A few things that I need you to look at .
While trying to open the Arctic_Convoys PJ file with the Mission Editor I get this error .
Data reference missing in mission layer PortTraffic_AC

The only problems I have now is the game says it cannot make sense of some categories in the rec manual .
You should see these messages only when starting mission editor, just press "OK" few times... If you see them in game , than it's probably due to enabled debugging scripts. You should turn them off, they are not needed for normal gameplay, only for diagnostic sessions...:yep:
I don't have the Z_Tweaks file , whatever that is . Do I need it ?
Those are bunch of my tweaks intended for twos and they can hardly be compatible with anything else...

I particularly want the new charts from Diereeperbahn and all of your charts lol . Only 50 charts is the problem . TDW hardcoded the file that increses the amount of charts . I definitely want part 5 because it is a tutorial that is needed , very important imo for players .

this is the one that sank or the other capital ship that was badly on fire as I was hiding in Kirk sound when I received the radio report about a abandoning ship .

Good planning not just good luck .
Aircraft for example . You need to know where the aircraft will most likely attack you . Its no use commanding a sub and not knowing where the hazards are .
Airbases have an approx. radius of 360 km . So I mark on my navmap the radiuses and you can see where the aircover overlaps . Some placed there are 3 air bases overlapping an area .
Do I need to go thru these areas ? Do I need to save fuel ? Do I need to travel on the surface only at night .

I found that the game doesnt like the REMOVE ogg files .
The game is choppy inside the sub .
Climbing down the ladder outside the conning tower always is a pain .
The dive animations are choppy .
Removed the REMOVE ogg files and much better .

I'll give it another shot tonight. I can't be going far wrong, its failing at the beginning.
Alright I am having some issues activating the mods using JSGME. I downloaded the Sober Silent Hunter 5 mega mod new version and extracted the download using 7zip. Once extracted I placed all the mods in the MODS folder in my silent hunter 5 directory. I then opened JSGME clicked task selected sobers all in one 06.14.2015.mep and JSGME gives this error message.
The following mods were not found:
DynEnv v2.9 - Wave Mechanics - Gale(Improved)
Small_trees_SH5_V1
EUF_UBoat_FX_V0_0_3-bythebeast
Manos Scopes - patch for 8x5
Load Aborted.
Is there something I am missing or is the download corrupted. I did download the file again and it is still giving me the same issue.

Also check that the folders you are putting into the MODS folder for enabling are the folder preceeding the data folder . Especially true for the New UI mod .
There might be quite a few updated mods you need to download .
Have you patched the game with the EXE patcher ?

This is what happens when you start the game with KSD and then you get a crash to desktop . Then thinking the game has stopped but its still running because I didn't notice the SH5 in the taskbar . Then I panicked and restarted the game from the ubilauncher and loaded a save .

Hi Sober!
The compressed air gauges work perfectly.
This is my version of battery gauges because the needles are too dark, I have tried changing the needle color, but I did not succeed so I've inverted the background color. I do not know if this change is historically correct, however this little mod is available.

:arrgh!:Loaded with your MOD soup I am returning to Lorient from my first patrol (Happy times) with barely three sinkings to my credit and to my surprise I have found a ship docked across the harbor entrance blocking it completely :huh:. I can end my patrol without docking but I am unable to continue with my next assignment because I can't go through this obstacle :/\\!!.
Is there a way around this? Any help will be appreciated.

Western Approaches does not start until 1st October 1941.
If you are trying to dock before that date then you will not see it to request it.

Not really, Peter. The screen captures were taken today after reloading previous saved games just for the purpose of illustrating the situation in the forum.
In my first attempt I ended the patrol without docking, just pressing the anchor button and selecting "end patrol" from the menu (I couldn't pass through that ship); but when I started the next one, I was inside the sub pen and I couldn't get out of port because of the ship blocking my exit.
After your post, the only thing I could think of was selecting "refit" from the menu (which leaves me in the same spot but with full load of torpedos and fuel), turn around and continue patrol. I do not know if later, when I return to Lorient in the right date, the entrance will be free or not. If it is not, my guess is that there must be a glitch in my modded game (may be a modded Lorient but with docked ships placed in an older unmodded version of the port or vice versa?)

JCLoad your bunker save and try it again . That's all I can suggest . I don't have the blocking boat in my current campaign .

Start new HT campaign using "silentotto" cheat and save the game while you're in the bunker. Copy CampaignMission.mis file (10 MB or so) and paste/overwrite it to an equivalent location in your problematic Lorient bunker gamesave...

Hi guys,
Nothing seems to be working for me. Sober, after installing your MOD I start at the bunker and select a new patrol and the blocking ship is still there. I must be doing something wrong or have a flawed MOD installation.
I'm going to start a new career, but first I'm going to try uninstalling MODS a few at a time and see if I can detect the culprit.

Alright, came back to SH5 after a few years, with a fresh install of SH5 1.2 German. Installed the whole enchilada of mods as per instructions and verified the installation. I cannot skip the tutorial on the first mission so did the silentotto thing to start in 1940. Now the sub contols like compass, speed settings, etc don't show up, and neither does the auto harbor plot, giving me a bit of trouble to leave port. Or do anything at all for that matter. Not sure what is going on but I have come this far and don't give up that easily. Any ideas?

Go to MyDocuments\SH5\data\cfg\CareerHistory and change false to true . Now you can skip the tutorial . Remember when your career loads and you are in the bunker to return to the main page and click on continue career , this is the only time you have to load the game twice while in the bunker . Click on C to bring up the compass while on the sub .

No, the patcher is not rerun unless their is a new snapshot for it.
Just add the mods when docked.
The important thing to look out for is whether you need to to start a new career.

Hi sober
In TWOS going into Scapa using the Western entrance and the right channel I hit a mine in medium fog that the watch crew did not see.
The next time I was watching out for it as I knew the crew would not see it.
I had to cheat to get a medium fog otherwise the coastal batteries would have picked me off.
There were some hair raising moments when the searchlights almost seem to pick me out and then move past me.
Needed also be at decks awash and slow so as not to create a high bow wash.
I was able to miss the mine this time by a couple of metres.
The distance between the shore and the island is quite narrow and shallow as well.
The coastal batteries can create a tense atmosphere and port raiding is no longer easy pickings.

Hardcore !:DI remember that . I just redid the mod from scratch . Some harbors have working lighthouse lights , some dont . I started a few careers leaving from different ports and no problems so far . I am using sobers smoke screen V1 SH5 . I am not using sobers smoke screen V1 SH5 (DynEnv compatible) atm because i have Environment 15 MOD installed atm .

I am also using maximum TC = 1 and it's great.
Also i don't use sonar to ping depth under keel, i have to estimate it for my self using maps. And i have removed those warning icons that tell me when i am in a shallow waters or near the bottom, i think that's cheating.

Hello Sober, can you tell me if there is any easy way to remove just the tooltips from your mod, "sobers green crew training V4 SH5"? Would be good to not have the character name and % trained pop up every time your cursor is in the vicinity of that crewmember, because I'm sure we all remember who they are by now and their training status can be accessed in the crew page...although I must say that this feature would be handy in RL for those embarrassing moments when you have one of those memory blocks and can't think of a person's name that you really should have remembered..:oops:

Would be good to not have the character name and % trained pop up every time your cursor is in the vicinity of that crewmember, because I'm sure we all remember who they are by now and their training status can be accessed in the crew page...although I must say that this feature would be handy in RL for those embarrassing moments when you have one of those memory blocks and can't think of a person's name that you really should have remembered..:oops: The Silent Hunter 5\data\Menu\Pages would need to be edited either by notepad or the ingame menu editor .

Looks like a great patch/mod, but I don't know for sure because when I install the patches I want, the game won't start and hangs in my services/processes, I have to use the uplay file validating service to correct the problem, which uninstalls the patches I previously installed...Such a pity Ubisoft haven't fixed this game, scandalous really after all the money I and others have paid.

Assuming that you have followed sober's installation instructions correctly?
Check that your gpu is using up to date drivers.
You need to check your gpu settings.
Go to the AMD Catalyst Control Center.
Check that the 'Image Scaling' is set to GPU.
Choose 'Maintain aspect ratio' or 'Scale image to full panel size'.
Apply the new settings.
If you are still having a problem then you need to go back over how you set up sober's mega mod as something will not have been done, or done incorrectly.

No1 is version 04 as described in the change log (broken link)
I can upload it for you from my mod store if you wish to use this version.
No2 is a lighter version
No3 is for the TWOS mega mod but can be used.

Yes, I can be kept quite busy at times with PM's on both SH3 and 5.
Mod lists not as bad now as they were before TWOS when sorting out mod orders and missing and incorrect mods was very time consuming.
I never put a time limit on anyone who needs help as everyone has a different learning curve.

I think you are giving yourself a hard time with this.
You are showing an installation problem whether this after I have given you my changes or before I do not know.
sober has good YouTube tutorials regarding the Generic Patcher and although his mod instructions are a bit more complicated than TWOS I understand that if English is not a players native language then this can as I am observing why I am kept constantly busy.
With the mega mods like sobsers and TWOS these are set up to play at 100% realism to give the maximum amount of immersion.
This becomes a major problem for those who want all the mods but not the difficulty levels that go with it.
The environmental mod that sober uses I have never used.
TWOS uses Dynamic Environments v2.9 which has a large number of different environments to choose from if you do not like the default ones used.

As I said previously I am not here to disrespect sober's mega mod by promoting in this case TWOS but I think you will find the instructions easier to follow and if afterwards you have issues that you would like to discuss then you know where I am.
Having two different SH5 mega mods using the same UI is good as it gives players an alternative rather than having all your eggs in one basket.
You also have the mega mod Wolves Of The Deep by Sjizzle that uses a different UI so you could also have a look at that as an option.
If you wish to continue with sober's mega mod then I suggest we move this discussion to a PM rather than taking up space here and I will continue to do my best for you.

Apart from those 3 links not working the rest of your mega mod should not be a problem if there are no inherent problems there already, which I assume there are not otherwise you would have fixed them by now.
Your mega mod will be perpetually in motion for anyone to use as it stands, no further updates being added.
It has already stood the test of time and been improved upon over the years.
There is no reason why it should disintegrate as time goes on, I will keep an eye out for any missing links and open up a new section in my tutorial to include these and add any necessary information as it arises.
Myself and others should be able to answer any questions that arise on your thread.

New way to start the game .
Enable all the mods with the mod enabler .
Enable the EXE patcher and patches .
Watch the prestart campaign video on how to adjust the SH5 main cfg folder .
Start the game and while on the campaign selection screen type "silentotto"
Click on a campaign that you want to play and click on start to enter the bunker .
While in the bunker press the keyboard Esc key and go back to the main menu .
Clock on continue campaign .
When back in bunker again press the keyboard Esc key and go to the main menu and adjust your in game options such as gameplay settings .
Click on back and then resume your career .
This is to be played as seperate campaigns . This is to simulate new crew and you get a lot of points for sinking ships to enable you to build up there skills .

Just a heads up on the starting of sobers mega mod . I modded some campaign files for sobers mega mod and now to start my campaign you enable the mega mod with the mod enabler without playing the tutorial first . Now when you click on silentotto it makes all the campaigns selectable on the campaign selection page . I changed IsStartingCampaign=true to IsStartingCampaign=false for TotalGermany .
Then in TotalGermany PJ file and deleted the Tutorial layer 4 . Now has 34 layers and adjusted the layer numbers accordingly for the other layers .
Then in all the campaign cfg files in adjusted to read .

Now if you are a noob and want to play the first campaign for the first time , all you do is watch the tutorial animation and go talk to Captain Rahn . Hit Esc key when finished and you are in the bunker . No need to hit Esc key to reload the campaign as the equipment upgrades are available as soon as you enter the bunker the first time .

Hey guys... Been lurking a long while, first time surfacing for a post, but I just can't figure out what's going wrong...
I've run a mod or two before, but never anything as ambitious as Sober's Mega Mod list. I followed every instruction to the letter, even started with a clean install of the game via Uplay. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to start playing, because once I start a new campaign, I'm stuck on the dock. Everything seems to have loaded properly as far as I can tell, but I'm literally stuck in place and cannot walk. Hotkeys seem to be working (log, radio messages, chart display options, etc.), and I'm able to look around, but can't get to the officer to start my briefing.
Has anyone run into this before? Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm hoping it's something obvious that I just overlooked...
Thanks for any advice.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that when I try to quit to the menu or to windows, the end-of-patrol screen that typically shows up is blank... no words at all, no way to accept the results and quit the game. I have to force-close from Windows Task Manager.

Yes, I am using the one titled "sobers 1421 23012017". I verified that the load order is as listed in this thread. There were two mods that did not get activated, but were not on the mega-mod list. I believe they were packed alongside other required mods.

If it helps, I'm running a GTX 1070 and my DX appears to be passing validation without issue.

Well, I started over from scratch and followed the tutorials in your signature as best I could. I also noticed while installing the mods that some folders were nested deeper than others ([modname]/[modname]/data vs. [modname]/data). I nested everything the same so that the data folder is no longer a sub-folder within.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure which of these things fixed the ambulation problem, but now I've got different issues. For one, I do not have the shaft controls visible. Secondly, once I set a speed, I can no longer stop. Even if I set full-back, it only slows me down. If I set all-stop, it sets my speed at whatever my first bell was.

The game must have Direct x 9.0 that came with SH5.
If it is the problem can be found in my downloads section.
As a bet and braces job, check each mod and make sure you can see the Data folder.

Thanks theberbester I have tried this one. I have the bonus mods and this mep you linked is tottaly off tons of mods missing. The mep file came with the bonus mod misses just 3 mods.
Is it a too big request that the mep file coming with the bonus mod would actually list the mods it came with.
Howevwer I have deleted the missing mods from the bonus mep and it solved the problem but I have tons of mod in JGSME which is not activated.
I am totally upset. Donated money to have this mega mod, and now my game is srewed up...

The problem you have with a mep file full of mods is the mods have to already exist in JSGME either enabled or disabled.
The mep files job is to enable all of those mods found in it.
They are your game mods you play with.
From what you are saying it would seem that something has gone wrong in your mega mod download.
Check sobers posts from #1 and make sure you have not missed anything.

I have completed the task based on your 1421 23012017 set of mods which I hope will meet with your approval.
The zip file download contains everything you basically need to get all of the installation process completed easily.
I have included 2 sets of identical installation instructions, a Word document and a text file, which should be self-explanatory.

Another interesting feature is by copying and pasting the extracted Mods folder to the main game folder sets all 86 mods automatically in JSGME ready for the mep file to be used.
The mep file has been tested in both directions without any problems,
