yes, there is a special SH3Commander-MOD at "_LSH3_V5.1_TOOLS\SH3Commander".
So you will have to have a new SH3Commander-Installation for LSH3V5.1 with this MOD actiated.

Will read the manual over the weekend and also try it on my XP gaming computer.
Have dabbled and tweaked the mods and have come to the conclusion that it will only work on my windows 7 computer without fatigue enabled.

Repeated problems getting the LSH5.1 patch to run. If I launch the program normally, I get a crash to desktop from ntdll.dll after a few minutes of play. If I enable 'Run as Administrator' and XPSP3 compatibility mode I get a crash upon launch from kernel.dll
In addition, I'm unable to get MultiSH3 to work...when I try and launch it, it says that filemanager.dll is in use and it's unable to patch it?
Any help would be appreciated!

yes, I did. I enabled only _LSH3_V5 and _LSH3_V5.1 per the instructions and encountered the errors described on a fresh installation of SH3 with 1.4B and the widescreen patch installed.

did you run the 4GB-Patch-EXE?
I guess you have W7/64 - so you do not need to do the bcdedit.
Try deactivating the WS-patch and then restart!

Yes, the exe has had the 4GB patch applied. I'll see what I can do about removing the widescreen patch. Considering that I'm on a 2560x1440 monitor, running without that could prove problematic.

Just as a test - then we can try to find the right settings for WS!
EDIT:
You will have to edit d3d9.cfg in your MODs-folder in _DX9HiResFix with an Texteditor.
Set
resX=1360
resY=768
Then enable the _DX9HiResFix and start the game.

well in our opinion a "new Kaleun" did not "deserve" to have its own emblem. You will have to have a renown of 3500 or higher to be able to get your own emblem.
When Starting in Erprobungsstelle, sink the two targets to complete the testing of your new boat and crew. Then transfer to a front-flotilla, start your first trip and when you return with a good result you will be able to get your desired emblem.
Choose another year than 1939 and there will be other flotillas available where you can start immediately.
But be aware: new u-boats will only be available at the Erprobungsstelle!
All the equipment will be available at the front-flotillas.

this is a known issue in SH3.
When the small window pops up "New base xyz", SH3 itself still does not know your new destination base (see F8-Details).
Save and quit the game asap and reload this saved game.
Then your destination base will have changed to the new base and you can end your trip there (again see F8-Details)!

Any base is is good but Kiel and WHV - these are the largest harbours in game (as a base).

Unfortunately, this means I'll be unable to start in 1939. It almost acts as if there is a corrupted object in the Kiel harbor as it crashes pretty consistently part way out of the harbor.
Given my frustration level, I may simply return to stock.

Also I am running it through SH3 Commander and even when I try and start a Campaign after 1939 in a front flotilla it doesnt give me a joice of U-boat type. The drop down menu is blank for both the type and boat number. I have installed your files for Commander per instructions and also the mod order is correct per the mod manuel.

I will have to get rid of DD_visible mines then. I didnt know it was in the mod already. The new U-Boat guns just gives the deck guns and AA guns a better look in my opinion and the flags enlighten makes the flags of ships a little more visible at night. The ohers are just sound mods. "_LSH3_V5.1_GUI_Multi-SlideOuts" will be nearly useless, because it is overwritten by "_LSH3_V5.1_GUI_Six-Dials-Simfeeling".
Do you have "U-Tanker-Fix" enabled in h.sie OptionSelector and did you change the names of Odin and Co to U-Odin?

A) I haven't changed names of Odin and Co to U-Odin. :D I'll do that but where should I look for them?
B) Am going to disable one of them; either "_LSH3_V5.1_GUI_Multi-SlideOuts" or "_LSH3_V5.1_GUI_Six-Dials-Simfeeling" to make things better. :)
From what you say those two guys can't go together.
Honestly, am thinking of what else I've done wrong here? :hmmm: (meaning my actual Generic Mod Enabler configuration).
Also, what's the '_LSH3_V5.1__FunkLeicht' relation to h.sie's 'BDU messages' ? Do they work together? I have them both activated and I don't know if that's alright.

the best way is to open the Campaihn_SCR.mis file I dont know how it exacrly works in English, bur: selecz Menu <SEARCH>, type <ODIN> and you'll jump to the first entry with the name ODIN. Then search for ODIN within the Win EDITOR.
Scroll down a little bit and see what it is. If it is an UNITTYPE=102 (that means a merchant ship) search for the next entry. Until you reach the following entry: NavalBase=odin or something like that.
Change this entry into NavalBase=U-Odin and you've got your h.sie supplieship.

You need to use a text editor like note pad to open the .SCR file. Once you've done that then Ctrl, F and type in ODIN. Edit ODIN land base not the type 102. There are 2 entries for the ODIN land base.

Still no go with this supply thing. UNBELIEVABLE!!!.
First of all, to do the test am using single mission where am sailing on Type IXC. Trying to dock at the Theseus on my way to Caribbean I approached her and at the range of 1m to her I stopped my engines. Now, at speed of 0 knots, when I hit ESC, again, I have only three standard option to choose. And that's how my configuration looks now;

Test completed successfully :). But not without problems.
And here's the drill and a short story of my patrol.
After leaving St Nazaire, and couple of days and nights of heading West and then northwest to get her resupplied I docked at U-Odin :up:. From that point I had upon hitting ESC and choosing to end the patrol, the two options. Continue the mission and dock at U-Odin... I handed out the medals and specialization to my man.
Then I quit the game and changed the number of days in SH3 Comdr from 21 to 1. All fine. Boat resupplied. But when I started the mission instead of having the Null patrol grid and free hunting granted I got a new one very close to the Gibraltar Strait. And one more important fact. When I left the port I had TI and TIII fish on board and after resupply I got them back. Nice :D but I read somewhere that you can get only steam torpedoes when you take them from the resupply unit?. :salute:

I didn't have a problem with a save with a VIIC, just the XXI and VIIC/42.
I really dont know why that is happening. I tried the hsie fix activated both before and after hsie add-on and It looks like it needs to be activated after. I did have a problem with the messages still though but I think you have to deactivate the improved BDU messages option in the selector and the war news. I am going to try out a VIIC alittle more and see what happens. Wouldnt it be great if there were a Silent Hunter geek squad who could come out to your house and set up everything for you, HAHA! :haha:

Okay, I have narrowed it down to the fact that it crashes after I sink a ship. I save the game then exit. Then I try and load the save and it crashes to desk top. It doesnt matter what type of sub I am using or when in the war I start. Always the same thing.

Is it a single ship and always the same type?
If it is one ship of a convoy, then the "Golden Rules of Saving the Game" may be important:
- never save in vicinity of enemy ships
- never save when you are dived
- never save when you are to close to shore

It can be a single ship or part of one of the small convoys you have running around in the Baltic. I havent even been able to get into a regular front flotilla yet. I never break any of the rules you mentioned above, I have been playing SH3 and 4 for 4 years now so I have a good handle on the do's and dont's of saving. And it isnt always the same type of ship.

you may skip the first Mission and terminate while you are in harbour.
Then transfer to a front-flotilla and continue your career there.

Well that is what you should NOT do!
Take the boat as it is in the Erprobungsstelle or in the front-flotilla for the first mission.
Then, when you are back after the first mission or when you transferred to the front-flotilla improve it there!

I wish you would have told me that earlier! HaHa! Lets give that a try and see what happens then.
I am going to wait for the 6.0 version. The game still crashes after I sink a ship. So I will be anxiously awaiting the new version with all of the great addons and additions. Thanks Blueduck and my best for you and yours.

ok maybe best to wait till version 6, however some of what you are experiencing was covered in a recent post and this mod:
TheDarkWraith_DC_Water_Disturbance_v4_0_SH3
was determined to possibly be related to the CTD after sinking a ship. Check out this post if your interested:

toward the end you can see some possible causes, in my case it was defitely Lifeboats and debris 4 conflicting with another mod i have:salute:

for question 1 yes it should be might want to look for some extra files though because many of the megamods have filed to add to SH3 commander and i cant remember if that was the case also with LSH3. As for question 2 it should be able to.

your DL is corrupted! Try again and compare the filesize to the given values on our website!
If it still does not work, try the split version!

right yet there is no LSH3_v5.1_WS-GUI available.
With the release of LSH3_v6 we will release a WS-GUI for v5.1 too.
LSH3_v6 will have two WS-GUIs included - a Standard and an OLC-Version.

No, it won't work with GWX, because it is a superMOD like GWX. You need a (second) fresh virgin-like SH3 installation to run LSH.

Not in Stock SH3 version. But in the Mods like GWX, LSH 3 etc. there are ships and milk cows where you can dock at and refuel - like it was in real life.

I have an odd problem with LSHIII 5.1. I am unable to find enemy ships. I made two patrols around UK and the Irish Sea in 1940 and everything is empty. The harbors are empty and absolutely no traffic at all.
On the other hand, I don't notice any other problems - no CTDs etc. The training missions work normally, i.e. the ships show up. But it is a bit strange to circle around the UK and Ireland without finding a single ship and only empty harbors.
I tried to search for this problem but without success. I hope someone can help.

thank your for the nice words for LSH3 - will pass them to the team!
If you have got a PQ given in the career just zoom into the map at 1000km or less and you will see where the "refuel stations" are located.
Get closer than 25km (better you have spotted the suplyer) an end your mission there - it is like ending your turn in the harbour!
You will have to give medals immediately after the exit because the bureau - barracks do not work in this case.
From there you can start a new turn.

On the other hand, I don't notice any other problems - no CTDs etc. The training missions work normally, i.e. the ships show up. But it is a bit strange to circle around the UK and Ireland without finding a single ship and only empty harbors.
I tried to search for this problem but without success. I hope someone can help.

I guess you do have activated "_LSH3_V5.1__Single_MultiPlayer" which disables all ships at sea and in the harbours.

Thanks, that was it. I deactivated the mod and the ships came into place. Only issue I had now is that when I start a campaign at the Erpropung flotilla, the game CTDs when I am about to start a new patrol after being transferred to the 2 flotilla in Wilhelmshaven.

Hello blue duck im not sure it working for me when I start I always start at AG in the middle of the sea I never get a base to start in no mater what sub I use always same spot the mission says start at base and finnish base but it dosent give me one and when I get one saying start at kiel and finnish at keil I still start at AG in the sea no base am I doing some think wrong? do I need to do a patrol then find a port to finished at it always give me a mission to patrol AO tho I don't know I ready to give up :down:

this is not a location issue but a known fact in SH3!
If you equip your new u-boat BEFORE you start your turn you will end up in PQ AG!
Take the new boat, do your first journey, call for a transfer to the front flotilla (if you started in Erprobungsstelle) and then take the equipment!

Did you activate "LSH3_V5.1_SH3_Commander_3.2" in JSGME in the SH3-Commander-Folder? Maybe you try LSH3_v5.1 without Commander first?
Next I will need a mod-list of these activated within the SH3-folder.
And very important the date when you started your career.

i noticed a few conflicts with your mod profile
first off the easiest to fix the SH# commander one DOES NOT belong in the game folders ther is a aplication called SH3 commander where those files belong
now i refer to much of your activation
the env MEP ones can not be used with ATM and vise versa i refer you to http://www.lsh3.com/dl/v5/LSH3_V5.1_MOD-Activation_EN.pdf page 7
now the next error i noticed never have more than 1 sub type olc dials at any 1 time. the type IX in your case will have completely over written the type II
IIRC the bunkerstarten needs to be one of the first activated mods.

unfortunately i haven't run LSH3 in forever (and would need to make a mod profile for it which can take time making sure the game runs properly, and all the mods (including ones that i have not activated in a while) are on an external HDD. been using NYGM for the past 7 months and all my knowledge of LSH3 is based on memory and the documentation saved on the computer since i never can delete that kind of documentation

JSGME in EN is not that difficult. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to your SH3-folder where SH3.exe and JSGME.exe are located and delete "JSGME.lng".

No, the problem is with JSGME, not the SH3 program. In SH3 all languages are set to English. The JSGME language is German which I can't read.

Yes, there are some news, but not enough to update the first post.
Our team-testers have entered quality-tests of the beta-files.
Our "GUI-Division" is doing the final work on Standard- and OLC-GUI in 4:3 and 16:9.
I am actually updating the additional mods like ExtendedChallenge, ATM, ...
Afterwards all the manuals will have to be done.
If all this is done, we will have reached RC1-Status.
In the meantime we will show some web-albums with the new units (air, sea, sub) maybe in this month.

I tried to install WB ultimate ships and aircraft mod v11.61.2, through JSGME but when I load the game I have a CDT!...

did you follow the instructions from point to IE
2. IF YOU ARE NOT A GWX USER or already have a custom campaign file then you'll need to add the .mis files to your scripted campaign manually:
a. Activate USAM through JSGME.
b. Copy the 'WB's Ultimate Ship and Aircraft Mod_LND' campaign file to your desktop
c. Copy the 'WB's Ultimate Ship and Aircraft Mod_RND' campaign file to your desktop
d. Copy the 'WB's Ultimate Ship and Aircraft Mod_SCR' campaign file to your desktop
e. Find your campaign files (default location is 'C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns\Campa ign') and copy all three to your desktop. These will act as a backup in case anything goes wrong
3. Copy the USAM campaign files into your existing campaign:
a. Open SH3 Mission Editor at 'C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\Sh3MissionEditor'

Hi,
I have SilentHunter III vs 1.4 and it Works faultless without DVD under Windows 7 64 Home Premium. Now I have installed Living Silent Hunter III vs 5.1, started JSGME and activated: LSH3_VS (Hauptmod) und LSH3_VS.1. and also the 4GB-Patch.
Then I tested the game, got the blue Living Silent Hunter III screen, saw the red bar doing its job and after that I chose the Single Mission “Bismarck”
Now the red bar stopped short for its end and after about 5 minutes I got a black screen with the message: “Silent Hunter does’nt work anymore”
The Faultsignature says among other things : Application: sh3.exe, vs 1.4.01. Fault module: Kernel.dll. Version: 0.0.0.0
Can anybody help me out please?

What went wrong was that I activated 4GB_PATCH.EXE in SH3 directory and not in SH3.EXE
Now LSH III seems to work allright!

Is the AI in LSH3 as unforgiving as it is in GWX? This is my only (personal) issue with GWX. GWX adds so much for the immersion but I'm not a great sub commander. Don't get me wrong im not looking for a super easy experience but I do want a survival chance somewhat closer to the stock AI.

as far as I remember GWX, the AI starts 1939 on the same high level it has in 1945.
In LSH3 the AI-Level is increasing up until 1945.
Maybe you give it a try!

I ran into a problem in patrol where mission was to patrol grid AN01. I went there but game didn't understand that I had reached that grid. Orders sheet kept claiming that reaching the grid was incomplete even when I buzzed there for days.
Started a new campaign and now my mission is to patrol grid AM39. This worked fine and game realized that i had arrived in correct grid. You might want to check this out.
And a question came to mind, does the fire and burning cause more damage to the ships in this mod as it should ?

this a known issue even in SH3-Stock. There are several more PQs which "do not work correctly". They will all be eliminated in LSH3_v6.
Concerning your question if fire does more damage to the ships: No!
TDW did his MOD "TDW_Ship_Plane_Fire_Damage_v1_4_SH3.7z (ftp://hartmuthaas.no-ip.org/public/Sharing/SH3COMMUNITYMODS/THE%20DARK%20WRAITH/TDW_Ship_Plane_Fire_Damage_v1_4_SH3.7z)" in March 2011 and at this time LSH3_v5.1 was already released.
We had a discussion in the team about this MOD and came to the conclusion that the ship's crew will do some firefighting not to have to go into the boats.

Very surprising that this map bug has been here from the start. I have played vanilla and Grey wolves for years and never seen it. At the first patrol of Lsh-bang it happens. Sometimes probability works in mysterious ways.
That fire mod sounds great. It feels wrong that burning ships suffer no damage from it.
It would really be nice to see small fires likely going out by crew and larger fires possibly break into massive infernos and cause likely explosions and drive crew into the sea since fire will either get larger or die out. With or without the crew. Ammo / petrol ships and oil tankers should obviously explode totally in inferno case but in rare cases a possibility that abandoned ship just burns entirely without sinking ( Das boot scenario ) would be nice. Especially if the ship's hull is intact.

The steel sharks group have been playing a sh3 campaign for six years now
the prowlers of the deep mod is now very old & dated
we tried to use our campaign files with LSH 5.1 but the ship rosters are different
so it wouldn't sing I had interesting talks with blitzkrieg & blueduck they informed
me that LSH V6 will be out in December 2013 further more the ship rosters of LSH 5.1 & LSH 6
are compatable no ships removed just more ships added so ive started rewriting our campaign with LSH 5.1
& when LSH 6 is released the Campaign files will be compatable
the Campaign will be written in the SCR lair with Convoys only having a 30 day date life so to speak eg
Convoy HX1 leaves Halifax 16/9/1939 (entry date) 16/10/1939(exit date)
cant wait to see LSH 6 even LSH 5.1 is very polished n nice

Is there any way to get around having to start a career with SH3 Commander without having to go through the training flotilla? Whenever I try and join the first or seventh flotillas, the box with the u-boat types is empty.

windows 8.1 is windows 8 but with a major upgrade. I had been doing the beta testing 8.1 and SH3 does have problems in it that. One of the issues I personally found was that save games are more likely to corrupt I also noticed an increase in CTDs not related to the corrupt game loads.

To collect the facts:
- LSH3 (SH3) CAN be installed under Win 8.1 as desertstriker and Ping Jockey posted here.
- LSH3 (SH3) CAN be played under Win 8.1 but with restrictions (sometimes CTD)
These issues (CTD when loading a saved game, CTD in game) should be researched, because I guess all SH3 Supermods will be affected when they meet Win 8.1.
@desertstriker: maybe you could give some hints how a installation has to be done with Win 8.1
Another question concerning Win8.1: Is it still possible to use MS VPC?

An installation Has to be done outside the default UNLESS Steam is being used even then I highly recommend installing steam outside of the default directory. Always check permissions and I added exceptions to my AV and firewall just for SH3. Those steps seemed to help negate the CTDs.
I do not remember if MS VPC is possible I never really used it. Perhaps someone that is currently using it will know.

Is there any way to get rid of the colored ships ( red, green, or blue ) that appear on the map? I'll have one appear at around 50 km when there would be no way I could see that far. I don't want to know a ship is there until I can see it or find it on sonar. And, I don't want to know what nationality it is until I can identify it's flag.

The ones that seem to appear on the map outside of visual range are "radio contacts". You don't get radio messages for them, but they're supposedly reported to you.
As for contact colors, there is the "Extended Challenge Black Contacts" mod (supplied with LSH).

Get CTD at times with either GWX or LSH3 loaded. This started after upgrade to Win 8.1. Normal install of SH3 runs ok. Also "SmartScreen" stops some of the files from loading. Wants to know who the publisher is? I run this on an Allenware R4 PC with 16GB of ram. Hope this helps. Have run both Mega Mods since 2010 with no problems. Have LSH3 installed in a Games folder not in default.

Ran Win 8.1 compatibility troubleshooter program. PC now runs LSH3 in Win XP SP3 mode. So far so good! Turned "SmartScreen" off in Action Center. Will see how this runs. Have run 6 patrols without a CTD. Have loaded saved games with no CTD.12-16-13 @ 15:22

Turned "Smart Screen" back on and haven't had a CTD for two patrols. I have to think that Win Compatibility troubleshooter fixed the problem and Smart Screen was not the bad guy after all. LSH3 runs in a Win XP SP3 mode now.

I am sorry, but I have to tell you that we will not be able to release LSH3_v6 in this year.
Some of our testers encountered a CTD when exiting SH3.
The test to find this error took us more than a week.
Therefore we will have to push the release-date into January.

Hi mates,
well, I guess even Harry P. could not help me/us at the moment.
I think 95% of the work is done.
But because of the reports of our testers it feels we are at 20%.
Some of their results have to be controlled by myself, which takes a lot of time.
We will keep you informed a few days before we are ready.

They will release it, as soon as they are absolutely shure, that the work is done and the MOD is flawless. Due to the complexity of this issue, currently nobody will be able to tell the exact date of release.

I'll take this opportunity to ask for consideration and calm from everyone.
Also an explanation: "It will be ready when it's ready" is something of an old joke here at Subsim. It was used back when the release of SHIII was delayed for six months, when various supermods were taking seemingly forever to be released, and when other mods got put on hold for real-life commitments. Often even the modders themselves don't know for sure when everything will be ironed out, so whenever anyone asks for a release date one or another of us will usually say "When it's ready" or something to that effect.
I myself once answered such a request with "Tomorrow. If it's not here tomorrow, re-read the first sentence every day until it is here. After that this notice is no longer valid."
It's all in good fun, meant to ease the tension, not aggravate it. It wasn't meant as a put-down, and it wasn't aimed at you personally. You just happened to be the person who asked this time. You'll get used to in time. :sunny:

it is the well known "ConfigDate-Bug".
You will have to correct these dates by hand with an text editor!
But be careful: once you grab this unit again the date is set back to 1939 or else.

Although most of our testers have W7-PCs, W8/8.1 has to be kept in mind because nearly every new PC will have this OS.

True but quite a many switch it to older Windows very quickly. I know that many mod makers that make great mods don't even consider adding Win 8 support because of it's flaws.

Well,
if you think about TDW's "Ship_Plane_Fire_Damage" it is not included in LSH3_v6, because we think, that a ships crew did not want to take a bath and therefore does it's best to clear the fire(s).

I don't know anything about TDW's mentioned work, i'm just thinking about as realistic fire model as possible.
So there will be extinguishing attempts by crew i reckon. And if they fail ? Will the fire spread and blow up the ship ?

as far as I can say, the fire- and smoke-zones are just "eye-candy".
More important are the zones you hit under water.
So if your torpedo-explosion "accidentally" damages a "fire-zone" the ship will start burning, but if the zone below is to small, the ship will not sink.

Not fire but modelling of it's effects. Because it is too ridiculous to watch burning ships sailing for days and days just burning instead of exploding or fires been put out. Even old Silent Service II had this modelled, with instaexpo-fires but it still did.
Unrealism bugs me. :) Especially when the sinking model has always been so good in SH3.

in our opinion the fire-damage-model is correct as it is at the moment.
Maybe some ships might have been sunken by fire because of the fright or ineffective crew.
If you want to change this for LSH3_v6 you will have to rework the zones of 300+ ships with S3D.

What about just trying TDW´s mod? With it, the fire will cause serious damage to the ships, be it "realistic" or not. You may read this thread:

before, to get a feeling about what the mod does. Btw, in my own tests I always used my deckgun to start any fire. I don´t know much about the zones, but I assume, the damage occured above the waterline all the time. Although, the burning ships went down. For me, it seems to be a little bit overcompensated, but no tests were down with light fire or with warships in SH3 yet. So feel free to test by yourself and to publish the results. It would be very appreciated. There´s no need to recreate existing damage / fire models or zones design or things like that. Simply enable that mod and find out if this is what you like.
Thats why so often a ship without a spark suddenly explodes into a inferno when it has sunk almost below the waves.The reason for this event is the simulation of exploding boilers, when this extremly hot parts come into contact with cold sea water. It´s no bug, it´s a feature :D

Ahhhh yes I see what you mean. That would be pretty cool if you could see the crew of the stricken vessel trying to put fire out with hoses and what not and then it could either overwhelm them and they abandon ship or they succeed and continue on their merry way (provided you are out of torpedos of course)...

IIRC, a great teamleader said: "It's ready when it's ready" (copyrights by Kpt.Lehmann:03:). The LSH3-Team will do its best to release the new version as soon as possible. I'm absolutly sure that this will happen as soon as possible - no doubts.
But it takes some time to do it in the best way for all custumer. And that's what all user want to have - a stable running system with a great mod. The mod is on its way to the final destination - to be perfect (o.k., nobody is perfect, but to try it is is a good philosophy to give the user a well running mod).
So please be patient. It will come. No joke, no fake, it will come.

This is not a fast rig - but fast enough for SH3 with LSH5.1

Did you change anything for the first patrol? Crew, equipment, boat? That could be the reason for this. Change nothing before you´re back in home port after first patrol!

Your rig isn´t to slow for this mod. Don´t install SH3 in C:/Program files/... and follow the rules given in the readme.
I can't get the 4GB patch to run either.:/\\!!
The 4GB-Patch is necessary for the game. Why you can´t install it? You can try out the h.sie-fix and enable the 4GB-Patch there.
Checklist:
- Game installed in any other folder than c:/program files/...
- Game updated to 1.4 (depending on your version)
- 4GB-Patch activated (from LSH5.1 or h.sie) and the bc-edit order (readme), too
- First _LSH_V5 activated, than _LSH_V5.1
- No change befor first patrol ended in home port
If all those things are checked, the game should run fine.

It sounds like you have a conflict within an additional installed mod but a list of precisely what you have installed may serve in finding a solution to your problem.

I've managed now to start a 2nd patrol (after one failed load) and a saved in-game worked too. Fingers crossed for tonight! I can't go back to vanilla SH3 because this mod is just SO good!
The error message received was a standard Windows XP 'Silent Hunter 3 has experienced a problem and needs to close' box. Black screen.
I increased my virtual memory and increased the space on me olde hard drive. All the other check list things as noted by Paulebaer1979 are already done. The only mods running are -

Sounds like non writing rights in the folder. Please use right mouseclick, choose "info" and change the owner to "all with full rights" for your sh3.exe Than try again with the tool to patch the exe.
h.sie is a mod wich overs more functions (refresh fuel at sea, send officer to bridge after surfacing and other things). Not necessary for sh3 but improves the simulation.

Well as Paulebaer1979 said the 4GB-Patch is absolutely necessary!
Some mounts ago made a fix for LSH3_v5.1 working with h.sie 16B1, offered for some BETA-Testers, bat there was nearly no reply.
If the interest is big enough I will try to find a place on our ftp and load it up. BUT BE AWARE - it is a BETA!!!
