What does the mod "Original SV Interior QR1, QR2 Rooms" do?
and I assume the friendly deck gun waves allows the deckgun to fire in all seastates?
Great work.....but now the install instructons on page one need a once over.
That mod is the original Silent Vicking interiors without the Silent Michal (fixed by The Beast), added (as TWoS v1.05). Apply the mod, and you lose the Silent Michal Interiors.

Are you sure that the CTD was related to your "periscope depth" command input? I have played /tested a lot and I have never had such issue.:hmmm:
Did you have similar problems before, with v1.05 for example?
In any case,I can't do much about it if I can not reproduce the issue or without precise testing scenario.
If CTDs repeats reinstall your game , delete all SH5 related folders in my documents and start new campaign.
And once again , link with detailed description on how to report an issue is right there in my signature. I need details ...Without it, I can only conclude that the issue is user/inadequate game/mod installation/faulty modlist related (which is most of the time true unfortunately :)).

Without the smoke mod addon, you don´t have identification. And yes, you need to touch some commands with the OFEV application for personalize your TWoS.
Try with Smoke addon and see if you have the identification working. By default, TWoS is the "hard way".
From TWoS install instructions:
"5. The Wolves of Steel 1.05 - Wind & Smoke addon (optional, enabled auto target recogn. button)" (says 1.05 but it is the same with 1.06).
You can change this (and lot of things), with OFEV. Please, see in the SH5 help threads for instructions using the OFEV application. OFEV: Options File Editor Viewer.

Great! Remember: if you want an "easy" TWoS, ALWAYS you must use the Smoke addon. Or change options with OFEV.:Kaleun_Applaud:
Default TWoS is realistic, hard way.

Which step exactly you can not understand? You know how to install the game or what JSGME actually is and what it does?
If you paraphrase in details your game/mod install procedure maybe I would be able to direct you what did you do wrong...
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've read and followed every thread and tutorial but still no avail. Frustrated to say the least
That's a mistake No.1, you should follow only instructions and tips found in this thread and main mod package...

If you have positive rating (2 or more) you should be offered type VIIC somewhere at the beginning of your next campaign chapter (WA or MN). If your rating is negative then dont expect any sub offers...You can check your curent rating in KSD Commander.

Hi there Vecko,
I have had weird error while installing TDW generic pathcer (the 43, or 49 click stage):
after some clicks window pops up saying that some of pathces cant be opened as it is used by another program (SH5 was closed adn I dont use uplay anyway)...
so Iv just ignored it and started it again only to see all 9 patches are up... and so far all is working very nice..
p.s. that error msg popd up every time I did fresh install and never caused me trouble...
Just heads up, next time Im gonna SS it and will show you here.

It is the one for the SH5.exe, number 4 of the 9 if I remember right.
Sorry guys after rereading and using my big dumb noodle I finally got it going. Old silent hunter 3 user gwx 3.0. New to sh5. I paid over 40 bucks for this thing and I couldn't get it to work. It works now thanks for feed back. Turns out I had only moved the wos 1.06 file and not it's contents to my sh5 main folder. Duh moment I guess.

hmm just got 1st CTD
location: east of scapa flow eastern entrance, very close to land, while in UZO view. Weather was terrible: wind 15 m/s, huge waves. got lost and was tryign to find my way into the port..

The most likely reason IMO why those 2 patches do not work is because 7 of the patches you correctly selected the SH5 folder and the other 2 you made mistakes by not selecting the SH5 folder correctly.
All 9 patches must be pointed to the SH5 folder and this means 43 ok's when it is done correctly and you will see all 9 then displayed.
Unless you sort out the generic patcher you are going to experience more ctd's and an unplayable game.

You have to this right mate...There should be no errors or anything similar.
Try to restart your PC before you do executable patching again.
Everything works perfectly! No CTD. After intense fighting in the bay with two cargo ships destroyed, can I confirm that WoS works perfectly!

Im not new to game modding btw... but the thing that worries me is that after 3 reinstalss, I keep getting same error with generic file patcher! kind of "file is used by another program" and I dont know which as I dont use uplay... SH5 is closed during the process ofc... so Ill go for another reinstall right now and check if that happens again!

Is there a reason this is not recommended? Is it a stability issue? I have not tried it yet myself but it looks interesting.

Have you checked the Generic Patcher.cfg before activating the Generic Patcher?
The last nine lines must all be connected to the same folder that is the SH5 installation path (in my case "E:\Games\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter") and so I get my GenericPatcher.cfg in this way:

I tried DynEnv v2.9 - 5.c Ambient Settings - Darker Nights-No Murky Waters. This mod eliminates the murky waters aspect that are usually in the channels, as in the port of Memel or in shallow waters. Water turns blue, and perhaps unrealistic. However, I have used a lot this mod without instability. IMO it is only a matter of realism, but if you want you can try it, IMO I would not recommend this mod, but it is as always a matter of taste.
The Darker Nights effect works well.

This exact problem happened to me during one reinstall. I have a pristine copy of Silent Hunter 5 V1.2 saved on another drive that I just copy over to the the Ubisoft folder instead of installing from the disc. Unfortunately by doing it this way, the savegames in the Ubisoft Game Launcher have to be deleted manually so that they are not loaded into the new install. During a new install when you start the game prior to modding or using the generic patcher, the game will automatically call up the Uplay launcher to start SH5 and if I recall, it was Ubisoft Game Launcher still running that caused the problem. So as Vecko has advised, use Task Manager prior to patching the SH5.exe to make sure that the Ubisoft Game Launcher is not still running in the background.

Just ready to depart Kiel on the first patrol of Mare Nostrum campaign and head for Gibraltar. Can the English Channel be navigated successfully in spite of Allied warships and aircraft, or is the long journey via Northern Scotland the best route to take? I was hoping to depart for the Mediterranean from Lorient but no such luck! :o
I am really looking to disable some hotkeys in the options file editor like "toggle nomograph" and others. Some hotkeys are changeable, some are not. I need to disable some of them but nothing happens when I double click on them to change it from "enabled" to "disabled".

Do not forget to disable the mods first before making changes to the OFEV otherwise your changes will not be accepted.

I also like to use directly OFEV.exe placed in data folder of the main game installation (Silent Hunter 5/data/Applications/OFEV.exe) for quick "in-fly" changes without mods disabling. Of course , in this case the path for Menu.txt and OFEV.py files should be set accordingly...
I didn't mention this possibility in my instructions because most of TWoS players don't know a thing about SH files dependencies and those who know will figure out this for them selves pretty quickly.
Note Kevin that it is not recommend to simple copy/paste options file. You have Options File Migration tool for that...

Simple environmental optional addon which shouldn't cause any problems and it can be enabled anytime. I don't use "No murky water" in TWoS because the water is too much transparent when looked from above and there are some really ugly side effects in shallow waters...Darker nights is already part of TWoS IIRC.

Like yourself and Vecko I also use this method especially handy if you only need to make one change.
There are many who do not have our experience so I prefer to only mention the safe way.
The py file contains a lot of data so not for diving into so as to speak unless you know what you are doing.

My pleasure mate...:up: I'm still experimenting with it. My goal is to obtain limited fire/explosions with more dense smoke effects. That would be perfect IMO...
This may help you to do a bit of testing for your self if you like...

Might be a Direct X issue?
Before reinstalling always run a registry cleaner and then reboot your system before reinstalling.
Seems like Direct X and VCRedist update did the job... :D
Well i pretty much forget that stuff every time i make Windows Clean Instal i kinda feel stupid

Hello. I isntalled the mod twice. It opens fine but as soon as i going to start a historic battle or campaign, the screen starts flickering black and back, without any normal gameplay and after a while most of the times it crashes before i try to quit. I followed all the instructions. I run it as admin but still i see this problem. I did made fresh install on both mod installation. DirectX is checked ok due to a previous problem i had. i currently have win 7 4gb ram sp1 2gb card memory nvdia, and a very good ventilation system. no steam version. I was using the tdw-ui with real nav without any problem. Any suggetions? Thanks in advance.

Remove all sh5 folders before new install, including documents, be sure to active snapshoots in the same path folder of your sh5 game, check the resolution of your screen and be sure that it is compatible with your graphic card, then the first time in the bunker use the same option graphic resolution and of course active the suitable resolution mod

I think I have found functional solution for occasional corrupted game saves due to airplanes overspawn and probably other bugs in players rendering area...:yep:
Namely, one only have to delete "Special.txt" file from the gamesave folder (...Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames\0000000*). The corrupted gamesave will become functional again...
It seems that this file contains data about current situation in players rendering area and if the game is saved in the "wrong moment", the file will become corrupted.
By deleting it, all bugged units will be removed and player will be able to continue campaign...:yep:
Unfortunatly, it didn't worked for me, my 3 last saves are corrupted and deleting 'special.txt' from their folder didn't help.

Check the settings of your GC, I use the in-game settings only, and works fine with all the graphics full. I don´t touch anything in my Nvidia card (via Inspector), except frame limiter to 35 FPS and pre rendered frames to 3.

Thank you and no, I Am only using TWOS, with 'real Navigation' off (Just while I get into it again then I'll go full realism). No external mods except the Antilag Mod and the Deck_Gun_Friendly_Waves. But I added those 2 and the problem already occurred I think.

How did you end up with 3 broken gamesaves in the first place?:doh:
Load last gamesave that it works and continue patrol. Otherwise, restart your patrol using your last bunker save...

Each time I sank a boat I saved because it says to save more often than not.
I wasn't respecting the "40mn minimum from any AI/coast" so my 3 last saves were corrupted.
I hoped that the trick here would work but it seemed not, so I restarted for the 8th time the 1st mission of TWOS :P
Now I am more careful when I save,, it's just a shame I couldn't retrieve those saves when I wanted.

I have in a game a text and voice commands of crew in English. How it is possible to change only the speech of crew to German or Germany voice from movie "Das boot"? I have steam version but i use special exe file for patcher 1.2
its work if i install mood DBSM_Speech_1_0_4 and mod Germany voice crew.

How could I supress the inside smoke when take damage? Great effect but it drops my FPS to 12-13....Normally I have 36 FPS fixed via Inspector (Nvidia) in all situations included great convoy with dense smoke but the inside smoke in the rooms is a FPS killer

Looking nice. Which parameters have you edited regarding water transparency?
Here's one aerial shot from me too...Each ships in the convoy is individual unit type which has been modded in to SH5 by TWoS so far and without any impact on game stability. More to come in future updates...

Stars seen trough heavy clouds?
So basically you can see stars at night trough heavy clouds which is not very realistic.
Anyway i was messing around with FogDistances.cfg and i think i have fixed that...
Also i have made two different fog types:

Well, you can tweak the file if you want to experiment, for me it looks fine.
I am using some extra mods but i don't think that will effect fogdistances.cfg.

The update can be enabled in patrol without issues...:yep:
You can also check download section for compatible/tested addons if you were using some of them. I have also updated few of them so make sure to redownload your mod of choise...

I have blocked download links for a while unitil I see if I can implement The Beast's new German Ho-229B and the Me-262A jet aircrafts...:yep: This could be a really cool addition...

Is it possible to add some VonDos SH3 liners in TWoS? I added the Titanic in SH4, and works fine. Interesting to see some classic liners (Laconia, Mauretania, Wilhelm Gustloff, etc.) in TWoS.
Also the damned Flying Dutchman, included in SH4 (in the Netherlands roster).

There is two things I would like to ask.
1. Where can I set the Gramophone to shuffle the songs?
and
2. What would make this mod perfect (for me personally) if there is a way of integrating or having a Magui version of this mod. Any information or advise on how to go about this without any crashes, or better asked, can it be enabled by enabling it as last without causing the game to crash?

Hey guys.
Did something change in the 1.6 version regarding immersive HUD?
I did exactly the same thing with the OptionsFileEditorViewer as I did in version 1.5 of the mod.
But the HUD never goes away anymore. Just wanted to mention this incase there is a somethings wrong.
Edit: As a side note, I used THEBERBSTER`s guide on how to do it.

And speaking of the Enigma, I'm not sure if its working for me. Till now I have not gotten a single encoded message. I assume the only encoded messages that I can get is the ones giving me new mission orders. However they currently are still not encrypted. Am I missing anything? I made sure the load order was accurate. Cheers.

I received encoded messages in TWoS with update 01. I use the optional for encoded messages. No problems. Also, not a huge lot of messages. The Enigma machine works fine in TWoS.

When installing go to "custom" installation and select another location for the game. Reset the PC, and after, install 1.2.
That works for me.

Something has your SH5.exe file locked.
Try rebooting the Operating System and run the ~\Silent Hunter 5\Support\GameUpdater\GU.exe again.
Or you can try opening a Command window (CMD) with Administrator access and run the unlock command. i.e. "unlock ~\Silent Hunter 5\SH5.exe"
~ == the rest of the install path for Silent hunter 5

After uninstalling run a free Registry Cleaner like Ccleaner and then re-boot your system before re-installing.

Looks brilliant. Just reinstalled sh5 to try this and for the first time ever, I cannot update to 1.2.0.
The game isn't installed in C drive and cannot be. All the links I've found to the patch are broken or viral. Can anyone help please?
I mean restart. Do you have the Steam version?
Do you have an independent exe file for the update 1.02? I have the update as an independent file, downloaded years ago from Ubi.
Or is it downloaded from Ubi when you try to install it?
Try also with and independent Uplay; download it from Ubi.
Uninstall all, clean all with CCleaner or Wise365, restart your PC, install SH5 1.0, restart, and try to install the update. If it works, restart, and start the game, go to new campaign, start it, when the film starts (you are sleeping), exit to main menu. Exit the game. And start to set TWoS as explained in post 1 and the videos.

Thanks for your suggestions, all. It looks like it was simply the "wrong" drive for the game and maybe Windows 10 and the game directory not being in a Program Files(x86) folder had something to do with it. Whatever, in the end I robbed my D to expand the C drive and installed it there, all updated fine from gu file.
Thanks for the clear, concise, easy to follow mod install instructions, I'm really hopeful I can at last get some use out of SH5 and learn manual targeting without having to worry about corrupted installs and more.

Hey guys.
Did something change in the 1.6 version regarding immersive HUD?
I did exactly the same thing with the OptionsFileEditorViewer as I did in version 1.5 of the mod.
But the HUD never goes away anymore. Just wanted to mention this incase there is a somethings wrong.
Edit: As a side note, I used THEBERBSTER`s guide on how to do it.

You need to do the changes in OFEV with the mods (all) engaged. Then, disengage and reengage the mods. That´s works.
There is an other way - explained by Vecko some posts ago - changing the route of folders of OFEV, but I prefer this more simple method.
Don´t forget to open OFEV.cfg and change the route of your installation (by default is "C:"), as with TDW Patcher when install the game.

I use an special camera.cam file (only for 16:9), reducing the flickering textures in ships and reflections. The file is in some post in this same thread. I´m searching it, but I can´t find it....:hmmm:

The RayTracedHalo I originally had there was done wrong so I took it out.
Was going to put short range wide angle Search Light there but haven't had time.
- Need to create a small cone 3D Object that fits inside the Lamp shade for Search Light effect. The light from lamp would look like actual swing lamp light.
There is no Lens on the swinging lamp, so you can not add controller like on the other lights or the entire swinging lamp(including wire) may light up.

I have put back a few files such as "Room_Int_LampHalo.dat" and "int_halo_table.dds" but that hasn't worked. As I'm currently in the middle of a patrol, I haven't played around too much in case I break my install. Your plan about adding the short searchlight cone that has the beam moving back and forth across the table in motion with the swinging light would add so much ambiance to the dining room area. :yep: Although the original wasn't perfect, it was better than no illumination at all of the swinging dining room light.
EDIT: Got the halo back on the dining table light. :D Just replaced the Room_QR1_silentmichal.GR2 file with the original from TheBeast's Room_QR1 mod.

In my opinion the power of the light bulb is not sufficient to create a halo. Also the other lamps do not have halo and in normal conditions there isn't a lot of fog in the u boot.
Always in my opinion.

I took the Halo out before I uploaded last version to SubSim.
The Halo was not complete at that time as it was supposed to be Yellow for day and Blue for night.
Also, light switching from day to night was not in sync with game play as its time seemed to always be set to GMT time not GMT + or - depending on current Sub position. So Sub would go Red light but table light would stay Yellow for some time before switching to night light.
I was also having problems getting the Lamp Shade to block the light halo like is done in SHIII or SHIV because the entire swinging lamp is one 3D Object.

I have damaged rudder.. it's on 69%. i'v set it to repair but it doesn't repair it's always on 69%. I have asked the crew for faster repair but that doesn't help. Currently im on a rough sea..wind 15km/s...does that have any impact with repair times or is that a permanent damage to my rudder and cannot be repaired?

The screenshot has the halo...I figured that it was better than nothing. Looking forward to seeing a light bulb in the swinging dining room light. It would be fantastic to have the light beam moving back and forth over the table as the light moves. :D

Disable the 02 update
Enable the 03 update.
Always look at the update instructions.
When you click on the update you will see the changes that have been made and it will tell you whether the update can be updated in patrol or only when docked in the bunker.

In TWoS, some external damage can not be repaired without dry dock. It was impossible to perform such repairs at sea for U-Boat crews...

There is a way to activate generic patcher even with steam version of the game but it is rather advanced (not too advanced of course...:yep:). Watch provided video tutorial for more info...:yep:
The game/mod will work even without the patcher but lot of aspects of the game will stay broken without it...

I was not aware of a problem since the original problems were updated by the Subsim community.
I am only the messenger here not my work.
There is another way round this problem which I have seen mentioned regarding STEAM not just for SH5 but also works for other SH versions.

I had no idea that getting it through steam was so bad, working on getting a vm going to see if I can patch it that way, if not no worries I guess.
Out of curiosity, where else do you buy it? Would the amazon downloads work? I didn't see the game on Ubisoft's store page or I would have gotten it there.

If you enable appropriate TAI/Nav map options via OFEV (Torpedo Solution Line), you should be able to observe in game predicted torpedo path . Don't forget to also disable real nav of course...:yep:

I'm aware of occasional CTD while interacting with crew problem. It's mostly noticeable when talking with the guy from rear torpedo room (useless, because there is no any interaction options after all). The problem is that the issue is not 100% reproducible and it's hard to catch. For now, just avoid interaction with that guy...
In general, note that all complex crew interaction animation can sometimes crash the game, especially after long playing session, so be careful with that.
When I get home I'll try to reproduce the issue...

Good advice from Vecko as always.
No problems with my crew since.
It pays to bump up the bonus points on the Bosun especially as the Cook seems to be 1 morale point lower than others and that means no special meal unless you use the Bosun's emergency morale booster.

I notice there is a Tab to update the Deck Gun but there is not a Tab for the Flak Gun.
The Deck Gun Tab is irrelevant anyway as only the 88cm type of gun was fitted anyway.
I would have thought the single barrelled Flak Gun would show some sort of update even if not currently available.

You have to change conning tower first. Default VIIB conning tower never had AA capabilities (my favorite by the way)...

Hi Vecko, my TWoS installations have been rock solid for quite a long time now with the exception of one situation. If my boat receives damage which could be considered a "killer blow", for instance direct hits from a DD's heavy guns, especially if still surfaced, will usually result in a CTD for me. "Severe" damage normally results in the usual frenzy of activity such as trying to control flooding, and damage control teams trying to repair things etc but no CTD. As I don't recall seeing anyone else reporting this specific condition, it is more than likely that this is peculiar to my system but would be interesting to know if other players have encountered this. I also get an error message that "Silent Hunter 5 has stopped working" every time that I exit the game normally.

:up: just about got it all sorted now. :D These pattern running torpedoes are the first new toys I've had to play with for ages! I'm now hanging out to get my hands on a radar set but I fear that won't happen for a while yet....:wah:
The crew are excited and eager to get out of La Spezia and back to the Gibraltar/Malta convoy route to see for themselves how effective these new T1 FaT 1 torpedoes really are! :yep:

Strange indeed...No such issues here, but I will do some quick testing...:yep:
My game does not crash even if I treat my sub as a hovercraft and fly out at dry land with high TC :), which means almost instant destruction of all sub systems and parts...
If we define strict test scenario where CTD can be reproduced for you and for me, then there is a good chance that I could fix the issue (if it exists at all)...:yep:
For a start, can you do "hovercraft" (:D) test without CTD ?
Can you confirm that the issue is still there even with clean SH5/TWoS installation without any additional mods?
EDIT:
I just got pounded to death by two destroyers in "FX Update Testing" mission (surfaced) and drove type VIIC41 with flank speed into dry land with TC32...All went fine (not so fine for Dieter and the gang though...):hmm2:

Testing with the latest TWoS version and my own additional mods:
Test 1 - U-boat surfaced with DD and Frigate pounding with guns...sub destroyed and no CTD
Test 2 - U-boat at periscope depth...fired torpedo salvo and destroyed DD. Frigate rammed sub and resulted in a CTD.
Test 3 - U-boat at periscope depth...fired torpedo salvo and destroyed DD. Frigate attacked with depth charges, sub hit resulting in a CTD.

Test 3 - "Hovercraft test"...well this was the hard part because I had to destroy both DD and Frigate to be able to surface and crash my boat into the
coast at flank speed and 512 TC! I made a couple of attempts at killing both attackers which resulted with me being killed with depth charges but no CTD's
On my third attempt, I accidentally fired the rear tube instead of a salvo at the DD bearing down on me from directly ahead. :oops: I was taking a
reasonable amount of damage as I fired a salvo at the DD which proceeded to continue right into my school of hungry eels! As the DD exploded, I
heard another explosion. The Frigate had somehow run into the #5 torpedo I had inadvertently fired! :D

Regarding your "error message" on game exiting, I wouldn't for now pay too much attention to it, could be some system related settings/issue but probably nothing important... After all, when you exit the game, SH5 should "stop working"...:)

So I bought the game from amazon and starting the install of this once more, installed the game with german voices since it was recommended and I would actually prefer that anyway.
But I do not see an option for subtitles in the options menu? Is there a way to enable them or are the subtitles added with this mod?

You should install game in English and then chose "German voices" in custom installation options../
But I'm not sure does Amason version actually have "german voices"...:hmmm:

There was indeed a german voices option in custom install, in game the menus are all in english but the characters are speaking in German, but I did not see an option to turn on subtitles in the menus.

I don't either, but the German voices do add to the immersion of the game in a BIG way I think, and I soon picked up what the crew were saying.

I like the German Voices as well. I keep the English voices for some things but everything else is in German.
Actually, the German voice files are more complete as English is missing many voice sound samples. I just do a copy/paste and tell it to skip on replacing files.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but back then when I was working on upcge files , it was easier for me to edit equipment names directly in them...It is on my "to do" list but since these changes would require carrier restart to be actually visible in the campaign, I'll postpone them for a while.
Note that "Tech. description" area is still in English...:yep: Unfortunately, in SH5 you can't prioritize repairs like in SH4/3. All systems are repaired at the same time by the rates stated in Equipment.upc file...:nope:

I just found something while poking around in the Campaign's.
There are MANY files that are identical duplicates (Common) in each Campaign like Harbors.mis for example.
I used WinMerge to verify that all these files were identical. (A lot of dead weight and not to mention keeping them in sync)
I edited my data\Campaigns\CampaignProjects\Total_Germany.pj file and made the following changes.

MissionName=..\Common\ScriptedPortPlanes
Mission Editor 2 was able to successfully load those files for the total Total_Germany Campaign from the Common Campaign without any errors.
Using TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_168_0 I have the option enbled to show all game messages and there were no error's while starting the game.
I started a new Career and the Buoy's and Scripted Planes were working in Total_Germany Campaign.
Removing all those Duplicated files would greatly reduce TWOS MOD size (disk space footprint) making it a faster download etc.
This is a easy change to all Campaign Project (.pj) files that can be tested/verified quickly.:ping:

I made a test MOD that installs/removes campaign files.
Alls the files REMOVED_ are changed in the Total_Germany.pj to be read from the Common Campaign folder and game is running fine.
TDW Validator reports 2 Campaign errors, One for Monsun_Gruppe and one for Turning_Point. These 2 empty Campaign folders were added by EMCCD Mod and not related to this test.

I dont know if this is related but sometimes ships seem deeper in the water than it should be.

All looks good there...Are you sure that your graphics driver , DirectX are up to date ect?:hmmm: Game updated to official v1.2.0?

The gods of computing were with me this time.
I remake the same installation has a difference. I have use ( The Wolves of Steel 1.06 - 8x5 Resolution Patch) at the beginning of installation. I have a 1680x 1050, 8x5, 16: 10 display. I do not know if that was the reason for the problem. Thank you for your help.

Many thanks Vecko for the update 3. I was using the update 3b (wip), and was working fine in Med campaign.
Question: Now do I need to download the special optionals mods because update 3 change something in those mods? I was using the optional for light explosions. This changes the zones.cfg from update 3. The optional mods are actualized to the new update 3, I think. True?

Just use the same keys and technique as when walking around the boat. When you select external view you will remain stationary while the boat moves so you just use the "WASD" keys...mainly the "W" though, right click the mouse until you can rotate the view the just "fly" around using the mouse to control direction and altitude. Holding "SHIFT" while holding the "W" key will make you "fly" around at twice normal speed.

It can work but I remember I had some CTD issues if SFX addon was not disabled properly. Some files had to be manually deleted from the main game folder because they will be created afterwards when game is started. Better not to mess up with if you are not familiar with various game's dll files...
Just want to say thank you very much for this fantastic mod!
Wolves of Steel mega mod, made me decide to purchase Silent Hunter V. Sadly I bought it from Steam. I followed the instructions for installing the mod exactly until I got to where steam users are to go to the other link. I decided to just launch the game with Steam in offline mode and got the game started. I noticed I couldn't get my realism to 100% and found out on one YouTube video that I had to delete a config file from one of the mods, Wind & Smoke addon and then reload the mod with JSGME. It worked and now I see 100%.
Still, watching videos to help my gameplay and hoping all goes well today. Just one question, am I going to have any problems avoiding the whole part of the TDW Generic Patcher?

I'm removing "Original SV Interior QR1, QR2 Rooms v1_for TWoS 1.06" optional addon until I do some more testing with it. There is a chance that this addon could be responsible for game crash in certain situations when sub is taking damage and which are also very hard to reproduce...

There are MANY files that are identical duplicates (Common) in each Campaign like Harbors.mis for example.
I used WinMerge to verify that all these files were identical. (A lot of dead weight and not to mention keeping them in sync)

Yes, some files are unique to each campaign but a lot of the files a duplicates across all Campaigns.
Making changes to just Total_Germany.pj I really didn't notice much of a performance improvement but after changing all Campaigns, to me, there was a notable improvement in Game Load Time, Save Game Load Time and Virtual Memory Usage.
It may just be me and I haven't actually timed this but I do monitor Virtual Memory Usage in Task Manager because every time I start Silent Hunter 5.
I set CPU Priority to Real Time for SH5.exe and OSI.exe to help ensure I am credited for tonnage sunk.
Then because I have Multiple Monitors I select the Performance Tab(Displays CPU and Virtual Memory Usage Performance) before switching back to SH5 and I can easily watch these performance counters as game loads/plays.
There is also a Resource Monitor Button on the Performance Tab screen that allows you to drill a little deeper but is gear toward Disk Drive performance counters and what processes are accessing each hard drive.
Not going to get started on PerfMon (Performance Monitor) as it would need custom made counters to accurately monitor Silent Hunter 5 Game Performance. This works best when NetMon is installed/enabled on the client so PerMon can monitor from remote machine. That way the NetMon and PerfMon apps have little to no effect on the client being monitored.
Have you had a chance to investigate this?

If you cant handle advanced workaround for steam users, then I think you should ask for refund and buy SH5 somewhere else ... TDW Generic Patcher is the essential application for SH5 and without it the game is pretty much broken, even when heavily modded...

I'm afraid not because the enigma simulator requires some scripts which are introduced only with SH5, but you should better ask SkyBaron in Enigma home thread...

Hey all!
I've installed this mod last night after a long break of SH5.
I followed the instructions to the letter, however when i'm in the campaign and spawn, the voicefiles keep playing and won't stop. It's been 60mins+ already. Any idea how to fix it?
Greetings from a Captain hearing voices(files).
EDIT: Seems i somehow fixed it.

Thank you for the info! I tried and failed to use the workaround for the steam copy. Re-installed the game and mod and will keep playing until I get another copy to do this properly. So far enigma won't work but, will keep going. Will pick up another copy so I can enjoy this mod fully :)

Well, what a pain in the ... :) Checked out Amazon.com and Canadians can't purchase the digital download from the US... Checked out Amazon.ca and prices for Canadians is just stupid. Decided to purchase the digital download from GamersGate and got the Gold edition. After download, I saw the 1.2 patch came with it. After installing and making a new account with UBI, not taking any chances for failure..., I tried using the patch for the game, won't work lol. Okay found a new site http://www.gamepressure.com/download.asp?ID=27190 to see if I need 1.1 first, nope that didn't work either but, then I noticed they have a 1.2 patch for gold/collectors edition and tried that and it worked. So if anyone that has the gold or collectors edition, there is two different 1.2 patches for the game, pick the right one and all is good.

Howdy all,
I managed to use the Steam version of this game that has been sitting in my library for some time, and get this mega mod working with Windows 10. The posted Steam work around works fine, fairly simple IMO. The "trick" for me was I had to get SH5 registered to UPlay using the Steam .exe before swapping in the extracted .exe.
The rest of the install for the mod went pretty smoothly, thanks for the detailed instructions, tips and FAQs! I've also enjoyed the YouTube and in game tutorials to help get me up to speed!
Got boat outfitted in Memel (it is cool to learn this is Lithuania) and was told to head out to the Danzig bay.
Got to the patrol area, spotted two Polish escorts, and was planing to deal with them when the Luftwaffe came by and took care of the issue for me..
Made it to the Danzig port just in time to spot other Luftwaffe raid take care of all the contacts there. Continued west and found a Polish freighter trying to head out of the bay...
[At this point I saved the game and learned via experience what I later read in the FAQ, don't save near active ships. This save would not reload, so I went back to an earlier save and noticed this time the Danzig Air Raid didn't happen, so some stuff appears to be random.]
After taking out my first prey, command send me to investigate deeper into the bay and found a merchant at dock, time for a harbor raid. Conveniently, the patrolling Coastal Boat decided to break for dinner and made a nice stationary target as well.
After taking out the ships docked in Danzig in similar fashion, I was out of torpedoes, as at least 3 were duds.
On my way out of the bay, I found two more merchants, and decided to use the deck gun.
The next day, at the edge of the patrol area, command wanted me to investigate a contact. Found the three patrolling warships I saw earlier, and a new merchant, but my request for supplies was denied, so sent in a contact report.
Message from Command, "Be more aggressive". With what? I suppose I could take the knife from the cook and climb aboard the ship...
At this point I patrol a bit help spot contacts and then head for Kiel at the appointed time.
My main question at this point is the flow / structure of the game. I noticed that there is an overall campaign, chapters, patrols, missions, and secondary objectives.
When I read the notice in the FAQ about watching the campaign times, and making sure I was "on patrol", I thought that applied to objective timeline, in this case I think it was Sep 5 39. So I stayed in the area, without ammo for a couple of days just to make sure I'm out at that time.
But it seems that isn't needed for mission ends, only the end of a chapter?
I also noticed there are some messages in the "Captains Log", that I don't recall seeing in the Radio Log. One was something along the lines of "Objectives complete, return or patrol further". I'd guess I could have went to Kiel at that point?
I also noticed that some radio messages have "red" or "blue" backgrounds. It seems to be the "important direct orders / requests". Is there a specific meaning to the colors?
Minor note, I noticed that in some places, I'm listed as U-28, and others as U-35?
Also, the ships log seems to have a feature to save and load journals; is there a guide on how that should be used?
The Enigma machine was interesting and educational, I knew some of the details, but this was definitely more in-depth. I probably spent over an hour decoding the first message as I learned how to operate the machine. It was really funny decoding the 2nd one, and having the radio man give me a new message that gave me the same info. He stayed clear of me the next couple of hours...

Download the update 1.02 from the Ubi page. Don´t use Uplay for update the game.
Also download the last Uplay from Ubi, directly, and install it. Don´t wait to automatics updates from Uplay.
