Intelligence services of Ukraine and Israel have started working, I see steps forward, - Zelensky

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, states that the intelligence services of Ukraine and Israel have started cooperation, but this is not enough.

He stated this at a joint press conference with Guinea-Bissau President Oumar Sissou Embalo in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports with reference to UNIAN.

"Everyone is confused by our relationship. Everyone wants a warmer relationship that exists between our societies. Of course, I'll be honest, I'm satisfied, in recent days we started working. I won't say the details of how our intelligence started working, but I just want to say that after a long pause, I see steps forward," Zelensky said.

"This is not enough today. I believe that Israel is a state that knows deeply and in detail what war and tragedy are. And I think that we should support Ukraine more. We expected this from the beginning of the full-scale invasion," the head of state added.

He said that Ukraine needs help from the political leadership of Israel.

"In the last days it started. The data that our intelligence is discussing, I won't say. But I want to say that it reaffirms what our intelligence knew. We are talking again that about 400 Iranian drones have already been used against the civilian population of Ukraine," Zelensky said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376397

It's definitely not looking good my friends.

First Putin in a meeting with his puppets saying Ukraine is preparing a dirty bomb

In another Status some Russian diplomat is accusing the west for helping Ukraine building this dirty bomb.

Plus all the rest I've read and heard about the last 48 hours gives me the indication..it's not looking good.

Markus3 day war into Ukraine has run 8 months Russia lost the battles of Kyiv, Kharkiv Izyum & are retreating in Kherson. The Moskva was sunk & Kerch Bridge damaged 69,000 Russian soldiers died the next stage of the war will be even more glorious Russian threats say nothing to me Putin has not got the cojones to be a real threat, every card he played only caused in more support for Ukraine and more determination to get rid of those criminals. Putin and his crony regime are losers, am not afraid for them Russia is an irrelevant state in the world, that is their only accomplishment.

You're right he has presented so many threats that no one believe him anymore.

This time I think it's different. Now they are building up a false flag. Didn't they do the same before invading Ukraine-Making up some false flag ?

If it's serious this time-We will soon see some dirty bomb go of near the border between Ukraine and Russia on the Russian side, maybe around Belgorod.

If not-Which I hope then I have been worried without any reason

Ukraine war: Russia troop deployment to Belarus prompts speculation

The warning from Ukraine to Belarus is blunt.

"Your leadership is planning to drag the Belarusian people into a dirty war, to stain them with blood and death," the video released by the Ukrainian military declares.

"If the Belarusian army supports Russian aggression, we will respond… with our entire arsenal of weapons."

The warning comes as Russia is sending thousands of troops back to Belarus, prompting fears the two countries could be planning a joint incursion across Ukraine's northern border.

That would be politically risky for Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko - and Russian forces are already struggling to hold their current lines around the southern city of Kherson and in Donbas in the east.

But the prospect alone is a distraction and a concern for Kyiv as Minsk comes under pressure from Moscow to step-up its support.

Russian anti-war group Stop the Wagons (STW) has claimed responsibility for derailing a train on a Russian railway 15km from the border of Belarus.

The governor of Russia's Belgorod region said on Monday that an explosive device damaged the railway near the village of Novozybkovo. The line is the main rail link between Russia and southern Belarus and is responsible for supply logistics to Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine. Spanning more than 20,000 miles, Russia's railway lines are vulnerable to attack.

Posting a picture of the accident on Telegram, STW said: "The results of this small explosive sabotage will have to be eliminated with a complete re-laying of the rails. And that's great. The war will not pass!"

The U.K. Defense Ministry in its daily intelligence update on Wednesday acknowledged the activist group and said it was at least the sixth incident of sabotage against Russian railway infrastructure claimed by STW since June.

"This is part of a wider trend of dissident attacks against railways in both Russia and Belarus," the ministry said. "The Russian authorities have previously clamped down on STW's online presence."

The group disrupts Russian railways to prevent the transportation of military equipment, fuel, ammunition and other supplies to the frontlines in Ukraine. "The Russia military primarily relies on rail transport for deploying forces to Ukraine, but with a network extending to over 33,000km, largely transiting isolated areas, the system is extremely challenging to secure against physical threats," the ministry added.

"The Russian leadership will be increasingly concerned that even a small group of citizens has been sufficiently opposed to the conflict to resort to physical sabotage." STW claimed responsibility for other railway attacks, including a fallen carriage at the Oktabrsk station of the Kuibyshev railway.

The group also claimed responsibility for an incident in Amur Oblast on the Trans-Siberian Railway in June, according to TrendingNews.

STW's website has instructions on how to block railways using wire while wearing gloves for safety. The website also has instructions on where activists can block railways. It claims that there are a number of fake pages and bots on Telegram that are not affiliated with it, and are likely targets of the FSB, Russia's intelligence agency.

According to STW's Telegram page, the group formed seven months ago.

Commenting on the British Ministry of Defense acknowledging the group, it said: "If someone had told us then that the day would come when the British Ministry of Defense would write about us with a hint that we were a real problem for military supplies...Hell, we would not have believed it."

Ukraine war latest: Russia 'driving its own soldiers to their deaths' in Donbas

Russia is 'driving its own soldiers to their deaths' in the Donbas due to the 'craziness' of the Russian command.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian troops are holding out against repeated attacks near two key towns in the eastern Donbas region.

The most severe fighting is taking place near Avdiivka, outside Donetsk, and Bakhmut, further to the northeast, he said in an evening video address on Wednesday.

"This is where the craziness of the Russian command is most evident. Day after day, for months, they are driving people to their deaths there, concentrating the highest level of artillery strikes," he said.

Mr Zelensky also said there would be good news from the front, but gave no details.

'All roads lead to Crimea': US Army officer details Ukraine plan to strike Russia war blow

Russia has been dealt a devastating blow after a retired US Army officer perfectly pinpointed how Ukraine can liberate the annexed region of Crimea by mid-2023. Last month, Vladimir Putin saw the Kerch Bridge between Crimea and Russia rocked by a shuge explosion following a surprise attack that saw parts of the structure collapse. The peninsula is home to Russia's Black Sea Fleet and numerous military airports and bases, with it also being critical for operational and logistical support of Russia's southern front in Ukraine.

Putin blamed Kyiv and called it a "terrorist attack" and just hours later, Russia fired a number of missiles that smashed into numerous cities in Ukraine - including Kyiv.

But retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, who served as Commanding General in the US Army Europe, believes a huge counter offensive launched by Ukraine against Russia early last month could play a huge part in recapturing Crimea.

He explained how if this continues at pace, Ukrainian troops could push the Russians back to the February 23 line (the day before the invasion started) by the end of the year and could liberate Crimea by next summer.

The retired Lieutenant General told Express.co.uk: "If you imagine a map of Ukraine - think of this counter offensive that started in early September - it has two wings.

Russian President Vladimir Putin risks being challenged by his allies if he attempts to use a nuclear weapon in Ukraine, an expert has claimed. As Russian forces lose ground on the battlefield, concern is growing that Putin will use unconventional means of warfare to avoid a humiliating defeat.

"The first is the one that is opposite Kherson in the south and coming from the west. The other is the one that surprised the Russians that is moving down south eventually, to me, towards Mariupol.

"That red arrow pointing south and the other arrow pointing west to east - both are going to end up outside Crimea.

"All roads lead to Crimea so that means when they get down there, below the line of areas such as Kherson and Melitopal, they will have high margin range when they start hitting Russian bases and facilities in Crimea."

He added: "When they do that, Crimea becomes untenable which is why the attack on the Kerch Bridge was so important, whoever did it.

"If that gets severed again or Russia can't adequately repair it, you are talking about a large number of Russians who would find themselves in a sack in Crimea.

"The first part, where they push the Russians back to the February 23 line, happens by the end of this year and then the Crimea bit by next summer."

Russian forces have come under intense pressure from long-range artillery and rocket fire from advancing Ukrainian troops who began moving in two months ago to reclaim Kherson.

Losing that city would deal another devastating blow to Putin, who last month proclaimed Kherson province and three other partially occupied regions part of Russia.

The potential capture of Kherson could leave thousands of Russian troops trapped on the Dnipro's western bank, subsequently cutting off a straightforward crossing to the east.

Military experts have also said it could bring Russian bases in the annexed Crimea peninsula within range of heavy artillery.

Just days ago, it appeared Ukraine had scored a major victory as hopes Russian forces were starting to relinquish Kherson, when Moscow-appointed occupation authorities began evacuating tens of thousands of residents by ferries to the Dnipro's east bank.

Last month, retired Lieutenant General Hodges told the CEPA Forum in Washington: "Once Ukrainians are able to get HIMARS or other rocket launching systems within range and they start putting a rocket on Russian bases in Crimea, then it is just a matter of time.

"Crimea is the prize. Victory will be when that last Russian soldier walks along that long bridge and the Russian troops are gone from Crimea."

Retired US Lieutenant General Mark Hertling agreed that Ukraine would look to recapture Crimea and while he admitted the battle would be extremely tough, it would have backing from the US.

He said: "If Ukraine decides to go and retake Crimea - and I think they eventually will - the US government has said we will support the actions of Ukraine anywhere they want to go."

But Lieutenant General Hertling acknowledged it would be a "tough fight" for Ukrainian forces to retake the annexed peninsula - largely because of the challenges posed by the terrain.

He explained: "They are limited to just a couple of roads that go over a marshland. It is going to be very difficult from a conventional perspective for the Ukrainian army to get into Crimea."

Britain and the US would be obliterated by 'massive nuclear strikes' rehearsed yesterday under Putin's watchful eye, Russian military expert reveals

Huge Russian nuclear drills watched over by Vladimir Putin were a rehearsal for wiping Britain and America off the map, a state media stooge declared last night.

Colonel Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of Russia’s National Defence magazine, said yesterday's missile, submarine and bomber drills were to demonstrate his country's ability to carry out an overwhelming retaliatory strike if it were ever to come under attack using nukes.

Mr Korotchenko made it clear who the drills were aimed at, telling state TV: 'Who could launch a first nuclear strike on Russia? The US and the UK. I don't know if [French President] Macron is someone who would join this adventure... It is very important that we have shown who our main enemies are and what awaits them.'

If the strike were carried out for real, Mr Korotchenko boasted, Britain would be submerged beneath the Atlantic Ocean and instead of the United States there would be a new naval strait named after Joseph Stalin.

'There is no compromise,' he added. 'The signal has been sent [to the US and UK]. This [should make them] sober up and clear their minds. This is not nuclear blackmail. This is what we would really do [if] we get hit.'

Vladimir Putin watched over yesterday's drills – a yearly preparedness exercise dubbed 'Grom' or 'Thunder' – from Russia's nuclear command centre. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said they were designed to rehearse a 'massive strike'.

The drills involved the test-firing of a Yars land-based intercontinental ballistic missile from the northern Plesetsk spaceport and the launch of a Sineva ICBM by a Russian nuclear submarine in the Barents Sea, just ten miles away from the shores of Nato member Norway.

As part of the exercise, Tu-95 strategic bombers also launched cruise missiles at practice targets.

Footage shows a large nuclear submarine in the water during the test.

The large team were filmed making preparations for the simulation nuclear strikes and following launch protocol as they took part in the annual exercise.

Clips also showed them flicking switches, running up stairs, speaking to each other on radios and monitoring the missiles before they were fired.

As the test began, the Russian Sineva was seen soaring through the air from the water and disappearing into the clouds.

Meanwhile the Yars later shot into the air after switches were flicked and a sound indicated that it was about to go off.

After it was launched, a huge ball of flames engulfed the sky and left a cloud of smoke in its wake as a loud bang was also heard.

The drills were monitored remotely by Putin, who also spoke to some of his military chiefs afterwards.

The manoeuvres followed Putin's warning about his readiness to use 'all means available' to fend off attacks on Russia's territory in a reference to the country's nuclear arsenals.

The Kremlin said that all tasks set for the exercise were fulfilled and all the missiles that were test-fired reached their designated targets.

Such drills involving land, sea and air components have taken place on an annual basis to train the country's nuclear forces and demonstrate their readiness.

The Biden administration said on Tuesday that Russia gave notice it intended to stage routine tests of its nuclear capabilities.

The Pentagon and US State Department said Russia had complied with the terms of the last US-Russia arms control agreement in notifying Washington of the upcoming tests.

It comes amid Moscow's warnings of a purported Ukrainian plot to detonate a radioactive device commonly known as a 'dirty bomb' in a false flag attack to blame Russia.

Ukraine and its allies strongly reject the allegation, and yesterday Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said: 'This is absurd. Allies reject this blatantly false accusation, and Russia must not use false pretexts to escalate the war further.'

Mr Stoltenberg underlined that the 30-nation military organisation 'will not be intimidated or deterred from supporting Ukraine's right to self-defence for as long as it takes.'

Putin told a meeting of intelligence officials from the CIS group of ex-Soviet countries that the West was 'pumping' Ukraine with heavy weapons, adding: 'There are also plans to use a so-called "dirty bomb" for provocations.'

Shoigu today called his counterparts from India and China to convey Moscow's concern about the purported Ukrainian plan.

He voiced Moscow's concern about 'possible Ukrainian provocations involving a "dirty bomb'' in the calls with his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, and China's Wei Fenghe, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

The conversations followed Shoigu's calls with British, French, Turkish and US counterparts on Sunday in which he made the same claim. Britain, France, and the United States rejected it as 'transparently false.'

Poland's government said it is preparing for the Kremlin's potential use of nuclear or chemical weapons after its warnings on Ukraine.

Sejm member Marcin Ociepa told Polish state broadcaster TVP1 the government believes Putin 'may reach for nuclear or chemical weapons' because his country's forces are struggling in Ukraine and that Poland 'must be prepared for all scenarios.'

Polish president Andrzej Duda, prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, national security ministers and leaders of Poland's armed forces met on Tuesday to discuss aid for Ukraine and the course of the war, including Russia's nuclear threats.

The head of Poland's National Security Bureau, Jacek Siewiera, said after the meeting that the leaders discussed the risks and consequences associated with the use of any type of nuclear weapons in light of the changing characteristics of the war as well as the approaching winter.

Despite the Western dismissal of the Russian claims, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov insisted that 'we have the information that there is an ongoing preparation in Ukraine for such a terror attack'.

'We will continue to energetically inform the global community about what we know to persuade it to take action to prevent such irresponsible action by the regime in Kyiv,' Peskov told reporters.

Moscow also took its accusation to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday, voicing its concerns during a closed-door meeting.

Russia has not made public the evidence that it asserts it has, but says it has prepared its troops to work under conditions of nuclear contamination.

Its deputy UN ambassador, Dmitry Polyansky, told reporters after the Council meeting that it had passed intelligence information to Western counterparts with the 'necessary level of clearance'.

Britain's Deputy UN Ambassador, James Kariuki, called the allegations 'pure Russian misinformation of the kind we've seen many times before'.

Russia targeted more than 40 villages around Ukraine over the past day, Ukrainian officials said yesterday, killing at least two people and sustaining the terror that forces people into air raid shelters each night.

Russian forces launched five rockets, 30 air strikes and more than 100 multiple-launch rocket system attacks on Ukrainian targets, the Ukrainian armed forces general staff said.

A Ukrainian official reported that a Russian strike hit a gas station in the city of Dnipro, killing two people, including a pregnant woman.

The governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Valentyn Reznichenko, said four of the wounded were hospitalised.

Mykolaiv, a southern port city near the war's frontline, is among the places where residents have lined up to receive rations of bread and canned food as increases in food prices and losses of income add to the war-time burdens of low-income households in Ukraine.

Several buildings and neighborhoods were struck in Mykolaiv on Tuesday, though it was still unclear if there were any casualties, according to local authorities.

Missiles continued early yesterday morning.

The sole food distribution point in Mykolaiv allows each person to receive free bread once every three days. Many must walk long distances to collect the essential food items for their family.

Finland Will Allow NATO to Place Nuclear Weapons on Border With Russia

In a move that could risk infuriating Russia, nuclear weapons could possibly be positioned in Finland if the country's application to join NATO is approved, according to a report from a Finnish newspaper.

Both Finland and Sweden submitted applications to join NATO in May, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to the Helsinki-based newspaper Iltalehti, the bill regarding potential NATO membership the Finnish government will put before parliament doesn't include any opt-outs for nuclear weapons.

Speaking to the paper, defense sources said Finland's foreign and defense ministers, Pekka Haavisto and Antti Kaikkonen, gave a "commitment" to NATO in July that they wouldn't seek "restrictions or national reservations" if Helsinki's application is accepted.

Foreign policy insiders told Iltalehti this means NATO nuclear weapons could transit through, or be based on, Finnish territory. Additionally, there are no restrictions on establishing NATO bases in the country.

The U.S. already has around 100 nuclear weapons in Europe, positioned in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey according to the Federation of American Scientists.

Britain and France, both NATO members, also maintain their own independent nuclear arsenals.

Earlier this month, the Polish government said it had held discussions with the U.S. government about hosting U.S. nuclear weapons, though this hasn't been confirmed by Washington.

Polish President Andrzej Duda claimed there is a "potential opportunity" for his country to engage in "nuclear sharing."

According to its website, NATO is a "nuclear alliance," which uses its nuclear arsenal to "preserve peace, prevent coercion and deter aggression."

The importance of a nuclear deterrent was confirmed in NATO's 2022 Strategic Concept, adopted by the alliance at its Madrid summit in June.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed membership applications from Finland and Sweden in May, describing the move as a "historic moment" for the alliance.

"I warmly welcome the requests by Finland and Sweden to join NATO," he said. "You are our closest partners. All allies agree on the importance of NATO enlargement. We all agree that we must stand together, and we all agree that this is a historic moment which we must seize. This is a good day at a critical moment for our security."

Finland and Sweden's NATO applications have already been approved by the parliaments of 28 of the alliance's 30 member states, with Hungary and Turkey the only two remaining to vote on the matter.

The main stumbling block is Turkey, with Ankara saying it will only approve the new members if they clamp down on Kurdish separatists, which it regards as terrorists.

Speaking on October 1, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said: "We will maintain our principled and determined stance on this issue until the promises made to our country are kept."

NATO is currently conducting a nuclear exercise, called "Steadfast Noon," which began on October 17 and will continue until October 30.

The drills involve around 60 aircraft, including U.S. B-52 bombers which are capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

Separately, Finnish seismologists recorded a series of five underwater explosions on Thursday and Friday, the origins of which are unclear.

Speaking to Newsweek earlier this month, Natalia Galibarenko, Ukraine's ambassador to NATO, predicted the alliance will end up gifting combat aircraft to Kyiv.

Newsweek has reached out to the Finnish and Russian foreign ministries for comment.

Ukraine war: Russian tactics on eastern front 'crazy', says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russian commanders of "craziness" in their efforts to capture the eastern town of Bakhmut.

The town - which sits in the Donetsk region and had a pre-war population of 70,000 - has been the centre of Russian attacks for months.

Despite a looming Ukrainian advance on the key city of Kherson, Mr Zelensky said the attacks continued in force.

Taking the town would be a symbolic victory for Russia.

"This is where the craziness of the Russian command is most evident," Mr Zelensky said in his nightly address from Kyiv. "Day after day, for months, they are driving people to their deaths there, concentrating the highest level of artillery strikes."

Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to Mr Zelensky, said that on one day, Russian forces launched eight separate attacks on Bakhmut before lunchtime and had been pushed back on each occasion.

The city sits on a main road leading to the Ukrainian-held cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. While Russia is struggling elsewhere in Ukraine, its forces have made progress around Bakhmut in recent weeks.

Analysts say the city has little military value in itself, though if it were to fall, it would bring other cities back within range of Russian artillery and help change the narrative of a conflict in which Moscow's forces have been gradually retreating.

Regular Russian troops in the region are reportedly being supported by Wagner paramilitary mercenaries. The group's founder, Yevgeniy Prigozhin, is said to want to capture the town as a political prize.

Belarus currently does not have strike group that would be properly equipped for offensive, - Defence Intelligence

Belarus conducts personnel training in order to divert Ukraine’s attention and forces from the east and south.

This was stated by the representative of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Andrii Cherniak, Censor.NET informs.

According to him, since April, Lukashenko regularly tries to avoid an open invasion of Ukraine, even though he became a participant in this war a long time ago when he gave his territory to Russia.

"Of course, there is a potential danger for Ukraine from the side of Belarus. Attack UAVs are launched from the territory of the Republic of Belarus, which Russia purchased from Iran, and MiG-31K aircraft, which can carry "Kinjal" missiles, have been moved there," Cherniak said.

Meanwhile, Russia is sending recently mobilized citizens to Belarus. The latter also do not have proper weapons or equipment.

"They are brought in by rail. At the same time, tanks and armored personnel carriers repaired in Belarus are sent, on the contrary, to Russia," explained the representative of military intelligence of Ukraine. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376510

Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki: "Ukraine needs money and weapons, not "plans""

Ukraine now needs financial and military support to survive the war unleashed by Russia. However, some EU leaders prefer to make "plans" for the future.

This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Censor.NET reports with reference to his interview with Fakt and Bild.

Moravetsky noted that he came to the interview from the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which was held in Berlin. He emphasized that the issue of restoration is important, however, in his opinion, support for Ukraine is currently more urgent.

"We will focus on a very important topic: how we will rebuild Ukraine. But we have to solve an even more important question: how to get Ukraine enough weapons to end this war? It is good to talk about future support, "Marshall plans", etc.," the politician said.

The Polish Prime Minister noted that Russia destroys power plants and heating networks in Ukraine so that the civilian population freezes in winter. Therefore, he called on the EU leader to help now.

"Help is needed now. Ukraine needs money and weapons, not 'plans,'" Moravetskyi said.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of Poland added that the most reliable partners of Ukraine in the EU remain the countries of the eastern flank: from Finland to the Baltic States, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania. According to him, these countries "will feel threatened directly by Putin."

Also, Moravetsky again criticized Germany for insufficient aid to Ukraine. He believes that Germany, as the richest country in Europe and one of the largest arms exporters in the world, could do much more to protect European values.

"I got the impression that some EU leaders would prefer things to be the old way again. According to the idea that the war can be ended with the defeat of Ukraine," the Polish Prime Minister emphasized. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376523

^ If the drone attacks in the north of the Ukraine are originating from Belarus, then it's a safe bet that Iranians are also there controlling these drones. Since the drone attacks are directed against Ukraine's civilian population and infrastructure, This makes them both enemy combatants and participants in this war of aggression against the Ukraine.

I think they should be treated as such. I don't think Iran's oil fields could withstand drone or cruise missile attacks either. :yep::hmmm:

Main involvement of those mobilized from Russian Federation in combat zone is expected approximately in 1.5-2 weeks, - General Staff

Part of the mobilized will be directed to the additional staffing of units, primarily those that suffered significant losses in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksii Hromov, Censor.NET informs with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

"Despite the Kremlin's statement about the end of mobilization, in practice mobilization measures continue. Only public measures regarding conscription have been suspended, while the process of serving summonses to the places of residence or work of conscripts continues. The main involvement of those mobilized in the combat zone is expected approximately in 1.5-2 weeks, probably to contain our actions in certain areas of the front, as well as to evenly strengthen other areas of the front," he explained.

According to Gromov, part of the mobilized will be directed to the additional staffing of units, primarily those that suffered significant losses in Ukraine. For the rest of the mobilized, it is planned to form new units, in particular, tanks, motorized rifles, artillery regiments, etc.

He noted that at the same time, the mobilization of students of various forms of education led to an increase in social tension in the so-called "LPR".

"Because of this, Pasichnyk issued an order on October 11 to release a separate category of citizens from military service. However, due to the position of the military, it is planned to demobilize students only within two to three months, replacing them with newly mobilized ones," Gromov explained.

He added that the so-called "DPR" is preparing to call up more than 300 prisoners for military service. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376542

I wouldn't expect so but all cards should be on the table. We are supplying weapons to the Ukraine the same as Iran is with Russia. If Iranian operators are operating the drones, then Iran is directly involved.

I'm not an expert on this but I believe Belarus and Iran are enemy combatants and should be considered as such and dealt with.

World faces most dangerous decade since WW2 - Putin

The world faces "probably the most dangerous" decade since the end of World War Two, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned.

In a wide-ranging speech in Moscow, he sought to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a move that has left his country internationally isolated.

Mr Putin also accused the West of nuclear blackmail against Russia to force allies to turn away from Moscow.

The West has denounced recent veiled nuclear threats by the Kremlin.

Earlier this week, the Nato military alliance condemned unsubstantiated claims by Russia that Ukraine might use a "dirty bomb" - conventional explosives laced with radioactive material.

Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said alliance members "reject this allegation" and "Russia must not use it as a pretext for escalation".

Speaking at the annual Valdai forum, Mr Putin said: "We're at a historical frontier. Ahead is probably the most dangerous, unpredictable and at the same time important decade since the end of World War Two."

He described the current geopolitical situation in the world as "revolutionary", saying the West was no more able to be in charge - but was "desperately trying" to do so.

"The future world order is being formed before our eyes," the Russian leader stressed.

And he again accused the West led by the US of trying to "destroy" Russia, providing no evidence to back up his claims.

Russians are not going to retreat from Kherson, they staged information attack so that we could transfer troops there, - Zelensky

The Russian occupiers are not going to retreat from Kherson, even though they organized an information operation so that Ukraine would transfer troops there from other directions.

As reported by Censor.NET with reference to LIGA.net, the head of state said this in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

The president emphasized that Ukraine will definitely liberate Kherson, although it will be difficult because the Ukrainian command values people.

"We can't treat people like Russia, lives are important to us, we can't say: go there and die. That's why we're looking for ways, we're asking for more armored vehicles to save more people," Zelensky said.

He noted that he does not see the Russians fleeing from Kherson - the head of state called the rumors about the enemy's possible retreat from the city an information attack to divert Ukrainian units from other dangerous directions.

"They are not ready to leave Kherson, but they know that if we succeed, they will be encircled. We are working on this. Their most trained soldiers remain on the ground, no one has left," the president concluded. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376608

Russians do not want to stop. They have only one plan: to occupy all of Ukraine, - Zelensky

The Russian Federation tends to use ultimatums. It will be ready for a real dialogue only when it feels complete geopolitical isolation.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

"They (the Russians. - Ed.) do not want to stop, they did not want to stop from the very beginning. Their mission is only one. They have no other plan - B or C. They have only one plan: to occupy the entire territory of Ukraine," he said Zelensky

He also emphasized that all statements from the very beginning regarding negotiations are not about dialogue, but about ultimatums.

"If you want to talk, you talk. You can't talk with weapons in your hands," the president is convinced.

Zelensky recalled that he had tried to negotiate with the Russian Federation since the beginning of his presidency, but Russia only spoke in the language of ultimatums and did not make contact.

"Don't you want to meet (this is about the wishes of Russian President Putin. - Ed.)? OK. Do you think that you and I are not on the same level, that you are higher, that you are the president of a large country? OK, let's talk on the phone. Don't you want to be alone? OK , then give us someone to talk. It's normal for me, I don't consider myself a special person because I'm the president. I am a person. I don't care about the level of dialogue. I am ready to communicate, and I really wanted to," the head of state noted, adding that his only meeting with Putin was in December 2019 as part of the Norman summit in Paris, after which the leader of the aggressor state did not fulfill all his obligations.

Zelensky emphasizes that Russians will be ready for a real dialogue only when they feel the complete geopolitical isolation of their country.

"They (Russians. - Ed.) will be ready to speak when they understand, firstly, that they are alone on the geopolitical map of the world, and secondly, that they cannot occupy us," the head of state added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376648

President Volodymyr Zelensky says Russia has launched more than 30 drone attacks on Ukraine in just two days.

He added that in total, Moscow had also carried out some 4,500 missile strikes and over 8,000 air raids.

Speaking from Kyiv and standing beside what appeared to be a downed Iranian Shahed drone, Mr Zelensky pledged to "clip the wings" of Moscow's air power.

Western officials believe Iran has supplied a large number of drones to Russia, but Moscow and Tehran deny it.

It comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Russia's aggressive use of drones "appalling".

The top US diplomat accused Russian commanders of using the devices to "kill Ukrainian civilians and destroy the infrastructure they rely on for electricity, for water, for heat" during a visit to the Canadian capital Ottawa.

"Canada and the United States will keep working with our allies and partners to expose, to deter, and to counter Iran's provision of these weapons," Mr Blinken said.

'Severely undermanned' Russian units at 6pc of normal fighting strength

"Severely depleted" Russian Army companies in the Kherson sector have been fighting with between six and eight men each, when they should be formed of around 100 soldiers, the MOD has said.

In its daily update, the UK Ministry of Defence added: "In the last six weeks there has been a clear move from Russian ground forces to transition to a long-term, defensive posture on most areas of the front line in Ukraine.

"This is likely due to a more realistic assessment that the severely undermanned, poorly trained force in Ukraine is currently only capable of defensive operations.

"Even if Russia succeeds in consolidating long-term defensive lines in Ukraine, its operational design will remain vulnerable.

"To regain the initiative, it will need to regenerate higher quality, mobile forces which are capable of dynamically countering Ukrainian breakthroughs and conducting their own large-scale offensive operations."

Electricity will return if we recognize occupied territories as Russian, - Medvedev

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmytro Medvedev, said that Ukraine will be able to restore normal electricity supply if it recognizes the occupied territories as belonging to the Russian Federation.

In fact, Medvedev issued an ultimatum that Ukraine would fix the electricity supply situation only by recognizing the occupied regions as Russian.

There are 31,000 companies controlled by Russia operating in European Union - European Commission

According to the calculations of the European Commission, almost 31,000 companies whose beneficial owners come from Russia operate on the territory of the EU.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to "European Truth".

The majority of European companies associated with the Russian Federation mainly work in real estate, construction and hotel business, as well as in the financial and energy sectors. At the same time, the owners of 1,400 companies were recently sanctioned.

The European Commission report notes that some oligarchs may hide their ownership or control of companies through intermediary companies registered in third countries or local nominal shareholders.

The European Commission notes that the proper implementation of the EU's asset freezing measures requires effective compliance with the rules of transparency of beneficial owners. In addition, the agency advocates, among other things, improved information exchange and "adequate" detection and monitoring of assets hidden from tax authorities.

According to a report by the EU's executive body, it is still relatively easy to set up shell companies within the bloc, which are used to "move hundreds of millions of euros through opaque transactions".

With the help of shell companies, criminals could not only hide the origin and destination of funds, but also the actual beneficiary of such transactions. This money can be used both for personal enrichment and for the destabilization of entire countries.

"Thus, exposing illegal money flows not only contributes to the protection of democracy and the security of EU citizens, but also helps fight the influence of autocracies," the European Commission's report says. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376845

An American who volunteered to fight against Russia in Ukraine described the carnage he saw on the front lines — saying the battle for Ukrainians is against "pure evil."
"Anybody in the West that asks Ukraine to just do peace talks, they need to go through these villages. They need to see what's been done to these people," said the man, who wants to be known only by his call sign, Elvis.

"This is nothing like any conflict in the past 70 to 80 years," he told CBS News. "This war is not sustainable, for either side."
Originally from Tennessee, Elvis fought in Ukraine because he was horrified by Russia's invasion of the country. While there, he said he repeatedly witnessed Russian forces using white phosphorus munitions — something Russia previously denied.
"It comes down extremely slow, but there's nothing you can do, and everything it touches just incinerates," Elvis said, describing one incident where he witnessed between 20 and 30 Ukrainian fighters "burning alive" before some committed suicide to end their suffering.
"A lot of guys have suicide pistols, and you'd hear them scream, and then they would say goodbye and then blow their own heads off," he said.

What is white phosphorus, and what does it mean that Russia may be using it in Ukraine? (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/what-is-white-phosphorus-russia-ukraine/?ftag=YHF4eb9d17)
White phosphorus is a wax-like chemical substance that ignites instantly when it comes into contact with oxygen. Its primary function in weaponry is to burn brightly, and it is used in incendiary munitions by militaries around the world, including the United States, often to illuminate targets as part of tracer munitions at night.
But it can be extremely dangerous when used as a weapon, causing deep burns, even through bone.

"There are certain weapons that I've seen used on the battlefield in Ukraine that — okay, it's war, I get it — but there's certain weapons that are used that, if the rest of world could see what they cause, what that looks like when someone dies because of that, there would be a lot bigger outcry," Elvis said.

The fighter said he has been traumatized by his experience on the battlefield, and that he's worried one of his fellow fighters may commit suicide because of what they went through together.

But he believes Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion is a righteous war. And he wants more to be done to stop the conflict.
"If China invaded the U.S., hypothetically, leveled Los Angeles, leveled Seattle, Portland, massacred thousands, do you think the U.S. would just sue for peace? No," he said.

Havinf friring platforms is one thing. I wonder how the logistical supply situation and -chain for replacement ammo/missiles is? Or on other words: who can fire more: the Russians more drones, or the Ukrainians more intercepting missiles?

On a side note, a German alliance of defence contractors has started live firing tests for laser-firing anti-air cannons specifically aimed at defending against missiles and drones. The technology is still long time away from being ready for real action, but it illustrates where the voyage is going. For the Ukrainian war is will stay irrelevant, though. Also, it may not need ammo, but is dependent on stable high power energy supply - and that is where such systems can be cut off again, like running out of ammo.

The Ukrainian authorities have warned people in the capital Kyiv to expect longer power cuts, lasting more than four hours, because of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

Rolling blackouts are hitting not only Kyiv but also central regions of Ukraine, including the city of Dnipro.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said about four million people were affected but "shelling will not break us".

This month Russia launched dozens of missiles and Iranian-made drones.

Ukraine's energy infrastructure is being pounded by the air attacks - Mr Zelensky says about a third of the country's electric power stations have been destroyed.

The Kyiv region has lost 30% of its power capacity, the private energy company DTEK says, meaning "unprecedented" power cuts will be necessary.

"Unfortunately the scale of restrictions is significant, much larger than it was before," said DTEK director Dmytro Sakharuk.

The power cuts have meant curbs on the use of street lights and electric-powered public transport, besides the discomfort in people's homes.

The EU and other international allies of Kyiv have condemned the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure - attacks that Ukraine sees as war crimes.

Removal of Potemkin’s remains from Kherson may mean that Russian Federation intends to speed up its withdrawal from area, - British intelligence

The removal of the remains of Grigory Potemkin, as well as the monuments to Suvorov and Ushakov, from the temporarily occupied Kherson underscores the importance that Putin attaches to the historical justification for the military invasion of Ukraine.

As Censor.NET informs, this is stated in the report of the British intelligence on the morning of October 29.

The intelligence reports that on October 27, collaborator Volodymyr Saldo stated that more than 70,000 people had left the city of Kherson.

On October 26, he also announced that Russia had removed the remains of the famous 18th-century Russian statesman Prince Grigory Potemkin from his grave in the Kherson Cathedral east of the Dnipro.

"In Russian national identity, Potemkin is closely associated with the Russian conquest of Ukrainian lands in the 18th century and underlines the importance that Putin almost certainly attaches to the alleged historical justification for the invasion," the British intelligence report said.

According to the British, the symbolic removal of Potemkin and the mass flight from Kherson probably indicate Russia's intention to accelerate its withdrawal from the area. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3376938

Russia-Ukraine war latest: Moscow accuses British Navy of Black Sea and Nord Stream attacks

The Russian army on Saturday accused the UK of blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines last month, as well as helping to attack its Black Sea Fleet in Crimea on Saturday morning, directly accusing a leading Nato member of sabotaging critical Russian infrastructure.

The defence ministry did not provide any evidence for its claim but said that, "According to available information, representatives of this unit of the British Navy took part in the planning, provision and implementation of a terrorist attack in the Baltic Sea on September 26 this year - blowing up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines."

It said the same British military specialists had also helped Ukraine plan a drone attack on Moscow's Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning. Russian officials have described that attack as "massive" but the extent of the damage remains unclear.

Britain's defence ministry later posted a statement on Twitter that did not mention specific claims but said:

"To detract from their disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defence is resorting to peddling false claims of an epic scale. This invented story, says more about arguments going on inside the Russian Government than it does about the west."

Russia has previously blamed the West for the explosions last month that ruptured the Russian-built Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines on the bed of the Baltic Sea.

But Russia has not previously made specific accusations about who was responsible for the damage to the pipelines, which was the key route for Russian gas supplies to Europe.

Many in the West suspected that Russia was to blame for the attack. Both Russia and the US denied involvement.

Six years ago, the Russian navy formed a new army corps whose job it would be to defend Kaliningrad, Russia’s geographically separate outpost on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania.

This year, when the war in Ukraine began to go badly for Russia, the Kremlin yanked the 11th Army Corps from Kaliningrad and sent it into Ukraine. Where the Ukrainian army quickly destroyed it.

The formation, deployment and destruction of the 11th Army Corps tell a story that’s bigger than the tragic tale of Russia’s war in Ukraine. The corps, sandwiched between two NATO countries along a strategic sea, was supposed to give Russian forces an advantage in a global war.

Instead, it became cannon fodder for a Ukrainian army that, on paper, was weaker than the Russian army was. Now Kaliningrad is all but defenseless, and the threat the oblast’s troops once posed to NATO … has evaporated.

How can Russia be among others in G20 if it deliberately works for famine on several continents - Zelenskiy. VIDEO

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy traditionally addressed Ukrainians in evening of October 29.

As informs Censor.NЕТ it was stated in Volodymyr Zelenskiy official Facebook.

"Today Russia made a rather predictable statement - a statement that they are finally disrupting the grain export initiative.

But in fact, this is not their decision today. Russia began to deliberately aggravate the food crisis back in September, when it blocked the movement of ships with our food.

From September to the present day, there are 176 ships in the grain corridor that cannot pass along their route. Some grain carriers have been waiting for more than three weeks. This is an absolutely deliberate Russian blockade. It is an absolutely transparent intention of Russia to return the threat of large-scale famine for Africa and Asia.

Today, more than two million tons of food is at sea. This means that access to food for more than seven million consumers has actually worsened.

All partners see this artificial queue of ships. They see what Russia did to disrupt the grain initiative. They see that even ships with grain, which are contracted under the UN Food Program for the poorest countries, do not receive a guaranteed opportunity to pass through the sea route.

Russia is doing everything to ensure that millions of Africans, millions of people in the Middle East and South Asia find themselves in conditions of artificial famine or at least a severe price crisis. Ukraine has been and can continue to be one of the guarantors of global food security," the statement reads. Source: https://censor.net/en/v3377042

PMC "Wagner" demonstrates approach to recruiting new recruits that prioritizes quantity, not experience or quality - British intelligence

British intelligence suggests that Wagner’s PMC, whose fighters are widely recruited to participate in hostilities on the Russian side, is paying less and less attention to the quality of fighters it hires, seeking to recruit as many as possible.

As Censor.NET reports, this is stated in the review of the British Ministry of Defense on the war in Ukraine dated October 30.

The review recalls that the Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, who organized Wagner's PMC, actually admitted the other day that they have changed their selection criteria and are now recruiting, including those convicted of crimes and people with serious illnesses such as HIV and hepatitis C.

Intelligence notes that if in previous conflicts, where these mercenaries were recruited, Wagner's PMC maintained fairly demanding criteria for the selection of recruits and most of them had previously been soldiers of the regular Russian army, now the recruitment of prisoners with serious illnesses "underlines the approach in which the priority is the number, not experience or quality."

Prigozhin recently spoke about plans to create a 200-kilometer defensive "Wagner Line" in the east of Ukraine. This would require significant labor resources. Therefore, it is quite possible that some of the new recruits from among the prisoners will initially be involved in the construction of defense lines," the intelligence says. One upon a time here in America President Obama told the country. He and the Demos would create thousands of shovel ready jobs. Get people out of jail, off the streets and make the streets and highways of America great again. It never happened. So if Vlad can get his country's parasites over there digging trenches and swinging shovels in hand to hand combat. Instead of rotting in a jail cell. What's the problem? He could dye their hair all the colors of the rainbow and Ukraine soldiers would welcome them with open arms. And keep NATO from the inevitable until I can get to France Damnit.

Call the Ukrainians what you want but just like the original nazis, it is the Russians who are the foreign invaders here, the brutal occupiers of a peaceful neighboring country, not Ukraine. Russia. No amount of ham handed, weak excuses or ridiculous Kremlin attempts to blame the victim can hide that basic fact.

Nor should it be forgotten that Russia had absolutely no problem at all with the nazis right up until 1941. Did they not feast upon Poland together? Was it not Russians who executed thousands of Polish civilians and prisoners of war in the Katyn forest?

The nickname "Putler" is increasingly accurate. Under his rule Russia becomes more like the nazis every day. You should get rid of him before he burns your country to the ground like hitler did to Germany.

The Russian Black Sea Fleet May Have Lost Another Flagship

The Ukrainian navy for months has been hunting the Russian navy frigate Admiral Makarov. It seems the Ukrainians finally got a shot at the 409-foot, missile-armed vessel in her home port of Sevastopol, in Russian-occupied Crimea.

The Ukrainian government on Saturday released dramatic videos apparently depicting a successful nighttime strike on Makarov or her sister ship Admiral Essen by at least one unmanned surface vessel.

The speedboat-size USV, possibly packing hundreds of pounds of explosives, dodged Russian helicopters and small boats and drove directly at the frigate, approaching to within a few feet before the video feed went dead.

There aren’t yet any photos or videos circulating online that can confirm whether the frigate suffered any damage. In the best case, her crew blew up the drone boat before the drone boat blew up them. In the worst case, Makarov or Essen suffered the kind of waterline damage that quickly can sink a ship. To say nothing of any fires that might have resulted from the blast.

The daring robotic raid is history repeating itself. Makarov became the flagship of the depleted Russian Black Sea Fleet in April after Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and shore-based missile crews worked together to sink the previous flagship, the 612-foot cruiser Moskva.

Even if Makarov remains afloat—and that’s a distinct possibility—the Ukrainians still can count the nighttime strike as a win. There are reports of other Black Sea Fleet ships suffering damage in the raid. And to avoid future USV attacks, the Russians either will have to devote significantly more resources to protecting Sevastopol, or pull the Black Sea Fleet’s three dozen or so surviving vessels from Crimea.

The Ukrainian navy has been shockingly successful, considering it no longer has any big ships. In the early hours of the initial Russian bombardment on Feb. 23, the crew of Hetman Sahaidachny, the Ukrainian navy’s flagship and only large surface combatant, scuttled the frigate at its moorings in Odesa, Ukraine’s strategic port on the western Black Sea.

For the first two months of Russia’s wider war on Ukraine, the Russians dominated the Black Sea. Sailing and flying with impunity, they captured tiny Snake Island, 80 miles south of Odesa, and—using the island plus some gas platforms they’d captured from Ukraine as bases for air-defenses and surveillance gear—enforced a blockade of Odesa that effectively cut off Ukraine’s vital grain exports.

The Black Sea Fleet was poised to attempt an amphibious landing around Odesa. Capturing the port would complete Russia’s conquest of Ukraine’s Black Sea coast and cut off the country from the sea, permanently strangling its economy.

Russian forces meanwhile captured or scattered the rest of the Ukrainian navy’s ships, including one landing ship and a clutch of armored patrol boats. When the Ukrainians struck back, they did so with land-based missiles, UAVs and USVs.

The tide began to turn on March 23, when a Ukrainian Tochka ballistic missile hit the Black Sea Fleet landing ship Saratov while she was pierside in the occupied port of Berdyansk. The explosion sank Saratov, damaged at least one other landing ship and underscored the danger Russian ships might face in a direct assault on Odesa.

Then, on April 13, a Ukrainian navy anti-ship battery put two Neptune missiles into the side of the Russian cruiser Moskva, eventually sinking the 612-foot vessel.

In a single strike, the Ukrainians deprived the Black Sea Fleet of its main air-defense ship with her S-300 long-range surface-to-air missiles. Desperate to preserve their surviving large warships—in particular, the two Admiral Grigorovich-class frigates including Makarov—fleet commanders pulled back the bigger ships 80 miles from the Ukrainian coast.

That exposed the rest of the Black Sea Fleet—in particular, support ships that can’t effectively defend themselves—to attack by Ukraine’s missiles and drones. “Russia’s resupply vessels have minimum protection in the western Black Sea,” the U.K. Defense Ministry stated.

Ukraine meanwhile reinforced its Neptune battery with U.S.-made Harpoon missiles, compounding the risk to Russian ships in the western Black Sea. The missileers coordinated with drone operators flying Turkish-made TB-2 drones to hunt down and sink several of the Black Sea Fleet’s Raptor patrol boats and landing craft.

In early May there were rumors a Ukrainian missile had struck Makarov. That turned out to be untrue. But a Harpoon did hit and sink the support ship Vsevolod Bobrov while she made a supply run to Snake Island on May 12.

Ukrainian missiles also struck at least one of the gas platforms the Russians were using for observation. Ukrainian drones, fighters and artillery bombarded Snake Island, rendering the treeless rock uninhabitable.

The Russian garrison fled the island on May 31. A week later, Ukrainian commandos hoisted a Ukrainian flag. Snake Island’s liberation signaled to the Ukrainian merchant marine that the western Black Sea was safe for commerce.

Odesa was still under blockade—and would remain so until Turkey brokered an end to the port blockage in late July—but ships now could get grain out of Ukraine via canals connecting small river ports near the Romanian border to the western Black Sea.

The river route might regain its previous significance in the wake of last night’s Sevastopol raid. The Kremlin announced it was ending its agreement with Kyiv to allow big grain ships to sail from Odesa.

The Russians aren’t acting from a position of strength. Unable to replace the Black Sea Fleet’s losses as long as Turkey controls the Bosphorous Strait joining the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, Russian commanders have focused on protecting what remains of the fleet. Ships hug the Crimean coast, staying inside the range of land-based aircraft and S-400 surface-to-air missiles.

But the Ukrainian drone boats struck the Black Sea Fleet well inside that protective umbrella. Between the ballistic and anti-ship missiles and airborne and seaborne drones, the Ukrainian armed forces have plenty of ways of sinking Russian ships.

The Black Sea Fleet isn’t safe in the western Black Sea. It isn’t safe in Sevastopol. The only place it might be safe is the only place where it’s totally irrelevant to the wider war: in ports in Russia proper, tied up pierside and closely guarded around the clock.

Kremlin has begun 'active discussions' on who will replace Putin, says Ukraine spy chief

Vladimir Putin is unlikely to last until the end of the war in Ukraine, with "active discussions" happening in Russia over who will replace him, the eastern neighbour's spy chief has claimed. The comments come from Major General Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine's head of intelligence, as Russia's ruling class grow frustrated with Putin's invasion. Russian troops are now fleeing large parts of eastern Ukraine as the opposition continue their fierce counter offensive strategy, with a focus on recapturing the city of Kherson.

Some 40,000 Russian troops are regrouping around the region and according to Major General Budanov, it includes some of the "most trained and most capable Russian units".

He believes Kherson could be retaken by the end of next month and added that a counter-offensive to recapture Crimea could happen next year as Ukraine continues to make progress against opposition forces.

The spy chief also believes the war started by Putin could lead to the Russian President's own downfall.

Major General Budanov told The War Zone: "It's unlikely that he survives it. And currently, there are active discussions happening in Russia about who'd be there to replace him."

He also claimed the continued attack from Russia on Ukraine's energy infrastructure was damaging but not "critical".

The intelligence boss also refused to confirm or deny whether Ukraine was responsible for the attack on the Kerch Bridge in Crimea earlier this month.

It was seen as inflicting a devastating blow against Putin as it is the only bridge linking Russia and Crimea, which is critical for Russian supply lines.

The comments from the spy chief come with two former army officers warning Putin's reign of power and destruction in Russia could be brought to a thunderous end from within Moscow over his disastrous war in Ukraine.

Russia has been hit by scores of devastating losses in the battlefield and combined with the Ukrainian counter offensive efforts pushing opposition troops backwards, Putin's war strategy is coming under serious scrutiny.

There has also been widespread speculation Russia is quickly running out of weapons during the war, while his partial mobilisation of troops saw thousands of Russians attempt to flee the country.

Colonel Richard Kemp, a retired British Army officer who served for nearly 30 years, told Express.co.uk: "There are definitely rumblings among the political elites in Moscow and dissent among some of his close military allies.

"They and politicians in Russia are making very unusual public dissent. It is very possible some of the political elites in Moscow might be planning to get rid of Putin and that is a very distinct possibility.

"You can't say it will happen and I know it's not easy, but I think it is certainty a likelihood."

Retired US General Ben Hodges, the former Commanding Officer of the US Army Europe, warned there is a "power struggle going on inside the Kremlin" with many becoming increasingly unhappy with Putin.

He also believes there is a "widening gap" between the Russian Genral Staff and Putin, with support fast plummeting for the President.

General Hodges told Express.co.uk: "There is a significant power struggle going on inside the Kremlin. You have people that are even more ultra-nationalist and hawkish than Putin that are unhappy with how it's going.

"When you go below that, there does seem to be a widening gap between the general staff and Putin himself.

"I don't think Putin trusts his generals much anymore and that's why they have finally found Sergei Surovikin, whose two redeeming qualities seem to be brutality and loyalty.

"You can't conceal this from the general population forever - the number of casualties, the fact this is going to continue, the impact of sanctions.

"There is a large percentage of the population that think this is great and were cheering the recent missile strikes on Ukraine, but I'm under no illusion there is going to be a massive uprising in Russia, and I don't think Putin can count on unbridled support any longer."

The Ukrainian Air Force has chosen a group of pilots that can move to the US & start training on U.S. planes (F-16 & F-15).

The pilots are “young, promising, proficient in English & with combat experience”

The draft budget approved by the US Congress has $100 mln for training.

Russia lost the opportunity for peace negotiations with the civilized world. The only option that awaits her is a tribunal at which the aggressors must bear responsibility for the war against Ukraine.

Moscow is hoping to demoralise Ukrainians to plead for peace

Moscow would like this latest wave of Russian missile strikes to be seen as a punitive response to Ukraine’s drone attack on Russian military targets in Crimea on Saturday.

The Kremlin sees this as a warning: you dare to hit us in Crimea? This is what you can expect in response.

But there is a clear pattern emerging in recent weeks in this war. The more setbacks Russia’s army faces on the battlefield the more its commanders punish Ukraine’s civilian population.

With winter just around the corner Moscow is hoping to so demoralise Ukrainians that they plead with their government to sue for peace - on Russia’s terms.

So far, that’s unlikely to happen. But there is still a huge amount of damage and suffering that Russia’s weapons can inflict on the civilian population.

The Kremlin will also be hoping that as this war drags on, Western support for Ukraine begins to weaken.

Russia’s aim is to break the supply chain of Western weapons that allows Ukraine to defend itself and try to push back this Russian invasion.

Russian attacks aim to demoralise Ukraine ahead of winter

The Russian targets are now all too familiar: energy infrastructure in cities across Ukraine, including in places away from the frontline. This, officials here say, is part of a strategy to destroy critical facilities ahead of winter and demoralise Ukrainians, who will probably have to endure power cuts in a country where temperatures can drop to -20C.

Russia’s airstrikes, using missiles and Iranian-made kamikaze attack drones, have destroyed a third of the Ukrainian electricity infrastructure, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Cities and towns are already experiencing rolling blackouts, and residents have been urged to reduce their consumption.

“Instead of fighting on the battlefield, Russia fights civilians,” Dmytro Kuleba, the Ukrainian foreign minister, said this morning, echoing a view shared by many Ukrainians. “Russia does this because it still has the missiles and the will to kill Ukrainians.”

Ukraine says it needs more air defence capabilities to defend its cities from what it has described as Russian “terrorism”. Germany has already sent equipment, and the UK and the US have announced they will do so.

Russian forces have often fired dozens of missiles and drones almost simultaneously, in an attempt to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defence. Kyiv, however, has been incredibly successful in shooting most of them down. This morning, they said they had intercepted 44 cruise missiles.

Meanwhile, Putin's also looking for a way out. :O:

LONDON (Reuters) -President Vladimir Putin's foreign minister on Sunday needled Joe Biden over Ukraine, saying that he hoped the U.S. president had the wisdom to deal with a global confrontation similar to the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has triggered the biggest confrontation between Moscow and the West since the Cuban crisis when the Soviet Union and United States came close to nuclear war.

Then-U.S. President John Kennedy discovered that Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev had deployed nuclear missiles on Cuba after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion - a U.S.-backed attempt by Cuban exiles to overthrow Communist rule that was thwarted by Cuba - and the U.S. deployment of missiles in Italy and Turkey.

In an interview for a Russian state television documentary on the missile crisis, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there were similarities to 1962, largely because Russia was now threatened by Western weapons in Ukraine.

"I hope that in today's situation, President Joe Biden will have more opportunities to understand who gives orders and how," Lavrov said. "This situation is very disturbing."

"The difference is that in the distant 1962, Khrushchev and Kennedy found the strength to show responsibility and wisdom, and now we do not see such readiness on the part of Washington and its satellites," Lavrov said.

A spokesperson for the White House National Security Council declined to comment on Lavrov's statements but pointed to past comments about keeping lines of communication open with Moscow.

The top U.S. and Russian generals held talks by phone on Monday for the first time since May, a day after the U.S. and Russian defense ministers spoke for second time in three days after not speaking since May.

On Oct. 27, 1962, the world came close to nuclear war when a Soviet submarine captain wanted to launch a nuclear weapon after the U.S. Navy dropped depth charges around the submarine.

Later that day, Kennedy secretly agreed to remove all missiles in Turkey in exchange for Khrushchev removing all missiles in Cuba. The crisis was diffused, though it became a symbol of the perils of superpower rivalry in the Cold War.

President Vladimir Putin cites the West's dismissal of Russian concerns about the security of post-Soviet Europe, and in particular the enlargement of the NATO military alliance eastwards, as one of the causes of the conflict.

The United States and its European allies say Russian concerns are overblown and cannot justify the invasion of a former Soviet neighbour whose borders Moscow recognised after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.

Ukraine says it will fight until it has ejected every Russian from its territory, casting Russia's big power diplomacy as a sham used to distract from an imperial-style land grab that Kyiv says is doomed.

Asked what Russia should do now in the current crisis, Lavrov said: "The readiness of Russia, including President Vladimir Putin, for negotiations remains unchanged."

Russia uses airspace of Moldova to attack Ukraine, - Air Force

The Russian occupiers have repeatedly used the airspace of Moldova for attacks on the territory of Ukraine.

This was reported by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat, Censor.NET reports.

"Ukraine is being attacked both from the south and from the north. Moreover, they are using the territory of Moldova, its airspace, for terrorist attacks on Ukraine. This is another crime that needs to be documented and shown to the Western community because it is not the first time they have fired missiles at Ukraine through Moldova. To the west, to the southwest," he said.

Also, according to Ihnat, flights of enemy drones 5-10 kilometers from the Romanian border were repeatedly recorded.

"In other words, an operational-tactical-level drone provokes NATO countries in this way," added the spokesman of the Air Force. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377294

Ukraine will continue grain initiative and hopes that partners will calm Russia’s rhetoric, - Zelensky

Ukraine will continue to implement the grain initiative within the framework of agreements with the UN and Turkey and hopes that the partner parties will "calm down" the rhetoric of the Russian Federation.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Censor.NET informs with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

The head of state reminded that there are two parallel documents in the "grain agreement". In particular, the first was concluded between Ukraine, the UN and Turkey.

"Among these three subjects, I have not heard that anyone disagreed and would like to stop the grain initiative. That is why we are continuing as we agreed," Zelensky said at a briefing with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in Kyiv.

The second document was concluded between Russia, Turkey and the UN. At the same time, the president noted that "I have not heard that Turkey or the UN violated it, as they are not interested in bringing hunger to the countries of Africa and Asia."

"Certainly, if Russia says that it is withdrawing from the grain initiative, it means that it is withdrawing from the agreements of the last three parties. This indicates that Russia is violating these agreements," the president said.

As Zelensky noted, the world is already used to one or another Russian rhetoric from official and unofficial representatives of the Russian Federation, but he hopes that the partners will be able to "pacify" it.

"I am sure and we will believe that the partners will be able to calm down the rhetoric of the Russian Federation. We, for our part, will continue the grain initiative. Because we understand that we are bringing stability to the world - to food markets," Zelensky summarized.

We remind you that on October 29, Russia unilaterally suspended its participation in the grain initiative. On October 31, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmytrii Peskov, said that without the participation of the Russian Federation, the export of Ukrainian grain is unlikely to be implemented. At the same time, he noted that from now on, the "grain agreement" takes on a "risky and unguaranteed character." Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377393

Three more vessels left Ukrainian ports on Tuesday, the UN-led centre co-ordinating the Black Sea grain export deal says, despite a Russian decision to suspend its backing of the scheme.

The centre says the ships' movement has been agreed by Ukraine, Turkey and the UN, while Russia "has been informed".

On Monday, 12 ships carrying 354,500 tonnes of food sailed from Ukraine.

Russia halted its backing for the deal on Saturday, accusing Ukraine of using a safety corridor to attack its fleet.

The UN says there were no ships inside the corridor that night.

Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attack in Crimea - Ukraine's southern peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of "blackmailing the world with hunger" - a claim Russia denies.

How much grain has been shipped from Ukraine?
The Istanbul-based co-ordinating centre is yet to provide details about the cargo on board the three vessels that left Ukraine on Tuesday.

Russia has not publicly commented on the issue.

In Russia, autumn draft for army has begun - it is planned to draft 120,000 people

After the end of the mobilization in Russia, the autumn draft for the army began on November 1.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to Radio Liberty.

It is planned to conscript 120,000 people into the army - immediately after the official end of mobilization, where 300,000 were planned to be conscripted.

The General Staff of Russia announced the day before that citizens called up for military service will not be sent to the occupied regions of Ukraine.

However, there are no legal grounds for this, the regulation on the procedure for military service allows conscripts to be sent to the conflict zone four months after being drafted.

Analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in a report on October 30 assumed that conscripts of the autumn draft will be sent to war in Ukraine already in the spring. In addition, they can be mobilized into the army after the end of the mandatory service, if the mobilization is announced again or extended. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377541

India does not have "any moral conflict" in buying Russian oil - Minister Puri

Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said he has "absolutely" no moral conflict over buying Russian fuel amid Moscow’s brutal war in Ukraine.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to Suspilne.

"Absolutely none. There is no conflict. We have an obligation to our consumers... We have 1.34 billion people and we have to provide them with energy," he said.

On the proposed cap on Russian oil put forward by the G7, Puri said India would consider it and respond "according to its highest national interests". He added that India does not feel any pressure in this regard.

India's imports of Russian oil accounted for 0.2% of total imports at the end of March, Puri said. Reuters reports that it rose to a record high of 23% in September. In September, the US held talks with Delhi to review its dependence on Russian weapons and energy, as Ukraine's western allies made efforts to diversify their energy supply to move away from Russian oil. Gunnar Heinsohn writes at Achse des Guten about war demographics in Russia. He is the master of this art, I have quoted him repeatedly over the years.

Gunnar Heinsohn (*1943) directed Europe's first institute for comparative genocide research at the University of Bremen from 1993 to 2009. In 2011, he introduced the subject of war demography at the NATO Defense College (NDC Rome) and taught it until 2020.

---------------

Putin overthrow by returning troops?

Wars of conquest from a nation as demographically desolate as Russia have not happened before. Putin knows this, too. His miscalculation regarding the motivation of his own troops and the Ukrainian spirit of resistance could cost him power.

Angry soldiers returning from the Ukrainian war could - as in St. Petersburg in 1917 - turn their disappointment into a rebellion that leads to Russia's collapse. We are familiar with such considerations not only from military analyses - for example, by the astute Ben Hodges - but also from Russian soldiers who were able to flee to the West and from there want to win over their comrades for an uprising. But how likely is such an action?

From 1800 to 1900, Russia consistently recorded 45 to 50 newborns per 1,000 population. In 2000, when fighting and falling men are now born, the figure is 8.8, and even in 2021 the country reaches barely 10, with ethnic Russian women even lower.

The military stalemate of 1917 between Berlin and Petersburg, which brings the abdication of the Tsar in February, leads to the largest ever accumulation of soldiers and sailors in the centers of Russian power. The tsardom had grown from 70 to 142 million inhabitants between 1870 and 1914, more than the other European powers. The peasant families with six to ten children needed only a fraction of the young men who had not yet been demobilized to work in agriculture. For their supply it becomes additionally tight, because the hoped-for conquests for the supply of non-heir brothers failed to materialize. Moreover, with Finland, the Baltic States and Poland, important territories are lost in which Russians used to occupy the most attractive posts.

This affects the career expectations of the aristocratic and bourgeois families, who also have a large number of children. Thus, it is not surprising that, due to defections, 90 percent of the Red commanders eventually came from the tsarist officer corps. The situation partially resembles that of the Turkish upper class, which almost simultaneously loses the Ottoman Empire and rescues itself to Anatolia, where it takes over lands and posts of the native Greeks and Armenians by extermination or expulsion.

No more demographic vitality

The Bolsheviks' 1917 promise of bread, i.e., work, is thus met by millions of desperate expectations for the future. The resulting upheaval, or civil war, with the murder of the tsar's family cost about 1.5 million people killed and executed by 1923. In addition, up to 5 million people died as a result of displacement, epidemics and hunger. The victims are mourned in the families, but in the end they are endured like a slightly increased and soon temporary infant mortality. Even the approximately 800,000 victims of Stalin's "Great Purge" in 1936-38 remain demographically undramatic. Only sons are almost never affected. The enormously strong 1880s/1890s cohorts die, with family formation and procreation behind them. Unlike Hitler's Germany, which also murders the children of Jews and Polish intelligentsia, the offspring of those executed by Stalin are allowed to live and, through ideological zeal, to rise to the top. Still in 1937 to 1939 Russia reaches 40 newborns per 1,000 inhabitants. The tremendous human losses from Germany's attack in 1941 to the end of World War II are balanced by 1955.

None of this demographic vitality exists in Russia today. Life expectancy, which rose from 65 to 73 between 2010 and 2018, slipped back to 70 by 2021. The numerically weakest age cohorts of all are the current 15-29 year olds, from whom active soldiers and prospective recruits must be drawn. Even in absolute numbers, the country has never had fewer 15-29 year olds available than today, at least since 1870.

Those who perish among them are statistically their mother's only son or even only child. Where, then, were their avengers to come from? And how could gunmen reach Moscow and then penetrate into the heart of the dictatorship, which is guarded not by the army but by the elite Dzerzhinsky Division of the Interior Ministry?

An action that is bloodless and yet topples Putin?

Conspiracy is hardly to be expected even from those who have been forcibly recruited since September 2022. They have an average age of 35 and come from the last cohorts - in 1987 there were 2.2 children per woman - just above the net reproduction of 2.1 children. Those who fall and have not yet reproduced will wipe out their family line just like the 90,000 who have already fallen or become disabled. Applied to the German population, which has an even higher average age, that would be 55,000; in Austria or Switzerland, it would be a tenth of that number. For the USA, which has suffered 102,000 casualties in real terms in all wars since 1945, the shortfall would be as high as 214,000 dead and wounded.

Putin's quite high birth premiums - paid from 2007 onwards - increased the number of births to 12 to 13 per 1,000 inhabitants in the short period from 2008 to 2016. However, even this only achieves 25 percent of the tsarist-era volumes. In any case, those born in 2008 will still be far too young for the army in 2022. Moreover, they are studying on at least 400,000 recruitment refugees how to get to safety in time. Now, precisely among the talent that has now escaped are the minds that are needed not only to organize an upheaval, but also to start anew. Will my homeland come back up if I stay or return? This fundamental question of potential emigrants is asked by them in their emergency domiciles. If it is answered negatively, there is only permanent decline for Russia.

Wars of conquest from a nation as demographically desolate as Russia have never been seen before. Putin knows that, too. He had planned only invasion, capitulation and the eradication of Ukrainian nationalism. He did not expect resistance from his aging opponent. The fact that even the aging defend themselves when threatened with genocide was his decisive miscalculation.

Of course, the army and the Interior Ministry, i.e. the secret services, are also aware of Russia's demographic fiasco and the immense loss of competence due to the death or emigration of the rare youth. They do not fear a civil war army marching against Moscow, but they do fear the ruin of the nation and thus the loss of their own prosperity. They are therefore likely to plan an action that will be bloodless and still topple Putin. In this staging, they will proceed in such a way that he - for health reasons - will be allowed to announce his resignation personally and also to introduce his successor into office, but not select him himself. In return, he is left with the assets, palaces and residences of his mistresses. This will not protect him from international prosecution, but it will protect him from extradition to the appropriate authorities.

Iran’s "Arash-2" drones carry five times more explosives than "Shahed". This could be turning point in war - CNN

Russia’s use of the "Arash-2" drone has the potential to become a "major turning point" in the war against Ukraine.

CNN writes about it, Censor.NET reports with reference to Lb.ua.

"Any deployment of the "Arash-2" drone by Russia in the war in Ukraine may cause additional pressure on the country's air defense," the publication notes.

It is known that the combat drone "can carry five times more explosives than the Shahed".

The existence of "Arash-2" first became known in 2019, but its exact capabilities remain unknown.

The drone is named after Arash the Archer, a heroic character from Iranian mythology who was the most skilled archer. Legend has it that he fired an arrow that flew all morning and fell at noon 2,250 kilometers away. When Arash released his bow, he allegedly fell to the ground and died," CNN writes. It should be noted that since September 13, when the Russians first used attack drones against Ukraine, the air defense forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have shot down more than 300 drones, but dozens managed to hit their targets and destroy vital energy infrastructure.

We will remind, according to the reports of anonymous officials of the Western country, Iran plans to send to Russia a thousand units of weapons by the end of the year, including short-range ballistic missiles of the "surface-to-surface" class and combat drones.

The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Iran should send a batch of more than 200 "Shahed-136", "Mohajer-6", and "Arash-2" combat drones to the Russians in early November. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377764

DER TAGESSPIEGEL writes:
--------------------------------
Military apparently discussed nuclear attack on Ukraine - authorities in Moscow upgrade protective bunker

According to the New York Times, Putin's generals discussed the use of tactical nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, preparations for population protection are underway in the Russian capital.

Senior Russian military officials recently held talks on the use of tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine, according to a report. The discussions have led to heightened concern in Washington, it said. The New York Times (NYT) reported this, citing several senior U.S. officials.

The talks specifically revolved around a possible timing for the use of nuclear weapons, the report said, revealing how "frustrated Russian generals are with their failures on the ground." Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, reportedly did not attend the meetings. The Kremlin leader, however, has threatened to use nuclear weapons on several occasions in the recent past.

U.S. officials declined to comment further on possible attack scenarios. CIA Director William J. Burns, however, had previously expressed speculation that Putin's "potential desperation" over setbacks in the Ukraine war could prompt him to use a nuclear weapon.

At present, however, there is no evidence that the Russian army is deploying its nuclear weapons, officials told the NYT. "We continue to monitor this matter as best we can, and we see no indication that Russia is making preparations for such a deployment," the newspaper quoted U.S. National Security Council Communications Director John Kirby as saying.

Shelters in schools and clinics are being tested for functionality

The New York Times article is given further urgency by reports from Russia. For in mid-October, when U.S. intelligence agencies became aware of discussions in the Russian military leadership, preparations began in Moscow to prepare bomb shelters and bunkers.

On October 24, the exiled Russian investigative portal "Meduza" had reported, citing local Russian media, that authorities were inspecting shelters in schools.

According to the local newspaper, an employee of one of the companies involved said, "Of course, no one has given us a concrete order [on paper], but we have been told verbally that there are instructions to put the shelters into operation. Currently, we are preparing sewers and installing power supply in four schools in the center of Moscow." The shelters are currently not in good condition it was added.

As early as October 14, the first property managers in Moscow reportedly told tenants that the shelters were being repaired.
Signs reading "Shelter" have appeared at Moscow Children's Polyclinic No. 110. They point in the direction of the basement. This is reported by the Baza news portal.

On October 19, there was a report that numerous clinics in Moscow were equipping their bomb shelters. However, the Moscow Health Department later denied a report that there were instructions to prepare the bunkers for use.

Civic office in Moscow confirms preparations

Work on population protection is also underway outside public facilities. In Moscow, according to information from the Tagesspiegel, the authorities are in the process of inspecting the air raid shelters in the city and checking whether they are still operational. In everyday life, however, Muscovites have not noticed this so far.

A citizens' office in Moscow confirmed the preparations to the Tagesspiegel. The addresses of the bunkers, however, have so far been kept secret and will not be passed on to citizens. However, those who present themselves at the office with their ID and can prove an address will be given the address of the local shelter.

Russian whistleblower Maria Dmitrieva recently reported in a detailed interview with the Tagesspiegel that the Russian leadership is discussing the use of nuclear weapons.

"A nuclear attack is obviously being prepared because preparations for nuclear safeguards are in full swing," Dmitrieva confirmed the reports from Russia. "Moscow is preparing very actively. Doctors, soldiers, everyone is preparing. I witnessed this before I left. I saw arrows marked 'place of protection.' The arrows were reprinted, according to a report.

Dmitrieva's partner, who works for the FSB intelligence agency, also told her shortly before she left that the government planned to resort to tactical nuclear weapons in case of defeat.

"He said that our country is losing the war right now, and if Surovikin doesn't achieve what he was tasked with, acts of terror and sabotage are planned in Russia so that the Ukrainians can be blamed - and have a justification for the use of nuclear weapons."

"The likelihood of the use of tactical nuclear weapons is very high because on today's day Russia fell face down in the dirt. It started the war and lost it. And now they are threatening the whole world," Dmitrieva said.

"There is a probability of using nuclear weapons and it is very high - but whether Putin uses them depends on the situation in Ukraine." A use of nuclear weapons can only be prevented within Russia, within the circle of power, Dmitrieva believes.

The owner of the Russian Wagner Group private military company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, stated on 23 October that Wagner forces were making advances of 100-200m per day, which he claimed was ‘normal in modern warfare’. :D

According to their military doctrine, Russian forces plan to advance 30km or more per day in most conditions. In February, Russian forces planned to make a 1000km advance through Ukraine within a month. In September, Ukrainian forces achieved advances of over 20km per day.

In the last two months, Prigozhin has abandoned any pretence that he is not associated with Wagner and has been more explicit in his public statements. He is likely trying to burnish his credibility within the stressed Russian national security system.

Putin told Indonesian President Widodo about plans to attend G20 summit, - Bloomberg

Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have informed Indonesian President Joko Widodo that they plan to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) summit to be held on the island of Bali on November 15-16.

Widodo himself told about this in an interview with the Bloomberg agency, Censor.NET informs with reference to DW.

Today, Putin and Widodo discussed preparations for the summit during a telephone conversation. At the same time, the Kremlin's website does not mention Putin's plans to personally come to the summit. He has not yet officially confirmed his participation.

As a reminder, the G20 summit in Bali will take place from November 15 to 16. According to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, nothing will be decided at the G20, but everyone is working to isolate Vladimir Putin at the summit. US President Joe Biden has no intention of meeting the Russian dictator if he does come to the summit.

On October 31, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called for the cancellation of Putin's invitation to the G20 summit after another missile attack on the energy infrastructure. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377920

Canada to produce 500 thousand sets of winter clothing for Ukrainian Armed Forces

Canadian government will engage its defense industry in manufacturing necessary equipment for Ukraine in every possible way.

As informs Censor.NЕТ refrring to Ukrinform, this was stated by the Defense Minister of Canada Anita Anand.

"Canada's defence industry produces high-quality equipment and we see them continuing to step up their efforts to help Ukraine. We will continue to identify Ukraine's needs and work with industry to ensure that Ukraine gets what it needs," Anand said.

She stressed that the amount of direct Canadian military assistance has already exceeded $600 million and includes the latest armored vehicles.

"At a time when Ukraine needs it, we want to send it the best equipment," the Minister said.

Anand added that Canada has already signed contracts with suppliers who will produce 500 thousand sets of military winter clothing, which will be subsequently transferred to Ukrainian defenders.

"Ukraine will win this war, and in the meantime Canada will continue to provide support in the short, medium and long term, no matter how long it takes. The Government of Canada is committed to this," she assured.

As reported, Canada announced the allocation of another defense aid package to Ukraine last month. It included specialized cameras for drones, ammunition, winter clothing sets and satellite data. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377931

We cannot compromise with Putin and look for some "dirty" deal with him, it will only push him to further aggression - Johnson

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned Western leaders against trying to induce Ukraine to sign a peace agreement on unfavorable terms with Russia.

It was informed by Censor.NЕТ referring to Ukrinform.

"I think the danger is that we will try to compromise and find some kind of a deal, some kind of a dirty deal with Putin, try to encourage Ukrainians to trade a part of their territory, which will only encourage Putin to further aggression," Johnson said.

According to him, compromises on Putin's terms are impossible, especially because by supporting Ukraine, Western countries for the first time in a long time proved their commitment to the values of freedom and democracy.

"The reward for firmness and continued support of Ukraine is absolutely huge, because for the first time in decades we have shown that we really believe in democracy and freedom, and that we are really ready to support these values in Europe. So the Ukrainian victory can be an absolutely turning point for the world," the former British Prime Minister concluded. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3377933

There are no anti-Ukrainian sentiments in army of Belarus. Attack is unlikely, - Tykhanovskaya

The leader of the Belarusian opposition, Svitlana Tykhanovskaya, believes that there are no anti-Ukrainian sentiments in the army of Belarus, and Oleksandr Lukashenko, who seized power in Belarus, knows this, so an attack on Ukraine is unlikely.

She said this in an interview with Ukrainian Truth, Censor.NET reports.

"Already then (in February. - Ed.) it was clear that there are no anti-Ukrainian sentiments in the Belarusian army. Belarusian soldiers are not motivated to go fight against Ukrainians.

Moreover, they perfectly understood that they were not experienced in military operations, they would be used as cannon fodder. And Lukashenko understood these sentiments in the army. Nowadays, it is extremely unlikely that such an order can be issued. Although under pressure, of course, Lukashenko can do it," Tykhanovska said.

In her opinion, even if the order is given, the Belarusians will not fight, but will immediately surrender or flee.

At the same time, Tykhanovska believes that Lukashenko's regime has already officially entered the war with Ukraine. However, the introduction of Belarusian troops into the territory of Ukraine was more likely in February than now.

She emphasized that it is important for Russia that Ukrainians treat Belarusians with the same hatred as Russians. Tykhanovskaya emphasized that Russia creates the image of an "external enemy" in the face of Ukraine, while Lukashenko looks like a "savior". Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378048

Russias Security Council claims "Anglo-Saxons are destroying Russian ethnic group" in Ukraine

Ukrainska Pravda
Thu, November 3, 2022 at 4:58 AM

Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, has claimed that "Anglo-Saxons" are using Ukraine "to create a precedent to further fracture the Russian ethnic group" and that their "goal" is to "totally eliminate it."

Source: RIA Novosti (https://ria.ru/20221103/ukraina-1828862220.html), citing Patrushev during the meeting of the Secretaries of Security Councils of the Commonwealth of Independent States, a regional intergovernmental organisation in Eastern Europe and Asia

Details: Patrushev has once again reiterated the Kremlin propaganda statement that "Russians and Ukrainians have always been a single, indivisible people with a shared culture and fate."
However, Patrushev claimed that "Ukraine has turned into a world centre of far-right extremism". He believes that Russia is fighting "a puppet regime in Kyiv" rather than "ordinary Ukrainians."

Quote from Patrushev: "Having organised the coup in Kyiv in 2014 and initiated Ukraine’s transformation into a so-called ‘Anti-Russia’, the Anglo-Saxons are now trying not only to prepare grounds to put further pressure on our country, but also to create a precedent to further fracture the Russian ethnic group in order to completely eliminate it."

Previously: On 24 February 2022, Russia launched its full-scale war against Ukraine, an independent and sovereign state, under the guise of a "special military operation"; this latest development follows eight years of Russia’s hybrid military aggression against Ukraine.

The majority of Ukrainians believe that Vladimir Putin and his regime want to eliminate the Ukrainian people as such. Though Russia’s official government representatives are continuing to spew lies about "brotherly nations", the Kremlin’s puppets often say that Ukraine must cease its existence as a state.

Beijing’s clear words to Moscow are important for UN Charter and its principles - Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz hopes that China will find "clear words" for Russia in connection with its war against Ukraine and threats to use nuclear weapons.

As informs Cenaor.NЕТ referring to Ukrinform, he wrote about this in his article for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung before his visit to China on November 3-5.

"Russia's war against Ukraine blatantly calls into question the international order of peace and security," Scholz said.

He noted that Russia has even resorted to threats of using nuclear weapons, thus "threatening to cross a red line that will affect all of humanity."

"Earlier this year, in a statement with other permanent members of the UN Security Council, China clearly positioned itself against the use or even threat of use of nuclear weapons. As a permanent member of the Security Council, China has a special responsibility. Beijing's clear words to Moscow are important for the UN Charter and its principles," the Head of the German Government noted.

According to him, such principles include, in particular, "the preservation of the territorial integrity of all states".

Meanwhile, BASF cuts jobs and reduces its engagement in Germany - and shifts it towards China, because of the killing energy costs in Germany. So do many other big corporations, more or less unreported by the media and unnoticed by the public. Russia Blames UK Navy For ‘Terror Attack’ On Nord Stream Pipelines; British MoD Calls It ‘Russian Distraction’

Russia has accused the UK of Nord Stream explosions in September this year, claiming the specialists from the British Royal Navy helped the Ukrainian military blow up the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

“According to available information, representatives of this unit of the British Navy took part in the planning, provision, and implementation of a terrorist attack in the Baltic Sea on September 26 this year – blowing up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on October 29.

Russia and the US-led Western countries have been pointing fingers at each other over the explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea that carry gas from Russia to Europe.

As EurAsian Times reported earlier, NATO countries led by the US claim that Russia could have been behind the explosions, but they have refrained from making any official remark.

The cause was “apparent sabotage,” said Jake Sullivan, America’s national security adviser. It was “deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible,” declared NATO.

Even Sweden, under whose economic zone the explosions took place, after concluding its investigations of the incident, only stated its “suspicions of gross sabotage” without naming any country for sabotage.

Now Moscow has squarely accused the UK of blowing up the gas pipelines by alleging the involvement of British Navy Specialists in the “planning, provision and implementation” of the attack.

The UK, on its part, denied the accusations leveled by Russia, saying they were designed as a distraction from Russia’s military failures in Ukraine.

“To detract from their disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defence is resorting to peddling false claims of an epic scale,” it said. “This invented story says more about arguments going on inside the Russian government than it does about the West,” the UK Ministry of Defense said.

Russia’s accusations were a part of its official statement relating to a massive drone attack carried out by Ukraine on the Black Sea Fleet in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, damaging at least two Russian warships.

Massive Attack On Sevastopol

According to the Russian defense ministry, 16 drones were involved in the Sevastapol attack, including nine unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and seven autonomous maritime drones.

The governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, said that the attack on Sevastopol and the Black Sea Fleet was the biggest since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry said that the British specialists from the same unit involved in Nord Stream gas explosions also directed Ukrainian drone attacks on ships of the Russian Black Sea fleet in Crimea earlier on October 29.

“The preparation of this terrorist act and the training of military personnel of the Ukrainian 73rd Special Center for Maritime Operations were carried out under the guidance of British specialists located in the city of Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region of Ukraine,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The Russian Ministry claimed to have destroyed all nine UAVs and seven unmanned marine vehicles and reported minor damage to Ivan Golubets minesweeper of the Black Sea Fleet.

In addition to the Ivan Golubets minesweeper, OSINT reports based on the videos of the attack suggest the Ukrainian Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) filled with explosives also managed to hit a Project 11356R frigate (presumably Admiral Makarov).

Next year, 43% of state budget will be allocated to army and security. INFOGRAPHICS

The draft law on the State Budget for 2023 is aimed at Ukraine’s victory in the war started against it by Russia.

This was reported by the head of the government, Denys Shmyhal, Censor.NET informs.

"The state budget for 2023 has been adopted! Do everything to bring victory closer. It was with this philosophy that we formed this budget. The priority of the 2023 budget is to ensure our victory. Therefore, we are directing 43% of all funds to the army and security of Ukraine. This is more than 1 trillion UAH A huge amount that will allow us to provide our heroes at the front with what they need.

The second priority will be social security. Pensions, assistance to internally displaced persons, subsidies, medicine, and education. In total, this is more than 30% of budget expenditures," the Prime Minister said.

According to Shmyhal, the budget provides for the creation of the Fund for the Liquidation of the Consequences of Russia's Armed Aggression. Its resource will be UAH 35 billion. We are sending UAH 16 billion to support business through the Entrepreneurship Development Fund.

"Despite the war, the Government does not plan to raise taxes. Instead, we are reducing expenditures on the state apparatus by more than UAH 10 billion. The country's own revenues next year will amount to UAH 1.3 trillion. Instead, expenditures are twice as large - UAH 2.6 trillion. We expect to close the deficit of 38 billion dollars mainly thanks to the support of our international partners. Ukraine will not participate in G20 summit if Putin is there, - Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes that his position remains unchanged, and Ukraine will not participate in the G20 summit in Bali if Russian Federation president Putin is there.

Switzerland did not allow Germany to transfer ammunition for "Gepard" to Ukraine

The Swiss government did not give its consent for the transfer to Ukraine of ammunition for the "Gepard" anti-aircraft tanks, which Germany once purchased from Bern.

This is reported by Reuters, Censor.NET informs.

German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht last month asked the government in Bern to allow the delivery of 12,400 Swiss-made munitions for Gepard anti-aircraft guns, which Berlin has already supplied to Ukraine to help in its war with Russia. However, Swiss Economy Minister Guy Parmelin gave the same response as the Swiss government in June, when it rejected an earlier request.

"According to the principle of equal treatment in the right to neutrality, Switzerland cannot agree to a request to transfer military equipment of Swiss origin to Ukraine while the latter is participating in an international armed conflict," the government said.

Therefore, Switzerland emphasized that it will not change its position regarding the re-export of its ammunition, equipment, or weapons.

"Since the legal situation remains unchanged, agreement on the transfer of Swiss military equipment by Germany to Ukraine is still impossible," the agency added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378151

If Russia uses nuclear weapons, it will cease to exist as state, - Zelensky

If Russia uses nuclear weapons, it will not exist.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky at a joint briefing with the President of Greece, Kateryna Sakellaropoulou, Censor.NET reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

The Russian Federation launched a missile attack on a terminal leased by a Chinese corporation, as a result of which 17,000 tons of sunflower oil were destroyed.

As reported by Censor.NET, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Nikolenko, announced this on Facebook.

"The Russian Federation launched a missile attack on a terminal leased by a Chinese corporation in the Mykolaiv seaport, as a result of which 17,000 tons of sunflower oil worth $26 million were destroyed. Another terminal owned by China is under threat of attack," Nikolenko said.

According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs constantly draws the attention of the international community to Russia's purposeful destruction of agricultural terminals in Ukraine as part of the Kremlin's strategy to undermine global food security.

"The shelling of the Chinese terminal in the port of Mykolaiv once again confirms the importance of intensifying efforts on the part of Beijing to end Russia's war against Ukraine. We call on the Chinese side to demand from Moscow an immediate end to attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure to protect, including the property of Chinese enterprises," Nikolenko urged. Armed Forces of Ukraine have every opportunity to liberate Kherson, - Austin

The United States has no doubts that the Ukrainian forces have enough strength and means to restore control over the territories on the right bank of the Dnipro River, directly in the city of Kherson.

As Censor.NET informs, with reference to Ukrinform, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said this on Thursday during a press conference at the Pentagon.

"As for the issue of whether the Ukrainians can take the territories that remain (under the control of the occupiers - ed.) on the west bank of the Dnieper in Kherson, I certainly believe that they can do this," the US Defense Minister emphasized.

However, more important, according to him, is the confidence of the Ukrainians themselves that they have all the opportunities to liberate their own territories.

"We have seen how they have implemented very methodical and effective efforts to regain their sovereign territory. I think you will see how they will continue their onslaught until they gain a foothold in the territories on the west bank of the river," the US defense minister noted. Yes it could be, but not sure why Russians would destroy the dam. My understanding is Kherson metro area would not be affected by flooding and Crimea would lose its primary water source. Russia is already on everyone’s sheet list and I figure not wanting to make global opinion of them any worse that it is already.

But then I never thought they would invade Ukraine either. So there’s no doubt my opinion above could be just as wrong.

Russia’s Kherson retreat plan ‘well advanced,’ says Western official

Russian collaborators also say troops are likely to retreat across the Dnipro River, but the Ukrainian military is wary of ‘tricks.’

https://www.politico.eu/article/russia-vladimir-putin-plans-to-withdraw-from-kherson-ukraine-well-advanced-says-western-official/

LONDON — Russia has prepared the groundwork for withdrawing its troops from Kherson, the largest Ukrainian city its forces have occupied since the February invasion, a Western official said.

In the last couple of weeks, the Ukrainian army has made “spectacular” advances in its campaign to regain territory occupied by the Russians, who have been forced to move to a more defensive position and are “critically short of munitions,” the official said Thursday.

Russia is now believed to have temporarily bolstered its forces near Kherson to cover a retreat to the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, and has also ordered civilians to evacuate from occupied areas on the western bank.

“We are confident in our previous warnings that the prospects of Russian military withdrawal from their Kherson bridgehead,” the official said. “Planning is almost certainly well advanced.”

Kirill Stremousov, the deputy head of Kherson’s Moscow-installed administration, told Russian state television on Thursday that Russian troops could move across the Dnipro in the coming days.

“Most likely, our units, our troops will go to the left bank part of the Kherson region,” he said.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also struck an upbeat note on impending Ukrainian advances.

“On the issue of whether or not the Ukrainians can take the remaining territory on the west side of the Dnieper river in Kherson, I certainly believe that they have the capability to do that,” Austin told a press conference. “Most importantly, the Ukrainians believe they have the capability to do that. We have seen them engage in a very methodical but effective effort to take back their sovereign territory.”

Rumors about a potential Russian withdrawal from Kherson city swirled around Thursday after pictures were posted on social media platforms showing the Russian flag was missing from the main administrative building in the city. However, footage on the Telegram channel showed Russian flags flying from other official buildings.

There is some caution about those reports from Ukrainian authorities.

Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for Ukraine’s southern military command, said it could be a Russian “trick.”

“This may be a provocation in order to create the impression that settlements have been abandoned, that it is safe to enter them,” she told Ukrainian television. “Considering the fact that they have been preparing for street battles for a long time, the way they position their units, we are aware of the planned tactics and should not be in a hurry to rejoice.”

The Western official cautioned that any decision to retreat “is more about Russians making long-term strategic decisions about where is best to defend in order to be effective, maintain their own munitions supplies, maintain their troop levels and set themselves for the winter.

“I think in their judgement, they have decided that Kherson city is not worth fighting for, that that natural defensive barrier of the river is extremely valuable to them.”

Kherson Oblast is one of four Ukrainian regions illegally annexed last month by Russia following sham referendums.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to present any withdrawal as an evacuation rather than a retreat. Russian special forces might continue to operate on the western bank of the river even after a withdrawal, the official warned.

In Kherson, “it’s likely that most echelons of [Russian] command have now withdrawn across the river, leaving demoralized and leaderless men to face Ukrainian assaults,” the official added.

Any retreat would be likely to trigger another uptick in criticism of Putin’s leadership from Russian nationalists and could affect his credibility, the official added.

A Russian withdrawal from Kherson would bolster moral in Kyiv and across Ukraine. However Ukrainian forces are unlikely to be able this winter to retake the Crimean Peninsula, occupied by Russian troops since 2014 and also illegally annexed.

The weather is about to turn rainier and frostier, which will likely slow down the fighting, and the Ukrainians would still have to cross the Dnipro and face a well-fortified Russian defensive line on their way to Crimea, the official said.

Troops of Russian Federation use territory of Kursk NPP to store missile weapons, - Defence Intelligence of Ministry of Defense

Information was received that the Russian military uses the territory of the Kursk NPP and its related enterprises for the storage and maintenance of missiles.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the data of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.

"During the past few weeks, representatives of the Soviet Union of the Russian Federation brought missiles to the S-300 complexes to the underground hangars of the Kurskatomenergoremont enterprise in the area of the village of Ivanino, Kursk Region. Also, at the end of October, the arrival of several civilian trucks with Iranian license plates with unknown cargo was observed at these hangars," the message reads.

The scouts do not rule out that the specified high-risk facility, which is directly adjacent to the Kursk NPP (the city of Kurchatov), is used by Russian troops for military purposes. Namely, for covert placement and maintenance of ammunition for missile weapons and Iranian UAVs. The presence of Iranian ballistic missiles in the specified underground storage facilities is not excluded.

"The given information should be the subject of a thorough check by representatives of relevant international organizations. First of all, the IAEA," the Defence Intelligence added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378269

Russia is seeking lifting of sanctions on state bank to continue "grain agreement", - Reuters

Russia is demanding the easing of sanctions against one of its banks in order to continue the "grain deal".

Four Reuters interlocutors at once say that one of Russia's demands is exemptions from sanctions for Rosselkhozbank, which would allow it to restore relations with correspondent banks, Censor.NET reports with reference to LigaBusinessInform.

This will give the bank, which previously did not play a significant role in the international grain trade, the ability to process payments for Russian grain and other food products. Before the introduction of sanctions, such payments mainly went through international banks and Swiss "subsidiaries" of other Russian banks.

In September, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the need to lift sanctions against Rosselkhozbank because it allegedly handles "the lion's share of all fertilizer and food transactions." Reuters points out that in fact, before the start of the Russian invasion, the bank was mostly involved in lending to Russian farmers.

Dmytro Patrushev, the son of the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Mykola Patrushev, was the chairman of the bank's board in 2010-2018.

The Chairman of the Board of the Union of Grain Exporters of Russia, Eduard Zernin, claims that the United States and the European Union propose to appoint one authorized correspondent bank for Rosselkhozbank to carry out payments for grain and trade financing operations. Heads of foreign affairs of G7 countries called on Russian Federation to stop nuclear rhetoric and rejected lie about "dirty bomb"

The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven countries rejected Russia’s accusation that Ukraine is allegedly preparing a so-called "dirty bomb" and called for an end to nuclear rhetoric.

As Censor.NET informs with reference to "European Truth", this is stated in a joint statement following the meeting in Münster, Germany.

"Russia's irresponsible nuclear rhetoric is unacceptable. Any use of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons by Russia will have serious consequences. We also reject Russia's false claims that Ukraine is preparing a radiological 'dirty bomb,'" the statement said.

It is also indicated that inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have confirmed that these accusations are groundless.

"We also condemn Russia's ongoing seizure and militarization of the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the kidnapping and ill-treatment of Ukrainian personnel, as well as the deliberate destabilization of its work. We support the IAEA's efforts to establish a Security and Protection Zone," the ministers said.

We will remind, last Monday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba officially invited the IAEA to send a mission to Ukraine to refute Moscow's fabrications about the alleged development of a "dirty bomb".

The agency previously reported that nuclear facilities in Ukraine are regularly inspected, and a preliminary inspection in September did not reveal any evidence of the preparation of a "dirty bomb."

By train last week, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov intensified telephone conversations with their Western colleagues about the alleged planned provocation of Ukraine. Both Kyiv and the West rejected such claims. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378387

Russia looks to leave Kherson, Ukraine fears trap

There are increasing signs that the Russians and their allies are withdrawing from the city of Kherson in southern Ukraine. The New York Times writes that residents have suddenly encountered hardly any Russian military, patrols and checkpoints in recent days. Most civilians have left the city. Yesterday, a Russian-appointed administrator of the Kherson region said he expected the Russian military to leave the city. He later called on Russian TV for people in Kherson to leave for the east bank of the Dnieper. "There you will be a lot safer," he said.

But Ukrainians are reckoning with a trap. A spokesman for the southern army said Russia may be merely giving the impression that the villages and towns in the area are deserted and therefore safe.

Its a trap, with that damn, I am quite sure of that. And beyond that, Cherson is too relevant for Putin's propaganda. He would look like a total fool in Russia if the Russians loose Cherson, a total loss of face before the Russian population. He must not care for world opinionl but for own population he must care, he better does. Its the only province capitol they managed to take.

Maybe they drop a tactical nuke on that dam once the ukrainian army is in Cherson in strength. That would maximise losses. First the broken comms from the nuclear detonation. Chaos, disbelief. Then the water. Completes the messy chaos.

The Ukrioanians maybe now plan how to take the dma safely, from both sides simultaneously. And even then a nuclear missile could ruin the day.

Sounds like a damn tricky situation. No wonder they slowed down already some time ago.

But that the Rusisans give up Cherson without setting up a fight - I believe it only when I see it.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly approved the evacuation of civilians from parts of Russian-occupied Kherson in southern Ukraine.

Kyiv's forces have been steadily advancing on the strategic port city.

Mr Putin said people living in dangerous areas should leave as "the civilian population should not suffer".

At least 70,000 people are reported to have been moved already from Kherson - the only major city gained by Moscow since its troops invaded in February.

Civilians at risk from shelling and attacks should be "removed", Mr Putin said, during the Unity Day holiday in Moscow's Red Square.

Kyiv accuses Russia of forcibly deporting Ukrainian civilians - which is considered a war crime - although Moscow denies this.

Russia's intensive missile and drone strikes on civilian infrastructure across Ukraine have caused heavy casualties and damage, and forced Kyiv to impose frequent electricity blackouts.

Mr Putin's comments followed reports on Thursday that Russian soldiers, too, had been leaving Kherson - in what would mark a major withdrawal.

A Kremlin-installed official in the region, Kirill Stremousov, told Russian media that Moscow was "likely" to pull its troops from the area.

Ukrainian officials remained cautious, warning that the reported move could be a trap to lure their soldiers into dangerous areas.

Ukraine to get ‘most advanced tanks on the battlefield’ for counter-offensive against Russia

Ukraine will receive 90 refurbished and upgraded Czech T-72 tanks - labelled by the Pentagon as “the most advanced on the battlefield” - as part of $400 million (£348.15 million) in military aid.

The tanks - half of which are being paid for by the US and half by the Netherlands - will have better engines, thermal sights, improved fire control systems and explosive armour.

The new main battle tanks are expected to be ready for combat within the coming weeks and months.

Ukraine has long been pressuring its Western allies to send fresh tanks, which are vital to its counter-offensives to retake territory seized by Russia.

"These are tanks that the Ukrainians know how to use on the battlefield," said Sabrina Singh, a White House spokesman. She said that introducing Western-designed tanks would be "costly", "time sensitive" and a "huge undertaking" for Ukraine.

Russia is also relying on vast numbers of Soviet era T-72 tanks, but has been forced to refit some of its much older T-62 tanks after suffering heavy losses.

Its brand new T-90M tanks - known as "Breakthrough-3" - have been underwhelming in battle, analysts have said.

Some of the "invincible" tanks, which are equipped countermeasures to defend against laser-guided missiles, have been destroyed by Ukrainian forces.

Each loss of a T-90M heaps further embarrassment on the Kremlin, not least because each unit is reported to cost about £4 million.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed or captured some 2,750 Russian tanks since the invasion began.

In a further sign that the West is preparing for the war to carry on well into 2023, the Pentagon confirmed plans to establish a security assistance headquarters in Germany that will oversee all weapons transfers and military training.

As part of the new aid package, the US will also supply 1,100 Phoenix Ghost “Kamikaze” drones, which explode on impact.

The US has committed more than $18.2 billion in weapons and other equipment to Ukraine since the war began on Feb 24.

The announcement came as Jake Sullivan, Joe Biden's national security adviser, made a surprise visit to Kyiv to "to underscore the United States' steadfast support".

Danish Ekstra Bladet writes:

Intelligence: Russians threaten to shoot their own
British intelligence points to 'low morale and lack of will' among Russian forces

The Russians are now threatening to turn their guns on their own countrymen.

This is according to an update on Twitter from the British intelligence service.

'Due to low morale and unwillingness to fight, Russian forces are likely to deploy "barrier troops" or "blocking units",' the Brits write.

'These units threaten to shoot their own retreating soldiers to force offensives, and have been used in previous conflicts by Russian forces,' it reads.

The intelligence service further writes that Russian generals have recently likely wanted their commanders to use weapons against deserters.

Deserters punished
In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a change to the penal code that makes desertion after being drafted into the military in wartime punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The law states that if a soldier fails to report for duty, deserts with his weapon or deserts as part of a group during mobilisation or emergency law, in wartime or during an armed conflict, he will be punished with a minimum of three years in prison and a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Moreover, in times of mobilisation, emergency law or war, the circumstances are aggravated when the punishment is to be meted out, the law reads.

Occupiers can prepare trap for AFU in Kherson region, - OC "South"

Russian troops are trying to create the illusion that they are allegedly "withdrawing" from the Kherson region. In fact, the occupiers can thus prepare a trap for Ukrainian forces.

This was reported by the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, on the air of the telethon, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

To the journalist's question, whether the Russians can prepare traps for the Armed Forces during the Ukrainian counteroffensive and which ones, she replied that "such a situation is not excluded."

"Because the Russians are trying to convince that they are "leaving". Even though we see objective data - they are staying. There are defense units that dug in there quite powerfully, a certain amount of equipment was left behind, and firing positions were set up. And, in particular, the positions that are set up on the left bank, they will be used for fire support on the right," Humeniuk explained.

She emphasized that the occupiers are trying to create an effect as if they are "not there" to lure our Defense Forces into certain settlements.

"The settlement is always complicated street battles. We know and foresee the development of events that the Russians are trying to impose on us and we are drawing up our strategic plan," Humeniuk concluded. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378524

Risk of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine is low, - Stoltenberg

The risks of Russia using nuclear weapons remain low. However, the consequences for her will be catastrophic.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview for NTV, Censor.NET informs with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"The risk of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine is low, but the consequences will be huge, so we take it very seriously," Stoltenberg said.

According to the NATO Secretary General, Russia is behaving irresponsibly and imprudently. He noted that the use of nuclear weapons would change the nature of the conflict, and there would be no winners in a nuclear war.

"We are giving this message clearly. There is no change in Russia's nuclear position," Stoltenberg noted. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378525

It is difficult for Russian Federation to provide army with new weapons, - Biden

Russia cannot arm its army in large quantities and produce new weapons due to a shortage of the necessary materials.

This was stated by US President Joe Biden, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"One of the reasons why Russia has difficulty - and I won't go into detail about this because it would take too much time - is difficulty in supplying its army. They had difficulties in the production of their (weapons. - Ed.)," Biden said.

The US president also emphasized the importance of microchip manufacturing for national security and defense and noted his administration's success in establishing microchip manufacturing in the US.

"We had problems with the delivery of Javelin missiles to Ukraine because there were no chips. We sent them (Ukrainians. - Ed.) Javelins to help them defend themselves against Putin's crude and unprovoked war," Biden added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378531

For first time in several years, train from the DPRK arrived in Russian Federation. Perhaps with weapons, - Analysts. PHOTOS

Satellites recorded the first train in several years that arrived on the territory of Russia from North Korea. Earlier, the United States said that the DPRK secretly transfers ammunition to the Russians.

The train was detected thanks to satellite images. Employees of the analytical center 38 North, which investigates events in North Korea, drew attention to it, Censor.NET reports.

"At 10:24 a.m. local time (01:24 UTC) on Friday morning, a stack of three closed cars was seen on one of the tracks next to the cargo handling area. The eastern car is light blue, the second one appears darker blue, and the rear car is reddish-brown in color," the analysts said in the publication.

They note that it is impossible to determine the purpose of the train from the photo.

The day before, the United States announced that Pyongyang secretly transfers ammunition to Russia.

According to experts, this train may not be the only one that has crossed the border in recent months. In particular, there was another flight earlier this week. According to the media, 30 horses were transported by rail from Russia to North Korea - a "gift" from Vladimir Putin to the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un. However, the satellites did not record this cargo.

The 800-meter Korean-Russian Friendship Bridge is the only land connection between the countries. North Korea ended this connection in February 2020 when it closed its borders due to the pandemic. In September of this year, Pyongyang and Moscow agreed on the restoration of railway connections. Source: https://censor.net/en/p3378535

^ I'm wondering if the T-72's will be retrofitted with any improvements with regards to armor and weaponry ? The article you referenced makes no mention of any improvements. Although, If there are improvements being made, I would hardly expect to see them in print. :yep:
I dont know where it was, but some weeks ago I read about these modernized T-72. They are substantially equipped and boosted with NATO technology: better optics, thermals, fire control systems, reactive armour, and some more. They better are not beign tought of as "just" T-72, they are much better, not en par with modern Western tank designs, but much better than Russian T-72s or T-90s (which in principle are nothing more than modernised T-72: modernised by Russian standards).

It hopefully will increase pressur eon Germany. Bubble-Olaf uses the argument, that Leopards could fall into Russian hands and give away NATO technology,as a chepa escuse (one of severals) to deny deliover yof MBTs to Ukraine. But these ,modenrised T-72 alsop carry quite some critical NATO techhnology i them, and could flal into Russian hands. Bubble-Ola al.so sdays he ponly acts in coordinmation with deicisons by Wahsington, but Wahsington approves the tnak dela here (an deny anyway that ther eis any agreement on to act only in close coordinatiio nwn hen it comes to tnak deloveries). The german industry has many Lrepard-2A4s parked in its backyards , and has refurbished many of them alrready, and since months begs the chancellor'soffice for permission to instantly deliver them. The chancellor completely refuses to do so, and evades in wrong claims, lies, and most obvious manouvers. If he doe snto simply rightout ignore any such questions, which is his preferred method.

On this Russian force and these old tanks the Russians must use, the Leopard-2A4, if competently commanded and tactically led, could feast royally. Thats exactly the kind of enemy they were made for to hunt and kill.

There is also a huge number of Leopard-1A5s parked in the industry's backyard. Smaller cannons, less armour - but faster and more agile than anything the Russians field in the Ukraine. They could be used as mobile artillery in close distance support against infantry, for example. I would not set them up against T-72 in the open. The T-72 was made to defeat Leopard-1s.

Russia may try to block "grain corridor" once again - Stoltenberg

The risks of repeated suspension of food exports from Ukraine through the "grain corridor" remain.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"As long as the war continues, such risks remain. To fight hunger, it is necessary to deliver grain from Ukraine to the world markets. The grain agreement is extremely important in this regard. But the war should also be stopped," the Secretary-General emphasized.

It will be recalled that on October 29, Russia announced its withdrawal from the "grain agreement" allegedly due to "Ukraine's attack on Black Sea Fleet ships with the help of UAVs."

Already on November 2, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, stated that his country has resumed its participation in the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain, but reserves the right to withdraw from these agreements. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378541

Iranian plane arrived in Moscow, probably with new batch of kamikaze drones and missiles, - Bild

On Thursday, November 4, an Il-76 cargo plane from Tehran arrived in Moscow. Most likely, he delivered a new batch of weapons from the Ayatollah regime to the Russian occupiers. Military aid from Iran is actively used by Ruscists in armed aggression against Ukraine.

As Censor.NET informs with reference to UNIAN, such conclusions were shared by the Bild publication with reference to two photos of the unloading of the plane at the Vnukovo airport. The portal received the photos from an anonymous source.

The images show forklifts transporting pallets of large boxes that were on board the IL-76. However, the delivery of weapons is evidenced not only by the shape and size of the boxes. The plane that landed in Moscow belongs to the private Iranian airline Pouya Air. Until 2012, it was called Yas Air, but rebranded when it came under US sanctions.

According to the Ministry of Finance of the States, the airline was engaged in the "transportation of illegal cargo". This includes weapons for Iranian clients in the Middle East. Deliveries were made on behalf of the military-political formation of the Guardian of the Islamic Revolution.

Tehran began supplying Moscow with "Shahed-136" kamikaze drones back in August. And on September 13, the first use of Iranian-made drones at the front was recorded. Since then, the occupiers regularly use UAVs to attack peaceful Ukrainian cities, in particular, infrastructure facilities.

In early October, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Moscow had ordered 2,400 kamikaze drones from Tehran. Ukrainian intelligence received such information.

On October 18, Reuters reported on a new agreement between Russia and Iran. The latter state agreed to send medium-range ballistic missiles to the aggressor, in particular, Fateh and Zolfaghar families.

On November 4, Ukrainian intelligence confirmed that Moscow and Tehran had concluded all agreements on the supply of a new batch of weapons, including ballistic missiles. However, the first deliveries under the new agreement include only drones — 200 units.

On November 5, Iran admitted for the first time to the sale of kamikaze drones to Russia. But it was supposedly before the war with Ukraine. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378538

Russian Federation did not destroy any HIMARS, - Pentagon

The Russians still haven’t managed to destroy any of the long-range US HIMARS MLRS transferred to Ukraine, but the Ukrainian army still needs a significant amount of artillery for further fighting.

An unnamed senior Pentagon official told Politico about this, Censor.NET informs with reference to Liga.net.

He emphasized that the rate of expenditure in this war is high: Ukraine produces 4,000-7,000 artillery shells per day, and Russia - about 20,000.

A Pentagon official predicts that the front is likely to stabilize in the Kharkiv and Bakhmut areas during the winter months, but it remains unclear how the battle of Kherson will end before the weather halts the fighting. The American official believes that the situation with Kherson can be resolved in the next two to three weeks.

But in the spring, in his opinion, the battles will only become tougher. He also stated that some US officials are asking themselves whether Ukraine will be able to achieve its ultimate goal of expelling Russian troops from the entire territory of Ukraine, including Crimea.

It will be recalled that in August, Russian Defense Minister Serhiy Shoigu claimed that the American HIMARS long-range missile systems allegedly "do not have a significant impact on the situation" and "are being ground up in battles." Both Ukraine and the USA have repeatedly denied the "destruction" of American MLRS by the Russians. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3378551

Good information as always, Sky. This is the same reason that NATO forces are reluctant to transfer high end NATO aircraft. I think this may be the reason for scuttling the transfer of MiG 29's from Poland. I think one of our members suggested that the MiG's had been upgraded with NATO and Israeli technology.

Besides, the Ukrainian forces are doing well with the equipment provided to them. :yep:
