I might have found the solution for the TypeII problem! It seems that a crash happens if the TypeII is declared as a "docked ship", I opened the TypeII layer on the mission editor and added 2 waypoints to both TypeII's inside Kiel and deselected the docked ship option and voilà! I could start a new Total_Germany career without crashes.
Just don't ask me why this happens! :)

Thanks for the reports guys:salute:
There are too many to reply to each one, but I will tomorrow:yep:
As you can all gather there is something wrong with the OHII:hmmm:
Does anyone get this ctd with OHII on its own - I know that Captian73 gets it wil IRAI and DrJones UI
Doing a few quick checks tonight I have found a layer that is wrong and will be placing UK DDs in the Danzig bay - this is an error and will be removed.
As for the ctd - has anyone sunk a Polish unit and not CTD?
Re-lifeboat error - not sure I will check on this soon
Sorry I cant spend more time tonight - I will be back tomorrow:up:
Yes I've have sobers mega-mod list loaded up. It takes 15 minutes to start the game, then when I try to start a new campaign it try's to load then exits to the u-play screen. It's very nerve racking. Hopefully a fix can be found. I also made sure to skip the tutorial at the start.:hmmm:

Sure. Just copy this to the Total_Germany folder, and make sure you have Total_Germany.pj without the TypeII layer commented out.
http://www.mediafire.com/?ga1mgxt5a4pmmad
I just did this for the Kiel harbor, maybe if you approach other harbors with docked TypeIIs there will be a crash.
Try to start a new campaign and see if it works. It's working here, tested many times.

I came to the Danzig Bay on the night of August 31 to September 1.. dived to 30 meters.. up to periscope depth at 6 AM.. the whole Bay was full by British destroyers.. two German Schleswig-Holstein were near the Hela (is this OK?).. one Polish sub (at least I think that was Polish sub).. then several Polish DDs were spawned near the Danzig.. status - docked.. it was just a massacre :shifty:..

Maybe they were getting ready for this attack (Battle of Hel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Hel)):
German naval units, including old battleships Schleswig-Holstein and Schlesien, shelled the Hel peninsula from 18 September, but with little effect
...or they are standing in for the two destroyers Z1 Leberecht Maass and Z9 Wolfgang Zenker (see below)

By that date, there should be only one Polish destoyer, ORP Wicher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORP_Wicher_(1928)) (the other Polish destroyers having set off for Britain on 29 Aug in what is known as Peking Plan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Peking)), and it shouldn't be at dock near Danzig (from where she had sailed, bound for Hel, together with 1 large minelayer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORP_Gryf_(1936)), 6 small minelayers, and 2 patrol vessels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filin_class_guard_ship) in what became known as the Battle of Danzig (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Danzig_Bay)) but operating off Hel, where she was supposed to cover a (cancelled) minelaying operation. On 2 September Wicher returned to Hel and discovered that the operation had been called off. On 3 Sept, while still at dock, she faced successfully an attack by two German Z1934-Class destroyers and 2 air raids, but later that day she was sunk by a third air raid.

Interesting! I mentioned a few posts back that one of the errors found by SH5Validator was about lifeboats on the Polish roster:
Roster errors:
G:\SH5\data\Roster\Poland\Sea\LifeboatSmall.cfg UnitClass LifeboatSmall not defined @ line number 7
Maybe it might have something to do with CTD and Polish ships....?
Problem went away when SH5Lifeboats_by_Rongel_TDW_stoianm_v2.1 is installed for me.
Yes, I got that error in my newest validator error log from last night, too. I do not understand how to change the class error. I have been comparing to Lifeboatlarge. (Using SH5Lifeboat_Wooden ver. 0.2 as an additional reference)
Thanks for the reports guys:salute:

New update:
Why is Poland the only **Country** in the OHII v2.1 data\roster\**Country**\sea folder to have LifeBoatLarge.cfg and LifeboatSmall.cfg? (no other mods installed for testing).:timeout::timeout:
Could these be the cause all of CTDs? Hasn't mods been created in the past that creates lifeboat survivors once the main ship is destroyed?:salute::up:
Coincidentally, these LifeBoat**name**.cfg files in OHII v2.1 have the same file dates (about 5/06/2011) as LightmapTextureName=data/Sea/NLifeBoat The mod SH5Lifeboats_by_Rongel_TDW_stoianm_v2.1 has most countries listed in the folder data\roster\**Country**\sea using LifeBoatLarge.cfg and LifeboatSmall.cfg files.
SH5Lifeboat_Wooden ver. 0.2 only uses LifeBoatLarge.cfg with dates around 03/13/2013 for most countries listed in data\roster\**Country**\sea.
The lifeboat**.cfg file are missing the files referenced inLightmapTextureName=data/Sea/NLifeBoat****etc. Added SH5Lifeboats_by_Rongel_TDW_stoianm_v2.1 mod and now SH5 validator has less errors, 2 were lifeboat***.cfg line # 7 issues.Time to run a game and see if it loads with less mods installed.

Hi Scümbagfuhrer:salute:
As far as we know there are only a few options for why this may happen.
If you have patched your exe with TDWs patcher - do not apply the orbiter fix
The ships sunk are not within or the correct type for the campaign - yours look ok:up:
You must also launch your game with the uplay launcher (no cracked exe):03:

Generic Patcher by TheDarkWraith requires only a regular sh5.exe, not the steam..
PATCHES ARE NOT CUMULATIVE! YOU APPLY THE PATCHES YOU WANT ENABLED. i.e.: if you want patch 1 and patch 2 then you need to apply both patches
For non-Steam versions of the SH5.exe:

Using this test patch with all my mods including the wooden lifeboats mod I left port and completed the Danzig mission sinking the first Polish destroyer I came across and now headed back.
Not a single CTD and nothing out of the ordinary that I've notice. Even got caught off guard after sinking the destroyer when three of his buddies came swooping in to the scene running at 36 knots with cannons blazing. It was night and very dark so with some patience and a little stealth we managed to sneak away and get the heck outa there. :)
Nice work on the test patch. :salute:

04-27-13, 01:06 PM
Thanks guys:salute:
The fix patch had some work where I redid parts of the Danzig attack to keep it historical (:O:)
the actual fixes were:-
Removed the docked typeII uboats and changed them to waypoint led.
I am not sure if I will keep the typeII in the actual patch:hmmm: - there must be an error in a common mod where some could load them and some could not. I am sure this is not an OHII issue but rather another mod.
So - seeing as we all need to have more than one mod for this game - I may take that out until we can find the real issue.
Also - I added Rongels lifeboat mod to fix the issue of the ctd with the polish ships. I think this was caused by the roster entry that Mike noticed. Somehow it has gotten into the OHII mod and when it tried to spawn lifeboat - some did not have the sea folder entry to produce then = ctd.
As I cant remove a file for the main mod (until next version) the patch had to fill the gap. So adding the rest of the files was the only fix.
@Rongel - I hope this is ok:oops:
I will leave the test patch for a few days to be sure all is ok - I am still a wee bit worried about the luftwaffe air strikes I have added to the bay.
There are four attacks for three days - SH5 air attacks on harbours has not worked well in the past. I would like to hear if any issues are happening as a result. If they are I can remove them before the patch propper is set.
Sink em all:arrgh!:
Trevally.

Trevally, the CTDs might be caused by the fact that the war begins on the 30/8/1939. I'm developing a mod, and I just used the OHII v.2.0 campaign.cfg and campaign.tsr files, and everything works fine.
Ahh...just realised i'm still using V2.0...might explain why i don't have the CTDs said above! :O:
BTW, Choum french translation for V2.1 is working fine so far with V2.0 :03:

Generic Patcher by TheDarkWraith requires only a regular sh5.exe, not the steam..
So I can't play Open Horizon II?
Ok, Choum, i revised your french translation and corrected few mistakes and grammar errors.
You also forgot to translate some files (as in Monsun gruppe) :yep:
You can get it here, and if Trevally wants to update thread with it, no problem :salute:

Test fix for OHIIv2.1 Full http://www.4sync.com/archive/Bn7pgVh_/OHIIv21_test_patch1_Full.htmlDue to the nature of the fix - can you please install this patch directly after OHII. I must be before any lifeboat mod that you use.
Please start a new career and let me know how you get on.
Thanks everyone who has helped and for your patience - I know how frustrating ctds can be
Thanks Trevally! :yeah: He graduated from the Polish company! CTD was not!

http://www.4sync.com/archive/PSTJPK8...tch2_Full.html (http://www.4sync.com/archive/PSTJPK8x/OHIIv21_test_patch2_Full.html)

Hi Cyber
I dont think that it the cause of the issue with v2.1
The game can be set to switch any country through three setting of war status by date and can switch mid patrol.
I think the first issue was that the game did not load - now this was only for some users - so this shows that there was not an error in OHII - but that OHII together with some other code caused a ctd during loading. For many this was fixed by removing the docked TypeII boat from Kiel.
So what other mod effects that unit?
The second CTD was caused when a Polish ship was sunk - Again this was only with some users. I have a feeling the Mike was correct here and that the roster was at fault by having a Polish lifeboat with no actual unit in the mod. I checked other country rosters and they did not have this lifeboat. So this has gotten into my mod somehow (me not using a clean game to mod with:oops:). I think that users who had a lifeboad mod (either rongels or Targor Avelanys) did not get this error.
The above is only a guess and I am waiting for more results from people using the mod.
So please everyone - STOP using v2.0 and help me out by using v2.1 and giving me feedback - :D
Thanks Trevally! :yeah: He graduated from the Polish company! CTD was not!

I spent a couple of days in the Danzig Bay and still have not seen air attacks :hmmm:.. perhaps this is due to the fact that I have sunk all Polish DDs :06:..
As far as I know, there were at least 6 German air raids on Polish vessels, during the first 3 days of the conflict.
The first raid, on 1 Sep, was against the Polish port of Gdynia (renamed Gotenhafen by the German) and involved about 30 Stuka's. Moreover, at dusk of the same day, a group of 33 Stuka's attacked a Polish taskforce coming from Danzig and bound for operatins in the Danzig Bay off Hel (see this post (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2047605&postcount=3011) for further detail on its composition). This second attack (Battle of the Danzig Bay) required two successive raids, the first one having been driven back.
I could not find reports on air raids taking place during the following date.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th air raids that I know of happened between the mornig and the early afternoon (until 3 PM) of 3 Sep, and were driven against the port of Hel, were the destroyer ORP Wicher and the minelayer ORP Gryf -who had survived the Battle of the Danzig Bay- were moored. These raids had been preceded early the same day by a naval attack carried out by the two German destroyers Z1 Leberecht Maass and Z9 Wolfgang Zenker.
I wanted to ask you ... We can see in the future work of the German submarines in the Norwegian company (the capture of Narvik)!?

Hello,
Me I see airplane attack during total germany, a german plane who sink merchant vessel.
Great:yeah:
I've got one CTD when a dock poland vessel in danzig bay explode.
No problem with other escort poland vessel around the bay.
Sounds more likely graphic or memory reason for CTD :hmmm:
Ah - this could be the bug I was wary of:hmmm:
I used placed units to do these attacks rather than letting an airfield send them. This allowed me to restrict the number of planes attacking at any one time.
Air raids by planes from airfields can be up to 10 to 15 by the time ctd always happened. It looked great with all the harbour ships firing and planes dropping bomb - but always CTD
So this ship being bombed and sunk with a ctd is what I need to check.
Why can a uboat and/or ship sink ships in a harbour but planes cause ctds:06:
So if anyone sees air attacks in this campaign - please post you results:up:
I spotted another thing, late evening of August 31 I was able to refit in Hel.. I don't know is this an error or not.. just inform you about it :salute:

:haha:
Maybe, making German units axis-aligned since the beginning of the campaign would prevent neutral ports from refitting our boat :hmmm:
On a side note: what about making the port of Memel (Klaipėda - Lithuania) our starting base. There is a reason for me asking it: the few type VII U-boats which took part into Baltic Operations during the first days of the war, departed from Memel without exceptions. I have read somewhere that they were originally intended to intercept the 3 Polish destroyers bound to England, but as the Peking Plan took place a few days before the beginning of open hostilities, they were called back in Kiel and Wilhelmshaven. Imho an Atlantic boat based in Kiel being ordered to head for the Baltic rather than for the more promising Atlantic and North Sea theatres, makes little historical sense. :hmm2:

Like wise the Polish ships - I had to use DDs to defend (lay mines:D) the bay.
If you want, we can check what the Polish units involved in The Battle of the Danzig Bay looked like, look for existing SH5/imported units resembling them, clone them, rearm them (even repaint them, if required), and put them in game as Polish vessels. What do you think?

Got me curious since I am 50% Lithuanian ancestry. Never knew about this part of history before.
Taken from ref:
Memel history (http://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/memel/memel1.html)
In December 1938, during elections to the local Parliament, the local German Nazis received 26 out of 29 seats, as a result of which the city became in fact a part of the German Reich. On the 22nd of March 1939 the German army entered Memel and the city and region were officially annexed to Germany, the city Memel serving as a base for the German navy during WW2.
On January the 28th 1945 Memel was liberated by the Red Army from Nazi rule. About 28% of its houses were totally ruined and more than 36% of the others badly damaged. Since then Memel (Klaipeda) and the region is part of Lithuania.
Now I can share a little history as others have on other issues. :D

Memel and Danzig were in fact rewarded by the nazi regime as German cities, and they were home respectively to the 24th and 8th-23rd training flotillas.
Several other cities annexed around the Baltic had the same fate: Gdynia (Gotenhafen), Hel and Stettin in Poland, Baltiysk (Pillau) in Russia and Liepāja (Libau) in Latvia:

While I waited for the Luftwaffe, the German task force (two dreadnoughts and several DDs) entered the bay and sank all the Polish DDs :o.. will the Polish destroyers spawned again? :06:

Ah no - when they are gone they are gone
Get them while they are hot:D
There are 5 subs to get though
I have also set 12 campaign points for CoastalWaters with only 10 needed for total victory - so if this is a fail - the campaign can still be won

I can't see this screen until the game is minimized to trey/desktop..
When the game is minimized process is suspended..
I can't minimize the game while the game is loading..
When CTD occured, the sh5.exe is no longer in the process tree..
Hi mate
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you I took my family on holidays to the beach
For what you need, perhaps an mmc snap in would be better? Microsoft Management Console. Use the computer management snap in and select the performance monitor
With performance monitor you can add your own counters to log and you get full history of all the telemetry for all counters
Best of all, you can do this even remotely from another pc on the network so that you do not load up your test machine with the monitoring
this setup is more advanced than process explorer but is far more feature rich for the sorts of things you need to do

hi guys
I've not been back to SH5 since release but my cousin saw me playing GWX the other day and is interested in giving a subsim a chance however he's more interested in the less complicated ways of SH5. I was thinking of sitting him down with OHII and some of TDWs mods and was wondering what other mods are recommended that play nice with OHII but don't change the original game too much? (besides making it playable heh)
Thanks muchly

This is simply a small patch for the OHII campaign mod. The type IID u-boat included in the game (but only appearing in OHII v.2.1) was incorrectly labeled as a type IIA, but after a bit of research I discovered that it was actually a type IID.

Yes - But only by making a "request mission" and using the recon option. This would allow me to use that actual "take photo" as a trigger to spawn anything.

Really nothing special; as many testers have reported that they couldn't find targets because Lutwaffe and Kriegsmarine battleships had been faster that them, I thought that you could make some (not all) of the scripted raids already featured in BO to be triggered by our reports. Our main role should be to sneak into Polish ports, or into areas where Polish operations are expected, and to provide intelligency for the following (semi-historical) raids.
Detecting and reporting minefields could be another of our tasks. As for my idea on "dynamic" mine laying by Polish units, you could set different triggers so to mimic the fact that each Polish minelayer/minesweeper could have layed x mines every y hours, once they reached their operation area (Bay of Danzig entrance). The more of them and the earlier they are destroyed, the lesser mines are deployed; the later they will reach the mine laying point, the later minefields should start being spawned. The larger the minelaying unit, the more mines it can deploy in one unit of time. Possible? :hmm2:
P.S: I am making good progress with my Polish units research task. Tomorrow I will post an update on it :salute:
I can fix the issue of planes at night - but the fog must be down to Gap:O:

Remove this one as it will stop my fix working - you can add it later when we cet things sorted with OHII
Then start new career
This of course is just my opinion!
But I would like to see the ports are not driving cars, trains and harbor cranes and more ships of other countries (though it is an international port) and more people and nurses (for the sake of these women sailors returns an home)!
But of course it all depends on the features of the game, and from Trevally! :salute:

Hi all.
These questions are for trevally. (and for all)
I recently did a mod that changes the RPM by the hydrophone for all merchants. (included in the full OHII).
My mod changes values of maximum speeds and RPM. Changing within the file. (. sim) value of each vessel "MAX_SPEED" and "eng_rpm".
With OHII mod v2 full no compatibility problem with my mod. Although the game's campaign cimmaron class one tanker does not exceed 12 knots, with my mod reaches 18 and does not affect the campaign.
The main problem is in the full OHII v.2.1. If I install my mod and entered the bunker new campaign or instantly there is a CTD.
Even without installing my mod, I modify the value of any ship not overwritten the OHII v.2.1, and entered the campaign, another CTD. (not normal since for example if I change the value NKMCS_C1B.sim eng_rpm the original, which is not affected by any MOD, then CTD., but if it is not installed the v.2.1 OHII then no problem.
What is the difference between v.2.0 and v2.1 for there to CTD if touched eng_rpm value?

Your happiness is going to be short lived. Once I release the overhaul to the torpedoes you are going to hate historical accuracy/modeling :yep: Gyro problems (course deviations) and depth keeping problems now work correctly :D I've also added a little randomization to the torpedo speed (+- up to 5% of speed selected) and a little randomization to the max range at speed (+- up to 5% of max range at speed). Being an Engineer I know everything has a tolerance. I hate that everything in the game is so 'perfect'. Torpedoes do not travel at a constant speed through the water. Their speed increases/decreases due to current/waves/etc. No two torpedoes are exactly alike in real life but to this game they are. I'm slowly changing this. I've removed all the 'kiddy factors' from the game so there's no dumbing down any of the failure chances. I've also added patches that allow you to disable many of the special abilities related to torpedoes (increase max range and increase speed for some). Still working on it though :salute:

Welcome to the forum jeffgordonfan1 :salute:
The most reliable way is to do changes of your mod list in the bunker/port after completing a mission.
1 Save the game in port
2 Exit SH5
3 Save your current mod list/JSGME mod profile
Whenever you want to change something in your mod list - remember to first save the current JSGME mod profile (.mep file)
In case the new one won't run and you want to go back to the current profile you can just re-load it.
Like this;
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/picture.php?albumid=177&pictureid=6107
4 Deactivate this current JSGME mod list
5 Edit your JSGME mod list
The most convenient way to do changes in your mod list is to edit the JSGME (.mep) file. Go to where you keep your mod profiles (.mep) and open the current mod list.
You can open it with Note Pad - edit (add/delete) whatever you want.
When adding a new mod to a mod profile make sure you add it with EXACTLY the same name as the mod you want to add (otherwise JSGME won't find the added mod and the list won't load).
A good way to add a new mod with the EXACTLY same name is to copy the mod's name from the mod's folder; right click on the mod's folder > click 'change name' (but don't change the name) > just copy the name - paste the name into the mod profile (.mep)
6 Save the mod profile (.mep) with a new name. Make sure you save it in .mep format or it won't work
7 Load the edited mod list in JSGME (make sure you have the new mod in your C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS folder :03:)
8 Start SH5
This way you will always have a copy of a mod list that you know is working.
And, you can add/delete mods without having to remember the mod list load order.
And, you can test new mod lists safely.

works on the Polish Navy are going on. A clone of the stock R class destroyer is now standing in for the Polish minelayer Gryf. In order to accomodate the new armament, I had to add several new bones to the model and since I was at it, I have corrected some mistakes made by devs. The two ships are not identical, but they look pretty similar, the main differences consisting in the presence of a forecastle, a thinner beam width, and funnel closer to the fore superstructure for the British destroyer:

I have also created the ait file for the new ship, with her SOAN historical information. Talking about an unit that we will meet only once in campaign, it seems good enough to me and I won't waste any more of my time on it.
Next unit will be the Bourrasue/Wicher-class destroyer. The ship looks pretty similar to the British Q-R and V/W classes, the main difference being in the number and shape of the funnels. Nonetheless a closer-looking model has already been done for SHIII:

Trevally,
For some reason, i had troubles running your last version on my rig...maybe too much stuff added VS 2.0 :hmmm:
Got 3 unexpected CTDs (2 leaving Kiel - around 60Km far - and one in Dantzig bay) and some bad stuttering when accelerating a bit in open sea...
So i backed up V2.0 :yep:
No big deal, i love V2.0 too!
My question is, if i may , would it be possible (with not that huge work hopefully?) to get a patch for V2.0 with those two V2.1 nice additions:
-Added new port in Spain Cadiz and Las Palmas
-Added new ability to resupply your boat from German supply ships docked neutral ports (Ferrol, Vigo, Cadiz & Las Palmas)

I correct myself: after a second look into both dat ships, I have to say that Uekel's unit is just a V and W class destroyer with one more funnel added, wereas jack_410's ship resambles much more closely the real thing :yep:
You can use the Wicher from Expanded Navies if you want. It's represented by a Type-34 destroyer.
EDIT: Expanded Navies also has the Grom as a Tribal Destroyer.
Thank you sir, I will gladly accept your kind proposal when/if needed :salute:
hmm - not sure
Uekel is not replying to any PM:hmmm:
That is a real pity. Uekel has done a great job with the new units, but as it is now, no many SH5 players can enjoy his mod. If only we could get in touch with him, imo porting his ships and planes to OHII one by one (for making sure that they won't burden too much the campaign) wouldn't be a bad idea at all. :hmm2:
Perhaps we should use the offer from Cybermat?
The Bourrasque/Wicher class detsroyer is one of the very few French warships that have been done for SH5. They served in the French, in the Free French, in the Polish, and even in the British and (for few months) in the Italian navies. Given their wide usage, I think that inporting a better model in SH5 is worth the effort.
I will start importing jack_410's ship, and if I succeed, we will ask him and the GWX team (which also used the ship) for permission to use her into SH5 campaign.
Do you agree? :)

I sunk more than 5 destroyers in Baltic operations before Sep. 3, 1939. No bar graph display shown in the Baltic operations mission statement. As you sink more ships the bar graph would fill in more. On the nav map on the upper left when mission is completed for Baltic operation, the iron cross would be filled in. Not filled in there either. All places say mission incomplete. So I went back to base and requested the mission breaking the fortress.
I moved to Breaking the Fortress. I sunk two capital ships before October 10, 1939. No bar graph shown in the Breaking the Fortress mission statement. As you sink more ships the bar graph would fill in more. On the nav map on the upper left when mission is completed for Breaking the Fortress, the iron cross would be filled in. Define Uplay patched out? Does it mean enable SHN_Client patch?
Many people have reported that the mission bar doesn't fill when Orbit Listener patches are enabled..
That's only if the ones besides the SHN_Client are enabled
So if I understand this correctly, the mission bar will work if the following is done?
SHN_Client is disabled. Orbit Listener patches are enabled. Problem previously was using Patcher v1.0.86.0, now making changes to try with new v1.0.87. I always use Uplay offline.
Or backwards for mission bar functionality? SHN_Client is enabled. Orbit Listener patches are disabled.

As tensions in pre-war Europe continued to grow, it was expected that Germany would make a move against Lithuania to reacquire the region. German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim_von_Ribbentrop) delivered an ultimatum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1939_German_ultimatum_to_Lithuania) to the Lithuanian Foreign Minister on 20 March 1939, demanding the surrender of Klaipėda. Lithuania, unable to secure international support for its cause, submitted to the ultimatum and, in exchange for the right to use the new harbour facilities as a Free Port, ceded the disputed region to Germany in the late evening of 22 March 1939. Adolf Hitler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler) personally visited the harbour and delivered a speech to the city residents. This was Hitler's last territorial acquisition prior to World War II.

There is not much ready at this time: just ORP Gryf.
Her unit type is set to minelayer (12), but in the recognition manual she is classified as escort (I couldn't find a better category among the ones set in game). I gave her a realistic gun loadout:
- 2 x 4.7in single plus 2 x 4.7in double guns as main battery
- 2 x 40mm double bofors guns plus 2 x 20mm single oerlikon (instead of 2 x 13.2mm double guns) as AA armament.
In the next days I will fix a small problem with main guns' training (probably related to the guns_turret controllers attached to their relative linking bones) and I will see if I can replace the 4.7in and 20mm guns with more appropriate models taken from SHIII (trying to convert them to GR2 objects, fingers crossed :sunny:), but in the meanwhile you can start adding the ship in campaign
Let me know if you spot any other error that must be fixed :)

Yes, well worth the effort.
Expanded Navies is usually installed after OHII. If you want, I could release a new version, which will remove the Wicher from EN to ensure that the more accurate Wicher does appear.

Good idea Cybermat47, but let's wait for the first results first :03:
importing warships poses much more problems than importing merchants, due to rendering problems with their guns. Not to mention the fact that this is an SHIII unit: so far most of the dat units ported to SH5 were derived from SHIV...

yes, during my tests with only three stuka, Luftwaffe didn't stand any chance against her. But planes were downed mostly by the 40mm guns. The double 4.7 guns got stuck in weird positions after the first salvo, and the single 4.7in didn't fire at all.

These messages are for when you are in a wolfpack for a campaign objective.
They are repeated so that you can do this over many months and still get the messages.
the messages are important as they will give orders for where to go and when to attack.
They are triggered by invisible map zone that the campaign will guide you to.

Your poor ship "Gryf" did not last long after this Gap:O:
ORP Gryf was quite heavily armed for a minelayer and had the respectable maximum speed of 20 kn. Her gun armament was comparable with the ones used by most early-war destroyers, if not better. She, ORP Wicher, and few smaller Polish vessels managed to reject 5 German air raids and faced a long-range engagement with two Kriegsmarine destroyers, before being killed during the sixth raid. Not bad at all :yep:

Bad news on the conversion of SHIII guns into GR2 objects. After a closer inspection, it turned that guns_radars_01.GR2 contains animations that are not handled by TDW's editor yet.

It can't manipulate them but it will read everything about them and rewrite it to the file. What seems to be the problem? Is it throwing an error? If so which file are you trying to view?

Yes you will get that error if mixed values count was >0 and it's a special GR2 file (I coded that in to prevent you from potentially totally corrupting the GR2 file). This is what I've been working on and is the reason why I pulled the link for the app. If you do anything to a GR2 file that has that with the app the app will totally corrupt it :dead: Hence the reason why the link no longer exists. There were also some other problems exposed by trying to load/save some civ5 GR2s that I have to work out (exposed errors/bugs I didn't even know existed in the app!).

I could still clone one of the GR2 guns located into the data/Objects folder, but they are used as U-boat equipment, and using them as AI ship's armament doesn't look correct to me since, at a first glance, their file structure looks much more complex, and they use a diffrent animation than "regular" guns ... :hmmm:

Yes - in most of these the class id is used rather than the type id.
The New Zealand one is also ok - in game we have NewZealand.
I have today gone through and fixed all these so that they will not longer show up in the validator after v2.2 is finished:up:

ORP Gryf was quite heavily armed for a minelayer and had the respectable maximum speed of 20 kn. Her gun armament was comparable with the ones used by most early-war destroyers, if not better. She, ORP Wicher, and few smaller Polish vessels managed to reject 5 German air raids and faced a long-range engagement with two Kriegsmarine destroyers, before being killed during the sixth raid. Not bad at all :yep:

Found another webpage covering the last days of Gryf: :salute:

Notable information:
- On 1st september Gryf carried 290 mines: half of her maximum capacity;
- The two German destroyers which attacked Gryf an Wicher while moored at Hel port, were commanded by the Rear Admiaral Günther Lütjens in person;
- The attack started at 7:00 AM;
- The same day, the first and the second air raids were by Ju 97B Stukas (first attack at 09:00 AM);
- The third and fourth raids were by He 59 seaplanes (we don't have them in game :hmmm:), and they startet respectively at 16:00 and 17:25.

Finally decided to give SH5 another try after quite some time. I added a few mods, but my game crashed every time during my first mission.
See my list of mods:

I can't seem to find SteelViking's Interior Mod V1.2.2 Patch.
Also I downloaded IRAI_0_0_39_ByTheDarkWraith_patch1, but when I unpack it, it's calles IRAI_0_0_39_ByTheDarkWraith, so it overwrites the original. Do I have to rename it to IRAI_0_0_39_ByTheDarkWraith_patch1?

Yes, rename. Install above the main mod. Because the content within "data" is different than the main mod. look inside.

What are you exactly doing when game crashes?
During what mission this happens?
I don't recommend installing new mods as Macardigan suggested, before current issue will be solved..
@ Macardigan
IRAI_0_0_39_Inertia_Damage should be installed together with TDW Ship Inertia only..
Many people have had CTDs using TDW Ship Inertia on new campaign start..
The same with AI_sub_crew_1_0_2_TheDarkWraith.
OHIIv2.2 not released yet..

And I have to learn how to aim torpedo's again, all my torpedo's miss at the moment :wah:

excuse me but Inertia_damage not depend of ship inertia 1_1_0.
OHII v2.2(beta) only changes <---works. I know it's not full. Not in the main thread of the mod OHII. :D
In all cases ship_inertia cuts the sound of ships by the hydrophone. Exceptionally cause CTD's because this mod lower value "eng_power" within the .sim files.
This causes the vessel engine braking force does not have an impact instantaneously after torpedo, making actual speed reduction upon impact. This is not a source of conflict with another mod installed.
And here it is to help Gillian, not to see who of the two is right.

1. We do not know if this is what causes CTD.
2. (about OHII) Because it is intended only to Gillian. So I offer that works for me and it is proven. That does not concern to you. Because if someone has to say something is Trevally. (author)
3. Because it is wrong or not, certainly serves to help gillian.

Install the program 7zip decompressor. Good for download mods that have been compressed with this program. winrar + 7z = perfect for download mods. Since some are compressed in 7zip winrar and others. (incompatibility with long file names)

Perhaps some files were corrupted while extracted..
Try to use 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) to extract mods..
When next time going to do validation, remove all the lines except the lines with errors

Gillian, it seems a silly question, but, really have installed the MOD NeuUis 7_3_0??? I say this because the first time I installed it I did something wrong. And practice makes perfect. (Translation what is this?) XDDD.
I say that it seems strange that only have the NewUis_7_3_0_by_thedarkwraith.
Have you checked if within this directory is "data"?? or dials, mods, ..
Really the MOD is within NewUis_7_3_0_by TDWraith \ MODS \ NewUis7_3_0_by Thedarkwraith. <---- this is the main mod, along with other submods. (same author)

Hi Bathrone - I will update this after OHIIv2.2:up:
I have been looking into the errors with v2.1 - they were not intruduced with that version, but have been there from the start. It has taken focus on Danzig for the errors to show:doh:
Anyway - I have finished (mostly) v2.2 but am looking for anyone who would be so kind as to test it for me. I only needs testing the baltic objectives with a career restart. PM me if you want to test:yeah:

@ Trevally
could you have a look into this problem? As far as I know, by 1 Sep there shouldn't be that many German destroyers around. For sure, in the night between 1 and 2 Sept ORP wicher spotted 2 German destroyers (probably Z1 and Z9 which the following day attacked Hel) and one Leipzig-class cruiser:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORP_Wicher_(1928)#Combat
In addition, on 1 Sep Schleswig-Holstein was located in the Danzig area where, early in the morning, she shelled a Polish coastal fortress:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Westerplatte#Battle
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_battleship_Schleswig-Holstein#World_War_II
If you want, as reference, I can do a quick research on other German naval units that operated in the Bay of Danzig during the very first days of the invasion of Poland. Not that you need to replicate history in every detail, but we can get inspirtion from it for creating "likely" scenarios :03:

Yes - Please
So far I have:-
Gryf and Wicher on mine laying mission at the Hel peninsula on the 1st
They are attacked by air from Stukas and have to dump the mines.
Gryf and wicher manage to fight of many air attacks.
On the 2nd or 3rd the two German DDs (Z1 Leberecht Maass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_destroyer_Z1_Leberecht_Maass) and Z9 Wolfgang Zenker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_destroyer_Z9_Wolfgang_Zenker))arrive with Schleswig-Holstein
I have not been able to get the Gryf and Wicher to fall back to Hel harbour.

Okay. I think this event gives us a good cue for forcing history: make the air strike to be triggered by our reporting the Polish taskfoce; the longer we delay our report/attack, the more mines will be deployed :03:

historically, Schleswig-Holstein was already moored in Danzig when the invasion of Poland started. But again, nothing forces us to follow history literally :03:
I have not been able to get the Gryf and Wicher to fall back to Hel harbour.
This is a shame. What is the problem? :hmm2:

Okay. I think this event gives us a good cue for forcing history: make the air strike to be triggered by our reporting the Polish taskfoce; the longer we delay our report/attack, the more mines will be deployed :03:
This will also play a part when the German task force arrives as they will have to pass these mines (some will float/drift, some are chained)
historically, Schleswig-Holstein was already moored in Danzig when the invasion of Poland started. But again, nothing forces us to follow history literally :03:
I did try this, but had many issues with it attacking docked ships and basic caro traffic. Fun to watch but possible ctd when planes add their fire to it.
This is a shame. What is the problem? :hmm2:
Here I have the ships patroling and a player based trigger for the air raids (don't want to miss it). I have no way of knowing how long the player wil take to get there. Anytime between the 1st and 4th is ok.
When the air raids start - sometimes a ship is sunk - sometimes a player will sink a ship.
As I am forced to ensure the ships will be there I must use a looped waypoit system for their patrol. I can't them break this loop.
The only way to do it would be by date/time delete ships or by trigger - then respawn them with new orders to goto Hel and dock to add their AA to the air defence.
The issue is that if the airraids or player sinks one - we will have reports of a zombie ship with zombie crew.
This type of report at the very start of the war may be a bad omen:03:

Here's an idea for the next update: The kanalkampf, luftwaffe attacks on channel convoys, and the opening stage of the battle of Britain.

I will tell you my idea:
1st objective: intercept/report the Polish taskforce.
The taskforce should be set to leave from Gdynia early on September 1st, heading for the entrance of the Bay of Danzig, and hanging around overnight. Try giving the player as few clues on their route and operation area as possible. Eventually, set some coastal traffic for confusing our watch crew and hydrophone operator :03:
case A - we have been greedy for small Polish tonnage, and we fail accomplishing the objective within the given deadline: after laying all of their mines (Gryf: ca. 300, Wicher: 60, each of the 6 Jaskółka class minesweepers: 20) the Polish ships head for Hela victorious and unharmed :-?
case B - we intercept and report our target (objective is accomplished). The stuka's are spawned at some distance, and a new mission is triggered: sink the Polish minelayer. As soon as the Polish ships get aware of being under attack, no matter at what point of they route/mission they are, they stop laying mines, abandon their current route, and head straight for Hela. Please, give them brave crews. Moreover, if you can think of any deterrent avoiding that we will fire all of our eels against the retreating Polish flotilla (or what remains of it), and for giving it time to reach their last waypoint, please use it here :D
2nd objective: recce the Hela harbour and wait then for instructions (triggered by date, starting from Sep 3rd).
Here we shouldn't put any reference to the survivors of the Battle of the Bay of Danzig, exactly because we don't know if there were any survivors. So, if we meet them again, it will be a surprise :03:
case A - either ORP Gryf or ORP Wicher (or both of them) are still alive: after a while a new side mission is triggered, and we are given the chance to complete the unfinished work. In the meanwhile the two German destroyers will rush at full speed for supporting our attack :arrgh!:
case B - the Polish Navy is already disbanded: we are set free to return to base or to continue our patrol at wish.
Today mornig I have been looking into German warships active in the Baltic during the very first days of the invasion of Poland. I will divide them into two arbitrary groups:
1 - Schleswig-Holstein (Deutschland class battleship) + T-196 & T-963 (WWI era torpedo boats)
About Schleswig-Holstein:
Early on 1 September 1939, Germany launched an attack against Poland. Schleswig-Holstein had been positioned in the port of Danzig on what had been called a ceremonial visit in August. The ship was moored close to the Polish fortress at Westerplatte; at 04:47 on 1 September, Schleswig-Holstein opened fire with her main battery at the Polish positions on the Westerplatte, and in doing so fired the first shots of World War II.
See also Battle of Westerplatte (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Westerplatte)
2 - Köln (Königsberg class light cruiser), Leipzig, Nürnberg (Leipzig class light cruisers) + 18 destroyers (yes, I was wrong in stating that only a little number of them was involved )
About Köln:
In the final days of August, Köln was stationed in the western Baltic to prevent Polish vessels from fleeing after the German invasion of Poland on 1 September; she was unsuccessful in this task. She thereafter joined her sister ships in laying a series of defensive minefields.
About Leipzig
At the outbreak of World War II in September 1939, Leipzig was assigned to the blocking force that was intended to prevent the escape of the Polish Navy from the Baltic; they were unsuccessful. Leipzig thereafter went to the North Sea, where she and the other light cruisers laid a series of defensive minefields.
See also http://www.angelfire.com/ia/totalwar/kmsLeipzig.html:
August 24 through September 2, 1939-The Leipzig is assigned to patrol duties in the Baltic Sea.
About Nürnberg:
At the outbreak of the war she [Nürnberg] operated briefly in the Baltic Sea; she was then assigned to the reconnaissance force, also composed by the light cruisers Leipzig and Köln, which had the task of protecting and supporting the German destroyers engaged in mine laying operations off the coast of Great Britain.
See also http://www.angelfire.com/ia/totalwar/kmsNuernberg.html:
August 1939-The Nürnberg is assigned to patrol in the western and central Baltic Sea.
September through October 1939-The Nürnberg takes part in the Poland Campaign, then is assigned to the Befehlshaber der Aufklerungskraefte (reconnaissance force), currently operating in the North Sea. The ship then took part in several mining operations along the British coast and in the North Sea.
About the destroyers:
On the outbreak of war in September 1939, all but three of te available German destroyer fleet were positioned in the Baltic. Here they provided a screening force intended to prevent Polish warships or merchant vessels from escaping. [...] The weak Polish naval forces available meant that the large German naval force was not really necessary, and only provided targets for the small number of Polish submarines lurking in the area. The destroyer force was therefore withdrawn into western waters.
The new task allocated to te destroyers force was in laying the huge defensive minefield intended to protect the German Bight from incursions by British warships. 16 of the fleet were involved in this successful minelaying campaign, which lasted until late September, whilst the remaining destroyers were used to stop and search merchant ships in the Skagerrak looking for contraband, and seizing several ships under prize rules. After the cessation of of their involvement in the Polish campaign, almost all of the available units of the destroyer fleet were moved onto minelaying duties off the English coast.

Yes,
You can even just edit the .mep file;
1. Add the new 2.2 to the C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS folder
2. Save your current mod list
3. Deactivate the mod list
4. Open the .mep file with Note Pad and delete the 2.1
5. Enter the exact name of the new 2.2 in the same place
6. Save the .mep file with a new name (make sure you save it in .mep format)
7. Activate this new .mep file in JSGME
This way you always keep the same load order and keep a copy of the .mep file you used before.

Hit a snag. When I click the download link I get this:
VacantName, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
If you are trying to post or download, be sure you have activated the email that was sent to you when you registered. Your account may be awaiting activation.
You have hit download limit for the day. We have a limit because with hundreds of members downloading every day, it can get pretty expensive for us. Become an officer in the Subsim Navy here and have your download limit increased to 25, 35 or even 60 a day! (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/payments.php)
A website this big uses a lot of bandwidth and needs a really powerful server to stay online day after day, for 15 years. Thanks for the support!
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
You have been a member a long time, and you've never posted or have not posted in a long time. Solution: make a post somewhere in the forum. This post will be placed in the moderation que, and after 24 hours or less the forum will automatically enable downloads for you again. We have to do this to prevent spammers from joining, waiting a few months and then bombarding the forum with ads for Vie-gra, etc.
The administrator may have disabled your account.
Any ideas what the problem is? None of the listed ones seem relevant...
Clearly my account's active (1, 4 and 5) as I've been posting and downloading without any problem so far. Clearly I'm not trying to do anything administrative (3) and as a "First Officer" (2) I should have a daily download limit of 25, right? Well I've only downloaded 22 in over 3 years!
EDIT: Apparently the file is "in the moderation queue", whatever that means....

It looks like the mod has been removed - it is no longer in the download section:hmmm:
Perhaps a glitch that will be fixed by the server soon:arrgh!:

I am sorry for having delayed that much the new units. I have been busy with other stuff lately both in RL and SH world
I will send you the remaining part of the Polish navy as soon as possible. I hope it will be easy for you to merge them in Baltic Operations and release them as a patch.
