Problem solved. Was the RB SH4 effects thingy. I also noticed now that the dense of the smokescreen was really low. Now with SH4 effects off, I can see the smokescreen far faaaaaar better over 20km :arrgh!:
Thanks to all :yeah:

Hi Pants/J
Great to see your still about.
Long time no speakee...take care matey http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif
Hello
I have followed the "Grey wolf instructions" and so far so good. But when I start the game it stops just after the red loadingbar has reached the end. When I then go out via ALT-CTRL-DEL theres a warning saying: Theres a new (not implementet) page: <page ingame Options>!
Can any one help my get back on my stell horse again? Just found the SH3 in my box of old games... hope you can help...

Welcome aboard matey http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/welcome.gif
Have you installed GWX3.0 on a clean/fresh install of SH3 patched to 1.4b?
Did you delete the SH3 folder in C\MyDocs first?
Did you perform a registry clean first?
It sounds like you have residual files from a previous installation.
A question:
Is radar available for the allies at Oct.+ 1939? It happened to me now several times that I was spotted when I am still far away (over 7km) especially by small cargos like Trawler etc. Didn't found anything about it in the manual.
Are they able to spot me visual at this distance? Didn't remember it was in vanilla SH3
If it's a feature the better.
Like the hydrophone spotting tonight by a Destroyer. Was at the end of the patrol when I saw a Tribal destroyer. Was 3 AM and decided to take this easy prey. Sneaked forward waited 30 mins in periscope depth with mashines stop and ~ 500m away BUT not in Schleichfahrt (don't know the english name :O:) which was my fault at this range. Just as I wanted to fire my torp, the destroyer headed in full speed towards me. Damn, full speed crush depth, was hitted several times with minor damage and flooding. I didn't got away from his badass ASDIC only after the damage was repaired while depth charts were surround me and after he was out of ammo
Well, the 30mins task was an over 3 hours exhausting task with great maneuvers. My luck there came no support. GWX: :yeah:

In my humble experience, there is no way you should get that close to a sub-hunter at ANY point in your campaign without setting Silent Running first. They seem to pick up just on your presence, and presumably whatever noise you are making, when not in that mode. I'm guessing that is what you meant by "Schleichfahrt" - is that literally "Don't even Fart"? :har: Can't give you a scientific response regarding the detection range, but that early in the war it is assuredly visual, not radar. Hope that helps, and good hunting!

your translations are quite accurate, torpedobait! :D
alcord, by all means go to silent running (schleichfahrt) when approaching DDs or convoys. just lone merchants will not hear you.
Yeah, I learned my lesson... Thought they won't discover me but the crew is still making noise... :salute:
But what's with the visual spotting / radar I mentioned? Is it possible that a Trawler can spot me at over 7km? Or do they have a radar that early (1939)?

visual range depends on wheather conditions.
I once got spotted and shot at! from more than 10km-range.
and I don't think that radar was introduced before end of 1941 ....

As a general rule, I assume that if I am close enough to see them, they are close enough to see me. Darkness and weather conditions and the low profile of my vessel may make it less likely that I'll be spotted as quickly (or at all), but can't guarantee it.
And I have come across armed trawlers that seem to function in-game primarily as warships, not merchants. IME they are definitely on the lookout for threats and will spot me more quickly than a merchant ship will.
Damn, ok then wide range passing. Thanks
Edit: Erm. Anybody knows if there's a compatible bigger dial mod for gwx, perhaps only the depth dial? It really annoys me that I can't hit the right depth with the gwx dial...
is there someone here who can help me with something.
after having the movie "das boot" for the 1.000.000'th time :D I wondered if it is possible to use a part of it in the game.:hmmm:
at some point in the movie there is an exercise crash dive. but I wanted to add the part when they scream 'ALAARMM' until several seconds later when I crash dive in-game.
is this possible, if so, is there someone that can make this as i'm a complete noob on modding stuff myself :haha:

I find the use of the German voices with the English text the best I can do. I am even beginning to understand a few of the commands and find this combination the best I can do for my immersion.
Perhaps one day I will try the text files also; however, my past experiences with languages suggest that this is a lost cause.

Hey, just a quick question.
I started a new career in the 13th Flotilla in Königsberg. On the naval map are "target ships". Looked in the manual and found nothing. Is this like a "mission" to torp these ships?

One day plus an additional day for every % point of damage you have sustained (if any).

Use them as target practice, you have been given 1500 renown points to make good the negative renown you'll receive for sinking them.
Thanks and damn...I recruited some high advanced men...well sh... happens :yep:

If I've sustained damage and not looking to upgrade to another sub type or newer equipment I always use the milch cow option....it can save days on the time you would spend transitting.
Hmmm, this thingy with the target ships didn't work for me. As I neared the port of ?Pillau? friendly units opened fire on me and each other. The whole port was a war field:hmmm::06:

The target ships you sunk are considered neutral by the game, as are all ships prior to the outbreak of hostilities. If you attack a neutral ship at any time during your career, other forces belonging to that nation will consider you an enemy for the following 24 hours and attack you without further provocation.
The idea is to use those ships to practice your skills and then "teleport" back to base when the time comes, and thus avoid coming in range of any firepower emanating from Pillau.
Or if you don't feel the need to practice, you can do what I do when starting out of Königsberg - sail around your designated patrol grid until you get orders to return, attack no one, then sail back and keep the extra renown you were given as compensation for what you would've lost had you sunk those neutral vessels.

You'll receive a radio message recalling you on 4th...simply teleport back (Esc key) then...
apply for a transfer to 1st or 2nd Flotilla....your next patrol should commence on 24th August which will allow you enough time to transit to your patrol area prior to the commencement of hostilities, which is precisely what happened in RL.
This is all presuming you are using SH3 Commander and have the setting at '20 days in port between patrols'.
This is the way we intended the game to be played.
I'm not sure how widespread it is known but GWX was designed for The Grey Wolves....it was intentionally moulded/fashioned into a mod incorporating how The Grey Wolves wanted to play the game.
That was our initial intention....the public release IMHO was a bonus for our fine subsimming community.
During the development stages there were a great many suggestions from the community asking if this or that could or would be included...it was only after discussing at The Lair what The Grey Wolves thought that a decision was taken whether to include it or not....that is presuming it was possible of course.

If you fire on a "neutral" ship, even the designated target ships, all other "neutral" ships and even shore installations will fire on you for the next 24 hours. It seems to tick off the world if you violate their neutrality - think of yourself as a war criminal hunted by all.
I think it's a nice quirk in the game plan, but didn't care much for it the first time I entered a Spanish port right after accidentally sinking a Spanish liner and they blew my boat out of the water! "Live and Learn", so to speak. :D

I downloaded this MOD, and played it, and loved it.
However, once I reached patrol 15, or about the time the Type 9C became available, files, saved games would not load.
Mission 16, I was returning from Africa, passing up through the far left of the BE area. Something came up and I had to save because I had to leave.
Upon returning, I keyed up the game, and proceeded to load my previous save.
It took 10 minutes to load, and once loaded, the screen was "locked" in the control room, the game would not play at all, zip, nothing, nada.
In fact, it locked up so bad I had to press the computer reset in order to exit the game.
I have since deleted this game.
Any suggestions as to why this happened?

Easy there man.
To answer your question, in essence YES. We designed The Grey Wolves/GWX mod project in the way we saw fit and agreed upon following extensive research, testing, and within the limitations of the SH3 PC game itself.
There was no requirement that forced us to release it. We did so because we wanted to share it with the community... not because we HAD to.
Kpt. Lehmann

...Any suggestions as to why this happened?
Unfortunately yes.
SH3 has a number of save-game bugs.
Maybe you encountered a hardware limitation of some sort.
Did you add any mods during the patrol?
A number of known SH3 game bugs and suggested workarounds are included in the GWX manual.

Huh? Indeed!
I'm not sure how serious your questions are but as they were asked of me I'll gladly respond.
The Grey Wolves are the collective of individuals who were responsible for the development, testing and implemantation of the mod.
Initially, at its earliest conception it was intended to be a private mod.

SH5 has milkcows out of the box, but they are an instant refit rather than a day + patrol restart. They also don't appear till later in the war, so many people don't realize they are available. heh
There's already been work begun on a more historically accurate milkcow (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=165719) mod as well.

One more question regarding GWX; is there any way to make the ocean look less murky? I want to see Merchants go all the way down to Davy Jones' locker. I remember using a ClearWater mod earlier (a year or two ago), but I don't know if it's compatible with GWX.
You can adjust water clarity if you're using SH3 Commander. Am at 18 on the scale, but of course you have to be pretty neat to see boats sink, otherwise it becomes murky anyway.

Welcome to GWX!
I noticed the same thing - the difficulty of engaging aircraft, even in the tutorial, has been significantly increased in GWX to more accurately model the real life odds of surviving such an encounter unscathed, if at all.
However it makes up for this (sorta) by giving you the full Academy renown bonus just for taking and passing the Navigation exam.

Bottom line: as Jim was eluding to, Aircraft before GWX 3.0 was a turkey shoot. Now, it's better to go deep. As for the tutorial, do your best and if your best isn't good enough, cheat.:D

You mean like take all the exams in a separate stock install where you pass them with flying colors and then copy/paste the resulting data into the corresponding GWX3 cfg file?
Not that I would ever do that. :shifty:

Of course I have never cheated renown.
Oh, I would never do that either. Unless you count adding back in the renown for reaching a patrol grid. And the renown for carrying out the 24 hour patrol as ordered. And then there's the extra renown you get and can actually keep if you start out of Konigsberg but don't sink any of the "target ships" in the bay. Also there's the whole issue of selecting a few choice realism options and making them add up to 100% so the game thinks you're playing at full realism when you're totally not.
But cheating? Never. :D

How do I keep the time compression from dropping back to 1 after a GWX radio message comes in? It's usually not a problem for me -- except during the invasion of Norway the radio went crazy with those messages. :06:
I've already tried the TC settings in SH3 Commander but they only affect the game's default radio transmissions.

I would advise using Wreford Browns Mission Orders Lite

You will get fewer radio messages and those you do receive will be pertinent to the gameplay.

Hey there,
this time I have no problems just a question to the depth dial...
Is there any bigger depth dial out there for GWX3? A slide in one like the compass? Till now it's really hard to get the right depth, especialy annoying in maneuveing just above the sea ground. Makes me mad :x
May be that's what you're looking for :

Hello. i'm using GWX 3.0 and SH3 commander and I am a bit shocked about waves and see effects in Nord sea. I did my first patrol with a Type IIA.
3 days after leaving base, a storm rose. It was really a living hell, the boat was jumping out of the water (almost), sometimes the conning tower was even totally submerged, and the propeller was often out of water (which in reality would be very bad for the transmission).
Worst, the watch crew didn't wanted to come below the deck.
I eventually decided to submerge to wait for better weather, but I ask myself if the weather in Nord sea or even in Atlantic can be like that, and if it happens, what were doing skippers and Kaleuns ?

yep.
one can get even sea-sick just by standing on the bridge watching the horrible wheather the Northern Atlantic is able to brew.
it's absolutely normal that waves crest over the conning-tower in bad wheather. sometimes it got so unbearable that the U-Boot submerged and tried to sit out the storm.

Not sure where you're looking, but do know that there are several .bin files and one .exe file for GWX3. You need all of them, and they all need to be downloaded and saved to your computer in the same location (same folder, or all to your desktop, or whatever).
All of the necessary files should be available from Jim's Filefront page as well as the Grey Wolves website.
The .exe file is what you will doubleclick to start/run the install but it needs all the .bin files to do that properly.

I am looking at the two links on the download page of the GWX Homepage. The first link opens Kpt. "Lehmann's FileFront page" and I started to download the files one by one, when I get to the third file there is no file or nothing happens.... This seems to be old or at least the site doesn't work properly.
So I decided to try the other or "Jimbuna's FileFront page" but noticed that there are plenty of files to download. The question is: Do I need all these files? And if not, which ones do I need?
Or again, which is the correct URL for the correct download site?
Thanks

Ah, yes, looking at Jim's wide assortment of available files I can see where it would indeed be confusing if you don't already know exactly what to pick out from among the offerings. :DL
For the GWX3 supermod installation, you'll need all of the following:
GWX3-1.bin
GWX3-2.bin
GWX3-3.bin
GWX3-4.bin
GWX3-5.bin
GWX3-6.bin
GWX3-7.bin
GWX3.exe
That should be it. Don't think it matters whether you get them from one d/l site or the other, as long as you have all of 'em. As noted above they need to be saved to the same location on your hard drive so the .exe file can access all the .bin files as needed during the installation.
Thank you so much "Frau Kaleun"!
I have another question for you:
There are other links like for example GWX3.0 scene.dat.7z, GWX3.0_Additional_Ammo.7z, GWX3.0_All_Weather_Guns.7z and many others starting with the letters GWX3.0_something.7z and just other files.
Are these included in the seven .bin files or are these optional add-ons and which ones are needed and which ones are not?
Thanks again for your patience "Frau Kaleun"

Hey, no problem!
Most of them are optional mods that you can get and try out later if you decide to do that. I would suggest searching or asking for information on them here if and when you're interested.
Some may be files that are included in the initial install, put there in case someone has a problem crop up with one particular file for one reason or another and just wants to try replacing it without reinstalling everything.
But as long as you have the eight files listed above, you should be good to go as far as installing GWX3. Do that and play with it a while and you'll have a better idea of what things you might want to add or enhance with the other mods that are available from various sources.
danlisa
05-04-10, 10:18 AM
They're additional user mods.
Download GWX 3.0 first, check out the included mods and then, if you want additional changes, look for other mods.
For a base GWX 3.0 install, it's just the 7 bins & 1 exe.

The problem FF account holders with multiple files stored have is the inability to lump them together into separate folders/sections, as was done in the past.
This ability was lost a year or two back when the ownership of FF changed hands.
If I'm wrong then could someone please inform me how it is done because I've looked and can't see any means available to the primary account holder.

I was just wondering... is there any way to tone down how good the Destroyers are in GWX3.0 Gold? Just that, when I'm at full stop, silent running, submerged and no periscope up, destroyers are still detecting me from over 3km away, which is way over the top.
So yea, anything that could help make it a little less lethal would be appreciated! :DL

GWX 3.0 or GWX Gold includes every hotfix mentioned in this thread.
This thread has been merged & altered as part of GWX development and includes discussion from no less than 4/5 releases/variations of the mod. In fact I believe the original post was even relating to TGW (The Grey Wolves) especially if it was 2006. Or perhaps time has run away with me.:hmmm:

Sinking a hospital ship gets you negative renown. Lots and lots of negative renown. Sinking two? Twice as much negative renown. I think it's like, minus 5000 per ship.
Anyhoo if you acquire enough negative renown on a patrol and end up with no renown (or negative renown) at the end of it, your career as a u-boat commander is over.

Do you by chance have any of the mods for Mediterranean or Black Sea or Indian Ocean campaigns enabled?
Those mods contain alternate campaign files that will only generate shipping and naval traffic in the designated areas, but not out in the Atlantic proper. It's done to decrease the load time if you are only going to be playing in the Med or Black Sea or whatever.
But if you're playing an Atlantic campaign out of a North Sea or Atlantic port, you don't need to enable them and will find yourself quite lonely out there if you do. :DL

Hmm.. silly questions, but if you are surfaced, is your Watch Officer on the bridge? If you submerge and resurface, he will not go back there automatically like the rest of the bridge watch. You have to go into Crew Management and move him back manually. (Sucks but it's one of those game "features" that there doesn't seem to be a fix for.) If he's not on the bridge I don't think you will get notified of visual contacts.
If you are submerged, is there a guy at the hydrophone station to notify you of sound contacts?
Sinking a hospital ship gets you negative renown. Lots and lots of negative renown. Sinking two? Twice as much negative renown. I think it's like, minus 5000 per ship.

Boot the game (with SH3 Commander if you are using it....and I strongly recommend that you do) and create a new career.
Open JSGME and make sure you UNABLE EVERY MOD.....everything should now be in the left hand side box.
Now enable the GWX-Merged Campaign AND ONLY THAT.
Run the game and you should see traffic.
If this is the case, go back to my original/first instruction and create another career but this time disable the merged campaign and run a career out of Kiel or Wilhelmshaven commencing Sept. or Oct. 39....you should be okay now.
It would also be a good idea to set Commander to automatic rollback.

More than likely you will have other problems you dont see yet
IIRC Windows7 uses a virtual store to hold compatability files ( in Vista and carried over to Win7 )
So Win7 will hold these files and when you over write with a mod it will replace them
Only happens in Program files which is why you dont install there

I've never done this but are the downloadable ships for GWX included in the GWX campaign once downloaded? I've never dnld any thinking they were just for mission makers and not for inclusion.

It depends on whether the ships are a mod or simply a 'bolt on'.
I have both and script those in I need to personally.

Yes, and it's quite fun. I was anchored in Danzig just for fun, when I heard shooting. A Polish destroyer and two gunboats were mounting an attack, and an anchored German destroyer made mincemeat of them. First he sank the Polish DD and then trashed both gunboats, all while still anchored. One of the gunboats sank just as I got there. I finished off the second one and was given credit for the kill. I then anchored next to the destroyer for the night and wrote in my log book that the DD's captain had my officers and me to dinner and was kind enough to radio in my help.
All-in-all a fun sight to see and participate in.

Here's an image of the traffic in September 39 (Danzig is slightly below centre of image)....not enough activity IMO to warrant sniffing around for long unless you like to go harbour raiding because that is where the majority of units are.

Does anyone out there know how to tweak some of the GWX3 settings? In particular, I'd like to get rid of all that unnecessary radio chat (how many times have I told my W/T operator that I only want to be woken from my bunk if the message is for my own U-Boat?), re-instate wake lines on the map, and cut down on the number of air & naval traffic at friendly bases.
Loading "GWX-Lite Harbor Traffic" should help your traffic issue.. as for the rest..:timeout: can't help ya Mate.. you'll have to wait for one of the designers to chime in.

Lite Harbor Traffic will indeed do away with excessive ships/planes in your home port.
WB's Mission Orders Lite mod will do away with non-essential radio traffic:
This mod drastically reduces the number of radio messages you receive during the campaign to a total of just 229 which are all relevant to missions scripted into GWX or important to your decision making process (e.g. location of supply ships). WBNN is designed for GWX but will work with any mod.
It can be found here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1385
The GWX Contact Color mod will return the "wake tails" to contacts shown on your nav map but will also re-color them to indicate their enemy/friendly/neutral status. There may very well be a mod that only returns the tails and nothing else, if so someone else may know where to find it. The Contact Color mod can be found here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=33
Jimbuna

One section not made reference to is the friendly air cover at your bases....this ranges from a passing flight of bombers to a pair of fighters or even a certain very early version of the helicopter.
All of that is scripted in to the campaign layer and would cause a catastrophic phenomena if removed by anyone not understanding the campaign files well enough.
The above are not system requirements heavy.
On the other hand, later in the war the Allies will actually bomb your facilities and those moments can have an impact on the fps (frames per second) but IMHO are well worth the cost.
Regarding the radio traffic in GWX-
I assumed that the majority of it was just immersion but after a contact report showed a inbound convoy a square away from me I received the next radio message 2 hours later.
"U-35, 39 and 53 to operate against the convoy."
My boat is u-53!!:o
That has to be a coincidence, right?
Probably but did you try to intercept the convoy anyway? Just out of sheer curiosity.
Probably but did you try to intercept the convoy anyway? Just out of sheer curiosity.
Yes. In 2 night surface attacks in heavy seas and low visibility U-53 sank a Southampton class cruiser and two cargo ships as well as damaging a third freighter.
What can I say? Orders are orders.:salute:
I guess it is a rare coincidence then. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to do with you Uboat's number though.

Next and best step in getting assistance would be to list your computer specs here, plus any other mods or addons you may be using aside from GWX and Commander. That may help narrow it down to a known issue with a particular setup or combination of factors, or at least rule out some of the usual suspects.

Jimbuna is right; this type of problem is almost always due to a mod conflict.
There are some obscure hardware-software issues, however, that can cause this. One I recall is a sound problem with or without sound acceleration.

Even at it is, the GWX makes the game great. I would say it is really essential. I was trying SH4, it ran great on my machine, better than SH3 to be honest as i have very low loading times adding to the fluid graphics.
BUT because we have no GWX for SH4, with all due respect to the mod makers who made the existing mods for SH4, the game simply isn't immersive. You can surface your boat amidst 3 enemy destroyers and still live for a good 5 minutes no joking. Planes aren't a threat either, you can easily shoot down 2 enemy planes before they can do any actual damage. The AI is horribly inaccurate. The game in it's current state defeats both the "silent" concept and immersion feeling. I hope someday they make it great but in the meanwhile GWX SH3 is the way to go. I do like SH4 realism targeting system but OLC is here for SH3 :)
SO GWX is really what makes the game, ubisoft left the great team their work... While it is not fair I'm glad they did as the game is a beauty now :) Now lets see if i sort my crashing issue :)
Problem solved. It was the NON GWX mod. An advice tip: when troubleshooting, deactivate the MOD which tooltips "Read the f*cking manual" first :)

Hello Everyone,
GWX was the first "Super"-Mod I played, when starting to play SH3. I'm now also playing LSH and WAC but always enjoy "coming home" to GWX.
Now, I would like to enhance GWX by installing different additional Mods, if at all possible. However, I find it difficult to locate the different mods and could use some help.
I'm not looking for every mod that's out there but only for those mods, that will for sure run with GWX. I'd rather have a little less but also, less hastles.
Thanks for everything thus far and looking forward to your replies.
Sincerely, Kapitän

Just to answer some of those left (have not played the game since the GWX3.0 release) :
- Community_units adds a number of cargos IIRC
- Flying Dutchman http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a75/Panzer_Kamerad/smileys/eh.gifErm... http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/3377/easter20egg.gif and all that, ya know. Okay, it's a ghost ship.
- GWX2.0_Moon adds a new resized moon reworked by the great Ichneumon.
- liferaft_1 and _2 a mod made by the pretty skilled Privateer and Thunder, featuring crew leaving their ship when the unit is destroyed. Thunder did the animation work, Privateer took care of the inclusion in the game.
- NKSs_T05.tga new texture for the small merchant
- Real Depth Charge new depth charge sound
- Turm_7B_Historic Tarjak's work IIRC, pack of new - neat-looking :hmm2: - emblems that were used in real life.
- Turm_VIIC_1_Historic ditto
- Unmark ? I think it removes the orange mark on top of your boot when you're underwater.
- Wac Animated Sub Pens Hansolo's work, this cool guy created new U-Boote bunkers featuring new objects in them.

- Community_units: A package of 30+ ships (IIRC) but originally intended for GWX2.1 => Does it also work with GWX3.0 or is it already inlcuded in GWX3.0?
- Real Depth Charge: New depth charge sound; A change of sound file (rids the listener to the repeated rattling of cups and cutlery) => Does it "only" remove the "cup rattling" sound or does it also change the actual DC sound?

- Community_units: A package of 30+ ships (IIRC) but originally intended for GWX2.1 => Does it also work with GWX3.0 or is it already inlcuded in GWX3.0? That is a hard one to answer because many have tried it and for some it works and for others it doesn't. It is safest used solely in GWX2.1 unless your prepared to put the units in one at a time....a lengthy time taking process.
- Real Depth Charge: New depth charge sound; A change of sound file (rids the listener to the repeated rattling of cups and cutlery) => Does it "only" remove the "cup rattling" sound or does it also change the actual DC sound? It is a different sound file (taken from elswhere in the mod actually). Try it and see if you like it. Can be installed via JSGME.
- Unmark: Puts the marker which shows the precise position of your U-boat whilst submerged back into GWX3.0 => If it puts the marker back in, what takes it out in the first place? GWX3.0, the marker is only a tiny file and simple to take out.
- Unofficial_rocket_fix: Fixes the anomaly that prevented late war aircraft from firing rockets at surfaced U-boats => Same as above: What is the GWX3.0 stock or default installation? For some unknown reason the rockets were unable to fre but tweaking the corresponding file (as in said mod) has rectified the problem. It is often not necessary to reinvent the wheel.
Thanks a lot for everything !!!

You'll find them all at Jimbuna's FF page, linky above. Fubar's Sub Skins are spread over several downloadable packs; as are the various oggvorbis packs of Gramophone music.
liferaft_1 and _2 appear to be video files, what you probably want is LifeboatsDebris_v4.7z, which is the mod that adds lifeboats and debris after you successfully attack a ship.

That's correct...the lifeboats v4 is also available from the above link.
I've seen it stated that using GWX 3 we should automatically get renown(I think it was 1500) to start without having to complete the training academy.
Still whenever I start a new career it seems I only have 500 renown.

If you don't partake in training you commence with 500.

Hint: even if you pass the Navigation exam and nothing else, you'll get the full training renown bonus.
Which is nice because once you install GWX, you ain't gonna get any more Excellent scores on the Flak Artillery exam. :O:

Alternatively you can just edit your renown in your Patrols_0.cfg file of your player's career :03:

Yes the water is darker than stock but if you use SH3 Commander you can set the water clarity to maximum (20) which is pretty close to that in stock.

Is there any Hi-res skins for GWX3 Merchants?
Any French warships in the Med in March 1940

There was a skin pack for GWX 2.1 but not for GWX 3.0.

To tell you the truth I don't remember. If they are they should be docked in Morocco and Algeria. I think almost all the warships that patrol the Med are either Italian/German or British/Allied.

I don't really know but I don't think it is possible. Your best chance is Pablo who actually made this skin for 2.1. I suggest you contact him and ask all the questions you have.

Probably because they changed some 3D models in the update. You're right, it's best just to leave it as is.

The skin pack will work with GWX3.0 but all the NTRW skins need to be renamed to NMSTR...and the pack is nearly 1.6GB when unpacked.

Most people have misplaced it, I recently sent it out over at The Lair.
Silly question maybe but do you want the amended/adjusted set of skins?

Okay thanks, I will check there. I just took my highly succesful IXC into the med, and I am looking to at least 1 warship before ending this 100 day patrol.
As a follow up question, are there any French warships at all?

As I recall there is the armed trawler and the DD Bourrasque Class.
I have the BB Strasbourg in one of my installs but it needs scripting in manually before it can be seen/shows itself.
