Review: HIgh production values and a worthy effort. DAS BOOT and The Enemy Below need not worry. Computer convoy graphics, oversized conning tower emblems, and periscopes always in the raised position, even during crash dives and on the surface under heavy 5'' shell fire, are a few dubious bloopers. But hey, permissible Poetic license; and I've worked on a few movie and TV productions myself to know!... the USS Kidd https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/57/USS_Kidd_%28DD-661%29_underway_c1951.jpeg/300px-USS_Kidd_%28DD-661%29_underway_c1951.jpeg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USS_Kidd_(DD-661)_underway_c1951.jpeg)now in Baton Rouge is the bridge/ship set for the combat scenes and excellent as anyone who's played Destroyer Command can appreciate... A Fletcher Class destroyer still in it's WWII configuration. Tom Hanks has mastered captain roles in his many on-screen performances-same here. A solid B+ performance. Will watch again anytime. Streaming to Apple TV may have curtailed a fair assessment as the movie was intended for the big screen. So when the theaters reopen after the Covid shutdowns; off to see it again. I had seen Lawrence of Arabia and Ben Hur on the big screen again, for the first time in years, this past year at my local Cinemax and the big-screen format really is a telling factor.... which Mr Hanks effort has been unfairly deprived of. :arrgh!: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a7/USS_Kidd_%28DD-661%29_in_Baton_Rouge%2C_Louisiana_%28USA%29%2C_on _26_February_2015.jpg/1280px-USS_Kidd_%28DD-661%29_in_Baton_Rouge%2C_Louisiana_%28USA%29%2C_on _26_February_2015.jpg< USS KIDD drydocked at Baton Rouge LA

^ i understand this, doing such things can be oddly satisfying, too.
Sometimes i find this forced slowdown positive, less hectic, have been able to finish things that had accumulated to a large heap that looked i would never overcome, but finally did.
However this whole corona thing is quite an ugly threat, depressing, and has huge economical consequences. Life has to go on and come back, but how can we possibly do that with what we know.

I know man. My wife and kids can even barely go out. They miss the outdoors, and I understand their frustration. Heck, for what it's worth, this virus did something that my former job couldn't, make me spend more time with them. Luckily, the kids share my enthusiasm when it comes to simulations. While I dig subsims, they prefer truck sims, just imagine that.

Having replaced my roof and gutters under two years ago, ash from great fires, leaves and new shingle grit caused gutter-downspout blockage ; usually during heavy downpours, requiring me on the roof with an improvised broom handle tool...at great hazard to my wellbeing given my age and the gravity of the 'gabled' slippery slope, ie: falling off the roof which has happened to two carpenters I know...and they were professionals :03: So today, the gutterman is installing metal-mesh gutter guards on all the gutters and a remedial downspout for an unlevel gutter that overflows in deluges. I'll paint that later. http://mobileimages.lowes.com/product/converted/100145/1001452308_12448502.jpg?size=pdhi

Hello. I'm new here (since last week) and not quite sure if I'm doing this posting messages things correctly. My real life job has gone virtual for the time being--work from home.
I've gotten back into playing Silent Hunter III (mainly GWX but also WAC and LSH). Lots of time to play and no place to go right now with the pandemic going on.
I've spent most of my time trying to run mods, tweaking things, and avoiding crash to desktop issues instead of actually playing a campaign. I'm sure that I am not the only one who spends most of the time fiddling with mods ( trying to add/rearrange newly discovered ones) instead of actually playing the game.
I just want to say that this is a great website with lots of information that has helped me over the years since I first bought Silent Hunter III back in 2005. Thank you.

Thanks Jimbuna. GWX is the supermod that I have the most experience with (since Grey Wolves). I'm just getting back into Sh3 and discovered M.E.P and Stiebler and Tycho patches to the Supplement to V16B1 (JSGME). It's like a whole new game.
I also have LSH 2015 and WAC 5.2 working, but GWX was my intro in supermods.:salute:

Welcome to Subsim, Sonny Sanford and GWX Player. :sunny: I hope you enjoy your time here.
A question for you,GWX Player. Since you have tried the GWX, Wac 5.2 and LSH 2015, which I am unfamiliar with aside from GWX, which supermod do you prefer and why ? I also wanted to ask what the M.E.P and Stiebler and Tycho patches to the Supplement to V16B1 are ? What is V16B1 ?
Again, welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome Commander Wallace. What I have heard is that LSH is supposedly more playable in that the enemy AI is not as uber as GWX, which some criticize as being too hard. I believe that WAC models a lot of historical events/campaigns that you can participate in.
I have only recently installed LSH and WAC, but I really have not played them extensively enough to tell you with any certainty about how all of them compare. I really just wanted to see if I could get all of them working using a widescreen gui. I survived situations in LSH in which I was detected by destroyers that I don't think I would have survived in GWX. But again, I have not played LSH enough to say for certain. I guess I like the challenge/frustration of AI destroyers in GWX (glutten for punishment).
I use Widescreen MaGui v3.4-SA for GWX. This is my favorite gui (thanks makman94). I really like the interface. I have also used Ahnenerbe WideGui and ARB Widescreen but the smaller dials/text are getting hard on my "getting old" eyes. MaGui is one of the main reasons that I have always played GWX. I will have to try LSH and WAC with MaGui. Perhaps I will end up preferring them to GWX.
V16B1 refers to realism and hardcode fixes by h.sie (H.Sie patch) in which you have to patch your Sh3 executable (a copy of the executable found in the folder in which your game is installed). WARNING: Please don't replace or copy over the Sh3 executable in your installation folder. Just make a copy of it that you will then patch. Once patched, you can select among various options by checking them off in a selector box. Very useful changes include a fog warning and getting the lazy watch officer to man his post after surfacing instead of you having to move him there. There is also the awesome Wolfpack mod in which you finally (sometimes) have wolfpacks (AI controlled U-boats) that will attack when you find and shadow a convoy. I have enjoyed having 3 or 4 other U-boats along with mine absolutely annihilate a convoy.
I just recently discovered the Stiebler add-on (which is an add-on to h.sie Supplement to V16B1). You have to patch, in a similar manner as with h.sie, your executable that was already modified by h.sie's "Supplement to V16B1". Stiebler allows many things using a second options selector with boxes to check off. Some include a surrender/abandon ship option, a weather meter in place of noise/stealth meter, a Minimum TC fix, and radars that actually rotate. Some options require you to modify some game files, but others do not. Any changes should never be to the files in your game's installation, but copies of them that you tinker with and place in mod folders enabled through JSGME. If things crash or don't work, you can simply disable that mod and you will not have ruined your installation.
TychoPatch involves taking a copy of your h.sie "Supplement to V16B1" executable (or your Stiebler patched executable if you are using Stiebler) and placing it in a folder that includes several files and a batch file that you run. This will apply the Tycho patch to your executable. Now you have 3 patched Sh3 executables in three different mod folders--h.sie "Supplement to V16B1" mod folder has an executable in it, "Stiebler add-on" has one that is a Stiebler-patched copy of the executable found in your "Supplement to V16B1" mod folder, and "TychoPatch mod" folder has a Tycho patched executable of a copy of the one in your Stiebler mod folder.
I mainly use Tycho for two reasons. I like that real latitude/longitude numbers are applied to the edges of the nav map. And I love that it allows you to change the colors of the nav map tools. You can change the line color of the marker, the ruler/compass, and the protractor. The marker can be one color, the ruler lines can be another color, and the protractor a third color. As the markings one makes on the nav map can get quite cluttered, this is an awesome addition.
So the Tycho Patch can be applied to h.sie Supplement if that is as far as you want to go (if you are not interested in Stiebler), or you could apply the patch to Stiebler. So in your JSGME MODS folder you would enable h.sie Supplement to V16B1, then Stiebler (if you have it), then Tycho (if you have it). I would advise that you enable any other mods that you are using before enabling these three, never after. These 3 should be the final ones in your list of enabled mods.
M.E.P is not a patch of your executable but refers to the various versions of Manos Environment Pro. The latest that I am aware of is version 6. It is a 20km environment mod. The waves, sky, wakes of ships are awesome. My frame rates when on the bridge really take a beating (dropping to under 20 fps), but your rig might not be as affected. I simply activate it using JSGME.
I hope this was helpful. Maybe someone will come along and correct me if I gave any wrong info. :Kaleun_Salute:

^ All I can say is wow, GWX Player, That is quite a description and dissertation. It sounds like you have a great deal of experience with all things, Sub Simulations. :) You will fit in well with Subsim.:yep:
I only recently, got back into playing SH3 with GWX , with the great assistance of blackswan40. After conferring with blackswan, we decided my early version of SH3 on DVD had / has Starforce ( DRM ) on it. I ran the Starforce removal tool and concluded that either my Starforce removal tool was corrupted or I ran it incorrectly. Like Blackswan and others, you may end up as one of our technical guru's or go to guys.
A number of members here, including JimBuna, who welcomed you as well, have said publicly, that they prefer and enjoy GWX as well. Others like @TheBerbster have said they like Silent Hunter 5. RockinRobbins and others have worked diligently on FOTRS or Fall Of The Rising Sun to add to Silent Hunter 4, Wolves of the Pacific. You might want to look for them and give them a go since Covid-19 have essentially made cave dwellers of a lot of us.
As for me, I was driving my older model Chevy Camaro on a nice day back from a meeting when it spun a bearing in the engine. Up to that point, it was driving beautifully. I still have a lot of oil pressure so I doubt I lost all of the main bearings. Still, the engine will need all of the bearings replaced and most certainly, crankshaft servicing or possible replacement. I planned on replacement of the cam, main and rod bearings, head rebuild and if needed, boring out the cylinders in addition to a cam replacement and high end roller timing chain set. I also found a high end, all aluminum 4 row radiator I plan to install once the new engine is in.
I am in the process of acquiring 2 other engines with their transmissions either to rebuild or as a source of spare parts. If any of them are in better shape than my engine, I will install one of them after a proper inspection and servicing. This may well end up a winter project or I may at least start rebuilding the new donor engine(s) during the Covid distancing. I may detail the rebuilding process with pictures if there is any interest. I also found a Ram Air hood and setup so paint matching of the new hood is in the future too.
I have to start putting together the funding for everything as well. I started selling a number of items including automotive related parts and equipment to pay for everything.
It's always something. Stay safe with the Covid-19 viruses out there.

My version of Sh3 is the 2005 DVD when I believe Starforce was called something else. I don't even remember the name.
Perhaps I am wrong about what I am about to say next, but try it. It is my understanding that the "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" will patch your game's original executable. But I am not sure about "Starforce" version.
Download the "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit". It is a zip file. Create a folder on your desktop, and place this zip file in it. Unzip it and place a copy of your game's executable in that same folder. Don't cut and paste your executable--copy and paste it instead. Run the "Patch_SH3" batch file (this is one of the files that got unzipped). This should patch your executable to version 1.6B1 and makes a backup of your original executable that is renamed "sh3.old". Keep your original executable safe (the one that is still in your game's installation folder). Save it somewhere else or make a folder in your game's installation folder that you name something like "ORIGINAL EXECUTABLE-DON'T DELETE", and save it there. Now, if the Patch Kit successfully patched your executable, place this new executable in your game's installation folder. Launch the game using this "new" executable.
If it does work, then you can read the "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" documentation to get h.sie Supplement to V16B1 working as a mod (and it's 4Gbyte patch which is necessary for some of the newest mods to work).
Everything I mentioned is from the great work of the modders that created them and their explanations on how to implement them--as well as checking out the great Subsim forums when I still couldn't understand what to do to get these mods working.
I hope everything goes smoothly with your automotive endeavors and with your sub simming.

Commander Wallace:
If your version of Sh3 is already the 1.4b patched version, then I believe my previous instructions will work. If, like me, your version is the original DVD, then you will not be able to use the h.sie patch in order to patch your executable to version v 1.6B1.
I believe that you will have to update your game to version 1.4b first.
I just verified this by installing the game today (using the DVD) on a laptop in which I have never installed it--(it's not made for gaming and cannot possibly run it). I had to install it in the x86 folder because it would not let me install it otherwise. I took the installed sh3.exe (which I am sure is version 1.4 and not version 1.4b) and tried to h.sie patch it using the "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit", but it did not work. When running the batch file called "Patch_SH3", the pop-up window even informs you that it is attempting to patch your executable from version 1.4b to version 1.6B1. If your executable is version 1.4, it will not work.
So, I patched the executable to version 1.4b and then applied the h.sie patch to this executable, and it worked! The game launches as version 1.6B1.
If your game version's executable is v1.4, then it seems that a total of 3 files from the fresh installation game folder are needed in order to patch the executable to version 1.4b. I copied these three files, placed them in a folder, and then ran the 1.4b patch with that folder as the target. The 3 files needed from the game's installation folder are:
sh3.dll
sh3.exe
sh3.msg
All you have to do in order to make sure that you find the correct files is to reveal their extensions: .dll, .exe., and .msg. To see the file extensions, just click "View" at the top of the folder that you are in, and select the tick box "File name extensions" in order to find the correct files.

We had a massive power failure a night ago already due to erroneous preventive tree-trimming to prevent fires from old power lines. My uncle-in-law passed away last night. He contracted Covid in his care facility and no one could visit him. He was a splendid teacher, basketball coach, gardiner and had flown anti-Uboat Liberators in WWII. Age 97. I saw it...and it did indeed cheer me up. Most of my time is spent just lying here being bored. After five weeks they finally brought the x-ray machine back, and it looks like they might have to operate after all. my skull fracture is healing nicely if somewhat slowly. A "speech" therapist plays logic games with me every other day, and a physical therapist takes me walking.

Got a call from the doctor yesterday. Instead of preparing for an operation I'm now doing light exercises to help with the healing process. I also took a short walk. Today I received my final certification from the brain therapist. He says I've completed all my tests and I'm in good working order, so all that remains now is balance and learning to walk again.

We have our first baseball game tomorrow at 4:30 PM Central Time.
I'm pretty sure I will being playing either right or center field.
I'm nervous/excited.
I'm praying I don't forget anything important.
Our coach explained our games to us, he said that there are two teams on our one team, there are 24+ kids on our team so he split them evenly. We have an A team, and we have a B team. He called off the names of the people that need to come to the game tomorrow in their gear and everything, and I am one of them. The rest of the team has to come, but they cheer us on or shag foul balls for us.
Its gonna be 90 tomorrow with 63% humidity, how fun.

Napa's completely socked in due to smoke; 0930 AM looks like 8PM, an orange-grey 'twilight of the gods' effect. I presume the sun is shining-last night a baleful red eye was at least visible; this morning....not even that much. Old movies and AC are the agenda...'till PG &E, CA's criminal utility, cuts off the power in a proactive blackout as they did over in Santa Rosa/SONOMA County all night long where my daughter resides. Additionally, 5,000 customers in north Napa county are w/o power...thus far, due to windy conditions affecting old power-lines. Fortunately the temps will be around 85F. down from 109-104 F. yesterday...hey!: "We be chillin' in the hood bro!" :D and I don't have to mow the ash-laden lawn!:yeah: EDIT: The dystopian effect of the orange sky looks like the set of Blade Runner II and is expected to last 'till Sunday. This morning, while taking our boy to college, we saw a man with what looked like a small cat on a lead. As we passed we could see it was actually a tiny dog: "Why the hell didn't he just get a guinea pig?" I asked.
Moira said that with the need for fresh food every day, a constant supply of hay and dry food, plus vet's bills (for the cysts and mites) it would probably be more expensive than a dog... I thought about my mother-in-law's mutts and said that at least it wouldn't bark

^True, and guinea pigs are delicious:
1 whole guinea pig
1 fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons ground Garlic
200 g Cornmeal
3 cups Vegetable Oil
1 garlic cloves
1/2 red onion
2 tablespoons ground Ají Panca
2 teaspoons fresh oregano leaves
1/2 sweet potatoes
12 Cocktail Potatoes
1 cup vegetable broth
2 tablespoons roasted Peanuts
Salt
Wash the guinea pig with plenty of water, dry it carefully with absorbent paper, and let it sit at room temperature for approximately two hours. Then cut it into four sections and season them with lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt.
Cover the guinea pig sections with cornmeal, then heat the 3 cups of vegetable oil in a pan and fry them on both sides for about 7 minutes, or until they’re crispy.
Heat the remaining oil in a pot over a medium heat and brown the minced garlic and onion for about four minutes. Then add the aji panca and let it cook for another five minutes.
Now, add a teaspoon of oregano, the sweet potato slices, and the cocktail potatoes. Then season it with a little salt and pour in the vegetable broth. Let it all cook for about 10 minutes or until the sweet potatoes and cocktail potatoes are cooked.
Finally, add the remaining oregano and peanuts, remove it from the heat, and serve it alongside the fried guinea pig pieces.

It would appear boredom is winning the personal battle I'm experiencing with the seemingly endless amount of time I currently find myself trying to come to grips with during permanent retirement so yesterday I walked down the towns high street and found myself 'window gazing' whilst waiting for the wife who was in the hairdressers.
As I passed the local British Heart Foundation charity shop, a large former supermarket that sells all manner of items such as furniture and electrical goods, I noticed a pavement board at the entrance advertising positions for volunteers so I popped in and the lady manager was very polite and helpful. She gave me a booklet with different positions they are looking to fill so I might soon find myself being one of their van drivers or warehousemen.
Anything to put some time in.

I'm sure you have expertise in a few areas. I would think it would be gratifying to see your teachings take root.
Although not even close to retirement, I have worked with a few students in their studies and it's been great following their various careers as they bloom and take shape.

I rang the manager today and asked what positions were available and she said "They all are" so I asked about driving a truck or van to be told their drivers are self-employed. I wasn't prepared to go 'on the books' or even purchase a truck or van for that matter so it looks like I'll be a warehouseman moving gear here and there as well as assembling flat-pack furniture.

The job interview just went down the toilet: our GP advises that we should all self-isolate for the 14 days. I have to say that this makes sense, since Moira or myself could conceivably carry the virus out into the community from an as yet a-symptomatic Bubs (our nickname for the boy)
We had wondered why we were allowed to go out when we read the guidelines... but I think the government are still trying to steer a middle-path, protecting society from known carriers but allowing the rest of us to carry on supporting the economy
It makes things simpler, hygiene-wise, but I now have to miss a promising job interview AND another PSA blood test because of Covid; that test was scheduled for tomorrow, which was why I was contacting them today

Edit: I just got an email saying they'll see me in 2 weeks... this now starts to look a bit too good to be true, or am I just an old cynic?
As Jim already said, Tough times right now because of Covid but I'm sure things will get better. Stay tough.
All the best, Eichhörnchen

I just answered a call on our landline (we hardly ever use that phone) and what happened next was like something out of a Will Hay movie: an old lady with a thick Yorkshire accent told me that I hadn't left her any milk when she should have had two pints, and that I'd gone and left her brother "Two pints when he only has one", and that it was "Full-cream when it should've been skimmed"
I said I was sorry to hear all that but that I wasn't her milkman and this was a private number
She wanted the number so of course I gave it. "Is that all of it?" she asked
"Well there's the area code", I said... "That's 01205... why... where do you live, then?"
"Martin" she said
"Where's that?"
"Between Lincoln and Sleaford", she said
"Well why are you ringing me... I live near Boston"
"Because I haven't got any milk", she said
"Well I can't help you... you need to ring your milk company; who are they?"
"Capital Dairies", she said
I gave her the Directory Enquiries number and told her not to let them connect her or it would cost more... she must write it down and tell them she wants to ring it later
I hope she rings back because it's made my day :har: :har:

My response was 'So volunteers run the business then and not management?'
I thought that was me blown out as she went to the phone to speak to higher management but returned after five minutes and said 'How about customer advisor and a few other tasks where and when required?'
I responded 'I'll do a Tuesday then and see how it goes. See if we are both happy with each other'
She agreed and when I informed the wife she said 'Do you not think you were a little cheeky?'

Well, Tuesday came and went. I changed my mind at the last moment and decided not to bother.
Today is a waiting game regarding the fitting of a new stair and landing carpet.
Saturday didn't happen because the carpet fitters van had broken down and Sunday was a flop because he couldn't hire a replacement.
Last night (Tuesday) didn't happen because he had too big a backlog.
Today I phoned the store manager and stressed in an authoritative tone that should the carpet not get fitted today I would contact the stores head office and lodge a formal complaint and demand a full refund of my money.
An hour later the carpet fitter rang me and assured me the carpet would be fitted this afternoon.
I'll wait and see.

:haha: A European sidenote: In theory Germany and Austria share the same language. Actually the Austrian flavor of the German language is much more direct, figurative, and colorful. And there is a phrase, that perfectly fits in this context: "Wer zahlt, schafft an." Translates to something like: He, who pays, makes the rules. But as a matter of fact it is untranslatable.

Getting ready for the election. Received my updated Precinct Chief information to include what to do if someone brings a gun to the precinct.:doh:
Fortunately, my precinct is a No-Drama precinct. Everyone seems to just want to get in and out as fast as possible.
This will be challenging with masks and distancing.
But the good news is that with all the early voting, they are only predicting just under 1,200 voters in my precinct showing up on 3 Nov. That should make the lines quicker and safer for the voters. :yeah:
Looks like I have a good team again. Seven of my Election Officers are brand new. We need all the EOs we can get!
Still gonna be a long exhausting day, but worth it. :salute:

Problem-wise, it was an uneventful day at the poll. It did start out a bit sporty as we found out that the school had a section of dead electric outlets in the area where we set up our equipment. Yikes that was tense.
Fortunately, we had extra extension cords and the school provided us with some more so we were able to daisy chain them from a working outlet. Might not have been up to code, but you gotta to whats you gotta do.
Other than that, it was a nicely boring election day which is just how we want it to be. The voters in my precinct are no drama voters. They want to get in, cast their ballot, and get out with minimal stress. We work hard to deliver that service. :D
We had a 67 year old woman show up at our precinct who had NEVER voted in her entire life, but THIS election motivated her to vote. That's awesome!
Because of the split statistics of Early voting, AB voting, and mail voting it is difficult, for me, to find out what the total voter turnout for my precinct was. I hope those numbers will be released soon.
What I can piece together was that about a week before the election, about 35% of the voters had already voted, there was about another 5% of ABs issued but not returned. No telling how many people voted in person between that report and 3 Nov. But at my precinct, we had a 27% voter turnout in person. But just based on the available stats, it looks like my precinct had a total voter turnout of about 62%!!!!!!!
With the unknown (to me) number of votes in between that last report and 3 Nov numbers, that turnout can only increase. From what the election office told me, voting in that week just prior to 3 Nov was massive!
I am glad it is over. I am totally exhaustive. I was scheduled to take all of Wednesday off as leave to recover. Unfortunately, I have puppy shots and I have to go into the office this afternoon.

I got a commission out of the blue yesterday via an email I no longer use, which made me suspicious; there are a lot of painters getting scammed lately by elaborate frauds
I quickly saw that the guy was okay: he'd found me on Facebook, so I was soon able to establish that he was genuine by looking at his page. Facebook has been very useful to me in this way just lately
The small commission is for a robin sitting amongst some mistletoe in a winter landsape, so right up my street for a change
I'll show it in the Art Gallery thread when it's done

Nice one Glynn.
The wife awoke this morning with toothache and despite all the hoops she had to jump through on the phone because of this pandemic I must say I was well impressed with the dental practice response, sorting her an appointment for this afternoon within an hour of first phone contact.
I rang last week enquiring about a tooth that needed a filling only to be told that absolute priority was being given to patients suffering pain.

She's certainly not smiling atm. After her visit to the dentist in which she was prescribed antibiotics she has an appointment for the tooth (her first) to be extracted next week.
Nor did it help after I reminded her it would be fine "Listen dear, I've only three of my own teeth left on the top, the rest being dentures"
She responded "Well that's your daft fault for having most of them punched out because of the career you chose"

I'm thinking / hoping that they will use sedation in the extraction with regards to Ann's visit. It's fairly common and a useful tool in the states for extraction, root canals and things of that nature. I'm sure it's the same in the U.K and elsewhere. The decrepitude of '60's dotaged dentition clearly setting in...a'larnin' to chew that good dinner with the "strong side" teeth is an art form. My own wife has so many crowns, probably stemming from bad childhood dentistry, and has to wear a mouth guard at night to prevent grinding one's molars during slumber. Gittin' old sucks, especially in the teeth, hip, and knee department!
I agree and when I suggested the dinner, I had forgotten the restrictions with regards to Covid. This doesn't even take into account trying to eat with bad teeth.

I'm guessing you were on the outs with the tooth fairy as they were never replaced. :yep:
Mr Quatro
11-21-20, 04:24 PM
No tooth fairy for me ... I went to the ER and they said they couldn't help me and directed me to a specialist dentist. I didn't have any money at the time and the dentist helped me anyway, due to I was in a lot of pain, by putting my two front teeth in a cast (yes just like a broken arm or something).
Then he said don't eat anything for three months ... Do you know what it is like to drink milk shakes for three months? I do :o
Anyway all the other guy did was knock them up behind my other teeth and he just pushed them back into place and put the cast on it. Couldn't talk right or eat right, but they eventually grew back to normal.
Funny how teeth can do that if given the proper treatment.
A story that I have never really told anyone and was long forgotten till now. :yep:

Underwent my annual health check on 16th where because of my Type 2 Diabetes I had my weight, height, heart rate, blood pressure and three blood samples taken.
The health check was four months overdue so I naturally put that down to the pandemic and the results which I usually receive in the post a week after the event have yet to arrive so again, I put the delay down to the pandemic.
Nothing amazing there I thought but what arrived in the post the other day did surprise me....an appointment for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening.
The appointment letter states the screening is offered free of charge by the NHS to all men during their 65th year. The pamphlet accompanying the letter explaining the ultrasound scan procedure states said procedure is for men 'in the year they turn 65'
As of today I'm 63 years and 4 months of age :o
I will attend the appointment and guess I'll put the two age anomalies down to the pressures of the pandemic again!

Abdominal aortic aneurism... I'm aware of it & looking forward to getting my ultrasound asap, since it sounds like a pretty horrible way to dieThat's what killed George C Scott at age 71...I had an artery scan approx 5 years ago, to go with my annual checkup since age two over concerns of a congenital ventricular septal defect which kept me out of the military-three times! My mom kept the MD's from experimenting on me surgically in the '50's! Never mind flying, SCUBA diving the globe from Bon Aire to Tahiti, trukkin', playing college rugby and wrestling; I'm amazed to still be kickin' at 69!
What am I doing in real life?
Chilling out at home, watching TV with the family, buying a new set of tires from 4WheelOnline, and applying a new paint job on my truck, just in time for our upcoming road trip.Well U said the kids "like truck sims" so wear your masks.:arrgh!: I gotta revamp my ol' trukken career, rent a camper, and head East 3000 miles on I-80 to my own nephew's wedding. At age 70, I'll certainly be doing it by slow turns & solo as the wife doesn't care to leave the house; and someone has to feed the cats!:yep: I won't fly on any aircraft during the Covid lockdown. Hopefully I'll be half-vaccinated by then....but I'm certainly Biden my time on that??!!:hmmm::Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

That's awesome, Eichhörnchen. Your work is great but don't let it go to your head. You're only slightly desirable as far as the bilge crew is concerned but you're ok. :D

Very Cool Mate!
Just finished a demolition job in Erie, PA where I was told I was the requested Guy to do it.
Seems the original Guy backed out so the Supervisor requested me.
(He wanted me all along but We did not bid the job)

Much of the work demands security and secrecy.
Drilling is planned out as night time work.
To contain the blast debris requires miles of chain link fencing being dropped at the proper moment in coordination with access being shut off to tourists.
I'm under the impression spot lights will be use to blind anyone looking at the area at night.
This would be said to provide protection and security to the area while the REAL work is going on.

Celebrating the neighbors from hell moved out opening up about eight parking places on the street and removing the chain smoker from right outside our windows.

/\ "shiver me timbers matey"! All that damn snow!:o I'm awaiting a socially distanced call from my tax preparer of many decades..."shiver me wallet matey" ...with the performance(s) in DC lately, WTF am I paying 4 anyhow??! :timeout::oops::/\\chop:nope::dead: EDIT: My taxman just checked in; and I don't owe a dime on my two government 'stimulous checks' either to the state or the Fed...although why anyone in my tax bracket would get $uch is beyond my comprehension... :hmmm: and I'm due for a refund this year!:yeah:

Genuine pain in the Aß: So, after a bad night with a sore shoulder from my Covid Vaccination, I get a phone text message this AM that my cell phone bill $43.07 is overdue...I've never missed one in nearly 40 years of anal retentive, meticulous, bill paying-always by cheque... never on line. .:Kaleun_Thumbs_Up: Off I go to pay cash at the local Verizon outlet: and then, go to the bank to stop the check. But, no banker being available I decided to hold off and let them credit my account if and when the check clears. The Verizon guy said all mailed checks go to Texas and the the big chill might have slowed postal service...:hmmm: blame it on the weather ??!!:o

I guess I am a grandfather again. This morning at 5:54 am Murphy Andrew was born. He weighed 7lbs 9oz. Murphy and mom Riley are doing great. We made a quick trip to Halifax this morning and will be here when the little guy gets home tomorrow.
Everybody is pretty excited. :D
