It's the Biggin Hill campaign, over at this site which must not be named and yes, IIRC, it does use the BoB map. I loved the training mission and must get round to playing the rest :yeah:

OK I installed the Channel map and read the readme but when I load the Biggin Hill campaign it is the Slovakia map not the new one.

I guess on the finals everyone should just try to get his aircraft down without following instructions too closely. Landing approaches are usually done pretty individually so that my throttle settings might not work for anyone else (also depends on how much you pull your nose up etc.). So just try to keep the same distance and set her down gently no matter what the leading twat yells.:yep:

Been flying for a few weeks. 6 or 7 missions with 7 kills claimed so far. Good bunch of people and good fun in Sicily until we got turfed out.

Well we managed to escape with our 109s relatively itnact - bar a few "accidents" and what the ground chief classes as "dings", although command is looking at sending us back to Germany or Austria for some rest and refitting before being sent out to our new theatre - which we are voting on at the moment from some pretty cool options both Western Front and Eastern Front.

Well we managed to escape with our 109s relatively itnact - bar a few "accidents" and what the ground chief classes as "dings", although command is looking at sending us back to Germany or Austria for some rest and refitting before being sent out to our new theatre - which we are voting on at the moment from some pretty cool options both Western Front and Eastern Front.

Had a play on Heroes of the Pacific this noon, was playing the training mode and came out with a flaming P-40 :rotfl: With damages almost at max (even the tiniest scrape will blow me to pieces). Had several close calls (at which point I was swearing). And here's a screenie XD

I accidentially screencapped on top of the cap I got of the moment my plane went on fire :x It happened when I stalled badly and tried to pull up. Hit the ground but I managed to pull up :o
However my main annoyance with this game is the landings are easy. You just follow a waypoint to the strip and it'd just land the plane for you :stare:
Hope to get IL2 pretty soon too (and a joystick :doh:)

That's what I remember too. IIRC a moderately loaded Harrier would literally blow away the tarmac when taking off vertically. Single-use runways ftw :up:

I read a story in a book the other day called 'Cold War, Hot Wings'.

A RAF Harrier pilot was flying at +/- 250ft at about 400knts or thereabouts when he hit a sparrow, the engine promptly died on him and wouldn't restart, so he banged out. As his chute deployed, he heard a roaring noise and witnessed his aircraft climbing into the sky heading for the Inter-German border :o
The GAF scrambled some F-104s and found the Harrier at about 24000ft doing lazy barrell rolls, unfortunately the F-104s couldn't match the turning circle of the Harrier and thus were unable to shoot it down. Eventually, about 44 minutes later the Harrier ran out of fuel and crashed on the West German side of the border. :sunny:
Turns out that feathers from the sparrow had blocked a sensor for the fuel intake or something similar, the US Harrier had a manual override for the sensor, but the RAF were too cheap to buy it from the start. Needless to say after the Harriers attempt to defect, the RAF coughed up the funds :haha:

27th August 1943 Weisse Mission Over Smolensk.

After a hard days fight we land to count all but two back home, and those that didnt make it we heard from shortly after through a rather drunk phone call from the Ju87 base to our East as the lads landed their due to engine damage whilst defending them on their return journey from a fighter sweep.

As you can see, Both Weisse and Rote are well represented here, plus we had one of the down unders with us, I hear he had to turn his monitor upside down to be able to fly properly with us!

On a side note, the mission we flew straight after this (28th August 43) was very likely MooCow's (Red 6 ) last mission with JG53 before he is deployed to 'Stan for the next 12 months (unless he gets to borrow some of Stan's internet connection by selling some camels ;))

But yet, it's still sad to say, both the F-14 and F/A-18's will be replaced with the Navy's version of the F-35.

It seems like a nice aircraft but it has yet to prove itself and with the F-14 goes the Phoenix Missile. That missile was like having the Longbows radar on steroids, strapped under your wing. It was impressive.

Oh, the ground looks so much better than the Original 16 color IBM PC version. I just did not think it looked that much better than Falcon 4 and certainly not better than current Sims.

Did you drop them using CCRP? I've noticed that at least with laser-guided bombs it's easy to miss by being lax with your CCRP drop and thinking that it's guided anyway :D

I think you hit the nail Yes I dropped them with CCRP and the bombs were somehow dropped a little late than they should and I don't exactly know why....but I expect the GPS on those bombs will make up for it , well they should:nope:

The default targeting mode drops 1 bomb on each target, to maximize total mayhem and destruction, you can manually tell it where to drop each bomb by switching it from AUTO STEP to MAN STEP

Bombing run. Two laser guided bombs armed and laser on, target has been locked. The enemy task force consisted of two frigates. I will have to choose one and let my wingman choose the other. Bombing altitude is 17,000 feet.

Well imo it's actually easy it's the cloud cover I think. You need to pay attention when you need to go high more than 2,000 m to pass a ridge at one time along your first waypoint, after that watch the altitude through the HUD since you would not be able to see anything as you would be flying in the cloud but once past that ridge you could start to descend to 2,000 m or lower, watch the altitude.

There are 3 targets for this mission. 2 Sand bunkers and one concrete bunker.
Can't use the gun nor the rockets, you need to attack these with the Vikhr each one needing a pair of hits.

Once those 3 bunkers taken out the friendly troops with some BTR-80s will start attacking the town. Give fire support with rockets and guns. There are some enemy troops with heavy machine gun in the town and the enemy doesn't have armor, seek them with the IR television do not get too close to them and engage with guns and rockets.

It's a relatively easy mission imo the only thing that you need to take precaution is when passing that ridge. it's mentioned in the briefing :O:

And don't go directly to the airbase when you finish the mission, you need to trace back the route as there is a mountain that's going to block your path if you choose a direct route home.

I haven't encountered any bugs yet (that I know of). I play on pretty much the easiest settings, but it's still a challenge to stay alive. Loading times are pretty long, hopeful that they will do something about that in the future.

Just like Task Force said, it's Rise of Flight. Got it yesterday (that is, the day I posted those pics). Takes a while to get used to it (and I HAAAAATE to fly in rain) but it's a real beaut!
