@JimBuna i never was a Madonna fan, "but she sure has talent" :D
»Wondrous stories« is one of the best harmonic tunes i know, Yes has made so completely different songs, unbeliveable diversity. Still have the vinyl LP records, but no system to play it on right now :-? Ok there is YouTube, but i do not have an adequate speaker and amplifier system connected to the PC.

For those of you who have an appreciation of the musical road less traveled, this article appeared in The Los Angeles Weekly this past week. It tells of a near mythical discography of songs and performers who are on the outer fringes of the musical realm entitled the "Nurse With Wound" list. A friend of mine had told me about his obsession with the list a couple of decades ago, but, at the time, I didn't really have much interest in looking it up; apparently I have missed a great deal, although, after looking over the list either own or have heard a good number of the entries:

Nice collection Vienna. I didn't know prince covered Jimi Hendrix's " Red House "
Neither did I; I was just looking for some videos showing a greater variety and depth than most of the general population associates with Prince. There are a lot of other videos on YouTube showing just how varied his talent and his approach to music really was; and you gotta respect his choice of backing musicians - next to James Brown and Miles Davis, he was probably the most demanding of his bands and their talents. Speaking of James Brown, the fellow playing sax with Prince is none other than the legendary Maceo Parker who played in Brown's bands and, later with Parliament-Funkadelic, among others:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maceo_Parker#Discography
Also, in the Crimson and Clover video, the dancer is Misty Copeland, the first African-American dancer to be named Principal Dancer in the history of THe American Ballet Theater. Her association with Prince brought her attention beyond the world of ballet:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misty_Copeland
In March 2009, Copeland spent two days in Los Angeles filming a music video with Prince for a cover of "Crimson and Clover", the first single from his 2009 studio album Lotusflower. Prince asked her to dance along to the song in unchoreographed ballet movements. She described his instructions as "Be you, feel the music, just move", and upon request for further instruction, "Keep doing what you're doing". She also began taking acting lessons in 2009. During the New York City and New Jersey portions of Prince's Welcome 2 America tour, Copeland performed a pas de deux en pointe to his song "The Beautiful Ones", the opening number at the Izod Center and Madison Square Garden. Prince had previously invited her onstage at a concert in Nice, France. In April 2011, she performed alongside Prince on the Lopez Tonight show, dancing to "The Beautiful Ones."

I like how much history you interject into your musical introductions and links, Vienna. You mentioned Miles Davis, one of the most influential Jazz musicians in recorded history. Miles had played with a number of great musicians including Tommy Porter, Charlie Parker, Duke Jordan and Max Roach, among others.
One of my favorites that played with Miles Davis on tour was none other than Kenny G. Kenny's playing style is called smooth Jazz and is great listening if you like Jazz and want to relax . Great guy too in addition to being a great Alto, Soprano, and Tenor saxophone Player.
One of my favorites or should I say a couple.

Hate to say it but I'm not a big fan of Kenny G or smooth jazz; we had a great, legendary FM rock station here in Los Angeles (KMET-FM) and the new management decided to change format to smooth jazz; perhaps that is the reason I have a sort of antipathy towards the genre...
I do like other forms of jazz and I am a great admirer of Miles Davis, who, by the way, was a big fan of Prince, as he was also a big admirer of Jimi Hendrix; Miles went to Jimi's funeral in Seattle, but was so overcome with grief he couldn't bring himself to leave his car and go to the gravesite; I guess he didn't want the world to see 'big, bad' Miles Davis crying. Davis described Prince as combining Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, and Charlie Chaplin. Matt Sorum, drummer of Gun & Roses, was on Steve Jones radio show and told of seeing Prince backstage at Coachella just before Prince was to perform. Sorum said Prince gathered his musicians in a circle and started to give them very detailed instructions as to changes he had made to the set list and how the songs were to be played. I wonder if Prince imposed fines for errors as Davis and Brown did on their musicians...
Regarding the history aspect, I learned a long time ago in music, as in so many other aspects of life and life skills, it is very often very beneficial to look behind where the current talent is and seek the source of the art. A good many of the truly great musicians will gladly cite their influences and give credit where credit is due; the Beatles and Stones, Clapton, Vaughn and others were/are very big on giving credit. It is very annoying when some "big star" whose talent is a bit of a rip of others influence strut about as if they and their "talent" were made of whole cloth. Sometimes, though, the fault is not entirely their own: I once saw an early film clip of Elvis at a news conference just after he broke big; at one point, a reporter asked Elvis about his musical influences and he responded by citing blues artists Arthur Crudup and Bill Broonzy; as Elvis was continuing to cite more Black artists, his manager, Tom Parker, hurriedly interrupted and shut down the press conference as Elvis looked bewildered and confused as to why Parker acted; whether the motive was to preserve the image of Elvis as an 'original artist' or whether the action was taken to disassociate Elvis with what was then still regarded as race music will never really be known...

It's all good Vienna. We all have our different tastes in music and Jazz isn't for everyone. I have seen Kenny G play a number of times and find his music relaxing. In addition to being a great Sax player, Kenny G is an accomplished golf player as well. My own tastes run the gamut from classical music, through straight up rock and roll from the 50's to the 90's, Jazz and blues and R&B.

It's all good Vienna. We all have our different tastes in music and Jazz isn't for everyone. ...
I, also, have very broad tastes in music and am always on the lookout for the odd bit of interesting musicality, regardless of the genre. I very much like jazz, but in the manner of Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, and others of the sort. Smooth jazz just, as far as I have heard of it, somehow seems like an extension of Muzak or, as a co-worker once called it "dentist office music"; I assume it must be an acquired taste I have yet to acquire. There is, among hardcore jazz aficionados, a disdain of smooth jazz roughly equivalent to hardcore rock fans' disdain of boy bands and light pop-rock music. It may not necessarily be altogether fair, but it does exist. Overall, I cannot fault the musicianship, but I don't find it challenging; this is also something that plagues hard jazz: there are a lot of technically brilliant musicians in smooth jazz, but there is no"substance", no soul. An analog in the rock/blues realm would be a comparison of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Yngwie Malmsteen: both are/were technically brilliant, but one played with soul and emotion and the other's playing was more of an exhibition speed and technique; both have fervent fans who are seeking very different experiences...

Okay Vienna, this is for you. Let's try Wes Montgomery. Wes is widely recognized as the father of " Octave " guitar playing in the Jazz style. Guitar players here would know that this is playing the same note, but on different strings simultaneously. There are many musicians who use this style such as George Benson and Eric Johnson and Chet Atkins used something of a variation of that called " String Skipping "
Wes and the others I mentioned are great Jazz guitar players.

~ Enjoy ~
Well familiar with all of the, although I do feel Eric Johnson missed out when he went for Guitar Hero status and seemed to lose the beginnings of true soul he had once; but, then again, I really haven't heard any of his recent product, so, perhaps, age has tempered his course...
Wes Montgomery is a very big favorite of mine; I thought it was rather criminal when the record companies, thinking they knew better, foisted off mundane horn and string backings and arrangements on his recordings. The best Montgomery was always the pure Montgomery in simple combo groups. I once read an article where a reporter/critic interviewed Wes and asked him how and why he developed his signature octave style. The reporter said Wes got a little embarrassed and said 'Well, I just started out playing that way and no one ever told me it was wrong'; I'm surprised some record company producer didn't try to "correct" Wes and I'm glad no one else ever tried; some times the best right is the best wrong...
Sadly, Lonnie Mack passed away less than three weeks ago. The list of guitarists and others Lonnie Mack influenced is very, very long, indeed. He was another case of an artist whose influence far exceeded his fame in the public mind. Truly a great musician and who else can lay claim to having the guitar "Whammy Bar" named after him and his playing style? RIP, Lonnie, go find Stevie and have a play...

There are only half a dozen - if that many - pieces of music that have such a strong, intense emotional impact on me like this one. Well-known, a classic if you want to call it like that - but the whole soundtrack set a standard and redefined the genre, like the movie did, too. To say that after these 30 years this music feels like a part of my own life, biography, personality, is not exaggerated. Vangelis outdid himself with this soundtrack album.

There was a local news report about the remaining members of Led Zeppelin coming to Los Angeles to appear in a plagiarism lawsuit involving the lifting of the riffs for "Stairway To Heaven" from an earlier song by the group Spirit. This brought to mind the host of other lifts LZ did during their time. We've all heard "I Can't Quit You Baby"; here is the original by the original, live:
Otis Rush - I Can't Quit You Baby
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy2tEP3I3DM
Speaking of great singers and guitarists, here is a man who influenced so, so many guitarists:
T-Bone Walker - Don't Throw Your Love On Me So Strong
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1xvx0UHa0A
T-Bone Walker - Hey, Baby
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eriK3nD4bQ
T-Bone with one of his 'students', B. B. King:
T-Bone Walker & B. B. King - Sweet Sixteen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0q_EEugHw8
One of the T-Bone clips has Willie Dixon playing bass in the backup band, but he also co-wrote a song LZ 'borrowed':
Willie Dixon - You Shook Me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS2nVWmYTqc
I have a fondness for Willie Dixon because he used to be a guest very frequently on a local NPR blues show. He had an astonishing memory and could give the names of all the musicians and the sessions in which he participated while at Chess Records. Given that Willie was pretty much the chief songwriter, session bass player, arranger and general go-to guy for Chess, he had a lot of memories to retell. One of my favorites was how he had taken a song he had written to Howlin' Wolf, a very large, very short-tempered, and very intimidating man, and Wolf looked over the song, grunted out his dissatisfaction, and tossed the song sheet back at Willie. Willie smoothed out the paper and said, quietly, "Well, I'll give it to Muddy (Waters, an often rival of the Wolf)". Wolf immediately rose up, grabbed the song sheet from Willie growling, "If Muddy wants it, he can't have it! I'm doing this song!"...
Willie said, thereafter, when he wanted Wolf to record a song Wolf didn't want to do, he used the same ploy; Wolf never caught on...

My childhood mate had the first LP (kids now look at those letters and wonder :har:) and we used to listen to that record so many times I knew most of the songs by heart for years later. Lucky to find An Evening Wasted... much later, 2nd press I believe but it doesn't matter. Pure genius.

One of the real cool things, I think was he focused on teaching maths among other things after leaving the touring business. Only in recent years did I learn about his songwriting for Electric Company.
The Tom Lehrer post brought to mind the period in my youth of the late 50s and early 60s when there were a lot of novelty records on the radio charts. Some of them are classics in their own right:

That one! Surely one of the most bizarre recorded songs I ever heard. Weirdly enough it was covered by the band LARD but even weirder, on that album it did actually work, bizarre as it was.

If you really want to hear weird, the flip side of the single was the same song...backwards!...
Kim Fowley was also reputed to have done the lead vocal on "Alley Oop". I used to work at a rock club in the early to mid 70s and Fowley was a friend of one of the owners and a very regular customer. I asked him if he really did the vocal, but he became very evasive. He was a rather weird guy and was known to be a bit on the violent side, so I didn't press the question. Incidentally, The Hollywood Argyles were really never a group, but just an assemblage of studio musicians and record company types; the name Hollywood Argyles comes from the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Argyle St., in central Hollywood, and was the location of one of Capitol Records outpost recording facilities; the famed Capitol Record Tower and main recording facilities were a block up and a block over from Hollywood and Argyle...
EDIT:
I found the B side on YouTube (Note the backwards Label):

Florence Foster Jenkins, King Uszniewicz & His Uszniewicztones, 3 albums of the Wavy Gravy series, Incredibly Strange Music collection cassette, Real Gone Garbage collection LP, trying to track down the notorious recordings of Portsmouth Sinfonia but little luck so far.
Florence though, she is definitely in a category literally of her own. I must admire her steelfaced pianist who managed to surpress his horror and laughter.
It is rather horrible if you are not in the mood and are unprepared but hysterically funny if you are up for vocal disasters.

Having been born and raised in San Francisco, I've heard that song so many times, you'd think I would be tired if it, but every time I hear it, it still brings up a lot of memories. The line about "little cable cars climb halfway to the stars" always reminds me of when I was small child and would watch in wonder from the bottom up a long steep hill as the cable cars would slowly roll up to the top and disappear over the crest. Some cities may have songs touting themselves, but few are as beautiful as this song. The song itself has a rather interesting story:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Left_My_Heart_in_San_Francisco
I had always thought the song was fairly old, but I find I am actually older than the composition, although the song is in better shape and vastly more popular... :D

Victor Borge was so immensely talented, he defied easy description. One of the great joys of growing up in the 50s and 60s was being able to see Borge on a lot of live TV programs and watch as he took on anything and everything in the world of music, stand it on its head, and make it all his own. He is very much missed and I doubt, in this age of corporate media-oriented entertainment, we shall ever soon see someone like him again. Thanks for the reminder of how much of a true genius he was...

You'd be surprised Jim; Golden Earring and the song "Radar Love" were and are very well known here in Los Angeles and, I suspect, a lot of other areas of the States. That song was heavily played when it came out and still gets played very often on the radio, although the number of stations playing that brand of rock is near nil as the years go on. That's one of the reasons efforts like this thread are so needed to keep alive the songs and performers of the past and to bring out new acts to wider attention...

Jollity Farm!! I am a huge fan of the Bonzos and have been ever since I bought their first album as an import decades ago. It is part of my measurement of good girl friend material: if they can appreciate the Marx Bros., early Woody Allen films, Lewis Carroll, Looney Tunes, and the Bonzos, then they are worth a go. My first ex was particularly taken with the Bonzos; in fact, she was so taken, she took my Bonzo albums when we split; fortunately, I was able to get replacements (for both the albums and her)...
One of her favorite songs was "Look Out There's A Monster Coming!". The Scots actor-comedian Craig Ferguson had a late night show on US TV and would occasionally open the show with a lip sync-mime rendition of songs he particularly liked. Here is his production of "Look Out There's A Monster Coming!":

Really, really like the horn section!...
This is a BBC documentary on the leading force behind the Bonzos, Viv Stanshall:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP987mljouI
I have mentioned before during the mid to late 70s I worked in a Rock club in Hollywood. One of my positions there was as a DJ. The club was all ages and there were quite a few of the teen set and they were mad for glam rock (see, you aren't the only one, Jim) and they were particularly keen on one particular song, wanting it played over and over again. It got to the point where I either hide or discard the single; the little buggers would just go down the street to the 24 hour music store and buy another copy for the club. To this day, I do believe that store owes me some sort of royalty for all the additional business. I heard this song so many times, I got very sick of it and it took many, many years before I could bear to hear it in its entirety...
The Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_jdiU47bFA
When I have told others over the years about the whole "Ballroom Blitz" incident, some have said I was unnecessarily cruel to try to deprive the kids of their music; I claim it was justifiable discocide. If I should ever acquiesce to allowing a funeral upon my demise, I will want this song played, and in this version, preferably with the showing of the accompanying video :D :

As for 'Glam Rock', the video often accompanying that Sweet thing used to make my flesh crawl. I was instead big into Roxy Music back then and this was a favourite track:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYku30JRS4E
This song was written By David as a very moving tribute to Richard Wright who was one of the founding members and a long time keyboardist of Pink Floyd who passed away Sep 15, 2008 at the age of 65. David had said in interviews that Richard loved the water and of course, boats.
Rest in Peace Richard

Nico, the muse; the very definition of 'elegantly wasted'. Loved her ever since her days with the Velvet Underground. There is a rather good documentary of her life titled "Nico/Icon". I found a DVD copy of it in a little video store many years ago; here is a link to a YouTube post of the film:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1vkiQdEU7M
When I think of Nico, I also think of Marianne Faithfull, another of the 60s muses. She went through a lot in her life, much like Nico, and, like Nico, she was able to translate her life into art. Here is a clip of her explaining and singing a song she wrote about her experiences with heroin:
Marianne Faithfull - Sister Morphine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q712oEHjlVA
Her later career has been as a sort of cabaret singer and she has a repertoire of some very haunting songs. This clip is for a song that is very, very moving, both in content and delivery:

I heard this when it first came out and was mesmerized by the whole production of it; more remarkable is the fact this song, so opaque and unlike other songs at the time, actually got to the #2 spot on the radio and record sales charts; perhaps it was the harbinger for some of the darker songs to come in the 60s and 70s:

This appears to be an outtake from a TV performance Bowie did especially for the the late night weekly US live music show "Midnight Special" back in 1973. The show was taped at the Marquee Club in London; at the time, I recall there were people organizing viewing parties around town here in LA. The taping at the Marquee was made difficult by the fact the club, itself, was not very large and Bowie's theatrics tended to be of a larger scale. The show corresponds to about the "Pin Ups" period of Bowie's career. I always remember this show for the song "Sorrow"; the line "with your long blonde hair and your eyes of blue" reminds me of my first ex, from whom, at the time, I was in the process of divorcing...
It is really good to see Bowie performing with Mick Ronson, his fellow Spider. There are several versions of the compete show on YouTube, most of horrific quality; this is the best I could find:

I doubt Weird Al was able to get the same person for his video (probably a look-a-like), but in the original Dylan video, the bearded fellow in the background in the shawl is none other than the famed Beat poet Allen Ginsberg (my first ex pointed that out to me)...
About 12 years ago, I was working at an office and some of us got into a conversation about music lyrics and I recited the lyrics to "Subterranean Homesick Blues" (my memory was much better then) and when I had finished, a young African-American guy, about 21-22 years old, said "Wow, who wrote that? That guy can really rap!" Imagine his surprise when I told him that bad ass rapper was Dylan...

I posted some Kurt Weill on the previous incarnation of this thread, sung by Lotte Lenya and, more recently, Ute Lemper:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2359743&postcount=41
Always in search of the esoteric, it didn't take me long to discover Die Dreigroschenoper... "The Threepenny Opera"... Brecht and Weill, and, unaccountably, find this stuff (even as a 20 year-old) compelling in a way that was somehow similar to the appeal of the Velvet Underground. Now I see why.
Another prized CD is from Columbia Records 'Masterworks', featuring Lenya singing a whole raft of Theatre songs by Weill, Paul Dessau, John Kander and Hanns Eisler.
http://i.imgur.com/cgLjdAZ.jpg
I'm also a big fan of Ute Lemper; I have quite a few of her recordings and a number of the videos she released in the past. I first heard of her on a 24 hour satellite TV network, Classic Arts Showcase, a local PBS station, KCET, here in Los Angeles broadcasts in the wee hours of the night, usually from about 2:00 AM to about 5:00 AM. Some years ago, as a cost cutting measure, KCET cancelled the overnight broadcast and suffered a very severe push back from the viewers; KCET grossly underestimated how popular the program was and, since the station depends on contributions from the viewers, faced a big hit to their revenue; needless to say, they reversed their decision. Classic Arts Showcase isn't just about classical music; they feature clips from rare and classic films from around the world, experimental films and music from all eras, and some just very interesting oddities and whimsies. The network was created and funded by a philanthropist who wanted to bring the best in music, art, film, and performance to the viewing public for free. I just now revisited their website and found they now offer their programming streaming over the Net, again, for free. For those of you who may be curious, here is a link:

An additional Velvet Underground muse came to mind: Edie Sedgwick. She was also a muse for Andy Warhol and others in the New York underground scene. She was very beautiful and frail and deeply flawed. The Velvet's song Femme Fatale was reportedly written about Edie; many years later, she was the subject of The Cult's song Edie (Ciao Baby). She had a very tragic life, from the time she was born to the day of her death...

It's been a bit of a boring day (the voices in my head are snoring) and I was listening to Steve Jones on the radio and he brought up a name from the past: Screaming Lord Sutch. I had heard of Lord Sutch back in the early 70s from one of the owners of the rock club where i was employed at the time. Lord Sutch was a musician from the early 60s who went on to be one of those artists who influenced other more notable artists; he was also an erstwhile politican who ran for Parliament several times, never winning; I recall he held the all time record for the most unsuccessful campaigns. He was sort of a "horror-rock" performer; here he is with his all time hit single, both on record and live:

Being reminded about Lord Sutch also brought to mind another performer and his group who also were given to theatrics, but were very good musicians: The Sensational Alex Harvey Band:

Lord Sutch... I was never sure why he put his (top) hat in at elections; it seemed to be just a pisstake because he and we knew that the TV and radio interviewers were obligated to interview him along with all the other 'serious' candidates. And he was always there in that hat, waiting his turn to just say... just what did he say? :haha:

This next song is a bit of a mystery. I first heard it back in about '69-,70 when I found an LP for what was presented as the soundtrack for a film titled "Experience". It had a fairly slick, professional cover, but I suspect it was a tricked-up bootleg, one of the very many so common back then. The cover claimed the tracks were recorded at the Royal Albert Hall; in the years since, I have seen many, many different versions of the album and/or its tracks with conflicting gig locations, musician listings, and even differing song titles. As far as I know, no such film was ever made or, if it was, has never seen the light of day. If you listen to the track, there is an apparent lack of audience sounds, leading to suspect the track was, live in studio, not from a concert, or taken live from a soundcheck, perhaps. All I really know is this is Jimi Hendrix and his early take on this song and the jam is really, really, good; I think this version is way better than the sped up, multi-layered 'official' posthumous album version:

There are songs, when you hear them sung by particular artists, that seem to have been written for no one but that particular artist. Jimi Hendrix was fearful of Bob Dylan's reaction to his version of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower; Dylan was so impressed by Hendrix's version, he adopted the arrangement for his live performances. This song is a cover sung by Johnny Cash, a huge favorite of mine. When I first heard it, I realized how perfectly the song and the singer seemed destined; add in the history of Cash's career and the gravitas his voice and style lend to the song, there is no one else who could have done it justice:

Seriously :88)
A few of us in this thread have posted songs by the Bonzo Dog (Doo Dah) Band; there was one person in the Bonzos who is a genius songwriter/parodist whose credits extend through the Bonzos, on to Monty Python, and on to some of the most memorable musical parodies of the past few decades, most notably The Rutles, a send-up of the career of The Beatles. The person referred to is Neil Innes. He was one of the chief songwriters for the Bonzos, the Pythons, and, along with Eric Idle, a main creator of The Rutles...
The Beatles, themselves, were huge fans of the various projects Innes engaged in, starting with the Bonzos. The only major hit the Bonzos ever had was a song written by Innes and produced by Paul McCartney under the pseudonym, Apollo C. Vermouth:
Bonzo Dog Band - I'm The Urban Spaceman:
Promo Film - 1968
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGVwreJNWlk
BBC - 1968
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVr2hbE6aW0
This was a bit of filler by Innes on one of the Bonzo's albums, but has long been a favorite of mine; besides, how many other solo neo-classical harpsichord numbers on a pop or rock album can you name?:
Bonzo Dog Band - Music For The Head Ballet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvFkpldaU7Y
After the Bonzos broke up, Innes went on to work with Monty Python, contributing many musical pieces to the program; Innes and Douglas Adams ("The Hitchhiker's Guide..") are the only two members of the extended Python group to receive individual credit for their works. George Harrison was a huge fan of the Pythons and financed, as a producer, a couple of their films and other projects. Here is George with Innes in a scene from an Eric Idle program:
Neil Innes and George Harrison - Pirate Song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJFLiW10ZrE
Perhaps the most audacious parody of a major musical artist or group was the parody film "The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash", created by Innes and Eric Idle. The film was a flat-out parody of The Beatles and their career, with Innes playing the 'Lennon' part and Idle playing the 'McCartney' role. The film was given backing by Harrison and George even appears in the film as the character of a TV reporter doing an interview. Innes was responsible for the bulk of the songs and got the tone and sound of The Beatles down cold...

The Rutles - Love Life
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXbUYEsEsPU
The Rutles - Get Up & Go

Innes has continued over the years to create musical gems; here is another favorite:
Neil Innes - Blue Suede Schubert
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc76XcVUObY
Innes is one of those musicians who fall in the class of the "best musicians you never heard of"...

One of the many great things about music is finding new and emerging musicians, artists and talent. Music constantly grows, evolves and continually finds new ways of musical expression. Hopefully, this trend will continue and music will again become the art form it once was and real musicianship can once again take center stage. Music today, if one can call it that, resembles little more than a lounge act at a 2nd rate hotel. If you need dancers in your ensemble, then there is something wrong.
Women in rock are well established but pale in comparison, relative to the sheer numbers of their male counterparts. It's always great to see women rock out and if they can shred a guitar-even better.

It's not bad but I would really have to disagree on that one. Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart performed this song at the Kennedy Center honors with the surviving members of Led Zepplein looking on in approval. Robert Plant was brought to tears as well hearing this rendition. Ann and Nancy really did bring down the house on this one.

That's not fair since they wrote and performed the original song. Ok, their rendition is pretty good too :O:
One of the great live performances from what is recognized as one of the supergroups of the 60's and 70's with " Bonzo " on drums.
