Aircraft bomb that exploded directly underneath my hull. Using the S-Boot mod, when running at 40+ knots its very difficult for an aircraft to hit you, but when this happens...the war is over;). Strafing attacks mows down a lot of people too!

Initially intended for final detail view for texture modding. I'm working on a Type XXI with a black color scheme and cranked up the speed and hp for the electric engines to send it flying out of the water to get a good 360 view of it without the blur of the water to more carefully inspect detail. It's funnier though when I do that around enemy ships and they're shooting at my submarine with AA Guns. I will get a pic of that and replace this one with it.

I came here with good intentions. I do not intentionally piss people off or cause a problem. Again I am very sorry:shifty:. If you think I am a nuisance on here, just say so. I'll leave.

Nope none of the above....your perception/interpretation. If any of the above were true my post would have been a little more succinct.

I was directing my comments at the flying boat....so many of which we have seen over the years.

I prefer to remember the many hours spent at getting it (the XXI) to behave like the real item did under a multitude of differing sea conditions/parameters.

But that's just me http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

So, I'm on my second patrol using GWX/SH3C and im beginning to wonder how the new weather mods will look, as my first patrol had very mild weather.

Well.......

Bernard's now puking all over the sub, and it ain't his cooking this time. 3-4 days of this so far, and just as the war starts too! Hard to find contacts when your lookouts you tied to the bridge have all drowned, and there aren't any more volunteers.

Well the boat got into a harmonic with the waves, and it would go from 15m+ down and pop up to a boat height or two above the waves.

I've been running submerged as long as possible, but i gotta get fresh air eventually. Running at flank speed only gets a few knots at best usually.

So yesterday, at work, I get in an argument with a security guard at an apartment building. He's not letting us (partner and I, we're Paramedics) into the building, even though somebody called us from inside and probably needs help. After About 15 minutes he lets us in. I find out the guys name is Bernard. Almost asked him to let me take a 'screen shot' of his name badge. Turns out it was a nothing call, but still.

Then Today, we're taking this guy to the loony bin. He keeps ranting about how the CIA is following him. He was paranoid about it so bad he made us drive around the block 3 times to make sure nobody was tailing us. We obliged, more to humor ourselves than anything. When he started yelling that the finger prick we did to check his blood sugar was actually injecting a tracking and growth (??) device into his fingernail. I lost it then and to leave the truck I was laughing so hard.

His name, too, was Bernard.

Don't see a lot of that name IRL. But they both lived up to the legend.

I can't find any solid references ATM, but the "Red Right Returning" is US and its territories only - the rest of the world is reversed (of course!). And the Red part is fairly new - it used to be black and green bouys, but they were too hard to distinguish, so the black was changed to red in the '70's - I think. It took a while for the changeover to be completed. They also went to 'can" and "nun" types as well.

However this is all moot - in the war era this was not only the wrong scheme, invariably one of the first wartime acts of any belligerant was to remove all such aids to navigation so as to deny their use to the enemy.

...another thing we Americans can't get right apparently, that and the metric system. (I hate the standard system!)

But yeah, I guess it would be a smart move to remove all the navigation buoys.

On the one hand I was referring to the navigations lights on the ship itself, so that's my mistake. On the other hand in Gargamel's picture the ship is to the right of the red bouy, and he's aground, which means he's obviously wrong, so :O:.

There is an easy way to remember. When you sail inland, or against the current;
"A seamen leaves sea with a bleeding hart"
Since the hart is at your left... when red is left, your going inland. When green is left, your heading to sea :)

PS, i just came back to the SH3 part since a long time. This because i just decided i will abondon SH5 and get back to SH3 with GWX-G.

The picture is American navigation procedure. The buoys are placed so that ships leaving the harbor have correctly aligned lights.

So in other words, yes, it's wrong.

I've been reading Hitler's U-Boat war, by Clay Blair.

Today I read about U-570;

It was rushed through Agru Font in Norway where the boat bottomed and incurred some damage....
“After a rousing farewell party in Trondheim, where much beer and wine had been consumed, U-570 sailed at 0800 hours on August 24. She was not shipshape: The diesels were not properly tuned, the air compressor was on the blink, some batteries were not properly strapped down, the four spare torpedoes in the bow compartment were not securely stowed, one bow torpedo tube leaked. The hydrophones, knocked out when the boat bottomed, had not been repaired because no one in Norway knew how.
When the boat reached open sea, a large proportion of the crew became desperately seasick. The retching and revolting odours inside the confined pressure hull touched off an epidemic of seasickness..... Some of the improperly stowed torpedoes worked loose and rammed against the torpedo-tube inner doors”
The chaotic patrol was ended 3 days later when they surrendered unnecessarily to a Coastal Command Hudson, who was only armed with machine guns!

The reason this story appealed to me?
The First Watch Officer's name was ..... Bernhard Berndt, crew of 1935.

Rahmlow, who had climbed out onto the bridge, heard the approaching Hudson's engines and ordered a crash-dive. But the aircraft reached the submarine before she fully submerged and dropped four 250-pound (110 kg) depth charges—one detonated just 10 yards (10 m) from the boat.[7]
The U-boat quickly resurfaced and around ten of the crew emerged. The Hudson opened fire on them with machine guns, but ceased when the U-boat crew displayed a white sheet. An account of what happened was subsequently given to British naval intelligence interrogators by the captured crew members—the depth charge explosions had almost rolled the boat over, knocked out all electrical power, smashed instruments, caused water leaks and contaminated the air on the boat. The inexperienced crew believed the contamination to be chlorine, caused by acid from leaking battery cells mixing with sea-water, and the engine-compartment crew panicked and fled forward to escape the gas. Restoring electrical power—for the underwater electric motors and for lighting—would have been straightforward, yet there was nobody remaining in the engine compartment to do this.[8] The submarine was dead in the water and in darkness. Rahmlow believed the chlorine would make it fatal to stay submerged so he resurfaced. The sea was too rough for the crew to man their anti-aircraft gun so they displayed a white flag to forestall another, probably fatal, depth charge attack from the Hudson—they were unaware the aircraft had dropped all its depth-charges.
Most of the crew remained on the deck of the submarine as the Hudson circled above them. A radio request for help saw it being joined by another Hudson and a PBY Catalina flying boat of 209 Squadron, with a full load of depth-charges.[8] The German crew radioed their situation to the German naval high-command, destroyed their radio, smashed their Enigma machine and dumped its parts overboard along with the boat's secret papers

Count the glitches.
1. The paint scheme is totally wrong for that boat.

2. The freighter is sitting to deep in the water.

3. Some of your guages are black.

4. The propellors are turning the wrong way.

5. The sun is way too big.

After being threatened to be used as TI torpedo he is a different man.

Yes , he is the same one who got confused the deck gun with the flak gun.

The German Cross was awarded to him because he sunk a passenger/cargo with a single shot (I couldn't believe it but it is true)
Now he is the Bootsmann responsible for the deck gun and he is doing fine.
Of course the threat is still active!

I love the Batman emblem! I wonder if it's possible to create a Batman skin for the Watch Officer?

I rode in the Batmobile when I was a kid in the 60's. My father ran a transmission shop and one of the Batmobiles that was scheduled to appear at a local auto show had transmission trouble, so he repaired it. We were test driving it down Gratiot in Mt. Clemens, Michigan when we were pulled over by the Mt. Clemens police department: The original Batmobile didn't have turn signals.

The officers were both laughing. One asked the other "Are you going to write this up?" "Hell no" was the reply, so we didn't get a ticket.

<Edit: Photo added> I'm the guy in the awesome rubber boots.
