I have installed SH5 and its patched correctly, It is still the stock game, but I keep getting the picture included saying the UBISoft Server is down.

I was going to install Wolves of Steel.

Run your SH5.exe as an administrator.

Hi guys, i bought SH5 since the release. Now the WOS Mod is installed and also the 2.2.3 update. Actually i'am playing Mare Nostrum, but with a little problem....I still have XVIIB instead of the C model...WHY?? Can someone help me with this issue? Thanks in Advance!
Low rating which is caused by low tonnage or skipped patrols, neutral kills...You can check your current rating with KSDcommander.
i have a small question : does Real Navigation disables the option to ask your navigator for " Maximum range at current speed"? or is there another command for that, the menu is greyed out. That is a very useful thing to know in game .
The command is still available trough navigator /WO interactions menu...

Download from UBI the Uplay and reinstall it (only Uplay, not all SH5). Ever I had the same problem when installed SH5 (DVD version).

Redownload the installer and try again .

TO Anyone that might know what to do.

I have installed SH5, updated to 1.2 and added TWoS, successfully or so I thought.

When I am on the Uboat, If I select the map station in any way, the whole game just shuts off and goes straight back to the desktop.


2nd Item trying to install TDW’s NewUi_ 7_5_0_TheDarkWraith_ version 18 and the Berbsters guide has no pictures to guide me.

I have it downloaded, it is unzipped in a file and I know to put one file in the Mods (where the mods are) folder?, but the other two? and then updating using the patcher????, I have gone through the videos, and I cannot see the words on the video as Im, old, goes to fast and I cannot read it. LOL I am really getting old LOL, I am at a loss, I know that it is something simple, but someone give me some quick direction, or the link to the actual photos.

I had installed a radio mod into the system, and I did not need to. The game works just fine.

EXCEPT its all in GERMAN, I cannot speak GERMAN! I selected English all during install am I missing something?

Also still in need of adding the Dark Wraith Mod. And there are no photos with the directions.

I just sunk Polish sub(540t) and it did not count into my Patrol tonnage.
Its not in Warships or Merchants, its not even in total sunk ship count(got 2 warships and three merchants, ton numbers sits).
Its just 540 but still...how often you sink sub with sub...:wah:

Definitly not normal. Ive gotten warship tonnage before from both brit and polish subs i just updated to 2.2.5 this weekend ill test it out and see if i can find a sub. chances are you didnt sink it and she just dived.

If its case, i doubt they surface again with so many holes in hull from my deck gun.
I had it in Log feed as sunk, but not in patrol tons. I tried make screenshot but game have no focus in Windows for some reason.

it could just be a glitch. but from my experience a deck gun wont sink them. ur shooting at a metal object with a meter thick hull. its not paper like surface ships its actually very very thick hulled so if anything ur just bouncing rounds off of it. you need to rupture the hull with explosives/pressure of water or armor piercing rounds and then flooding etc. subs are incredibly hard to sink thru conventional means

Sorry to but in here, but,, do you know how or what a "clean" install entails, i am trying to update too tws2.2.5..or point me where i my find solution?
i have searched and all i find is "do a clean install" and me being some what ignorant of fact.. thanks :Kaleun_Wink:

Clean install means no mods have touched that version of SH5 or whatever ur modding. Previous saved games from vanala probably won't work and if they do more than likely buggy beyond playable

sooo, if i am upgrading from 1.06 too 2.2.5 , all that is required... delete sh5 from programs, (without deleting saved games), reinstall, then run tws 2.2.5.. {don't know what vanala is}

Delete the savegames as well and check install instructions.

I don't know if it is enough for a VIIC in Mare Nostrum. I made MN (chronologically) with a VIIC but I have more than 15.000...

VDR1981 got a question overlord started a new game because figured my old is corrupted and need to delete my old saves etc but noticed on new run that the very first mission is giving me the Object# title for missions is this just a glitch with the first mission or should i delete and try again on my install?

the mission im refering to is the mine layer mission for the attack of poland. just wanna make sure im starting off glitch free.... also noticed the patcher no longer has directions so i might of goofed that up a bit.

It works offline.
Your record will be registered. No registry of others subsimmers. But all the other functions work fine offline.

in my opinion, TWoS is one of the best modpacks for SH5 ever. I'd like to express my respect to the author and all the people who helped to make TWoS reliable and updated! Guys, you've done amazing job!!

Currently I'm using TWoS with updated language pack v2.0.9, and the only mods I'd like to install above are sound ones (Das Boot theme, etc.) and some minor graphical changes (color corrections and window lights). I didn't view the Museum yet to check if Cerberus62 additional ships (auxiliary cruisers and some freighters) are included in TWoS?? If not, may I add them without critical impact to TWoS stability?

Cuts in the downloads? MF counts the downloads , completed or failed.

This probably won't answer your question but, I occasionally download the full installer to make for an easier reinstall of SH5, if and or when I need to do that.

In my case I take the same route as HW3 when it comes to updates and full version upgrades. Even though I am able to enjoy my days on pension, I am not able to spend enough of the relaxing hours behind the SH5 screen as I would like.

Whoever said that you would have too much spare time on your hands when on pension needs to undergo a serious medical examination. :har:

For some reason I don't get a TC drop when enemy air approaches, leading to unfortunate situations. It seems to work fine with enemy ships. Anyone know what the setting in the TDC options file I need for this?

Never mind, I figured it out. However I do have another question. When starting turning point I got offered a new sub. I thought it would be the VII/41, but it ended up being the U-Flak, which I don't care for because of its limited torpedo capacity. I find running at snorkel depth to be a more effected anti-air strategy, so I reloaded a save and kept my VII/C. So how do I drive the VII/41 in this mod, or is it completely replaced by the U-Flak.?

Also noticed a minor, rather inconsequential, visual bug. On the VIIC I'm using with the snorkel. When snorkel is raised and at snorkel depth, snorkel is not visible below the water from external views (only the part that sticks out oft he water is). When you dunk the camera under the water though, you can see it again.

BdU will offer you a type VIIC/41 boat when it becomes available but only if your rating stays positive. Not sure will it be offered if you don't accept U-FLaK though...:hmmm: You can check your rating points using KSDCommander...

I use SH_Keymapper.exe to change a few commands around (because I'm on a Mac and a bunch of keys aren't available) and noticed a few defines attached to the mouse control, but I'm not sure which one controls up and down (vertical) movement. What's the name of the define that does this? I'm hesitant to just play around with it because it takes so long just to get the game up and running and into a save. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

NP. I'll try to fix it when I have some time.

By the way, I am really impressed by the stability of your modpack. I was running my own modlist for some time and had crashes galore. Including one that happened like clockwork whenever approaching a dock after a patrol.

With WoS I've had 1(!) crash, and even that was probably my fault as I modified top TC to 4096. Which, by the way, isn't really a problem 99.99% of the time. I just make sure to slow it down in high traffic areas or near ports. (mostly don't go over 2048 anyway)

SH 5 Just keeps getting better with the Wolves of Steel Mod... But, even with SH3 style interface why, if I try to take a photograph through the periscope - Attack or Observation, it results in an instant CTD - most annoying when just attacking a nice big target like a Convoy, Battleship or High Value target, and as for carrying out a reconnaissance of any port, well again same result...
Advice appreciated with this frustrating problem, but keep up the good work, TWOS makes SH5 better then SHIII with GWX

I have a question about submarine damage. Today, my escort ships have damaged the integrity of the hull to 99 percent and I did not catch the submarine. Even the deep rudders were not damaged, but unfortunately I could not prevent the ship gradually descending into depth and its subsequent crushing by pressure. It does not seem to me that my damage was so extensive that I ended up doing so. Boat did not react at all to fill the ballast tanks with air and to set the rudders to emerge and full thrust of electric motors. I just kept dropping to the depth until the end. I thank for clarifying how the submarine damage is set in this megamod.

Try full blow and flank speed ahead. Manual planes full for surface.

What damaged zones do you have?

I could recover the boat with 90% hull and light flood from 160 mts. depth

Overall hull integrity is just a leftover from stock dumb damage model and it doesn't have much influence on your sub. Now we have individual compartments integrity and their pressure hulls which are much more important. You can check R.S.D. documentation/change log for more info about TWoS damage modeling...

So I'm getting an interesting bug where the screen remains black despite the main menu music playing in the background. I had this bug with Vanilla and solved it by overriding the dpi settings, but this doesn't seem to work now. Any tips?

Edit: So running it in compatibility mode allows me to run the game but at absolutely horrid frames considering I have a 1050ti...

Hello gents I am experiencing a strange bug with TWOS 2.2.5 deck's awash option. When I select deck awash option while being inside the submarine I can't open the top hatch in the conning tower. However when my submarine is completely surfaced and I am on the deck while I order deck awash I can open the hatch from outside. I cannot do it form the inside of submarine. Has anyone of you experianced it as well?

I have, after a break and dedicated time to my passion of flight sims, gotten into SH5 with TWOS mod. Awesome sim, so thank you so much for that. I have heard horror stories of the unmodded SH5.

I'm facing two little problems though:

1) When I open the map, I cannot zoom or move the map about. After some time I discovered there is a tool open on the map by default with a large transparent area around it. Once I move this tool with its border out of the way, I can operate the map properly. (see screenshot below)

2) On calm sea, doing 9 knots I asked the navigator to give me a celestial nav fix, and after some time he always aborts it due to submerging. But we are nowhere near submerging.

I'm facing two little problems though:

DO you use any TWoS unrelated mods Mud?

I do have a deck gun sound mod, and the Equatool by AVM.

But I already had this issue before enabling those mods, right after the clean install. I even did a full clean reinstall. What I have not done yet is redownload TWOS.

My file size of TWOS 2.2.5 is (2.200.077.833 bytes)

Deck gun sound is OK but Equatool is probable causing your problems...

Well, it is still the case. I disabled Equatool because you made me doubt myself now, but the issue persists. :)

The tool shown in my screenshot is also not one present in Equatool. It looks quite different.

One thing that perhaps sets off my setup from most people's is that I have a 1920x1200 screen. I have the aspect ratio fix 8x5 installed.

All in all it's not a major issue. I just move that beginning tool and its area to the side and then everything is working fine. Including Equatool.

The other thing with the navigator interrupting the celestial fix, I never had in the past on calm seas.

As for the celestial fix, it appears that doing 9 knots may rock the boat a bit more than other speeds.

Tú debes descargarlo y tiene un installer (exe file). Sigue bien las instrucciones para la configuración final de tus preferencias. Debes tener SH5 con el update 1.2.

Apparently, you can change the color of the map tools by right clicking them. I tried a few out, but the options I tried don't seem to stand out too well from the map background and are hard to see. Anyone have any suggestions for values that look good?

Also, I've been playing around with the scope filter colors. I found that setting it to white (255,255,255) with an alpha around 20-29, depending on moonlight conditions, greatly improves visibility at night.

You should be able to refuel in Dakkar. You have to go way inside the harbor though - practically all the way to the sub pens.

- Why I can't refit my sub in some "blue" ports?
Because it's not realistic...Sub refitting was very time consuming and hard process which could only be accomplished with specialized tools
and/or in dedicated locations. Changes in WoS files will simulate this to some extent by allowing players to take provisions only in ports which
could support U-Boat operations and withing a certain time span...

I use The Wolves of Steel 2.2.5 and it's appear that I can't no longer use the bottom portrait icons to send the patrol report. And I think that the key bind : "Enter" doen't work for me (nothing append when I press Enter)

I mean, when the BdU ask : Report status and position. What should I do?

I have no other addons installed.

I tried open horizons back when it first came out, I believe as far as I can see that this mod is partly based on OHII but with a lot of things changed.

first off I am confused about the campaign transfer, I see a lot of talk about it but I honestly do not understand a damn thing what I am supposed to do with it.

A: What is the campaign transfer about
B: Do I need to trigger it to play the game with this mod

Other than that I am merely confused on how I have to trigger it if I need it for this mod. I know, I've seen the links and I read them, however, for some reason I do not think that I am getting it all correctly.

As far as I am aware I have been starting a new campaign with a fresh profile.

I seem to have started at the first flotilla instead of at Sea like in the original campaign. According to what I see I need to be in my submarine preferably somewhere at open sea without any AI around me.

I understand that I need to wait until the date passes 1st March 1941?

and if I do this, can I sink shipping before that date or do I just put myself in a corner somewhere out in the sea and use time compression?

now if I read correctly when the end date is reached I will get a message what I need to do within the campaign the problem is that I never get these instructions and I tried it 3 times already.

Aside from that, I have another problem.

I like submarine sims like silent hunter games and those like cold waters but there is a limit to my understanding of how submarines REALLY work and the time I want to put into it to learn it.

One of these tools is the solution lines, and the dots on the solution lines on both my sub and the leading dot on the targeted ship.

The problem is the options are ticked on but the dots do not show for me.

The question:

A: What did I do wrong that they do not show
B: how to enable them correctly [rememeber I already ticked the marks on]

Anyway thanks for any assistance that you are able to give me ...

No need to worry much about campaign transfers in latest TWoS versions...:yep: Just sail your campaign, hunt ships and when the time comes, specially developed set of in game radio messages will tell you what to do...Don't pay too much attention to Mama's tweaks ect...:yep:

Those options should be available in map settings screen or OFEV application. Not sure, I never used those things...:hmm2:

Thank you for the help, i do have another issue, in game when i open the captain's log, my U boat doesn't have a number, it says my U boat name is the following: U-**. In the commander add on it does say the correct name, but is there any solution to this in game? Its a little annoying to me.

That one I know, make sure you have something like notpad++ installed for this since it involves editing a file

first head to -> YOUR DRIVE INSTALL location -> Silent Hunter 5\data\Scripts\Menu

scroll all the way down you will see TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py

right click it and edit it with notpad++
press CTRL+F paste in this -> Ships Journal

scroll down a little you will see

UboatHullNumber="U-**" -> change this to your U-boat hull number
UboatCaptainName="OLt zS Eisen Wolf" -> Change this to whatever name you want to give your captain :D

make sure to save it and you are done, on next game load, your log will show the correct hull number and your captain name.

You can edit the User options with the OptionsFileEditorViewer.exe located at /data/applications in your installation folder. Here you can re-enable all the stuff that makes it easier to play - especially the AutoTDC. The File you need to edit with it is located at /data/scripts/menu/TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py

With AutoTDC active, all you have to do to get a solution is:

Lock on Target
Unlock Target
Point periscope at part of ship you want to hit (plus set correct depth)
Fire

Also in the editor you can make it that the manual TDC is disabled by default (XO icon), and is hidden until you need it. The manual TDC has to be disabled (in game) to use this method. But if you set the options correctly, it will already be disabled by default.

The only thing it does is ticking the options on by default on the minimap and map without my actually doing it myself.

The problem is that it still doesn't show me the round numbers in the actual game in the minimap or map, it seems that for some reason the visual round numbers are disabled regardless the fact that I have enabled them in the options.

I do not know where I have to find these option to enable it to make them actually show on the map like I had them.

Also, I am not using any other mods other than the ones provided in the wolves of steel mod...

I've been looking hard to find this, I am not sure if this is related to the round numbers but with all the options there I went through them all twice and I think I also went over some of them a third time where I think I can find them logically but so far no luck.

The only thing I was able to find is the lock/break lock in the scope settings

yeah well I kinda feel dumb, I think I found out why these dots were not enabled. If i only had read the link a bit better from THEBERBSTER I would've set up my realism settings correctly.

It seems that I still had MANUAL targeting enabled :har:

The autoTDC i am not entirely sure if I understand it but if I have set it up correctly then I hope I will manage.

so im not sure what happened, but i loaded up mu game with the WoS mod and for some reason the graphics mod in Wolves of Steele isn'y working anymore, it reverted to stock graphics. All i did was turn on the minimap in the patches and nothing else and then i turned it off and the graphics were still stock graphics. What did i do?

Hey, just a quick question, I am not sure but I tried the automated TDC and I do think it works. So far I locked on target four times and they when the lock is released the solution seems to be automatically calculated but when I release the torps they always seem to miss by a hair.

I am not sure but when I use the solution numbers I am slightly more successful. It somehow feels like my timing is a bit off?

Its hard to tell whats going on in your periscope view because its so dark, but I think I know the issue. You need to keep your periscope crosshairs on the part of the ship you want to hit. To help with this you can press the "X" key, which will lock the crosshairs on the center of the ship. (Different from TDC lock with "SPACE".) From there, you can press "Shift-Q" or "Shift-E" to move the lock left or right on the target.

You should also be at a full stop when firing.

Its also possible, if your using gas torpedos, that the ships saw them coming and took evasive measures. Try electric torpedos.

Yeah, it was pitch black on these engagements I kinda had a hard time myself to see them. I honestly went with my instruments to fire my torps than going by what I could see through the scope.

It can also be done manually. You just have to make sure the crosshair is on the part of the ship you want to hit when you fire. You should aim just behind the smoke stack for maximum damage.

There is also a "night-filter" you can enable to make things easier at night. Click on the "HUD" icon up in the top left area with the torpedo settings. Then click enable hud. The colors and alpha channel can be altered with a mouse-scroll when hovering over them. (its bit buggy. sometimes it won't register and you have to close and reopen the window and try again.) I found 255,255,255 with an alpha around 23 works best.

To check if your on target, check the minimap when (space) locked on. The solution line should pass through the ship. Then unlock and fire while maintaining the same periscope orientation on the target.

And its "Shift-Q" and "Shift-E" for left and right, FYI.

I have, after a break and dedicated time to my passion of flight sims, gotten into SH5 with TWOS mod. Awesome sim, so thank you so much for that. I have heard horror stories of the unmodded SH5.

I'm facing two little problems though:

1) When I open the map, I cannot zoom or move the map about. After some time I discovered there is a tool open on the map by default with a large transparent area around it. Once I move this tool with its border out of the way, I can operate the map properly. (see screenshot below)

2) On calm sea, doing 9 knots I asked the navigator to give me a celestial nav fix, and after some time he always aborts it due to submerging. But we are nowhere near submerging.

Coming back on this:

- Uninstalled SH5, deleted the folder.
- Fresh install through Uplay of SH5
- Launched a historical mission in the game: no map tool problem.
- Redownloaded TWOS and installed.
- Started the game without enabling any mod in JSGME
- Launched a historical mission in the game: map tool problem is present.

During the installation of TWOS, .net is skipped though since Windows says already installed or part of a higher version.

Check that you have display scaling overriden in the .exe's properties.

Oh man! I'm in spring of '44 in Turning Point, and boy has it gotten hard. My tactics that served me well the entire game are not helping me anymore.

I'm attacking a big convoy at night, positioning myself just out of range of escort ASDIC. I shoot a double salvo at two ships a little less than 5k away using electrics. I'm already diving to 150 and backing away slowly at silent running, altering my course to a 45 degree angle to the convoy's path as soon as I let my fish swim.

But they always are finding me now! Even when I stop my boat when they get to close even for silent running. I try evasive maneuvers when their on top of me, shooting off decoys. Going back to slow when they're a little farther away, and back to stop when they get to close. BOOM! depth charged and sunk to the bottom of the sea. Tried it three times now with no luck.

Anyone have any tips for "advanced" attack and evade? Should I switch to gas/steam and go for 12 km night shots? I'm going to try a few more things later, but wow. I think I'm going to have to go for less heavily escorted or non-escorted convoys and single ships now.

edit: Okay, so I disengaged from this convoy. It seems the destroyer captain's guarding this one were a little too elite for me, which I believe is simulated. I found another huge convoy of the same size and was able to get away Scott-free using my usual tactics.

I believe I was around 180 m deep. I find it hard to maintain depth below that even though I've tested my VII/41 to around 270

I had another funny thing happen to me just now though, on the "Invasion Imminent" mission while stalking the channel. A GeIII electric torpedo circled back on me and sunk me! Never had that happen before!

Wonderful mod, thank you so much Vecko for your work.

I've been playing around with TWOS the last couple of days and decided to do a clean install.

I'm using the Steam version, so I uninstalled SH5 via steam, deleted the Silent Hunter 5 folder (as well as the saved games folder in documents) and ran cc cleaner to clear the registry.

I reinstalled the game via steam, patched the .exe to 1.2 (via the tutorial from sirarrow) and used the TWOS 2.2 installer. Everything goes fine until the steam conversion portion of the installer which says "There is a problem with the SH5 regkey".

I can continue with the installation but I need to keep pointing the installer to the install directory. It SEEMS like everything has installed OK but I'm not really sure and would like to do a full reinstall where everything goes perfectly.

How can I avoid getting the "There is a problem with the SH5 regkey" error in the installer?

patched the .exe to 1.2 (via the tutorial from sirarrow) and used the TWOS 2.2 installer. I do not have Steam but I am interested to know why you need to use this tutorial from sirarrow) when theTWoS installer also contains Sputterfish's automatic Steam Conversion Tool, I would assume you have all the instructions you need here in the PDF.

I do not have Steam but I am interested to know why you need to use this If I install clean from steam and don't update the EXE (per sirarrow), the TWOS 2.2 installer runs into an error related to the exe file while attempting to install and the game will not launch.

Edit: I was able to get a good install without updating the steam SH5.exe to 1.2, I just needed to run the vanilla game once, close uplay and steam, then run the TWOS installer. All good!

I just needed to run the vanilla game once, close uplay and steam, then run the TWOS installer. All good! Now that makes sense because Vecko would not have added a Steam conversion having to use another app that he does not mention.

One question: After installing the mod "The Wolves of Steel v2.2" I do not longer see the red (enemy) and blue(friend) symbols for ships closed to my boat. I know that in reality, the skippers also do not have that, but currently without this map it's to hart for me.

I disabled "Real navigation" and disabled "No contact update in map" in the options - but still there are no ships available on my map.

Any ideas?

There is an addon mod "Map colors" for that. See between the addons mods made by Vecko for TWoS. Use JSGME for add it.

Just coming back after a couple years and saw this MOD and decided to try it. So far it appears to have most of the old mods I used to use.



Couple of questions I can't seem to find in search.


1 is there a key command list for this mod? Or anything better than the stock one. I have the basic one and it stinks doesn't even have M for map on it.


2 How do we get triple screen working in 5760 x 1080?



I know I had this procedure before but that hard drive is now dead and I have installed this through STEAM unfortunately.


I had external views working in this resolution but when I went into options it dropped me to a lower single monitor and I'm not going to mess with anything without hearing from an old hand.


PS It's great to see the community going strong after so many years and thanks for the MODS!

I disabled "Real navigation" and disabled "No contact update in map" in the options - but still there are no ships available on my map. Can you see your sub on the map?

There are only 2 things I am aware of which will not show any map contacts.
!. The real navigation mod enabled.
2. The box has been ticked in Game play options "No map contact update"


There is an add on mod TWoS Map Contact Colors as an additional option.

I've followed the installation instruction precisely. The only difference is that my Steam folder in in the D:/ drive.
Before the installation of the mod I verified that SH5 starts ok.

Now i still have UAC showing up when I start the program.. but I don't think that should be an issue...

Make sure that your game is updated to v1.2.0 before you install TWoS mod. Cheers!

Are we supposed to use the Widescreen-GUI Mod with WOS?


Is it in WOS or do I have to do the JSGME?

Hello, captains. I am back on sh5 and TWOS, but ? I starting new campaign - external view - camera out from sector???? - crew standing on the bridge when submerged??? If bridge clear when submerged and when surface the boat crew not out on the bridge, ????? :k_confused::k_confused::k_confused::k_confused: Early versions of TWOS works fine and I don't have this problem. Win 10 in compatible mod Win 7 run admin rights. Sorry my language and thanks great mod, but don't playable for me......:wah::wah::wah::wah::wah::wah::wah::wah::w ah::wah:

Ahoy,

I have some issues with this release.

I made a fresh SH5 install, updated to 1.2. (Ubisoft launcher version)
copied the files to a new folder, Silent Hunter 5 - The Wolves Of Steel,
ran the WOS installer, went through all the steps
but:

The HUD is not working properly.
-No Speed nor Depths nor course are indicated. The numbers are on zero and the red indicating triangles are in the middle of the gauge
-the compass is not switching to the rudder gauge as the small button says

-the enigma codebooks are empty (only the tables and menus are shown, but no data)
-the scrollwheel does nothing to the enigma (i can open it and change the wheels, but I can not set them to another letter)
-one codebook does not open at all(2nd from the bottom)

I tested the clean installation -> works fine
I installed it on 2 different machines -> same
I updated Graphics driver -> same
I ran SH5 as Windows 7 administrator of course -> same
I tried it without any of the mods -> same
I disabled Kaspersky Security -> same

I will try installing WOS to the default SH5-insallation folder as a last step, but I don't think that makes any difference.

I could not find this issues elsewhere.

Did you accept it as part of the TWOS installation process?

I think I solved it by myself. I tried that last step, installing TWOS in the default installation folder instead of installing it to a copy of that folder. I will test this out on my main machine now.

EDIT:
Yes! That was the problem. I was used to make a copy of the original gamefolder like i did with LSHIII. Now with uplay problems sorted out as well, die Feindfahrt kann beginnen :salute:

The Antivirus was off (first thing I did).

One thing: When it asked me to install directx it does come up with an "error' stating the window 8, 10 doesn't need directx 9.0 and it seems it never installed it.

**** Fixed it. Simply re-installed on the default C: directory instead of D: It's all good now :Kaleun_Cheers:

My wishlist for future versions of WOS (yes, I know WOS is a collection of other mods, but a man can dream):

* Option for higher resolution and larger TDC dials. It can be hard to see what I'm inputting at 1050 resolution, so I usually use it conjunction with the XO interface.

* More immersive periscope view. Something more like SHIII, where we get more than a black background. Maybe even integrate the TCD into a SHIV style "box".

* Option to disable morale stuff. I hate having to go to my cook and morale officer every few days to boost it to keep it high. Too micro.

* Fix radar so I can still use it at decks-awash or even if a little water splashes over my bow.

On a side note, I'm almost to May of '45. Is there some kind of end game screen?

If i'm understanding you correctly, you can't access the TAI map or instruments?

For the TAI, try to click the little grey circle above the depth orders bar on the left.

The instruments (I assume you mean the TDC dials) can be accessed from the periscope view. There are three buttons near the torpedo launch button, "Spread", "Minimal", and "All". Try clicking one of those, depending on what you need to see.

Logic says a corrupted game save.

Where were you and how did you make this last game save?
Have you tried loading the game save before this problem one?
Can you see the TAI Map and the instruments?

TAI map work properly. Ok all after loading my save game. When I use time compression 8 or 64 or 256 or 2 on topographic map - all TAI instruments disappear. grey circle disappear and all attributes of TAI map.

The navigation map covers a much greater area and your boat will stay within the map area easier.
The TAI map has a much better use in the attack station where using the Tab key and your scroll wheel makes it a very useful tool.

TWoS and it's improved OHII campaign already have a number of scripted historical events, like invasion of Norway, Bismark's first and last voyage into Atlantic, D-day invasion, some events in Mediterranean sea IIRC ect. Adding more is possible in the future but I'll have to allocate more spare time for research and editing these complex events in mission editor. We'll see...:hmm2:

In game though, the periscope view represents more than just looking through the optics. You have the TDC dials, recognition manual, and the torpedo controls. I think it would be nice to have this represented in a more attractive way

This mod disables morale limitations on orders. It says it was superseded by the fixes brought by the 1.2 patch. However, I was using this before with my own custom mod list on 1.2 though. It seemed to disable the morale pips entirely too.

I have a little question. Iam using Real Navigatiom and would love to get radio contacts like convoys marked on the map. I mean the reports the bdu sends during patrol. Is that somehow possible? I tried to look in the TDW Options but was not able to find anything.

Hi Berbster,

unfortunately I don`t get the viewer working properly.
I did everything as mentioned in the tutorial like adding the SH5 installation path, the menu txt path.

When I want to open the TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py file in the option viewer.exe an error message is popping up , saying that more than 800 strings are opened so the program can`t find the options.

I did a clean new install of the game and installed the full mega mod version of Wolves of Steel 2.2.5.

The mod works fine and played already 2 missions but I would like to change slightly some options.
Any advise?

Yes, but don't be too much excited. There's a little chance that you'll see any epic naval fight. Most of the scripted historical events are reduced to units transition mainly. After all, it would be very strange to see Hood sinking the Bismark due to random nature of the game.

Just uninstalled everything. Clean install of SH5 and TWOS.

opened again the OFEV added both paths for menu and Game Folder.

You only have to open TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py file, edit it and save...

I have found one little thing that is not realistic.
When i look at my sub through periscope underwater, the sub looks all wavey and curved. I think this not realistic, you would only see wavey effect of the sub if you look from above the water due to light bending.

since I use Win 10, there was only one thing the installation didn`t use since apparently there was a new version already installed. Don`t remember which file it was.

yes generic file patcher was activated before I started SH5. I actived nearly everything in there and saved.
I loaded also some different mods in the JSGE before I started the game. I read the instructions like, can be enabled any time, or activate only when in harbour and acted accordingly.

I created a new career and spawned.
Crashes happened in the harbour as soon as I wanted to talk to the officer regarding the mission. Normally a map is showing and the officer talks about the situation and you have to choose the mission. In this case it should have been the one with the Polish task force.
Last week it worked but I haven`t used the JSGE.

Yesterday it didn`t work while using the JSGE.

Hi Berbster.

will post the mods this evening since I am not at home right now.
I can say only that these are the mods which are included in Wolves of Steel v.2.2.5 full version.

(example no flags on submarine etc.) I think 20 mods are automatic in there which 4-5 are the resolution ones.

You shouldn't do that...I think that some of the available rendering patches can cause the problems you have described. Reinstall the game according to install instructions and try again.
Before that and for quick testing, disable manually all rendering patches and see what will happen. Waiting for your reply...:salute:

I have the same problem leeszaj describes a few sites ago: when I use the Stadimeter (locking button is red) all my TDC settings are reseting to zero. Any ideas where the problem is? leeszaj downloaded Version 2.1.2 to solve the problem but I can't find an 2.1.2 installer.

Using:
Vanilla WoS 2.2.5
Uplay Version of SH5
Windows 10

Your OFEV config file should be automatically configured during the mod installation...
You only have to open TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py file, edit it and save...

Any error messages during TWoS installation?

by the way. when installing again right now it tells me that the .NET Framework 4 can`t be installed since it is already part of win 10 or a higher version is installed already.

just small update. after two installs it works fine now.
My mistake was that after the game was downloaded from uplay, I didn`t start the game first. That resulted that some files haven`t been installed and caused the crash. Now everything works fine.

Only the manual TDC against fast warships is driving me crazy. :-) but friendly airplanes took care of them.

- Reduced appearance of Brazilian merchant ships in allied convoys in order to avoid player's unnecessary penalty points for neutral kills.
- Fixed "Panama_T" group, Norwegian merchant replaced with Panamanian.
- Revised and tested scripted historical events and units transfers.
- Reduced UnderwaterDispMap effect (light refraction).
- Several minor "under the hull" tweaks and fixes.

In order to verify your installation process, make sure to launch stock v1.2.0 game at least once
before you install TWoS megamod.

I like vinyls because of this, while i still dont like DVDs because they can brake. Steam game is forever. :)

Tried running it as admin, tried different compatibilities, tried cleaning up the cfg files, but uplay always downloads the damn cloud saves for some reason even when I unclick that crap.

Still cant click and remove those questions. I can click on them but nothing happens when I click.

Did you apply administration rights directly in SH5.exe? If not , try that...

Yes I did that, tried it different ways.

Perform a full uninstall and clean out all registry files using an appropriate programme such as CrapCleaner (it is free here) https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download then install again.

Yes...You can try to open original TWoS "data\UserCharts\***.TDW" files with some text editor and translate them manually.

What you're looking for are charts from "Maps & Map Tools" category...:yep:

Make a gamesave and upload it. I'll test what's going on...
Or you can enable highlighted sensor zones options in map settings and see what, how or is it detected at all...

Hi,

I am new to silent hunter 5. I installed WoS without any problems. I started to play the tutorials. I am facing a problem now in the "The Wolves of Steel Mod Speed Finder Tutorial"

Everything is working just the detected target speed is wrong. Seems like i am getting allways 10x the speed the target is actually moving?!? I get allways a speed of 60 - 66 knots. It should be 6 knots. Maybe someone knows what causes this problem?

I use a clean isntall (1.20) only WoS installed.

I tried to follow this this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li2LdUGmgps&t=407s) tutorial play on youtube. Everything is comparable except the calculated speed.

maybe someone can point me in the right direction how to fix this.

Forgot to mention its not a tutorial problem. I tried historical battles and campange mode. The speed caculation is wrong in theese modes too.
