Im trying to download LSH3 from the website and everytime i DL a part for example:Partfile 3/7LSH3_V5_FULLVERSION.s01 (http://www.lsh3.com/dl/v5/LSH3_V5_FULLVERSION.s01)220‘000 KB
my download manager says the file will be 215,000Kb in size! That goes for parts 1-5 btw! Why? So Ive tried it twice from start to finish and of course when I batch them all together and try to initiate the .exe file it fails:

"Can not open c:/~~~~~LSH3_V5_FULLVERSION.EXE' as archive"

This suggests the files are corupted on download, as per manual instructions. I dont understand why they are ALL too small.
I hope ive missed something here...Im really looking fwd to getting back into SH3 and this mod after a long break...:yep:

I hope you can help me

I'm not sure if the DL-Manager shows the correct filesize for I use IE.

In fact it seems your Downloads did not work.

Gentlemen,

I am still having problems with beginning my camapign with LSH v5.

I use SH Commander 3.2 and I have the recommended mod attached as per LSH instructions. i load game through SHCOmmander (I DONT CHANGE ANY DATES, FLOTILLAS or anything here) and all seems well until the "Zero Latitude, zero longitude" bug rears its ugly head AGAIN when the missiion loads. Once, it loaded in Wilhelmshaven but i quit and loaded a 2nd patrol but i appeared off West africa again.


LSH v5 is the ONLY mod I have activated in JSGME at the moment so im guessing it has a problem with campaign files but how?
I notice nobody else seems to be having this problem so it must be something my tired head is missing???

ps: managed to load a mission in Brest 1941 but CTd when I went to map screen to plot a course. It has something to do with campaign/flotilla files not aligning between Sh3Commander and LSHv5...

That is the problem.Although I've activated the "Start at Sea" option in SH3 Commander, I always start in port. That can be quite interesting to begin with, but it gets a bit tiresome after a while. Is it possible that the co-ordinates in the Start At Sea.cfg file need changing to fit in with the more complex Harbours in LSH v5?

Due to the fact, that Kiel becomes starting flotilla twice in LSH3 we named it "Kiel_1" and "Kiel_2" without corresponding entries for SH3Commander.

Sent you the changed file for your personal use and tests via E-Mail.
The bug will be corrected within the Release of LSH3 V5.1 comming soon.

I do not see a complaint in your post, just a question! :yeah:

Just "Rightklick" your Weapon-Officers-Icon and change to his station. There on the TDC you will find a GREEN light. Klick the button above and the light will change to red - now "auto targeting mode" is on and the correct distance is shown in the corresponding dial.
Be sure that you can "lock" the target (L-Key) - submerged the locked status will only be safe within 6000m.

Sorry Thehiredgun for not answering your first question immediately!

The land objects, like bunkers, coastal searchlights and so on, are of the type land, whereas in GWX they have been transformed into environmental objects. By this they are not reported by the deck crew and time compression does not slow down.
If they are environmental objects you will run into the risk of beeing detected and shelled by the guns.

We do not intend to change this!

Well, this one has me really scratching my head.

Installed (only LSH 5 activated in JSMGE) LSH over a clean, unadulterated installation of 1.4b emea, loads menus fine, starts new career fine, loads up in control room fine, external view all fine too, soon as I go to bridge, everything goes black (except for the crew oddly), then, crash to desktop. Faulting module 'atiumdag.dll'

Never have any problems with GWX 3.0, runs no problem, and I did a clean-off and re-install of that just to test, fine.

Anyone else seen this? I've run out of ideas really, but I'd love to try this MOD out, it looks superb.

Running Win 7 x64, with a Radeon 5870 and the 10.5 Catalyst drivers.

If any of you chaps can advise in any way, I'd be indebted to you. :)

Do you have WIN7 32-Bit-Version or WIN7 64-Bit-version? For both versions, you need the "4-GB-Patch", for the 32-Bit-version you need the BCDEDIT-Command too (see the manual for details).

With those one/two add-ons, SH3 will run as you has never seen before.

for the pending Update LSH3 V5.1 we have optimized the torpedo equipment of all U-Boat types.
Amongst other things, the fore and aft tubes are reasonably loaded, so that a double salvo now is possible with two of the same torpedoes.
In order to present this information in an easy way, we have generated a web album.

Dear chaps, first let me thanks for this greates mod, and now to the main.

I was playing your great mod, SH3 stock (downloaded version buyed at ubisoft and upgraded to 1.4 patch) and your supermod, both of them alone (i mean no other mod on it) and as i was sailng the Kiel Canal entering it from Kiel, a little time after having pass the second bridge over it the game makes CTD, it ocurred two times, first i was on autoplotting but the second one i made manual plotting, could tell me wy has this happened. I´m almost sure it´s not a graphic problem, as i´m now playing with GWX 3 and some other mods over it and it has never give me a CTD, but i want to test your mod and then takes the one i feel more realisctic for my taste. thank you for your helping answer,

You need to also post the operating system IE. Vista or Windows 7 32bit or 64bit to get a complete answer :hmmm:

But this even is very important and we need to know!
Start Windows Explorer and rightclick on Computer. Select properties. In the System section there should be something like "systemtype"!

I guess, due to "6GB RAM" you should have the 64 bit type.


Where did you install SH3? Into "Program Files" as suggested during installation?


I would ask you to take the same route again (maybe autoplot or not). Activate the fps-display by pressing CTRL-F8 and please tell me the frame rates:
- in Kiel, just at start
- just in front of the locks
- at the first bridge
- at the moment the game crashes.

hi, messing around with the AI_Sensors.dat I saw that node AI_Sonar is of type "Hydrophon" and AI_Hydrophon is of type "Sonar". Thats right?! And whats node "AII_Visual" for?

Yes! Thats right. Ubisoft did mix these sensors up.
AII_Visual is used to have different sensors for the enemy ships.

Yes I remember getting this message long ago. When I did it was because I tried to un-zip it using Winrar instead of 7z. Hope this might help a little :hmmm:

Not really, as I only use 7z. I'll keep trying though - I just had to reinstall SH3 and this time I'm using Multi-SH3 to set up several different campaigns, and I really want LSH3 to be one of them.

did you download the one-file fullversion or the split version with all together 7 files?
In both cases you will not have to use 7z because they both are .EXE at the end!

I tried both, but in both cases the main file is listed as 7z. I need to look at something now.

This is to report on LSH3's customer service and tech support department.

Blueduck PMed me to give me a little one-on-one help, and after several suggestions and false starts, it looks like he got me sorted out! It took some work, but it seems to have done the trick. Everything is extracted and ready to move into JSGME.

It's late now, so I'll be moving the files in and loading them up tomorrow. I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas! :sunny:

Can anyone confirm the partrfile 7/7 is 186 MB and not 182 MB?

The save function in XP only identified 182 MB prior to download.

The other parts all came down at 214 MB and not the 220 MB listed on the home page.

well, the given file sizes are correct!

Maybe you missed, that the size is given in KB and not in MB!
If you divide 220.000 KB by 1024 the result will be 214.8 MB
And divide 186.542 KB by 1024 the result will be 182.2 MB

So the files you loaded seem to be complete!

Hi nik112,

the MOD "LSH3_V5_SLS_Schiffshorn-Leuchtkugeln-Seenotsignal" only works with LSH3 V5. It is a special adaption of "racerboy's" MOD for LSH3. Because LSH3 V5 uses a differnt "particles.dat" etc., this MOD dosen't work with other "Super MODs".

If you want theese effects within GWX, use "racerboy's" original MOD (search for "racerboy" here in this forum or look at "plissken04" FTP server:

(SH4 effects...)

The Schiffhorn works fine in my SH3 plus GWX 3 Gold, with the addition after the mod of the mittel effects. Until now, I didn´t observe any colateral effects, and the smoke (funnels, explosions and others) is right.

I use the MEP version for LSH3V5, but I think the SH5 water can work with LSH3, only version 16 km (or change the file sensors.dat). The last version of SH5 water is for 20 KM atmosfere.

I have the FM interior in LSH3V5, but the Aces Multimod compatibility fix isn´t needed for only that mod. I don´t know about the colateral effects of the series of mods included in Aces fix.

We are working at several forums front-lines!

Allthough I told you early this might be fixed in LSH3V5.1, we decided NOT to do it!

The easy workaround is, if the problem occurs, to sail out of the proximity of land objects, then save and restart the game.

Our recommendation is to use the free camera (F12) instead of the object camera within the vicinity of land objects.

Don´t work for me...I make severes tests and ever obtain a CTD. I have an ATI Radeon 4550 graphic card, 1 GB, plus 4GbPatch applied.

it is NOT a 7z-File but an executable .EXE.

This message usually appears, when the downloaded file is corrupted.
Did you compare the file-size?

just changed my Win7 to English to hopefully give you the right way:

Click Windows (Start) - All Programs - Accessories.
Then right-click "Command Prompt" and selsect "Run as Administrator".

Guess this should do!

Mjmmm...I think no, without some touch of the campaign files...The MFM is prepared for the campaign files of GWX. You can load the ships, but it need scripting into the LSH3V5 campaign files. It´s only a opinion...Watch the answer of the development team.

Hello Pelucho25,

out of the 90 ships of MFM there were some 60+ playable with LSH3.
Nearly 10 of the most beautiful ships out of this mod are already placed into the campaign files of LSH3V5.1.
The rest appeared us to be mostly a variant of the liberty ship.

If you really would like to take the rest of the ships be aware, that LSH3 already comes along with more than 200 ships. Rowie reported the last stable count of ships to some 250+. You should test every single ship you add not to produce a CTD.

And as Fitzcarraldo already said, the new ships will have to be added by hand to the campaign_scr files - some will appear randomly per campaign_rnd.

4. Activated List of MODS
5. Date in game when you experience this CTD.

well, the CTD might be caused by the bit more of information which has to be saved, but first is loaded into system memory.

The 4GB-Patch should be applied in any way! Howto see at: http://www.lsh3.com/dl/v5/LSH3_V5.1_Installation_EN.pdf

The date you have given should include the year plaese! :DL

well, in this case I am glad to see you've found the reason! :yeah:

Maybe deactivate all MODS, copy your SH3-Installation to a second folder and use one for LSH3 and the other one for Steel Sharks!

Have a look at "MultiSH3" delivered with LSH3V5/V5.1 to give each installation its own "SH3"-Folder within "my documents"!

Navigate to these 2 folders: ...data\Textures\TNormal\tex; and data\Textures\TLowRes\tex and delete two tga files: German.tga and German_m.tga. Once you've done this you will be able to see original German flags with swastikas on them.

First some info.

Had lots of problems installing my SH3. It's done now, at last.

Had to make 3-4 downloads from Living Silent Hunter 3's homepage, they where all corrupt.

Extrated to a folder, wich I named Living SH3

There I have lots of stuff now.

Here's my next problem. I tried to double click on the 4GB_PATCH and my antivrus program goes Bernard.

It's my symantec's DeepGuard that's goes totally Bernard

Or maybe define an exclusion for the complete folder Living SH3?

I tried several times, so I extracted the JSGME instead, but even here my deepguard went bernard. So did what you wrote. I disapled my antivirus. I then did what you wrote. Double clicked on the 4GB_PATCH but I got this messages ...couldn't open executable(or something like that)

I then created a folder in my UBISOFT-folder, I named it MODS and I movede the JSGME to this folder. Here's my next question:
How do I put all the mods in there, and where are they(all the mods)??

Latest version. 2.6.0.157.

I did something wrong, So I had to reinstall the jsgme. I downloaded it, from it's homepage. and now i hav two jsgme on me desktop. one is called Generic Mod Enabler - Desktop and the other one just JSGME.
I also have a copy of data laying o my desktop-I wonder if I shall replace it with the original data in the UBISOFT-folder?

Our pre-installed JSGME-Version in LSH3 V5.1 is allways the same original english Version.

But we also add the File "JSGME.lng" into SH3 Install folder to preset the JSGME in German language.

For JSGME in orignal english Version just delete the "JSGME.lng" file there!

So, if you install V5.1 you have NOT to install another JSGME.

(sorry about my bad english :oops: )

MaGui will work, allthough some smaller adjustments have to be made.

Concerning the rest of the MODS I'd advise you to have a look at the Minimanual: http://www.lsh3.com/dl/v5/LSH3_V5.1_MiniManual_EN.pdf
There in Appendix H the files are listed which should not be overwritten.

Or even just give it a try and error! :)

Well Fitzcarraldo,

these lists look quite nice but some of the "MODS" are selfmade adjustments or fixes for the otherones activated before
(As far as I remember A6Intruder or Magic).

Hi blueduck,
The post is No.146 & screen is titled "Stormy Weather Sunset Time", it could be a bad paint job but that sure looks like Water Stream, I know it relates to MEP but i have that enabled in 5.1, also, I have tried Rubini's Water Stream with no luck (mainly due to its GWX compatability me thinks), most probably my eyesight playing tricks! Great mod, do like the welders in the dry dock at Kiel, nice touch.

nice so see you finally found the right weather to see the water streams.
They are included into the main mod LSH3V5.1 so you "will not have to use MEP" to see this effect.

Gentlemen,

I am still having problems with beginning my camapign with LSH v5.

I use SH Commander 3.2 and I have the recommended mod attached as per LSH instructions. i load game through SHCOmmander (I DONT CHANGE ANY DATES, FLOTILLAS or anything here) and all seems well until the "Zero Latitude, zero longitude" bug rears its ugly head AGAIN when the missiion loads. Once, it loaded in Wilhelmshaven but i quit and loaded a 2nd patrol but i appeared off West africa again.


LSH v5 is the ONLY mod I have activated in JSGME at the moment so im guessing it has a problem with campaign files but how?
I notice nobody else seems to be having this problem so it must be something my tired head is missing???

ps: managed to load a mission in Brest 1941 but CTd when I went to map screen to plot a course. It has something to do with campaign/flotilla files not aligning between Sh3Commander and LSHv5...

Using LSH3 v5.1 and the supplied SH3 Commander and having the exact same problem

Installed via separate JSGME the LSH3 SH3 mod into SH3 folder.

I'm running Win7 x 64; 6GB Ram; GTX470 nVidia card.

SH3 was installed in the root directory (c:\). I don't believe I ran either JSGME as admin as I already have UAC disabled.

Hi, mates! I´ve maked some test with LSH3 V5.1 plus others mods. In some of they, I obtained CTDs; with others all works fine.

Can you post your JSGME list for LSH3 V5.1? I want to have the FM Interiors and all the stuff present in the Aces´s Multimod compatibility fix, plus Merchant Fleet Mod 3.2 (all these mods works fine in my GWX installation).

GWX one of the best super mods ! ...but listen nub, look at the officers hats, in GWX they are still vanilla and totaly unrealistic "Post Man Uniform Cap`s" you know, you realy need to read and learn some years here in the forums to understand some things, (LSH and german law regarding the swatika for example, or who did that nice realsitic additional mod (also for GWX aviable) regarding real officer hat`s), but that is normal... your a nub :O:

I've been a long time GWX user but always wanted to try this mod. I installed a clean copy of SHIII and followed the detailed instructions. The install went flawlessly and the game plays great. I am really enjoying the attention to detail and the flexibility of the mod combinations. This is outstanding work. I'm sorry I took so long to install it.

Page 56 - Appendix G "Naming Conventions"

In LSH some filenames of the tga's are changed and these changes have to be done with usual skins.

If you do not get it to work, send me the skin via e-mail (blueduck@lsh3.com) and I'll do it for you.

I've been using GWX for some time but now i'm using your mod witch looks more realistic to me, so i have some question that i hpe you can solve.

1. I want have the black contacts but i'm not sure the way to have them. At the moment i've activated the following mods:

LSH3_V5
LSH3_V5.1
DX9HiREsFix
Bunkerstart
ExtendedChallenge
Schiffshorn

My question is about ExtendedChallenge_blackcontacts, must i deactivated the standar one and then activate this or must i activate it after the standar one?

2. In GWX i used 2 mods that i want to have also in LSH, but i'm not sure if they are compatible with your great development. They are:

Flagsenlighten (which makes the flags a little more brilliant in nights)
Aces dcrew on deck stand alone version (which allows you to have using a key command your crew formed on the deck of the Uboat "eyecandy any time you return to port)

I supposed the way to know if they works fine with LSh is activate them and probe, but perhaps you know something about them and i could avoid any problem)

Hi,

I'm installing v 5.1 and everything has gone well, except I've come up against a problem with the 4Gb patch.

I run a Vista 32-bit system with 4Gb of RAM.

When I try to run the 4GB_PATCH.exe program from the "Tools" directory in my Living SH3 installation, I get a window which simply lists the files in the 4GB_PATCH folder. When I select 4GB_PATCH.exe and click on "open" (the only option I have apart from "cancel") I get an error message saying that the system "cannot open the executable"

Help please.

After you make a double-click on "4gb_patch.exe" opened a new window with name "Select Executable" and then you must navigate to your "SH3.exe" to the MainFolder of SH3 ! And then you mark the SH3.exe and click on "open" ! That´s all !

Maybe you use "MULTISH3" out of the folder "_LSH3_V5.1_TOOLS" to have to separate installations!

I've downloaded all the files into it's own folder. I double click the batch file and let it do its thing. When I try to use 7zip on the executable file I get an error in 7zip that says "can not open file..."

What am I doing wrong? The pdf installation file does not help on this.

Hello SurfnSea,

I guess you downloaded the split-version!?!
The batch file will create an executable .EXE, so you will not have to use 7z to unpack it.
Allthough the error tells me that a minimum of one of the downloaded files is corrupted.

Did you compare the filesizes with the ones given on our website?
How long does the download of one of the parts take you?

Hello OuNiS,

due to these missions come with LSH3_V5.1 they will have to be played WITHOUT the Single-Multiplay-MOD.
Therefore the full campaign-files are loaded and thus you will have RESUPPLY UNITS available. Press F1 and have look for RESUPPLY UNITS 1/2 when and where they are available. They will be shown in the map as a blue dot with the units name.
If you are close enough (25km) just exit game an chose "Dock at" - they are used like a normal harbour except that you cannot improve your boat and the medals of the crew will have to be given in the main room at "PERSONAL FILES".

All DL's which take longer than an hour (starting xy:02) will be broken up by our server.

LSH3 + SH3 Commander = Does it really work?
I have got the issue: I can't start my Career in August.
Each time I set one, it's like according to SH Commander it's August and the time is Sep the 1th in the game. ???
Moreover I can't set up my patrol grid.

Also: I am not sure about the fatigue model mod in JSGME and in SH Commander.
I've got them both activated and now I don't really know if I did it corectly. Maybe I should activate only one of them?

That's why it doesn't work. YES, I use SH Commander files for LSH3. I will try to reinstall it then. Hopefully it will work afterwards.
The mod itself made a very big impression on me.

Hello U2222,

SH3Commander changes files and settings used by LSH3.
Therefore there is a special MOD "LSH3_V5.1_SH3_Commander_3.2" which has to be acivated by a seperate JSGME within the SH3Commander-folder.

LSH runs well and my only glitch is that occasionally sunk ship symbols do not show on my chart.
Tonnage and details are however recognised in my captain’s log and SH commander which is what matters :yep:.

Did you try the HighResPatch? It should be within the LSH V5.xxx download.

Before enabeling the patch, open the d3d9.cfg with notepad and modify

resX=1600
resY=900

that should do the trick...

Note that on widescreen some things appear a bit stretched.

The patch V15G2 patch the SH3.exe and you found it in the SH3 Root directory !

Hi I'm playing the campaign with this mod. I am on August 39 with the fleet formation commanders and send me AO83.Me sink two ships have met several ships in the vicinity of AO83 which I believe are destructive but not that nationality. Do I have to sink destroyers? I think something strong patrol training. Am I wrong with the objectives?

First let me congratulate you on a first class mod. I am drooling to be able to delve into the far reaches of a campaign, but I have a small hurdle to overcome first. The game will not load any save games... I have followed everthing to the letter that I know of, but of course I might have missed something.. I have read every page of this post, and noone else seems to have my problem...
Description: I can load and start a new career. I can do anything in the game. I can save game, save and exit the mission, and load the mission again from within the game just fine. If I shut off the computer, load the game, I ctd at 25% loading a save. Last time it erased all my saves...
System: 3.0 intel quad core cpu
Win 7 32 bit
Nvidia GTX 470
4 gigs ram
80 gigs free space left on hard drive.
Mods loaded: LSH3 v5, then 5.1, then DX9 res fix. That is all. Fresh install of game into C:games1/ubisoft/sh3.
Very fast internet connection and no problems getting LSH3 v5.1 full install.
I noticed going through the posts your dedication to your mod, and I salute you with great respect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the great idea for a temporary fix, yet I would hate to be 2 months into the game and a storm knock out my electricity.....

As a future reference for others that might have the same problem as I, the bug was killed in this manner:

I looked at my save game files and noticed that a 3rd party program called "Realplayer" had converted a file in the saves to a realplayer file. I deleted Realplayer from my system and everything is great.
I can play and save normally...

Yes, it´s compatible !

Very important: You must first patch the SH3.exe with V15G2 Patch-Kit and then patch with 4GB Patch !

Did you after activation of the MODS try a start without SH3-Commander?

Like trying to use the canal impassible at 1 time compression it will run at 64 during the first straight. Any fix for this?

vista 64, 920i, 4850 X2 Just the living mod none of the extra mod's that came with it.

Close to the bridges are flak stations located which cause this behavior. These are placed there to reduce TC so that you get notice of this beautiful objects.
You should be able to increase TC to 32 or 64 if once all of the stations are visible.
Another chance would be to use SH3 Commander to change the actions of TC close to land objects.

I can add this "Commander" to the Living mod then? This is my first aka real mod.
Also i read that Living was able to time compress up to 2048 like sh4 Mine will not even try to go to that setting, but it has the power to do it should be able to handle 4096. It really seems like the TC is still in it's original state???
I do like the mod it is much better than stock.

So i will be sailing all the way around and dealing with a few of these hick-ups along the way, it would take a full afternoon just to navigate one way of the channel. I am at a mission that want's a patrol in AN-81 and i still have a Type II A so not much distance so i think i few fuel stops along the way will have to do. :hmmm:

Oh i see. Found it that file is not in the standard sh3 files, it's in user/"your name"/documents/sh3/data/cfg/main.
And it looked like this

NO, it does not work with GWX!

LSH3 is a Supermod like WAC, GWX or NYGM.
All need a clean install of SH3!
