Blue Beetle

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS3_72Gb-bI

It really just makes you wonder why they didn't try to do something a little more creative with the story? Why did they make a movie that a child of 10 could predict what was going to happen next? whatever the reasoning was, it once again marks another miss for the beleaguered DCEU.
The superhero business feels like it’s been on life support for over half a decade now and the best thing they could do with this universe is to kill it off completely and put everyone out of their bleeding misery. Masses of CGI, a poor script and Susan Sarandon camping it up as a badesque villain, wow, this film had it's legs chopped off before it had even got going.

What the studio should have done is rip that scarab beetle out of the film altogether, along with Sarandon and the CGI and just focused a comedy story around that family unit, it would have made it a better film me thinks. The family unit did work quite well together and the actors did their best to get the most out of their characters but with an even better script to go with them it would have been a much better watch than what was offered up.

A "What If" movie..... Col. Custer survives Little Big Horn...barely alive and severely traumatized.....and is put on trial.

A great movie with some stellar performances, Brian Keith for one, and Blythe Danner too. Once again the last 30 mins or so of this clip is duplication.

The tape quality is not the best but the movie is pretty damn good.

So, what the heck is Dark Star? Imagine that the Alien franchise is Tiger Woods. Dark Star would be his slightly older brother who runs a sporting goods store in a Philadelphia mall. :D

Seriously, there are some direct links to Alien in this movie. Just no Sigourney Weaver or Yaphet Kotto, or Harry Dean Stanton. Or much of a budget, to be fair.

Check out the credits, just be aware that those names you recognize weren't quite as famous as they would later be. :O:

Dark Star should have been a "boat flick" but it was much too obscure for its own good. Subversive where it mattered, down-right comedy where it was needed (O'Bannon stated that the scenes between Sgt. Pinback and the pet alien were directly based off the old Roadrunner cartoons where his character filled in for the coyote). :yeah:

Chef
When Chef Carl Casper suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner, he is left to figure out what's next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen -- and zest for life and love.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK-ZUFX5fnk

Finally, something worth watching for once, breezy, lighthearted and relatable, this is what Hollywood has been missing, no, not food but creativity, the cast is great and it has a decent written script to go with it as well. What more could you ask for?, well, Scarlett Johansson bent over the serving hatch would have been good as well but, I'm not going to knock it for not adding that in.

Was it entertaining?, well it did get the top rating of being an average film but that could have been because of that Sara Paxton hottie, it didn't have anything else going for it so I'll put it down to her.

This film was vomit inducing stuff to say the least, I was wracking my brains out trying to remember if I'd seen this movie before because I could see what was going to happen next. Then it hit me, I hadn't seen it before but I remembered watching a film called Miss Meadows a while ago and this film was following the same pattern, but without the killing.

The upshot was I would have ripped the panties off both of those two leading ladies, woohoo, I'm turning into a bleeding pervert, sadly, this film and the other one are bleeding rubbish but, Catherine Bell and that Miss Meadows woman made up for it, one other thing though, I must remember not to watch these two films ever again as I don't think I'd survive the experience.

It Happened To Jane (1959)

In May 1959, in the town of Cape Anne, Maine, an error by the E&P railroad company causes the death of 300 lobsters shipped by entrepreneur Jane Osgood, who runs a business supplying lobsters to restaurants. Jane, a widow with two children, asks her lifelong friend and lawyer George Denham to seek compensation from the railroad after her customer cancels all future orders.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03b5-WJWpNk

First thing first, this movie was absolutely bleeding rubbish, 300 lobsters dying on a bleeding train and they made a film out of it, were they all bleeding crazy in the 1950's, of course they weren't, they were pretty smart people in fact.
How are they smart then clever clogs?, simple you jackass, get a red hot actress to play the leading lady and you've got yourself a hit film, see, you numbskull, they were bleeding smart as ****.
Who wouldn't want to watch a goddess of the silver screen eh, even your bloody girlfriend might have fancied her as well, a win win all round me thinks.
Well what about all the bleeding poofters then?, far too few of them to make a financial impact on the Studio's profits you bleeding idiot, so just stop it with the negativity, if you don't, you'll be losing about half your bloody teeth, get it.
I was too mesmerised watching Doris to care about if the film was good or bad, and besides, even a spider dropped down to get a better look at her, blimey, I didn't know that house spiders had the hots for her as well, the bleeding perverts.

I was very impressed with this film, it was well written and researched and it featured a good cast and it also had Gillian Anderson in it. Anyway, it was a good story with engaging characters, it didn't try to do too much as the quality of the storytelling is all that mattered. This is very intelligent film-making with no need for fancy CGI or some unneeded technological babble that won't be seen by anyone for another hundred years or so. Any dumb heads out there who won't watch a film without there being dead bodies all over the place should give this a miss as there isn't a dead body anywhere, Well done.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhtEi8zX0sM

First of all these jesus freak films are bleeding dangerous to your health and life, in fact the government should round all these script writers up who believe in that nonsense and shoot them all en-masse. If I thought for one minute that faith would be the saviour of the human race I would be the first to jump all over that bandwagon. We have doctors for a reason you know, if we relied on faith to heal everyone the human race would be back in the dark ages in no time at all.

One day a virus might wipe out the world, it will be no use relying on faith and prayer to save you as that will only put you in a coffin, medical science on the other hand will more than likely keep you out of that coffin, and that's why I'm giving this movie the lowest rating that I could ever give a film.

The Bank Job.

Terry is a small-time car dealer trying to leave his shady past behind and start a family. Martine is a beautiful model from Terry's old neighbourhood who knows that Terry is no angel. When Martine proposes a foolproof plan to rob a bank, Terry recognises the danger but realises this may be the opportunity of a lifetime. As the resourceful band of thieves burrows its way into a safe-deposit vault at a Lloyds Bank, they quickly realise that, besides millions in riches, the boxes also contain secrets that implicate everyone from London's most notorious underworld gangsters to powerful government figures, and even the Royal Family. Although the heist makes headlines throughout Britain for several days, a government gag order eventually brings all reporting of the case to an immediate halt.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GovbyP9DkSY

For a Jason Statham film this wasn't so bad, at least I didn't want to switch it off.
I can't remember this bank robbery taking place but, I read up about it in the late 70's, there were some well known MPs who resigned around that time, and criminal bosses were also involved in it. The files on this robbery are still locked away in some government secret vault, I wonder why that is?, could there be an element of truth to some of this, could Princess Margaret be involved?, I don't think we'll ever find out as when these files are about to be released they'll probably be destroyed in the National Interests.

Who's National Interests would that be then?, the Royal Family?, the Government? or some high ranking bent Policemen?. :hmmm:

The Beekeeper

One man’s campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as Beekeepers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzINZZ6iqxY

Jason Statham hardly sets the world on fire in the acting stakes, but he sure can kick butt, there are good, bad and ugly parts to this film, Statham and the action scenes and the two FBI agents were the good part, the dialogue and the editing was the bad and the ending ten minutes was the ugly.

The choreographed action scenes were very good with one man taking on the FBI, SWAT and the Secret Service and leaving them impotent in his wake, that was mighty impressive, a retired operative for a shadowy off the books organisation that operates outside the law, hahaha, just what a bad guy needed to hear.

An FBI agent called Verona and her fellow agent Matt Wiley, spent most of the film chasing (Statham) but they are always one step behind, at least they keep count of the dead bodies until they run out of fingers to count with. Yes, I liked those two agents and I thought they could have got stuck in more but, the writer and director thought differently, they missed an opportunity there me thinks as Verona and Matt would have fitted in far better than they did do.

Wow, the last ten minutes of this film was way Over The Top mayhem, I don't know why the writer thought the film needed this kind of an ending because it didn't need it, if it had been toned down quite a bit I wouldn't have marked the film down as much, to show my displeasure with the ending I've knocked a point off it.

Apart from that, it's a decent film that needed a better editor and director to splice things in more seamlessly and, an extra writer who could have cleaned up the ending a lot more.

I'm thinking there could be a Beekeeper 2 in the near future, if there is, Verona and Matt should feature in it more heavily than they did do in this film.

Film Rating 6\10

Edit
I re-watched this film with the old codgers in the residents communal room, most of them enjoyed the movie, or it could have been the buffet that was provided for them that sealed the deal, and based on that fact I've upped the rating by 1 point.

A polarising film, a lot of people hate it, and a lot of people love it. I love it. It's not deep....just go with the flow :) .

Here in this doco people involved with it share their thoughts and memories, a lot of funny stories about studio execs, producers, directors, movie stars, stuntmen, etc.....Joanna Pettit has "aged" very well :o what a babe

I hope I'm as cool as these guys if I get to their age. :D

Saw The Pope's exorcist last night and I must say it was a great movie.

It is said that this movie should be based on a true story. Makes one wonder how much they have exaggerate the action in the movie.

I give the same as they have in IMDb

Real nice movie. Unlike previous D&D movies, it was clear that the people involved have actual familiarity with D&D.

The parallels with Balder's Gate III were surprising.

I watched part one in my private VR moviehall on the XXXXL screen. :) Visually stunning, but the style the narration was pushed forward was a bit sterile, for my taste, however, that perfectly reflects the mood I felt when readin the books (severla times). Seen under the aspect of adequately translating literature into a book-matching movie, the film was extremely good.

I only hated that they bowed to modern zeitgeist and lobby groups and made Liet Kynes a woman where in the book he was a man. Unnecessary, and factually incorrect.

Villeneuve has several high-ranking masterpieces under his belt now. Prisoners. Arrival. Blade Runner 2049. Dune. As a thriller and taken for itself: Sicario. Thats a very impressive record already.

More Dune films are planned, at least Dune Messiah, possibly also Children of Dune. Myself would prefer to end with God Emperor of Dune, it brings things to a logical conclusion, it closes the circle and is an interesting though difficult book in itself. Books 5 and 6 are unneeded.

Movie Review :-

"Dune Part 2" or is it "Dune 2" ????

Big Tip......take earplugs.....lots of Industrial level sound effects.

"Urine and feces are processed in the thighpads" - Liet Kynes. :)

Yes Dr Kynes, damn good advice, this movie is 3 plus hours long with no intermission. You need a bloody stillsuit to get through it without wetting your pants :timeout: . I was seriously bursting for a pee by the end of it, and joined the stampede for the Gents.

SPOILERS ALERT....... There's lots of nods to "diversity", I felt the whole "Jamis" bit was seriously overdone.
There's some big changes from the ORIGINAL !!! "Dune" book by Frank Herbert e.g. in no particular order.....Chani goes off in a huff..."You don't love me".......Stilgar goes...."Yippee...Holy War...Here we go, Here we go, Here we go etc..."with the Boys oops Fremen....without waiting for "Dune Part 3". Naughty Stilgar....:yep:
The director should've used "The Dune Encyclopaedia" for background "stuff" and not the co-authored books by Frank Herberts son. Good to see Margot Fenrig get a mention.
Alia not born by movie's end but only a "presence".

It's "Dune"...... but for a new generation/audience. And it definitely looks like there'll be Part 3.......I only hope Disney doesn't take it over. :wah:

Your movie link has been misnamed, is that the only way they can get it past youtube's censor clowns by misnaming it?.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

I watched the first three movies and then I got pissed off with the franchise, there was nothing wrong with Milla Jovovich, she's an excellent actress who is a perfect choice for the role of Alice, but the men in suits behind it all were milking the series for all it was worth.

I'm going to fire it up and watch it later, not the youtube version but a proper movie site version, they're out there you know, you just need to look for them, no registration, no age restrictions and no youtube censors either, you can use an adblocker if you want to, in fact I highly recommend it , have a nice day. :O:

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Review.

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began - The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbtmW3ydOkU

How I made it to the end of this film without cutting my bleeding throat I've no idea but, luckily fo me I did, such an end to this franchise is more of a blessing than any kind of mercy, this series of movies should have ended at least two films ago, and there you have it in a nutshell, movie suits milking it for every penny they could get out of it.

What a way to end this franchise, instead of going out with a roar it could barely muster up a whimper, all that hard work put in by Milla over the years and they've let her down by producing this load of bollocks to finish it all up, poor Milla.

I have to give this a rating now I've seen it so here goes.

Movie Rating 4\10
Milla Jovovich 8.5\10

From the Westfälische Nachrichten and Münstersche Zeitung:

Steven Spielberg produces series episode about bomb attack on Münster

On October 10, 1943, Münster was destroyed by American aerial bombs. The fateful day in the city's history is now the focus of a TV series produced by director Steven Spielberg and actor Tom Hanks for Apple TV+.

Nate Mann plays Robert Rosenthal in "Masters of the Air". He was the only pilot to return with his plane from the attack on Münster on October 10, 1943.

One of the fateful days in Münster's history is now the focus of a mini-series produced by legendary director Steven Spielberg and Oscar winner Tom Hanks. On October 10, 1943, US bombers launched a devastating attack on Münster. 473 civilians lost their lives and large parts of the city center were destroyed. However, the series "Masters of the air", which is shown on the Apple TV+ streaming platform, focuses less on the destruction in Germany and more on the stories of the American bomber pilots.

Last Of Us was impressive s a TV adaptation, I watched it twice and just 2 weeks apart. This one seems to be not any less well-made either. They rate it 9 out of 10: "Amazing".

I am no Amazion Prime customer, but before I learned about the F4 TV series, just a week ago or so, I accidentally hit the prime button when ordering, and now am in the free 30 days testing period. I will spend that time to watch the program (and then unsubscribe again).

Oh man, that Fallout series is good, really good! They nailed all the typical details and features that characterise the game, and the looks are incredibly close to the game's world. Watched the first three (of eight) episodes, and fully enjoyed what I saw, giggled, and laughed. The humour is black and sometimes tough, the gore is so very much over the top that only a fool would take serious offence from it, and the absurdity of so many scenes and situations from the game is transported almost on a 1:1 basis, by which I mean they did not copy the same jokes and situaton comedy, but they inhaled and then breathed out the spirit evertyhing in Fallout breathes.

Very good adaptation! They nailed it. :yeah:

:yeah:

Just some caution, parts of this are VERY violent and/or disturbing.
From 1975 and written by Harlan Ellison. :yeah:
A Boy And His Dog narrowly missed being rated X ("just because") which was why it didn't get a lot of screen time despite a pretty stellar cast.

For you fans of the FALLOUT franchise, welcome to where a LOT of it began.
This was Don Johnson's first, well, anything.
It takes place in the far-flung future of 2024. :yeah:
ABAHD also pre-dated the Son Of Sam. Kinda spooky when you consider that the dog talks to him via telepathy and tells him what to do. :o

War of the Worlds

Storyline: The War of the Worlds (1953) H.G. Well's classic novel is brought to life in this tale of alien invasion. The residents of a small town in California are excited when a flaming meteor lands in the hills. Their joy is tempered somewhat when they discover that it has passengers who are not very friendly. The movie itself is understood better when you consider that it was made at the height of the Cold War--just replace Martian with Russian....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8TVpD5yzE4

I last watched this film in the mid sixties so I would have been about 9 years old, I decided to watch it again to see how it still stacked up, some people would call this film a classic, not me though, it was full of religious clap trap from beginning to the end which let this film down badly, religion has never been my cup of tea and it's rating reflects that.

Movie Rating 3.5\10

Some -- interesting films being presented here :hmmm: :D

I am just watching some made-up stuff i read a few years ago by chinese author Liu Cixin. It is SciFi, and there have been two attempts to make a film of it; one in China and one in the US by Netflix.
I thought it impossible to bring this on the screen and make it available, and understandable, but both adaptions are worth it.

The chinese variant only enters YouTube in small episodes, and afaik it has not been finished and is meanwhile banned in China. Which is a pity because the chinese version seems to be even more radical and close to the book than the Netflix one.
No wonder though it has been banned in China, the chinese 'cultural revolution' under Mao is being described in all of its brutality and uselessness, and things have not really changed. Now it is just being done more indirectly and with better means of control, and supervision.
Different and in a way more civilised than in Russia, i'll give China that.

This is one of the chinese episodes, but when you want to get the whole story it may be better to watch the Netflix adaption, or better: read the book(s). Only the first book has been adapted by Netflix up to now.

Here is one of the Netflix variants, gigantomanic and not too philosophical, just a scarecrow

edit:

Lin Qi, who helped bring "3 Body Problem" to screens, died before the series aired.
He was poisoned in 2020 by Xu Yao, who headed up a subsidiary that oversaw adaptations of the book.
Now, more than three years later, Xu has been given the death sentence.

Mayhem (2017)
Matias Caruso penned the script, which tells the story of a virus that infects a corporate law office on the day attorney Derek Saunders (Yeun) is framed by a co-worker and wrongfully fired. The infection is capable of making people act out their wildest impulses. Trapped in the quarantined building, our hero is forced to savagely fight tooth and nail for not only his job but his life.

"Melanie and Derek" are the lead characters in this comedy\gore mashup, it was a decent movie with great chemistry from Mel and Derek but something let the film down, I wonder what it was?. Ah yes I remember now, the gore part, my one complaint is it doesn't show what should be prominent death scenes, "the siren aka Kara" is a prime example of this, yep, I would have loved to see that bitch get it, but, they cut her death scene out when the film needed it in. It was a poor decision from the director and I took 0.5 off the film to show my displeasure at it.

Even though we didn't see the Siren bitch get it in the end, the film still got a generous above average rating.

Movie Rating 7\10

It should have been 7.5\10 but 7 is still a very good rating.

Resident Evil

When a virus leaks from a top-secret facility, turning all resident researchers into ravenous zombies and their lab animals into mutated hounds from hell, the government sends in an elite military task force to contain the outbreak.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhBAIDHvRTc

You can't really go wrong with a zombie movie that has Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez in it, a good sci-fi plot that has aged really well although the CGI hasn't aged to the same level. Some good action scenes and a half decent script made it a decent nights viewing, I even watched Resident Evil Apocalypse straight after it just to make sure that I'd got my zombie fix in for the night.

Resident Evil Apocalypse

As the city is locked down under quarantine, Alice finds out that the people that died from the previous incident at the Umbrella Corporation have turned into zombies. She then joins a small band of elite soldiers, who are enlisted to rescue the missing daughter of the creator of the mutating T-virus. Once lack of luck and resources happen, they begin to wage an exhilarating battle to survive and escape before the Umbrella Corporation erases its experiment from the face of the earth.

Movie Rating for both films, 7\10.

Even if you're not into surfing this still is a memorable movie. Likeable characters, spectacular scenery/photography, good narration, topless beaches....and the guys trying very hard not to stare :) , eccentric expats all over the world, scary moments with BIG Alaskan bears, Crocodiles in Costa Rica and being attacked by one in Australia, being attacked by a pride of Lions in South Africa :o:o , thieving monkeys.....and just so much more.

A worthy successor to the first "The Endless Summer". :yep::yeah::gulp:

Civil War
Civil War 2024 A journey across a dystopian future America, following a team of military embedded journalists as they race against time to reach DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7_0-Su-pus

This movie could have been a whole lot better than it was, it left a whole lot of questions unanswered, who was fighting for what and for who?, how did the Civil War start? and was the Presidents faction in the right or the wrong?, it never answered any of them, it was a piss poor decision in my opinion.
A suicide bomber at the start of the movie, Why?, By Who?, WTF is happening?, the film never explained any of it, not good, not good at all.
The uniformed soldiers from both sides were wearing the same khakis, why didn't they have coloured arm bands on?, war is chaotic so the confusion as to who was who set in very early, I struggled to understand what the film was all about and therefore it has gone on my do not watch again list.
If this movie had answered those questions I would have given it a higher rating than what I've given it but, it didn't so it's going to take a ratings hit for that.

Movie Rating 4.5\10
