disappear and normal map appear, and in my case this map just stay.

And notice this 1 sec map change after he clicked select mission. This is where i get screwed.

But once more thanks for help. :up: SH5 gonna be uninstalled and gonna grab more dust and its too bad. Going back to SH3. Old game that works without issues.

You installed the game in Program Files?

I think I saw that problem on another occasion but I do not remember how it happened.

Is your game properly upgraded to the official version 1.2 before applying the mods?

My game is on "c:\silent hunter 5" it is upgraded to 1.2 cause its first step before modding. After deactivating mods everything works without issues, so yeah its mod pack error that can be possible on some pc configs if other people dont report any problems. And since this mod pack is exe i cant config mods individualy, that means whole mod pack disable and install mods one by one :O: and i dont have time for this.
Im gonna check here from time to time to see if anything new appear that i can try like new update or something.

Right after i disabled this campaign advance verifer testing everything works like a charm :D I have no idea why i didn't disabled this earlier for tests......
Well, so its kinda my fault that i enabled this. But i hope this error can give you some advice on future updates.

Think I know what's going on. To do with date parsing and suspect it's a system specific thing that we haven't seen before .

I have changed the script , will upload later for testing, but will need Maroy33 to try it since nobody else has the problem.

Just wanted to say thank you to all contributors of TWOS and SH5 modders, that have re-made this game. What a wonderful collection of mods and a real joy to play..
After being away for a few years, went on my first patrol with TWOS and it was full of surprises and memorable moments. :salute:

I just enabled this campaign advance verifier mod exactly as described and got no issues this time with map or anything. So it seems script is fixed for good :03:

I just enabled this campaign advance verifier mod exactly as described and got no issues this time with map or anything. So it seems script is fixed for good :03:

Alright there's a new version here that will hopefully fix this issue (Maroy33 please try it per manual instructions below or wait until vdr1981 can include it in an incremental TWOS update)

To manually try it, first deactivate the Campaign Advance Verifier mod if you have it activated via JSGME.

Then extract the zip to your silent hunter 5/mods folder, overwriting any previous version.

Then activate it.

Terribly embarrassing question. I am a huge fan of the SH series yet I have never played on full realism. For my first playthrough of this mod I really just want to play without Real Navigation and manual TDC. The problem is that I have already started a campaign. Having now gone and disabled Real Navigation in JSGME, must I start a new campaign or will the changes take effect with no problem in my current one?

I love all of the submods that this megamod includes but some say that the markings are removed for map contacts to add realism. Can I enable these noob markings in game? I know you all are probably rolling your eyes at me but I do plan on going full realism in my next playthrough for the latest version of WoS (I am currently playing 1.5).

No problems there, real nav can be enabled/disabled anytime...

You should really reinstall the game and update your mudpack to latest v1.06.08. There was a ton of critically important changes in the meantime...

Finally i found my sh5 documents folder, i must install the game and last update, once i do it sucesfullly and have the Oscar captain career, must i copy my saved games and thats all or i must restore other folders too, like my own career?

You only need to backup your "C:\Users\[Your username]\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames" folder...

I will test the transfer campaign thing. Did you conserve the radio message about the transfers? My last tests with the previous update the radio message appeared, but the transfers were OK.

Hi All, :salute:

I just came back after a break and I left my campaign in the Mediterranean with TWoS v 1.05.

I changed my HD to a SSD so everything is fresh and updated to TWoS 1.6. I am using the same mods as before where evrything worked fine, but now that I went on patrol, I am in the perfect position to hit a large convoy, everything goes fine till I get pinned or the flashlight searches for my periscope. At that first ping from the destroyer I get a CTD.

Any ideas why would this be happening?

Works perfectly for me....but all did :up:

That was my very first guess but...is that determinant? I wouldn't like at all to start a campaing from the beginning, although I know I can skip and fastrack to any campaign I want to, but, I just like my sub and crew very much :oops:

When does the first ENIGMA message appear?
The reason I ask is that I just did a complete re-install with the latest and I'm in Danzig on September 1st, and haven't received a message yet.
Maybe I just didn't wait long enough, but I could have sworn in earlier versions I was getting messages about Danzig early on.

I don't know if I did something wrong with the install, because of course I can't leave well enough alone and always have to tweak the options thingy lol..

If someone says "oh the first message is on September 2" then I'm probably ok and just not patient enough :)

What do you mean by "They see me"?
Do you mean you catch a message "periscope sighted"? Or Do you mean all escorts starts to approach you and attacking you?

If you mean the message, its just fake. Ignore it, or even switch "periscope sighted" messages off.

Any ship including escorts shouldn't spot your periscope at less than +-2km away.
I was even shadowing convoy at dusk from about 3km at deck wash depth and noone found out i am there...

Only "patrol complete" or "reposition" messages are encoded by enigma.
So its very low % of all the messages...

No...I think I know what your problem is. :yep:

Your game is "buried" under too many sub folders (C/Program files/Ubisoft/Ubisoft game lanuncher/bla/bla/bla ect...) and windows can not handle this...
You can't even manually copy files to desired location because your game path is too long...

You have to reinstall your game to more "direct" location (Like C/Ubisoft/Silent hunter 5 for example), dont forget to backup your savegames though...

Icebergs are part of SH5 since long time ago (OHII mod)...:yep: Together with whales, dolphins and couple of more TWoS exclusive environmental Easter eggs which I don't want to reveal...:yep:

A couple of problems with new install, but solved easyly
SH5 golden edition uplay download an saved in the default ubisoft game launcher only english installation, after install the mods thru JSGME( general, update and wind& smoke)
To activate TDW properly i must change "GenericPatcher.cfg" to
ClientAreaWidth=1184
ClientAreaHeight=765

A couple of problems with new install, but solved easyly
SH5 golden edition uplay download an saved in the default ubisoft game launcher only english installation, after install the mods thru JSGME( general, update and wind& smoke)
To activate TDW properly i must change "GenericPatcher.cfg" to

You can use TDW GUI Das Boot faces mod. And you will have Jurgen Prochnow as the Old Man. If you are a narcissistic Kaleun do your own selfie and put it in TWoS.

Then, with your selfie you make a mod for JSGME with this folder structure:

The Most Handsome Kaleun in the Kriegsmarine Mod/Data/Menu/Skins/German/Gui/Crew. And put in the last, crew folder your selfie.

After you enable the Snapshot, all necessary patches will be enabled (almost 95% of all available). What is left is just a few advanced test patches for advanced users. Feel free to explore them but be careful...:yep:

ahhhhh, thank you thank you! now i can get on with my campaign. motherboard decided to kill over on me and had to start over. so i was digging through some files after TDW patch and noticed this and thought i didnt have it right when my computer was working. thanks again for the quick response.

The latest version of OldCoder's campaign advance verifier has been uploaded to optional mods/addons section so you can use it occasionally if you like (for example when nearing campaign chapter ending date ect).

However, more important will be instructional Camping Transfer Orders flotilla objectives and these messages which will inform the player what to do in order to successfully initiate campaign transfer.
For those who can not initiate transfer no mater what, there will always be my "Alternative campaign progression method" PDF but since recent testing has shown us that usually only one save/reload is needed to secure the transfer, I do not expect any significant problems ...

Once I got a contact report message, specifying a large convoy within reasonable distance.:ping: I traced my intercept course, adjusted speed and travel for 12h I guess and at intercept coordinates my sonarman said "wtf".

Are dolphins large convoys without a ship skin?:hmmm:

Hi All, :salute:

I just came back after a break and I left my campaign in the Mediterranean with TWoS v 1.05.

I changed my HD to a SSD so everything is fresh and updated to TWoS 1.6. I am using the same mods as before where evrything worked fine, but now that I went on patrol, I am in the perfect position to hit a large convoy, everything goes fine till I get pinned or the flashlight searches for my periscope. At that first ping from the destroyer I get a CTD.

Any ideas why would this be happening?

Hi all. After installing DynEnv v2.9 many years ago, and recently also TWOS, I noticed the moon phases were reversed, with the lit side of the moon facing away from the sun. EG: lit side of waxing sun was eastern limb and after full moon the waning moon was lit on the west limb. (Northern Hemisphere)

I have modified the moon.dds from DynEnv v2.9 - 01. Main Mod to correct the mistake, matching the phases in the original graphic. Credit for the new graphic goes to the maker(s) of DynEnv v2.9 mod and creator of the moon.dds graphic therein. Original SH5 moon file is included as MoonOriginal.dds

Feel free to incorporate this fix in future TWOS updates! Awesome community and great mod. TY all for the hard work.

I can not find TWoS 1.06_Snapshot.gps file anywhere in SH5 install folder. -Re-Installed and searched twice.

Please explain which TDW Generic Patcher options needed to be enabled and which options must left disabled.

Or if possible please share TWoS 1.06_Snapshot.gps file for me(us).

I disabled most "Torpedo options" from TDW Patcher (left crew abilities and detonator options unchanged) , enabled "Minimum 0 Wind Speed" option and disebled "Disable Automatic Battery Recharge" and "Increase CO2 generation rate" options.

Can't remember which options I changed in TDW User Options but disabled and enabled all mods after that.

Sorry I missed this, as my original testing was on waning moon from Full to New [2 weeks long of campaign time], but new campaign testing shows the waxing moon is inverted and mirrored when viewed in-game.. silly me thought they'd use the images consistently. :oops:
Should now be fixed if the rest of waxing phases follow the pattern inverted and mirrored.

You have to put SH3 out of your mind as SH5 does not work in the same way.
When SH5 is installed it comes with version v1.0.5 installed.
The support folder will lead you to a GamesUpdater folder where you can run the patch application to update to v 1.2
This is update is compulsory.
Unlike SH3 and SH4, SH5 is controlled by Uplay.

So far I'm aware of two reasons:

- Enabled "Disable Uplay Browser" advanced patches...
- "Internet" version of the game which is freed from all Uplay crap...

The game is ~17 (~7) years old I don't want to use my "non-internet" version of the game. I don't have an option to buy another non-steam/retail copy of the game and want to keep my DVD many more years.

It could be that. If the OSI exe does not start up when running the game, by definition then there's nothing to respond to the gamepipe requests, and campaign advance check may fail.

I am on first mission of Drumbeat. Can somebody tell me how to succesfuly resupply? I receiving coordinates with "x" on map, but when i come there, there is no resupply ship or u boat...I tried many times with resupply and everytime other position? Sorry for my bad english. Thank you...

Having similar problem. Also on Drumbeat mission #1. When I reach U-boat refueling point, there is no milch cow. The mission change exclamation mark appears and the Captain's Log says rendezvous and refueling complete, but no gas in the tanks. Resupply skimmer becomes available, but resupply will only fill fuel tanks since I still have a full load of torpedoes. And that's wasted the only resupply available for the mission.

Does the campaign transfer work flawlessly with "internet versions" of the game? Did Ubisoft really screw it up with Uplay that much?

All versions appear to suffer similarly, unfortunately, in that the campaign dependencies will either initialise in a working state or failed state, seemingly at random on the first "long" load. After giving up trying to find a fix, I wrote the Campaign Advance Verifier to detect the situation (which it does), and to provide a chance for the player to return to menu and reload (which usually results in the campaign initialising correctly).

The problem stems from a gamepipe that's setup between SH5 exe and OSI exe. OSI acts as the pipe server, and SH5 connects to it as a client. SH5 sends requests to OSI via the pipe, and OSI responds.

What happens when SH5 campaign loads is that a whole bunch of requests are sent to OSI. What is not known at this time (though could be found by using system API monitoring tools) is whether SH5 sometimes fails to send the right information, or whether it DOES send the right info but OSI fails to respond. Either way, it leaves SH5 campaign transfer in a broken state. When the campaign initialises correctly however, campaign transfer seems to work fine.

Campaign advance verifier mod is the closest there is presently since it ensures the transfer will work for the current campaign play session. I don't know if anybody will manage to resolve the underlying problem but at least with this mod you know up front if it's working.

I resolved the issue using the OFEV folder of the pre-TWoS autoinstaller (present in Data\Applications). I use the cfg file from this version, launch OFEV and now all works fine. But I think update 10 changes something and OFEV is unusable.

Ever I used OFEV with the pre-autoinstaller, I opened the cfg, change the unit ("C:" with "E:", my unit), start OFEV and "open"; then I have all the options to change. With the update 10, the cfg don´t exist; I need to start OFEV first; then the program creates the cfg, but I have to enter manually all the paths.

No problem for me; I copy/paste the folder of a manually installed TWoS to the data\applications folder, and all works fine. But the autoinstaller in my installation creates a OFEV folder without a cfg file. The old manually installed TWoS 1.6 had a cfg file for OFEV.

When i tried it, i came out to tower at about 10:00AM and i was for the first time dazzled by sun in SH game :Kaleun_Applaud:
Night at tower seems to me also much more realistic.

You cannot move your game it has to be uninstalled and re-installed again
Uplay links to your game installation.
If you mave your game the link is broken, so you would need to edit the Uplay path to the new installation path.

Think I should try to reinstall and use the C:programfile/x86/ubisoft/ Not by choice as this directory has restrictions.
Better to install in something like C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5
As long as you have installed SH5 in the correct folder then you have made an error extracting TWOS to the wrong place.

Big problem here, i did everything like the first post say, clean install of sh5, patched to 1.2.0, installed wos 1.06 and 1.06.10, activated the mod correctly and did the thing with the Generic patcher.

If i start a campaign, and try to save the Game when i first see the Bunker, it just freezes in "Please Wait" (While saving). Thats it, have to Alt F4 out :confused:

Tired to start the game and at first Norton Anti Virus says I have a file that is corrupt and restarted the pc. Now the Uplay can't find the game folder Silent Hunter 5 and when it does Uplay says that I have corrupt or missing files and is verifying and fixing the files.

This is giving me a headache :-(

Sometimes Anti-Virus can be a real pain, probably does not like the .exe application?
Uninstall your Game Launcher from the Control Panel's Program and Features.
Run a free registry cleaner like Ccleaner, in my tutorials if you need it, re-boot your system and install this genuine game launcher on any drive and you can use any folder.

It is your AV software that is screwing you up...It deletes false positive files. Some AV will recognize your modified SH5.exe (by TDW Generic Patcher) as a crack or something, which is certainly not true.

Check that your GPU settings are correct.

This generally is what you need to look for in your gpu type.

Have you tried a lower Graphic Setting Option in the game.

I got it working.

I uninstalled the game and documents folder. Ran the CCleaner per instructions above. Restarted the PC. Created a folder called C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5, installed the genuine game launcher into C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5 per above.
Re downloaded the game and installed into C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5.

Ran the two mods. Then set SH5.exe and JSGME.exe to run as administrator before running them. Disabled my Norton Anti Virus for 30min then loaded the two mods using JSGME then followed the rest of the instructions.

Started the game and hooray it works.

Twice I've run into Class A destroyers that ID as merchant and fly the red ensign. I figure these are the TFL's that are used for the new fleet AI (Great job, as it is working and noticeable as the BB and fast Troop Ships followed them away at high speed.)
Is the non-escort tag on them needed for scripting, or just left over from testing?

Thanks for the info, I'll always be careful when approaching a 'merchant' from now on.. during Norway it lead me toward the BB Task Force!
(A sad story, 3 hits on the BB but 2 were duds and, as your AI was working, it kept on sailing away as I got swamped with angry escorts! Good Job!)

I just tried to bought Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon just because i love 80's theme and synthwave for about 5e.
You know what? It wanted to register me into uplay just after install..

I am facing this bug:

Same here...I dont have such issues but I can remember someone reported similar problem before. It is system related issue and IIRC it involves DX version, administration rights and windows compatibility options...

SH5 with Windows does not seem to have compatibility problems that I have come across using Windows 7 and 10.

No, it points to a Direct X problem, and yet!
It would also be worth checking GPU drivers for updates and GPU settings if not already done so.
Having said that BL!TZKR!EG states that the stock game runs ok.
But TWOS has a lot of graphics in it.
Iif the stock game loads then you know that Direct x is working from the dvd installation.
Could it be a TWOS download corruption?
It would be useful to see his JSGME mods list.
SH5 with TWOS enabled will be heavy on graphics and we do not know what his system's capabilities are.
Looking at the posts to date BL!TZKR!EG seems to have covered all the angles.

The draggables you are showing are all part of TDW's NewUi 7-5-0 version 18 mod.
It is usually this mod that shows visually that you have a Direct X problems showing in one form or another, such as a number of blank blacks blocks or in other forms of corruption that should not be showing.
TWOS has over 100 mods and patches all installed in the main TWOS mod.

Not in this case.
It is program code that writes these 8 files whenever you start SH5.exe and this program code uses the WRONG PATH.


But, which path was used in your case? Those files should be created directly in your game root folder...:hmmm:

Get the path sorted.

Reason:
Part of that code writes these files to the WRONG PATH DESTINATION.

Background:
That part of the code ignores the path-settings that you are asked to provide in the GenericPatcher.cfg - and THAT is the bug!

Proposed fix:
TDW New UIs should use the path provided in the GenericPatcher.cfg (which it clearly does NOT!).

Do you have any explanation why rest of us didn't have same problem like you did?

Do you have some proposition for me, or files/scripts fix which I should implement in the megamod?

Also, what should I do in order to reproduce the same "charts box" problem?

What did you do get rid of the issue? Those files are created automatically once game is started, by TDW New UIs...

I've just gotten everything installed and ready to roll on my first patrol, but for some reason the harbor pilot scripts won't activate. I've turned on the proper real nav position fix for the time my mission starts but the memel harbor pilot remains red when I hit play. Any ideas?

Question: never use the flags. Is it fixed or can I "up-down" it wiuth some keys (as in SH3)? Really I like it in ports arriving or departing, not in the middle of the ocean.

Harbor pilot scripts work fine as you can see...Maybe you didnt activate them properly? You must click "play" for every activated script...

Most of them are same although you wont brake anything if you download them again...Check "modified" dates on the right side...:yep:

Optional mods/addons are compatible with all 1.06.xx versions and can be enabled/disabled anytime...

When you move the harbor pilot script to the right box, click on it in the box, then click start. I usually have to click start twice to get it to work.

Well, the charts like the meters to knots conversion chart-the maps are fine. Also, I noticed the pictures of the ships in the recognition manual do not change when I flip through the pages.

The user is asked to "activate" the patcher by providing the path to the game root folder as you call it
And put that data into GenericPatcher.cfg.
Agreed that sets up the patcher.
Did you then enable the Snapshot .gps file?
