I'm building the grand hall of industry, so we can all move the industry and AE system into one central open location.
We'll start as soon as the power plant below it becomes operational.
Right, the line to the oil fields is pretty much complete. I've built a station out there, so all TF needs to do now is build the oil wells and then a central tank near the station (but not on it please) and I'll build a line coming off from the main line.
The next task is putting the second track in, and then ballast and some signalling perhaps.
Anyway, I present to you, Tucumcari (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1DcFhaCCwI) Railroad Station!

EXPLOSION! Server crashed on me, had just installed the cart loader for oil and was filling a cart up when suddenly I couldn't access GUIs stopped responding.
It might be a Railcraft ,or maybe a buildcraft issue, as nothing at the base should have been loaded. The only thing around from mods was buildcraft pipes, redstone engines/pumps, and the railcraft trains and tracks.
* Actually I think that was just arcs router doing whatever it does this time of night.
Admit it, you had a bonfire going next to the oil wagons...

Anyways! The oil line is now official and working! kinda, there is only one loader so if anyone wants to add more feel free to do so.
I'm also thinking about moving the tank for oil close to the platform but I need to get it empty first.
Good man, when I wake up I'll see about getting a train of oil and testing out the whole system.
What we do need now though, I reckon, is an automated ore refining system. The macerator/washer/cooker system is good, but a bit labour intensive and requires someone to be in the staring corner to transfer it across.
What we could do with is a system in which the miner just dumps the unrefined ore into a chest and it's drawn into the system automatically and then into the AE. That would make things a lot easier and enable us to get some more resources I think.
Also later today/tomorrow I'll try and finish the permanent way stuff along the main line, need to line the inside of the tunnel by Tucumcari and ballast both tracks.

Right, so jobs for me are to:
1) Ballast the track
2) Line the tunnels
3) Ferry some oil
4) Start work on a larger locomotive depot to take the locomotives I'll make for Betonov (red) and TF (black), with a coaling tower included if I can work it out.
5) Signallling!!
6) Investigate in creative if liquid unloaders will unload a locomotive.

I think one train per day would actually be above the consumption.
Started the boiler, the 2 refineries are keeping up with the boiler with surplus :shucks:
Outstanding, I'll bring another train of oil over later today, and then completely redesign the train depot I made yesterday, not happy with it.
Zirran has gone south to make a base set-up near a desert, there's more oil there too apparently, so when I get the co-ords it'll be time to get cracking with the railway line. I think he also plans to work on a nuclear reactor at some point so I think Betonov had better liase with him so we don't wind up with two reactors which would be a tad overkill.
I'm also going to look into gascraft, we should have it installed, yet I've not come across any instances of it yet. So I'm going to read up on that and see what's what. :yep:
Also, IMPORTANT, we have a big demand for coal and iron, so if anyone has time to go mining, that would be a great thing.

I dont like that my quarry is diging so close to the base, due to having chunks lodaded when no one is around.
So I'll make a mining outpost to the north and make a train line there with Oberons help to transport ore back.

That's fair enough, tbh, digging in that area would be fine, it's just going thousands of meters away that's a problem.
Starting to get a little concerned that we're fragmenting a bit, tbh, Task Force has his own seperate AE unit (thought we were going to combine all our materials?) and Zirran has gone off into the great unknown.
Not what I thought we were doing this map, but never mind. :hmmm:

Oils back up, tanks reinstalled and is being pumped into.
I think something is going funky with the server. It's around 23:10BST and it's crashed twice so far. The AE system went down, and then the crashes began. I hadn't really been doing anything, I went into the nether and killed some Blazes for Betonov, came back to put them in the AE system and found it dead, then decided to transfer the unprocessed ores from the chest at the back to Betonovs automated macerator/smelting network, oh, and I went and had a look at his quarry.
Then it crashed (when I'd come back from the quarry) so I came back and went down the tunnel to Zirrans to get the Borer working again, then grab some ores and coal while I was down there...aand, it crashed again.

Left to right: Oberon's loco, Betonov's loco, spare loco.
I've put water and a stack of coke in each one, just remember not to put cold water in a hot boiler or your locomotive will explode. So keep that boiler topped up with water! My advice is to use the chest cart I've attached behind the cart you sit in to put in a load of water buckets and spare coal/coke, that way if you notice the water is running low and you're not near a water tower then you can fill the boiler up with the buckets.

Found this oil geyser south from my location.
http://i.imgur.com/S6tbra4.jpg
And there are three IC2 rubber trees east along the tracks from my location as well.
Right, the ender dragon was given a smack down, after I n00bishly blew myself up once, and Task Force and Zirran may have fixed the Bigger Reactors problem.
However, partly as a project (to stop us from getting bored) and partly as a back-up back-up power supply source, I think it might be a good idea to make an IC2 reactor. Yes, I know that this is a very complicated thing but we have a lot of materials (and more to come) and it'll keep us occupied for a little while. Obviously when I say 'we' I mean Betonov, Zirran and TF since I haven't the foggiest what I'd be doing, but I'm quite willing to fetch resources and so on as required.
So, location...I think the best place would be Betonovs old quarry, it's just the right distance from the base and it's a nice big clear open space which a reactor and its protective gear can be built in. Let's make it realistic if possible, maybe with fancy screens and stuff built in, a bit like...I think it was TFs reactor from a few maps ago, or Arclights nuclear experimental center, anyone remember that? That was awesome.
I've cleared the quarry floor of lava, but just be careful around the walls, some of them will have lava behind them. There's some shale gas down there too...not quite sure what you do with that, feel free to either demolish it (if possible) or use it.
Everyone agree? :hmmm:

Why use a cave, let's build it on the swamp to the west, containment building, cooling towers, the works.
A sandwich of concrete and obsidian should contain any explosions.
Oh, Task Force. I had to relocate the energy conduits feeding the AE system, but the P2P tunnel won't connect to the conduits again so the AE system is without power. Could you reconnect when you log in, I got no clue.

We can do, I'd go for the whole containment building and that, just so long as we can get the power back from it to the main base.
(Heck, if we wanted a real challenge we could attempt to run a power cable up to Zirran and Lionclaws bases...)

Task Force

I got it all fixed and working again. Should be no issues.
Righty then, I've installed detectors and holding track at all the loading stations, the liquid loaders are fairly straight-forward, the train will drive underneath it and then the track will hold the empty tank-cart while the loader fills it before pushing it in the direction that it was travelling in when it arrived, this will then pull the next empty tank-cart onto the holder track where the process will repeat itself until the train is filled. In theory the same thing should happen with the chest carts but I haven't really tested it, just in case you want to move the train away from the chest cart holder I've put two levers to one side to override the holder, just flip them and away you'll go.
I've also put a holder/detector combo on the oil emptying point and reduced the number of liquid unloaders to one, it'll slightly increase unloading times but it'll be fully automated so you won't need to worry about moving the train into the right position.
In regards to oil, I think Betonov will need to make a new oil tank at the workshop since the current one is nearly full and the fuel tank is nearly full too! :haha: Iron is running low so later on today I'll take a stroll down the local abandoned mines and see what I can dig up. Betonov, I'm going to have a quick modification at your quarry since there's a lot of running water there and that tends to hit performance according to Zirran, so I'll nip across and get rid of it if I can. :salute:
EDIT: Ok, that's a bigger job than I currently have time for, so I've turned the quarry off temporarily. Betonov if you could somehow remove the water from the quarry before you switch it back on that would be good, gravel and dirt are probably the best things to use. We've got plenty of both.
So, I've started making some uranium fuel rods :yep:

Pitchblende:
Cadmium:
Indium:
Silver:
Ammonium Chloride:
Calcite:
Magnetite:

This mod pack seems to have some issues... and was wondering if we could transfer the map to a different mod pack (We would have to find one with everything in it, FTB Monster pack maybe?) In theory It has all the mods we have but newer versions so it should transfer over.
Just a thought.
Would be nice if we had the wherewithall to make our own modpack, I know of a couple of nice mods that aren't in any current pack, which is a shame.
But, updated (to v25) versions of Reactorcraft, Rotarycraft, perhaps Electricraft, that would be nice. :yep:

Mkay, we are running the custom pack, but RAM use is kinda high. Letting it run for a bit to see how it turns out, for the moment memory use is pretty stable at least.
Problem here is that the thing really only has 4GB of RAM, which is kinda low for server applications. The thought of upgrading came up, but since this is an older DDR2 platform I don't know how good an idea that is. You can get 8GB of DDR3 for the same price you can get half the amount of DDR2 nowadays; DDR2 is no longer in production, so the price is only going up. And since the kit in there now is no longer available, best practice would be to replace all of it alltogether, going with 2x4GB of 4x2GB DDR2.
Now, that would put the price around 150,- already. For the same amount one could get 2x4GB of DDR3 and a new (simple) motherboard. Throw in another 150,- to 200,- for a CPU and it's a whole new system really, everything else can carry over. Seems like a better plan to be honest.
In the end just replacing the RAM is cheaper, but going the extra mile results in a rather more capable system, ready for another 5 years of service. The Q9550 in there now is from '08, so the ol' gal is getting on a bit, at least in PC terms.
Normally I'd pass my own old equipment down to the server, but my current 2500K is in no need of replacement anytime soon... I blame consoles, of course. Just no need nowadays to have the latest and greatest.
At any rate, RAM use is up, money is down. Stick with this and see how it goes, find something lighter, send me yo moneys... All on the table.

So, I cant get into the minecraft server. This is what I get when I try to join.

Any ideas, IIRC the fluorite stuff is from reactor craft.
I have no monies to send at the moment, but when I have an allocated spending slot (probably later this year/early next year) then I will definitely be willing to allocate some towards the Arclight server fund.
In the meantime, Zirran was talking about taking a pair of scissors to the mod list, however I don't know whether that will reduce RAM usage or just make the whole thing fall over, Minecraft can be finicky at the best of times...
So, I will keep looking around for lighter solutions and post them up on here, we might have to look towards the Technic launcher since there are more packs on there than on FtB, however I don't know how the server creation works with the Technic Launcher. :hmmm:
Task, did you try reinstalling the whole thing? :hmmm:
EDIT: I'd be in favour of a return to the Techworld2 modpack if we are able to update rotary and reactorcraft to v25, it has a lot more functionality and more fixes.

So, is it up an running already? And which modpack from which distribution network (FTB/ATlauncher or whatever download place) do I need to get it. I'm completely lost in what it takes to be compatible to the latest world.
I'll let Zirran answer that, truthfully I've gotten a little lost myself.
To everyone else, the automated ore processing system is now up and running. Please put minecraft ores into the chest indicated in the below picture:
http://i.imgur.com/fAoiTOr.png
The system will then (eventually) take the ores and return 3x ores per 1 block in the processed ore chest.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT put ores like Uranium, Cadmium or things like Coal into the system as the Rotarycraft grinder will not accept them and things will probably go wrong. Also if I'm not around please periodically check the lubricant level of the grinder and its gearbox, if needed throw some Canola seeds into the grinder, they will take care of any lubricant problem. Canola seeds can be harvested from the collection opposite the Machine shop. Otherwise the system takes care of itself and will run until it runs out of lubricant and the gearbox fails.
Also, please bring your own earplugs, it's rather noisy in there. :haha:

Whoops, sorry, thats what you get for posting it in the early hours of the morning.
After some consideration at work, I think I'm going to remodel the depot slightly, bring it down two meters, and extend it backwards a bit, this should encorporate a triangle junction onto the main line so that reversing can take place.
After that is done, and possibly after I've got myself a Iron Man suit then I'm planning to set up my own mine using the traincraft tracks and the traincraft mining train in a special way that I've got in my mind. Should look and run quite nice if it goes according to plan (which means it probably won't).
Like this Zirran:
http://i.imgur.com/YUKMvVe.jpg
This way, no matter what direction the train comes in, the locomotive can detach itself from the front, go to the depot to change its facing direction and then reattach itself to the train as required.

Funny, your tree farm causes lag for me when it's running. :haha:
It could be the rotarycraft stuff causing lag, it does do a lot of calculations, that's one of the reasons me and Zirran turn it off from time to time. I must admit I don't get lag that much, although I have turned the graphics down a bit, so that could be why.

Minecraft has been sold to Microsoft for $2.5bn.
Here is Notch's goodbye letter which has crashed Mojang:
I'm leaving Mojang
I don’t see myself as a real game developer. I make games because it’s fun, and because I love games and I love to program, but I don’t make games with the intention of them becoming huge hits, and I don’t try to change the world. Minecraft certainly became a huge hit, and people are telling me it’s changed games. I never meant for it to do either. It’s certainly flattering, and to gradually get thrust into some kind of public spotlight is interesting.
A relatively long time ago, I decided to step down from Minecraft development. Jens was the perfect person to take over leading it, and I wanted to try to do new things. At first, I failed by trying to make something big again, but since I decided to just stick to small prototypes and interesting challenges, I’ve had so much fun with work. I wasn’t exactly sure how I fit into Mojang where people did actual work, but since people said I was important for the culture, I stayed.
I was at home with a bad cold a couple of weeks ago when the internet exploded with hate against me over some kind of EULA situation that I had nothing to do with. I was confused. I didn’t understand. I tweeted this in frustration. Later on, I watched the This is Phil Fish video on YouTube and started to realize I didn’t have the connection to my fans I thought I had. I’ve become a symbol. I don’t want to be a symbol, responsible for something huge that I don’t understand, that I don’t want to work on, that keeps coming back to me. I’m not an entrepreneur. I’m not a CEO. I’m a nerdy computer programmer who likes to have opinions on Twitter.
As soon as this deal is finalized, I will leave Mojang and go back to doing Ludum Dares and small web experiments. If I ever accidentally make something that seems to gain traction, I’ll probably abandon it immediately.
Considering the public image of me already is a bit skewed, I don’t expect to get away from negative comments by doing this, but at least now I won’t feel a responsibility to read them.
I’m aware this goes against a lot of what I’ve said in public. I have no good response to that. I’m also aware a lot of you were using me as a symbol of some perceived struggle. I’m not. I’m a person, and I’m right there struggling with you.
I love you. All of you. Thank you for turning Minecraft into what it has become, but there are too many of you, and I can’t be responsible for something this big. In one sense, it belongs to Microsoft now. In a much bigger sense, it’s belonged to all of you for a long time, and that will never change.
It’s not about the money. It’s about my sanity.

One of my bigger, more immediate worries is how many modders are going to ragequit over this, one of Forges chiefs has gone, rumour has it that Tinkers construct and Natura is gone, the community is going to change a lot...which in a way it has needed to for a while, the MC community from what I've seen of it is pretty toxic, but given the average age of its playerbase it's not surprising.
We'll see... :hmmm:

They will. The Minecraft brand name and merchandise raises greater income than the game does.
In all honesty, I can't see M$ altering the current Minecraft all that much. I can see them hugely monetising a Minecraft 2, initially on Xbox, perhaps porting to other platforms eventually but it will be time exclusive, they need a boost to XB1.
On that subject, what becomes of 4J Studios who were contracted by Mojang to develop all console editions?

It begins.
After taking Mojang under its wings, Microsoft did not confirm that Minecraft would make its way to Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone. We knew it would come eventually, but it would have been great if Microsoft had said something.
However, Xbox Chief Phil Spencer placed all fears to rest on Friday after he confirmed that Minecraft would be brought to Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone. Unfortunately, Spencer did not clarify as to when fans should expect this, but we believe it could happen before the end of 2014 if the team put enough work into making it happen.

It looks retro dagnit, retro. :O:
But yeah, pretty much just drops you into a sandbox. There's a fair bit of crafting in terms of mechanics, like making planks from a log, making sticks from planks and then, say, making an axe with the sticks and some cobblestone. But for the most part it's going to come down to what you want to do. If you ever dreamed about recreating the Taj Mahal on a 1:1 scale with Legos then you prolly get along just fine with the game.
It even simulates your brother coming into the room and smashing your work or stealing your blocks.

So, I've been looking for a more survival/less crafting mod and I've found Terrafirma (http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Main_Page)mod.
So far it's a very nice mod to change the minecraft experience brining more tasks and challenges in to gameplay.
I'll make a short pros and cons and answer questions and we'll make a joint decisions about playing it one day (if)
PROs
+a new level of challenge
+forces us to cooperate more and delegate tasks
+finding ore is a little kid at christmas level joy
+ores are in veins or clusters and one mine should provide enough raw material for an entire age
+slow progression trough ages but never lacking of things to do and it really gives a feeling of accomplishment
+tools galore
+more focus on survival
+geologically distributed ore, if you check the surface rocks you can guess which ores the chunk contains
+experience levels means that more we do one thing, the better we get, even more reasons to delegate tasks
CONs
-fining ore/livestock/seeds can be tedious
-time investment is huge to advance to another age and real life would make us spending few weeks in one age.
-no machines
-very few options in the stone age and (unless we paly peacefull) we're basically helpless the first few nights. Stone knife and stone axe afre the only ways to defend ourselves and we cannot make doors or dig mine shafts until the copper age.
-a lot of expeditions will be needed far away from the base to find certain items
-spending more time in wiki checking recipees than actually playing at certain tasks
Working together as a team always gets my vote, it is more fun that way, and it would be nice to have a challenge.
I'll miss the machines, but I think this is worth a shot. :yep:

the biggest pain are the sticks.
They're needed everywhere and you can only make them by foraging or smashing logs with a hammer :/\\!!
And the tools are so much tougher than vanilla

Probably best we stick with standard TerraFirmaCraft.

Well, finding animals is a not a pleasant task.
It all depends where we spawn, there are no sheep/cows/deer below 7000, above that they're plentifull buuuut winters tend to prevent crops from growing.
At 4000 there are no animals whatsoever but a year long harvest season.
Chickens are only towards the equator so towards 0 we will have to go.
This is going to be a tutorial on colonization it seems. Easier to build a farm far away and bring the raw materials in, like hide and feathers and processed meat.
I think that also we should invest in a palisade wall. I'm going to experiment with one in my SSP world, as well as building an old Iron age style hut.

I've setup an ezTFC server on my private server at home. I just tested it with Betonov. It's intended only for Subsim members. So if you want to join send me your minecraft accountname by PM and I'll add it to the whitelist.
ezTFC is a private party pack mod on the FTB launcher.

Get it by going to the FTB 3rd party packs tab, click the Pack Codes button and enter ezTFC as the code.
As for changed mods, I personally disabled the JourneyMap5.0.1_FairPlay_MC1.7.10 mod in my client. Instead I downloaded the Unlimited version of this mod to allow seeing mobs. But iirc the server should not prevent you from logging in. It's totally client side. You may just not get all the map radar features.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1278348-journeymap-5-1-0-realtime-mapping-in-game-or-in-a
I notice it's up to version 5.1 now. Let me know if it works with that version and if I must update it. Also if the majority wants to stick to the default Fairplay version of the Journeymap mod.
The server should be up an running now. You can use the following as server IP:
home.ricojansen.nl:56552
I have no experience with moderating a public server. I have only been playing MP servers for my own personal use in my local lan. (to offload processing from my pc) So, please be gentle on it. Fair use policy applies. Banning is possible if you don't behave.
Let me know if you guys prefer an easier difficulty level. It's on hard now.
The connection is 30mbit down, 3 mbit up. But this obviously has to be shared with my other internet traffic. So if I feel like going on a freak download night expect lag. ;)

Found a bit more resources, and Oberon got a bit of a homestead going.
(And the server crashed once for unknown reasons.)
http://ricojansen.nl/image/ezTFCSubsim2.jpg
Right, currently I have a hut and a palisade wall around the encampment, it's not going to win any prizes for presentation, but it should hopefully help secure the place a bit more. Obviously it won't do jack against spiders so it's probably still best to stay in the hut until daylight. :yep:
Oh, there's fresh water in the north-west corner of the encampment, and there's sea weed for collecting out at the nearby coast.
Right, grinded up a copper saw, used it to build a couple of chests, spider-proof the palisade walls, put a door on the hut and door and gate on the entrance (gate to prevent zombies from eating the door, door to prevent skeletons from shooting over the gate) and put a barrel outside to fill up with water. Also found some random crops which I've planted. There's a couple of torches in one of the chests for you to relight the torches with.

I believe that most, if not all, of the crops have been harvested and put away in the barrels in the barn. Should hopefully last us the winter.
Going to make some cheese as well, and try to pickle some stuff like the cabbages and onions. Told Betonov to look out for some rock salt as well. :yep:
Damn, days past like years.

The server was unresponsive in the management console around 16:00 UT so I made it reboot. Since then we logged on an everything seems normal.
BTW, cooking the food does make it last longer. I know there are other ways to preserve food, requiring barrels and such, but I haven't figured it out yet. So far I haven't seen you guys do it.

Well I haven't been able to make the sods breed yet, so it's no major catastrophe.
I've been trying to put stuff in barrels, tomatoes, and so forth but they don't seem to last that long. I've been wanting to pickle stuff but I need salt for that which we don't have.

We have 2 rams so we'll just have to make due with a limited wool production.
Still havent found rock salt. I'll mount an expedition south, cross the ocean directly
@Pisces: If it's possible, whitelist me, same username as here. I'll probably wander off as usual, but all the animals and stuff I can give to you guys. :yep:
As for food decay, it used to be that if you stored it either high up or deep down, the temperature was lower and it lasted longer. Not sure how it's now.

If you'll be exploring keep an eye out for rock salt.
It's a rock layer so you'll be walking on it.
CMMC aquisition form to Oberon Metalwork company

Explored the lands to the north, couldn't even find clay. Some cows and horses/donkeys there, though.
Anyone explored west/east?

"Soon" gets a relative meaning when Journeymap spits out 1.5 Gpixel image of the world. It generated a map of 26112x56320 pixels. I had to find special software that could handle gigantic images to crop it. (link: VIPS (http://www.vips.ecs.soton.ac.uk/index.php?title=VIPS))
But the majority of it was mostly empty. (some tiny chunks not sure where they came from) The explored territory fits into about 11112x16000, still rougly 180 Mpixel. And 18 Mbyte PNG in size.
:sign_yeah:

The CMMC flagship clipper The Blue Rose docked today carrying the success of the Dowly party, 5 and a half full stacks of rock salt and a charted sea lane to the deposits for future needs.

Winter came and crashed the server. :hmph:
http://amybryans.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/eddard-stark-hbo-sean-bean-game-of-thrones1.png
Well, if you had PM-ed me I could have restarted it yesterday evening.
I don't know what caused it. Log files just say the server decided to stop itself. At 14:15 UT (on 6 juli 2015) Or I just don't know how to interpret it.
At UT 13:41:59 Betonov logged off
Between UT 13:44:27 to 14:15:09 a bunch of chunks seems to have been saved: "[Server thread/DEBUG] [FML/]: Gathering id map for writing to world save Subsim"
And following it starts to unload dimensions and signals mods the server has stopped.
Any way, it's up again. Let me know if we need to go back to a backup.

Would anyone have any objections to disabling the burntime of the torches? It kinda makes cave exploration not worth it. :-?
server/minecraft/config/TFCOptions.cfg, line 185: I:torchBurnTime=48 to =0.
In other news, the Dowly Expedition has found new exotic lands about 2000m West of the southern island seen on the earlier map. Not a very welcoming land, a lot of it is covered with thick forests, so lots of mobs even during daytime.

Lanterns is where it's at, or pumpkins. :yep:
Betonov

No objections from me
Lanterns are a tad too expensive for exploration purposes. :)
Pumpkins cant be grown in TFC, so they are a finite source and as such not very suitable for exploration.
That leaves just torches, which unless you explore the whole cave before the 48hrs has passed, will make your life very short on your way back to the surface.
If not disabled, I'd like to see them at least burn for longer. :hmmm:

Well, those torches will have to be re-hand-lit this weekend. I'm away from home. And I wasn't able to setup a working VPN connection to my home in time.
So be extra careful when chopping down Sycamore trees, Betonov. Or you'll be doing real-life stuff again the rest of the weekend. I won't be able to restart the server if it crashes until late sunday evening.

The entire harvest of 1004 is now stored under my house in the dark cellar.
As soon as you walk into my house, turn right, down the ladder under the wooden trap door and then trough a thatch of hay. Just walk trough it, do not remove.
Place a torch if needed but extinguish as you leave.
Grain harvest is more to the back of meat department, front is vegetables.
Fixed the torch time. Now don't burn your fingers on them.
... and then trough a thatch of hay. Just walk trough it, do not remove.

There's some bad weather forecasted so I'll use it to pickle all the vegetables we have.

I'm testing automatic shutdowns by UPS for powerfailure on the server now. So if the game crashes for no apparent reason. It's me!
I'm done testing for now. The server is shutting down cleanly when the power has gone. Might need to tweak the timings a bit so the battery doesn't run down completely, and can survive a second mains failure in a short time, but I'll get to that later.
You won't get a warning if this happens though, as my router is not supplied from the UPS. Not that this is likely to happen anyway. Those sequoia have a far bigger impact on stability ;)

Gentlemen, I'd like to call this meeting to order.
I'm not sure how many are still playing TFC, I must admit I haven't been on the server in a while. I found that when we reached the iron age that there wasn't really anything more to work towards.
I understand that this is something that happens with most MC games, but due to the nature of TFC this one happened a little earlier than normal. This being said, it was definitely entertaining and good fun.
I think though that we should consider moving on.
Now, we have a range of options of modpacks and we all have our favourites, the critical matter is deciding what will work and what won't.
Two mods I have seen that I like the looks of are 'Rails of War' because I'm a huge train nerd, and 'Immersive Engineering' which is a nice looking little mod which gives you large machinery and is compatible with Buildcraft.
What are peoples thoughts? :hmmm:
Betonov
09-01-15, 02:49 PM
Immersive engineering looks fun.
A lot of tinkering
Yeah, I lost interest in TFC too. That said, don't really have a minecraft urge at all at the moment.
If you guys want me to stop the server, and set up something else, that's fine. On request I can manage the server and update mods if needed. Give me a list of what steps to do. I don't feel like doing the research of which mods fit and play nice with eachother. That will be up to you. And I don't think I'll log on to play this time.
No probs, it'll probably be a little while before we settle on the perfect mixture of chaos that is a good mod pack. Then it's a case of seeing how stable the darn thing is when we do go for a server.
We'll keep you posted. I know what you mean about the Minecraft urge, it comes and goes, I think mine is starting to work back in inbetween all the War Thunder grinding I've been doing of late. :haha:

Since we're not server hogs and this version is suprisingly stable we decided to put it publicly for Subsimers.

We have tech, magic and gardening :03:
PM for details, some change in the config file will be neccessary though.
And warning, Gago is pretty developed by now, Oberon is well into the electrical age and my gardening skills are making sure that mining is becoming obsolete. So if you'll want to start from sctratch you'll have to tell us so we don't ship surplus to you :)
I wouldn't say well into the electrical age, more like sort of Baghdad battery into it. :O: Still, I'm playing around with Immersive Engineering and I might muck around with the Railcraft electric locos once I've got things sorted. :hmmm:

You ever feel there are like way too many mods in these packs now? I've been messing around with Bee Happy after a 4+ year hiatus from the game. It is hard not to feel completely overwhelmed with all the mods and how they mesh together (or don't at all mesh). Just the sheer number of basic blocks (like all the glass block variants) makes my head hurt.

We usually focus on one mod and work around it.
Oberon is on immersive engineering, Gago on thaumcraft and I'm in Agricraft.
it's overwhelming but it also gives choice to the player.

Used the midday heat as an excuse to play a little vanilla and see what the new update brought.
We got shields now and I love yelling ''form testudo'' before closing in on a skeleton.
And the boats are a lot tougher now, no longer sinking after you graze a squid :yeah:

The boat and horse lag in MP should also be gone. Though, now you often don't see the person riding the boat/horse and instead the player just stands where s/he got on the boat/horse.

Does the image move to where the player stops or where he unmounts ??
The player moves to either where he unmounts or remains invisible.

In a PvE servers we play that's a bug.
In a PvP server that's a complete game breaker.
And just seen it with me own eyes
The character no longer has to jump on 1 block high blocks, he automaticly steps on them as you walk :o

Yup, good example from current Mindcrack UHC season:

I really like the preset worlds they've added (in 1.9, I think?). Caver's delight is pretty cool. :yep:

I started up Minecraft for the first time since Microsloth bought it. Imagine my surprise when I found that MS hasn't ruined the game yet! Now I have to get up to speed with the changes since 1.5.2......

There was no auto-jump before in minecraft?
