^ It shouldn't be a big deal unless you go through that procedure and your doctor is singing in your ear. At that point, all bets are off and I would run as fast and as far as my two legs could carry me. :yep:

Well, yet another birthday has come and gone. This year, my doctor asked me to stop eating and to drink something called a "Prep". He said he wanted to "take a look at me". Nothing unusual in that. Doctors look at me all the time.

This time, I had to wear that backwards gown and lay on my left side. But what's the worst that can happen? :o:o:o

Preliminary reconnaissance imagery indicates no issues. The doctor took some souvenirs to send to one of his buddies. Doctors do some strange things sometimes.
Ok I'm

:D

Looks like I am good for another 3 years, 3,000 miles. Well he sounds like a competent oncologist...of course around age...68ish, perhaps he should be called an offcologist:haha:

Doing prepration right now for what I will do tomorrow:

going by train to Haren, with bicacle, and the travel back by bicycle on the Emsradweg along the river Ems, should be very idyllic, and long, the trip back home alone will be 160km , and then some 15-20 km at the location of Haren, where over 35 years ago we had a ten days holiday with the whole shcool class.

Possibly I will be quite exhausted when I come home late in the evening, and my bicycle batteries will be close to their limits. Plan is to be 13 hours on tour, both at location in Haren, and on track when riding home. Some stays, some bshorter breaks, maybe having lunch somewhere.

Should be a great day. :salute:

Oh, and I will film the whole way home. Camera on steering bar, 10 hours storage capacity, seven batteries and option to recharge underway.

Editing and cutting the material will be a nightmare. :o

Just when I run into an angry police patrol I'll be in trouble. Filming this way is illegal over here. Thats why I have the cam now hanging under the steering bar, at the centre bar, which makes it less obvious a detail for the eye.

"I could work on my bike." - Yeah, sure I would do that.

Anyway, had a great day yesterday, one hour by train, and then thirteen hours on bike. Wonderfuöl tour, much change along the track, many forgotten places, wonderful landscapes and escape points, I returned home after sunset, and my display red 183 km and my bottom already had stopped complaining long time ago. Only the wind was against me, and the weather forecast once again had totally blown the wind forecast. They were off by 90-135°, and strictly to my disadvantage.

A perfect day. You have one of these only every couple of years. And I have it all, from first to last minute, on SD cards. The batteries for the bike worked amazing, both have 40% capacity left, but I was running a very aware energy management regime by myself. : Just in case. You do not want to get caught by empty batteries if your bike and luggage weighs 39 kg. Not with wind in your face and unknown ground ahead.

People visiting Germany: if you plan for bicycle holiday, the Emsradweg defintely is worth it. I just drove a fraction of it, it spand fro emden and the coast to far to Mpünster'S south-East, all in all around I think 380 km.

Just resist to do 380 km in one day.

The only thing I can say here Steve is I hear you. Don't know if that helps. I think we are about the same age. Currently waiting for two different minor surgeries, one is for a very painful hernia, I have arthritis in my back which makes my moblity limited and I am pretty much deaf in one ear. Great ain't it. :D

On the other hand it could be worse. I'll take the mind over the body anyday if I have to choose. We have friends who live across the street from us. The lady was diagnoised with dementia a few years ago. She is happy but no longer has any idea who we or anybody else is. We've known her for 14 years. She is the same age as me. Her husband Mike has told me that he would be ok if the Lord was to take her. That is tough to hear. He is going through hell.

All the best Steve. Hope things work out. :salute:

As for your neighbor U crank I have often wondered if this old age mental problem has anything to do with aluminum? That particular metal is in the foil that surrounds our food and when placed in a cold refrigerator can cause a reaction when heated again. Just got back from yet another VA appointment, this one regarding my liver. I have a mild cirrhosis, not as bad as they first thought. This is connected to the diabetes, and everything else - the swelling in the legs, the difficulty in losing weight, the pressure in my eyes, the loss of muscle mass in my arms, the pain in walking - are all connected to the liver. The conclusion thus far is that the first step is a complete change in diet. So we start that today and go from there.

Other than that things are great, having solved several computer problems and found a new median for my daily work/play balance.

Ground interest does make for the very best aviation painting... showing some 'story'... such as an attack on a famous target. At the same time they are much more time consuming to put together and therefore not likely to sell to the casual buyer with a modest pocket; they are personal 'labours of love' unless you are someone like Mark Postlethwaite with a queue of wealthy patrons. Having said that, I do have a list of such subjects I wish to paint some day, if I ever have the time and money to devote

Yes, I opened it because on first appearance it looked like it was sent from someone I knew.

My IT Tech friend explained how it was done so I now have a bit more of an idea how to prevent it from happening again.

For starters, my firewall and VPN are on 24/7 now but what was most interesting was the fact I was shown how to eradicate them if there were any more forthcoming.

Most unusual for a Tech guy, they usually don't show you anything to lessen the chances you'll be availing yourself of there services in the future.

No email attachment (even I'm that savvy) simply opening the email to read it activated the Trojan hidden within my system and was immediately flagged up by my defensive measures and quarantined. The problem being even after removing it the bugger would reappear again.

What I needed was someone with the tools to be able to get rid of it for good/complete and permanent removal.

The email message was a joy to read and went along the lines of something like "You have been a terrible individual and all the porn sites you have visited will be sent to everyone in your email address book blah blah blah......"

"Even if you havn't visited any we will create them and make them look like you have"

"This is not personal, you are only one of many in this situation" Oh really!

"We are are reasonable people and will accept a payment of only 500 bit coins to account number **************************************within 48 hours"

I must admit I looked at the bit coin exchange rate out of sheer curiosity and the figure amounts to 500 x £6177 = £3,088,500 :o

All sorted now though :smug:

B.t.w. paying will not get you anywhere, this kind of scam is being discussed in several places. In case they encrypted your hard drive it will not be possible to rescue it without a low level format, with all data gone.
They may promise to send you the decryption when you pay but they won't.
Not that anyone would pay that of course :o

Yes, thankfully. The guy works on these type of issues for a living and I was lucky enough to befriend him about twenty years ago prior to him starting this type of work in civilian life.

Began work on my first new map today. It's been about 4-5 months since I made my last one, so I'm a little rusty, but it's been going good so far. I'm taking a new approach with this one. Up until now, I've stuck to just basic geographic maps, however, this one will be much more involved, and there will be much more to look at.

https://i.imgur.com/QGrCXos.png

It's obviously a battleplan map. It is of the Siege of Vraks, a fictional battle that takes place in the Warhammer 40k universe with my favorite military section, the Death Korps of Krieg. I've started working on the unit markers now, and this is close to 1 completed section of the battlefield for the Korps side, minus the logistics battalions/companies such as Quartermasters, Ordinance, and Recon. I will post the completed map here when finished, it shouldn't take too long.

Did another long bicycle tour todayy this time to the south, travelling through some very beautiful landscape which until today i had absolutely not on my radar, and passing thorugh Nordkirchen with a Barock castle wich I also did not know before, the Schloß Nordkirchen, which is being called the westphalian castle Versailles. Very beautiful, very nice park and garden, and impressvely huge (not as huge as Versailles or Sans-Soucis, but for itself: much bigger than the water-castles that I used to know from Northern Münster countryside, if you are visiting in the region, its worth to check the place, and youtube has many videos on Schloss Nordkirchen. Dortmund, what i saw of it, was not impressive, and I got into unprovoked verbal fights with local migrants three times in 15 minutes, so Dortmund all in all was a lousy experience, and what I say of it, three nothern sectors and the centre, looks very ugly, but my aim was the harbour west of the central station, where the Dortmund-Ems-Channel starts, and I got there and then returned home by following the channel. The channel is very intimate this early on, and almost fallen out of time near the harbour, the trees and vegetaiton look like IU happen to know from VERY old photographie, it is very different to the more open, wider, straighter design around Münster and more northward, so the moment I reached the channel, all was good again.

By the end of the day it were another 155km logged,of course everything filmed via bicycle cockpit cam. Excellent weather but not too hot, everything worked out well, like always when I plan my tours - I do so with utmost care and precision to minimise risks for unwanted surprises. I also got positively surprised, because I expected the first part to dortmund being just "transportation" (originally I wanted to do it by train), and the channel being the interesting part. Truth is, it was exactly the other way around, so i am glad I skipped the train idea.

In brief, I spent a wonderful day. Just my knee lets me know.

The reason I had not thought women need this all important eye operation is because just men were in the doctors waiting room for the two months that it took for mine.

She needs stronger light to read by too and tell her to wear those sun glasses all the time outside.

I've been putting off telling the bad news as I wasn't sure how bad it is. Along with all the other problems I've had swelling in my legs on-and-off for a couple of years now. Along with everything with everyone else, it became constant and annoying around the first of this year. The swelling led to sweating, and because the compression socks were getting soaked through a couple of weeks ago they started wrapping my legs in bandages. Putting all the problems together they said it was being caused either by my heart or my liver. Either one is equally bad, just different.

A week or so ago I was seeing the Liver Doctor. She was once again telling me how bad my liver is, and she said she would show me the numbers that explain it all. She brought her computer to the proper screen, and then did a double-take. It seems she had been going by the test results and hadn't looked at the numbers herself. She then told me that they start worrying when the numbers reach 14. My level is currently just below 9. Apparently my liver overall as bad as they thought.

Then today I was seeing the GI Doctor about my intestinal problem. A recent scan and biopsy showed on infections or inflammation, so I get to stop taking one of my regular medications. He then told me that they had all been consulting with each other and looking at traditional causes and effects. One connection they had not considered took everybody by surprise. What do swelling in the legs, loss of muscle mass, general weakness, and even certain types of diarrhea have in common? Loss of protein. It's possible that I might get rid of all these problems just by eating more meat and other high-protein foods and maybe some protein supplements.

Maybe.

They're doing a CT scan on my liver next week, and that should tell them more. Meanwhile I've let my hopes get up a little. Not too much, because it could still be related to heart disease. We'll see.

For the past seven months I have been bothered by a very debilitating hernia. Here in Canada you are at the mercy of the medical profession when it comes to this kind of thing. After seeing my family doctor you are referred to a surgeon. That was a four month wait. Then after seeing him you wait for a surgery date at the local hospital. That was a two month wait. Finally I got a date, July 5th. Then I got bumped to July 18th. Very discouraging, but there is nothing you can do. But then this morning I get a call to come in tomorrow. The was a cancellation.

U crank is very happy. I'll let you know how it goes. I had the other side done ten years ago and it was instantaneous relief. Should be in and out the same day. Of course the upside to the Canadian health system is it won't cost me a dime. Worth the wait I guess.

After saying they were going to keep me in recovery for a couple of days, the surgeon allowed me to go home. My choice. You always heal faster and sleep better at home. Having two operations in sixteen I have been told to rest and that is what I shall do. https://i.pinimg.com/474x/10/70/95/107095b4721d7a589b6d3063eab58e03--medical-coding-work-images.jpg AT AGE 68 MYSELF, AFTER READING THESE MEDICAL TRAVAILS OF TWO 69 YEAR-OLD GENTS....., I'VE COME TO THE UNALTERABLE MEDICAL CONCLUSION:hmmm:: 69 IS NOT A PERFECT NUMBER!:O: :Kaleun_Sick:https://i.pinimg.com/474x/f8/d5/e8/f8d5e8a965b5250e59aa947537a6ad15--funny-halloween-pictures-funny-halloween-quotes.jpg

Had one of my worst days ever at the hospital. It started at 09:00 at the West Valley VA clinic. West Valley City was created out of four smaller communities back in 1980, and is the second largest city in Utah. I was there for my monthly meeting with the Diabetes Nurse. I had also scheduled my weekly Podiatry appointment for 11:45. There was plenty of time to make the drive.

Tuesday I had been up to the main VA for an appointment with the Liver Clinic, and they had seen that my stomach was badly swollen again. They had drained a lot of water (3.5 liters, or 8 pounds) a few weeks ago, but now it was even worse. They saw that I was to be up there Wednesday, and the doctor said he could fit me in either before or after the Podiatry appointment.

I got to the main VA shortly after 10:00, so I headed for the GI clinic. I had to wait awhile, but finally the doctor got me hooked up to the needles and tubes. This time they took out 6 liters of fluid, for a weight loss of 14 pounds. I then made my way down to the Podiatry clinic, arriving there right at noon. I sat...and sat, and sat. Read every magazine they had. Finally at 13:10 they called my name. It turned out they weren't backlogged, they had just all gone to lunch. Then they had to consult on some stuff. By the time I got out of there it was 14:30.

So I was in one clinic or another for five-and-a-half hours. Without having eaten anything.

At least right now I don't have another appointment until the 22nd.

SWELTERING IN 102 F. HEAT-WAVE .POWER JUST BLEW IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD SO NO EXCESS UTILITY USAGE TO KEEP THE AC GOING. BAY AREA SPARE-THE-AIR IS OFFICIALLY IN EFFECT SO NO BBQ ON THE GRILL; AND CAN'T USE THE OVEN OR DRYER...ELSE RISK BLOWING THE FUSE AGAIN.YIPES! Same exactly as yesterday (102F. & spare the air in effect )and power just blipped
causing computer and TV cutouts
I'll go for take-out to avoid using the oven....:k_confused:o

I reckon you'd be a right bundle of joy to be on holiday with in warm weather.

I don't mind warm weather jim, it's muggy boiling hot air I can not stand and to add to that I have notice people get very angry in this weather so my conclusion there is no benefit in boiling hot weather. And if I hear another spokes person from the Met Office saying its going to be even hotter as the week goes on I would.........Well you get the picture.

stiff from yesterday's rough sailing-three foot swells, high winds and an outflow tide forced us into the Napa river for a little smoother water. Meanwhile my desktop HP computer is in the shop (after 10 years)having reprted 'imminent disk failure' several times...so I'm using my new Samsung tablet today to post on :subsim: . 90's+ F. heatwave today... so cranking up the AC early!

Visited the WWII Submarine Memorial at Seal Beach today.
Stopped at each marker and saluted each one in proper fashion.

Enjoying a soothing porter after this burger... Around here hot means a slice of jalapeno, not a truckload of ghost pepper! That bacon made me forgive them though. Been 11 years since I moved from here. Good to see the decent pubs are still going strong.
