First trip of the summer to our cottage, sunny and warm as heck (14th of May IIRC).
I don't know why, but Dowly's pose in that picture reminds me of something... I wonder what it could be...

Lionclaw comes from me being born in early August, hence "Lion". Just added claw to it as it sounded nice at the time when I came up with the username.
And if you're wondering about my name, it's Finnish. I was born in Sweden though.
My parents are from Finland, :)
I live in a town in the northern half of Sweden a few kilometres inland from the coast. Yes I know, not really an exact location. :O:

No, it was a 12-string acoustic guitar. Same as a regular guitar, but with each string doubled, and the lower 4 an octave higher than the main strings. Plays exactly the same, but sounds like two.
As for playing, after 40 years at it I still consider myself a hack. I've played in clubs and used to know hundreds of other people's songs. These days we only play our own music, some of which is in the link in my sig, and some live stuff via YouTube and typing in Monkey Rum.

Now I really AM jealous-er - I am SO ready to move into high country and quit this lowlander life.
First time I was ever in Albuquerque, I was maybe 10 years old, and we went up via the tram. A few years later, went back at the age of 15, and rode up the road in my uncle's van at night, with the lights off - mom was freaking out, I loved it... just amazing seeing everything at night.
So I've really only been there twice, for short stays both times - but yeah, it stuck with me. Those trips were ~25 & 30 years ago, but I can remember the second one like it was yesterday.
I grew up back east (CT) and I get claustrophobic visiting there now. I'm used to a view out the other direction where you could throw CT out on the mesa like a throw rug :)
Actually, I have a pic someplace on my server...

Like I said, it's been many, many moons since I was out there, but I seemed to remember being able to see the lights of Santa Fe in the far distance when I was at the peak. Am I remembering that right? Or was that another town? I know that the lights of Alby pwned the base of the mountain - which was impressive on its own, but I was speechless at the sheer amount of DARK between where I was standing and those lights far out on the horizon.
CT to NM? Yeah, I can dig that. I fell in love with the mountains out there; was in SoCal last year and swore to my wife that we're moving into the mountains out west as soon as we can. She grew up in Estes Park, CO, so she just laughs at the Appalachians.
Yeah, from the crest you can see Santa Fe.
A girl I dated years ago was friends with a couple that worked in the gift shop at the top (the one you can drive to). There is an apartment in that building, and it has a hot tub. We used to stay in the guest room, often, and that hot tub has the best view... it's literally on the edge of a cliff, 4500 feet above ABQ.

It's a shame that we rely so heavily on cod over here as well, there are so many beautifully flavoured and textured fish living in our waters which are largely ignored. Fish and chips, even though nice, has destroyed the market for different types of fish to be sold. Everyone loves cod (including myself) but it would be nice to see people experimenting :) And pike is rather nice, but you do get a bone in pretty much every bite, definitely one worth trying though
No thanks, my training has been centered around disarming someone with said weapon....here in the UK the most popular food fish dish is Cod :yep: Just so you know if you want to try the fish, my training has been to disarming all, even if he goes around carrying a bag of illegal cod (cod is OK) :DL

Well, we went into the studio last week. It doesn't look like an official studio, because it isn't, but the guy is one of the best I've met, and he's doing a fantastic job so far.
But we got some pictures, so here's yet another of me with the 6-string Peavey bass, between takes.

Hi all,
60 years old and banging on relentlessly.
Born of a English soldier who joined up at 15 years of age for fight in WW2. After the war Joe brought home the best German women in the world and married her, Erica my dear ol mum.
Favourite moments: Spenting my youth traveling between England and Germany as a boy, summers spent on German farms near Oldenburg learning how men talked and drank beer together. Listening to the stories about the war from both sides and how men are men which ever uniform they wear. Observing the healing process first hand, the wonder and excitment of human beings, being all they can be. To hear a German ex-soldier with a becks bier in hand proclaim, we lost the war because we did not have Churchill, the laughter still warms me and the lesson is clear.
Back in Engand I worked in engineering building machings that put beer into kegs, how great is that, heh. Best place I ever worked, Ireland, where I was taught about the crack and the meaning of life, how to take a joke and buy the next round, I love those guys, heh.

Age: 17 - although it isn't like it matters much. I'm as old as I act, which is somewhere between 5 and 57 on a given day.
About me:
I guess I was forced to grow up too fast. But anyhow - I love reading history books, taking my Mustang to car shows, and working on all things automotive.
And aviation, as my sig suggests.
And submarines - or else I wouldn't be making this post

Age: 22 (yet I've been told I look 15, it's okay, that will come in handy later!)
How I found Subsim? Technically can I say Subsim "found" me? HAHAHAH.
About me: I aspire to become a teacher! Majoring in Psychology and will hopefully graduate next year.
The kitchen toaster became an inferno and died when I tried to make toast. True story.
My dad (Mr. Neal) is so awesome, he's invincible. I also have two awesome sisters, rockin' grandparents, a loveable doggy, and a superstar mom.
I'm also dating an amazing guy although he lives in the UK so I rent a sub twice a year to sail the deadly seas just to be with him! (Okay okay, maybe an airplane is involved and usually he flies here)
I'm very interested in art, foreign languages (I took 2 years of french in college recently, german in hs), cute animals (mostly cats & piggies), and dad says I have the prettiest blue eyes :)
I'm very grateful for what I have (but presents are awesome). My favorite movie is The Village and I like long walks on the beach and lots and lots of other stuff. I'm on a horse.

I think you've hit on it, Jim. That whole thing about being offline whilst moving was just a clever ruse to avoid telling us about what really happened... the old "snip snip." No doubt the sudden onset of baldness is a side effect of the hormone injections.
Sailor Steve

I thought it was the other way around. There are injections that will make your hair grow, but the side-effects can be "interesting".
On the other hand if you're talking about injections that fix certain problems but cause hair loss, well, hair is highly overrated.

Reminds me of a joke I heard Redd Foxx tell once (don't worry I'll clean it up a little):
A lady was having some medical problems, so she went to see her doctor. The doctor listened as she detailed all her symptoms, then started writing out a prescription.
"I know exactly what to do," he told her. "I know it sounds crazy, but all of us have both male and female hormones in our bodies to regulate certain things. What's happening here is that your body isn't producing enough male hormones and everything's out of balance. Now you just fill this prescription and start taking these hormone pills and I'm sure you'll be right as rain in no time. Call me in a couple of weeks and let me know how you're doing."
The lady thanked him, took the prescription, and left the office. A couple of weeks later she called as instructed.
"Well," the doctor asked, "how are things going? Feeling better, I hope."
"Yes, doctor, I'm feeling better in general," the lady replied. "But I don't think this treatment is going to work for me. I just don't like the side effects at all."
"Side effects? What kind of side effects?" the doctor asked.
"Well, I've started growing hair on my chest and all over my belly," the patient answered.
"That's very unusual," the doctor said. "Hair on your chest? And your belly too? Are you sure?"
"Oh yes, doctor. It goes all the way down to my penis."

But the treatment was correct, the doctor fixed all femine problems in her by turning her into a man :har:
Now she will have to deal with masculine ones, and I'm still in doubt about which are worser :hmmm:

No offense taken, I think that's what most people would say.
I for one just appreciate the ease of maintenance of short hair a lot more now. I might never be growing it out again for that alone :D

When I had my hair long the last time I started feeling foolish. I mean at MY age? So I shaved my head like I always do this time of year, and a week later I saw a guy with a white ponytail and a white beard, and I thought "Man he looks cool!" :damn:

I remember one blogger I used to like a lot talking about the "men of a certain age with ponytails" phenomenon that she was observing in a lot of her local hangouts. She said the thought that always ran through her head when she encountered it was "dude, give it up... the band is NOT getting back together." :O:
Of course in your case that really doesn't apply, so.... :D
