The Regrettes have been in the LA music scene for quite some time now and are way better than a lot of the other local acts; they have great live shows and are accomplished musicians; I am particularly impressed by the lead guitar player who handles that Tele (nearly as big as she is) with a skill that would put a lot of her male counterparts to shame...
This is a cover of Sweet's Fox On The Run performed live by The Regrettes as part of the AV Club's series of bands performing covers of songs from a list of 25 possibilities...

"In the Year 2525" is a 1968 hit song by the American pop-rock duo of Zager and Evans. It reached number one on the
Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks commencing July 12, 1969.
It peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in August and September that year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjFtDkFkuP4
Lyrics
In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today
In the year 4545
You ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you
In the year 5555
Your arms hangin' limp at your sides
Your legs got nothin' to do
Some machine's doin' that for you
In the year 6565
You won't need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube
In the year 7510
If God's a-coming, He oughta make it by then
Maybe He'll look around Himself and say
Guess it's time for the judgment day
In the year 8510
God is gonna shake His mighty head
He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been
Or tear it down, and start again
In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing
Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what, he never knew
Now man's reign is through
But through eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday

Lyrics:
Up to mighty London came
An Irish man one day,
All the streets were paved with gold,
So everyone was gay!
Singing songs of Piccadilly,
Strand, and Leicester Square,
'Til Paddy got excited and
He shouted to them there:
It's a long way to Tipperary,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Tipperary
To the sweetest girl I know!
Goodbye Piccadilly,
Farewell Leicester Square!
It's a long long way to Tipperary,
But my heart's right there.
Paddy wrote a letter
To his Irish Molly O',
Saying, "Should you not receive it,
Write and let me know!
If I make mistakes in "spelling",
Molly dear", said he,
"Remember it's the pen, that's bad,
Don't lay the blame on me".
It's a long way to Tipperary,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Tipperary
To the sweetest girl I know!
Goodbye Piccadilly,
Farewell Leicester Square,
It's a long long way to Tipperary,
But my heart's right there.
Molly wrote a neat reply
To Irish Paddy O',
Saying, "Mike Maloney wants
To marry me, and so
Leave the Strand and Piccadilly,
Or you'll be to blame,
For love has fairly drove me silly,
Hoping you're the same!"
It's a long way to Tipperary,
It's a long way to go.
It's a long way to Tipperary
To the sweetest girl I know!
Goodbye Piccadilly,
Farewell Leicester Square,
It's a long long way to Tipperary,
But my heart's right there.
Extra wartime verse
That's the wrong way to tickle Mary,
That's the wrong way to kiss!
Don't you know that over here, lad,
They like it best like this!
Hooray pour le Francais!
Farewell, Angleterre!
We didn't know the way to tickle Mary,
But we learned how, over there!
This is for the people who don't know it, the more experienced subsimers would know this by heart!

"You play like a girl" may no longer be an insult...
This is Eva Kourtes from Australia who plays blues guitar par excellence; this clip is for a few years ago when she was just 16 years old...
Young heart, old soul...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrlCyFVtFLE
She has expanded as a teacher, film composer and performs live sets with blues bands; there are a couple of clips on YT where shes playing with all-male accompaniment, including a second guitarist who just seems to be comping chords behind her; not much else you can do when sharing a stage with a truly great guitarist like Eva...

A question for vienna....The B52s completely changed their style and "direction" with Ricky Wilson's death. Him and Kate were the backbone of the group. He used unconventional tuning. mixing the strings, and even leaving some out.
I'm no guitarist, but I think he's great.

This is a tribute to the crew of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald which was a Great Lakes Freighter that sank in a gale on November 10, 1975.
She was 15 miles out of the safety of Whitefish Bay. Such a sad song. All 29 crew members lost their lives.
I went to Whitefish Point and saw the naval museum there. I'm a big nerd on the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Point is, she never should've been out there.

I'm no guitarist, but I think he's great.
What's "the word on the street?" How good was he ???
Ricky Wilson was very good, but even he didn't know why; I recall an article in one of the guitar magazines at the time The B52s broke big and Ricky was first noticed; he was asked about his playing style and tunings and he honestly could not explain how he got his sound; he apparently had a habit of randomly tuning his guitar to suit whatever he wanted to play, so he didn't really keep track of his tunings in a formal manner; remember, he learned to play guitar from a TV series on folk guitar when he was a kid, so he had no formal education nor knowledge of standard notations and probably didn't have much use for 'tab' notation. His lack of ability to 'explain' his playing style is not that unusual; a lot of self-taught musicians developed what more formally trained musicians would consider 'off-beat' or even 'wrong' playing styles because their playing abilities and approach to music evolved in a more organic, rather than studied, framework: it sounded good, it was playable to their needs, and, as Wes Montgomery said when asked how he developed his octave playing style, nobody told them "it was wrong"...
Ricky Wilson is respected for his playing abilities, but he isn't as revered as some other players because the mechanics of his playing were so out of the norm; this is something not that unusual; for example, Stevie Ray Vaughn's guitars were setup in a manner other players found to be unplayable; Nile Rodgers of Chic, and a well known record producer and no slouch as a guitarist in his own right, described how, while working with SRV in the studio, he picked up Stevie's guitar and tried to play it and found it unmanageable (conversely, SRV tried one of Nile's guitars and promptly broke a couple of the strings due to his playing style, for which SRV apologized profusely, but Nile actually felt a bit honored SRV had tried his guitar at all); for some guitarists, it is a blend of guitar, technique and technology that sets apart their sound; U2's The Edge uses guitars set up in particular ways, uses open and alternate tunings, and, obviously uses a lot of gear to get his unique sound; there is story of how Ted Nugent got a taste of The Edge's approach when he tried to use one of The Edge's guitars; Nugent and U2 were on the same bill for a musical event and Nugent went up to U2's stage setup after the band had completed a soundcheck and had left the statge; he picked up The Edge's guitar, fired up the amps, and started to try to play, only to produce a horrendous sound; the guitar was tuned in way unfamiliar to Nugent and was set up in a way he couldn't master; he tried but couldn't get it to work; he looked up to see The Edge's guitar tech looking at him with a broad smile on his face; the tech said "Don't feel bad, mate; I've worked with him for years and I still don't really know how he does what he does"...
So, Ricky Wilson played guitars that were unplayable, in tunings even he couldn't explain or describe, and he used techniques other guitarists couldn't follow; sounds about right for an original. And, yes, the B52s did change style and direction after Ricky passed away, but they had no choice: nobody else could play the way Ricky did; if you listen to live B52s recordings after Ricky, they sound off because the feel, tone and style Ricky had are missing. For a reference point, imagine what U2 would sound like if The Edge left the group and another, less gifted, guitarist took his place...
Ricky Wilson jammed with several bands in his very brief career, but he only recorded one track with artists other than the B52s; I thought he had played with Richard Hell, and I thought it was with Hell's band The Voidoids; it turns out Ricky actually played with Tom Verlaine, who had just left the band Television, of which Hell was a member, so I had the right basic idea, but the wrong group/artist:

Thanks vienna. I'm sure Ricky's smiling as he reads that on "the other side".

Sadly, I find that most singers go out in such untimely and terrible matters.
We have lost many good, wait no, amazing singers to terrible matters.
Like Freddie Mercury.
My favorite song of his is this:

@ Catfish.
The B52s first album was groundbreaking and very original. A lot of people sat up and took notice of them.
Everything after that I never really got into, with one or two exceptions, "Roam" being one. Kate Pierson's soaring vocals still thrill me.
There used to a guy called Ambrose, he had a youtube channel dedicated to the B52s ( he was a big fan ). On his channel he had a lot of music videos he'd made himself. Really good clever stuff. But it's not there anymore - a damn shame.

This is a travel video with music, but not only is the music cool so is the trip around the Island of American Samoa,
which has not recorded a single case of the virus Covid-19 just like 103 years ago during the Spanish Flue epidemic.
Samoa was one of the few places that did not lose anyone to the flu. The natural harbor Pago Pago is one of the best in the South Pacific Ocean basin.
Enjoy ... PS it is American protected in case you want to consider relocating :yep:

Indeed...
When I first saw her clip of Fly Me To The Moon listed in the far right hand side of a YT screen, I clicked on it out of curiosity, but was very surprised by how really good a guitarist MiuMiu is at six years of age; I was fascinated by her hands and the precision she has accomplished; her fine motor skills are way beyond her peers who are probably still struggling to stay inside the lines in their coloring books; she plays so cleanly and precisely and her ability with barre chords at such a young age is impressive; in one of her videos, a commenter speculated someone off camera was supplying the tremolo picking parts in her song, yet, if you look closely at her right hand, you can see her ring and little fingers making very subtle movement to achieve the sound, something even a lot of adult players struggle to master...
She has even had her videos used for collaborations with other musicians who play along as accompaniment with her original postings. The results are very often surprisingly good, although, sometimes, the accompanists overwhelm her vocals...
Now for something to show MiuMiu can handle an electric guitar as well as an acoustic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdq3mrtF-jI
If you want to see how truly impressive her performance is, here is a clip of the number played by the original artist as a comparison:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QadSVWXF_ks
At her core she is still just a little six year old girl; there is an interview clip of her on her YT site and in it she says she has ambitions beyond guitar:
"But I still want to be a doctor, because I want to protect my family, I don't want to lose my grandparents, mom and dad, I want them to live well"
I hope she also lives well and long, and has all her dreams come true...

Being shot had a profound effect on Mr Warhol. He was never the same man again. The scarring both physically and emotionally left him permanently shaken. And distrustful.
The nutcase that shot him and his associate got off VERY lightly ( the times we live in ).
Being shot is not like in the movies. I still suffer from complications of being shot in the throat in the '60s. It leaves you permanently damaged.
Enough.
Andy Warhol contributed a lot to the Pop Culture of the World, and he certainly suffered for it.

I had seen this video and thought I would share it with everyone. I have no idea how old these kids are but they are young. They decided to get together and play a RUSH classic. How cool is this ???? The young girl singing vocals does a fantastic job. All I can say is wow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKPYPK5luRQ
These kids also decided to do something else a " little less Challenging." How about another classic like Black Dog from Led Zeppplein. They are all incredibly talents from the lead guitar playing, the young lady playing bass and the other young guy playing drums. Picking 2 incredible drummers like John Bonham of Zepplein and Neil Peart to follow and doing a credible job is incredible.

Barry Humphries ( Dame Edna's twin brother ) had a Cabaret show - heavily themed on Weimar/pre Nazi Germany - she was a big part of it, but was VERY overshadowed by Humphries ( the elephant in the room ). So she branched out and is doing "real good". :)

Benito's granddaughter gets regularly trolled by various unfunny "celebrities" and the usual PC crowd, which is unfair because she's basically a good person, but with an infamous grandfather.
In her younger years she put out a few records, nothing earthshaking, but was popular in Asia, notably Japan.
I hope people give her a break, she doesn't deserve the BS she gets.
P.S. The music video was not of her making, and this is a Military themed Forum, and it's not a bad song.

A while back, there was a question about Ricky Wilson of the B-52s and his unique guitar style(s) and it got me to thinking about another group whose guitarists also were heavily into open/alternate tunings and physically altering their guitars to achieve specific sounds; we're not talking just hot-rodding with different pickups, bridges, etc., we're talking about hacking into the guitars in all aspects including literally hacking a guitar, physically...
Sonic Youth was one of the great bands to come out of the 80s and the two guitarists, Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo, along with bassist Kim Gordon, redefined electric guitar playing and influenced bands and guitarists who followed after; Moore and Ranaldo started Sonic Youth without very much funding so had to make do with very cheap gear including very cheap guitars, some of which were scavenged pawn shop bargain bin instruments; they has to rebuild/repair a lot of their early instruments and, along the way, developed a flair for adapting the guitars to suit whatever sound they were seeking; much like Ricky Wilson, they took to removing strings in odd configurations, using odd gauges of strings, inserting bits and pieces of other material into and onto the guitars to change the tonal qualities; when a guitar wouldn't stay in tune, they simply devised an alternate tuning to fit the dissonance; later, when they achieved some fame and began touring, they would take loads of guitars with them because some of the guitars actually were only usable for certain single songs in their sets; when Glenn Branca formed his own record label, Sonic Youth was the first band he signed...
This is probably Sonic Youth's best known or widely heard song; singing is Kim Gordon, arguably the best looking bass player in rock (no offense, Steve :D ); incidentally Kim produced Courtney Love's band Hole's first album ...

I have heard many renditions of this song including from Frank Sinatra himself. This is by far the best rendition, in my humble opinion. No one did this song as well as Ella Fitzgerald. This song is by Ira and George Gershwin.

You can walk into any pub in the U.S and if there is a Juke Box, it will have Patsy Cline music in it. Patsy was a great singer and left well before her time. I think Patsy was the greatest female country music vocalist. No one even come close in my humble opinion.
