Usually just as I get to the bunker.....................It did go a little further once , I had the interface and could move around but there was a window with 2 pains and "OK" in each. Then I think 2options at the bottom. Cancel and Accept neither of which I could click on so I could nt get rid of it

Sober............In your image of your main SH5 folder , you have the generic patcher ? but in the how to install guide I don't see where it says anything about installing it to the main game folder?

there is two ways of installing the patch as far as I can tell, if I am wrong please someone stepping here.

I don't know if it's mod related but why can't I see marks on the minimap? I only see them in the large map. Can someone help?

It must be a corrupted file , mod , installation error . I just tried it and dont have those 2 errors .

If by marks you are referring to supermarks, destroyed marks, and nav fixes then there is no problem. I don't display them on the TAI map, only the nav map.

in the option file editor in ships journal tap changed sub no and captain name

THEN edit documents\sh5\data\cfg\playersetting.cfg file to make the uboat hull nunber there match the entry above Find this line unitname

Here, it doesn't work with the TDW file viewer editor.
I have to open manually the .py file (the old way) and type the new captain name and U number.
Then as said above, in Documents/SH5/data/Cfg/playersettings i type the new U number to match what i have chosen in the .py file.

Hello!
Downloaded the all inclusive, ran the .mep to install, and got the tutorial disabled

Started up the game, went new campaign, no tutorial, and then it crashes before it loads up the bunker

In the logs:
RadioMessages_2

... that's it. Any ideas?

Maybe this will help some folks:

I had a host of problems getting this all working, but eventually got it all going, maybe this will help someone, or maybe Sober will tell me how badly I messed up and to stop giving bad advice.

How Singed, a totally new SH5 player, got Sober's complete list working, on a laptop no less, in a way that will let him play 3-4 complete gaming sessions between odd, random CTDs.

Assumptions: Any previous installations of SH5 completely eliminated, SH5 installed outside of Program Files directory and latest updates from Ubisoft applied. JSGME installed in SH5 directory. 7zip installed.

- Get the latest all in one from Subsim. Some of it is superseded, but it represents the bulk of the downloading work.

- Get Sober's newest .MEP file.

- Extract the all in one to a temporary directory and start going through each mod. Pulling the correct one to SH5/Mods. Note that some mods are basically mods within mods, so just pulling the entire folder may not work right. You may have to use 7zip to drill down a layer or two to get to what you really need.

Clue: The mod you need will have the right name and will only have a /data folder and maybe a /documentation folder.

- When this is done, put Sober's latest .MEP file in the SH5/Mods directory.

- Using JSGME, go to TASKS -> Import mod profile: Attempt to load Sober's latest MEP. It will fail, but give you a list of what is missing or changed. Take notes, it will save you a lot headaches.

- This is where the detective work begins. Referring to this thread, pages 1-5 or so, you can track down every mod that is different and get those.

- Again, go through each mod making sure it is not actually a small collection of mods and place it in SH5\mods. Remember the clue from above.

- Once all the mods are safely in SH5\Mods but before actually installing them, read all of Sober's instructions and follow them to the letter. Make the TDW patch, the changes to Real Navigation, and all the rest.

Only when all of this is done, import the mods.

Like I said, I had a ton of problems, but this exact process got it running for me about 2 weeks ago and I've had very few problems. For anyone with doubts, Sober's compilation works very well and is an awesome game experience.

Also: I only play SH5 on a fresh boot of the machine with no other programs running. When I do CTD, it has always been cases where I failed to play on a fresh boot or tried to immediately reload SH5 after one without rebooting first. I think the game itself, with the mods, is pretty resource heavy and invites conflicts, a fresh boot with no other programs running minimizes the changes.

Finally: If this helps anyone, and the modders bless it off as technically correct and accurate, I'll be happy to make the documentation prettier. I just typed this off the cuff in about 15 minutes.

removed silentmichals interior mod as some people were getting a ctd on loading a new campaign .

I think some people were getting a ctd because of TDW_Ship_Inertia_1_1_0.. not because of silentmichals interior..

silentmichals interior may cause ctd when exiting the game and not at the start of a new campaign..

I was wondering if you could include a list of hot keys ( not to include the basic game keys of course ) that have been incorporated through all of the mods on the list. I know that I have a heck of a time remembering all of them and I think that would be very helpful to some people. Especially to my pee brain. Thanks Sober.

Since i have re-installed my NewUIs TDC 7.1 mod this time using 7Zip application instead of Winrar for extraction ---> it's working now :sunny:
I even found new lines in the files viewer!! :o

I highly suspect plenty mods zipped by modders with 7Zip that i extracted with winrar, were corrupted on my PC at some point!!
Just can't believe it :Kaleun_Mad:

Currently re-extracting and re-installing all my mods downloads using 7Zip when it's a 7Zip folder :yeah:

Right started again and saved my SH5 install patched to 1.02 so when it all goes tits up I dont have to install again.
First hiccup, the list has NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ but in the download it's 7_2_0_?
Does it matter which is used?

Hello,

Don't know if I am in the right thread but when I try to play a campaign with the Type VIIC Uboat and try to dive I get a CTD. Even in the Historical missions that start submerged it does the same thing when I try to surface. I started playing after applying the mega mod with the 1939 campaign with the Type VIIA (Or B ?) and have no problems. Did I not do something correctly? Has anyone else had this problem?

That is because gamefront is being a schmuck. The country you are from most likely is on the list of blocked countries. The mod needs to be re-uploaded somewhere else.

Is that due to a particular mod or the game engine? Seems strange they would allow you to go above that TC if they knew it would make the game unstable.

At first launch, biggest immersion improvment is definitely the MadMaxs_SH5_Subdiesel (mono) v2 :o
Quite incredible sound on my rig! I love it :up:

Other nice touch is the water droplet sound instead of the traditional "clic"! :D

I'll have to use the keymapper mod though, because i really don"t like the stock keys for mouving...gonna be an easy change.

Thanks I'll give it a try. I liked the last version except for the small waves, I actually combined small waves from another mod with yours and was well pleased. More realistic riding sub in the waves is a must try for me. :rock:

How do I set waypoints on the nav map? My sub is not showing up on the navmap or the mini map so I can't plot any courses. Is there a feature I'm supposed to turn off or on? I don't like real navigation. It scares me. :shifty:

Like, should I disable everything in the Mod enabler all the way back to "NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_Real_Navigation" to remove it and then enable everything back in order minus the "NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_Real_Navigation" so I can play nerf navigation again?

After some web research, it seems in SH5 you can't ask a contact report to hydro guy while seeing that boat (in whatever scope station, or binoculars).

In short, when a boat icon appear on the map, it desable the hydro guy features...:doh:

(an other mod for request! lol)

EDIT: The REM mod makes the hydro contact on surface not avalaible too...(stock GHG hydro)

Hi guys, I need some help on a bug I have with this two tools.

I have install sobers megamod and runs perfectly well with the exception of the protractor and ruler. When you try to use both of them and you left click your mouse to fix the first point, the point was marked in another place, far away from the center of this tools.

The compass is working well.

Do you know a fix for this ?.

I'm using the non-lite version but what kind of frame rates do you get in port (kiel)? I have a 790GTX 3GB and 12GB RAM on Windows 7 64-bit and I only get like 28fps in port but out to sea I get like 78fps with max AA, AF turned on at 16x in my GPU settings, Vsync off, max shadows. Is this common?

There is a lot of activity in port and lots of buildings, buoy, lights, smoke, etc to render so is that what's slowing things down so much . It doesn't matter if I lower settings either. I turned shadows to half-way and turned AF off in my GPU settings, turned AA off and all it did was make the game ugly (blocky) but the frame rate was still the same in port. I get anywhere between 20 and 29fps inside the bunker. Outside the bunker in the channel my frame rates are around 29 to 38 which is better (this is with settings on low or high it doesn't matter) and out to sea they improve dramatically (double or triple the frame rates). Even in a large convoy I was getting 56 to 68fps which is awesome. It's just the ports, namely inside the bunker that is slow. I don't have CCC because I have an Nvidia 790GTX card. I'm not using multisampling AA. Just in-game AA. I've got AF set at 16x in the Nvidia settings.

There's an option to "enhance" the in-game AA and I can set that from 2x all the way up to Multi-GPU 64CSAA but I think that would kill my graphics card. LOL!

It's playable enough. Not like I have to deal with being in the bunker for too long and in the port channel the frame rate is smooth enough at 30+ (I get around 38 so it's certainly playable and smooth).

I was just wondering if it was normal. So it's the "Open Horizons 2" mod I'm using that's causing this? Fair enough. I like all the eye-candy in it so I'll leave it running. Like I said, I don't spend a lot of time in the bunker and the 25fps I get in the bunker is not too bad really. It's worth the price for all the extras OH2 offers once I get out of the bunker. :up:

Thanks for the above link have just read your post in the threat about the interior lights so if I do what you suggest i.e. "solution for the "light bubbles" issue is removing bec_submarine.dds from the mod..
it's nVidia cards problem with this mod.. "

It would be better then the Nvidia patch, and I wouldn't be breaking V1.2.2 Patch

Aaa... :-? So my game was 1.0.5 when newest patch is 1.2.0. Strange because when i downloaded 1.2 patch it said it was 1.0.2 and then it said it cant be installed on current version. However collectors edition 1.2.0 patch worked :)

As far as I know, 1.2.0 and 1.0.2 are the same.. and you can install it only on version 1.0.0 of the game..

I put a whole bunch of MODs (Sobbers Mega Mod in one download) with the ModEnabler on a new SH5 instal. Used JSGME -Task sobers.mep (70 activated) some black some grey. Then i worked out the TDW Patcher 1_0_74_0 like in the Thread (How to use TDWs Patcher) No Problem. I then played the TDW at the End of all activated MODs. A Warning showed a Conflict of two Files with existing UIs MOD. Hmmmm:hmmm:
I Started the Game in Offline Modus. UPlay starts the Game. All works fine.
Choose the Campain. Skip Intro. Loading Screen apears. Wait... Wait...
After about 2mins the Game drops on Desktop and UPlay thanks me for playing:woot:
I got a bunch of Savegame Files in the Savegame Folder, which ive deleted bevor?
Does anybody know where the Problem might be??? Thanks for Help:salute:

I had that happen to me with that MEP file too. Don't use that MEP file.

Look for his latest MEP file on here and use that one. Load it up in the Mod Enabler and it will tell you all the mods it could find. Keep that warning up on your screen and come back on here and download each one of them. There's quite a few of them to download but most are small files and won't take too long to download.

Now here's the biggest thing. Go through each mod in the MODS folder and make sure none of them have double-folders after you unzip them. Take the time to go through each mod folder inside your MODS folder and ensure all of them are "mod name\data" and not "mod name\mod name\data" or they will not load properly and you will flood your main game directory with mods that are not doing anything at all.

Also remove any "documents" folders out of each mod so all that's left is the "data" folder because document folders are not needed for the mods to work, they slow down the mod enabler and can cause corruption in your mod install.

NOTE:

This is a bit of a cheat for making the install process a little easier and giving you control over what you want and don't want in Sober's MEP file.

Let's say there's a mod on Sobers MEP list you don't want to use. If so, you just simply create a dummy/empty folder in your MODS folder with the exact name of the mod you don't want to use and the mod enabler tool will think it's loading that mod when really it isn't because it's an empty/dummy folder.

I'm doing this for Sobers underwater FX mod because I don't like the underwater distortion look. I like playing with the external camera so I created a dummy/empty folder with the exact same name that Sober's MEP file called for just so I could have the ease of automation without having to manually install each one myself in the right order.

First off, Sober, thanks for taking the time to organise the mods, much appreciated.

I have a strange problem. I've started a new career in 1939 and have completed a few missions. When I buy upgrades for my sub, they don't seem to apply. I bought the 10.? deck gun to replace the 8.8 deck gun but if I stand near the gun when at sea, the tooltip still says 8.8. Any ideas?

One thing I forgot to do was type silentotto at the start.

But im confused with the NewUIs_TDC Mods. In the download there are the NewUIs_TDC_7_2_0 but the Mod List (sobers 0700 27022013.mep) request the NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0 which were not in the download package...
Didnt found anything in this huge Page about the differences betwen both.
Is there a newer mep file i dont know or do i have take the earlier version of TDC or do i have rewrite the mep file to the 7_2? Thanks for short explanation.

Just wanted to let you know, updated to the latest, and now getting occasional CTD's while en route to harbor, submerged

Also, saw a DD depth charge itself in shallows

Edit: Also, my uboat won't charge if the weather is even a bit bad - just a little bit of rocking, and it keeps going from surfaced to submerged, which has the deck crew running back and forth as well

Negative, I used the latest MEP file "sobers 0700 27022013" on fresh install. Just updating my mods folder. Problem disappears when I change NewUIs TDC By TheDarkWraith from ver 7.1.0 to 7.2.0 :hmmm:. I will try this setup.

Just in case someone do have the same problem :

I bought the game (DVD - Mediamarkt Brussels, 10€) last week and when first installed, it auto-patched to 1.5.
But then, I realise I missed the german voice trick so I unistalled and reinstalled... and then, the game didn't auto-patch to 1.2. Had a lot of bugs and CTD when testing all those mods before finaly notice that the game wasn't up to date. Anyway, I've used your 1.5 patch and now, it's perfect.

Just in case someone do have the same problem :

I bought the game (DVD - Mediamarkt Brussels, 10€) last week and when first installed, it auto-patched to 1.5.
But then, I realise I missed the german voice trick so I unistalled and reinstalled... and then, the game didn't auto-patch to 1.2. Had a lot of bugs and CTD when testing all those mods before finaly notice that the game wasn't up to date. Anyway, I've used your 1.5 patch and now, it's perfect.

You should use ONLY the TDW's Generic Patcher to make changes in the sh5.exe.. all fixes were included in the app..

if you have 'clean' sh5.exe saved before you have patched the game then replace your 'patched' file and run Patcher again..
if no, then reinstall the game to make sure..

Mat, are you zooming almost all the way in on the navagation map? That's how you'll see your sub in the pen, and can then start laying out your waypoints.

:hmmm: I'm not sure/remember exactly this is constant issue.. just recalled I have swapped these lines over a year ago and then I have swapped them back for some reasons.. maybe there were also some issues of crew sounds with these lines.. don't remember.. lines are - 830, 831.. just check it, you can always bring back these changes..

Hint : When in an enemy sea lane and you want to search the area . Try search automation . Click on the automation panel on the right hud to bring up the automation programs . Select one and sit back and watch the game go into automated search mode below and above the water searching with hydrophone and uzo . You will need to turn off TC1OnAnyMessageBoxText by clicking it off on the hud and disable TC1 on radio messages found on the radio message box .

Looking through the menu.txt I noticed that the "slow" entries were always before the "fast" entries. Except for lines 8055/8056. By putting slow in line 8055 and fast in line 8056 seems to have fixed the problem. But I still need to do some more testing.

Your MEP file doesnt work with your current compilation. It seems your Compilation is missing about a dozen or so mods that is needed. :huh:

Make that one short of two dozen missing mods!! :(

There are some MEP files inside the compilation folder, but it seems it only activates about 70 mods out of the 116.

I am also confused. Are SH5 Steam users **** out of luck? We cant use the Generic Patcher because i think i saw only NON steam users can use the Generic Patcher. Have you made a steam MEP by chance? I cant use the MEP file even if i download the missing mods because of the Generic Patcher issue.

just got all the mods working (there are a few more i want) and I gotta say this TOTALLY changes the game. I bought it when it came out and i was so discusted i havent played in what, 3 years? modding has made this well worth while.

Hello Folks

I still cant use the hydrophone.
Made a new installation from scratch. Thougt may my backup of sh5 folder could be corrupt.
Changed the new uis tdw like in the description. Worked out the generic patecher again.
After three hours of work i thougt now its clean now it has to work. But it doesent.
Only this hydrophon seems to strike. I do a mistake. But i dont know where the bug is.
Which mods are responsibel for the hydrophone. Is it just the generic patcher?
I need to find the problem. I love this game with all the changes you guys have made.
But i need this gramophon working...
Im thankfull for any direction to solve this problem.

I was in trouble too with REM and my mods list, thinking REM wasn't working correctly...in fact it was! But the hydro guy need some time and few mission to become accurate. Giving him points each time you can greatly helps!

your mod list features Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V8 by sober, but not Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 itself. At first, I thought that your "available by date version" of patch 1 included all the files contained in the "regular version" of the patch (the one by TheBeast himself), but it isn't so. :06:

I am not saying tha you are doing something wrong. I just wish to know if you have any special reason for not featuring the complete patch :hmm2:

In NewUIs_TDC_*_*_*_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applications , double clic on the fileviewer application icon, and clic file up left.
Set the right path to your SH5 folder (usually C:/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 5) and right path to the menu text (C:/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 5/MODS/NewUIs TDC ByTheDarkWraith/data/menu/menu.txt).
Then clic Open... and find your NewUIs TDC ByTheDarkWraith/data/scrript/menu/TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py, and open it.
The application will build all the different tabs :03:
Once changes made, save it by clicking the red cross and reactivate the New UIs!

Other important thing to do about time compression, is to set your Documents/SH5/data/Cfg/main as Sober told us in his thread!

Hi guys, I need some help on a bug I have with this two tools.

I have install sobers megamod and runs perfectly well with the exception of the protractor and ruler. When you try to use both of them and you left click your mouse to fix the first point, the point was marked in another place, far away from the center of this tools.

The compass is working well.

Do you know a fix for this ?.

Is there anything in this mod package that makes ships appear less frequently? I am having trouble finding enemy or even friendly ships. After several (real) hours of patrol, I was finally able to locate one small cargo ship with the hydro. I understand this is a sim but I have very limited time to play the game and would like to do more than just cruise around doing fruitless hydro checks every couple hours.

I haven't played the vanilla version of the game so I'm not sure if this is just how SH5 is or if the mods have somehow affected the frequency of encountering other vessels.

FenixLilly, there are plenty boats with OHII Full. Really plenty!
Your problem is you certainly have the rotating hydrophone wich works ONLY underwater...so you certainly miss plenty of contacts :yep:
You have to dive every 2 hours or so to detect something...and must admid it's frustrating/boring for myself too, when limited playing time.

I just navigate with the GHG one, wich is also historicaly accurate detecting on surface imo.

Just got into SH5 after a year or 2 hiatus. Looks like I need more training...which section of this mod disables the inherent SH5 torpedo launching (matching up with numbers)? I don't see that option anymore and I'm not good enough to actually go full realism :P

You don't have to do cel nav yourself. If you have New_UIs v7.2.0, navigator will calculate a position whenever you order him to, celestial fix when there is a clear horizon, dead reckoning anytime. I don't know where the buttons to do this are located, 'cause I play with speech rec and MiTon has verbal commands to do it. But I'm guessing it's under the Navigator icon somewhere.

To manage the multiple mods in New_UIs, go to NewUIs_TDC_7_2_0_ByTheDarkWraith/data/applications/ and launch the Options File Editor. Set the menu.txt path to the Data/Menu/menu.txt file in your mods folder. Set the sh5.exe path to your executable folder. Open the file Data/Scripts/Menu/TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py again in your mods folder. Then you should be good to go.

BTW, there is no setting for turning Real Nav on and off. You just don't install the Real Nav mod. But with a navigator to help you, Real Nav isn't hard at all. Of course, he isn't perfect and he isn't instantateous, either.:)

Just a thought: Have you drilled down to the actual mods in NewUIs_TDC_7_2_0_ByTheDarkWraith? There are two nested fodlers by that name. All the mods are in the second, lower one.

i have a question .... why doesnt show in mission bar how many Tonnage left or i sunk .... i just sunk 50k and my progress bar is emtpy :) i sunkt them in a range of 100km

i try it with sober mod list and same problem but i found something strage when ill disable the Orbit Listener and disable intro movies from tdw patch doesnt show my progres bar ( i mean mission tonnage ) and when ill play with the Orbit Listener enabled and enabled intro movies it's show .... i tested with 5 difrent mission and same rezults

Well, V 7.1.0 is better for me, cause i had some troubles with clicking icons not responding at first hit with V 7.2.0...

Hitting periscope depth and boat sticking on surface is...can be...deadly! :haha:

Usually i always make changes in fileviewer with mod deactivated, but for this snorkel stuff, it has to be activated :)

Thanks. but that's odd. I did previously set the path to those files...

I did it again, relinked the paths, then closed the application and reopened it but nothing appeared strangely. So I manually opened again that .py file, still not submarine tab. But I then noticed that the SH5 install path was still "accessible" in the menu. I pointed it again to the SH5 install folder and the Submarine Tab appeared!

I've just came back from a quick in-game test and it's working perfectly! Eastern Coastal Waters here I come! I wish I had my snorkel when I did the Scapaflow mission! lol!

One question remain tho. In the Submarine Tab, do I have to enable only one Snorkel or can I do it all at once for the 4 Uboats choices?

The mission screen must look like this when you start the first campaign and have entered the mission briefing map. If you dont have the request mission grey box (curser is pointing at it) and the ship icon (top left next to the campaign info box ) doesnt appear after clicking the grey box then installation is corrupt . Uninstall the game and saves then reinstall and start the campaign following the specific start campaign directions . Click on the flotilla comander again and choose start the new mission .

I've just installed your mod - downloaded as one zip file and installed properly using JSGME but when I try to start new career, after loading for a long time game just closes and kick me out to desktop. What can cause this problem and more importantly, how can I fix that?

Hey Ekaton,
I just went thru the same problem you are having and by the process of elimination I found it to be the Dynamic Environment Mod that was causing the problem.
I installed all the mods but the DE and related mods (3 I think) and I was able to load and start a campaign.
I was going to ask what might be causing the problem here at Subsim but I saw your post and thought I would give you a heads up.

If anyone else reading this can think of a reason that the DE mod might cause this I would appreciate your advice.

Yes, I followed all the instructions. I think the problem might be version of my game, I figured out that since none patch available is available for my version of game, it's patched to the latest version but when clicking SH5 icon it shows 1.0.5.0 - none of the patches work for me and I really don't know what to do now.

@Beerme - I tried without the DE mod but it's still not working.

First off all I would like to say thanks to Sober for the informative post and guides to his mod.

With that out of the way, I seem to be having an issue with the game and these mods. Every time I open the map, be it with the M key or the wheel icon, I get a CTD. *EDIT: I just checked the bunker save and when I ask about patrol orders I get a CTD.*

This is a new thing for me because the game and mods were working fine and nothing has changed except the CTDs. Occasionally if I remove my mods and re-enable, the game works. Though even that has stopped working now.

Would like some advice on how to fix this.

It's an Nvidia card issue.
Just remove bec_submarine.dds from the texture mod folder to fix it.

Ahoi,

thanks for this Modlist, a nice re-entry to SH5 to get an idea which Mods to use.
Sober's screenshoots and the activity in this forum made me to reinstall SH5 and i was deeply impressed while leaving Kiel habour at night with buoys at night and later on the Ostsee with 7-8BFT hearing the dark, cold sea. And after that night that beautyful sunset... great job modders!

Unfortunalety the game now runs unreliable due to the drunken navigator i got
on my boat (installation), must be a nephew from some important guy in BDU or something like that...

most time when i start the game: i get CTD when i open the map (Icon, from within the boat or by [M]-Key...). But when the map (nav) works 1st try, the game runs smooth like the soup from my cook the whole game-evening...
It's like atleast 3 of 4 times i start the game that the map is kicking me CTD, i have the 'feeling' that clearing the Ubisoft-Cache and restarting the computer increases the chance that my map-officier is not that drunk to CTD...

My Computer specs are similar like xSmithyx's: I7+Nvidia and 6GB-Ram (Win7/64bit).

Mod Load is 'sobers 0700 02042013.mep'.

Fresh install (made it a couple of times last days) updated to 1.20 (non-Steam) and patched/fixed thanks to TDW.... SH5 running in Offline mode.

I don't think that this Map-CTD-Problem is related to Mods or the EXE, it runs smooth when it started once - but for some guys it don't start smooth every start... (first act: hit M and hope not to CTD -> pleasue whole evening).

Maybe someone had similar problems and solved them or even was able to localize that CTD to something.
What i observed: when disabling OHII i didn't had that problem, so it could relate to 'only 6Gig'? - I tried OHII base instead of OHII_full - same problem...

(lol, maybe I should not shut down the game as soon it runs stable again, like now while iam writing, but should play OHII-Campaign in realtime the next days :cool: - have to talk about that to my wife and employer :salute:)
