Well, should be alright CPU wise. I started out hosting on my own PC; running other things alongside wasn't too much of an issue. Was really when I started up something like Shogun 2 that the server (obviously) stopped playing nice.

I'm not sure, but I think the problem still occurs here occasionally. Seems a combination of multiple people online (driving the ticks up) and high-ish latency. Mostly I remember issues for Geno, Task and Spike, connecting from the US and Australia. :hmmm:

If you're using the .exe you should be able to see the ticks on the gui. In-game you can hold tab to see who's connected and a 'ping-bar' to get an idea of the connection quality.

Unrelated to Minecraft, but lag might be reduced, or wireless bandwith improved, if you search out a relatively unpopulated WiFi frequency band (channel) to communicate over. Most Wifi-routers allow you to set the frequency channel in the settings. I used this application to see what my neighbours are broadcasting on:

http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

Now my wireless network has less chatting of neighbouring routers to filter out, improving bandwith.

Also do realise that wireless bandwith (depends on which IEEE 802.11 standard a,b,g,n your wifi router supports) hardly ever catces up with cable connections. Worst case is IEEE 802.11b (max 11 Mbit), that's an order of magnitude slower than your average cabled Fast-Ethernet (100Mbit). IEEE 802.11g can do upto 54Mbit, which is only halve. Best is to have IEEE 802.11n. (100Mbit min. to 540 Mbit) But those are just max ratings, routers usually throttle down if there is too much noise on the frequency channel they receive on. My advise, reconsider your no-cable/wireless-only requirement, or make sure you both can use IEEE 802.11n.

OK - I adjusted the memory from the stock 100mb to 2G, that helped a good bit. He doesn't have the collection problem - though he is still getting booted randomly.

Tick is averaging about 6.xx ms total. Level 0 is where its high, level 1 and 2 are very low.

Good info there Pisces - unfortunately wireless is the only option for me in this case. We are using N devices. Channel wise we are clear, not much cross signal.

Thanks for the help all - and any additional input is welcome as well.

It's the tick rates for the other "dimensions". Level 0 is the normal world.

Getting booted off happens, game is really sensitive to connection quality.

Hello..

I have Minecraft and have played it for a while now. I have the latest version but is this server only for alpha? Lastly, how can I actually get the server name/IP? I'm not the kind to grief and would love to play with you guys!

Server works fine for 1.1 production clients. My son and I are both using the latest version (1.1). The server I started is just he and I, internal to my own LAN, sorry. However the one that is the main topic of discussion in this thread may allow you on.

Oberon
01-20-12, 10:36 PM
Most of the people who do still play are Europeans, myself included. The only reason I'm still awake is because I'm at work ;) Which means, alas, I cannot minecraft. In regards of where you can live, check out the village next to City 20, there might be an unclaimed prebuilt 'villager' house in there. Don't worry about the villagers coming back to claim it...they all seem to have met with...unfortunate...accidents. :O:

There has been a decline of players of late though...but that happens a lot. They'll be back, it's just a rise and fall of popularity.

Was about to suggest we'd pop that on the server, but as oil is such an important

If you want to do anything efficiently in BC, you need combustion engines, which
are the most efficient when ran on fuel, so oil is pretty darn important. :yep:

The oil comes in via the bottom-right pipeline and is stored in the 4 tanks.
From there it's pumped with redstone engines to the 2 refineries which are
powered by 3 fuel combustion engines, which are then cooled by the water
pump behind the refinery.

Well that was a good find for a first oil well. :yep: It finally ran dry and the fuel is
stored away to wait for more oil so I can begin the refining process again from another well.

http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/Dowly/Buildcraft_Fuel.jpg

In total (excluding fuel I used for machinery) I got 9 5-high tanks full and 1 3½ tank.
That's 4000 minutes (~66,5 hrs) of continuous energy for a combustion engine. :yeah:

Unless we limit our oil consumption and distribute fairly.

Oil is needed for anything slightly bigger you plan to do in Buildcraft and really
there is no point in running refineries and such with anything but fuel, so there's
really no way to limit the usage. Besides, larger oil wells are rare, you find the smaller
ones, but those are only good for 20-30 buckets of oil.

But would the redstone contraptions lag the server?

Buildcraft itself adds very little redstone stuff, but you still need to power
everything with redstone, so at the very least the usage of RS on the server
would peak.

How much power would you get from that? Also if we're working together to build a city/structure/what have you. We could share the oil anyways.

If creative mode lets you spawn objects from buildcraft, we could technically have endless oil.

Either way, I'm intrigued and getting Buildcraft for myself, it would just be nice to have other people playing too. I'd host a smaller Buildcraft server for those interested, but my upload is locked at .40mbps

Oberon
01-21-12, 08:54 PM
Until Technic is SMP compatible though (and I hope that day comes soon that I can Chernobyl the server) I think it wouldn't hurt to give Buildcraft a try. If we keep the current map then we can always come back to it after a time and it'll be fresh again.

We'll need to put plenty of links about on the front page and that to make sure peeps download it right. It's pretty easy to do, even has its own little custom installer.

I just have to figure out what all the stuff does :haha: I think I'll be watching a few videos later.

I don't know if it's a minecraft bug, or a Buildcraft bug, but my furnace will only hold one finished product, even if the finished product should stack. So if I put in 5 iron ore, I'll only get 1 iron ore. The only way to fix this is if I manually remove the iron 1 by one.

Railcraft is a bit pointless without Buildcraft.

Edit2: For those interested, here's a tutorial on how to make multiple MC installs
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/794676-how-to-install-multiple-copies-of-minecraft/

Edit3: It's pretty simple to do, all I did was create the .bat file with the following text inside
set APPDATA=-where you want the mod/new .minecraft-
-location of your minecraft.exe-For example:
set APPDATA=C:\Users\Andrew\Desktop\Minecraft Mods\Buildcraft\
C:\Users\Andrew\Desktop\minecraft.exeIt then creates a new .minecraft in my Buildcraft folder, where I can modify the game.

When you launch through the .exe it'll run the base unmodified game, when you run through the .bat file, it'll load the modified version.

As for creating the .bat all you need to do is create a text file and either save it as text.bat or turn on file extensions and turn the .txt into .bat.

To edit bat's just right click on them and hit edit, it'll open notepad automatically.

Equivilent Exchange comes standard with Technic Pack.

Equivilant exchange and Technic would require a downgrade to 1.0. Right now I'm fine with my current set up.

After offering my first born son, Arc is in favor of adding mods to the server, we just need to come to an agreement with what everyone wants.

I'm in favor of what I like to call "Spike Pack" which is what I'm using right now. Which features:
Buildcraft(We'd try to get a map with a desert, and thus oil)
Railcraft
Treecapicator(hit a tree with an axe, get all the wood)
and
Laser Mod.

Laser mod may not work with MP, so it can easily be dropped(It only really adds lasers that can damage and laser sensors(like those things you see in Private garages)

I don't see why we also couldn't add Steve's Carts and Mo' Creatures if anyone is in favor. Although we should try to keep redstone mods and mods that don't have server support out.

I would also be in favor of Industrial Craft, and Equivalent Exchange, but these are both in 1.0.

Any suggestions?

Ah, that would be a good reason. As far it looks they seem to be mostly the same, with Railcraft(I keep typing Railworks) being more realistic, and working with Buildcraft.

I was having a look at the Railcraft to do list and it has some nice things in there such as:
Linked carts (I.E. Trains :D)
Vacuum carts that suck up items in a radius around it and then put them in a linked chest cart
IC2 energy transport cart+Energy laser rails that run between two blocks via IC2 energy
Finally, a Blast furnace and steel(If you turn iron into steel you'll get more "Bang for your Buck").

I'm excited for it. :haha:

I've updated the Modpack to include TMI, Redpower 2, and IC2.

Although I haven't uploaded. If anyone is interested I'll sit through Arc's really really really slow upload speeds(:O:).

Alternatively you can just add Redpower2 and IC2's files(5-6 zips in redpower's case, and 1 .jar for IC2) to the /mods folder. TMI requires you dragging folders from it's .zip into you're .minecraft.jar.

If you're going to use JGSME to install you need to install JGSME anywhere on your computer(you can't install it to roaming right off the bat) and then drag the files over into your roaming/.minecraft . Once you're done with that, rename JGSME's mod folder to something like /MODS2 or /MODSJSGME, and unzip the mod pack there.

Make sure you leave the base /mods folder alone, as this is where Railcraft, Buildcraft, IC2 and Redpower 2 need to go, and Modloader+ModloaderMP(Both are already installed in the .jar I supplied) only read from the /mods folder.

Why not just upload it to Mediafire or something? :06:

Save files don't hurt anyone. :O:

Edit: Also stop pointing out cool mods, as I end up wanting them. :haha:

Although Forestry requires ID's to be changed to work with Railcraft, and apparently doesn't work with TMI at this moment.

Yes plz upload to mediafire or something. I seem to be having troubles logging into arcs TS3 server. Also, Technic Pack and TMI/NEI is really not working for me so I might just go use your stuff. Also, if you can, use NEI (Not enough Items) instead of TMI. offers same package with a lot more tweaks and extra goodies.

Edit: Also has a plug-in for redpower

Bah. Fine I'll upload it to Mediafire but I'm only going to give the address to those who PM me.

I'm deleting my minecraft and starting from scratch so I can add in NEI instead of TMI, I'm also adding forestry craft.

This will be the final mod package, and I wont touch it unless there is an update to the mods(or until EE is released)

Also, Mediafire is facing trial in the next 90 days, so they may not be around for that much longer. But I'll still upload it.

TS3 at the moment is only used for Uploading our Failure of Nation files.

Kraut's probably can't download from it as he's not "Registered" to the server.

@Krauts: I'm working my way through my install and seeing what's going wrong. Everything was fine until I added ENI, and CJB(a mod spawner). I've removed CJB(I was going to use it to remove certain mob spawns in order to do an AAR), but it seems to not play nice.

As of right now I'm trying to see if the problem lies in ENI or the Forestry mod

Edit: I just realized I've been using Buildcraft 2.x while Forestry works with 3.x. That may be the issue.

I need to do some errands, so when I get back I'll finish getting 3.x and uploading it. Hopefully I'll have it by later tonight

Also, one of the issues was because I had lost my IC2 file and re downloaded it, but accidentally got the 1.0 version. :damn:

Dowly
01-25-12, 01:08 PM
TMI seems to work just fine with Forestry, same with the 1.64 IC2. Both should
work now with TMI (both mods are in .jar files instead of .zip, so that's prolly
why they don't work as other mods with TMI).

Oh and better keep good track on the mods, IC2 is getting constant updates,
1.62 was released on 23th, there was a hotfix yesterday, which was shortly after
changed to full 1.64 release. :O:

BTW Spike, Advanced Machines isn't integrated fully to IC2, so have to wait for
that to be updated too. :hmmm: Really need that rotary macerator. :yep:

Alright after much cajoling, yelling, hair pulling, and hitting it with a crowbar, I've finally gotten the mod pack together and working!

Introducing, drum roll please....

Spikecraft!(See, shamelessly throwing other peoples mods together).

The main mods in my "mod package" are:

Redpower 2
IC2
Railcraft
Buildcraft
Forestry mod
and
Laser mod

The minor mods are:
Not Enough Item's(TMI but with more options)
Treecapitator(hit a tree with an axe, get all the wood at once)
CJB(This is a lot of smaller mods)
IDresolver(Has a prompt allowing you to resolve any BlockID conflicts)

Background and structural mods:
ModLoader
ModLoaderMP
MinecraftForge
GUIAPI
Codechicken's Core

I'm currently uploading the file into Mediafire and then I'll send the links to those who request through PM.

Three notes:
1. CJB has a lot of features that I've turned off when I compressed the file. Such as Teleports, a minimap, and the ability to turn off certain mobs. It also adds two new mobs(Bunny's and Dog's, both of which I turned off). To turn on features that you want, or just to see what it offers press the Y key.

2.If you don't want to use Not Enough Items, open your inventory and click options. From here you can turn it off. If at any point you want to turn it back on, open your inventory and go back to options.

3. IDresolver adds text to the top right corner of the main menu screen. This Text just tells you how many free id's you have left, and doesn't hinder the game.

Pics from Upcoming ER:3C

http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/1971/controlbuildingentrance.png

Here is the outer Control Building shell. made of a simple layer of smooth stone, it is currently built into the side of a hill. Once complete, the top half of the box will be covered in dirt to conform to the landscape

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/9576/controlroomlights2.png

Simple Light controls for the control room so far. What I've got up is on the right side the lighting of the entire control room, whilst the switch on the left denotes the flashing redlights so, if I am gone I will know whether I left the Reactor on or not.

http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/5041/reactortunnelcasing3.png

Cover of the tunnel leading down to the inner reactor areas, on top of the shell you can see two red lights which, when turned on pulse every 3 seconds. This tunnel cover is 1 layer of reinforced stone.

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/7034/reactorinnercasing4.png

This is a few of the interior reactor areas. As of yet it is not tunnelled out yet, this area will be quite large with a couple of miscellaneous layers of materials sitting between the outside layer of rock and the inner reactor walls. (Materials such as stone, sand, gravel and obsidian will be layered to test if they offer any protection against possible blasts.)

http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/9478/innerreactorcasingwidth.png

This is the width of the inner reactor chambers shell. Within these 3 layers of reinforced stone, two reactors will be suspended in water and covered by another 4 layers of reinforced stone to shield the outside from any possible meltdowns.

More to come as I build.

Also, can anyone help me with the doors? I managed to get the outer doors and the inner doors synchronized, but the tunnel cover doors I can't get, mainly due to the limited space I have available to stuff redwire stuff into.

This was next to my spawn in my previous world. :hmmm:

Tired of living on the ground with all the common livestock and rabble? Tired of creepers standing outside your doors waiting for you to come out?

Move into Spike's Modular house blocks!

Essentially I'm building what looks like a giant oil rig. Each base is 10 meters a part, and supports 15x15 squares up top, each "section" has an area of 225 blocks on the top. Whenever I want more room, I just add another section.

Most of base is made out of CF foam with the rest being constructed out of cobblestone.

Ideally I'd like to set up a blueprint that Buildcraft can follow(Hopefully buildcraft spawned CF foam will harden), which will allow me to just plop down a machine and have it add in any other sections I want.

While it may be cheaper to build on the ground, I find it much cooler this way. :O:

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a108/Tetsou88/2012-01-29_175620.png
A view from one of the first 6 "bases" I constructed, you can see the other 5.

What an unfinished "base" looks like.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a108/Tetsou88/2012-01-31_114801.png
Six semi-finished sections. The 2 deep section will be covered and act as a crawl space for redstone and other wiring.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a108/Tetsou88/2012-01-31_114820.png
View from underneath(I may need to add more lighting to prevent mobs from spawning in the day) I'm also going to build a rail station on the bottom.

I got interested in MC when I went searching for software that could simulate a mechanical CPU.

I first found the Dwarf Fortress game, where a guy has incredibly "built" (indirectly as the "dwarves" do the building), a "water cpu"

http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/User:Jong/Dwarven_Computer
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=49641.0
http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-8269

His "cpu" while it works, is fairly crypytic (heh maybe even more cryptic than an actual one).

I then found Minecraft, and started playing with redstone circuits.

Building even a single FlipFlop can be fairly complex and then putting them together to build even a "small' ram results in huge amounts of "real estate"

I then found this great plugin (for M.C. Bukkit based servers) :

http://eisental.github.com/RedstoneChips/

.. which makes building "cpu stuff" quite easy

I've started to build a "simple" (in real world terms) cpu ... which turns out ain't that simple !

I was just reading through the mojang website and have picked up several "features" of 1.2

Jungle biomes
Oceletes and Kittens(we've already known both of these)
New "Anvil" world generation system allowing up to 4000+ Block ID's(perfect for mods, I personally only have 17 available block id's left) and a new max height of 256(old was 186 or something).
NPC's in villages will "find" houses inside the village and live there
If the NPC has a house, it'll have children(baby NPC's)
Biome information will be editable with editing programs
Villages may not be "safe" on certain nights.
Zombies can break down wooden doors on hard.

I honestly only care about the new block id range, and the new Sky limit. Although I'll stay with 1.1 until all the mods get ported.

I'm not even sure why it went off. :-?

I only had 6 uranium sells in there. I haven't even begun experimenting with nuclear tech yet, this was just to have a power source to mess around with Power Crystals crossover mod(adds an Electrical engine to run Buildcraft stuff with EU, 3 generators(one for each voltage level) to turn buildcraft fuel into energy, a neat little water turbine which lets you seperate water and oil, and also turns any water that goes into it into energy, and a geothermal input thing, which lets you pipe lava directly into the unit).

I think you might have been pushing it with six. Also is that half of the reactor exposed out of the water? If so, then that's probably where you went wrong, submerge the whole thing. I think you can make cooling rods too or something like that, those are good. :yep:

Spike88
02-19-12, 10:23 AM
That thing sticking out of the water was a reactor chamber.. Or something. I couldn't place it by itself, but could stick it to the submerged part.

Krauter
02-19-12, 01:50 PM
When running a reactor you need to have internal cooling ie cooling rods and reactor plates. Exterior cooling wont cut it. Also I'd your going to cool with water. Make sure to have a 3x3 sphere of water so the entire reactor (and it's chambers) are encased in water. Finally, six uranium rods is pushing it :p even with coolant

Wow. Currently exploring the demo here, thought that was huge. Then I open this thread and you've got cake and bunnies and nuclear reactor mods and gods know what. I'm astounded.

So want this game, but given how addictive the demo is, I think I'm better of not getting it.

Edit: just wondering, is there a mod/setting for the full game that makes it impossible to build/destroy blocks with enemies nearby? Always feels like cheating when a zombie or creeper is headed my way in a dungeon and I just grab some cobblestone and wall him off:03:.

I'm using:

Industrial craft 2- adds machines that let you get more yield from mining, adds automated mining, and several end game pieces of armor. It also adds power to run the machines(from coal generators, to wind generators, to nuclear power). Also adds a minIng drill and chainsaw

Red power2- Adds compressed red stone logic circuits(and, or, nor, timers, etc) that fit into 1 block space, red stone lights, red stone alloy(works like regular rs, but you can run it up walls and on roofs) half blocks, corner blocks, panels, volcanoes, gemstones(work like diamond but with less durability). Also adds a sorting machine.

Buildcraft- adds pipes for pumping stuff, oil which you can refine to fuel. More automated mining(less precise than industrial crafts) automated building systems.

Railcraft- adds more rails, coke(burns longer than coal), more carts, let's you automate rail systems with fancy sensors.

Laser mod- adds different lasers for different things.

Forestry mod- Automates plant growing, adds bees.

Equivilant exchange- adds alchemy from full metal alchemist(can turn materials into other items) also adds some nifty late game equipment

CJB- adds a bunch of smaller mods(minI map, etc).

Treecapitator- hit a tree with an axe and get all the wood(like terraria)

Somnia- Simulates the world while you sleep(Ovens still burn, etc) also lets you sleep at any time.

Computercraft- adds a programmable computer( think dos) letting you write your own programs( you could have it so that you need to type a password for a door to open, etc.)

Wireless redstone- self explanatory

Advanced Machines- adds higher end machines to industrial craft

Force field- adds force fields to industrial craft

Power crystals buildcraft/ industrial craft crossover. Let's you use industrial craft power to run buildcraft engines, and adds a way to use fuel to create energy.

Teleport pipes- adds teleport pipes to buildcraft

Zepplin mod- look it up, it's pretty cool

Elevator mod

And then a couple mods to get everything running

More Nuclear testing.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a108/Tetsou88/2012-02-22_174714.png
Here I set up a nuclear reactor in the center of a Testificate village to see the damage. Note that the hole would be deeper if Flat world generation did not have a layer of obsidian so close to the surface.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a108/Tetsou88/2012-02-22_174725.png

Here I was experimenting with a safety switch. A wood block(flamable) was put near the reactor with a redstone torch on it. The hopes was that if the block caught on fire, it would drop it's torch, toggling an OR gate and shutting off the reactor. Sadly, the reactor exploded first. I may try moving the block closer.

I think there may be an error that causes it to crash when an animal takes damage(although, they didn't seem to crash the game when I nuked them several times). I'm going to run a simple crash report and see if I can resolve the issue without re-modding everything. I'll upload a new file once I figure out the issue.

@Krauts, My system has an OR gate in it that I can turn off the reactor when I need too, but I would like an emergency self shut off in the event of something going wrong while I'm elsewhere.

To install it, open your minecraft.jar with winrar(I think winzip works too), like you would to put texture packs in(before we had the texture pack function). Next open the NEI.zip, and drag all the files inside it to your open Minecraft.jar

If you want to add an inventory management, just download this:

I have succesfully created an emergency auto-shut off for my reactor(s).

All I did was throw a red stone torch on the side of the MFSU for the reactor. When the reactor gets too hot, the MFSU explodes. This emits a redstone signal, triggering an OR gate(this gate is also used to shut down the reactor manually from the control room). I also threw in a flashing red light system(although it seems to lag) and an alarm. I think I'll disregard the lights and just use the alarm.

So I'm hoping to finish this texture pack and keep it updated with the latest versions of all the mods in Spikecraft.

But! I need help deciding the theme. I'm stuck somewhere between a Warhammer 40K Space marine theme, or a dokucraft/RPG type theme.

I have some neat ideas for both. If I went W40k, I'd turn the iron sword into a combat dagger type deal, the diamond sword into a chain sword :D. Leather armor would be scout (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/File:Scoutpic1.jpg#.T07gBfXCbFs) armor, iron would be regular power armor, and diamond would be terminator armor(I don't know how well I could pull off the bulkiness, although I can muck about). I don't know if this would be too hard.

Edit: The other issue with a Space marine Pack is the wooden objects(doors, chests, etc, and the alchemical objects from EE. I could make them look like metal, but I think that's a bit lame. Or, I could make them RPGy, and just make them blend with the Space Marine stuff. For example a wooden crafting table with the blood ravens/Ultramarines logo on it. Etc.

I just think that it's a shame that the glory days seem to be over, I mean, I know Dowly does a bit here and there but compared to what we had on the last map. It just seems...lacking. Either that or we form a small city like place on someone elses server, like the RPS server. Could create City 21 there perhaps.

dragon and 1 as free for all last man standing thing.

Basically, the only difference to normal hardcore mode is that only golden apples
and potions heal you.

Extreme survival? I like that. Think everyone is kinda done building the "biggest towwa evva!11" at this point. Certainly adds more purpose to the game.

Or a purpose at all really.

Crécy
04-05-12, 08:12 AM
Sounds good! :yeah:

Dowly
04-05-12, 08:25 AM
Yeah, it looks like fun and everyone's going to have to play together, so that's
always good. :yep:

Too bad the mod doesn't have any feature for those who die, think they just
respawn normally. But guess we can agree that when someone dies he leaves
the server?

Kinda defeats the purpose if we just respawn back and go on as if nothing happened. :hmmm:

Crécy

But guess we can agree that when someone dies he leaves

Was thinking the same. Although, I doubt it's fun if there's like two players left for ages... Dead ones would have to wait until they are dead to start a new game.

Dowly
04-05-12, 08:58 AM
That would be the downside of it, yeah. But the whole point of hardcore is "dead is dead",
otherwise there's no point in it. Low on health? Jump off of a cliff and respawn
back at your bed with full health. :O:

But if there's only 2 left and they are nowhere near to getting to the End, then the two can
just agree to leave it at that and restart with everyone alive again.

Spike88
04-05-12, 09:25 AM
Could go back to 1.2.4 and stay there untill all the mods catch up.

Isn't that rather similar to Buildcraft? :06:

No, Redpower 2 adds Marble, Volcanoes, and most importantly the ability to run red wire up walls. It also adds compressed logic gates.

Arclight
04-05-12, 09:52 AM
So that instead of Buildcraft then? I'm rather averse to adding 2 mods that add similar things.

Dowly
04-05-12, 10:11 AM
No, RP2 over the other mods. The two aren't similar at all. :03:

Err.. should I try and set my server up for the Ultra Hardcore stuff, so people
who die can jump to Arc's server to do stuff?

If only I can figure out how to set it up. :O:

And no idea how the pings will be.

Crécy

Buildcraft and Redpower 2 are two different things. Buildcraft adds oil, pumps, and pipes. Redpower adds redstone that can be run along walls, ontop of walls, compressed circuits, redstone lights, panels, etc.

Arclight
04-05-12, 11:47 AM
Gotcha. Couldn't be bothered to read over a 1000 pages on a forum (that's just RP2), so I don't have the clearest picture of how all this relates to each other. Did read some comments about RP2 copying some BC features, hence the question.

Shoudn't we do another night of causing large explosions?

The winner can be the person who wipes the most Pr0n off of Arc's hard drive. :haha:

Right, tested my server with Arclight earlier today and it seems to be working.
So, if Arc's going to apply mods to his server, then I can opt to host
the ultra hardcore stuff, but not 24/7, probably in a similar style as other games
we play i.e. whenever there's players I put it up for a few hours.

But let's just agree that no one goes to the Nether alone, it's dangerous as was
proven by PauseUnpause in the 2nd season of the Mindcrack peeps' try:

*VintageBeef, Guude & Baj arguing at their base about a pressure plate operated gate*

PauseUnpause (in a faint, teary voice): Guys.. can we stop fighting...

*argument continues*

PauseUnpause (whimpering): Guys.. guys.. guys.. aah..
Beef: What's going on with you, man? You have to speak up!
PauseUnpause: Blaze hit me...
Beef: Oh, a blaze hit you?
PauseUnpause: I have half a ****ing heart...
Beef: What are you doing there all by yourself!?
PauseUnpause: I tried to be the ****ing hero of the group...
Beef: Oh God...
Guude: Told you not to, man. Told you not to.

*everyone continues their business*

Beef: Umm... should we go help him?

Mright, I will be putting the Ultra Hardcore server up tonight (dunno exact time)
mainly to see if the mod works and how bad/good the lag is.

Anyone interesting in joining can PM me via subsim or contact via Steam for
the IP.

I'll make another post when the server is up.

Needed: Minecraft 1.2.5 and the 1.2.5. xxxHardcorexxx mod:
http://d74g0n.com/mod/

AFAIK, clients only need to install the SSP version (1.2.5. comes with both SSP & SMP).

Also, avoid abandoned mines.

* also also: I still suck at digging. The basement opened up into a cave and I struck a lava lake with my mine.

Dowly
04-07-12, 04:57 AM
Your luck with mines is the same as mine. In the current "main" server map,
there's an abandoned mine under my house. Decided to make a portal in
the Nether to get far away and make another mine there: abandoned mine under
the spot. :nope:

Anywho, server's coming up for undefined period of time. Gonna see if I can
find some diamonds if we are going to use diamond blocks to revive people. :hmmm:

Also, chickens.

Arclight
04-07-12, 05:00 AM
Oh, could turn the fail-mine into a sacrificial site. Got a lava lake below and can build a temple up top. :D

How many would be interested in trying out one of Vechs' Super Hostile maps?

The concept is simple: Find all 16 different colored wools and craft or find iron,
gold and diamond block and place them all to the victory monument to win.

Just saw he's released a new SH map, this time going away from the somewhat
linear style to a more open "continental" style as he puts it. :hmmm:

EDIT: Ow and it's a team effort thingy, not a free-for-all.

Kapitän Schneider
04-14-12, 01:11 PM
I'll give a +1 to this.

Arclight
04-15-12, 06:14 AM
Sounds like a plan.

I'm still waiting for those mods to be updated btw. Seems Buildcraft skipped 1.2.4 and went right to 1.2.5, so now it comes down to the others catching up.

Dowly
04-15-12, 07:00 AM
What kind of Vechs map we should try? :hmmm:

The linear maps are harder, but probably faster to play through. Pretty much
have to be played when everyone is able to play.

The continental map is closer to vanilla Minecraft, one big continent with added
structures, dungeons etc. Probably works better if everyone can't join at the
same time.

Arclight
04-15-12, 07:12 AM
I'd have to say continental one then. If only because it's bigger. :D

I'd say cut out all the minor mods, just keeping Buildcraft, Industrail Craft, RailCraft, Red Power 2, Forestry, and maybe Equivilant Exchange.

In other news, can someone provide me with a refresher course of how to run two different versions of Minecraft (aka one with mods and one vanilla)?
