Thing is, I realise that things slow down near land etc but since upgrading my hardware and playing GWX 2.0 and SH3Cmdr 2.7 along with few other mods that the gamne has really slowed down. Even when im well clear of land at 1024 or 2048 TC, the view on the bridge is 1 fps and takes about 1 to 2 seconds to change, Never remember having this problem before. I did mess around with my memory timings and made them slighty slower to gain a more stable machine. Perhaps this has affected the fps? I upgraded my G.Card from 6600GT to an 8600GT. Cant understand why it would be the graphics. Gonna try turning down Anti Alaising or whatever its called. Its at x4 at the momment. As for fatigue Im not sure about turning it off completely. I quite liked rotating the crew now and again. I will try the values you posted STZ.

You are correct. We've been unable to remove that quirk. It would seem that it somehow relates to stock SH3 hydrophone behavior.

Now it's my turn to feel like an idiot. I've searched under every category I could, and I know I saw this not long ago, but for the life of me I can't find it now: is there a way to shut the Watch Officer up while in port? I know I can just remove him from his post, but I don't remember him being this annoyingly talkative in the past. Sometimes he'll repeat the same ship over and over.
I'd shoot the guy, but I know his replacement will be just as bad.
[edit] Oops, 'nother question: I've put my favorite Bf-109 skin into the textures folders, and it doesn't show up. How do I fix this?

Unfortunately, the yakkity-yakking WO is a stock SH3 issue that occurs when units pass in and out of the "edge of perception" regarding the visual sensors.
The only way to shut him up is to send him below or to silence his voice files... which I do not recommend because you'll need him to verbally notify you out at sea.
(Truth be told... I've gotten so used to him, that I don't really notice anymore, LOL!)
Regarding your Me109 skin... can you upload it for me to look at here? It may not be compatible since we rebuilt the Me109 in SH3. (Otherwise you can just repack the skin file into the dat file for that aircraft and it should function.)

Have rec'd the Me109 skin. Will test it in the next couple of days.
Regarding the removal of the WO and TC still dropping, what that says to me is that if any watchman spots a unit, it will drop TC whether or not there is a verbal notification. (Each represents a visual sensor at any rate.)

Well, I can see where it might take a couple of days real time to get through the Kanal. The highest I've been able to get is 8x, and that only for one second or less. I haven't experienced this problem in the past, and I've always used some form of 16km mod or other.
As for the Bf-109, it wasn't until you mentioned rebuilding them that I remembered: all those clear canopies with pilots inside didn't just appear out of nowhere. As much as I like that skin, it is pretty old.

:damn: First the torpedos then someone says "Hey check out my files on Megaupload!". Sorry laddie. Not only do your files suck, but they crash AFTER you click on the map in the room. I didn't add anything to my boat except crewmembers. But every single time I clicked on the map, 3/4 of the way it crashed when downloading a mission in the career mode. PLUS it has a dating thing that pops up time after time that showed people from my state wanting a love mate. I don't like having to turn off my monitor AFTER my 16 year old daughter turns it on when it shows a few women bending over forward not wearing any undies! Try explainin' THAT to your wife after your daughter complains about it!

My 'Near Land' TC is already set to 64! It won't go past 8, and then for less than a second before dropping back to 1!

I think the files you would need is MD5 Mate to be sure u have download full files and correction full installation procedures. Also I think you may have some spywares, u should run anti-spyware to clean em out, maybe anti-virus too.

I've found if you ask nicely and explain your problem, You get a lot more help than you can cope with, and more times than not, someone on here can solve it. :up:

The ID images in the recognition manual are not to scale, that's why you have the info you do running along the top. If they were made to be in scale, the would not fit the page horizontally.;)

Guten tag, Kameraden!
I've just downloaded and installed GWX 2.0, and I'm giving it a thorough shakedown cruise. I'm running the English version of SH3.
One of the first things I noticed was that the recognition book didn't have lightships in it. I didn't think much about this at the time. However, on a recent patrol near Hull, I came across an enemy tug, and nearby was a lightship. After sinking the tug, I attempted to line up on the lightship and nothing would lock, nor would the crew recognise it as a visual sighting. I closed to 300 metres, and still nothing. I put three torpedoes into it, resulting in fires and smoke, but it wouldn't sink.
I've done a search through this thread and the only reference to lightships is a hotfix for the German keyboard (which includes a recognition page for lightships). My first questions: Is there a glitch in the English version relating to the lightship, and if so, is there (or will there be) a fix?
My second issue relates to a mod that replaced the stock officer, hydrophone and sonar faces in SH3 with some from "Das Boot". Is this mod compatible with GWX 2.0? Is so, what is the best way to load it on?

I think the lightships are modelled as 'land objects' instead of ships for some reason. As I understand it, there is a small boat placed nearby to give the watch crew something to 'see'.

Yes, it's fully compatible. It's the only one I ever use. Do you have it? Do you need it?
Assuming you have it: The two files can go directly into Data/Menu/Gui/Layout, replacing the ones that are there. If you use JSGME, then create a series of folders with those labels, and put them inside another folder, labelled 'Das Boot Officers' (actually, you can call it anything you like. I just use whatever is easiest to remember). That folder will then go directly into JSGME's Mods folder.
Assuming you don't have it, here it is, ready to go:

I wish to make an apology. Sometimes I get sooooo:damn: frustrated I could pull my hair out. I'm sorry I said the things that I said. All I wish is to get a decent GWX 2.0 program that doesn't crash, the torpedos don't disappear and that stupid microsoft error reporting box doesn't pop up right in the middle of an exciting battle. I mean, you lads have put so much work in this mod with the addition of the ships, planes and such. Why doesn't UBI put out SH3 with all the latest patches PLUS the GWX 2.0 after they iron out the bugs. Maybe give it another name like, I don't know, THE GREY WOLVES perhaps? It's a shame that noone else gets to enjoy the game. So, apology accepted?:D

Remember that each and everyone of us GWX team members test the work we have done : so everything in GWX works fine, otherwise we wouldn't release it :huh:. If anything wrong happens, report the CTD, and you'll get informations from us about it, but keep in mind that the responsible could most probably be your computer. :hmm:

After you've followed the instructions from the GWX website, you may want to carry out an extra precautionary measure I perform.
Insert your game disc and select the 'uninstall' option. If there are any hidden files left, this option will be open to you. There are not always hidden files left, but on occasion there are.
What is absolutely key to the success of the process is ensuring the SH3 folder in C:MyDocs and the corresponding folder in C:Program Files (the whole Ubisoft folder if you only have SH3 contained within it) are deleted in their entirity.
Report back if you encounter any difficulties.

I downloaded the files onto a folder on my desktop labeled GWX 2.0, reinstalled the game and reinstalled the patches to 1.4b. Then I pressed the GWX.exe icon for setup and off it went. For a while. It got 50% of the way down then a gray box appeared and asked me for disk 4. It didn't recognize the GWX-4.bin file in the folder. I tried again with the same results. Any solutions?:damn: :arrgh!:

Initially I was going to ask if you put all the bin files in the same folder as the exe.....it would appear you have.
Check all the GWX2.0 files individually with the MD5 programme.......It is possible bin 4 is corrupt and needs to be downloaded again.
If that doesn't fix the problem then it is highly likely you still have some residual files stored somewhere in your system........Manually delete the SH3 folder in C:/MyDocs AND USE THE GAME DISC ONLY TO UNINSTALL THE SH3 FILES (using the uninstall option from the choices the disc gives you after inserting it via your CD/DVD Rom)......after completion of the uninstall, check for a folder in your C drive entitled Ubisoft....and providing you have no other Ubisoft games installed, delete that file.
Download RegVac: http://www.download.com/RegVac-Registry-Cleaner/3000-2263_4-10797012.html and run it through your system. It will detect any unused files as well as those that no longer have any purpose being in your system eg. SH3 and delete them.
Finally, perform a search in your computer for anything called 'SH3', Ubisoft etc. before reinstalling via the letter of the comprehensive installation instructions available from the GWX website (available by clicking on my sig).

First up is it the GWX2-4.bin file alone your having problems with? If so I can put thit up on my ftp providing this is ok with GWX and Subsim guys. To be honest I could never figure md5 either, it never worked for me :doh: However I thought what the hey and went ahead and installed, I never looked back. :rock:

Kpt. Lehman's file is on page 1. Go to the GWX homepage and there you will see his file on filefront. That's where I got them from. Right now I am downloading the whole batch from gameshadow. It'll take some time to download even though I have broadband but I have other things to do right now like cleaning my arsenal and getting ready for the Islamic horde that will be pouring across our shores once Osama bin Obama is elected Prez. Why are you re-downloading them? You checked them with MD5 mate and they were fine, or so you said.
The problem must be with your SH3 1.4b installation. As in your other thread.;)

I read your last message last night and just for the hell of it, I rechecked them again. Turns out I transposed some numbers or something and the red messegage came up. Well, I wasn't going to waste my day downloading file by file, so I registered with gameshadow and now I'm downloading the bulk file. All 1.2 gbytes of it and it'll take me about 26 hrs. to do it but it'll get done. I will then check the files with the MP5 Mate and MAKE SURE that all files match. Now are all the files about as updated as they can be? No disappearing torpedos when you load the external stores to the inside? The appearance of the error reporting box asking if you want to report the error to Microsoft? That was the only 2 problems I had with the mod. Oh, and if you played the gramaphone after a while the game would crash. I really do like the tunes, though. Much better than Deutschland uber alles all the time when you leave and enter port.

OK, seems you're on the way.
The files you are downloading are the latest. Except for one fix the team released, the Armed Trawler CTD fix which you can find on the GWX Download Page and it needs enabling via JSGME when you have installed the GWX 2.0 files.
Re the game crashing while using the Grammophone - If the files you have added or are playing are not OGG format, there is every chance the game will CTD. It's an old Stock issue where the game will have a hissy fit if you play anything other than OGG format, like MP3 or WAV.;)
Re dissappearing Torpedos - Well, I have been playing this game since it's release with every GW/GWX mod ever made and I have never had that happen to me.:yep: Can't explain that for you, unless your SH3 1.4b install is at fault.
I'll let you into a little secret.;) GWX 2.0 is MORE stable than Stock 1.4b, provided you know the original games issue & quirks. Seriously, I don't know why everyone is having so much trouble with the stability of GWX 2.0. I have completed over 25 patrols and GWX 2.0 has never caused me any problems, ever.;)
Every issue that has been posted in this forum is either new users who are not familiar with the original SH3's issues or user mistakes in the installation/maintenance of their game.
You know, you've got me thinking about a possible thread that lists oll of SH3's CTD/Issue causing elements and how to avoid them.:hmm: It would help so many people if they would read it.:rotfl:

:damn: Well, Here I am, 10:00 in the mornin', bright eyed and bushy tailed. I run to my computer to check on my download from Gameshadow and what do I see? A freakin' gray box tellin' me that my connection to Gameshadow.com has been timed out. And when I HAD 6 MINUTES LEFT ON MY DOWNLOAD! May God infect them with 10,000 crabs (lice) and bedbugs in their fartsacks! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH:damn: :arrgh!: CAN'T I GET A DOWNLOAD THAT WORKS WITHOUT HAVING TO DEAL WITH SITES THAT AREN'T EVEN IN THIS COUNTRY? That's when I had problems with the torpedos disappearing when I tried loading them from external stores to the internal stores, the program crashing when I was playing the gramaphone, and the box popping up after the program crashed asking me if I wanted to report the error to Microsoft. torps disappearing when loading them during patrol... wasnt that astock bug somewhere...
i had to download my G-Wix files from different sources, homepage, filefront etc...
besides corrupt downloads never ever ever in my life had a problem.
i used Md5 compare to check things were all right before prusseeding though.

:sunny: Right ow I'm downloading the files from Atomic Gamer. I'm almost Finished. I'll re-install 1.4b just to make sure everything is correct. Then I'll check the files with MP5 Mate BEFORE executing. Then we'll see what happens. But I must say, you lads did one hell of a job. I'm working on a mission so that I can get some more film clips. Can anyone assist me in letting me know whice file I should edit to increase the max speed of AI type 2a (s-boats) boats so that they are capable of the same speed as player controlled boats and if there's a program that I should use to make the edit, I'm assuming, possibly wrongly that it's a dat file. At the moment their top speed is 13 knots and I can run rings around them :)
Also is there a way to have both flak gun crew and watch crew on deck at the same time? again I'm assuming a file edit somewhere but this might not be so straightforward I guess.

Okay lads. I followed directions to the letter. When I downloaded the GWX 2.0 file, this came up:C:\Program files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter III\data\Sea\NKBL_\NKBL_T04.tga
An error occured while reading this file. The source file is corrupt. Anybody tell me which GWX .bin this is located at so I can try to reload it? Or is it corrupt that I shouldn't try?:hmm:

We had to install seatbelts on our bunks because we were taking over 45 degree rolls while crossing the North Atlantic en route to the Meditteranean Ocean. Went through a VERY nasty huriccane gale for a week. Hit the steel deck 3 times in one night from 7 feet up and decided to get some seatbelts and rivet them onto my bunk. My shipmates liked the idea and did the same.

torps disappearing when loading them during patrol... wasnt that astock bug somewhere...
i had to download my G-Wix files from different sources, homepage, filefront etc...
besides corrupt downloads never ever ever in my life had a problem.
i used Md5 compare to check things were all right before prusseeding though.
There is a bug when you are running a Type IXD/40; someone else suggested that you can work around it by only moving one torpedo from the external bay to the internal storage at a time. Don't start moving the next one until the first is completly loaded in it's bin.
Myself, I decided to stick to the Type IXC. It has the range I need provided I stick to 9 knots or so (23,000 km more or less, depending on weather.
Let me know if that works for you.

:sunny: Well laddies, I'm definately a happy camper! No disappearing torpedos, no error boxes, just good fun. I decided to start in 1939 in 2nd flotilla out of Wilhelmshaven. Started out with a VIIC and got assigned to the AM sector. Never got there. Had a little run in with the HMS Hood, a couple of Renowns, a C & D and something else. Popped off two torps at the C & D and went as deep as I could. Didn't work. Even shut off the engines but to no avail. We sank too deep from the damage and became fish food. But there WERE NO PROBLEMS OR ERRORS! I loved it. I forgot to change the depth of my torpedos to 2 feet or I would've sank that little scheisskopf! All I saw it do was run right underneath it. For wahat I was in the team, it was concentrated to get the game as realistic as posssible, so no, I dont think there will be support from GWX team to überboot.

OK, but can you at least say which of the two is correct? I mean is GWX intended to be light at night, or dark?
Both were intended to be "light" due to differences in monitors that typically made for darker display on LCD monitors.
Apparently it has escaped notice until now... including by myself.
Being a graphic issue, it takes second-seat to coding issues. Assuming the ENV file TGA's can be ported from the 8km default visibility mod to the 16km visibility mod... it should be no problem. If there is more to it... We'll see what happens.
Oh I hope this is an easy fix.... I really do like the 16k mod. But, as you know already, have one of those darker LCD monitors and just cant take the night without being able to at least see the bow of my Uboat.
Please let us know in the read me if you alter the 16k mod? If not I will just use the 8k mod and be happy.

1 rocket hit me today <.< I submerged, becasue 2 frighters spotted me in clear daylight and began to shoot (I didnt want to atk. them becasue both were 2k tons frighters...) 20 mins later (thinking i was out of their range) I surfaced and 10 seconds later I had serveral damage reports, i went on bridge and saw the the stripe (the air behind a rocket ^^) of the rocket in the air...didnt even know planes in Sh3 had the ability to aim with rockets.....well just bad luck i surfaced when the plane was 300 meters away( and i didnt use the observation scope bcause i didnt think that would happen ^^)
btw it was in the carribean.

I mean I dock at a Michkuh to refuel and reload and suddenly all "unrepairable" damage I repaired as well as the hull.
Just an idea... dunno if that is possible to change in game the fuel and torpedo loading without ending the patrol.
Had this one case: boat had severe damage taken from a harsh fight with some DDs and attack and obs scope were out... so normaly a case of "heading home!" but fuel was short so I docked at U461 and miracle... miracle... shiney and new...
If it is not changable... forget it.

1 The kriegsmarine Grid system... you find AN5623 by finding the Grid square AN56 then mentally dividing that square up into another 9 squares, then finding the 2nd square, divide that up into 9 squares again, and find the 3rd square...that gives you a fiarly accurate location of the reported contact
as to 2. there is a conversion table out there somewhere, but I couldn't tell you where.... you could try uboat.net

First off, you can't buy GWX, it's a freeware mod and is distributed free of charge.
Ok, seems that your SH3 maybe modded/changed. I suggest uninstalling it full and then reinstalling it. For instructions, look below my sig for the GWX homepage and visit the FAQ page.
When you have reinstalled SH3, right-click on the SH3.exe and check the version number, from there, you can find the right patch for you. Sounds as if you might need the EMEA Download patch but we can find that out later (please confirm if you have a DVD or Download). We can then point you directly to the correct patch.
Do this first, then we'll talk about installing GWX.:up:

My GWX doesn't run...
Since I installed the expansion, the game crashes everytime while a mission is nearly loaded.
The stock game works and the aces of the deep mod worked too. Then, I get the message that shIII has to be quit because of a problem...
Even the GWX Pack worked, a half year ago or so, and then suddenly the problem occured and i didnt have the time to search for a fix.
Now I installed the game again and looked forward to the new GWX 2.0...

I tried to disable mods like the 16km atmosphere by modsenabler. In the end I disabled everything I could, but it didn't work out.
Can anyone please help me???

There's 2 possible causes here:
1) Your SH3 installation is not clean/unmodded or is not patched to 1.4b.
2) The GWX 2.0 files you downloaded are corrupted.

Is there by chance a GWX 2.0 compatable skin mod for the VIIB that gives it a more weathered look? Also, I would really like to utilize SH3 Commander to change the skins periodically to maintain the simulation of RL wartime changes. Is there anything compatable that is pre-packaged out there? I know it can be done as SH3 has the date folders and it was done in the past, I just need the skins/date change info so I do not break anything. Thanks.

I was told by some gentleman, Including this one above me, that stock SH3 had a "hissing" sound just after "not so long ago...", a sound they described as "being inside a vacuum can while someone open it", and they told me gwx removed that sound, as it was never heard after gwx.
Can anyone on gwx crew tell me something about this? Im trying to fix something for a upcoming mod of mine.

I think the ' hiss maker' file you are looking for is :-
data/Sound/Collision_AntiSubmarineNet_int.wav
This is called when harbour defences are being drawn before a patrol starts.
Originally, in Stock SH3, it was more like an ear splitting screech. Your fellow Brazilian, Rubini (:rock: :rock:) , saved the hearing of many headphone wearing Subsimmers by turning down the volume in his Harbour Traffic mod so that it was inaudible. Other mods followed suit.
It is present in all the mods I've just looked at (NYGM, GWX, WAC)....its just that you can't hear it in-game. Although you can if you simply play the file from the Sounds directory

There are AI Subs that attack Convoys in the game. They only hunt on the surface though using their deck guns. Still if you find them you can join the attack and be a member of a virtual wolf pack. It's not the ideal situation but the game engine restricts proper wolf packs and submerged attacks by AI subs.

I thought about that but it didn't seem to make sense since this is the earliest possible starting date. So why is a ship reaching it's final waypoint and vanishing within 5 minutes of basically the big bang (the beginning of the SH3 universe)?

Is there a proper time to put this mod in. I put it in July 1942 & had all kinds of problems. There is no harbor traffic in it. When I put GWX lite harbor traffic in with the GWX Indian ocean campaign it conflicts with the GWX lite harbor traffic mod in the JSGME. The manual talks about August 1942 but does not say that this is the proper time to apply this mod in the game. I do not see when the proper time to activate this mods is. Can someone please help.

You need to enable the Indian Ocean Files only when you want to go to the Indian Ocean. If you're in the 10th Flotilla you will be transfered to Penang in September 1943.
I think to be as explicitly accurate as the manual is, you should activate the Indian Ocean files only when you will end your patrol in Indian Waters.
If you have been transferred to Penang but you'll be sailing out of a French port and going there yourself then you activate the files.
If you are sailing from Penang on patrol and expect to end your patrol in Penang then keep the files active.
If you are sailing from Penang to France and will end your patrol in a French or other European port then disable them.

The 10th Flotilla is active in Penang from September 43 and Jakarta from November 44. Therefore, I wouldn't advise enabling the Indian Ocean Campaign prior to September 43.
Only enable when your in port, and perform a rollback first (if your using SH3Commander).
Better still, if your machine can handle it, enable the Merged Campaign file at the outset, then you can pick whatever Flotilla you prefer and transfers when they occur are of no significant importance.

That's your problem....you need the supercharged engine upgrade which should give you 3500 knots.....just enough to get you through ;)

Install of Multiple Versions
1)Complete a fresh install of SH3 + 1.4b as normal.
2)Create a copy of the program folder & rename as required.
3)Install your mod of choice to the renamed version.
4)Create and rename shortcuts as required.
5)Use MultiSH3 to create separate save locations for each install.
SH3 Commander & Multiple Installs
It is recommended to have a separate install of Commander for each different install of SH3.
1)Install SH3Commander and rename the program folder to suit.
2)Rename each SH3Cmdr shortcut as required.
3)You will need to use the l: switch to point SH3Cmdr to the right installation.
Here's an example of the l: switch for dual installs, just tailor it to fit.....
Right click on the SH3Cmdr shortcut & choose properties.
Target
"C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander-GWX\SH3Cmdr.exe" /l:"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent HunterIII-GWX"
Start in
"C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander-GWX"

I was just pushing an offtopic conversation, I know everybody loves to just chat once in a while, we can't always keep focused on the game and the game's problems. And about Lehnmann, was not a PM about the game, was a PM about live, the "how are you doing" sort of stuff. Sometimes we just talk about regular inlife stuff via PM, but I've noticed that he desappeared lately. Wondering whats wrong...
I know Jim can help with most of the stuff, but why bully him with just ingame doubts and questions all the time? He's a human being too!

suggestion for the HULL status in 2.1
GWX removes the % of the hull... but without replacement.
Imho the crew knew roughly how much the boat has taken and how good the hull was in shape... so why not give a rough status of the hull instead of removing the % completly?
I thought of something like:
excellent 100%
good (99-80%)
slightly damaged (79-60%)
damaged(59-40%)
ripped(39-20%)
don't you even ask 20% and less
each for a range of 20% whereas excellent only is for 100% hull

I did say "occasionally", but I don't really play these days; I start a career just to test stuff. Back when I was playing all the time I think I got the message quite often, if not every time. It's worrisome at first, but I don't think it hurts anything.
Still, it would be nice to make it stop. Have you clicked the boxes to see what the error actually is?

I remember getting errors on exit for a very short while. It ended up being caused by file incompatibility. I think, at least in my case, that I hadn't installed the GWX cfg files into SH3Cmdr. Or I enabled a non-GWX compatible mod. I can't quite remember but it was certainly something as simple as that.

It's a sound file conflict. You probably have stereo files mixed with mono files.

That's probably true. I just today discovered some stereo files in the Das Boot pack. Looks like I have some reworking to do. Simple, though; it's only the handful of .wav files.
And in my case I have the added problem that BBW mentioned: I have memory problems.
Not me...the computer.

Norton is a real memory hogg.....use ghost to take an image of your OS but that should be all.

Adding it up with "Spybot Search 'n' Destroy" and "a-squared" gives you some peace of mind I never had with Norton.
These days, Norton's stuff is nothing more than a resource hog and uninstalling it can break your Windows so badly you have to re-install your OS.
To each his own.
That CTD on exit does indeed sound like a file/software incompatibility or it might even be a file that got mangled during a read/write access. Windows is notorious for sloppy file keeping.

I played sh1, sh2(a dream come true, some missions I played over and over), and I got myself sh3. I didn't play it much cause yes, it was great, but some things were annoying me(sh4 I don't play, sorry yanks, das boot and all, sh1 was enuf). Some time ago, a month in fact, I downloaded 1.04 patch and accidentally(yes, pure curiosity) I typed mods for sh3. And I really, really stood surprised :o when I saw there are so many people liking das boot and u-boats and.. I was into some other games and mods, never thought there were mods for this type of game. My question is in fact does using those mods and programs makes the gwx game better and still stable, or it's not recomendable. I know what it says in manual, just thinking as a newbie you can answer me based on your experience. Thanks in advance. Also, I read about gwx 2.1. I totally agree with deck gun. I've read that it is more difficult to shoot with dg in gwx. I dunno, I sunk two ships with 50, 60 shells again. So, yes, you have to make it so that I or anyone use it only when it's really, really clear weather. A stabiliser for perscope would be great too, considering I read it was in reality..
P.S. I can really can call myself lucky, cause for developing a great mod for the game, it takes years and a great will and I found it when it is near perfect. Great mod! I played sh1, sh2(a dream come true, some missions I played over and over), and I got myself sh3. I didn't play it much cause yes, it was great, but some things were annoying me(sh4 I don't play, sorry yanks, das boot and all, sh1 was enuf). Some time ago, a month in fact, I downloaded 1.04 patch and accidentally(yes, pure curiosity) I typed mods for sh3. And I really, really stood surprised :o when I saw there are so many people liking das boot and u-boats and.. I was into some other games and mods, never thought there were mods for this type of game. 2)Create a copy of the program folder & rename as required.
3)Install your mod of choice to the renamed version.
4)Create and rename shortcuts as required.

I meet convoys consisted from merchants of all types (and i got my Auxillary Cruiser from one of them:arrgh!: ) and also various types of neutrals. Yeah, I guess it is an assumption to expect people to understand (or even care) why I'd call the SH3 Commander User Guide something as silly as SH3CUG. ;) :rotfl:
@thehiredgun, you can install SH3Cmdr R3.0 at any time or stage of your career. Just ensure that you've pressed the "Rollback SH3" button in your existing version first, before uninstalling it. And if you've tweaked/personalised any of the SH3Cmdr\Cfg files, don't forget to back them up too.

If you use SH3commander and tick historic uboat availability you will only get a IID
Unfortunately the way the SH3 files work you can choose all uboats available to that flotilla unless the SH3commander option is ticked
Even if the others arent available till the flotilla moves to Flensburg

I'm to report a possible bug, not really shure is it or not, or it's just connected with my computer or my installation. Anyways, I loaded new campaign 1943. in la Spezia. I started following the patrol boat. I turned the gramophone on, and as I was showing everything to my nephew, I tried to show where on the map of the world we are. Accidentally zoomed in and out in(all the way) navigation map 1, 2 times with songs playing on gramophone and then, CTD. Tried several times, with mods, without("raw" gwx 2.0), every time CTD. Ofcourse, I used the same procedure with gramophone on, didn't try without. Anyways, not so annoying, I just avoid using map so radically, especially with gramophone on. :p Maybe it's connected to gramophone music. Didnt try later in the patrol, just on the start.

As far as the gramaphone is concerned, have you added any tracks ?
If so, are they all in ogg.vorbis format ?
I don't know what is wrong but after sunk some ships, or after battle like was today i can't accelerate my time because my comp just stop, after when i set 16x time. To accelerate more time i have click click "+" and the compression of time is really slow. I have to save the game and exit to window, and set particle rendering to 32x . After that game are still slow below or with 32X time, but when the game is above 32X game start normal accelerate and all go smooth. I have this always when i install GWX2.0. Maybe there is something wrong with this particle rendering because i fill that game still rendering particle even you are far away from this smoke, sunked ship.
And i see strange thing when you sunk a ship on shallow water, the wreck jump. It's look stupid. Almost all wrecks jump but on deep water you don't see it.

That could be down to graphucs card or RAM. What are you using.
Ships will not disappear if sunk in quite shallow waters. Especially the large ones.
My computer is old AMD 1,8 GHz 768 ram, radeon 9800 pro 256/256, but i newer have this problem until i install GWX 2.0. I use a NYGM, GWX1.4 and some other mods but without this problem.

Your machine specs are fine, they should and will run GWX fine.
But as already pointed out (if I now understand your original post correctly), you will face these problems if you are attempting to render at x32 whilst using external views.

Straight GWX2 and SHC30 patched with cfg.
Only mods installed GWX lite traffic,integrated orders,officer icons and enhanced damage.
This was installed on a reformated rig and flew IL2-1946 without any problems.
Installed SH-3 and patched 1.4b us Ran game once to install Keycode
D\L from jims filefront and checked files with Jonesoft MDS MATE
Ticked GWX exe. and installed. Ran once to create career.
Then installed SHC30 and GWX2 cfg 4 SHC.- minus ship names cfg.
I am at a loss why this is happening. Hope you all can help as I can only play SH-3 with GWX2 :D

I have this problem with all time compression, but when i set 1x i oki, with 2x-4x is almost oki, but when i set 8x,16x,32, and more game work worst. The higher value make worst result. Game work like : stop and go :/, for a while game stop, after that game move, and again game stop, and after that move. But as i say on higher value of time compression the stop moment take longer.
My last patrol i use a external view(but disable "<>" keys) because i install OLC Environment i want watch for a while ;). But now i start a new patrol without external View.

That's why you are having trouble with TC. OLC himself states that his Env mod will pull low end systems to it's knees.;) Disable this mod and try again.
If that's not the cause (it should be) it maybe an old Stock Bug where destroyed ships are not completely unloaded by the game engine and are stil being rendered but out of sight below the sea floor. This usually only occurs in shallow water. Exiting/ending your current patrol and starting a new one wil fix it.

No i have this problem before OLC Environment was instaled. And i modyfied OLC Env. and now OLC Env work fine.

I'm sorry mate, but this has got me completely stumped :nope:
It could be graphics drivers related. You could try installing most recent versions and if that doesn't work, go back to an earlier version.
Normally I would say a corrupt file on installation, therefore do a complete reinstall, but if the game runs fine up to a certain time/event after having loaded successfully, it can't/shouldn't be that.
What is certain (for what it's worth).....you have a definite conflict somewhere. :yep:

Iv'e tried every combo to the point of reformat, no anti virus, no nothing running in back ground and still ctd.
I leave port Lorient yet, and am on the bridge looking at everything, sometimes with binocs. I even use < > keys to look a specific ships in dock. No problem.
I follow a N.W. course at where i'm just E. of deep water get to the BF grid area as from past experience I'm likely to stumble on a merchant or two on my way to AL32.
As soon as WO say's ship spotted or I see a ship icon on map and hit > key, for an instant I might get to see merchant then CTD.
If it wasn't for the fact that i can play IL2 1946 , MS FSX ,rFactor raceing and other raceing games without a problem. I say Hardware problem.
If it's any consolation it doe's the exact same thing in SH4 TMO & RSRD.
But first things first :D before I'm off to talk to Ducimus & co.

AS for overheating > 5 fans all conected to a control center that also has sensors hard connected to cpu heatsink, hdd, main system and vid card.
CPU fan is new and large connected to copper heat thats new. 25c.
All 4 ram sticks and are matching have copper heatsinks.
Case and all componants are spotlessly clean since upgrades includeing 750 watt ps.
As far as vid cards it doe's it on both.

This patch do right thing... CTD not hapened, but for now Trawler is unsikable ;)

Well, sorry for the long delay. Had to loose some damn destroyers and some exams. Anyways, Jimbuna, I added files to gramophone, but they are all in ogg. Have you tried zooming in and out several times quickly? As far as I'm concerned, maybe my computer freezes when it comes to zooming in sh3 nav map while playing the music, as using the nav map is not children's play and that's all there is to it. :doh:

I am playing SH3 GWX 2.0 & lately when I am done with a patrol it brings me back to the same grid as the patrol before. Any ideas? Also I have see the guys on SH4 move but today I had one just a shaking on SH3 GWX 2.0 after I got depth charged by a black swan It took out the entire rack of depth charges after the black swan depth charged me leaving a man holding on to a rope where the depth charges were & looking like he was just a shaking. Maybe scared?

I shouldn't be too concerned about repeated patrol grids, especially in 2.1 (those assigned are down to the game engine anyway)

I used to have fatal CTDs when zooming in and out on the nav map screen.
I believe it was because I was trying to nav out of harbour as soon as possible, while my system was also trying to render everything in the harbour. I solved the problem short term by waiting until the Watch Officer finished reporting all the ships in harbour before accessing the nav map. Long term solution was upgrading RAM.
Had a strange bug, or glitch today. I had fired two eels at a Large Frieghter and was just about 100m or so from the eels striking the target. Suddenly the merchant blinks two or three times, as in in and out of existance, then just dissappears. There was no way the torps could have missed unless they where duds. I was watching the whole time, the ship simply was there one minute and gone the next. The next contact I got was an Armed Trawler comming from that direction. Funny he didnt dissappear:nope:
Just wondering if this is a stock bug or some other strange occurance?
Awesome mod BTW, its like someone finally cared about the money I've been pumping into this franchise and finally delivered ABOVE my expectations!

Could be it reached it's waypoint.
I have seen ships reach a waypoint and vanish because they were
scripted to Delete on last waypoint.
