you know,somewhere else on the forum i said i would liked to be welcomed by some german nurses,well one of these nurses stood in the bunker and i started a conversation.from one thing came the other and before i knew we where drinking champaign in a french hotelroom.no problem so far.we had a night to remember but the next day when i wanted to pick up some files at my boat those guys where waiting for me.

Would be nice if they looked this good in game though. Some reason, PS is able to correct the colors to look outstanding! The originals do not look this clear at all.

Sadly almost none. I shot from 450m in the rain and as soon as the third torpedo had left the tubes I turned into the task force and dropped to 100m deep and 1kt with Silent Running, so.. pretty hard to detect. One of the destroyers did a circle of the Nelson as she sunk, but then they all went along their path.

Didn't make it.
My own fault, attacking in 140 meters of water, in perfect weather conditions.
Then sticking around at PD long enough to reload tubes and have another go.
By the time of my second attack they were pretty much on top of me.
Kept me down for about an hour and a half, dropped over a hundred depth charges, then 4 of their buddies turned up to join the party.
Didn't last much longer after that.
Like I said, my own fault. Just one bad decision after another. :DL

Just played a little bit with my own mod for the first time: heavy seas, targeting a Liberty with my last 2 torpedoes; scored a hit on the most forward hold and between hold 2 and 3. Took a while, but eventually she went down, slooowly.

Sent a shiver down my spine when she finally slipped out of view completely. :D

I surfaced and moved in for intercept. After a while I was within visual contact and saw there was a convoy of 5 steamers, unescorted! Hurrah!

I moved ahead and got into position. Locked in details on the lead ships and waited. As they passed I launched my torpedoes. The far one missed since I misidentified the ship and it passed below it, but I nailed the close merchant. At this point though I have one rear torpedo left and no gun rounds. So, I just sit there and watch the convoy pass waiting for the stricken merchant to sink.

Just than one of my lookouts called "Escort sighted!" "That's odd," I think because there weren't any escorts near when I started to attack. I glance in the direction of the contact and FIVE destroyers are doing 34kts RIGHT at me!

I scream "ALAAARRRRRMMM!!!" and nothing happens.

Ah ha! So I scramble to the hatch and go down it, THEN scream "ALAAAARRRRMMM!!!" and we crash dive...

Bit of testing, did some "work" on a periscope mod and got settled in at BtS. New place to host and a new place to spam. :lol:

While underway for my next patrol, ran into task force. QE battleship, in all her glory. Came creaping in, less then a KM off her course, 45 AOB solution, perfect. Escorts not a chance to detect me and she had no chance to evade.

Let loose a salvo of 3 torpedoes, all hit: 1 clipped the bow, 1 struck at the second battery and the third struck just behind the superstructure near the third battery.

After 30 min, she was barely listing and steaming at 11kts. Granted, she started out at 15 and was maneuvering, but still. :nope:

*sigh* back to the drawing board. Think I'll leave the escorts for now and focus on the large warships first.

I instantly started taking damage. Checking external view, I realized I had surfaced between two destroyers -- one was a few metres ahead of me, one was a few metres astern. I was headed in the same direction as them. I can just picture the scene on the ship behind me...

"Captain, enemy sub joining our formation, twelve o' clock!"
"Damnit! Radio, signal the u-boat and tell them to get the heck out of there! The spacing between warships in coloumn formation is a 100 metres, and Allied Destroyer formations are only comprised of Allied Destroyers:damn:! I'll have his head for messing with our routines this way!"

I have a ATI 4870X2. But can't seem to get rid of the jaggies how hard i try.
I have everything ticked and AA turned up as high it will go in game and in CCC.
Am using the 9.11 driver set.

Any ideas?

Chris did you try turning up you anti alias? To max. I did and the edges are as crisp as they get. I'm using an Radeon HD 5770 with 1 gig dedicated memory. Quad Core Intel 2.66 and 8 gigs of ram. For this Sim it's over kill. But I had the same seesaw edges until I turned up the anti alias. Try it.

Have AA and AF turned up to the max in CCC. In the game options i have AA turned to the max as well.

Still does not look as smooth as it should.
Even when zoomed in the still are jaggies visible.

Set to let the game decide in the nvidia cpl.
In game AA is set halfway up, thats 4x AA acording to the main.cfg in My documents\SH5\data\cfg folder. No jaggies anywere...

I didn't notice the haze until you pointed it out. I think it's probably one of those droplets of water on the screen that hadn't completely disappeared when I took the screenshot.

Only edits I did was stuff like levels, saturation and some sharpen.

I would like to ask the belgian where is the missing compartment.

The missing compartment he speaks of is the ships head, but the lit sign he did is not over the head, it's over the fridge in the galley.
The head is in the forward bunk compartment just before the torpedo room, but the modelers didnt get the door to it right exactly as it should have the round window that the fridge door has.

Ya know these shots in here are testament to SH5's photorealistic quality.
Something that I know took a verrrry great deal of work.

And just something that I have to say, that I printed out one of mine, on photo paper using my photosmart printer and was showing to some friends and they swore that it was the real thing, and I had to convince them it wasn't.

Now how's that for ya, when you have to try and convince someone it isn't real instead of the other way around.:yeah:

Some great pictures posted here, the more i look at them the more i feel ubi went all out on eye candy, which is nice but without good gameplay it falls down bigstyle. Once the ai plays ball then weve got a great subsim. After a patch or two also, i hope. These shots alone will bring the punters in. Hope SH5 will be all it can be some day. Until then i'll keep enjoying the scenery.

Yep it's in game straight up. We is having some fun in rough seas on this patrol, all set and gettin wet. I can hardly wait for that patch to see what they've done for the rain gear and hopefully some better animations for the watch crew.

Yes, the top of the pressure hull would have made seeing through the lower line of holes impossible i would have thought? plus the top line would be difficult to see through due to the fact that it contained various things, including the external torp storage?
but I expect he had used his externals? ;)

I tried that, went from SH5 1943 to SH3 1944, but it looked/felt so bad, I just went back to SH5 and started again..... ;)

uninstalled SH3 and SH4 now :(
SH5 has so much more promise :)
but I do hope we get a 1943-1945 addon pack at some point?

Yeah, its the same explosion which they use for ships, it starts off as a small fire ball then.... well you see. :haha:

Whats really sad is that I just spent over an hour getting screenies of a really cool night attack under the moonlight and all. I then exited the game only to see that I had forgotten to startup fraps.... :know:

Ran into 40 unescorted, unarmed merchants moving at 5kts. My opening attack was hitting the first 4 ranks at the same time. Then I just sat there as I reloaded, hitting the next 8 ships that sailed past. Then i chased after them with the deck gun. Final count was 14 sunk!

I dived to periscope depth and saw the british was also at periscope depth, so I dropped the running depth of my torp to 12m (max) and took him out with a torp while he was still at periscope depth, I bet he didn't expect that lol ;)
