I'm glad you liked it, August. Herb Alpert is awesome. My grand dad and dad had all of these albums. My dad also really liked the " surf " sounds of the Ventures and Richard Anthony Monsour, better know as Dick Dale. Duane Eddy Carl Perkins. These were times when Herb Alpert and other artists of their generation were just that, real artists who could play real instruments and play them well.

My Grand father and Dad weren't frivolous with money but they both insisted on good Hi-Fi audio equipment back then. Today, I'm the same way. My dad even built his own speaker cabinets and fitted it with the drivers / speakers that he felt gave him the best sound. My siblings and I got the full benefit of that. :yep:

I also liked the album cover of Herb Alpert's, Taste of Honey. I remember staring at that cover for long periods of time when I was a young kid. It might explain why I also love whipped cream and, um, never mind.... :D:yep:

Here is something a little bit different. John Paul Jones, bassist extraordinaire of Led Zeppelin accompanies various artists from the U.S and around the world on their renditions of " When the levee breaks." Derek Trucks on slide guitar even makes an appearance.

I think that John Paul Jones guy on bass guitar is pretty good. He should join a band. He might make it big. :03: :yep:

This is the version of Voodoo Child - here titled Voodoo Chile - that covered an entire LP side on the original vinyl release; it was recorded live, in a recording studio, with a small audience of friends and hangers-on in attendance; Jimi loved to jam in the studio and, very often, notable artists would join in for the opportunity to play with Hendrix; on this recording, besides Jimi, his JHE drummer Mitch Mitchell, Steve Winwood of Traffic (on organ), and Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane (on bass) joined together to jam as a quartet on a number Hendrix was working on at the time and Jimi decided to do the take as a slow Blues instead of the faster versions he had done various takes of earlier; the result is a record of four great musicians at their prime having a great time reveling in each others' talents and producing one of the best examples of Hendrix jamming; the recording is totally live with only the left-right channel switching added later in the mixing by Jimi...

Again, this may not be up long, as with anything Hendrix, so enjoy it while you can...

Hiram was an original member of the Paul Shaffer band on Late Night with David LettermanHiram could literally play any style of music or guitar that you wanted or liked but his real forte was Jazz and Blues.
