I think the fans have made a good effort on keeping his RPG pack alive, don't see how it would be any different with this. :03:
Tho, personally I like the Lucid Pack (http://www.lucidpack.com/), it's simplistic, but not too much so. :up:

I made a mistake on the 3rd floor of my newest building, but i can't destroy it. The block keeps reappearing. The whole floor refuses to allow anything to be destroyed, but a nearby tree at the same height was easily chopped down, and I can delete blocks on the floor below.
I know Dowly had mentioned something similar at his new base.
Edit: It appeared to be only in one chunk, a browse through the MC forums revealed that apparently the chunk I was working in was lagging. It's now working normally. Although it started working again right when I had decided to hit the TNT block that kept re-appearing.

Yup. Might do a DLR out at some point, we do have Bank station after all. At the moment it's just the Northern Line which will go North/South and then the Central Line will go East/West.
I'm just under halfway across the lake heading for Spud and Zirrans place, will then skirt around Zirrans wall and then head south for Crecy and Kolaaja.
You have my permission to build the tunnel under my area, just don't put any stations on or near my land. Going round my place will take too long.
Ah, Danke, the station for your area will be on the outside of your wall, so if ever you get killed it's easy for you to get back there. There'll also be one for Spud if he ever comes back.
Been distracted a bit by Fallout New Vegas, but work will continue soon. :salute:
Oh right, for those who don't know yet, I'm back in SMP. My current spot is somewhere west of Crécy & Kolaaja. :salute:
EDIT: Well, maybe back, I'm being hit pretty hard by the ****ing reappearing block BS.
EDIT2: Uh.. this bug makes no sense. At the moment, if I place something on level 71, I can't pick it up again, but if I place something on levels 70 or 72, I can pick it up just fine. And again, if I place something on level 73, I can't pick it up again.

Krauts, Lionclaw, and I have decided to build a city as a community project, in the center of the hexagon. Construction is open to anyone, just build within the city limits, and don't build where someone else has already started building. Supplies in the Plumbing building are open to all, just don't be greedy.

I will also be transporting stocks of supplies from my fort down into the city once construction gets going as well.
I'll halt construction of the Northern line southbound and take the Central line west bound to you. It'll make it easier to access and move supplies around. :)
Oh, and Dowly, the block bug is completely bloody random. If you leave the block and come back in a few days then you'll probably be able to destroy it.
Real pain in the arse, I know.

Cheers. I was thinking of building a raised rail bridge that'll run to my island so we can have easier transport. Also, I need to finish the harbour so we can transport things by boat too :D

The mine hub has been created, I just need to get the cart system in out working.
Edit: As asked by krauts, here is the list of projects currently needing to be completed:
1. Fill in any water within the 4 limits of the city(marked by 4 torches)
2. construct the security wall, outside of the city limits, wall needs to be spider proof, and 4 blocks wide, and 5 blocks high.
3. Flatten any land inside the city limits
4. Work on the mine
5. Work on the rail system in co-ordination with Oberon and keab, we need a station into the city.

I put some stone in one of the stone chests, I've also started the sewage line. You can get to it through the maintenance hatch in the Plumbing station. Once I get the city up, I'll add man holes. It will make a perfect underground travel if the city is ever overrun by zombies, and or creepers.

Feel free to use a TS2 channel. Shogun 2 seems to have moved to TS3. ;)

Patch 1.4 is out now! Upgrade and make yourself some cookies!
Change log:
* Added tameable wolves
* Added cookies
* Sleeping in a bed now resets your spawn position
* New Minecraft logo
* Holding shift while climbing will hang on to the ladder
* Spiders will no longer trample crops
* Lots and lots of infrastructure for Statistics lists and Achievements
While most of the code is written, statistics and achievements won’t show up until the next update.
We didn’t quite have time to finish them this week, and didn’t want to delay the update longer.
Now, who's going to wake Arc up to update the server? :O:

There's a separate download for Mac, not sure that client works with a Windows-based server though.

The entrance to City 19 has finally been completed. As a note, the only way to open it is in the city. So if you get locked out, the only alternative entrance will be the subway.

Which is slightly fitting, considering Dowly wanted to name it R.A.C.C.O.O.N.(forget what the long name was).
TNT seems to have a random chance of blowing up larger than normal. It will appear as two explosions in the same area. Makes it more unpredictable. Just blew a crater outside of the city wall with 4 tnt that went off like 6. :haha:

Cave spelunking in the mine. Found a lake of lava which I turned part of it into obisidan, move forwards to explore another part, and my mouse glitched. Dropping me into the lava.
Lost a diamond pick, 30 something iron, 2 stacks of redstone, 6 gold. The only good thing is that my 4 diamonds survived.

On top of that a majority of the land has been flattened.
The only outstanding project is to fill in all the water, and continue the sewage line(which I will do).

Right, I'm taking a brief break from the subway due to technical navigation issues which will hopefully be sorted soon. In the meantime I will be experimenting with redstone, so expect howls from frustration from my area of the map.
By the way, I took a little wander around the South last night...and good lord, Crecy and Kolaaja have been busy. If ever you have a chance, I think you should go and have a look at their place it's pretty awesome. A lovely looking walled village with a cathedral looking structure. It's very nicely made. :yep:

Came up with a conversion table for certain resources and hard to find items.
1 Gold Disc = 1 Diamond
1 Green Disc = 1 Diamond
1 Stack of Brick Block = 1 Stack of Iron, 32 Gold, 3 Diamonds
1 Stack of Netherrack = 32 Iron, 16 Gold, 3 Diamonds
1 Stack of Slowstone = 1 Stack of Iron, 32 Gold, 3 Diamonds
1 Stack of Glowstone = 2 Stacks of Iron, 1 Stack of Gold, 6 Diamonds
Pumpkin = 1 Stack of Iron, 32 Gold, 3 Diamonds
Moss Stone = 1 Stack Iron, 32 Gold, 3 Diamonds

Think it's a bit steep as well.. What with Gold being pretty rare.. and 3 diamonds for everything? I was thinking Iron could be used more as a currency because its a little more common to find and its used for a lot of things (making tools, doors, etc).
If I got a ton of gold for moss stone say, it would just end up sitting in one of my chests.

Okay, just did a count, the city limits are 128 by 128 blocks. With a total area of 16,384 blocks.
In the center will be a 40x40 building belonging to me, and to the east is Krauts hill. Everything else is up for grabs.

The center of city 19 is going to be a giant skyscraper.
I.think cacti are a bit unpredictable. The better option would be a timer built lower. Every interval of the timer will send a charge up the tower and sounding the chime.

While working on testing and cleaning up for the release, someone pointed out that Friday was April 1st, so I immediately shone up and requested - nay, DEMANDED - we should include the April Fools joke. Every map chunk generated on April 1st has a small chance of generating a glowing indestructible chest. When the player tries to open it, a window pops up telling the player he needs a “Steve Co” brand key to unlock it. In other news, a mostly likely new mechanical block to be added at some point is a piston. According to Coestar, Jeb has said that if the maker of the Pistons (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=247686&f=1032) mod wants to submit the mod to Mojang it is very likely to be added to Minecraft. (and the author has submitted it to Notch & co. :rock:)

Holy hell. Thank you shift key. I am working on the rail system in the mine shaft. It will run a cart from level 12 all the way to the surface. Due to a miscalculation in the digging of the tunnel, I just dug a 4x4 tunnel straight down. I'm working my way back down from the top, slowly adding the platform that the rail will run on. I step backwards, and realize I'm stepping back into thin air. I quickly hit the shift key and avoid falling 30 levels.

I've finished the first circuit loop for Oberon's chime. Right now it takes a whole 3 minutes for the charge to loop. By adding more to this line, we hope to get a max of 5 minutes from this row.
We'll then make two rows underneath it to make the chime go off every 15 minutes. As a note, if anyone breaks the loop for any reason, allow the charge to completely drain from the loop. Otherwise you'll ruin the timer.

The Underground railway between the Spawn and City 19 is completed and fully boostered, as is the railway between Spawn and Task Force/Geno/My place.

There are chests at each station with minecarts inside, please help yourselves but remember to put the cart back into the boxes when you're done with them. Each station also has a little arrival chime to simulate the door chimes on LU stock:

I believe you're speaking of Waga's whorehouse. The only part I took in it was helping him design the little end pieces on the pagoda roof.

This does not sound good.
We’ve been working on finishing up Achievements and Statistics for 1.5, I ran into some issues with JSON, got frustrated, and added weather instead. Developing new features like that is what I enjoy doing the most, so I ended up covering a lot of ground. There’s periodic downfall (snow in snowy areas, rain in others, nothing in deserts) that make the sky darker, hides the sun, moon and stars, and makes everything wet. Ice grows back in cold regions, and snowfall covers the ground when it’s snowing. During rain/snow, there can be occasional thunderstorms with lightning. I haven’t finished the actual lightning bolt yet, but everything else is fairly done.
Once the stats are done and the weather has been tested through, we’ll release 1.5. I’m guessing this will be next week. The piston mod might get added, but it will not be in time for 1.5.

Having weather in MC sounds epically awesome. Rain was already in classic, if you pressed...F5 I think it was and I think snow used to happen on the old arctic maps so the framework has been there.
What I loved about the rain (and I presume the snow) is that if you build a house it will not rain inside the house, unlike some other games.

What depth do you usually run the tunnels at? If you like you can connect it to my mine shaft, or "Lobby" for the guest rooms. I'd have to check but I believe they're not too far down. That and the mineshaft itself is capped by a pyramid to keep mobs out.

I have no idea...it's fairly deep...I'd wager about twenty or thirty below sea level, maybe forty.
I'll see where I land up. I'm just sheltering at yours for the night, I'm about fifty-sixty squares from reaching yours so I'll probably get there tomorrow or early next week. Depends how much time I get to MC over the coming few days.

The plumbing building is a warehouse :P.
As soon as I get some of the other buildings open, it will primarily be a warehouse.

So I'm building a dry dock to hold a type VIIC currently.. and I have this nagging fear that it's TOO big.
Currently the drydock measures 70M x 12Mx 4m (l,w,d inside measurements).
I read on Uboat.net that Type VIIC is 67M x 6.2something M x 9m tall.
Now, from playing sh2,3,4,5 (realise these may not be good indicators) and seeing how big the Type 7 looks in those games... And then seeing how big my dock is.. it looks bloody huge :o So what is wrong here.. my calculations, or were Type VIICs really that big?

Just laid the keel and a few measurements for the new submarine :D
Type VIIC, total length is correct however I may butcher the interior pretty bad.
Also, mis-measured the dock so it is now 87x12x4m so I may not even complete the submarine.

Reading Notch's tweets today, storms will lower the light level enough to allow mobs to spawn and if lightning hits a pig it'll create a Zombie Pigman...

I didn't actually hear any thunder itself in the video though, I presume that's still to be added in. Loved the distant flashes though, would be awesome if the distant flashes had the low gentle rumble and the close flashes had the crash of thunder...would be even more awesome if it had the delay too.
Not so keen on the idea of things catching fire though, even if its limited to just player objects (to prevent massive forest fires). Knowing how vicious fire is in Minecraft, I could see many major problems emerging. Starting with Mr Fetts Geisha house. :hmmm:

In light of the coming weather update, I've built the top half of my castle/thing and glassed over the top of the non-Health and Safety compliant mine. The tube now goes to Fruitloops castle but there's no station there yet.
Since Fruitloop isn't on any more I'll take a break from working on the tube for a bit. If anyone wants to continue they are welcome to, I just ask that they keep to the style of construction which I've used and let me do the naming :)
I might run a section North from Krauts to mine as it's a shorter distance than going North under Elco and up past Arc and Dylan.
I'll see if I get bored with mining out my build site.
Arc, with a handful of new players a new map render might be handy so that we can show everybody the lay of the land and where various people's claims are.

We were aiming at releasing 1.5 this week, but no. There’s been significant feature creep (we’ve got powered rails now, and lightning hitting a pig will turn it into a zombie pigman), so we don’t have time to get it out this week.

This is already in game. Notch mentioned that there will be powered rails. Which is what I was asking about.
Indeed, the powered minecart has been in the game since I started playing MC. It sucks! :DL

It would be nice to have proper reliable boosting instead of a physics glitch.
Obie, I was planning to work out which was the best way round for them to make Northern Line branches work at a later date.
I've been using the standard one-way auto-reset booster on the lines I've built so far. The only snags I've hit so far have been the occasional lag causing momentum to die early and the fact that non-OPs cannot drop minecarts or get into them around the original spawn. I've rectified the latter by putting in a second booster beyond the invisible forcefield which was marked out by TF (thanks TF) so non-OPs (and Geno's wolves) can use that booster instead. :yep:

At some point, I ran out of stone and needed to get down. Long story short, I brutally murdered myself in the attempt.
So I start racing back from spawn, hoping to find my stuff but not counting on it. To my surprise, everything was there. Happily I went on my merry way, back to the top of the tower and down onto the scaffold...
So, now I'm stuck there, again. No stone blocks, no way down. :damn:

Have you slept in your own bed? You should have respawned near it.
It is a bit hit and miss the bed spawn system.
The tube line is now heading westward again, then we'll swing north and head for Keabs Hatak, after that it'll be north a bit more and then east to finish at Arcs place. :yep:

Just a heads up, Notch mentioned that in 1.5 he's removing the ability to climb ladders with alternating ladder pieces, it's got to be continuous.
I'll fix the ones at the spawn this weekend, but you might want to consider fixing your own.

True,, hopefully you dont just fall off them going down or else mine shafts are going to be a pain to fix.

At the rate you can get wood(especially with bones), is it really that big of a problem?

Getting the materials isnt the issue for me.. its just finding areas that need fixing as well as getting in position to fix it (as stated above hopefully you dont just drop all the way down when climbing down)

1.4 implemented a new feature. Hold shift on a ladder and you don't fall...

As for the ladder issue, well.. don't think Notch has to do any changes to compensate the change. It is clearly a bug after all.

The new rails are fun, though underpowered compared to a booster (but not by a huge amount). the advantage with them though is compactness. Unpowered power rails act as breaking devices and the detector is a power switch.
On another note I am considering coming back to the mp server and starting a new public works. Basically a giant death trap & harvester for all living things. It is designed to harvest just about everything other than wool (does harvest eggs). But to do it I need either a very large shallow lake, or a hell of a lot of time to clear out the surrounding area to block mobs spawning near by.
So if you all know of any unclaimed areas like this let me know

sorry, that's not what I'll be doing at all. There's science to do!^which raises a point: Portal 2 came out and Notch was itching for it. Server is updated, but it's prolly a good idea to steer clear of new content untill it's actually confirmed to work.
Nothing against the guy, but they get it wrong on occasion.
So if you all know of any unclaimed areas like this let me knowThink there's still some 500.000.000 KM² available... might be cutting it close. :O:

Can you stack the powered rails to multiply the boost?
If not I think we could use them to boost a stationary cart inside a booster to come and boost your cart.

stack how? you can put them end to end then put a redstone torch underneath to make them permanently powered. but the same length of powered track doesn't have as much power as a booster line. Course powered track work in either direction.
Another option when working with them is to alternate between signal and booster, but that does not always work well on slopes (if the cart is too slow it will get stuck on the slope). Permanently powered track are best (and use unpowered power track to stop people at stations). switches etc can also be used to power or unpower track

Oh i should upload my prototype map. I map edited it to make the trap about the only place anything can spawn. Its nuts how many agro mobs the trap can handle at once. Funny as all heck too watching 15-30 mobs a minute get packed into a 2x2 drowning trap

Oh also I assume there is no issue if with using a ton of signs in one area right? ill need to use a few hundred signs to build the trap.

Rain will fall through transparent blocks and stairs, acting as if there is no block there. This can be a problem if your house has a stair-made roof

I've noticed in my private world that my water-ladder is more sensitive to pointing direction while climbing. Either it is because of a changed water current force (I read it was a bug introduced in 1.4, so I presume they fixed it), or somehow the continous ladder requirement is at play here. The cursor needs to be on the ladder side of the corner to climb quickly.
Still, no biggie. It's still faster than regular ladders.

Yup, water force seems to be back to normal. No more rapids from a single bucket.

Just spent 3 hours working on city 19. Task is currently clearing the way for the perimeter wall, which is nearing completion.
Ontop of that I have started construction on the Farm/tree farm, which is in the south east of the city. I should have that finished by today.
After that I will work on getting the road system up, along with illuminating every corner of the city. Finally once that is all done, construction of the citadel will begin.

It rained in City 19 last night so I'd say no. Still haven't seen any thunderstorms though :cry:
