Try posting this in the SH3 tech and troubleshoot thread..

I have a similar laptop, but I have 512MB RAM (which is the minimum necessary to run the game). It won't run on mine...I need another stick of 512 (at a minimum).

I was on patrol, and had a destroyer trolling nearby. Through the periscope I saw the bottom of the hull, screws spinning. This is an external shot from underwater:

Albrecht: Incredible. Reminds me of that "There! Can you see them now?"-shot earlier in this thread. It featured a capsized destroyed and the caption "New Methods of ASW Warfare".
As for the liner: The age of zeppelins is not over. That's the Hindenburg 2, which exploded over NYC when it got too close to the torch the Statue of Liberty was holding [ah, yes, I know it's not a real flame].

I like the smoke coming out of the bridge, and none from the funnel.
I know, it's a Q-ship! They've moved things around to disguise it! Any second now the 'funnel' will drop and expose the hidden 4" gun!
About my earlier picture... I checked the ship manual, and there is a ship like that, named Coastal Tanker.
Oh, well, here is the next one. These crew members were so surprised by Catalina, that they lost their heads. Even thought the depth charge didn't anywhere near the boat. (Unfortunately, in next pass, that plane scored a direct hit and killed both flak gunners, but we managed to return to port, hull integrity 72%. I should have dived instead of trying to fight, it is january 1941 after all.)

Best place is the line between BE 12 and BE 13 a 1/3 of the way down from the top. It stars from 1940 and finnishes around the end of 1942 (I think!) Just listen for them, at 21 knots you'll know if there in the area!!!
This is the stock standard version of the game, so I can't vouch for GW or NYGM.

Geez. That Bernard:roll:. What's the fishing/whaling methods of these reindeerbreeders concern us? "Save your Greenpeaze Nonzenze und Keep lookin' out vor threatz", I snap at the moron.
He fails to explain... Just points towards the closing fishing boats in the fjord. To my horror, I realize what he means:o:

No worries, it turns out that the local Luftwaffe captain is a long-time member of PETA, and he quickly dispatches nan attack force of three Stukas and a Ju-88 to bomb the poor little boats to Whaler's Heaven (no, I did not script that in, the AI took the initiative).
Just some more fun with modding EQP files. To my dismay, the fishing boats didn't fire their K-Guns even when I was submerged with my masts up close enough for them to easily spot me. I guess Norwegian fishermen aren't frequently drilled on the use of K-Guns anyhow.

The flag of the of the ship. It's either British or Australian (didn't get a good look).
So the question is, what is Bernard doing on an enemy boat. Maybe the Luftwaffe straped him to one of their planes and droped him near an enemy convoy to try and bring chaos! :yep:

Yes it is an Australian Merchant flag. It became the offical mechant navy flag in 1954, but had been in use from 1901. For more info have a look here.

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/3391/bernhardgo9.th.jpg (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bernhardgo9.jpg)
Luckily and incredibly, when I afterwards loaded up SH3 with SH3 Commander, I get this message: "Bernhard has been transferred to another u-boat". Can you believe my luck?
Neither could I, and it was too good to last. When I started up my next career and told SH3 Commander to make me crew names, I got this:
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4333/bernhard2ga1.th.jpg (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bernhard2ga1.jpg)
Will I never have peace? I feel like the victim of a disaster watching footage from the tragedy be played over and over again over a period of years. I try to forget and put it behind me, and BOOM! Tragedy on TV again! Only it's Bernard instead of the WTC or an earthquake or what-the-Heck-not!
Leave me be already! Haunt me no more:o!

Next to the Kaleun, Johann was my favourite character. Great guy, has a small nervous breakdown, but gets back together and all is fine again. Even helps saving the boat :D
BTW, Johann was a PettyOfficer right? He wasn't a regular cause he never ate with Herr Kaleun, but had a different uniform then normal sailors, so my guess is pettyofficer.
Johann was the Chief Petty Officer in charge of diesel engines; aka Diesel Obermaschinist

They would never be allowed to get back to port. Prpbably another U-Boat would have fished them to make sure they can never tell the secret of the Nuclear Torpedo that would win the war. Plus the crew would die sooner or later, being exposed to radiation at such short range!

I came upon a convoy which was in a state of disarray, they were all over the place, easy pickings ... or so I thought! I couldn't see any destroyers so I went in under flank speed. Unfortunately about 5 seconds after I took this shot 2 destroyers suddenly were spotted about 3k yards from my position, I crash-dived and turned around and eventually managed to evade!!

Yeah, I suppose that last one might've been a bit hard to understand. Here it is in English English:Bernard: Oh yes, my workleader, it is pretty hard for the residents to get to the door, but it has a safety depth of 70 metres and twelve torpedo tubes, and the potted plants are sonar-absorbing...
Hitler: Berna-a-ard! I should've become a politician...
hey guys
ok this might be a really dumb question and i might get joked for it but who is bernard. you guys keep metioning him.
jeremy
Dont worry, JerM, we have all(the ones who were borned after WW2, anyway:D) asked that question at some time. Bernard was founded/born by Dowly in the humorous screenshot thread, and has since been blamed for EVERYTHING that goes wrong,be it an installation or a bad date. Kinda nice to have him around soaking up all the blame.
bookworm_020

There is a Bernard in Every Boat!! So you can blame him for torpedos firing when you don't want them to, destroying Neutral or Friendly shiping, surfacing infront of escort ships, etc, etc....
Just blame it on Bernard!

Looks like they were doing the infamous 'course change' that some of us have observed, where some ships do a 360 and rejoin the rest that haven't lost their senses. Seems to happen in saved games.
