I was thinking of a possible DLC for Skyrim, The Return to Morrowind.
Bear me out, I wager that when the Red Mountain went up it went up like Krakatoa, thus all the areas around the mountain would be vaporised, however places further out on the Azure coast and Solestheim would be primarily buried under ash with some blast damage. There would probably be a new volcano formed in the ruins of Red Mountain, just as Anak Krakatoa lies where Krakatoa exploded.
http://www.nomad4ever.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/Google_Earth_Map_of_Krakatoa,_Pulau_Krakatau.jpg
The quest line could start as an archeological dig in the ruins of...I dunno...Balmora, and go on from there, featuring the in-fighting of House Haalu and Telvanni and so forth, and perhaps feature something dark lurking in the ruins of the Red Mountain.
Just an idea thrown out there, I would enjoy playing through such a storyline anyway. :yep:
Vvardenfell is still there, it's just covered in ash and is very inhospitable. Where Vivec City was is nothing but a boiling impact crater from when the Ministry of Truth hit called the Scathing Bay. They talk about it a bit in the books (Infernal City and Lord of Souls - both worth the read)
I'd like to see Ald'Ruhn. Mike Kirkbride said that the Daedra attacked the city during the Oblivion crisis and the Dunmer used a spell to bring the giant crab buildings back to life to fight the Daedra. Yes, I'm very serious.

Got my first Dragon killcam-animation today. I thought I'd already died when the camera shifted to external, and then all of a sudden my guy jumped on top of the Dragon's head and started hacking away. :yeah:
Note the camouflage, especially designed to work while mounting Dragons!

If anyone's inclined, try out this smithing perk overhaul ive been working on.
http://www.gamefront.com/files/21459653/z_My_SmithOverhaul_esp
I think you'll like it. It gets rid of some annoyances in perk selection without making it overpowered. (For example, Steel plate armor being over on the light armored side) Disable any mod that changes smithing perks first.
Modesty aside, i think what i did with this is a stoke of genius.

Still thinking that one of the DLCs will be an anti-Thalmor campaign. Dialogue from Ulfric and Tullius at the end of each side of the Civil War campaign would seem to be foreshadowing.
Regarding the dragon kill camera, the battleaxe and warhammer animations are so much better than the swords.

Oh yeah I am keeping my fingers crossed for that. :woot:

I've gotten two killcams with dragons this week, both in very close succession. And I was using Dragonbane both times and yeah, I remember the killcams with a warhammer (oh how I miss that BF Daedric one I had) and I don't think the 1H sword ones, at least, are anywhere near as fun.
Got one on the first Whiterun dragon once, pretty sure I was using a 2H axe because it was the one the Jarl had just given me and I was playing a 2H combat character then. Also better than the 1H sword.
In other news I've just joined the Nightingales and gotten the cool armor. Plus I have a Nightingale Blade and Chillrend. Thinking of going dual wield with those when we meet to go after Mercer, or maybe just Chillrend with a shield. Seems fitting that he should be killed with Chillrend if at all possible. Also need to find a mod that allows tempering of the Nightingale Blade as this doesn't seem to be possible without one. :nope:

It is a bit of a trade-off, though. While one-handed kills on dragons are kind of lousy, the one-handed kill cam moves on NPC humanoids are so much better than the two-handed ones.

Yeah, very true. Altho I did get a lot of decap killcams with the warhammer, but probably because I'd taken the perk for decap. Those were pretty awesome, though, especially the first one because I wasn't expecting to see myself take some guy's head RIGHT OFF like that. :arrgh!:
And now some pics from more recent adventures:

Esbern, master of overkill. "A Storm Atronach? Really? For a lone cave bear?" "Er... uh... I'm sorry, you'll have to speak up. I'm a little deaf in that ear."
http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/9118/personalspacet.jpg
Why, yes, I would like to talk to Marcurio. And the three words I'd like to say are, in this order, "dude," "personal," and "space."
So anyway on to more current events, took off from Whiterun for Irkmesomething, whatever it's called where we have to get Mercer Frey. Don't even get as far as the Whitewatch Tower when, I'm telling you, with this dragon it was like I was running up an airport runway and then suddenly realized a jet was coming directly at me and taking off right over my head. This thing seemed to just rise up right in front of me already in flight and went right over and then started circling around over the city but it didn't register as hostile or attack. Did this for, like, five minutes while I tried to lure it into attacking me but it wouldn't. I mean, I gave up on sneaking and was running around waving my sword and shouting at it when it flew over my head and, nothing.
Finally it takes off north and we run after it, see it land and start ravaging the guards at the watchtower. Before I get close enough to do anything, it takes off again and lands a little way off and starts attacking something or someone else farther out on the plain that I can't see at all. Oh, did I mention there was a giant coming up behind us on the road north out of Whiterun? Not a stupid dragon, I guess, didn't want to risk taking on one of those guys if he landed that close to where I was.
Anyway we're running up towards the dragon that is going at it with whatever evening snack it found on the plain, I shout at it once to get its attention away from whoever/whatever it's attacking, because it's clearly winning that battle. Marcurio is already blasting it from a distance, you know, the way he does, and yelling "THIS ENDS NOW!" It's so cute when he does that. But then in the flurry of magic being flung around I realize *I'm* taking damage and it's not from the dragon, who is not paying any attention to me at all, or accidentally from Marcurio who is between me and everybody else and is now blasting both the dragon and whatever else is over in that direction.
Anyway I run up to the dragon's flank and get about one good hit in after which it does its little deathflop, crackle crackle burn burn soul absorbed wahoo. So then I go looking around to see who would be DUMB ENOUGH to worry about attacking me when they are being assaulted by what must've been a very hungry dragon, I mean I saw him chewing up several Whiterun guards back at the tower and you know how meaty those guys are. And what do you think I find...

That'll do, pig. That'll do. :O:
I almost felt bad about killing him after finding out that he passed up a chance to eat the Dovahkiin in order to chow down on Thalmor instead. :haha:
And oh yeah we got Mercer, I killed him with Chillrend just like I hoped and if he hadn't been so intent on monologuing like a comic book villain before starting the fight he could've saved himself being FusRoDah-ed off that ledge he was perched on. I'm not sure it did much damage to him but it felt real good. So I got all the Nightingale stuff, the armor is cool and with my smithing levels plus enchanted gear plus a potion I was able to make it pretty darn good. Not as good as my dragonscale but I really like it, especially for the Muffle enchant on the boots. I know I had that last time but I can't remember where I got it, I was able to enchant stuff with that myself so I know I learned the enchantment from something I came across somewhere. Maybe I was able to use something I looted from the DB Sanctuary when I destroyed them. Nothing I've picked up there as a member will let me do a disenchant on it. :stare:
So I may give Marcurio the dragonscale if I can make another helmet and gauntlets cuz the ones I was using have enchants on them that won't really mean much for him. It will make things a little more interesting if I'm wearing armor with a little *less* of an overall armor rating now that I've leveled up a bit and most of my weapons are really heavy-duty as far as the damage they dish out. Also, did I mention how COOL the Nightingale set looks? :D
Random observation: it would be really nice if I could harvest Juniper Berries from a juniper bush WITHOUT getting poked in the eye with a branch, because OW.
Blackberries are always fun, you can get about five before you inevitably miss and hit a thorn.
My current task has been heading for err, that place with the Wall of Alduin. Loved the little puzzles inside although I wanted the bad tiles to collapse into a bottomless pit instead of triggering flames. Then perhaps have smaller tiles with words on them so I had to jump to spell out Dovakhin.
"But in the Blades language, Dovakhin is spelt with an I...oh dear..."
:03:
Lucasfilms aside, I got to the big opening that requires the blood letting, and the game locked up. I have a nasty suspicion that it's related to the mods I grabbed, mainly Jaysus Swords, Sounds of Skyrim and the better people textures, I also grabbed SkyUI but that requires the Script extender, and the website for that was down...so that's another potential problem causer. When I get time in between sleeping and working I will have a proper look, hopefully it's just a random lock-up. Thank God for Win7s three finger salute function, I imagine XP would have just completely locked up.
Had to chuckle to myself though, on the way into the Wall myself, Captain Overkill and Blades girl (it's nearly five am, I'm fuzzy with names on a good day, let alone when I'm half asleep)...Delphine I think. First up was to clear out the Forsworn, and then whilst battling them a couple of Hagravens showed up, and then a Blood Dragon joined the party as well.
It was absolute bloody chaos, I had to be careful not to blue on blue.
I know what you mean about the surprise Dragon attacks though, I had one jump me out in the wilds...I was just walking along as peaceful as can be when a dragon shaped shadow moved across the ground in front of me, I turned around and there he was. Needless to say, Hammertime. :yep:

I got a surprise like that taking the shortcut up the hill from Whiterun to Riverwood, IIRC, couldn't be arsed to go around on the road so I just cut straight up behind the farms. Was running full bore and ran head on into a... first a wolf, then a sabrecat, I think, or a bear, anyway one of the nastier critters. Killed both of those in turn and I'm standing there getting ready to take the pelt off the cat when I hear a big *thump* behind me and the ground shakes a little. And I think, geez, what is it NOW, a freakin' mammoth? Turn around and... oh, hello there, Mr. Dragon. How nice of you to drop in with absolutely NO WARNING. :O:

Indeed it's hard to imagine how a creature the size of a dragon would be able to surprise you, but it just happens. I just had a pretty similar experience to that of Frau's, only that I came out of a cave. I ran maybe 20 meters and heard a *THUMP*, turned around and saw an Elder Dragon scorching Lydia :D

Much to my delight I am still finding many amusements in Skyrim that I didn't notice or that just didn't happen on my last playthrough. I was back in Whiterun sorting out my loot, preparing to do some major smithing upgrades and other crafting and running full bore back and forth from Breezehome to one vendor after another. Now I used to get a lot of "watch what you're doing!" and "what are you doing that for?" but I've long since learned how to dodge whatever static obstacles there might be to my high speed progress around the city, so I no longer run through piles of firewood or bang my head on the sign hanging outside Warmaidens. So I haven't gotten any comments on my crazy running around for a while.
But yesterday I passed Vignar Grey-Mane in the street and as I was running by to wherever I was going I hear "12 septims on the girl... look at that speed!" :haha:

Okay I found a mod that lets me upgrade the Nightingale Blade (as well adding some nice tweaks to the armor enchantments), but apparently the Ebony smithing perk doesn't apply to it - which it should as it apparently applies to the Bow. Anybody know of a mod that fixes this? So far I can't find anything at Nexus that addresses this issue in particular. :hmmm:
Sucks because I'd really like to keep it on hand but the damage rating is so low compared to everything else I've got, it seems like a waste of Carry Weight space no matter how good it looks.
Also there's apparently no sheath for Chillrend when you have it equipped?

I've done Skyhaven twice, both with SkyUI enabled. The only problem I ever had with SkyUI was if I forgot to update SKSE and all I got then was a popup the first time I opened an items/powers menu, saying that I might lose some of SkyUI's functionality if I didn't get the latest version of SKSE.
Of course I always got the latest version right away so I don't know what effect not doing so would have on any quests, but I wouldn't think it would cause a particular quest to lock up like that if everything else is working fine.
On a side note I'm getting ready to download the 1.5 patch and just got the new version of SKSE for that and had no problems with the website. I can imagine they got hit hard when everybody who got the patch on release went there to look for an update on SKSE as well. Seems to be fine now, though.

When it's equipped but not drawn, if I go to 3rd person view it's hanging at my waist like any other sword when I equip it... but there's no sheath, just the naked sword. I wondered too about the design of the sword, although I think it's shaped the same as a glass sword, do those have sheathes? I didn't use one long enough to notice.

I've gotten quite a few archery killcams this evening after getting the new patch, a couple were pretty awesome. Just took out a Dwarven Centurion Master in three shots, went into the final chamber of Mzinchaleft and he was standing in the charging station. Kind of assumed he would wake up when I started poking around in there so... :arrgh!:
I've got the archery perks that give me a slo-mo zoom and I used that and as I took the third shot it switched to killcam and I got a third person view of me crouched down in sneak mode releasing the arrow, then it went to the DCM as the arrow hit and the cam did like a circle around him as he was falling forward, it was actually quite cinematic and pretty damn awesome. Granted they are very cool looking and seeing one go down in slow motion like that sure beats watching some icky Falmer fall over backwards.
Trying to figure out how to get Marcurio to follow me down into Blackreach since I've just found and opened the passage from Mzinchaleft into there, will save me a trek overland to Alftand which I was on my way to do anyway. Only got about six pounds to spare in my backpack so all I want to do is get in there, get to the Tower, transcribe Crazy Wizard Dude's magic cube, get the Scroll, and get the hell out of Dodge. But apparently followers don't like to follow down that stairwell, don't know if it's a navmesh issue or what, it's like he's trying to follow and he gets to one spot and just turns around and takes off trying to get to my location from another direction. I suppose I could just head on down to Blackreach and see how long it takes him to show up there. In theory there'd be no way for him to get in as the only access point open is the one I'm using. :hmmm:

Lol, no, I tried that for about five minutes and he would still get stuck. I could've shouted him over the ledge I guess but that seemed kinda harsh. :O:
I checked the wiki and there's a problem with several followers not being able to navigate that location. I actually had trouble getting around and down the steps myself, it's a very narrow passage with close sharp turns and if I didn't have the crosshairs pointed just right the PC wouldn't move smoothly through the passage either. Lots of little lock-ups and lags and stumbles. Very annoying.
Was prepared with the console command to just move him to my location if all else failed, but finally I tried one last time and he suddenly popped up at the bottom of the stairs. Very odd. But then wouldn't you know he kept getting stuck trying to get through Blackreacch to the tower where the Scroll is, so I ended up just using the console command anyway when it was clear he just wasn't gonna follow my lead. The first time through I went off the path to sneak around a giant and he wouldn't leave the path and ran right towards the giant to get to where I had gone and we ended up having to fight the giant. And I wanted to get the Scroll and get out with as little fuss as possible. :stare:
The straightest shot from one place to another was something I could navigate but apparently he couldn't, and I wasn't gonna spend a lot of time bopping around down there trying to find a path he could follow. Yay console commands! I didn't want him taking the long way around to avoid some little bump in the landscape and end up in a fight with a bunch of Falmer.
I remember with the last character we did a long exploration of Blackreach together when we went back the second time and he had problems with some areas then as well. Most areas were fine, but some he just couldn't get through, even though it wasn't a climb up or jump down, I'd always lose him and then he'd come running up from some completely different direction. :hmmm:
Oh, and today's bit of follower amusement... cleared out a native camp in the Reach, and he's running around doing the ranged magic thing as usual, when it's over I'm standing there with dead bodies all around and he runs up through the human debris, stops, and says:
"These Forsworn don't even have the decency to dress right."

So I finished the MQ with my current character, finished Thieves Guild (except for taking the approx 1 gazillion additional side jobs that will apparently fill out the shelves behind my desk with the remaining trophies of our new ascendancy, which, I dunno, it irritates me when Delvin and Vex greet me as Glorious Leader and then get a big ugly 'tude when I walk away without asking for work, I'm the boss now, I should be telling them what to do, ya dig, so I may not go back there... I already dumped a bunch of gold in all the communal chests so I figure I've done my part) and I'm up to the place in the DB storyline where I need to start working on the whole thing about impersonating the Gourmet.
Anyway what that means is that I've got Shadowmere now, and I was expecting that if I got off of him he would just walk along behind me like another follower, but... he doesn't. Is that how it works? He's just gonna stay where he is unless I'm actually riding him? Bummer. I thought he would be more useful than a regular horse in that sense, and I don't really want to ride everywhere. Altho I will say that getting off of him on the way back from Dawnstar and then watching while he killed both the ice wraith and the spider that were waiting on the side of the road up ahead was pretty cool.
Got him parked down at the Whiterun stables at the moment, I don't know what else to do with him if I have to ride him to take him anywhere.
I guess I will finish out the DB stuff and then maybe follow up on my plan to join the Legion this time around. To make it more interesting (I'm at level 50+ now with pretty awesome armor/weapons, so... yeah) I may decide to play through the CW storyline wearing whatever stuff the Legion sees fit to give me, improved and probably enchanted of course but still... definitely gonna be a step down from the Nightingale and Dragonscale I've been using.
It's kind of a lose-lose with the MQ, once I finish it everything that comes after it feels anticlimactic - haven't even loaded the game since this weekend, so my character's still sleeping off the post-Sovngarde woozies in High Hrothgar - which kinda takes the edge off my desire to finish out other stuff with the same character. But if I do all the other stuff I want to do before finishing the MQ, then the final battles with Alduin seem a little too easy because I've leveled up so high. :hmmm:

Hmm... I'm not sure if that's WAD then because in my game he follows me everywhere... Hate it because he always gets in the way.
Well maybe I just didn't get far enough away that he started following, I don't know. The last horse I had I took from the stable in an Imperial fort that I helped capture, so I was never sure if he counted as "owned" or just "borrowed." Probably the latter but whenever I got off him anywhere he would just turn around and wander off in some other direction, probably going back to the place where I first got on him. If I wanted him to stick around I'd have to chase him down and then ride him some more.
Anyway it made me leery of just getting off a horse and going about my business and assuming he was tagging along behind or at least staying put. Shadowmere did stay put outside the Dawnstar Sanctuary when I went in, so there's that. I suppose I could take him down the road from Whiterun a bit and then get off and start running back to see what he does. If he does actually follow me without being ridden, that would be awesome.

I had a strange sdymptom tonight, after having installed the latest patch 1.5 c or what it was called. When game time poassed into night, the sky still was ghostly white, no stars, just one of the moons was there. It then seems to stay like that even after morning and day had broken. Its not rightout white like a sheet of paper, but somewhat milky, misty. Also, no clouds. Seems I lost the sky textures somehow?!
No mods in use over here, no texture replacements and light-darkness mods. Just the official HighRes pack, which worked okay until today.

Might try verifying game cache. Right-click it in Steam library, 'properties' and then under 'local files'. Something can go screwy when patching.

The kill cams for magic are slightly annoying but anyways...
So my uber mage I played the entire main quest, and college and lots of side quests with only cloth, robes, etc a 'typical' mage if you will..... I have finally broke the ebony mail is just too sinister and i'm tired of missing out on the evil looking priest masks.... why do they count as armor I just don't get it.
Rant over. On a side note, this is good news.
"Look familiar? The new kill cams were featured as a concept in the Game Jam sizzle shown during Todd Howard's DICE keynote (http://www.bethblog.com/2012/02/08/watch-todd-howards-dice-keynote-live-on-gamespot/). We plan on adding even more features with upcoming free updates and game add-on content."
:hmmm: I hope at least some of that 'April Fools' joke is true, using weapons, spells and shouts whilst on mounts would be a good addition, likewise a first person camera. I'm not that fussed about Dragon riding, whilst it would be cool at first it would probably get old eventually, but not having to dismount while a wolf is eating your ankles is a bit of a necessity if you're going to have ridable horses in the game.

Seems like I read that same "leak" weeks ago and it was pretty thoroughly debunked at the time on either the UESP or Beth forums. :hmmm:
Dragon mounts in particular seem like a really farfetched idea, unless they're only going to be ridable in/over a completely open landscape. That eliminates all of Skyrim's major cities. Even if you could fly a dragon directly into the city, where you gonna park it? :haha: You'd still have to land outside and schlep up to the gates to load the cell and get inside.
Also, given that even with the timescale set to a more realistic level you can still get from one end of the playable world in a pretty short time just on foot, being able to ride a dragon would be a bit of overkill when it comes to transportation IMO. Unless they're going to add a bunch more places that are otherwise inaccessible, like Skuldafn. Yeah just flying around on a dragon would be cool if it actually happened in real time and you could see the world via that experience but they didn't even bother with that for the one experience you get in the original game. "See the world as only a Dovah can" my @$$. :stare: :O:
In other news I haven't even loaded the game since completing the MQ with my current character 10 *DAYS* ago. My plan was to go back in and finish up the DB stuff and then join the Legion and play out the Civil War and roleplay it where I saw the opportunity to kill the Emperor as a way to clear the path to power for myself, and then I could coast right on to total conquest by becoming known not only as the Dovahkiin and slayer of Alduin but also as the hero who crushed the rebellion thus gaining the support of the common peeps and the military and then it's on to the Imperial City WOOT!
But now... I don't know. I suppose I will because it's doubtful I'll follow those questlines any time soon with another character. Because I've come to the conclusion that I don't really like playing the type of character that makes those choices. I started out to play a more amoral stealth based character and I realize... I just don't enjoy that. The longer I played, the more I gravitated to melee weapons (altho I did make myself stick with 1H all the way) when possible and only using stealth and/or a little magic when absolutely necessary to get a particular thing done. In short, I want my in-your-face heavy-armor-wearing BFWarhammer-carrying Nord warrior back. :wah:

I've been working on my own version of a "basement" in whiterun, only with a slightly different twist then the standard (and even epic) housing mods. I think you guys will like it, though i somehow doubt anyone here will even look at it unless i shove it up on the nexus.

This must be why so many player-home mods add a bunch of them and then they NEVER seem to work right. Always a disappointment, I remember getting the Dovahkiin Hideout mod and looking wide-eyed at all the shelves and then realizing that 2/3rds of them didn't really function as bookshelves unless you wanted to drop your books and then pick them up and manually put them there.

If it's something that can be set up to work with JSGME, I wouldn't mind giving it a look depending on what it adds. I found a nice little mod for Breezehome that really improved the stock interior but it didn't really add much in the way of extras except an enchanting table, and it didn't do a very good job of that. And one bookshelf in the loft which I promptly disabled/deleted because the positioning was so awkward and I wanted mannequins there and this character never collected books anyway.
My big complaints with Breezehome are the firepit in the center of the room right in front of the only entrance, the last step up to the second floor that it's impossible NOT to trip over, and the lack of an enchanting table. More working bookshelves and weapons/armor storage space would be nice but obviously that requires some kind of add-on to the stock interior and I still haven't found one I really like, much less one that also fixes the other stuff mentioned above. Oh and one that keeps Lydia the hell out of my bedroom until she either dies or I can leave her in Skyhaven Temple to rot with the rest of what's left of the Blades. Altho one of my follower mods might fix the Lydia issue, I can't be sure. She died so soon this time around I never really had a chance to find out. :haha:

I have FIVE, 3 shelf bookshelves working, each shelf holding 15 books. It took me while, with a few tutuorials on youtube, (one of which, the guy didn't do it right), and i ended up following the tutorial on the creationkit wiki.
Long story? Each book has a marker. Each marker has to be referenced to a container object. There's two triggers. One lets you access the container to read/place books. The other allows you to access the shelf like a chest. Both triggers are referenced to the container object. Then you have to add collesion cubes, Each has to be sized correctly but the gist is you have to totally encapsulate each bookshelf so that the books have no where to go.
This is just one shelf. Do it right, clone it for the 3 remaining shelves, then clone your "complete" bookshelf. I tested this throughly with FusRodah (no pun intended), i even redid this part from scratch when i discovered i used the wrong collesion detection.
If it's something that can be set up to work with JSGME, I wouldn't mind giving it a look depending on what it adds.
All my skyrim mods are in JSGME. :O: I even made a smithing one, that lets you melt down weapons into ingots.

Most of your house mods are "my first mods" on breezehome. They either redecorate it, or add a basement. For good reason, its the most lackluster house, the first one you get, but the most important thing, is whiterun is centrally located.
The thing about this "basement" im doing, is it's not really a basement at all, though it is underground. It will eventually be named something like "Whiterun Underground". The entrance? I haven't tied it into the game world yet, but i'll tell you where it will be. Fast travel to whiterun. Don't move foward. Immediately look to your right. You'll see a an arch/walkway thats part of the city wall. Walk to it. While in this overhang, look to your right again, and you'll see a out of the way little corner that's hidden from view with just one barrel there. The entrance will be there.
What this will mean is that this "home" will use the existing whiterun fast travel marker. It's right there. Also allows you quick access to the vender/blacksmith. Ive been desging this for logisitcs, practicality, functionality, and atmosphere. It will look and sound like your underground.

Oh man I think I've only had Disarm work on me with one guy, oddly enough once I get to a certain level it seems like they shout a lot of stuff where nothing happens. But the Disarm that actually disarmed me... yikes. I can't remember what weapon I had but it was a really nice high-end one of my own making and I was so used to being FusRoDahed and getting flung around... so when he shouted me and that didn't happen I was like "Har, sucks to be you, Draugr" and then I noticed that I was all of a sudden holding nothing but the sad little Dwarven dagger I'd looted out of a chest moments before and I was like... oh crap.
About that time I also got the dagger shouted out of my hand and that's when I decided that discretion was, in fact, the better part of valor.

I've thought about it, and i've decided i'm just not going to be releasing any mods to skyrim nexus, steam workshop, or anywhere else. These mods really aren't that big a deal. Lots of people out there, doing the exact same crap i'm doing, so i'm just not gonna be another "me too" modder. Whatever i can come up with, someone already has i'm sure.
I will post them here though, cause then i don't have to write up documentation, post screenshots, and all that other stuff i dislike doing. Though i'll give a breif explanation of what they do. (link at bottom of this post) Use them singly if you like, or together, or not at all. I made them for myself. I use mainly my own mods, because for some reason, i still have a hard time trusting other people not to screw things up. Which is the reason i got into modding SH3 and SH4. :shifty:
Root directory of this download:
A bunch of txt files. These are batch files. Ever want to start a character, but dislike the racial starting statistics? Use these. Using is simple
After creating your chracter and escaping the dragon in helgen, the instant your inside after having followed Hadvar or Ralof, save the game, then bring down the console and type in:
bat (whichever txt file here)
Example:
bat bretonarcher
What this will do is reset their bonus stats to 15 (default for no bonus skill) and raise archer like skills to 20. I've made each batch file to be in line with standard starting skill bonuses. Nothing overpowered. Examine the files, you'll see exactly what they do.

// New Armor recipies
- Skyforge Ancient nord light and heavy armors recipies. Standard ancient nord the Drauger use is unchanged. It bugged me to no end that your reward for completing the companions questline was a recpies for obsolete armor. As armor rating goes, the heavy is equivlant to orcish , and light equivlant to glass. The weight is unchanged, so heavy ancient nord is an improvement over orcish in that it's lighter.
- Trailer Dragonborn armor pieces, (accessible in wardens chest at start of game in helgen). Yeah you could use the existing iron pieces, however, these ones are LIGHT armored. So you can wear all light armor and look like the dude in the trailer. Also a light armored banded shield.
- Additional steel light armor accessible to steel smithing perk. (steel chainmail that guard models use, not plate. It bugged me that light armor selection was limited)
//smithing tree/perks
-increased smithing improvment rate by 50%. changed skill use mult from 1.0 to 1.5
- added missing armor/weapon materials to steel smtihing. (iron, wood, banded, etc)
- Steel smithing renamed to "basic smithing"
- Dwarven armor allows tempering of honed drauger/falmer weapons
- renamed "advanced armor" to Nord Armors since all the armor that perk gives is nord cultural items.
// Smelting
- Can smelt standard melee weapons for ingots. except dwarven.
// Arrow smithing.
Can craft all arrows. Including nord Hero arrows at the skyforge. Their equivlant to daedric arrows.
Note: I'd recommend running this in tandem with this mod:

z_MY_House_Whiterun.esp
Previously posted "Whiterun underground" with an extra lighting tweak near the bookshelves. I really made this for convenience and logistics. I got sick of using player houses and finding something wrong with them all the time. Also i dislike housing mods that put huge things into the game world in terms of the landscape, or break immersion. This mod reflects that. High on practicality, low on impact. This also allows you to have a house in whiterun without starting the main quest.
z_My_FasterTwohand.esp
//Items
- Greatsword speed set to 0.9 ( Compared to 1handed sword at 1.0 )
- Battleaxe speed set to 0.8 ( compared to 1handed axe at 0.9 )
- Warhammer speed set to 0.7 ( compared to 1handed mace at 0.8 )
(note: default speeds for 2 handed were 0.7 for greatswords and 0.6 for battleaxe and warhammer )
I know there are mods that add perks to the two handed tree that do the same thing, however, i dislike altering the perk tree too much. Particuarly if the mod is adding perks that weren't in the original game design. So instead, i went and edited the base items. Hence, this will effect ALL two handed usage, not just yours. Makes things more interesting.
z_My_DoomStones.esp
- Changed (more like fixed) which skills are effected by warrior, theif, and mage stones. I don't remember exactly what it was before, but it was grossly uneven, with the theif stone being heavily favored by the vanilla setup. ( For example Marksman in vanilla is really under theif and not warrior. )
* Warrior doomstone now improves:
1 handed, 2 handed, block, heavy armor, smithing, marksman, light armor ( 7 total)
*Theif stone now improves:
Alchemy, light armor, lockpicking, marksman, pickpocket, sneak, speechcraft (7 total)
*Mage stone now improves
enchanting, alteration, restoration, destruction, conjuration, illusion, alchemy (7 total)
- This increases warrior, theif, mage stones to a 25% skill increase instead of 20.
- Lover stone changed to 20% skill increase instead of 15%.
- Theif, mage, warrior, lover stones also add a 25% magic resistance. I got sick of feeling like I had to play a breton. So I evened the playing field for myself. Adding the magic reisstance this way, doesn't effect the NPC's you fight. If i had added it as a racial bonus, every npc of that race would have had it.
z_MY_Core.esp
- Reduces compass marker range so you have to explore a little more to find points of intrest.
- Reduces time scale to 10. In game day goes by slower then vanilla. 1 minute in RL equates to 10 mins in game.
Default i think was 20 or 30.
- adds some starting equipment to warden chest in helgen. NOTE: if you want the light armor from the smithing mod, load the smithing mod AFTER this one.
z_MY_RacialPowerChanges.esp
This ones a little bit of a cheat.
- wood elf command animal was increased in magnitute, duration, and changed from a greater power to a lesser power. Meaning you can use it anytime you want.
- Increased duration and magnitude of nord battle cry. Although you can still only use it once per day.
- changed Breton dragonskin's duration to last 1 hour. I believe i left it to where it can only be used once a day. My main intention was a "OMG he's hurling lighting at me" button. I got tired of being owned by some Dragon priest who should be named "Edison's medicine".
z_MY_Werewolf.esp
A number of small tweaks, to improve being a werewolf. Id say your 25% to 50% more powerful then before. I wanted to be kick ass, but not stupidly overpowered.
z_MY_HorseFix.esp
My attempt to:
- Increase horse sprinting distance (succeeded)
- Reduce the rate/range at which horses will jump into fights (only partially succeeded. Sometimes they butt out, sometimes they don't, haven't quite nailed it down yet)
z_MY_ItemFixes.esp
This is my repository for items i dubbed "needed fixing" in the course of play. So far, all i have altered with this file is the tempering of blades armor using steel instead of whatever it was before. (offhand, i don't think you could temper it at all before)

EDIT:
FYI, i found a bug with my house mod. When you remove books from the bookshelves while reading them, and pressing E to take them, they aren't recognizing that the books have been removed. The result is the book is being duplicated in your inventory when you try to remove it. On the other hand if you open the shelf like a chest, and remove them that way, they are not duplicating.

Well, I took the plunge and joined the Legion. Kinda hard to keep a straight face, taking an oath of loyalty to an Emperor that I just killed, like, three days ago. :O: Does word ever get around that the Emperor is dead or do the Imperial Powers That Be choose not to share that little tidbit with their subjects?
Best part was that on the way into Castle Dour to speak with Tullius and Rikke about joining up, I was just coming around the corner from the ramp up to where the blacksmith and fletcher are, when I hear yelling and here come two very angry Penitus Oculatus dudes. Must've been a couple left over from the first botched assassination attempt inside the castle, but whatever. They're dead now and I had to punt their nekkid bodies over against the wall so I don't have to walk over them every time I report back to the Castle. Every once in a while some guard walks by, leans over, and sadly wonders what happened. Lulz.
Other odd thing was that when I went to kill the Emperor I decided to take out Maro first, and the other PO agent who was hanging out with him on the docks. Or agents. I can't remember how many there were. Anyway, the guard who was patrolling that area actually came to *help* me when the second (and/or third) PO dude attacked me. I'd one-shotted Maro in the back from a hidden position at the far end of the pier, so maybe the guard didn't realize I was being attacked because, you know, I'd just killed somebody. Or maybe the Solitude guards just don't like the Penitus Oculatus. :hmmm: There were no repercussions from killing the two outside the castle, either.
Anyway I don't think there are any PO dudes left, after it became clear that they're not going to just let it go, well, I made a little trip to Dragonbridge and killed the only one left in their HQ there. Pretty sure I killed every agent on the Emperor's ship and down by the docks. We have the Emperor's robes and Maro's armor on display in the Dawnstar Sanctuary now. :woot:
Wondering if the only way to get a completed quest on Where You Hang Your Enemy's Head is to buy *every* upgrade there? I bought everything but the Torture Room stuff and victims, because, EW. And now the quest is still just sitting there in my journal like it's unfinished. :stare:
Also wondering for future reference how the game handles the Imperial "medium" armor if that's what you choose when you get outfitted? I took light because all my XP and perks are in Light Armor but I was confused as to why medium was even an option. Does the game lump it in with light, or heavy? I'd really like to have something that looks better than the plain Imperial light but I swore I would do the Civil War quests in what the Legion gave me, improved and enchanted of course (since I can) but it's still making it more interesting than running around in Nightingale stuff or Dragonscale with a buttload of OP weapons. My health bar actually comes up now occasionally in a close fight. :haha:
Altho I did take the ax to Windhelm and defend Whiterun with my full set of Dragon armor and weapons, cuz I felt like I was acting more as Thane of Whiterun there than just another Legion grunt.
I confess I stood in the Palace and asked Ulfric every possible question before getting to the unfortunate matter of Baalgruuf's ax, just to hear him talk. Even as a sworn enemy, when he's issuing veiled and not-so-veiled threats at me and my Jarl, he's still the hottest thing walking. :wah:
So far Tullius and Rikke just fall flat as characters in comparison to Ulfric and Galmar. Baalgruuf did give an awesome speech after the battle for Whiterun, though. At least he and Idgrod will get to keep their thrones, I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
Also forget any complaints I had about Shadowmere, true I have to ride him, fast travel, or take the carriage if I want him along on a journey but that's a small inconvenience because he is awesome. I'm having to leave Marcurio at home for most of the Legion missions and I'm just going everywhere with Shadowmere and loving it. :woot:

It's actually worth the buy IMO

It gives you four different treasure hunts to get some cash

Yeah I know that already, and I don't care... I've already got more money than this character will ever need, I don't need to torture people for more. And I don't think it fits in all that well with the DB stuff anyway, which is (or should be, IMO) about one simple thing: murder for hire, as quickly and cleanly as possible. Not kidnapping people and hanging them up in a torture chamber to extract information out of them, particularly if none of it has anything to do with actually completing a contract. :nope:
So I guess that quest will just have to remain unfinished. I've got to report back to the Sanctuary to let them... her... it... whatever is in that coffin... know that I completed the contract I got when I checked in there, I'm hoping I don't get another one cuz really I should be handing out work to the rest of DB, not running all over creation doing small-time hits when the rest of the gang is doing nothing but hanging out and enjoying the fruits of my labors.
The "payoff" there sucks kinda like a lot of the guild/faction stuff, there's not enough practical recognition that you're actually the LEADER of the organization once you get to that position. It's really annoying with the Thieves Guild if only because there was so much traveling and work and risk involved in making it through to the top. And now I'm supposed to take lip from Vex because I'm not interested in stealing some piddly piece of crap from some house on the other side of the country just to make her happy? Oh, it benefits the Guild? THEN GO GET IT YOURSELF YOU SORRY BINT. Instead of spending 24/7 in the Ragged Flagon giving me the stink-eye every time I pass through. Sheesh.
But ANYWAY... :O:
I will finish out the Civil War quests for the Legion and then maybe the rest of the Daedric ones with this character but that's about it. And maybe only the Daedric ones I haven't done on previous playthroughs, whatever, when I get the Oblivion Walker badge I'll consider that good enough. And I'm only doing it now because it's unlikely that I'll ever play through those things again and I'd like to see how they go.

Agreed, I remember in Oblivion, at least for the DB, when you were the leader (or Listener) people actually recognized you as such. Now it just feels like no one else knows or cares of it.
It's doubly weird in that a lot of people do know and care about it, and it's even reflected in some of their dialogue, but then the rest of their interactions with you are the same as they were before and never catch up to the new order of things. I get greeted as the "boss" but then verbally abused by the same person because I no longer want to take orders from the people who are now my subordinates. I mean, even if I still wanted to run jobs for the guild, the dialogue could be updated a bit to reflect that it's not the same thing as when I first walked in the door and still had to prove myself. "Hey boss, always a pleasure... what's that? Still like to get your hands dirty, eh? I think I can find something that will tickle your fancy...no? well, I'm sure you've got plenty of Guild business to attend to." (Which, actually, I don't, since Brynjolf is apparently doing so much of it that he can't give me the time of day any more. :wah:)
But, you know, something a little more in keeping with one's new status instead of "OMG hey come back here, you'll never get anywhere by turning down work!"
And then there are the people who *never* catch up and have no dialogue left for you except the stuff where they refer to you as the "new" person who still needs to prove worthy of their respect. Especially jarring when it's Skjor, who was killed several quests ago. Oh well, maybe he was only mostly dead and came to all brain-damaged and everyone just ignores his missteps with the new Harbinger out of pity. :O:
So yeah, it's just really hard to enjoy being IN a guild once you've finished the main questline for it. Outsiders like guards actually pick up on your status better than your guild buddies. I was strolling into Riften recently after finishing the main DB thing and a guard started to say something about the Brotherhood and then got all stammery and by the time I got past him he was just like "er.... um... never mind... ma'am." It was the way he added the somewhat terrified "ma'am" on the end that cracked me up, especially since the timing coincided perfectly with the way I walked right by refusing to acknowledge his existence. :haha:

As perversion goes, they take the cake. The Japanese have been into school girls for years. Finished the Civil War for the Empire last night. Judging by the victory speech, Tullius still hasn't gotten word that the Emperor is off the twig. Oh well, I suppose when his flagship never leaves the harbor and all those bodies start to stink up the place, someone will go investigate.
*walks away whistling nonchalantly*
Killed Galmar and Ulfric and stole all their gear. REALLY disappointed in the fact that Ulfric's entire wardrobe changes completely when I put it on, has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just because my PC is female and the game is doing the usual gender armor/clothing switcheroo? SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS I wouldn't mind it being changed to FIT my PC's body but it's just completely redone in crappy colors and pieces and looks NOTHING like what Ulfric was actually wearing. That was the part of finishing the CW that I was most looking forward to... getting that gear and trying it on. BOOOOOOOOO!

Oh, I'm not condoning it, although to be honest Japan hardly has the capital market on perversions, it's just more noticable than in other countries where it's usually suppressed, but yes there are many times I look at the Japanese market, shake my head and sigh. It's pretty damn hard to comphrend them, but they also have their fair share of pretty damn awesome stuff.
But I also sigh when I see people just generalise an entire nation and concept based upon one part of it, it's like saying that all Germans are Nazis, all Americans are fat, all Romanians are thieves, and so on and so forth. I just hate generalisation, although I've fallen into it myself a couple of times because it's an easy thing to do.
I do agree though that the amount of it in the Skyrim mods is excessive, but that's what happens when the player demographic has a bracket in the teens and early twenties on one end, and it also involves science-fiction and/or fantasy, you get the magical slave girl outfits come out...which, I remind you, are not all anime...in fact some of the covers of some western sci-fi books have outfits that leave very little to the imagination :O: Heck, how many sci-fi or fantasy games have women with very little clothing on the front? Look at the publicity around Fem-Shephred in ME3, and Mirandas clothing isn't exactly loose fitting, nor does Morrigan from DAO wear sensible fashion. Sex sells, as they say, and that is the depressing truth that marketers have cottoned onto for the past sixty or more years.
I understand though that you've seen quite a few sights that I wouldn't wish on anyone in your role as an Internet Security, I think we've all taken a wrong turn on the interwebs before and been somewhere that requires mind bleach. Hunter seems to have a speciality in doing that with strange films :hmmm: But whilst it is true that a good majority of extremely strange stuff comes from Japan, it does not mean that one should write off an entire nation and/or an industry/genre because of it.
Anyway, this is getting off topic somewhat, so it's probably best just to agree to disagree but bear in mind that I'm not condoning the...very strange ideas of certain people on the internet... :yep:

Mind/eye bleach doesn't work because it doesn't exist. What does work is desensitization. Sad but true. See stuff often enough, you unplug. As for generalising, you know i do this professionally? Try categorizing the internet. That's part of what i do. Websites meet certain criteria, off into the pigeon hole they go.
Back on topic. Some of the armor i "made" in my smithing mod i posted earlier.

Speaking of armor and smithing mods, my next character will be going back to heavy armor but most likely joining the Stormcloaks ASAP after escaping Helgen since I'd like to stretch the Civil War stuff out a bit more. Felt weird this time around, killing the Emperor and then joining the Legion almost immediately and, hey, barely a week later if that and we're already taking Windhelm. :shifty:
Part of it is due to having timescale set to '2' which has the advantage of making time pass more realistically but the disadvantage of making the playing world incredibly small because even on foot you can cut a pretty wide swathe of adventure and mayhem in the course of one Skyrim day. Maybe I should try to find a happy medium somewhere. And I really should set a self-imposed time restriction on some stuff, like RPing that whatever orders I got specify a day for an attack that is several days off, instead of just "oh hey the party starts when I get there." :O:
Ideally I think it would be cool to locate Ulfric and whatever dudes are with him after they escape Helgen and start making their way back to Windhelm, and then just follow along. I've heard tales of people running across Tullius and Elenwen on the roads out of there, making their way back towards Solitude, but never seen it mentioned about any other major NPCs that were present in the opening sequence. Maybe the game just teleports Ulfric & Co. back to Windhelm, if so, boo. OTOH even if they actually walk back, they'd surely be heading in a completely opposite direction than I am when I emerge from the cave leading out from the keep... that would be a lot of backtracking without Ralof/Hadvar to help out and in gear that isn't that great... I don't suppose there's any way to play out the opening without following through the whole tutorial that puts you on the road to Riverwood? I mean, if you don't follow either Hadvar or Ralof out of Helgen, does the game just "hang" there with Alduin continuing to attack and nothing progressing with any other NPCs?
Anyhoo regarding armor, I'm bummed that the basic Stormcloak armor all appears to be light, except maybe the officer's stuff that you get near the end but I never wore any of it before so it didn't matter. I'll probably want to wear it next time like I did the Imperial stuff on the current playthrough... but I really, really, don't want to wear light armor if only because it wastes leveling opportunities on that skill that I would rather devote to heavy armor, which is what I'm gonna end up wearing over the long haul.
So I guess I need to start looking around for mods that make it possible to play as a Stormcloak grunt in armor that's tagged as heavy instead of light. :hmmm:.
I guess you're right in that respect, I'm certainly less sensitive to it than I was when I first stumbled onto the internet, but you still are able to fall across stuff that 'raises the bar' so to speak... :nope:
Yes, I do feel sorry for you in what you are forced to check out on a daily basis, certainly must make one jaded towards the internet.
Anyway, enough of that.

I have found a wonderful new way to clear those popular and oh so friendly Forsworn encampments over in the Reach.
1. Ride Shadowmere as close as possible to the main entry point.
2. Dismount.
3. Call Dragon.
4. Fire arrow at closest Forsworn, just to make sure they all come out to play.
5. Run like mad for the highest vantage point you can find that provides a bit of cover from enemy archers.
6. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/popcorn.gif
FOR THE LULZ!
Shadowmere and I ran into a bunch of Forsworn out in the hills who were attacking an itinerant peddler. We stopped to help and suddenly it got ugly as there were more of them than I first realized hiding off the trail a bit. So I just figured, let's see what Odahviing makes of this lot.
I don't know if the game has him moving around from place to place when you're not near him, but if not... man, he sure gets to the Reach from the TotW in a hurry. And I'd never seen him LAND to fight my enemies before. This one guy who was fighting Shadowmere, he landed right behind him on the hillside and then just CHOMPED him. Ate him RIGHT UP. And then looked at me with what I SWEAR was a big old dopey Dov grin on his face. It. Was. Awesome.
One fight I just went completely nuts and had Odahviing, Shadowmere, and a spectral Lucien Lachance all running around getting medieval on people's butts.

Just curious; it's my first time playing a warrior that doesn't kill with stealth and arrows. What do you guys prefer? 1H Sword/Mace & Shield? 2h Sword or Hammer or Axe? Or put points into all three..?
Just wondering. I'm playing an Orc who stays mainly in the Strongholds. I managed to get the Mace of Molag Bal, however now I also managed to get Volendruung. I look like a badass with the Warhammer, however when I fight I feel like I'm too slow (especially compared to my last stealthy characters..)

For the warrior type you mentioned I usually played a traditional Nord barbarian with the emphasized skills being Two-Handed, Light Armor and Smithing. My preference in weapons was battle axes, as I found them to be a good balance of power and speed. Hammers are too slow for my liking, and greatswords just don't hit hard enough.

Hmm, sounds good. The big thing I noticed off the bat was how quickly my Stamina got drained when just running in Heavy Armor compared to the Light stuff I'm used to.
After trying out a few things I've found some weapons that I like:
- Volendruung, the war hammer is pretty nice. Hits like a ton of bricks but is a little slow.
- Headsmans Axe, does OK damage but has a really really (really) long reach.
- Wuuthrad. I'm the Harbringer now, what can I say.
-Molag Bal w/ Ysgramor's Shield.
- Double Scimitars or Molag Bal and an enchanted sword.
That's mostly what I've got access to atm, however I'm planing on completing the Ebony Blade quest, which will be nice because the damage will be based off of my 1H sword skill (which is fairly high) but also levels my 2h skill (which will let me use other things as well.)
Cheers! Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I decided on 2h weapons only for the current PC and it really is an adjustment after playing sword and board for so long with my last one. I'd forgotten how many hits you sometimes have to take before you can really get swinging. I died a lot early on from not paying close enough attention to the damage I was taking. I don't know if I'd want to play 2H in light armor, low level heavy was bad enough, lol.
If you can survive long enough to get some perks in 2H and for your armor type, and get a weapon that does decent enough damage, and be smart about how you go about attacking (I still use archery as a preferred initial attack when possible, and try to do as much damage as I can before getting within melee distance)... 2H can be really fun. Especially when you get to the point where you can go toe to toe with an enemy and one- or two-hit them. I had a Daedric warhammer on one character, with a decap perk, and that was awesome. But my armor rating and health/stamina were also leveled up pretty high, so I could stand there and just take it until I got the critical hit.
Edited for new screenies:

Really, Stenvar? Because this fort is falling down. And on fire. Also there is a dragon attacking it. Maybe you should set your sights a little higher, is what I'm saying.

Came back through Whiterun after taking Fort Neugrad. On the road north past the city, I got my first random dragon attack. I guess the farm there took some damage to the fences, or someone left a gate open in all the confusion, because afterwards this guy just comes walking up the road like he knows exactly where he's going. And then he walked under the dragon skeleton and just... stopped. SILLY COW WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT IS NOT YOUR BARN!

Now a question for you modder types and console command afficionados... was discussing multiple followers with someone at the Bethesda forums (we both use a mod for that) and he mentioned wanting to include Marcurio in entourage. I cautioned against it because M. likes to use Chain Lightning A LOT which IME inevitably ricochets onto any allies in the area and either kills them (has happened a lot to stray dogs) or causes them to go aggro on him.
For that reason if I hire him I almost always have him wait somewhere out of the area if I am doing anything that assigns me a temporary additional follower, or stuff like the CW quests where I have a bunch of friendly soldiers fighting alongside me.
Anyway the other person mentioned that he would just remove Chain Lightning from Marcurio's spell repertoire and replace it with something less problematic. I asked how he was going to do that but so far he hasn't replied.
So I'm asking here, is there a way through console commands that you can open up an NPC's "skillset" and remove something from it, like a particular spell, and then add something else to it instead? Or can you create a plugin for that sort of thing fairly easily in the CK? I don't even care about adding another spell to replace Chain Lightning, really, but if I could make him stop using it that would be awesome.
Edit: okay I did find console commands for adding and removing spells, now I'm wondering... will that be saved in my saved games or will I have to do it every time I go in to play? Hmmmm and I can't tell from the description if the commands can be used for NPCs, or just for the player.

Hmm, AFAIK any console commands are mostly geared towards the player. I remember in Oblivion you had to write " xxxx PC xxxx". Now, perhaps if you replace PC with M.'s ID it'd work but IMO it would only be during your session. It probably won't carry over through saves.
Otherwise, try going into the games files and finding Ms. skillset and delete that spell from his repertoir. However, that will delete it from him forever (or at least until you mod it back).

Well, you can "target" an NPC by clicking on him or typing in the correct ID and use some console commands on them. The wiki only gives directions for using add/remove spell commands on the player, but it is formatted like some other commands that you *can* use for an NPC if you have the ID or can target him/her.
I don't know, there's got to be a way to do it, if I could have it as a plugin that just modifies him that would be fine. Don't know how to do it though. There was a program out there that would let you look at an NPC's files and change them around but I can't remember what it was called. :hmmm:

:damn: somehow lost my reply.. brb..
Edit:..
removespell <spell ID>
Removes a specific spell from a character's spell book. Also works with powers, abilities, blessings, and diseases, but not shouts For a spell's ID code, see the page for its corresponding magic school, indexed at Spells. For other applicable IDs, see: Powers and Abilities, Blessings, or Diseases.
E.g., player.removespell 00092c48 will remove the "Beast Form" power from the player's spell book.
Now, note how you must input "player" and then .removespell ID for this to work. Try inputting M.'s ID instead of player and then the corresponding spell ID and see if it works.

I would actually think you just need to open the console, then target the NPC (you will see their Base ID appear in the top, centre of the console) then just use: removespell <spell ID>.
That is how it works with "addspell" so it stands to reason it would work to remove one.

that could work also, but I'd assume that one could input this at the start of any player (as in when you restart a character) and then, when you meet M. you wouldn't have to fuss around with clicking and deleting, etc.
Also, I don't play Skyrim on PC, so I'm not well versed in the intricacies of using the console in this game.
I've just got back into this again after not really playing it for a while. Two things: The full three word powershout unrelenting 'fusty roll!' force shout thing is ace fun. I'm having a ball with pinging cave bears off trees and all that sort of nonsense, and Steam workshop is great. It's a top innovation. I'm off to scour the workshop for a cool sword and armour set to compliment the 'busy serial killing total psycho man about town' thing I've got going on.

Yeah, I've used console commands on targeted NPCs before. I just don't have any documentation stating that the add/remove spell commands work on them in addition to the player. Seems logical that they would, but who knows. Also don't know if using the command carries over with your saves or not, if I have to do it every time I load up I might as well look at ways to permanently remove it with a plugin or something.

Anyway it will probably be a while before I meet Marcurio in the game, so I don't need to worry about it right away. Still playing out the CW and it never seemed right to have him involved much in that anyway.
Also I killed me a dragon this week with poisoned arrows and melee so I'm feeling better about not having a ranged magic user around 24/7. Technically Stenvar helped but still, no magic except for 2/3 of the Unrelenting Force shout. Found out the Slow poison actually works on dragons, I guess by the time I tried it before my weapons were so OPed that we usually one-or two-shot everything so I never really saw the effect of it. It was fun watching him derp around at half speed while peppering him with arrows.
Altho the first time I got overconfident and ran right up to his head with my greatsword drawn, thinking I would get an awesome kill shot because he only had the teeniest tiniest amount of health left. Sadly it was just enough to chomp right down over the top half of my body and shake me around like a rag doll and then toss me away like the dead fool I was when he was done with me.
On the plus side, the killcam for that was pretty awesome. :O:

I've had that one about three times from the same Bloody Blood Dragon, the best one is when he gets you as you're healing, so by the time you're killed, you're actually at full health and the magic animation is still going.

Well I will certainly try the console first and see what happens. If not...
Actually I'm looking to get into the CK and see how you go about changing the sound file that plays for certain things, I know it's possible as there are already mods out there for that. What I would like to do is replace the thunderclap that plays when Ulfric shouts in battle with the Fus Ro Dah shout used for the Nordic male player character. I never play a male character so I never hear it anyway, and Draugr shouts use something completely different.
But I will be doing the battle for Solitude soon and would like to have it before that, because that's probably the only time I will ever hear him shout in the game unless I decide to use the spouse/follower mod for him to make him a follower, which I can't see doing very often. I don't know if I want to try fooling with it right now but we'll see. At this point I don't even know if I have what I need to unpack whatever file all the game sounds are in.

Can't decide if the "he" in the last sentence refers to the Stormcrown, and now you're becoming Ysmir and so it "remembers" you. Or if it refers to Ysmir himself, who remembers that it's been a long and sorrowful wait for a successor and so he's sent an avator or incarnation of himself to wear it again. :hmmm:

I have come to use some mods now. First, one to improve the darkness of nights, which thankfully also tames the hyperbrightness of fires a bit, giving fires at night a much more golden, warm look. Then two soundmods (sounds of skyrim), a levelling mod to slow the pace of levelling and making monsters level up higher as well, and finally several homes.
And of these, two I liked so much that they really touched my heart. So far, my favourite hiome was the default house in Riften, it was the most "gemütlich" of the five default homes. There are many homes created by modders, some incredibly huge and complex castles (Castle Grey... wowh...), then one that I liked due to its hidden place (Dragon Falls), but it causes the game to have many graphical artefacts and clipping issues all over the world suddenly, so I switched it off again, and it was a bit too cold in colours anyway, though the diea with those many fountain walls was nice. A wonderfully done rangers' keep at Riverwood, which looks extremely inviting and makes a nice, small holiday domicile. :)
Then I ran into Roriksberg, which has a nice feeling of a safe but besieged wagon fort and looks very cozy and warm at night, plenty of fires there. I thought it could not get any more "gemütlich" than this, but -
Then I discovered Mist Top. And that one knocked me out of my shoes. It is not monumental, but also not small, it is absolutely original in design, has some very nice visual ideas, and it simply is - well, I felt gifted, as if it were real. Very, very cozy, a feeling of very safety, very gemütlich, some unusual ideas in architecture (the library...), and when I arrived there, it was night, and the beauty of the place just stunned me. This is probably the most beautiful place I know in Skyrim, fascinating, I felt like a little kid back in my childhood days building a porate nest in some hidden corner of the nearby woods without getting seen by the adults. Some of the monumental XXXL-homes in Skyrim are really impressive in complexity and size, but you fell islated and lopnely in them, so making me feeling at home, touching my heart and making me yearning to be there in real, only Mist Top and Roriksberg, also that Rangers Keep at Riverwood acchieved.
Maybe home mods are not your thing, but do yourself a favour and at least try Mist Top. If that place would be available to me in real life, I would immediately move there and happily spend the rest of my life writing poetry there. :)
I also did not note ANY artifacts there, no clipping errors, no visual glitches, nothing. Perfect place! It now becomes my residence in my new restart of the game.

I wonder whether Skyrim has any known issues with memory management?
I noticed it from beginning on - when playing a longer session, it can happen that frames suddenly drop into a range where gameplay visibly suffers, and movement is jerky. This happens AFTER LONGER GAMEPLAY in one session, and becomes evident when leaving a house and being in the outside again, or when being in an area with plenty of Aspen trees.
When saving, leaving, restartzing and loading the game - frames are fine again.
I installed the lush grass and lush trees mod yesterday, and had the issue again when travelling the wooded area NE of Ivarstad, along the road that leads to Riften. I tought it was the mod, adding mush grass and more needles to the trees. I reloaded the game froim a saved point - and things were absolutely smooth again.

Interesting, I wonder how that's going to work with all the variables arising from the Civil War stuff? I don't know how DLCs work, really, if you add it to your existing installation and boot up your current game will it start with the existing status quo and work from there, or will it require you to start a whole new game, or will it be a completely separate game that assumes the war turned out a certain way?
Of course if you played the Stormcloak side and finished out the war then all the Jarls are still alive altho some are not Jarls any more, but if you won the war for the Legion then Ulfric is deader than Jacob Marley. :O:
I would totally love to see the Moot, do you think the PC will get to take part in it? Not with a vote but at least as an observer. I'd hate it to be like, "oh yeah did you hear they had a moot and so-and-so is king now." That would suck.
Also some are saying this is gonna be a callback to the Mythic Dawn and the Oblivion Daedra thing and also the Morrowind bit is, eh, whatever, I didn't play those games and that might be awesome but I really want to take down the Thalmor.

I have a feeling, based on some info and stuff I've seen that the crossbow stuff is correct (the files are in the Skyrim directories), and that the Vampire stuff might be true (based on different eye colour of the PC in the picture.)
Because his eye colour is different then that of the Skyrim vampires, I'd have to assume that a new province (i.e.: a new class of vampires) is being added.

Oh frau, you owe it to yourself to play through Morrowind with as much fun as you had with Skyrim.
I just ordered the GOTY editions of Morrowind and Oblivion. :D
Edit: finished out the Civil War quests last night, with the Battle for Solitude.
Funniest moment, on the way up to the gates of the city to meet Ulfric and the rest of the troops, I see a group walking up ahead. Looks for all the world like one of the standard "three soldier, one prisoner" groups that you run into all over the place. But as I get closer, I realize the nearest individual to me, who is bringing up the rear of the group, is wearing Elven armor.
ROFL it's a group of Thalmor Justiciars with a Talos Worshipper prisoner and for some reason they were leading him right up to the city. While it's under attack by the Stormcloaks. Bad timing, they haz it! When I get up close I see that the patrol has stopped just a ways up past the guard tower right there by where the carriage usually is, and they are just standing there looking around at the catapults and fires and burning wreckage of various things. They all have their backs to me so I plant the Axe of Eastmarch right between the shoulders of the nearest one. I mean, WTH, any bounty I have in Haafingar is probably about to be cleared anyhow.
So then me and Erik the Slayer - who is ADORABLE, btw - finish off all three Thalmor and I set the prisoner free. I'm running around collecting their loot when a Solitude guard comes walking up the side road from the stables and of course he's gone hostile because of what I just did, he's already got an arrow drawn to take me down. I decide to ignore him and just run on up and meet Ulfric. Erik decides to kill him, so, um... okay. Didn't really want to kill any guards today or ever, but bounty about to be cleared, fine, let's just move on.
But when I get up to the main gate... no Ulfric, no Stormcloaks. WTF I think, I go into Solitude and they are already inside the gate, just standing there. So apparently when I was chasing those Thalmor around I got close enough to the waiting Stormcloak troops to trigger the next part of the Battle for Solitude, and everybody just went right on in without me. Well, I'm not doing the battle without hearing Ulfric's Big Speech, fortunately I have a save in the Stormcloak camp right before Galmar sent me up to take the city. Reload, I think this time I'll make sure it goes off without a hitch.
Lol, we head on up the road, same Thalmor patrol, same spot and everything. And I mean, there's no way I'm NOT killing them, right? Managed to do it the second time without having to deal with any guards or fouling up the opening scene of the battle for the city. Nice because I wanted some armor off a Justiciar for my trophy room anyway and what better time and place to get it? :woot:
Anyway - took Solitude, war's over, more speechifying, talk to Ulfric, get told I'm free to roam again :shifty: -
HA THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK ULFRIC I HAVE AN AMULET OF MARA AT HOME WITH YOUR NAME ON IT AND A "MARRY ULFRIC" MOD AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT
- but anyway I figure I'll just follow Ulfric to see what he does, if he's going all the way back to Windhelm I'll just pretend we're his personal guard escorting him. But he just goes out the city gate and apparently just stands there indefinitely. There's a horse parked down the path a bit which I guess is supposed to be his. But I waited and waited and he doesn't seem to be moving from that spot. Bummer because I'm sure I read where someone followed Ulfric on the road from Solitude to Windhelm or vice versa, just to see what happened along the way, but I've never seen him outside the Palace except for scenes where he's scripted to just pop up somewhere else.
So finally I give up on escorting Ulfric back to Windhelm and just head on back to the camp, suddenly I hear Erik draw his weapon and then out of nowhere a dragon roar. We are still on the road and it goes back and forth between us and the camp. We both get a lot of arrows in it while it's hovering to attack the camp. It finally drops to the ground on the road near us, by this time one of the horses from the camp has run up to tank it but it's almost dead anyway and one of us got a final arrow in it and it died. No doubt the soldiers in the camp got some shots in as well that we didn't see.
It was remarkable to me because that is the closest I have ever seen a dragon come to attacking Solitude... I never see any up around the city proper, I think Dragonbridge was the closest attack in any previous game. So it was really a surprise.
It might have been the one that we heard while passing through Fort Snowhawk on the way back to Haafingar, that's the fort NW of Morthal on the road from there to Dragonbridge. I was passing by the fort when I heard a dragon roar, it was nighttime so visibility was limited, I went up top of the battlements and went all around looking in every direction and couldn't spot it. It would get quiet and I would start to leave and then it would roar again and sound closer than before. This went on for almost 20 minutes and I was actually afraid to leave the fort because I really thought an attack was imminent. It was just so eerie, I hated walking away when I could still hear that dragon roaring somewhere and I had no idea where he was. Could've been the one on the mountaintop lair overlooking Morthal but if so that roar was really echoing down through the valley and it was SCARY.

You're going to love them. Morrowind is going to be a bit harder to get into because of its age, but the storyline and the lore and the feeling of being in a completely alien world make it one of the best games ever. There's a mod called Morrowind Overhaul (http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics) that brings the game up to 2012 standards (as much as possible). I highly recommend it. It comes with a dummy-proof PDF on how to install it....very simple. It even takes over your mouse cursor in some spots to click the appropriate options on some things.

I hope the cliff racer rumor is false. I HATED those things with a fervent passion. Most annoying thing in Morrowind. The VERY FIRST mod i ever installed in the elder scroll series, was a non aggressive cliff racer mod.
Cliff racers - being attached randomly, without warning, constantly, over and over and over again, when nothing is in sight, until you look up. Makes exploration very jarring.

I came to Morrowind as a diehard Baldur's Gate/Planescape D&D grog and fell in love with it. It's every bit as good as those Black Isle games and utterly different at the same time. The lore, the world are all fantastic, but it's the sound that gets me about Morrowind; alien creatures calling out over a strange and fantastic place. Awesome game. :yeah:

Just managed to get it on my laptop and I have to say, coming from such games as BF3 and Skyrim, it's hard to look past the graphics. I haven't done much except create my character so far, but I've got a 12 hour train ride tomorrow so I'll try and get into it then.
Can anyone recommend setups and such as well as where to go right off the bat? If I'm not mistaken there is no fast travel nor do enemies scale to your level? If this is right then I can tell I'll love the game regardless.

Ok the biggest gripe you're going to have right off the bat is the combat system. It's based upon the old school method of die rolls to see if you hit. So you'll be whacking away on a mudcrab with your sword, and it looks like you're hitting it, but you aren't and all you're hearing is that "swish swish" weapon miss sound. This can be frustrating, but just know that:
If you start as a Redguard with Long Blade as a major skill and the Warrior sign, you'll start out with the best starting weapon skill of any combination of character. Use a long blade and you're set.
Also, as you use a weapon, you'll naturally become better at it, and once you get a weapon proficiency to around level 60 to 70, you'll be hitting much more often than you miss and it won't be so bad.
Running everywhere drains your fatigue, and low fatigue lowers your chance to hit. Actually, low fatigue lowers your chance to do anything. You can either find a "running doesn't affect fatigue" mod, or not run everywhere, which can be a test of patience because movement speed in Morrowind is slow.
There is fast travel, but it's through boats and stilt striders (which are giant fleas. Yes, giant fleas.) There are also spells that allow you to mark a spot and then recall to it anytime. There are also spells that will warp you to the nearest shrines in towns. So you have some fast travel options, but just not as gamey as those in Oblivion and Skyrim.
Your best bet starting out is to follow the main quest at least until you make it to Balmora. You'll meet someone there who will set you up with some funds and point you in the direction of some things that will help you level up and get on your feet. Follow his advice.
Save often. Vvardenfell is a dangerous place. You most likely will stumble onto things that will kill you quickly. If you find yourself in trouble, run away or use an intervention scroll/spell to warp yourself back to a town.
Mages can be a difficult choice for a first time player. Magicka does not constantly regenerate as it does in Oblivion/Skyrim. Unless you've chosen the Atronach sign, you'll need to use potions or rest in order to restore magicka.
I envy you - I remember the sense of wonder and exploration I got in my first time through Morrowind.
I'll leave you with this: in Vvardenfell you can't believe everything you read or hear, and even the most simple and straightforward truths have an undercurrent of lies and self-serving deceit in them.
The silt striders are Morrowinds version of Horse and cart. You can usually find them by listening for them, they sound a bit like whales and look like some kind of giant flea.
There are plenty of graphics improvement mods out there, and the mod system is fairly easy to get to grips with (runs in a similar way to Skyrim but without the Steam mod center or Nexus mod manager).
Oh, and have fun with the cliff racers... :shifty:
EDIT: Just saw Mookie described the silt striders already...I blame it on being 2:40am. But I do agree with him that I envy you discovering Morrowind for the first time, it is a truly strange and yet beautiful place.

So how many times have people restarted as a different character? I'm still running with the same one I created on release day (Varro, an imperial cutthroat who fled to Skyrim to escape the law,) but I'm guessing I might be in the minority.
Think I'm on my 4th character atm.
Installed a bunch of cool mods and I'm playing as a normal guy who have just
arrived to Skyrim looking for a new start.
Main mods I'm using:
Frostfall - Hypothermia mod. Checks the weather and area you are in to see
how cold you are. Fires warm you, clothing matters and also if you run around
in rain or go for a swim your clothes get wet which drains your "exposure points"
quicker (you can dry up around fire).
Imp's more complex needs - Basically it adds the need to eat, drink and sleep.
But under the hood, it also keeps track of nutrients, proteins, alcohol %, coffee
and all that good stuff.
Alternative start from Solitude - Game starts from the Solitude docks,
it also disables the main story. You're only carrying your clothing, nothing else.
Very much enjoying it this way. Did some farm work around Solitude first to
get enough money for better clothing (tends to be cold around Solitude :yep:).
Took a day and half (in-game, TCx5) to get enough money for a decent bow
and sword, after which I went hunting for animals so I could sell their hides
(using some mod that boosts the prices for those a bit).
Once I felt confident to travel, I headed all the way over to Riverwood by foot
where I have the Riverwood Hunter Cabin as a home. So now I'm there,
living a life of a hunter, selling the hides I get and stuff.
Been thinking of building a home with the creation kit and paying it with my
in-game money. For example the empty house would cost 5000 gold, adding
walls to make rooms would cost x amount etc. :hmmm:

I've made three Characters. A Mage, A warrior(actually more of a Cleric/Paladin build) and an Assassin/Theif.
I only built the main storyline with My Mage, and the other two characters I simply did the related quest lines and got a feel for the play style of each up to around level 20 or so. However my mage is level 68 atm and has completed everything. (questline wise, there is still a few things here and there left undiscovered)

I'm on my fourth character, my third "real" character as I consider the first one I did a trial run just to figure out what the hell I'd gotten myself into and how everything worked. The second (or first "real" character) was basically just a start-over of the trial run.
Current character has just finished a little adventure she likes to call "Stalking Ulfric Stormcloak." After the battle of Solitude was over, she decided to see if she could accompany her Jarl back to Windhelm (assuming he went there) as his official military guard/escort. Turned out to be tricky, as immediately following the battle he walked out of Solitude and then just stood there outside the main gate and wouldn't go anywhere as long as I was in the general area (got as far as the Haafingar SC camp, even fought and killed a dragon that attacked there and when I went back he was still just standing there). I had to fast travel to Windhelm and take the carriage back in order to trigger his actual departure from the area.
I had to do much the same thing several times early in the journey, either scouting way ahead and then returning or fast traveling to some known nearby location and making my way back to the last place he stopped. Or I would just stand nearby and wait in increments of one hour until he disappeared from the spot, then I would have to run ahead and try to find him. Fortunately the moveto command allowed me catch up if I lost him completely. I don't know if he is scripted to wait and/or "relax" in certain spots for extended periods of time, or if it's somehow connected to the in-game time of day or what, in order to make it seem like it takes him longer to get back to Windhelm than it normally would or because he's "supposed" to arrive back there at a certain time of day. Whatever. I made it work.
Did we have an interesting journey? Aw hell yes. Total body count when all was said and done:
3 horkers
2 slaughterfish
2 giants, 1 mammoth, 3 bandits, 2 frostbite spiders
1 Boethiah cultist
1 disrespectful Nord chick who shoved past him on the road down through The Pale and then went aggro on me when I stopped her to discuss her rude behavior
1 mudcrab that wasn't doin' nothin' but minding its own business
Coming up: screencaps! :woot:

STALKING ULFRIC STORMCLOAK
Part 1
The battle is over, the war has been won, and the victors have gathered after the struggle to bask in their hard won - if only momentary - glory and speak of the trials and challenges that still lie ahead...
http://img806.imageshack.us/img806/3794/stalk01.jpg
"So... you comin' back to Windhelm? We could totally party."
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Never one to take the easy road when there's a shorter, more difficult path available, Ulfric leaves Solitude and heads south and east past the stables and East Empire Warehouse.
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/483/stalk02.jpg
He leaves the road and makes cross country for the spit of land that juts out into the water just south of where the Dainty Sload is moored. And down by the waterline three foolishly aggressive horkers meet their doom.
http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/9810/stalk03.jpg
He Fus-Ro-Dahed them first (not to be used lightly, my @$$ :O: ) and then broke out the double axes. Erik and I helped finish off the first two; the third ended up getted shouted out into the water and was on its way back to the shore when Ulfric shouted it away again and I killed it with an arrow. You can see him at the near edge of that little bit of land offshore in the next shot.
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8816/stalk04.jpg
And then we just stood there, admiring the scenery, for... like... forever.
http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7881/stalk05.jpg
He would walk around on that spit of land, go down and stand by the water's edge, go back up towards the road like he was heading back towards the Solitude docks, once he even went for short swim...
http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/9046/stalk06.jpg
...but he came right back to the same place again. After I scouted ahead as far as High Gate Ruins on the far shore, he finally waded over to the larger islet in between the coasts of Haafingar and the northernwestern edge of The Pale.
http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2445/stalk07.jpg
He walked around the islet to the eastern side and stood there, looking at the opposite coast, for hours of game time. I scouted ahead again, going much further inland than before, only to return and find that he had moved on. I caught up with him in the waters between the islet and the mainland. Finding myself under attack by slaughterfish I was making for land as fast as I could when I heard the unmistakeable sound of Ulfric shouting. I turned around in the water to see two dead slaughterfish floating by. Two thoughts: the man takes care of his own, lol, and... Ulfric can engage in combat while swimming?
Well, no, not exactly, because when I finally got a bead on him I could see that HE was not swimming. He was wading, i.e., walking fully upright. In water so deep that I and my follower had no choice but to swim for it. Make of that what you will. :O:

STALKING ULFRIC STORMCLOAK
Part 2
Having reached the northwestern coast of The Pale, Ulfric decides to spend a few more hours near the shoreline, just taking in the scenery and perhaps meditating on recent events and his place in the world and no doubt considering the possibility of taking out a restraining order on this Stormblade chick.
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/2787/stalk08.jpg
"Oh gods why won't you just GO AWAY?!?"
Once again I scouted ahead, only to return and find he had moved on without his trusty escort in tow. Caught up with him on the path east of High Gate Ruins, where I found him about to engage in a battle with multiple fierce opponents. At first I could only see two giants and a mammoth, but from their behavior it appeared that they were already fighting someone or something else. They soon decided to include us in the general melee.
When all was said and done...
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8156/stalk09.jpg
...I couldn't be sure just who killed who, but the final death toll based on a quick looksee around the area was two giants, one mammoth, three bandits, and two frostbite spiders. :o
http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6964/stalk10.jpg
Now you just stand there, young man, and THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU DID.
And so he did, long enough for me to run due east all the way to Dawnstar and sell off some spare gear and buy supplies. I had also scouted the area to the southeast as well, clearing out a hidden Imperial camp in the process. Apparently I took a bit too long with all of it, or else he had great faith in my ability to clear the path ahead for his safety, because at some point he once again headed off on his own, making along the path southeast through The Pale until he hit the main road that runs east and then south and then east again towards Windhelm.
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/8108/stalk11.jpg
It was during this leg of the journey that we were ambushed by what turned out to be a Boethiah cultist bent, I suppose, on murdering whoever came along. Being at the forefront of the party, Ulfric handled that one almost all on his own... but I made a mental note to investigate this clearly dangerous cult and, if possible, teach its members a thing or two.
I also had to deal with a Nord warrior of unknown allegiance who had the audacity to try and shoulder-shove my good Jarl off the road when she approached from the opposite direction. Ulfric, being consumed by thoughts of more important things, like whether or not he'd remembered to tell Jorleif to have his "good" loincloth cleaned and pressed just in case the Stormblade woman was a goer - because she might be crazy but you know what they say about the crazy ones, amirite? - ignored the insult and breach of etiquette but I simply could not let it go. When stopped for questioning the woman extended her insults to my own person as well and when cautioned about her attitude she attacked and I was forced to take her down.
Finally we reached the easternmost part of The Pale, and the shores of the River Yorgrim. I was a bit surprised when Ulfric began to wade purposefully across the river far to the west of the bridge below Anga's Mill, but when I followed him as duty demanded and heard his battle cries echo through the night ahead, I knew he had simply detected a dire threat to the people of his beloved Skyrim and gone to remove its foul presence from the land.
And so it was... for as I arrived to see him looking down at his slain foe, uttering with barely concealed contempt the words "That'll teach you to cross me," I knew full well that - whatever else the future might bring - the good people of my homeland would have one less mudcrab to worry about.
(I really wish I had screencaps of that, but I was just :rotfl2: too hard to take any.)
At any rate, he returned to the road and walked on. Just east of the mill, he once again waded into the water and headed for the southern edge of the river. My gods, I thought, what has he sensed this time, lurking in the depths of the night, ready to wreak havoc on his country and its fair inhabitants? Another mudcrab? A half-dead skeever? A malcontented goat?
Nope, he was just crossing over to the path that leads down to Windhelm on the other side of the river.

Glad you enjoyed it! :D
Now I'm just dying to see if the "Marry Ulfric" mod works as advertised. Says you can have him for a follower afterwards as well.
Not planning on making the future High King of Skyrim tag along on all my adventures, since that would be ridiculous from a role-playing perspective, but I think for special occasions... cuz I know there will still be Thalmor hanging out at the Embassy, the Boethiah cult's sanctuary is near his city, and there's a dragon up in the mountains above Windhelm somewhere. Those are the kinds of things that would be worth getting him off the damn throne IMO. We'll see how he does and then maybe I'll take him along on some of the main quest stuff.
OMG I'm totally in Riften right now, I have to remember to talk to the priest to get the matrimony quest started. I may just wear the Amulet around for a while to see how many offers I get. Altho I currently have two thanes, two followers, and countless people that I've done favors for... if you reject someone, do they get ugly about it and you lose the benefits of their favorable disposition towards you? I've always just picked who I wanted and gone straight to that person before equipping the Amulet.
Just hired Marcurio and I'm going to look up the code for Chain Lightning to see if the removespell command works. Wish me luck. Altho I think the follower mod I'm using has a special command built in that resets follower AI after friendly fire or something, so I dunno. We'll see what happens.
At least he can't kill Meeko, I've got him living the high life with Calder back in Windhelm. :haha:

What do you guys think about the proposed Elder Scrolls MMO? I admit I'm a little leery given that I am not sure they will be able to incorporate so many of the wonderful sandbox aspects from TES into an MMO platform.
Edit: Oh, sorry, I didn't know there was a thread about this already. Silly me! :P

What do you guys think about the proposed Elder Scrolls MMO?
I won't be playing it, so I don't really have an opinion. If it happens it happens but since the work appears to have been contracted out to different people I don't think it will affect the single player games. I hope not, anyway.
And if anyone was wondering, the addspell/removespell commands do work on NPCs, you just have to target them in the console. I took M's Chain Lightning away and since he already has one other shock and one fire destruction spell I gave him Ice Spike to round out his elementals. Plus he'll be getting most of the staves we come across whenever he's with me. Went through a couple battles after that and he never used the Chain Lightning so I think it worked!
Oh and this is so cool, the follower mod I'm using lets you give spell tomes to followers and tell them to study the books you just gave them in order to learn the new spells. I just gave him Conjure Familiar, Conjure Flame Atronach, and Reanimate Corpse. We haven't been out since so I'll be curious to see if he actually starts pulling the new spells out of his hat. If he starts reanimating dead enemies I'm gonna have to unlearn my habit of looting every single corpse clean right away, lol, or we'll have some poor zombie in a loincloth trying to fight off a bandit chief with his bare hands. :haha:

YAY IT WORKS! He's conjuring and reanimating like a wild man.
The Marry Ulfric mod also works, I did a test run and then reloaded the previous save so I could go back and actually get hitched when I'm ready. Well, the proposal and acceptance dialogue prompts are there, anyway. The only downside is that the modder had to put in "empty" sound files to take the place of what would normally be VA dialogue. So there's no audio, just subtitles for the new stuff, but because they sound files are empty they are really short and the subtitles flash on and off so fast you can't really see them.
I don't know if there's a way I can play with the sound files she made to make a longer silence out of them so the subtitles will at least be up long enough to read. I don't know anything about the file format used and I don't know if any of the software I have will let me tinker with them. :hmmm:

BTW, what is it with the weapon values of different smithing quality? It seems the differences are minimal between an iron sword and a steel sword, or the others. Even if they get imporoved all to the same levels, they are just rated different by one or a few more counters. Is there really any serious, noticable difference between an exquisite elevn dagger, an exquisite steel dagger, or an exquisite ebony dagger?
I also how the system calculates the difefrences in net effects when a weapon gets swung. Compare the differences between a one handed sword and a two-handed sowrd or a battle axe. They differ in the speed by which they get swung, but the net differencxes, in weapon rating, is minimal. Does the weapon'S value gets multiplied with the talent of the fighter for using archery, one-handed and two-handed weapons?
I have started to ignore choosing weapons for maximum values. I completely go by looks now. Dwarfen sword, elven bow, ebony or elven dagger, vulcan glass armour and pelt armour. And cloaks. However, I see now ntoicable decline in my combat efficiency. Is a steel dagger that got improved to the same level like let'S say an elven or vulcan dagger effectively the same weapon?

Believe me, nobody felt worse about it than I did. I haven't interacted with her as this PC yet (except for the brawl) but I did in other playthroughs and she's just so sweet. She was predictably nice about the whole affair, lol. She told me I got her fair and square and then just left the house. Aerin just stood there at the door scowling and saying "You need to leave" in a belated attempt to be menacing. ORLY little man? Where were you when I was beating the crap outta your friend? :haha:
I think I'm going to make up for it by going and getting her sword and surprising her with it. :yep:
Oh and I'm pretty sure I have fought lady Draugrs in some of the tombs. The bosses always seem to be male but sometimes I run into a lower level one that appears to be wearing the female version of the armor. :hmmm:

Pretty sure this is the case as IIRC I have seen damage numbers for weapons change when I go from just highlighting them in my inventory to actually equipping them. The damage you can do with a 2H weapon is increased by your skill level in 2H and/or the 2H perks you've taken.
Is a steel dagger that got improved to the same level like let'S say an elven or vulcan dagger effectively the same weapon?
If by "level" you mean the Flawless, Epic, Legendary tags... no, I'm pretty sure it's not. If you have a steel dagger and, say, an ebony dagger and you have the smithing perks for both materials and you improve them both at the same crafting session, even if you can get them both to "Legendary" status the ebony should still have a higher damage rating than the steel because the base damage for the ebony weapon is twice that of a steel dagger. The ebony weapon started out better and, all other things being equal, it should always be better than its steel equivalent.
According to UESP:
The actual damage your character will do with a weapon is derived from the base damage according to your character's weapon skill and any relevant skill perks. The damage can also be increased by using smithing to sharpen a weapon.
Weapon damage forumula:
displayed damage = (base damage + smithing increase) * (1 + 0.5 * skill/100) * (1 + perk effects) * (1 + item effects)
Perk Effects = .2 * Barbarian/Armsman/Overdraw rank level
Edit: I put Mist Top in and went to check it out. The graphics are fantastic but sadly it's just not the house for me. The location is too inconvenient, it's difficult to get to (and apparently impossible for some followers), and it's SO cramped and small inside. Far too claustrophobic IMO. I really loved the outdoor smithy but the interior appears to be designed more for looks than actual function... most of what I saw was just there as decoration, it wasn't something you could pick up and interact with, which is a shame. It's not like I want a house full of valuable or unique items that I can pick up and add to my inventory for fun and profit, but to have so much stuff there that normally would be interactive - books, a coin purse, etc. - but isn't and therefore can't even be moved from one spot to another at my convenience... meh.

Hey I just had a thought... you know all those enemy camp commanders that are still tagged as essential and unkillable even after the war is over? Lots of complaints about it and more than one mod to "fix" it so you can kill them, which I have been using for just that purpose.
But maybe the named commanders were left essential because they're supposed to still be there for some DLC expansion involving more fighting between the Stormcloaks and the Legion? You know, leave the named commanders in place and then just spawn more generic soldiers when and where needed, because both sides still need to be "in place" for whatever happens in the expansion. What if it's all leading up to something involving an eventual alliance between the two sides, say, in the wake of some bigger issue like the Dominion suddenly decides the time is right to strike...
I dunno. But it would be an interesting way to resolve the problem of "what will the Lore say about who won the war." No matter which side you took in the original game, after that part is over, something else happens and Skyrim and the Empire reunite in some fashion to deal with it, Ulfric/Tullius (whichever one survived the CW questline) is killed, then the history books say there was a war for independence but the two sides joined up to fight a bigger threat and the aftermath makes the CW look like small potatoes so it becomes little more than a footnote.

Well, I thought about an epic weapon status for a low-end weapon versus a high-end weapon that has not received any smithing at all. If the resulting damage number on boith weapons are more or less the same and maybe are separated by just one or two counters, then I think there is little difference.
Anyhow, the game becomes too easy at higher levels anyway, so i do not mind to use low-end weapons anyway. Already use a mod to increase enemy-rankings beyond 30, so that they level up with you, and a mod for slowing down own levelling. Made it a gameplay that feels not so rushed, and more developing. The mods Dowly has recommended, are very nice, especially Frostfall, while Imp'S imroved basic needs colliudes with my follower-improvements, and since I found it a bit anoying to stop gameplay every couple of minutes to eat, drink and rest, I skipped it. Have just started a new character, with gamestart at Solitude, and already got Meeko and Jenazara (Jenassera? Jezera? Who imagines these names? Does he get payed for it?) as teammates, living in the hunter'S cab at Riverwood whcih is very nice. Plan to move over to Mist Top and win Mjoll again, once I got levelled up. Skipping on magic completely these time, and on the main story as well (which nI never managed to end, the game always locks down at the Dragon to be fought at Kynareth once I met Delfine, no even console commands brought me beyond that point).
Somehow I always end up plkaying the same kind of character, doing the same kind of tactcis, perks, living in the same places. Think I am a creature of habit. Sword, dagger, bow, sneaking, ruling my gang. That'S it for me.

:D
They're only bosses until this female Dovahkiin kills them. :O:
Well, I thought about an epic weapon status for a low-end weapon versus a high-end weapon that has not received any smithing at all.
Oh, I have no doubt that with the necessary skill levels and perks you can improve a low end weapon to the point where it's just as good (or close to it) as a higher end weapon that hasn't been improved at all. And that's useful for someone who wants a reasonably good weapon but doesn't want to spend perks on smithing bumps for higher end materials.
Personally I can't resist smithing, it's the one kind of crafting that I absolutely love doing just for the hell of it, so I always end up leveling out in the skill. Then I take perks for higher grade materials when I see them becoming readily available to my character either in merchants' stocks or found items.
The new patch made it much harder to just grind out low end items for smithing level-ups, which was frustrating at first but I like it. I've got all the perks now except Daedric and Dragon and I may not take those for a while yet... I don't plan to wear or use Daedric anyway and if I take the perk for it just to improve things I want to sell I may have a hard time finding anyone with enough money to buy them.
The only weapons I've used that went beyond the "steel" level in quality are Orchish, and that's only because I've been using the Axe of Eastmarch that Ulfric gave me when I became Thane and it was Orcish, so I made an Orcish bow to match (or just kept and improved one that I found).
The armor I'm wearing, while modded in and forged myself, falls under the Steel smithing perk but has stats close to ebony since the modder wanted to make it a viable end-game set. He did include some ebony in the forging recipe, along with things like bear claws and pelts which was really cool. I'm considering making an ebony set, but I don't know. I might just stick with what I have and keep improving it as my alchemy and enchanting get better and I can bump my smithing skill bit by bit through those means.
I may make ebony weapons since the stuff is becoming readily available and the sword I got from Ulfric at the end of the CW is ebony. But it's a 1H weapon and I promised myself 2H only on this character...
OTOH I'm also thinking I might try to play this one until I've leveled out in all the skills and taken all the perks, just to see what it's like to be so relentlessly OPed. So I'll have to get those 1H and Block skills leveled up sooner or later. Also I did just stumble across an ebony shield and I'm playing much more with found or received stuff this time around. I improve them but most of my forging goes into making cool stuff for followers.
Somehow I always end up plkaying the same kind of character, doing the same kind of tactcis, perks, living in the same places. Think I am a creature of habit. Sword, dagger, bow, sneaking, ruling my gang. That'S it for me.
Same here, I'm just much happier playing a certain type of character. Even my supposed "assassin/thief" build ended up in Dragonscale armor with high end melee weapons by the end of that playthrough, altho I did use the Nightingale stuff a lot once I got it.

Have fun with Oblivion and the Shivering Isles. Old games, but still very solid and charming, I love them. In the germane dition, Sheogorath was spoken by a very well-known stage and movie actor here, Mario Adorf. One could feel and hear how much fun he had to speak those monologues and dialogues for that insane lil' basterd. And the games imo still look awfully good. The forests around Chorrol still are a sight to see.
The jump from Skyrim back to Morrowind imo just is too huge today, regarding visuals. When i tried it two years ago, I just did not get warm. I also prefer the more realistic natural ambient of the later games.
And if you still want more, be sure to try the Nehrim total conversion for Oblivion.
Only played it few hours before Skyrim was released, but it was awesome. :yep:

BTW, Frau, you have found that secret room in Mist Top, yes?
Another good one, nice eye fodder, is Roriksberg. And Dragon's Manor, very close to Mist Top.
Nice to see, but almost impossible to play (makes the game crashing if run with another house or world enhancement mod, is The Garden of Zen. Looks marvellous.
By pics, Riverside Lodge, new, looks very great too, but like most other mods I cannot get it running, the game ctd-ed every time I tried. Most world mods do that for me, due to some famous renaming bug in the Skyrim engine that Bethesda hopefully will fix one day.
Mist Top has several chests and manequins, and a complete forge, enchanter, shrine of thalos, dragon mask shrine, safe, and several weapons holders, so I do not see what your problem is with lacking functionality. But more than functionality the mod is about mood. It simply is "gemütlich". The isolation adds to that. There are quite some very big houses, complete castles, two or three with dozens of manequines and chests etc. But it feels cold, and uncomfortable. Nice to see what people have build, but does not really touch my heart. Thjat'S why I prefer smaller homes like Hunter'S Cab, Mist Top, or - to get a hold in the far West - the Hidden farm at Karthwasten. Just to have a safe haven with some chests and reserves there. Of the five default homes, I only like the one in Riften very much.

Oh absolutely... there's no doubt that visually it's stunning, and the mood there is wonderful. And there are lots of things that are functional, I just don't like having so much other "stuff" that normally would serve a purpose or be movable but that does nothing but clutter things up (albeit in a beautiful way). Lots of bookcases but already books stacked on them that are just for looks, you can't see what they are or pick them up to move them or read them, so they're basically just taking up space. If you wanted to store other actual game books on those shelves, you're out of luck. There was lots of stuff like that. Or maybe it was just a glitch in my installation... I don't know, I reloaded once with it still there and there was no difference. Most of what I ran the crosshairs over was non-interactive.
Plus the inside was just way too small for my tastes. I could never stay there long much less have a follower in there with me, even if I could get one to go there and I suspect it's not properly set up for that at all. Breezehome is too crowded for me, lol, I have a mod that removes the wall/door between the main room and the alchemy lab and I keep using it even though it has some glitches because it's the only one I've found that opens up the space without doing a bunch of other stuff I don't want.
Also when I read about the location, somehow I was hoping it would be closer to High Hrothgar. I need to see if there's something that adds a player home up there, even if it was quite small I wouldn't care that much. Just someplace secluded to hang out when I want to visit there. I can sleep in HH but I'd rather have some digs of my own. Also Ulfric and I will need someplace secluded and romantic to go on our honeymoon. :O:

Closer to Iverstatt? There is a mod that adds a castle on the northern shore of the lake thnat is east of Iverstatt. "Riftborg" is the name, I think. There is also an older version of the mod named "mountain castle" or somethign with mountain in it - this one you do not want, it is old. It lacks originality, but is anything but small. Has its own guards and servants.
However, many homes have issues with spouses and followers entering them and living there, it's written to be another internal bug of Skyrim.
And another bug is that some places have immense clipping issues, and/or do not display the walls properly when approaching. Reason unknown. Solution: Save and leave the game, then restart it with that save game, and all will be visible. You can also try to load the saved game just wiothout leaving the gamed. Or you do a quick travel to some place and then immediately back to the original place you came from.

No, I don't really want anything that adds a bunch of NPCs that are going to be hanging around getting in my way and making pointless conversation when I'm "at home" trying to do stuff. A manor with guards outside might not be bad, but extra people inside? Ugh. You're talking to someone who once sent three housecarls to the Blades just to get them out from underfoot, and would've sent a fourth if the game allowed it. Added NPCs is one reason I stopped using the Dovahkiin Hideout mod, I don't need some random idiot standing over me for 20 minutes repeating "Need something?" while I'm at the alchemy table trying to mix potions.
With regard to location, I was thinking more of an addition to High Hrothgar itself that would be like a special residence of the Dragonborn. Or something up on the mountain itself, anyway. That would be "special" enough to add into the game for me, I'm not after just another place to hang my hat.
I found one that appears to be an addition to HH, and one that is a little cabin perched up on the Throat of the World. The first one appears to be pretty big and complicated and the latest version of it has added NPCs and live-in Greybeard "initiates" who are actually merchants - again, ugh. I liked the second one better since it's not really designed to be a primary residence, but it's fairly old and I'm not sure about the looks of the place, I don't mean it's ugly but I'm not sure if it looks like it belongs there or like something that was just slapped onto the existing landscape with little thought of whether or not it looked like it was actually built on the spot. Or whether or not followers can get in and out without issues, and that's a must for me.
However, many homes have issues with spouses and followers entering them and living there, it's written to be another internal bug of Skyrim.
Modded in stuff, yes, but I've had no issues with the original five homes. And not all additional, mod created abodes have that issue so it's not a "given" that is determined by some fault in the game itself as far as I can tell. I won't even download something that doesn't say it's follower-friendly. The follower mod I have allows multiple followers and I can take them home and tell one to "relax" in that place and just leave him/her there indefinitely, for all practical purposes it's like they live in that house until I tell them to follow me again or dismiss them entirely. That option isn't very effective if they can't get in the place to begin with, lol.

Here is hope too that the author will increase the functionality of the mod.
I try again with the Riverlodge now, I just like it by the looks. I will deactivate Riverside Extreme (or somethign like thatr) and the Hunter'S Cab as well, and hope that when Riverlodge is the only entranc ein that area, it then will work. If not - return to former status.
That must be one of the most annoying bugs in Skyrim. Bethesda really should fix it.
I also hope that any further update to Skyrim will not make some of these mods unplayable.

Ah, Riverside Enhanced is the one messing it up. Riverside Lodge works without RE active.
And it works great! As nice as Mist Top, but more functionality, and bigger in size. Definitely one of the best homes out there. Beautiful, great view.
And a functional sauna! The author must be a Fin.
Well, some losses in Riverside Village then, the improvemements were unspectacular and sometimes not thjat obvious - but now that they are gone I see the losses. Which speaks for the quality of RE.
Frau, try this Lodge, regarding size and places to store stuff in, it may fit your needs. And as I said, it looks beautiful. Just the sense of gemütlich isolation I have in Mist Top is not that that intense here - both Whiterun and Riverside are close by.

I think I tried it once already, some time ago... I did have a mod that added a lodge style house on the river between Whiterun and Riverwood. But I have the house in Whiterun already, I don't need another that close by.
I may look again at the one near Ivarstead (Ivarstatt). If it has NPCs inside that I don't want I can just delete them, I guess. Of course I could also do that with the one on HH itself. At any rate I probably won't want a "special" Dragonborn estate until I've progressed a bit more with this character.

I think that Lodge is relatively new, but I am not certain. You can compare it via the two videos I posted above. It allows followrs inside. I have two, and a dog, inside, both floors.
Riftborg was bigger, and followers can navigate inside. But they choose their own miracle way to get from outside inside, and vice versa. Due to the size, the few NPC inside are no problem. The guards are outside on the wall anyway.
But it was no place for me. Too sterile, imo.

Screencap of the day!
So I finally got the chance to prove myself and become an official member of the Companions. On the way to my assignment a dragon flew down over the tundra and circled for a while, but didn't attack. Then it headed off towards Fort Greymoor and attacked my Stormcloak buds who have taken over the joint. By the time I ran in to help it had landed inside the fort and killed at least two of my comrades. But we killed it where it stood.
Anyway, after that little diversion Farkas and I headed straight to Dustman's Cairn to fetch a chunk of some really old dead dude's axe. It was a tough assignment but we finally prevailed against all foes and headed back to Whiterun in triumph. On the road just east of the fort a thief had the audacity to accost me and demand my valuables. Being gifted in the art of persuasion, I managed to convince him that I was a veritable pauper and then the perfidious loon was foolish enough to turn his back on me and walk away. Not so fast, evildoer! was my only thought as I let out a gigantic Fus Ro Dah and sent him flying into the distance.
By the time he recovered and was back on his feet, my trusty friend Farkas had already descended on him with all the fury of a man who is constantly being picked on and demeaned by even his closest friends. (But not me. Me, he likes.) Being even more of a fool than I first thought, the thief attempted to escape in my direction and ran straight into the business end of the Axe of Eastmarch.

Okay, I just thought this was hilarious for some reason. My character was back home in Windhelm and needed to do some shopping, so I took Meeko along with me. Went to the Palace to pay my respects to the Jarl and told Meeko to wait because I needed to pay a call on Wuunferth.
Now you know how when you approach some NPCs, Jarls on their thrones for instance, once you get close enough they will turn and look at you and just wait for you to engage them. Well, after I walked away from Meeko I happened to look back and realized that once I got far enough away, Ulfric stopped looking at me and was looking at Meeko instead. And he just kept watching him. From a distance it was like they were having this cute little moment. Or else Ulfric was trying to figure out why I'd left this mutt for him to babysit while I went about my business.

I thought Meeko should spend some more quality time with his future daddy, so I just let them carry on while mommy had a late breakfast.
http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/3958/meekoulfric4.jpg
I think maybe Meeko is petitioning the Jarl for a city-wide ban on the sale of dogmeat. Also:

Frau, you definitely add an interesting... "touch" to Skyrim and these forums. :O:
Anyways, I've started my Mage finally.
He is a Breton Mage named Aurane(randomly chosen name, wasn't planning on it rhyming with arcane). Aurane was born in Evermor, his mother a mage, his father a humble shopkeeper. From a young age, magic has been a part of his life. He grew up with his mother telling him of far off places, and wondrous magical tales. This peaked his curiosity to the point that, when he was old enough he left home to see the world for himself, and learn as much as he can about magic.
In his travels he has visited Hammerfall, Valenwood, Elsywher, and Cyrodiil. While staying in Cyrodiil he learned about the College of Winterhold and decided this would be his next destination. Crossing the Cyrodiil-Skyrim border, didn't go as planned and he was captured along side Ulfric Stormcloak, and his followers(plus a horse thief). After nearly having his head chopped off, he's not too happy with the Imperials.
Barely leaving Helgen with his life, he followed Ralof to Riverwood. Visiting the local trader he learned that bandits had recently stolen the owner's Golden Claw, and decided he'd help this poor fellow out. He headed straight towards Bleak Falls Barrow. What will he find inside?
In other news, I was attacking the bandits outside of the Barrow, it was 4 to 1. The first bandit went down to my flames, and was quickly re-animated as a zombie. The second and third also went down in flames, and about this point the first one had finally picked up her weapon and joined the fight. I stood there and watched as she delivered a death blow to the final Bandit. I then turn to look away from the screen to read a steam message, out of nowhere I hear a Unhhh that sends shivers down my spine and makes me quickly look at the screen thinking something was going to get me. At this point I realize the "Zombie" part of this spell wasn't just in it's name. Apparently re-animated corpses moan like zombies. :haha:

Too late, Ulfric and Eydis are already engaged. :O:
And I already know what he's getting for a wedding present, it'll be that full set of very rare Blades armor and a Blades sword that I found when I opened up Sky Haven Temple for Delphine and Esbern. I'm not sure what he's getting me yet but I have the very distinct feeling that it will be the Jagged Crown, since my bringing it to him was sort of the start of our courtship. And it seems like an appropriate helm for the nation's #1 dragonslayer and future queen.
For the honeymoon I think we're going to go see if there are any Thalmor still skulking around their old embassy, and then maybe kill the dragon up on Mt. Anthor that his city guards won't stop talking about. Also I think we will probably go eliminate the Boethiah cultists that have set up camp here in Eastmarch, especially seeing as how one of them tried to kill him after the Battle of Solitude.
Unfortunately the wedding will probably not take place until Eydis can cure herself of lycanthropy because she hasn't gotten up the nerve to tell him that she let Aela and Skjor talk her into becoming a werewolf. This is why Meeko always comes along to sleep at the foot of the bed in the Palace when she visits... just so she has a fall guy (er... fall dog?) if she accidentally howls in her sleep. Or poops on the rug.

I prefer more subtle city mods, I use for example Beautiful Rifton and Beautiful Whiterun. They do not change the basic scheme of the various landscape regions. Whiterun and Rorikstatt are in a somewhat desolate, empty tundra, and it makes no sense to make it look like the forests of Falkreath, or Rifton.
To make regions look similiar just reduces the variety of schemes and moods of the various landscapes, me thinks.
Anyhow, I'm currently a freelance adventurer. Lot of hunting tours, with survival camps in the tundra. Me, two girls, and a dog.
That's me.

sometimes, all the grass and bushes I mean. Meeko's presence helps.

So I'm slowly trying to get used to the creation kit and I'm currently trying to build my own house as a tutorial (I know, original aren't I?.) Finally figured out that Static beds and furniture are different from the ones the player can use...Duh....but I'm getting there. A lot of it reminds me of the kit for NWN2 which remains my favourite in any game, and my eventual goal is to build an underground city but I'm quite a while away from doing that.
Does anyone know a good method of getting coordinates from the game to use in the CK? It's a bit of a pain navigating around exterior areas and I'd rather just scout locations in the game and jot down the coords.

MARRYING ULFRIC STORMCLOAK
Part 3
Well, the honeymoon has been eventful so far. We went for a hike up Mount Anthor to see if we could find the dragon that the guards back in Windhelm won't shut up about. On the way, I spotted a snow sabrecat up ahead and managed to get one arrow into it before it saw me.
Unfortunately one wasn't enough and it immediately charged right at me, claws out and fangs all agleam for the kill. I got off another shot which gave me a fantastic killcam, but just before it cut away to that I saw a blurry shape out of the corner of my eye and the when killcam ended, I looked up to see this:
http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/8686/igotyourbackandyourfron.jpg
Yep, he actually ran all the way up from where he was trailing behind me and put himself directly between me and the big angry kitteh. Honestly I don't know how he didn't get nailed by the second arrow himself. Is he awesome, or what?
And speaking of awesome, did I say we were looking for a dragon? OH HELL YEAH.
http://youtu.be/QZj2w00NnLI
It's my first ever video what I maded on my computin' machine! I knew I spent that money on a media suite for a reason. :know:
Ulfric is really good trash talker, I swore I wasn't gonna abuse being able to have him as a follower but... man. It could be hard to give him up. Among my favorites heard this week were "Should I close my eyes? That might even things up" and "You're losing a lot of blood, maybe you should sit down." :haha:
Also, when we came around Mount Anthor towards the Alftand ruins, there was... this... thing. Just hanging in the sky. So I did what any self-respecting Nord would do, I just kept shooting at it until it came down.
http://youtu.be/f4Tui7D-TwY
Then we climbed all the way to the top of Mount Anthor and back down and headed for Whiterun, where I needed to check in at Breezehome and Jorrvaskr. We took a jog over towards Rorikstead to wipe out what remained of the Imperial camp over there and then after that it was off to bed. And when I woke up in the morning what do you think I saw?

Making LOD in CK crashes 99% of the time, the terrain doesn't show up in-game
as it is in the CK, 3rd party tools kiiiinda work but still never been able to get

Yeah, the new DLC for this game kind of disappointed me, too. Vampires and Vampire Hunters. Yawn.
Then again, it's pretty clear this expansion isn't really aimed at me anyway, or my playstyle. My hunter Skoda Wind-Travel just pretty much goes out on the tundra and, well, hunts. And she does it without magic or enhancements. Occasionally she will do a side quest if she stumbles upon one. (Not the MQ, though.)
I pretty much just RPG her to death, really.
I guess she can just kill both these vampire guys if they get in her way. I mean, she kills the Thalmor when she meets them. What's one more target, right?
Vampires and Vampire Hunters.
Really? Vampires are the single most boring trope in modern fantasy and horror be it literature, television, movies or computer games. The attraction of those poncey goth uber-twats is lost on me.
Doubt I'm going to be buying it unless it's very, very cheap.

I know TES vamps are not the same thing, even so I have zero interest in playing as one and I'm already killing them when I find them now so a whole thing devoted to doing that really doesn't seem like something to get worked up about.
I was really hoping for something that would follow up on the political situation with Skyrim and the Empire and the civil war and what happens with the Thalmor, unless the vampire thing turns out to be something of great import with regard to the fate of Skyrim and Tamriel then, meh.

I also admit that this would have been my first choice for a DLC, although I think that it will make it out there eventually. What I hope for in this case is a true sandbox in the Fallout tradition. That is, the ability to actually join the Thalmor and have this campaign to conclusion. It is one of the finest points of New Vegas, in my opinion. I can join the Legion, work for the bad guys and get the bad guy ending. There is no channeling into the inevitable good guy ending. Great stuff, that.
All that aside, I am still happy with what is being presented in Dawnguard.

. The attraction of those poncey goth uber-twats is lost on me.

I concur.
I am excited about this DLC. Vampirism is grossly underpowered in vanilla Skyrim. I look forward to this being a viable alternative to Lycanthropy.
:haha: And here i've been viewing Skyrim itself as an alternative to the usual vampirism. If im going to play a supernatural critter from horror movies, I'll be a damn werewolf because vampires are way overdone. That and im just a dog lover at heart. :O:

I usually play a stealth-based character, and vampirism is good for that. The problem is that the downsides of vampirism (constant management, weakness in daylight, lack of other useful boosts) make it almost silly to use. I find myself going to the Companions just to get the lycanthropy as a boost (I play on the highest difficulty), even if that would not make sense for my Imperial assasin, my Khajiit thief or my Breton necromancer. An alternative for those characters would be welcome, which this DLC would seem to provide.

I wonder if the Dawnguard are related to the Vigilants of Stendarr.

That interviewer lost all credibility at the end when he asked Todd if there was going to be werewolves in the game...
