This movie was released in 1980. It's called " Raise the Titanic." It features such notables as the late Jason Robards, Richard Jordan and Alec Guinness along with Anne Archer. The movie was based on a book written by Clive Cussler and features his main Character, Dirk Pitt. It is a suspenseful and has great intrigue.

As usual, the movie doesn't encompass all of the aspects of the book but it is still pretty good.

Here it is in it's entirety.

^ @ Jim and Markus. I'm sorry it's not available in the U.K or Denmark. Maybe you can do a search with other video streaming service or a manual search on Youtube there. IT really is a great movie.

It was truly a great movie. I tried to find another movie with Jason Robards with the title The Day After-From 82 or 83.

I thought with the crisis we are in today this movie would be the right thing to watch.

"The Charge of the Light Brigade" 1968.

The movie was made in the late '60s at the height of the Anti Vietnam War Movement and reflects the sentiments of those times.

The trailer's better than the movie....but that's just me liking the Errol Flynn 1936 version better.....fellow Aussie, and all that.

A docu/talk about the movie "Vanishing Point" 1971 by people involved in the making of it.

There's quite a few of these on the 'net...people love the movie :)......even if they don't really understand it. There's so many interpretations of just "wtf, was that all about???"

From what I can gather, the director was given "the hurry up" by the studio. There was so much more of the script he wanted to shoot and put in the film, but time and money were a real issue. So in a rage of frustration he tore out a huge chunk of the script ( literally ), and shot the night scene with Charlotte Rampling - The Grim Reaper/Death....we're talking philosophers territory now. :hmmm::hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:

Anyway, a GREAT film, cult classic.

Gilda Texter shared some amusing aspects of her role in "Vanishing Point" in one of the other docos. The poor girl had to ride the Honda ( with a vinyl seat ) naked in 120 F in the desert - no shade. She got badly sunburnt and blistered on her...:wah:. And she was terrified of falling off onto a cactus:o:wah:

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has gone Woke, its now got black elves in this latest piece of Woke crap, I can't remember J.R.R Tolkien mentioning anything about Black elves in his LotR books before, can you?. Why "Black?" I ask?, why not some unknown actor or actress from Asia? or an Indian elf? or a South American elf, yeah, someone from Paraguay or Puerto Rico or any other country from the South Americas would have been great, but "Black" is pandering to one colour while rejecting the many other colours is a step too far in my opinion.

Why is it that Asians, Indians and the South American continents are nearly always dismissed out of hand when it comes down to these major film roles, doesn't that make these Woke bastards a bunch of Racist Currants?.

"Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made." J. R. R. Tolkien :O:

This movie could be the greatest film ever made but I will always give 0\10, Fricking Woke Racist Currants.

"John Carter". Early last century Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a whole series of books ( I suppose you'd now call them "Steam Punk Genre" ) about an American Civil War veteran who ends up on Mars :)

Great reading.

After the books came out there were a couple of attempts to get a movie going about John Carter, but .....didn't eventuate.

About a decade ago, give or take a few years, Disney bit the bullet and produced the movie. It's a GOOD film. But Post Vietnam War till recent times Sci Fi blockbusters were being released thick and fast, and audiences and reviewers drew parallels to "Star Wars", "Avatar" etc etc, and ultimately didn't appreciate it. Fickle so and so's.

Burroughs work is the root of the Sci Fi genre. Everything old is new again.

P.S. With apologies to H G Wells and Jules Verne.

Movie rating 2.15, I'm being kind here as it should really have got 1.21, meh!, some of you might like this kind of sci-fi but as far as I'm concerned this bag of rusty spanners should have been consigned to the scrap heap before filming even began.
Never before have I disliked a sci-fi movie like Moonfall before, somehow, they managed to take aliens, Dyson spheres, AI, interstellar travel, and government coverups, and make it absolutely boring to watch.

I kept wanting to turn this rubbish off but I forced myself to watch it to the end in the hope that the last half hour of it could redeem itself by an extra point or so, sadly, that didn't happen.

Black Widow.
Watched it last night, I don't know how they got Scarlet Johansson to play the black widow character in this load of garbage but I'm assuming that it must have involved a pay check as big as a bleeding skyscraper.
I'll put this bleeding rubbish on a par with the Suicide Squad film and that film barely scraped a watch Rating of 3.
I'm assuming that the Marvel Film Studios are catering to either an audience of the walking undead or to an audience of people with less than 75 brain cells, whichever it is Hollywood needs to take a long hard look at themselves and cut their cloth accordingly. Hollywood, you can do better than this and you know bloody know it, you bleeding muppets.

Don't Look Up.

I watched this again last night, yep, I've seen it twice, I have to honestly admit that I like this film, its not often that I'm sat watching a disaster in the making and I'm actually cheering the bleeding comet on. I gave it a rating of 8.5 which is the highest mark I've given a film in the last 10 years, it drags along in a couple of places but hey, what film doesn't do that these days.

This is a poignant look into the peoples reactions to such an event facing the world today, when you've got a stark choice between scientific facts and political incompetents with their heads up their arse then those scientists have already lost the argument. Giant Tech companies spouting verbal diarrhoea and allied with the twitterati morons and facebook buffoons those scientific facts and that comet isn't going to get a bleeding look in.

This is comedy satire at its best and Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence portrayed their characters flawlessly. And what can I say about Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett and Tyler Perry, they too played their characters parts faultlessly.

Gotta admit I'm a fan of Namewee. He's got a big heart and is a great philanthropist, and also had a very rough "trot" just recently. His entire website was hacked and desecrated by russian supporters. He lost everything, but by a herculean effort it's now back up.

I hope the bastards leave him alone. He doesn't deserve it.

Anyway a funny movie of his.

Rebel guerillas ambush a Government supply train.

A dramatic scene ( one of many ) from the 1970 movie "The Adventurers".

Not everyone's favourite film, the main whinges are that it's too long and way too intense. But if you've a couple of hours to spare and you're in the right frame of mind, this is one hell of a movie.

TOP GUN: MAVERICK

H'mmm, one for the Top Gun fanboys me thinks, this reviewer isn't a fanboy and that's why I'll read the review below instead of the one's on Rotten Tomatoes.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/top_gun_maverick/reviews?intcmp=rt-scorecard_tomatometer-reviews

So yeah… for those who are going to proclaim Top Gun Maverick better than Top Gun, okay. It is a more complex piece of visual filmmaking.
But is it more complex storytelling? No. It doesn’t have an original idea in its body. Even the inevitable sex scene is in the exact style of the original.
Oh dear me, we really need a slapping head emoji on this forum. :O:

A full and complete WW2 movie in very good quality; its been in the public domain for some time, so there are no copyright problems with sharing this film; this film is rather unique in that six of the stars are actual WW2 veterans of the units depicted in the film; the film is the story of the famed and highly honored 442nd/100th Regimental Combat Team, the most highly decorated units of its size in US Army history (18,000 medals and/or awards and seven Presidential Unit Citations in two years of service), with 21 of its members awarded Congressional Medals of Honor, and the whole unit (with the Nisei US Army Military Intelligence Service (MIS) members received the Congressional Gold Medal for their service; one of the Nisei, Daniel Inouye, went on, after the War, to become a highly respected US Senator; his actions during a key mission were highly courageous and honorable, but, due to racial animus in the higher rankings of the US military, he didn't receive recognition for his actions even though officers (non-Nisei) repeatedly put in recommendations he be awarded the Medal of Honor; it wasn't until decades afterward, when there was a public effort to right the discriminatory actions of military command during the War, that Inouye was awarded the MoH in 2000; this is the text of his MoH citation:

Citation

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Second Lieutenant Daniel K. Inouye distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 21 April 1945, in the vicinity of San Terenzo, Italy. While attacking a defended ridge guarding an important road junction, Second Lieutenant Inouye skillfully directed his platoon through a hail of automatic weapon and small arms fire, in a swift enveloping movement that resulted in the capture of an artillery and mortar post and brought his men to within 40 yards of the hostile force. Emplaced in bunkers and rock formations, the enemy halted the advance with crossfire from three machine guns. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Second Lieutenant Inouye crawled up the treacherous slope to within five yards of the nearest machine gun and hurled two grenades, destroying the emplacement. Before the enemy could retaliate, he stood up and neutralized a second machine gun nest. Although wounded by a sniper's bullet, he continued to engage other hostile positions at close range until an exploding grenade shattered his right arm. Despite the intense pain, he refused evacuation and continued to direct his platoon until enemy resistance was broken and his men were again deployed in defensive positions. In the attack, 25 enemy soldiers were killed and eight others captured. By his gallant, aggressive tactics and by his indomitable leadership, Second Lieutenant Inouye enabled his platoon to advance through formidable resistance, and was instrumental in the capture of the ridge. Second Lieutenant Inouye's extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.

What the citation does not mention is that when Inouye's right arm was shattered he was holding a grenade in his right hand; he pried the grenade out of his mangled hand with his left hand, primed and threw the grenade at an enemy nest; Senator Inouye always seemed like a mild mannered guy, but he was a bit of a badass...

I couldn't find a decent trailer for this 2000 telemovie.

So this will have to do I guess.

"Jason and the Argonauts".

Beautiful women, great costumes - especially The Colchians.

A bit of a slow pace to the film, but a great/familiar story with wonderful scenery.

Compares well with the 1963 classic of the same name.

Just another planet killer visiting the human race...... again. :yep: My review of this film is what I thought of it, but you might think it's the best film since slice bread was invented so, give it a watch and make your own minds up.

I watched it last night, it has some good points in it, mainly Morena Baccarin, :O: who the hell doesn't like Morena?, its also got some bad points in it, namely Gerard Butler. :haha: The dialogue and some of the cliche scenes could have been from any number of films but hey, it is what it is, is it watchable?, yeah, but only once, even Morena couldn't tempt me back to give it another viewing.

Spoiler Alert
I have one major criticism about this movie, well two if you add Gerard, the 7 year old kid with diabetes who has an insulin injecting pump strapped to his body. They're going to be in an underground shelter for nine months with only a limited amount of insulin available, what is the kid going to do when it runs out?, well he's gonna be toast that's for sure so, whoever thought of this insulin part needs a bleeding slap, they really need to think these scenarios through a lot more.
I just wish that whoever came up with this scenario had put their brain into gear and chose a different illness, you know like a short term illness like mumps or tonsilitis, just something that puts extra stress on the parents instead of giant plot holes like the insulin one in this movie. :o

Film Rating was a tough one as I almost turned it off twice but I have to give it one, :hmmm: if Morena was cavorting about in a bikini I would have given it 9/10 but she didn't so its down to the actors, the dialogue and the scenarios.

Pro's
Morena Baccarin +2
Comet and fragments +2.5 they didn't constantly shove it down your throat and some of the comet effects were top notch.

Cons
Gerard -1
Insulin -1
cliche dialogue -1
cliche scenarios -1

Film Rating, 5.5\10
Still an average movie but this could have been a great film if they had used a different male actor and re-written most of the cliches out, come up with something different instead of re-hashing the one's we've seen a thousand times or more, sadly they didn't think it needed doing, if they had this film could have been a 7 or an 8. The plonkers. :o

Top Gun Maverick

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1KJNW-iYlE

Film Rating 5\10
I watched this film today and found it to be a load of Hollywood hyped up bollocks as usual, is it watchable?, well once, and once only. The Top Gun fanboys will be saying yes, yes, yes yes as they put a death grip on their poor little joysticks, meanwhile I, and probably millions of other viewers won't ever watch this film again.

The early flying scenes were pretty good but some of the latter flying scenes are taken from the improbable to the bleeding impossible, it tried to be a good movie but it shadowed some of the cast from the original movie too much. Switch Hangman for Iceman, Rooster for Goose and Old Maverick for young Maverick and you could've been watching the first Top Gun film play out again.

Jennifer Connelly, :o I don't know why she was in this movie or why they even thought she'd bring some romantic distraction to this film as it was lacking in substance from the get go. The whole of her scenes should have been canned and replaced with some pilot death scenes as they trained to do the impossible and a few pilot deaths would have vastly improved this film no end.

As far as I'm concerned this film didn't try hard enough to bring to life the realities of failure for these gung-ho pilots and that's why it's just another average movie. :O:

Jurassic World: Dominion follows the events of its predecessors with dinosaurs now roaming free around the world.
It brings back the original trilogy's stars who are investigating genetically-altered locusts that destroy the planet's crops.
Those characters eventually meet up with the new characters, played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard who are trying to rescue a 14-year-old human clone.
Critics say it relies too much on action and a convoluted story and that the dinosaurs play a secondary role, and it never develops its own identity.

Jurassic World Dominion REVIEW - NO SPOILERS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsD8nJRsjJQ&ab_channel=BeyondTheTrailer

There's been some pretty bad reviews written about this movie already but I also know that film critics are not always reading from the same script as the public. I think the film critics went to see this film with an overly high expectation of the film in the first place and when it didn't quite deliver the goods for them they panned the movie.
I always give a movie 5 out of 10 before it begins and the bar is highered and lowered as I watch it, so until then I'll keep quiet about it, lets also not forget that Dinosaurs make money, "Big Money", and that kerching sound will be rocking once it's released for public viewing.

I watched this film tonight and was pleasantly surprised that it was better than I thought it would be, give it a watch as it'll pass a couple of hours on, and besides that, you'll more than likely enjoy it.
I'm not going to tell you any film spoilers as the youtube trailer deals with all that stuff, well, it hints at them anyway. The film has great parts, slow parts, single cross and double cross parts and even the old Hollywood cliche parts, yeah, (Hollywood does like it's CEO cliches).
Besides all that we have the terrific Charlize Theron in the lead female role with a good backup set of characters to boot, for anyone in Hollywood who doesn't know how to portray a “strong female character” just point them to this film and say watch that ****er. :D

Film Rating 7. (This film should have got an 8 but those Hollywood cliches keep on turning up)

Jurassic World Dominion.
I went to a special screening today and saw this movie.

The Opening. (Act 1)
This is what grabs the viewers attention and sets up the rest of the movie for a rip roaring ending, it was, without doubt, the worst opening 40 minutes of any Jurassic Park\World film to date.

The Clone Girl Maisie. (Typical Hollywood Teenager) sigh.
There wasn't anything good I could say about Maisie, she was portrayed as a stereotypical Hollywood brat who quite frankly needed her head slamming into the nearest brick wall, (cue everyone cheering). This teenage American brat business has been done to death by Hollywood and it needs to stop, Now. There's been no creative writing done with this Maisie character and allied with the piss poor opening of the film its rating started to go downhill..... fast.
(This film has been a serious car crash so far and the movie has been carted off to hospital).

Middle section, Italy (Act 2)
Italy, a villainous CEO of an international genetics/agricultural corporation who's lying about how the company uses dinosaur DNA, these are where the genetically engineered locusts are, I've already said enough about insects, goodbye and **** off.

Middle section, Malta. (Act 2)
20 minutes taken from Act 1 and added here could have made this film the 2nd best Jurassic movie of all time.

This is where the action moves up a gear, Dino's bred for auction, and some raptors have been specially trained to attack specific targets aided by technology, it's all a bit mish mash for me as this part could have been the best part of the film.
This is where Dominion should have started to shine, but all we got was a few chase scenes and a couple of human deaths, as usual there wasn't any creative writing. Sadly, our heroes left the Dinosaurs running around like headless chickens back in Malta as they returned to Italy, what a load of bollocks.
(Life support has been switched on and the doctors are all shaking their heads).

What was needed and should have happened was dead humans, Dino's, Dogs, horses, goats, and a few pet goldfish as well if that's what the director wanted. This could have made this film the Blockbuster of the decade never mind the year.
Groups of humans fighting back against rampaging raptors and the military flying teams of troops in to deal with the big one's, it would have been epic. The trouble with the Jurassic films is they treat these Dino's with kid gloves when in reality those Dinosaurs were vicious bleeding killers
Yeah, this is it, this is the reality of Dinosaurs meets modern humans, it wouldn't have been pretty but those images beamed onto our TV screens would have shocked Governments all over the world as the carnage unfolded.

Ending, Italy again. (Act 3)
There isn't too much to say about the ending, it fell way short of delivering the promised epic history changing finale that the franchise deserved, but hopefully the next film will try to fix that. There's no doubt in my mind that at least another 3 movies will be needed to finally bring this franchise to it's final conclusion, the Dino's need it, the Jurassic films need it, and lets not forget the paying puplic need it.
(There are signs of life but it's not looking good)

There must be some better authors\screenwriters out there than these current useless pillocks infesting Hollywood, they had all the ingredients there to make a Blockbuster from this film that would have been on a par or maybe even better than the original Jurassic Park. As it is these current writers have failed to deliver on multiple occasions and until they get some new blood into the mix they'll keep churning these average films out.

Film Rating 5.5 (This film had the potential to be an 8 but Hollywood and those writers screwed it all up again)

The ultimate disaster movie. Couldn't find an English trailer for this 2012 movie.

I suppose the title gives the story away..."Japan sinks".

My favorite movie would have to be "The Stunt Man", starring Peter O'Toole. A funny movie about making a movie, followed by my second favorite, also with O'Toole, "My Favorite Year". "The Presidio" with Sean Connery is worth a watch, if only for the fight scene where Connery says, "I'll only use my thumb and keep one hand behind my back". "The Walking Dead" television series has kept me watching for around 10 years.

Currently, I watch whatever my 'movie maven' wife programs for our evening's viewing pleasure. Last night, we watched the new movie about Vikings, "The Northman" with Alexander Skarsgatd starring in what looks to be a re-telling of Shakespeare's Danish story.

Hoping that his posting will allow me, once again, to download mods. I have been away from the site and the games for quite some time, due to medical issues and my gaming computer morphing into a door stop but on a positive note, I did celebrate my 75th birthday!

I have a fresh install of SH4 on a Tiny computer and I want to download and install "We dive at dawn" which I have not been able to download for the last couple of days, since my return. I know that our admin master will reinstate my download privileges once he sees that I have surfaced and returned from the dark depths.

Hollywood have really overstepped the mark on this one.

That Prey film might have been worth a look but after watching the video I think I'll give it a miss. :haha:
Those Comanche Dog Soldiers of years gone by were the most brutal Indian Braves that the continent of North America has ever seen, letting any squaw tell them what to do never mind showing them up to be a bunch of ****ing fairies would have been the death of her.

Wonder Woman 1984.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfM7_JLk-84

No Spoilers.

Gal Gadot is a decent enough actress but even she couldn't save this movie from the inevitable train wreck it was. Some of the reviews say this film is "brilliant and fantastic", ****ing hell, what chemical substances were they taking at the time?.
I'll be brutally honest and say that most of these reviewers were being "Paid" to say that bleeding nonsense, the disingenuous bastards.

I think big Hollywood movies such as the Godfather, Predator, Terminator, Alien, The Matrix etc are beyond Hollywoods reach now, they've forgotten what a big Blockbuster is and how important the script is to it, until they go back to basics they'll keep right on producing garbage like this movie.
This Wonder Woman 1984 film with a budget of 200 million USD and a Gross worldwide $166,801,036 tells me one thing, it should never have been made.

I have to say that this film is so bad that I almost walked out of my own house!, I have to give it a rating so, the length of the film is 2.25 and that's what its getting.
Film Rating 2.25
