I'm going out on a limb here. I'm pretty sure there's not many opera fans on this forum.... but you never know, there might be some....people get old and their tastes change....

This 1995 lavish film version of Puccini's Madame Butterfly is pretty damn good.

A precursor of Miss Saigon??

Das Boot(in German)
Seven Samurai
Yojimbo

Yes! "Sanjuro," like "Seven Samurai" and "Yojimbo," is another great Kurosawa movie with Toshiro Mifune, and "Le Chant du Loup" (Wolf's Call) is a thrilling French sub movie centering on a sonar man.

I've been thinking about a horror movie lately I just can't remember the title of it. I do remember some scene from it and I think there were made a few of these movies with the same actor.

The movie(s) is from the 80's maybe early 90's

It's about an evil sorcerer.

In one of the scene he is in prison and one of the inmate ask him if he can get him out which the sorcerer can-But the inmate is being forced through the metal gitter and dies of course.

There's another scene where he boil something to make him fly-I think he use baby fat as one of the ingrediens(no you do not see the baby get killed)

Edit
I found it-had to make the correct search. The title of the movie is Warlock from -89.
End edit

Does anyone of you know who I should contact when it comes to making movies.

I have this crazy idea to a horror movie.

The red line in the movie is that it shall be filmed like it was a live transmission.
Like it was real what viewers are seeing.

I need CNN to take part and the film shall be filmed in Antarctica or northern Canada.

I have the Thing in my mind..viewers will see scientist and others on spot being infected and start to change into creatures.

Batgirl bites the dust, Warner Bros finally pulls the plug on this load of tripe, it cost them about $90 million dollars to realise that it was a load of rubbish from the get go but that's show business for you, me thinks they should have a total overhaul of their executive management level and wield the axe there as well. :haha:

EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxN1T1uxQ2g

It makes me wonder how this movie got so high a rating?, and then I realised that, most, or all of them, are paid for reviews by the big studios, it's a pretty dubious method of selling a movie but I'm sure they've stooped lower than this in the past.

I cannot believe how confusing, how boring, and how cheesy the movie was, Its a wanna be Matrix movie that takes you back to the same settings over and over again. Come on, lets move on, but No, it keeps repeating itself over and over again, got the message yet.
My screen was very lucky I didn't punch its bleeding lights out, it was only the fact that I'd had enough of this garbage and switched it off that it survived the experience intact. I wish I could give this movie a zero rating but I wont. There was absolutely nothing entertaining about this bleeding rubbish, I wanted to turn it off after 10 minutes but I lasted an hour hoping it would get better but it didn't, on the films behalf I can't even say that it was the worst movie ever as those big studios would prove me wrong again. I wonder if I have to delve into the world of chemicals to get the full effect of these movies, me thinks a trip to the local dealership might be on the cards shortly.

Film Rating 2.42

PS,
The original 3 films of the Matrix got an 8.5 rating, and this genre of film have been going downhill ever since, the Matrix Resurrections movie just barely scraped a 5.5 rating to prove my point. Some of you might like the multiverse type of films, if you do you'll watch this and probably give this movie a much higher rating, I'll look forward to your film rating of it.

Lady Bloodfight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z9TbxogewQ

If you've seen Jean Claude Van Damme in Kickboxer, Lionheart and Bloodsport then this all female version of one might just float your boat.
This film has got nothing original going for it, the Master, or should that be a Mistress these days? trains a young female fighter to be a world class fighter in 3 months, sigh, where have I heard that bleeding bollocks before?, oh never mind, you already know what's going to happen so I'll leave it there. :O:

Film Rating = 5.

It just barely got a 5, I might add, Master\Mistress Shu and the other actresses tried to make an half decent job of a movie that had a poor script to begin with, me thinks they must have found it at the bottom of a cesspit but, it's still worth watching once if you like these type of movies. Oh yes, I nearly forgot, the acting, well, lets just say that none of these actresses are going to win an Oscar for their acting skills, it's a shame as I would have liked to have seen a lot more of Master\Mistress Shu.... if you get my drift. :03::03:

I watched it tonight Markus and I wasn't impressed with it as much as you were, I've just about had enough of Hollywood's version of a femme fatale movie and this is the last superwoman film I'm ever going to watch.
It wasn't the fact that she killed the predator that put me off this movie as the bleeding thing needed killing, it was the fact that she killed about four male trappers in about 10 seconds that almost had me throwing up.

It is watchable once if you like seeing the females kicking male ass, but taking out a predator for dessert after doing just that is not my cup of tea, they really need to get a grip on the bollocks they're serving up to the audience as this bleeding nonsense is getting too far fetched now.

I have to give this load of bollocks a rating so I'll try and be fair about it.

Film Rating 5\10.

mapuc
08-10-22, 05:53 PM
It wasn't so much the female actress but the fact the movie was without muscle men as we saw in the first 2 movies.

You could ask yourself if a teenager would have any chance against an advanced predator from outer space.

I say no of course not.

I would give the movie 6.5/10. For it's innovation

Tradition, Honour, and Duty.......and following your conscience :hmmm:

A bit dated now compared to the more modern remakes, but closer to the times depicted...and people really did talk like that :)

Loved the old general refighting his old battles, funny, mean bugger scaring the living daylights out of the young boy.

Yeah, the series from a few years ago. Not the original.

Definitely not enough U-boat action....in a show about U-boats. The resistance subplot wouldnt have sucked so much if it had an actual tie-in to the story but it was just poorly written.

Agreed, the studio really dug deep to make what could best be called an "oddities" movie. I'm pretty certain they called in George Pal to create the Loch Ness Monster scene. :D Defiantly worth seeing, at least once. Also, one of Barbara Eden's early efforts.

Meanwhile, I wasn't sure where to post this:

I've been studying SAC since the days when I grew up near Loring AFB. They had a very different work culture compared to the rest of the Air Force.
By the 1950's, SAC had its own office inside the US Congress. They lobbied for more funding constantly and were always ready to twist some arms when it was needed. If the Air Force as a whole got more funding, that was just a by-product. :o

In the latest couple of days I have been thinking on this sci-fi movies.

I can't remember the title.

Earth is at war with some aliens and they use human as bombs. During the film you follow some special police force and a man who try to convince them that he is innocent...Until the end of the movie where they find his body on a crash-site..next you see an explosion.

Might have a shot at trying to find the title. Know some folks who are pretty good at this and enjoy it.

Any other details or specifics you recall? The nationality/language, year or decade it was made roughly, colour or black & white, names of any actors, other incidents, costumes, models, CGI etc. It doesn't matter especially but anything helps.

The movie is most likely a Hollywood production and I'm 99% sure the movie if from this side of 2000.

These human bombs doesn't know they are walking bombs they are substitut -It's up to this special unit in Earth policeforce to hunt them down and eliminate them. However this man who is playing the leading role is as mentioned before convince he's innocent and he try to both escape these special forces.

If I could describe the last two minutes of this sci-fi movies in words-The face he makes when he sees himself sitting in this spaceship who has crashed. First they discover his wife and everything seems to be ok until one of these police man finds another "door" and they open it and there he sits dead..Then the camera turn to the leader of this police force and then to this man...his face turns into-Hard to describe and the next you see from the distance a huge explosion where they
are.

Edit
Guess what I found it :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
The title of the movie is Impostor from 2001 and Gary Sinise play the role of this man who is convince he is innocent.

Behold! I have searched the bowels of YouTube and have found nothing less than a..... BOAT MOVIE!! :yep:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuZ191LklKM

A true Boat Movie is not necessarily a good movie, anyone can watch one of those.. :06: While this example does not possess the sought after NC-17 or even a "hard R" rating, it does have a certain something to it. Besides, it was the best the Navy could get its hands on at the time we sailed.

Meanwhile, we're about 1/3 of the way through an extended patrol. We've just secured from a 2 hour "mini field day" to keep the COB and the XO happy :yeah: and we're mostly caught up on our long term quals and division paperwork. Its time to kick back and enjoy something mindless for an hour and a half. :arrgh!:

So, nuke a bag of popcorn in the microwave and fill a coffee mug with ice and artificially sweetened tropical punch (aka: "Red") and get ready to memorize Harvey Keitel's lines. :D

A rare movie, and not the best print, but...beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Based on the stage play of the same name. In the play it's Pizarro's page Martin, now an old man, recounting his association with Pizarro.

But the film is from Pizarro's perspective ( a nice twist ). No spoiiers here :) .

Great authentic costumes/armour, and filmed on location in Spain and Peru. Beautiful scenery  and music.

I finished watching yesterday, very good film. When I saw the trailer I was little suspicious, looked like bad cgi effects for the battles, but the film didn't had that look when such scenes happened, plus, I think they did do many practical effects.

Now, I wanted to re-watch the 80's version, only saw it 2 times and long ago, but I still remember several scenes. I noticed some diferences, but since I never read the book, do not know what version is more accurate.

I also remember a documentary years ago (possible more than 20 - History channel, when the channel had those) about the autor of the book and many of the scenes were from the 80's film.

The last two days I have seen to modern version of Dracula-Both was Wes Craven's Dracula 2000 and Dracula 2.

The best actor to portrait Dracula is Christopher Lee. In my opinion he was the best.

"The Man Who Would Be King" 1975. The full movie......a bit classier than "Superchick" :)

A great story by Rudyard Kipling. Great Cast....Christopher Plummer as Rudyard Kipling, Michael Caine, Sean Connery.

In 1975 2 Classic films came out....this is one of them...the other one is "The Wind And The Lion".

A bit of an action clip from "The Wind And The Lion".

The Wind and the Lion was a great adventure movie, I liked it a lot back then, saw it several times.

"The Virgin Soldiers" 1969.

Here missing the first 4 ? minutes and a wee glitch ( no sound ) at 30.00 for a minute or two....but ....doesn't matter it's a great movie about National Service.

Filmed on location, Malaysia, Singapore, etc.

Some memorable characters :- F Yew, and Juicy Lucy - hooker with a heart of gold. :)

People with too much free time on their hands enjoy making fun of this movie's title.....Maybe there should've been a full stop after Krakatoa ???.....who cares....one for the deep thinkers maybe??? :hmmm::hmmm:

Sod 'em :arrgh!:

Enjoy the movie, it's bleedin' good. The late Brian Keith, a great actor, a very sad end in real life.
