Hey,
Since installed all the mods from sobers list, "what is awesome ^^"
i cant switch back to azerty beyboard :) (im belgian),
so is there anyway way/mod to switch it back? :)
ps. i did find a file in "speech mods", where i could change some keys like "zqsd" but it didnt changed ingame :)

I am not happy with the dat ships . Slows the game down too much in port . With TDW GR2 editor modders can add new GR2 ships to replace the dat ships . You will have to start a new campaign if using the list dated 0715 07/07/2012 .

I can see what you mean but i expect some of these mods are continually changing (e.g. TDW's mods constantly being updated). I havent been around for a while but i assume that probably more than 50% of these mods do not change.
Therefore, maybe a better idea would be if those mods that dont change could be packaged up as 1 download.
Just thinking out loud here :)

Okay, so I am using a older mod list that you posted because the new TDW interface version 7 won't download and I have managed (after too much renaming and making folders) to narrow my list of missing mods down to this.
OHII minefield map
sobers smaller rocks, no plants.
I am not going to download the entire list again (a many day affair), extract them all, go through and locate subfolders, make missing folder, rename mods and everything else just to find that these are still missing.
Can someone please just give me direct links on where to get these, like, direct links to the actual download path and not the forum post.
I am sorry for being blunt but this whole thing has lots of promise if I can only find all the downloads hidden in massive forum posts (where the links often send you) that don't even tell you what is in some downloads.
This mod does highlight the need for some format rules for downloads and perhaps even the need for a actual GWX style megamod that installs itself.
I mean, this mod soup stuff must be getting old for some, right?

After a clean SH5 1.2 install into a clean Windows 7 i installed Sober's modlist and enabled the mods. Starting the game i choose a misson, but i don't see the SH5Enhanced interface i guess. What i see is a minimal interface without officer buttons and without the white bar in the top middle of the screen (with eyes). Clicking the course bar changes course but the nice compass/ruddder dial can't be made visible. Also i can't drag the tablecharts with speed vs. distance info from the upper left corner, they're not there. The button bars i see show less buttons then i was used to. In the middle of the screen there's this square 'cross' button blinking, when i click it it explains how to move and use mouse. On the map i don't see the big map tools i used to have.
I checked the options file, selected interface is SH5enhanced.
Started career as instructed, changed CareerHistory HasCompletedTutorial=true.
Obviously i did something wrong, but what? Without the new interface by TDW it's not fun :)

Use the mod validator included tn TDW UI mod to see if they are installed correctly :yep:

Thank youI didnt bother about it but you might be able to add it . I dunno which mod it is though . Put last in the mod list and see what happens . I will be away for the next week chasing Trevally , cheers . It overwrites a lot so i wouldnt knouse it in my list .

Is there a way to permanently delete old saves from a previous campaign?
I ticked "offline mod" and "no cloud synchronisation", went to "my document" and deleted the whole SH5 folder containing my profile savegames, but still when i launch the game it will synchronize my old saves from the server... :down: (happens when i get to the main menu)

Load a savegame from the main menu and then, while you are in the game, hit escape and choose save. You can then click on an old savegame file and in the bottom right corner (if I'm not mistaken) should be an option to delete the file. Yes, I know, a terribly awkward way to delete saved games, but that's how it's done, unfortunately.

That's not a problem. As the game gives me no way to get the weather from the scriptmanager I have to ask for a weather report and extract the needed data from it to determine if the navigator is able to perform a celestial fix or not.

Right you are. One other thing -- AI_sub_crew_1_0_1_TheDarkWraith does not appear to be available, only version 1_0_2. The page you link does have a "v1.0.1 via Subsim downloads" link, but that actually goes to 1.0.2. I'll just rename the folder to 1_0_1, hopefully it won't cause any crashes.

Yup, same here last night. I find this quite annoying too. And I've been around since 2009...
Even now, "the morning after", I am supposed to wait another couple of hours before I can move on. :nope:
I wish *all* of these mods were available on mediafire or alike...

I agree, I assumed it was a 24 hour cycle which reset at midnight so I could continue this morning but it looks like it's once you start downloading so I am screwed until tonight...dang. I have my bro and dad downloading the other mods I don't have but they can only get 3 at a time haha Mediafire FTW

How i adjust the SH5 save game folder before starting a career .
What adjustments do i make to TDW UI options .
The save game folder is usually installed to your documents folder and is named SH5
The document that you want to adjust is found in
Documents\SH5\data\cfg\main
The first settings i adjust are the time compression settings .
Here is what i adjust them to.
You can copy and paste into your folder .
[TIME COMPRESSION]

CriticalDamage=256

Manos Scopes can be found inside the NewUI's By TDW....go to the subfolder Mods inside this mod, there should be one called "Scopes-do not enable-read", then you will find a sub-folder called "Manos Scope mod"

256TC is what i use but change it to whatever you want . 512 is a good compromise also . Be aware that if using 512TC then the OptionsFileEditorViewer TC settings come into play if you leave it at the stock 1024TC setting .

I fired up the game with the mods I had and put them in the set order. The last mod to be applied was 'Grossdeutscher Rundfunk'
Everything started up really well, adjusted my graphic settings to find a good balance and when I started I dived to periscope depth but when I go to the scope the whole screen is white except for the mini map on the left. This is the same for both Attack and Observation scope.
Is this because all mods have not yet been applied or is something gone wrong earlier?
I will take a screenshot when I play the game again and post it.

Trojan detected within a Darkwraith TDC mod
According to the screenshot you've posted below, the application detected as a trojan by your antivirus is TDW's patcher, not his UI/TDC mod.
Anyway there's no reson for worrying: it is a documented false positive. Look here:

Which mod caused the twinkle on the water?
It looks not good on my pc. :hmm2:Open up the MEP file with notepad and delete the sobers best ever waves V5 SH5 . Load the new mod profile from the mod enabler\Tasks

Hi sober!
I use e.g. your "Best ever Waves v5" and "Lights Cfg v4" MODS.
Does the "Twinkle on water effect" not come from the "Lights cfg v4" MOD? :hmmm: It comes from the waves mod?
I ask, because in my opinion the "Twinkle on water effect" is a little bit too strong! Is it possible to reduce this effect?
Now it looks like in a sunshine day as lying millions of swarovski diamonds on the water...! :haha:

Sober, as you are already aware of, the list of yours contains some 60 or more mods. With a download limit of 10 files per day, it would take at least 6 days to get all the mods. Do you think you could (now or in the future) be doing an archive that contains all the mods, and then regularly update the archive as mods change. That would be a great thing, and we could just grab the archive in one go, install it with JSGME, and play immediately. :arrgh!:

Ok, that is ok. Do you happen to know where I can download all the mods from your list, without clicking each link individually. Do you have it stored somewhere on the internet where I can download it? I have some 54 remaining mods, my download limit just expired, hehe. I managed to get to "Sobers best ever fog", I miss the remaining mods from that and downwards. I am so in for playing this list tonight :(

downloaded the up to date mod list into a new install of SH5 followed the instructions and getting a CTD when skipping tutorial prior to entering bunker assumed a problem with OH2 V 1.9. installed all the mods accept OH2 and bunker screen loads no problem. Install OH2 on its own and it loads bunker screen no problem. Check OH2 V1.9 against all mods on the list. CTD on TDW_Ship_Inertia_1_1_0 all other mods loading bunker screen. Any suggestions

I have had the same problem with my mod soup.. I think the reason is out of memory..

the strange thing is TDW IRAI damage test mod works ok its only the ship inertia that causes CTD at the bunker screenAwesome specs , I really dont know . I am playing the game atm with ship inertia . Try downloading the mod again , maybe corrupted file . Or maybe try unenabling all mods / enabling all mods again . Click on mod enabler /Tasks/load mod profile to have the mod enabler auto load the mods in the correct order . You have to start a new career .

Also tried disabling inertia damage without any success but it still loads with inertia damage enabled. I will go back and have a look at OH2 and TDWs Ship Inertia threads to see what I am doing wrong. I know I can play without ship inertia but I have been playing this sub game series since Silent Service on the Commodore C64 so I am not letting this beat me. Oh and by the way thanks to you for the work on your mega mod and all the other contributors

I can't see why these two mods would not work together:hmmm:
Inertia mod only changes the sim file for the sea units in stock.
OHII does nothing with those files.
Does it work with only these two mods enabled:06:

Can you try installing Inertia before OHIIv1.9
Then run TDWs - C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Applications\SH5 Validator\SHValidator.exe
and post the report

When TDW_Ship_Inertia was released I tried to start new campaign and have had a constant CTD..
I thought then that is the memory problem..
But you have enough memory on your PC and have that issue also..
I tried used OHII Enviro (without new ships) also.. nothing change..

EDIT: I tried enabled TDW_Ship_Inertia at the mid patrol.. everything ok but when I returned to homebase I have had CTD..

I am not a moder and dont even understand how they work but I do know that mods alter shared files so this is how I solved my issue in laymans terms in the hope that it may help others as Sober and Trevally helped me.
Loaded Sobers mod list and followed all instructions but getting CTD on bunker screen. Disabled OH2 as largest mod. Game loaded bunker screen. Checked OH2 against mods and found it would load with everything but Ship Inertia. Disabled ship inertia and all other mods loaded bunker screen. So I assumed that there was conflict between OH2 and Ship inertia and I was stumped then Trevally suggested loading both together without other mods and bingo they both liked each other and loaded bunker screen.
Back to testing mods to see who was upsetting OH2 and Ship inertia and discovered they didnt like No Hydrophones on surface. This is an old mod so I checked what it was changing and it was changing new mods starting from FX Update so enabled after A1 sub crew and before FX Update and enabled all other mods in order and I am now enjoying my first mission with these excellent mods.

EDIT: I'm using - EQuaTool 01.01 by AvM - add-on - Coloured Simple Tools and EQuaTool 01.01 by AvM - Medium Faber-Castell Style
I don't like Obelix map tools.. and not enable it..
EDIT2: Trying now disable R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast or enable it before TDW Ship Inertia and see what changes..
But Ship Inertia doesn't include UBoot_Sensors.sim and I don't see any reason..

I just reinstalled the game and loaded the mods exactly in the order that i have using the MEP file . The game loads and i am playing the new OH2 version 2 now with no problems . Using the mods in any order other than using the MEP file order is at your own risk .

Couldnt agree more Sober it was only my intention to highlight my individual issue and my workaround obviously many people are playing the game using your list but as you know this game throws up little quirks to each system or install.
Having pre ordered SH5 in 2010 in its little fancy tin and only playing for a week and reallising the potential and putting it on hold until you guys did your stuff I can only stand back in amazement at the difference you and your fellow artists ( moders doesnt describe your achievements ) have created.
I will now retreat back into my tin can and monitor mod updates

I was updating my "soberlist" having same problem (of crashing in the bunker) thanks for the info:up:
Report Back: didn't fix problem any suggestions???????
UPDATE: Found problem to be user error. TDW exe.Patcher I failed to enable mod fully (damage to zone box) . I went ahead anyways and placed No Hydrophones on surface between Ai sub and fX mods, everything is AOK.:up:
I'll take a sinking U-boat in the cold North Atlantic over modding this game any day

Real navigation , use the automation button on the right side panel and enable the real navigation automation . The navigator will plot a position on the map every 2 hours . Press the red square in the middle of the heading bar to bring up the round compass . When the navigator gives you a cross on the nav map use the map tool to find the heading that you need to go then just use the round compass to set your sub to the desired heading .

The most of the mods are new to me, and call me nub, but i wan't to navigate like vanilla, clicking my uboat and plotting the course. I can't see my sub now in the TAI or the map and i don't see my old circles 1-2-3 for my torpedoes.
Which mod should i disable or edit for the above to work?
Btw, otherwise the mods seem to be very cool and nicely done.

EDIT: I understand that Trevallys mods are essential for automication if would try no use the real navigation... Hmm.. But have to wait for tomorrow then for those mods..
And another thing, can i just remove one of the mods via JSGME after installed Sober's mod list? Or do i have to remove all mods, reinstall the game then make a new custom sobers.mep??

Uninstall individual mods the n click on Tasks\save mod profile . Call the new MEP file a diffrent name . Now you have 2 diffrent mod setups which you can auto install by clicking on Tasks\load mod profile . Just uninstall NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_Real_Navigation if you want to go back to vanilla plotting . But it is more fun using real navigation and use automation button on the right of the GUI and the navigator will draw a plot on the nav map every 2 hours . Just grap your compass from the compass tools or ther is a plotter to the right of the gui and place over the plot and drag the compass to see which way you need to go . If you click on the red square on the heading bar then it brings up the submarine compass . Click on this compass to change direction (only works at 8TC or below i think ).

First of all,
Thank you all modders and Sober for making me enjoy and beeing able to play the game for the first time!
A question, theoretically, if i have enabled most of Sober's mod list and started a new campaign, can i when i go to port and get the autosave do like this? I want to disable all addons and reinstall them with Sober's mod list and add the rest that i wan't to the list to get the mods installed in the right order and then continue my saved campaign?
And a last thing. When i play my campaign "Coastal Waters, North Western Approaches" my objective is corrupted with "Campaign.camp.obj.macro.obj......" etc. in the objective text.

-Removed morale increase from destroyed merchant ships
-Removed morale increase from several dialogue lines
-Tweaked values further, now active abilites reduce less morale
-Added support to OH II 1.9 Monsun Gruppe campaign

sorry, I should have been more specific - speech recognition. Though there doesn't seem to be another version but skwas/MiTons.
Another question: has the TDWs DC Water Disturbance mod been implemented in any of the other mod or has there been another fix for that particular issue?

As far as I know, it is still a separate mod. I just added it to the end of sober's mod list, and it didn't conflict with any other mods.
The speech recognition mod can also be added without any conflicts, if I remember correctly. Just make sure that you don't use it while your TC is above 1X, or it might cause a CTD, depending on your PC.

It took me only 3 days, so thatīs okay.
BTW. Does anyone use the R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2? Think to put it in the end, but iīm not sure.

quick questions about your (Sober) list:
1. I'm planning to put in speech recognition by Miton (New ui edition v 0.4.1 english).. can you or anyone help me, please?
2. i'm currently running OHII full v2, can i take out the OHII mod if i want to play the stock version?
3. I finally re installed the game (clean).. and wondering.. before that all the Trevally's tutorial all, harbour pilot, on opening screen (select tutorial) when i hover over the files it showed "Corrupted Automation File"

In theory you should still be able to patch all the other files except the sh5.exe if you are using the steam version of the game. I have a hunch Steam only messed with the main exe as they are unfamiliar with the support files (act files) :hmmm:

has nobody ever thought of making a download link where every mod is in on the list? so you don't have to get over 50 different download links... or make some kind of a launcher where everything gets taken care off.

The mods are still evolving very much, and new ones are being made almost daily (just look at TDW's recent work on his patcher) so it would be almost impossible to update such a launcher on a daily basis. For now you'll have to do it all yourself, but that way you have the privilege of tailoring the mods to your taste, which has its advantages too.:up:

When new people get in here they will see mega mod by sober and i am smart enough to know, that you are one of the lead mod developer here, i heared your name being credited a lot in some youtube vids. people will for sure think "hey i want that list that that sober guy uses lets try it out" then the unexperienced guys like myself lol :/\\!!

Well it didnīt do that when I tried it (JSGME 2.6.0.157)
It seemed to skip mods that were overwriten by something so I ended up with a totally f* up game. I had to manually install mod by mod to get it working

yeah, that what I have been doing. To actually start testing, though, I downloaded only the actually important once, leaving the look/cosmetic mods for the last. Still need to download couple of things w/ conning tower and wet hull... But I can start actually trying to put the soup together...
And the .mep file is easily edited.

I used the mod
DynEnv 2.1 SkyColor Hotfix DarkerNights
and
sobers Lights Cfg V4 SH5
and
Window lights redone.
I tried them but found i could see nothing which didn't feel playable. I removed them but i think the settings still are there somehow and can't see anything at night.
Any idea how to revert it?

I have gone back to open horizons parts . I am over the dat ships , they seem to slow my computer down to much in ports . Just install the new MEP list when in port next .

Extract the 2 mods into your MODS folder where all the other mods are . Run the mod enabler and click on Tasks/Load mod profile . The mod enabler will auto load the new mod list in the correct order for you . Just wait until you are in the bunker again before you install the new list . If your computer can handle the full OH2 mod then dont worry about the new list .

i have everything installed except the sh5 realistic repair times.
i was expecting massive CTD's but hey guess what, it worked:salute:

Thats exactly why i love this setup of individual modders mods . You can remove most and try it or add mods etc . Its a basis for getting started with your own mods list . This list works with TDW mods . No ctds . Cheers .

The OptionsFileEditorViewer is a pretty straight forward tool. It basically takes the Options file of the TDWs NewUI and allows you to change it, instead of loading the .py file into a text editor, editing each entry manually and saving the file in proper format (don't remember, but it has to be ANSI or smth along those lines for .py properly work).
In order to use it (and most of the time you want to use it with NewUI disabled) all you need to do:
1) go to your /MOD/NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applications \OptionsFileEditorViewer.exe (it is a launchable app).
2) in the OptionsFileEditorViewer window that opens, click "File" >> "Open" and direct it to options file (I'm not exactly remember where in the folder structure it is located, but when you see it, it will have "Options" and ".py" in its name - maybe I'll fix the location when I get home today)
3) and that is it. What you will have is file open in a view of multiple tabs, representing various parts of the options relating to various parts of the UI.
What sober is talking about above in regards to IO_StrategicMap, for example, is located in tab for "Maps".

i am still adjusting stuff here and there. Because i am under the impression that some things aren't loaded in correctly? Like i am missing my swastika flag on my u boat. Maybe i overlooked some things, i just installed everything with the JGSME but i learned that you have to do some small adjustments like the subject being talked about in the posts above.
at first its a real pain in the ass to get everything sorted out
but will get there eventually :)
i gotta say i can't play the "vanilla" game ever again after using mods :yeah:

here is actually what I was wondering after this post: if, lets say, I use Real Nav (which updates the menu.txt again after the NewUI), is it worth to point to the real nav menu.txt instead of newui when editing options?

I am trying to get Sobers mega mod (with a few tweaks) working with my game of SH5 but I am finding it difficult to get it working.
Whenever I try to start a new campaign, it freezes on the menu (exactly at the point when I click Yes when prompted about skipping the tutorial) with a background error message saying the following:
Data Corrupted
Campaign Data not found for CampaignID=MonsunGruppe43
Clicking OK will resume me back to the game at the Campaign selection screen. But when I go ahead to select the campaign, the game never successfully loads, crashing after a number of minutes instead.
I spent a few hours trying to troubleshoot what the problem might be, but I am stumped :(

Two thoughts:
1. Possibly your copy of OHII got corrupted during the download, or is missing some files.
2. You shouldn't be using OPEN HORIZONS II_base, OPEN HORIZONS II_enviro and OPEN HORIZONS II_New_Ships at the same time. If you want to enjoy all the features of OHII, I suggest you to enable the full version.
Whatever of the above statements is true, downloading OHII full and enabling it in place of OHII parts should fix your problem :up:

Spot on. OH2 was the culprit and I simply went with the Full package, as suggested, and it did the trick. :salute:
Unfortunately the game is still crashing after loading. The exact procedure of what is happening is: I start Coastal Waters Campaign -> Loading screen -> Period of black screen -> Back to Desktop, no error messages whatsoever, Uplay still intact.
I am thinking that I missed something that I had to do when installing the mods but first I will try and isolate the problem by loading up the mods one by one rather than all at once. Can I do that? Considering that sober insists on the mod collection being installed on a fresh installation.
But to still address the possibility that I might have missed something, must I use dgbview and is the unofficial 1.3 patch necessary? I rather avoided both considering that I was rather not sure with how they worked, thus I feared that they might cause more problems by doing it wrong myself.

4 Gb of RAM on a Windows 7 64-bit OS. OS seems to use 1.3-1.5Gb while Idle (hatching plans to conquer the universe more like), yet it still leaves it with more than 2Gb of RAM, which I would have thought it to be more than enough. Indeed while observing the game's memory usage, it only uses up to about 1.5Gb of memory right before it crashes. So unless the OS is limited to 3Gb, it shouldn't be the problem I reckon.

I would follow sobers list to the letter - it is a long list of mods and im sure needs to be in the correct order.
You have patched the game to v1.2:06:
Have you used TDWs patcher also:06:
Have you used the options editor:06:
With all of these things you should do them one at a time and check all is well before doing any more - that way you can see where the issue happened

To answer you: Yes, No and Yes.
For what would I need TDWs patcher? I found it rather confusing. And I think I used the options editor successfully except for one instance, which is the following:
Use NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applications \OptionsFileEditorViewer
Message Box
TC1OnAnyMessageBoxText = True
Time compression
TCxOnContactDistanceEnabledTCLevel=1024
I tried finding the said options, but I didn't find them. I presumed it had to do with the version being 7_1_0 rather than 6_9_0, so I skipped it.
