It was a win even if they only got a draw- especially when your team are playing at Old Trafford

But he was in action for Serbia last night in their 2-1 friendly defeat to France and the 20-year-old found himself on the scoresheet.

Not that he will have known much about it mind, the ball having bounced off him and into the net from close range.

Got this football scenario in my mind

An English football player is standing on the right side of the opponent goal and he has only to kick the ball into the goal. He take a look on his left side and see Rooney standing at penalty point with 5-6 players from the other team. Instead of kicking the ball into the goal he pass the ball to Rooney and the ball is taken by a player from Switzerland.

Have seen such type of play before- They pass the ball to some important player instead of either pass it to some one who's in better position or are at the right place them self.

Football can sometimes be an amazing experience both on-site or via TV. To see your team win can be great and if they lose, well that's what happens.

To have a favorite team is really quite OK, there is however, those who should stay away from this and only spend their spare time knitting.

The day before yesterday there was a player on a Swedish team that unfortunately came to score an own goal.

It's sad for the player and for the team, when something like this happens

It is even more sad when this player's children and wife receives death threats. Not so long after the own goal, received his wife and children threats by phone. The threat was directed against him and his family.

As said some should stick to knitting.

A fair and balanced piece on the TOON

It seems the conventional wisdom on Newcastle right now is that we have good players, we are playing some good football and we have a good team – we just need to gel and then the results (wins) will come – no problem.

Here´s a contrarian view to that.

We had a great victory at home to Norwich when we won 6-2 – but that was touch and go until the last 30 minutes after it was 3-2 and Norwich had been pressing for the equalizer in the seocnd half.

So we keep hearing that Newcastle are getting better and we will be OK in the league – but there are too many times when we fall short in a game and get nothing out it.

The three red cards in the first half against Swansea, Arsenal and Sunderland meant we were beaten in all three games and didn´t manage to score a goal.

The Sunderland game – we were the better side – but still managed to lose it 3-0.

We have put in some good performances this season at home to the Saints, Arsenal and Chelsea and we got just 2 points from those games.

We allowed late equalizing goals against Southampton and Chelsea and that cost us 4 points and we played well against Arsenal to lose only 1-0, but we had Mitrovic sent off after 16 minutes.

Who beats Arsenal with 10 men?

At some point this season we have to start winning some games on a regular basis.

Results then become more important than the performances.

Steve McClaren has concentrated on the performances so far and he says the performances will produce the results and that he doesn´t want to look at the league table.

Would he have wanted to look at the league table if we were in the top four at the moment?

We have 6 points from 10 games which is our second worst start to a season ever – and we have to go back to 1898 to find the only worse start than that to a season.

That´s when we had four draws from the first 10 games, but then we won the 11th game when we hammered Liverpool at home 3-0 – so 7 points from the first 11 games.

The game at home to Stoke City on Saturday is crucial and we wonder what will crop up in that game that could prevent us from winning it?

Newcastle need wins and the results have to start taking precedence soon.

We will be a lot happier when we can get some of those Ws on the board – hopefully in the next few games.

Until then playing well and losing for whatever reason gets a little bit boring – and frustrating too.

I can understand there are some people who wants to be FIFA President

I have a much better idea, it will not give them who are selected lots of pocket money and it will not give them any political or sports like power(know it sound wrong, but can't find the correct phrase)

Instead of writing a whole roman I'm just giving you the start of it.

Lets use England for an example.

In England 10 Sports journalist picks 10 former football player etc who they think would be a good Representative for England in FIFA. When they have picked these 10 known persons, its up to the ordinary English citizens to give their vote on who they want to represent England in FIFA. This voting shall be done every 4/5 years and a candidate can only run two times-If The journalist picks him or her a second time.

His or Her title will be Secretary to England in FIFA(or whatever they chose to call them)

Salary=Around the world every Representative will be earning the same.

That's some of my idea.

Chelsea board of directors discussed the situation this morning but no announcement has been made.

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea future is in question following discussions about his position between the London club's board of directors.
Owner Roman Abramovich led the talks after the champions were beaten 2-1 at Leicester on Monday.
It was their ninth Premier League defeat in 16 games and left them a point above the relegation places.
It is not clear whether Mourinho will be in charge for Saturday's home game against fellow strugglers Sunderland.

Well with my rose-tinted glasses on I will say it is a good draw. To win it, you probably have to go through Barcelona so best to get at it early. Beat them and we have confidence, lose and we are able to focus on a title race that is heating up nicely (Arse up 2 - 0 to Man City at halftime as I type this).

News this morning that Newcastle have had a £13m bid turned down for Italian international, Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Italian media.

Sky Sports journalist Manuele Baiocchini, says that Newcastle offered 17m euros (approx £13m) plus bonuses for the striker but Napoli have turned it down. Last season he scored a decent 15 Serie A goals for Sampdoria/Napoli from only 19 league starts (plus 13 sub appearances), which made him the fifth top scorer in the Italian top division. - See more at: http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/01/newcastle-have-13m-bid-for-italian-international-striker-turned-down-reports/#sthash.E4hvQCLz.dpuf

Then further reading gives cause for concern...

However, this season Gabbiadini has struggled for game time and only made one Serie A start and eight as a sub, scoring one goal.

The usual. An owner who thinks challenging for titles is too expensive and a manager who believes he is only judged on the financial bottom line. Frustrating when in the summer they say there are literally hundreds of millions available to buy players and they spend 10mil.

I don't think there will be much to stop Leicester now. I should probably be more upset by Arsenal bottling it (we were in 1st at the beginning of January), but small teams having big successes is what the league pyramid system is about. TOON are precisely where there pitiful season performance dictates they should be.

Sunderland knew they had a problem early on and appointed an experienced manager who was capable of making the key decisions in a timely fashion.

Newcastle knew similarly but Lee Charnley (Managing Director), ably supported by Graham Carr (Chief Scout) and owner Mike Ashley dillied and dallied over sacking Steve McClaren for far too long before bringing in Rafa Benitez who is widely acknowledged in the sport as being a world class coach......but far too late to make a substantial difference.

It is easy to point out the TOON spent more money than any other team in the Premiership this season. The problem being, how it was wasted or to be polite 'spent unwisely'.

Hopefully Charnley and Carr will move on and Ashley will make the correct decision seeing as Championship rules state you can't have a financial interest in more than one club.

Will he sell his shares in Rangers or sell the TOON?

I fear the former but I'd much prefer the latter.

Could be we now slip into relative obscurity as happened to a once upon a time big club like Leeds but going into freefall mode is a distinct possibility if Rafa leaves and quick remedial action isn't forthcoming.

See you just have to have faith in how much the fates hate Tottenham :)

Thank you TOON, thank you, thank you!!

Happy St. Totteringham's Day :har:

Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro settles her dismissal case. Good for her, she must have received a tidy sum when you consider she originally turned down an offer of £1.2 million.

Former Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro has settled her dismissal claim against the club on confidential terms.
Dr Carneiro, who claimed constructive dismissal against Chelsea, also reached a discrimination settlement against the club's former manager Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea said it apologised "unreservedly" to the former first team doctor for the distress caused.

Which is precisely why he was at the tribunal today and followed the clubs lead by offering a settlement one can only presume.

A big step backwards for English international football me thinks, I didn't think things could get any worse after that muppet Hodgson was put in charge..... but it just did. :/\\!!

Sunderland to be relegated next season could be worth a punt, and I'll include them in a x bet and double with Newcastle to be promoted. :yep:

Hmmm I wonder what price they are, Sunderland 5/2 is the overall average and Newcastle is 8/13, its worth a £20 for a bit of fun me thinks.

The Rafalotion is going as planned

Not sure I want to know what Rafalotion is, but I surely don't want any. :)

But the Rafalution I can get behind. I expect they'll bounce back up. When Benitez didn't jump ship after going down I reckoned their odds were good, especially if they manage to hold on to Sissoko. Not sure who they might lose before the window closes?

Jimbuna, whatever became of Adam Campbell? I mean I know he's signed for Notts County, but why did he never cut it at Newcastle? It's not like they are a revolving door of amazing strikers. Cisse and Demba Ba had a couple of decent seasons, but I fully expected Campbell would break in to the first team, but never did.

Too lightweight? Not clinical enough? Pardew couldn't see him through his own gleaming reflection? What in your opinion was the reason he didn't break through?

Jimbuna
08-27-16, 03:22 PM
Simple answer is Pardew didn't like him but having said that, there were a few more he didn't like during his tenure and Adam Armstrong is one of the few to survive.

As for the traitor Sissoko, he appears content to sit it out and make negative comments for the press to publish but little does he appear to want to understand that top clubs prefer to buy those players who are consistent on the field rather than on what they say off it.

He may yet be off to Everton rather than AC Milan:

Everton could use him. I used to think of him as a CM, but I really can't say what his best position is. Not a winger, and not an ideal attacking midfielder. I think I'd play him as a CM and given him license to roam box to box. Newcastle have played him all over the pitch it seems. He'd make a fine partner for Barkley I imagine. I get the feeling you won't be sorry to see him leave?

Trouble is, when you sell this late, you don't have time to find a replacement.

So you think Campbell would have broken in to the first team if it weren't for Pardew?

Jimbuna
08-27-16, 03:43 PM
Possibly but hard to say really because as you rightly pointed out there were already a few decent strikers at the club.

Newcastle are close to adding Palermo left-back Achraf Lazaar to the Saturday signing of striker Daryl Murphy, according to a report.

Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy revealed on Saturday evening that Murphy handed in a transfer request earlier in the day and will complete a switch to the Championship big hitters.

http://www.footballinsider247.com/newcastle-close-to-signing-lazaar/?

Lazaar was in the stands for todays match and Murphy will probably conclude the transfer business for this time round.

Well, looks as though Sissoko is off to somewhere, Spurs?

Not sure why Spurs want him, or more to the point, who will sit to get him games. I suppose Ali's always a moment of madness from a red, and Eriksen is enigmatic and inconsistent. But they bought Wanyama, have Dier, Dembele, Lamela, Ali. Maybe they want to fill their Chadli-sized hole on the bench?

The real shocker for me is the Luiz to Chelsea move. Seriously? Is Miazga so raw that he couldn't have been a 4th option at center-half?

Jimbuna
08-31-16, 01:23 PM
Spurs won't meet the asking price of £30 million so the deal looks dead (reminds me of Levy doing the same thing when we were after Townshend).

Everton are currently the only club showing an interest.

I hope the lazy traitor does leave.

Yes, but Newcastle could drop that price. Unless they want Sissoko on the books on Premier League wages, all the while looking sullen and disinterested.

Everton seems a better fit for Sissoko anyway, but 30 million?

Lots of moves on deadline day.

Jimbuna
09-01-16, 07:16 AM
Nope, no drop in price and after Spurs (Levy) withdrew the offer, Everton quickly stepped in and matched the asking price and the players personal terms forcing Levy to 'blink' first and quickly matching what Everton had offered.

Spurs can offer what Sissoko craves (Champions League football), not that they'll win it like.

So, in the end, £30 million for a player that cost a little under £2 million and of a character that he is prone to losing interest in the hand that feeds him isn't bad business, especially for the TOON.

Mike Ashley won the latest (second game of bluff with Levy) but no doubt there will be more games in the future.

I'll wait and see how long it is before Sissoko becomes disenchanted at Spurs.
