My recommendation is to download the Zip File to the Ubisoft Folder behind your Main Game Folder.
Typical path C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5

Press the Extract Tab and you will be able to access everything easily from the Ubisoft Folder.

Note 4.
This Mega Mod must be installed on a Fresh/New SH5 installation.

An Introduction To Sobers Subsim Bonus All In One mega Mod 1421020072017.

For those of you who like to play with Auto TDC I have added some additional information in the Blue section towards the bottom of this post.

Sobers Mega Mod has to be played as separate Campaigns.
This is to simulate new crew and you get a lot of points for Sinking Ships to enable you to build up their skills.

My Mega Mod now includes vdr1981 No Tonnage Bar Free Roam Mod.

All missions are Date Based, NOT Tonnage Based.

You cannot have a Continuous Career with my Mega Mod as it has been designed to be played in different Campaigns by using “silentotto”

If you want to run a Career Campaign type of game then you need to use the excellent ‘The Wolves Of Steel’ Mega Mod by vdr1981.

You will notice quite a few intentional differences than you are used to if you have played Silent Hunter 5 before.

I wanted a game as to how I wanted to play it, (modders prerogative) and I would like to share it with you.

Please note that my Mega Mod is designed to be played in a New Campaign at “Realistic” which sets the Game Play Settings at 100% and using the Real Navigation Mod.

Helpful Tips and Stuff you have to know or else!
I wanted a Cleaner Hud rather than the conventional click or press and it is all done for you.
Most things are done by giving orders to the Crew directly by clicking on their Avatar or by using the Officer Icons at the bottom of the screen.

The game now starts with the VIIB U-Boat, this is essential for my mega mod to work correctly.

Battery Gauges do not work in the VIIA U-Boat.

All Gauges needed are found Inside the U-Boat.

My object was Less Hud, use the Gauges, that is what they are there for.
You still get occasional Fuel Updates etc., in the Message Box and.Blackboard.

Clicking the Shortcut C key will bring up the Compass.
Click on the Compass to Change Direction.
Click on the Tab below the Compass to show the Rudder.
Moving the Compass, to a New Position you need to find the sweet spot X and then you can drag it.

U-Boat Speed.
The quickest way to find your Speed is to use the Teleport Bar Shortcut Key ‘T’ and Teleport to the Hydrophone/Sonar Station where you will find the Speed Dial on the wall above the Hydrophone.

Press Shift+B to bring up the Blackboard.
The Blackboard contains critical information you need like Moon Phase, Sunrise and Sunset etc.

Decks Awash.
When at Decks Awash you must Submerge or Dive next.
Do not order Surface if at Decks Awash.
Do not order Reverse while at Decks Awash or your U-Boat will flood.

Game Objective.
The main idea of my Mega Mod is to Upgrade The Crew as much as possible and stay alive until the Current Campaign ends.
You get Skill Upgrade Points for Sinking Ships.
The Scapa Mission is good for getting these points.

Why are the Campaigns not Linked?
I did not want linked campaigns because i think it is more realistic to start with a Fresh Crew every time and try to get Skill Points to Upgrade them.
That is the premise of my Mega Mod.

No Campaign Fixes needed and No Uplay needed. This is Disabled in TDW’s Generic Patcher with the Uplay Patch Disabled).
Please note that you cannot make changes to the Generic Patcher with my Mega Mod.

Diving Method 1
Its best to work out which is the best diving method that suites your game play.
Do i click on the Watch Officer and order Flank Speed?
While going down the Hatch Ladder I also click on the Dive Button?
Now I go to the Navigator and order a Depth Report. Press the Ctrl key and click on a Submerge Level?

Diving Method 2
Alternatively i can climb down the Hatch Ladder and go straight to the Chief Engineer and order Flank Speed?
Or do i order a Depth Reading first?

Crew.
Crew Abilities and Special Abilities are Disabled when the Crew are Injured or when the Crew has No Morale.

Promotional Points for the Crew - Secondary Patrol Missions, Spy Infiltration etc... or

Crew Orders. (See Post #6)
You will find on each Crew Member Additional Orders.
Some orders normally found on the Officers Bar at the bottom of the screen have been removed.
This makes for a more personal experience as Captain by having to Interact with your Crew to give the necessary orders.

Equipment
Equipment is available normally by Historical Date except for those bought with Renown Points.

Renown Points can be used or saved anytime you are in the Bunker before starting a New Mission.
If you do not have any Renown Points for early access then they will be available by Historical Date.

Earning Points for New Equipment.
By the Number of Ships Sunk or Amount of Tonnage from anywhere in the world.
Being offered a New U-Boat Upgrade.

Rating Points gained by Sinking Capital Ships and Tankers anywhere in the world.

Awarded Medals by Overall Tonnage and Sinkings Capital Ships.

Get To Know Your Boat.
The best time to practise and get used to my Mega Mod is to use the Baltic Operation.
From Memel to your Baltic Operation Area you will have plenty of time to run through all the different procedures.

Visibility Level plays a big part in my Mega Mod.
The Gamma Setting must be kept at the default halfway level.
If it is too dark then you should decide if you should wait for better light conditions.

Press Shift+B Key to bring up the Moon Phases. Helpful when attacking in Scapa.

Playing sobers mega mod without the “Real Navigation” mod
While this mega mod has been designed to play with real navigation there is no reason why it cannot be adapted to be played with “Auto TDC”, and/or “Manual targeting”.

This tutorial will show you the basics and set you on the right path.
Disable the “Real Navigation” mod in JSGME.

TDW's Options File Editor Viewer (OFEV)

Go to your main game folder then data/Applications

Select the OptionsFilesEditorViewer (OFEV)

Double click on the Mickey Mouse icon.

Select your language by double clicking on it.

Double click again on the Mickey Mouse icon.

Open the File Tab.

Click on “Set path to menu. txt”

Look at the path showing and change it to show data/menu.

Double click on the last item “menu.txt

Open the File Tab again.

Click on “Set SH5 install path”

Find your main game folder click on it but do not open it.

May look something like this:

Open the File Tab again.

Click on the first “Open”

Double click on the py file showing.

The OFEV will open and show a row of Tabs.

The “Snorkel” can only be enabled when in the “Bunker”
This snorkel is mounted on the left side of the bridge and not on the Deck.

The OFEV can be changed at any time you are at sea as long as the game is not being played.

Opening each Tab will show you one or more patches which will allow you to personalize your game.

Do not make changes for the sake of making them and if you do not understand what a patch does then it is best to leave it alone or ask.

I will draw your attention to just a few patches which you may wish or need to change.

HUD
If you want to see the lower left “Essential Controls and “Top right hand side bars” then you need to disable both of these.

Ships Journal
Here you enter your Captain’s name and also your U-Boat number.

TAI and NAV Maps

These Map tabs will have “Minefields” enabled which you may wish to disable.

XO TDC
If you want to play with "AUTO TDC" then you will need to disable the last patch “Manual targeting enforced”

Saving your changes
When you have finished making changes go to “File” and select “Save” and your game will be updated for your next game play.

AUTO TDC > Optional Time Compression Changes Path C:\Documents\SH5\CFG\CFG Main

You may wish to speed up your TC as you will always know where you are in relation to what is around you.
You will see that sober uses TC256, you can change these to read 512 without making your game unstable.
Whether the game will accept TC1024 I will leave to you.

Starting a New Career with AUTO TDC
Enter your Captain’s new name.
Next type “silentotto” into the empty space this will open all the campaigns.
Select the “Campaign” you wish to do.
Do not change the “Medium” realism setting.
Start the game.
When the game loads to the Bunker use the “ESC Key” and go to the “Main Menu”.
Select “Options” and “Game Play Settings”.
You can customize your settings but make sure the “Manual Targeting box is left unticked.
Apply the changes and go back to the “Main Men”.
Select “Save Game” and at the curser enter a save game reference and save the changes.
Go back to the “Main Men” and select “Continue Campaign”
You can now upgrade your boat, select the mission, and start the patrol.

1 new mod has been added to both Mep Files.
sobers mega mod IRAI – Happy Times.

Players who have the Default English Language who want all their game in English should select the English Mep File.

Players who have the Default English Language who would like to have part of their game in German should select the German Mep File and Disable the German U-Boat Crew Language Pack Mod.

Players who have the Default English language who could not install German Voices as it was not available where they bought their Download from should select the German Mep File.
Note that orders given will be acknowledged in German but replies from the Radio Operator will be in English.

Players who Installed the German Voices option from the DVD Custom Installation should select the German Mep File and Disable the German U-Boat Crew Language Pack Mod and Speech fixes and additions (german version) mod.

Sobers Mega Mod Game Playing Tips

Operational Tips.
You have to be at All Stop before Enabling or Disabling the Propeller Shafts.

When a Saved Game loads the U-Boat will be operating on 2 Props.
If you want to Reduce Cruising Speed then Stop All Engines, Disable 1 Prop, then order your New Speed.

Most Efficient Fuel use is Ahead Standard on 1 Prop.

Check the Engine RPM Gauges in the U-Boat if unsure both Engines are at All Stop.

Other Operational Tips.
Press the C key to bring up the Compass.
Click on the Compass to Change Direction.
Click on the Compass Tab to see the Rudder.

Crew Abilities and Special Abilities are Disabled when the Crew are injured.

Press Shift + B to bring up the Blackboard.
This contains Critical Information you need like Moon Phase, Sunrise, and Sunset etc.

Equipment And Renown Points.
Do not access the Equipment Officer at Memel (Baltic Operation).
The Equipment will not be used at Kiel and you will have lost your Promotion Points for accessing early development equipment.
Instead wait until at the Bunker in Kiel and then Request Equipment.

Equipment is available normally by Historical Date except for when used with Renown Points.
Your saved Renown Points can be used at any time before starting a New Mission.
If you do not have any Renown Points for early access then they will be available by Historical Date.

Enemy Aircraft Patrol Areas.
Airbases are approximately 300 km Radius.
Know where Heavy Air Cover is by using the Compass Tool to Draw a Circle 300 km Radius Around the Airbase icon.
Avoid Travelling on the Surface during the Day in Heavy Air Traffic Areas.

How To Use Decks Awash.
If you are at Decks Awash and want to Surface again, you have to go below decks and order Periscope Depth first.
Wait until at Periscope Depth and then order Surface.
While at Decks Awash there is No Crew Spotting.
You can use the UZO yourself.


Do not order Reversing Speeds while at Decks Awash,
or the U-Boat will Flood.

U-Boat Damage.
If your U-Boat is damaged and you are resting on the bottom then you have to stay at 1TC or more damage will occur (known mods issue).

CO2 Warning
As soon as you get the CO2 Warning icon you must Surface to replenish the Oxygen.
You can use Promotion Points to Upgrade Crew Efficiency regarding CO2.

Gameplay

Morale Points and Skill Points Each Ship Sunk.

Event:RewardMorale (2.0);
Event:RewardSkillPoint (6);

ShipSunk_Battleship

General Gaming Tips

Attack
Stealth is the primary tactical advantage of a U-Boat.
The best Attack Solution against a Ship is from a 90 Degrees Angle, at a Range of about 800 meters.

Torpedoes arm themselves after a run of a few hundred meters away from the U-boat, for safety reasons.

Form a Wolfpack whenever possible when Hunting Multi Escorted Convoys.

Try to attack from the Dark Side - into the Sunrise, Sunset, or Moon, - Silhouetting the Target against the dim light.

The G7a Torpedo is fast and reliable, but it also can be spotted by enemies due to the bubbles it leaves on its run.

Use the Deck Gun against Unarmed Merchant Ships in order to preserve the limited torpedo supply.

Try to avoid Aircraft at all costs.

Defensive Tactics
The Crash Dive option should be used rather than engaging Aircraft on the Surface.

If using Real Navigation the Navigator cannot calculate by Celestial Fix in Stormy Weather or When Submerged.
He can only give you a Dead Reckoning in these situations.

Take every precaution against Armed Merchants (AMC types).

Avoid keeping the Periscope above the waterline too long.
It's better to raise it for short periods from time to time in order to reduce the chances of being visually detected.

Use the Observation Periscope from the Command Room to sweep search before breaking the waterline to surface.
Its higher magnification power makes identification easier.

Use the Attack Periscope from the Conning Tower to Target Enemy Ships in submerged operations.
The Attack Periscope is less likely to be visually detected by the Enemy Watch Crew than the Observation Periscope.

Decks Awash offers the advantages of Both Diesel Propulsion and a Very Low Silhouette.

The Watch Crew cannot spot while at Decks Awash.

Binoculars cannot be used when at Decks Awash.

Sonar
The best way to listen to sea traffic is to submerge (below 30 meters) and Stop All Engines.
The Sonar Range is no longer affected by your U-boat engine noise.

Destroyer Tactics.
Normally a Destroyer should not be engaged, but if the situation calls for it, use a Salvo of High Speed Torpedoes and shoot from close range.

Do a Hard Turn at Flank Speed just as the Destroyer is at Point Blank Range above your U-Boat.
There is a high chance of avoiding Depth Charges this way.

Do a 360 Degrees Search with your Periscope before breaking the surface as this can mean the difference between life and death.
You can never know when a Warship silently waits for you to surface.

Silent Running.
Using Silent Running while submerged will reduce the CO2 Build-up in the U-Boat so you can stay submerged for longer.

Recharging Batteries.
Recharging the Electric Engines Batteries is done by traveling on the surface.
This is not done automatically so an order needs to be given.

The Diesel Engines are used to turn the Electric Motors so that they act as generators to Recharge the Depleted Batteries.

U-Boat Tactics.
With these mods you will have to Think like a Real U-Boat Captain.
Do i really want to attack this Multi Escorted Convoy on my own or shadow it and form a Wolfpack?
Tactics: Now that the skipper has worked himself into a visual sighting, a carefully developed plan which includes the actual approach as well as Evasion Tactics, are in order.

Escort Tactics.
One of the Escort Tactics that you are going to need to understand if you are to survive your Atlantic War is the "Triangulation Attack".

Use Wolfpacks whenever possible.

Use Silent Running when submerged to keep your noise signature to a minimum as there is less chance of being Detected by the Enemy.

AI Support.
AI Support: Engaging Enemy Ships in well defended areas is very dangerous. As soon as the attacked ship detects the presence of your U-Boat, Air Patrols and Surface Warships will start to converge on the area.

Defensive Strategy
A U-boat’s best defence is concealment.
Once this cover is blown, the next best recourse is to Dive immediately.

Being Spotted On The Surface.
If a U-boat is spotted on the Surface, the first thing the Escort will do is to shell it immediately and force it to Submerge.

Sonar Evasive Measures.
Depth reduces the effectiveness of Sonar.
The deeper the U-Boat, the more difficult it is to locate.
A good Evasive Measure is to Dive as deep as possible and as quickly as possible.

While the Radar is a very powerful tool, do not forget that using it will give away your presence.

Detection.
The game has a lot of things that influence Detection such as, Light/Night/Fog/The Enemy’s Speed/Your Speed/Thermal Layers/Your Surface Area shown to the Enemy/Waves/Enemy Equipment Type/Enemy Crew Rating and Fatigue + much more.

Rules of Thumb 1: If I can see them, then they can see me.

Rules of Thumb 2: Until proven otherwise, All Merchant Convoys have Elite Escorts.

Rules of thumb 3: All Escorts are to be classified in the "Elite" Status regarding Anti-Submarine warfare.

The longer you linger in an area admiring your handiwork with Torpedoes, the better the chances that your position will be detected by Pinging DDs.

From the moment your first Torpedo leaves the tube, you have potentially revealed your location.

If you have Heavy Fog the best option is to sit and wait it out as Real Navigation is too risky.

How to Start A New Campaign Instructions.
1 At the Main Menu.

2 Select New Campaign.

3 Give your Captain a New Name or accept the default one.

4 On the right part of the screen under the text in an empty area type “silentotto” See Picture.

5 Click on a Campaign you would like to play.

6 Select the Level of Difficulty Low > Medium > High > Realistic or accept the default “Medium.”

7 Real Navigation 100% Players should select the “Realistic” Setting.

8 Click Start Game and the game will load to the Bunker.

9 In the Bunker press the Keyboard Esc Key and then “Exit to Main Menu” by following the prompts.

10 Click Continue Campaign.

Real Navigation 100% Players with Realistic now go to No16.

Players who do not wish to make any Game Play Setting Changes now go to No 16

Players wanting to make Game Play Setting Changes must follow 11 >12 >13 >14 instructions and then continue from 15.

11 Back in the Bunker for the second time press the Keyboard Esc Key.

12 Select Options and make your Game Play Setting changes and Apply Changes.

13 Select Save Game and type in a Save Game Reference and press Save.

14 Exit to Main Menu.

15 Press Continue Campaign.

16 Equipment Upgrades (Not Baltic Operation Memel)
Go to the Flotilla Technical Officer Herbert Vockel.

17 Go to the Operations Officer Hans Georg Weber and select “What are my Mission Orders.”

18 Press Skip (optional) Stops Speech.
Request a Mission and an Icon will appear against the selected mission.
Press the X to Exit.

19 Go to the Operations Officer again and select “Let’s start the new patrol.”

20 The game will now load to the Bridge.

Note.
This mega mod has been designed to be played with the "Real Navigation" mod enabled with the "Realistic" setting which is 100% game play.

Note.
Mare Nostrum Campaign.
The game will load in Kiel and not La Spezia.
You need to select the mission "Breakthrough Gibraltar"

I altered the madmax subdiesel to mono sound file so it works with other mods . Thats the only altered mods .

dont forget to check the sh.sdl file then (stereo or mono) or the sample, if you use the sound as a stereo sample, the entry in SH.sdl must be corresponding regarding 3d enabled or not.

mono = 3d on
stereo = 3d off

Secondly, I seem to be getting a conflict with the load order you posted.

When I load OH II v1.7 I get this conflict:


"German.dds" has already been altered by the "Accurate German Flags" mod.
"German_m.dds" has already been altered by the "Accurate German Flags" mod.
Folder "Documents" has already been added by the "sobers see thru wake fix" mod.

Obviously I have to delete the documents folder, but I don't know about the other two conflicts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you unzip the mod Multiple UIs for SH5 with TDC and Automation look in this folder for the application
Gbgview .
It is found in
NewUIs_TDC_*_*_*_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applications
Move it to your desktop and enable it before clicking on the SH5 icon to start SH5

Couple of points:

The one mod I just can't find is "sobers base wave mechanics V17". It sounds like maybe this was replaced by "sobers best ever waves"?

Also, your download links to Trevally's tutorials for TDW, but your mod list uses the OH2 version instead.

Edit: Only one major issue so far. One of these mods (or perhaps the sheer mass of them) is causing insane lag while in port ... basically 2 FPS the whole time. Sometimes fixed briefly by alt-tabbing. Looking at the map is always unlagged (either during briefing or while underway), and is also the only way to get out of Kiel Harbour in a reasonable amount of time (hence I disabled Real Nav).

Edit 2: Pretty sure it was the shadows mod that was doing it. Game runs absolutely smoothly without it now.

BTW, I notice you use Manos Scopes patch for 16x9, but not the Manos Scopes Core Files? Is that correct usage?

I decided to try your mod order out Sober, iv'e got to say it's an excellent list and am liking the look of it all. This is a very good setup for anyone unsure of where to go with sh5 and lays some great foundations for a good looking and enjoyable version. I am liking sh5 more these days and with your help i'm sure others can too. So thankyou for the time and effort you have put into this. I just need to get sh5 to recognise more of my memory now, iv'e got 6gb of memory but it only uses 2gig, have tried the 4gig patch as i have a 64 bit machine but nothing, even tried the 3gig patch just in case, oh well never mind, well at least every thing else seems fine. Anyway cheers Sober for all your work here and all the other modders too, think we are getting there now with sh5.

Yeh sure thing, would love to resolve this problem, and play SH5 at the full potential of my pc, will let you know if i find a fix.

Bart...... Just make a new folder, name it whatever, mine is uniform put data inside it and put all in your mods folder, then install via jsgme, sorted.....

I have taken Speech fixes and additions out of the mod list . I dunno , too many overwrites and i want TDW to be the core of this mod list . I want to keep it simple with no ctds .

It took some years, almost, to get it work on my heritage rig, yet finally, TONIGHT I'm proud to announce that thanks to You < sobers > I flew, I mean sailed from Kiel which looked at least like a war time port on rusted, wet the right way steel hull, no pack man, no medicine man 2012 radar tech sonar guy, no XI century rain european forest, no CTD etc.....and how the ph.. do I find Aruba after Paukenschlag with this real nav sorcery will remain to be seen.

Ok, so a while back, I was reading this, still not knowing what the hell you guys were talking about, because I missed stoppro's quote, but I had a good chuckle anyway: the radar thing at the bottom right of the loading page

So, here I am sitting there waiting for the game to load up, happily smoking my pipe, staring at this green disc on the bottom right of the screen, and I say to myself "self, wasn't that black and white before? It's green now. And it spins!" And I pretty near p***** myself laughing. Oh man, such a small thing to make my day :D.

I figure it must have slipped in as a part of your best ever fog mod or one of the other ones I have loaded.

Here is a compromise . If you are in shallow water and its calm and you stop or slow speed you can see the sea bed from your sub .

After giving SH5 a rest for 6 months, but regularly checking subsim for new mods etc.after seeing your megamod soup i thought i`d give it a shot again, so i did a clean install, chose German voices, installed all the req mods from your list dated 28/2/2012, in the same order, used TDW`s patcher to sort out the hydro. but after leaving port and using the ext camera to have a look under water, the screen goes a sort of pea green, visability is zero, and the streak/bubble textures look very pixalated. wondered if you or fellow submariner`s know what could be causing the problem, can i just say above the waterline is fine, the problem only occurs underwater..

added mccd mod again so rubinis mod would work . you can install the latest mod order while on patrol (preferably not whilw actually playing the game) . not using capitol letters at the start of sentences anymore or spell check.......over it .

I changed the mod order , see if that fixes it. Just copy and paste the new mod order to your MEP file and click on load mod profile
using JSGME . All the tutorials seem to work now . No more camera out of sector .

First of all thank you very much for sharing your work Sober.

I tried your configuration, the order of loading and the mods, but I have the problem of not hearing any sound from the engines, while in the machine room.

My solution was to remove mods Stormy, and with that, the sounds of the engines again.

Any suggestions are welcome.

You can keep it in . I am trying to figure out why the crew isnt shouting out the smoke on the horizon etc . Overwrites too much of TDW stuff . I dont like the availability of all the equipment from the start .

I'm with you on that, Sober. I'm looking at pedrobas MMM right now, though, because it seems to have options for having equipment only available when it actually was.

To be fair to the beast he did a lot of work on his mod and he did say that if anyone did the historical research of availability dates he would put it in .

I'm not trying to be unfair here. He did a whole lot more work than I would have ever been able to do, I just need my super weapons to not become available until they were. For his work, and I know that it wasn't accomplished in three minutes, I salute him as one of the awesome contributors to our community :salute:

I had ctds with the last mod order so i changed them back . Just copy the latest mod order and paste to your MEP file . You should be able to change it mid patrol .

The issue with following contacts seems to be caused by

TDW_No_Hydrophone_On_Surface_1_1_0

replacing it with

IRAI_0_0_30_No_hydrophone_on_surface

(like in previous mod lists) eliminates the problem with following contacts

You can keep it in . I am trying to figure out why the crew isnt shouting out the smoke on the horizon etc . Overwrites too much of TDW stuff . I dont like the availability of all the equipment from the start .

I can not give you any input on mod interference yet. Finally installing mods for SH5 after buying the game 9 months ago. Only played tutorial recently. Have played SH3 and SH4 since their beginnings.

If I understand your post correctly, you want to find out how to "zoom" out and in on your NAV map and/or your TAI map.

Since, according to your MOD list, you have TDW's MOD, NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith, installed then all you have to do is place your pointer over the chosen map and use your mousewheel to scroll back to zoom out or forward to zoom in.

Works fine for me and I use a LOGITECH trackball mouse.

Hi Sober,

it may be (not shure) that the missing shouts on enemy sightings are related to the fact that the crew sometimes seam to instandly enter hunter/hunted mode after sighting an enemy vessel.

the crew is whispering then instead of shouting. If using SDBSM, the crew then also use some kind of Das Boot commentary`s about which are not to much alarming but fitting for a slow sneak in at night times.

this is also happening if using SDBSM`s optional always shouting WO mod. (it changes the non "hunter/hunted" voices only)

...the beahavior is differet, sometimes i get a first shouting "vessel" or "smoke on horizon" or "battlegroup sighted" or "destroyer ahead" (depends on vessel and group) callout, but sometimes i only get this much more silent Das Boot commentary`s if the crew ia allready in hunter/hunted mode. there is only one exception if the crew is in panic mode, then the crew is shouting of course.

to make it work as it should, it seams we need some kind of delay or sync with the battlestatios command before the crew enter hunter/hunted mode and start whispering, it seams this need changes of the programm code.

Thanks quink99. Playing SH5 for the first time. Map still does not zoom out all the time as needed after loading a save. Plotting a course is a long chore for now to get to objective. Probably will try if I have a mod installed wrong. Will probably try to play game without mods to see what happens.

Did you follow the instructions on how to start a campaign if using OH2 mod ? You can find the instructions on the first few posts on the OH2 thread .

Delete the SH5 save game folder and then start a new campaign . Reset all your options then exit and then follow the OH2 how to start a campaign instructions .

When you unzip the mod Multiple UIs for SH5 with TDC and Automation look in this folder for the application
Gbgview .
It is found in
NewUIs_TDC_*_*_*_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applications
Move it to your desktop and enable it before clicking on the SH5 icon to start SH5

Managed to load most of your MOD soup via the 'load mod profile....' function within JSGME.

Couple of things I noticed:

(1) Is Stormys DBSM SH5 v1.3 Basemod not in your list? I see no reference to its non-inclusion or perhaps I have missed that.
(2) The 'smaller flags for warships' version I used is 1_0b and my MOD profile reflects that.

Busted my d/l limit on Subsim, trying to start from a fresh install. :wah:

I've taken a long hiatus from SH5, 'til the mods settled down. Sober's list seems like a good place to start. Having expected to start tonight, however, I think I'll be going through some withdrawal until my d/l limt resets. Darn this "Gotta have it now!" society that I've grown to hate, 'cause I resemble it way too much.

Ok. I loaded all the mods again. Haven't encountered any destroyers yet, because I've only completed the first mission in Baltic so I can not yet tell how does the AI behave. Anyway-so far so good, but one minor issue. What's this please and is there any way how to get rid of that? Otherwise it feels like a decent mod soup. Thank you Sober.

The only other thing is the resetting smoke from the ship stacks but i put up with it because TDW smoke is the only one that moves the correct way . You can tell which way the ship is heading and how fast by the way the smoke is blowing .

appear on the screen the game display is resetting rather than the smoke . I have never found where this water drops/streaks animation comes from .

Oh, and one more thing actually. When I opened torpedo tubes they were not animated. They simply remained closed however firing procedure went correctly...

I really dont know , but i noticed that any problems like the skipping smoke and the explosions slowing my computer all have to do with the TDW_ files . Maybe the game just doesnt like Dat files . I think the problem is with the game and not the files .

Just remember this is my mod list based on TDW mods . You can chop and change the smaller mods within it without to much trouble . There are hundreds of other mods around you can try to integrate . Always start a new career when altering the mod list .

I deleted that , you dont need to touch it as i now use my own mod LOL SAS special abilities . Speech fixes and additions (German version) , i cannot remember why i dont use it . Put it last in your mod list and see what it overwrites . I am pretty sure you can enable it mid patrol etc . I remember why i dont use the german version now , i dont understand german .

Should the smoke not be blowing in the direction of wind?? If a ship travels at 8 kts with a 16 kts wind in its back, then the smoke would be blowing out in front of the ship - would it not ?

Mind i have been away from subsim for a while, so i have not followed any debate about this.

Hi guys, I need your help. I just gave up on mmm mod soup, tired of the CTD's. So I gave Sober mod soup a try (I tried to use his setup as close as I could). Firstly it sounds like you are using the old options file from MMM for TDW UI mod .

Sounds like left over files from the previous mod setup . Set up a mod profile using jsgme . Uninstall the mods . Uninstall the game including all saves . Delete any left over files in the main game folder except the mod folder and jsgme . Reinstall the game . Patch to 1.2 . Re enable the mods . Start a new campaign .

Did you enter the bunker on a new campaign then exit and load the bunker save again . This is what you have to do when starting a new campaign with OH2 installed . You must be able to enter the upgrade screen and choose upgrades or funny things happen including ctds .

Is it possible to merge SAS special abilities and No magic skills? because one and the other has some interesting solutions to improve the game.I dont know haow to do it . You can see where i was going with it . What i wanted was all morale based . I also wanted to add lots of abilities . But alas i dont know how . Someone else will have to do it .

hey i use sobers mod list and i can some times play for 10min or 30 min before it ctd and sometimes i can only load my save and then it ctd can any one help

If you dont have a 64 bit os with 8 gig of ram and a quad core cpu running over 3 gig and a fast gpu then i cannot help you . The more mods you have the more memory you need . The longer you play the more memory you need . If you have a good computer and get the ctds then you are not starting the career the way you are suppose to with OH2 . Check the first couple of posts in the OH2 thread on how to start the campaign using OH2 .

Well Sober, your screenshots have convinced me to reinstall SH5 for the first time since oh 2 weeks after the game launched, so its been a few years. I guess you could say I was not happy with what I felt was a half finished game.

Whats new around here? I see W_Clear is still working on his environments, Kriller2 is lurking, RDP is well RDP.

Compare the file differences and merge items you like together.
I have used this program on .xml, .cfg and .ini file extensions the most. Winmerge works great.

The crew are not skilled when you start the game . Enable the special abilities and get the crew trained . The more the crew does the more skill points they earn and there efficiency goes up .

Using my mod sobers green crew training shows you where the crew are at with there training . Just place the curser over the crew member to show you what % they are trained at . Benno the hydrophone operator will get better as he is trained . Help Benno out at the start by getting him to listening to friendly contacts when cleaning up the baltic . Submerge often and get the most training you can for the hydrophone operator in the first patrol . When starting off a campaign it is important to start at the beginning of the war so you can get the crew trained before patrolling in dangerous waters . You have to decide do i need to spend more time in the Baltic to get my crew trained more before heading off to british waters .

They work fine :yep: I just tried the F8 key , it works fine . You have to be submerged for it to work .

Because of the way irai is set up now leave it as is . Start the campaign from the beginning and try to get the crew abilities upgraded and the crew trained up a bit . You will need every bit of skill , shadowing convoys to work out number of escorts and escape plans , depths to survive . If playing on 100% realism . I have no idea how to do maual TDC so best of luck . Use the real navigation with Trevallys automation . Its great . cheers .

Download the mods .
Extract with 7zip and put the correct folders (there might be multiple folders in a mod ) in the MODS folder .

QUESTION FOR YOU sober I installed everything but the real navigation mod. And when im patrolling now looking for something to sink I no longer see any trails of the enemy ships before I visually spot them. According to my settings I think I should have trails still or am I supposed to manually run the hydrophone now ? It seems im only finding ships by visually spotting them now.

So, I created a new campaign and decided to do the patrol in Baltic operation. I went there with time compression, somehow that it kept freezing second by second when I'm getting near to Poland. The game crashed to desktop when the time compression freeze was longer.

Did I caused a mod soup with TheBeast's mod? :hmmm:

Lately I experienced myself high TC CTD's. I had FX Update, IRAI, New UI's (stock options), Dynamic Environment, and my skycolor fix, all enabled via JGSME on a fresh SH5 install patched with 4gb patch.

I am sure it was not a memory/campaign issue, as I was playing a test mission in the middle of the ocean, at dead stop, and with no unit around my sub. CTD's happened 3-4 times, at 256-512x TC.

I had never experienced such a problem on my system before, but I cannot say that my CTD's were caused by the mods I mentioned above, since lately my CPU/GPU tend to overheat (I am running SH5 a laptop) and my custom mission could have been bugged. Nevertheless, it seems I am not the only one having a similar trouble, as in the last days at least two other people including SgtPotato, reported more or less the same issue... :hmmm:

Test missions are only good for some amount of time. After x time the game always CTDs with them. Don't know why or the exact amount of time that has to pass but it is guaranteed you will CTD in a single mission at one point.

for clarifying the matter and throwing light on this custom mission's limit. :)

If, as it is likely, what you are saying applies to my CTD's, then we should conclude that they haven't anything to do with the ones reported by other forum members.

What is weird is that IIRC CTD's evenience was quite erratic, i.e. not especially connected to a given amount of time from the beginning of the mission I was playing. Anyway it wouldn't be the first time that high TC's are messing things in game, altering factors that should be fixed, and randomizing in this case the maximum mission time limit. :hmmm:

One last detail I can mention, just in case, is that I was having the kind of CTD where the first frame of the intro video (a poster showing a girl) is flashing shortly before you find yourself on the desktop.

Thanks for info sober, I could finally start playing. One suggestion is to host some of the files away from subsim, since there is a 10 DL limit here, therefore one cannot complete his list in a single day, more likely 2 or 3 days.

One thing that keeps happening tho is a CTD caused by Time Compression. I did everything that was on the list, patched, configured the mods and so, but still, after some time playing the campaing missions (not the tutorial), the time compressing gets progressively slower and twitchy to the point of CTD. What I do is saving the game about every 15 minutes, extiting and reloading from there. Every time it reloads, the game feels smooth again. There must be some sort of memory leakage somewhere, which progressively clogs the system. I currently have 8GBs of RAM installed.

One other thing that seemed strange was the behavior of my first pray. At first look its behavior seemed quite impressive to me, zig zagging, so I plot my intercept course acordingly. I dont know if I was indeed detected by this merchant, at long range, 8nm, but he was changing course after a few minutes, totally random, but with no actual destination. I could take it if I knew that he detected me, changing course to avoid my interception, but otherwise, it seems very strange that he was just fishing in hostile waters, in the middle of war! :arrgh!:

My hard disk crashed and when I installed your mod list I am getting CTD every time I try to use any of the map tools. I am using your mod list, a reinstall of Sh5 and I followed your instructions. So what did I do wrong?:/\\!!Have you used a previous setup and have the options file editor and have are the map tools required for obelixs io stretigic map tools set to True . It is found in the maps heading in the options viewer .

No haven't used a previous setup. Where can I find the options file editor? I don't understand your question about the obelixis to stetigic map tools is that found in sh5 file? sorry for being so dump:hmmm:

Hi Sober, I set the stretigic map tools to true, I even down loaded a fresh TDC _6_9_0 ByTheDarkWraith and started a new campaine, My mod list is exactly like yours with the same versions. Still have the same problem, it doesn't matter what tool I choose or where I click the mouse as soon as I do I get a CTD:/\\!! Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help

I dont know why the ctd . I have uninstalled and installed the game about 25X with my mod list and never a ctd . Your using the MEP file to load the mods ?

I used the save mods in the Generic Mod which saved them in a doc. folder then used Generic mod to load the files in the right order. Should I do another uninstall then fresh install of the game?

Unenable the mods
uninstall the game including the saves
go to your sh5 game folder and delete any residual files except for the mods folder
reinstall the game and patch to 1.2
enable the mods
make sure sync saves are turned off in the launcher

Thanks Sober for for the mod list, it has rekindled my interest in SH5. A quick question: Is the NewUIs_TDC_6_9_2 Patch needed? If so should it be installed immediately after NewUIs_TDC_6_9_2ByTheDarkWraith or it can be later in the mod list? Thank you for the hard work!!! :arrgh!:

Have been playing modded SH3 a lot in past few years. That game still kicks butt.

I did as you suggested and it worked, no more ctd:yeah: the problem is that I really do not want to use the real Nav. so I remove it from the mod list and guess what everytime I tried to use map tool I got a ctd:/\\!! I went throuth everything, fresh install of SH5 fresh install of all the mods and followed your mod order with the exception of no real Nav. Do you have any suggestions:hmm2: Do I need to change to Mod list order since I removed the real Nav. mod? Thanks again for all your help

Try real nav with the automation script so the navigator gives you a position every 2 hours .
