This happened to me now too at the end of Patrol 18 : attacked convoy - all marked red - and intentionally targeted Carham Hospital Ship with British flag; result -5000 in renown. :arrgh!:
I think the thing to do is to change the value as ArnoldR explained in the Basic.cfg file - in Cfg subfolder of Game Data folder.
Set values now to and will see next :

I don't think so. I don't know if the "wrong ship sunk" function is actually working (if i'm not wrong, there are several things in SH3 files that are the remains of abandonned ideas by the devs, for instance all the shadow controllers: there aren't any shadows in SH3).
Better idea: look in the cfg file of the ship that you sunk (data/Sea/name of the ship/name of the ship.cfg). I think that the value for "RenownAwarded" is actually -5000... If so, then it's good to let this as it is. To sink hospital ships was not something allowed by the Kriegsmarine...

I think now it is basically the combination of :
NEUTRAL=1 + NCHH renown + WrongShipSunk=-1
I think rather than it is +1 (enemy coeff) * -8000 = -8000 renown points.
I think this unit is not in any neutral country folder (Roster folder). Else, this would give -1 (original neutral coeff) * -8000 = +8000 renown points for sinking a neutral hospital ship :doh:.

I enabled everything correctly but so far the Black Sea Campaign
spawns my U-boat at grid square FG28, 28 degrees 38' E, Lat 44 degrees 08' N? I searched and found others with this in this thread but after five hours of
attempts Nicht So Gut. PS stock, no mods, or with Beta Type IIb WAC 5.2 enabled, Same result. The Boat works fine in game. Same as the default.

i tried for weeks to fix this problem and could not do it . The problem is with Constanta port, if you can start the career in 1943, it will start in the Black Sea, at Feodosia .

Yes the Type IIb is working in WAC 5.2! I may yet after furter beta testing rebuild the files based on WAC Type IIA as a result of the tooltip clickable UZO.
The UZO on my Type IIb is correctly located on the Attack Periscope not at the front of the Turm as seen in game. It wont be too difficult to fix, or it will! And I will have to move it to the Front. I have several units built for an abandoned Black Sea Campaign and I am in Contact with HanSolo78 to add them. Or I will ask to make them available for WAC 5.2.
So thank you to Anvar1061!!! For past support and for Beta Testing the Type IIb and for your Skills!
Fix for WAC 5.2 Black Sea Campaign is in the spelling. ( everything in en_menu.txt should say constanza or Konstanza, NOT CONSTANTA! )
en_menu. txt and de_menu.txt are different. and the error also is in the WAC 5.2 Black Sea Loading Screens. in Terrain is the Locations.cfg,

No you need not change location name, try Konstanza ( German spelling ) also in flotilla name
Try Konstanza that is what I did following anvar1061
Paths in his post. In the land in editor the harbor name is Constanta, however the marker is Konstanza. I did one more thing but don’t think
It was necessary.

I brought the Waterstreams On line in my Playable Type IIb.
As we are limited to the U-Boat Slots available, it is actually in the type IIa
slot. Once enabled you are in a Type IIb. ( My mod is a stretched to proper
type IIb dimensions, a Type IIa hull, with proper fitting of Type IIb Hardware
and fittings, Plus in two types early and 1943 with a Wintergarten, and eyecandy MG-15s )

The name of harbour must be written exactly the same way in:
-data/menu/"en_menu.txt"
-data/Campaigns/Campaign/"Campaign_LND.mis"
Moreover, the number assigned for each harbour in "en_menu.txt" is used in:
-data/Cfg/"Flotilla.cfg"

I would have never repaired the campaign without Anvar1061

Now since its release in 7 months no HotFix was asked for?
I Suggest it be made for others who may wish to use it.
There may be new interest in this campaign very soon.

Have succeeded in getting the Black Sea campaign to actually work with SH Commander but any Konstanza starts still begin at zero degrees lat and long in spite of editing Constansa to read Konstanza. I've given up but good on you for getting it to work.
A hot fix would be nice but it is clear none will be forthcoming.

The Fix is Here!
It is one single Date Entry that confuses the entire SH3 Commander Platform
the Fix: uninstall ( if you want ) SH3 Commander and delete its folder.
Make sure you have a Campaign saved, or Start with a "player" profile
enter a campaign, go to barracks, then exit.
Open your Silent Hunter 3 Folder, then Data, then the Folder Cfg.
Scroll down to flotillas.cfg and open, go to entry 1:

I have an issue where the game crashes to desktop when I approach a convoy. I tried approaching with 64 TC but the game crashed. Is this a memory issue or do I just have to lower TC?

I was talking to BK last night for me/this morning for him. He mentioned that SH3Weather was something he was putting in as an option in the S3C revision. I would recommend that we avoid that app altogether.
I had two problems with it. I kept experimenting by starting at the beginning of the war, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or if it was the number of missions or some such. The first curiosity was on the third mission I would be traveling to west of the UK. As I got by Norway, it would just CTD.
The other problem was that when I would log back into the game, upon loading my sub would instantly crash dive to 1000m and hit "bottom". It would do it super fast, faster than ahead flank in full dive. There would also be some weird graphical glitch where I couldn't view anything other than the command room and I couldn't really move the view around.
I also noticed some peculiarities in how save games were logged in the main menu portion of the game. I don't remember the specifics, but some information was either missing or duplicated on the screen.
About the time I finally got frustrated enough to ditch it, h.Sie and Stiebler both came out with their weather fixes, so I started using those and moved on.
Haven't seen the problem since.

Okay, I tested approaching the same convoy at 16 TC which should be more than low enough. Weird issue, I never had this issue at ports. I tried out some new mods, I'll see if they're the issue

There is a bug in SH3 when crossing the Prime Meridian at high TC in the North Sea and Arctic that causes sudden CTD, I never heard it associated with Sh Weather. "IF" you want SH Commander in WAC 5.2 to work "At All" it will not start the game without SH Weather it just gives more error messages. If you you have ever created a single mission, or worked with Campaign files this is where weather entries are edited, Sh Weather changes these values before starting the game based on the month. It is the only script it reaches. These are tips for WAC 5.2 Players only, who have had trouble even starting the Black Sea Campaign 5.2, or using SH3 Commander with a career. Any other TC issues are well known since I started Playing SH3 in 2005. I hardly ever go above 512 for more than a minute, and never above 64-32 within 40km of a convoy.:Kaleun_Salute:

Okay, interesting info. Turned out the issue was lack of memory, too many mods running at once. I turned of MEP V.6 and it worked fine, which is a shame because I'd really like to use it :Kaleun_Mad:

This cant be fixed as this is a SH3 stock bug!
The only possible Solutions are..
1: delete alle docked ships in Harbours
or
2: place all ships near docks away from the docks somewhere in distance

Whaaaaaa? :/\\!! 2 Times I've launched my torpedoes with magnetic pistols and the torpedo detonates no problem but it does no damage :doh: Is this a bug are the messages about faulty torpedoes true?

The reason I asked is that SH3 Commander has been having fits with a recent Windows 7 update and making GWX virtually unplayable (see thread in the SH 3 forum).
Since I run on Windows 7, I guess I'll have to forgo SH3 Commander Lite in WAC.

I am trying Wac for the first time, but the patrol does not load. It becomes stuck in the loading image, with the red bar not going to the end.

Is that something you could put up as a mod for WAC? I'd love to have those for the Med and anywhere near or South of the Equator.

It doesn't work for me. I installed the v5.0 and the patch, activated them both in JSGME, and the game either crashes after loading for about 10 minutes, or loads successfully but doesn't allow me to unpause and the screen is all black. What can I be doing wrong?

Yes I will release the Tropical Uniforms. I have two versions one uniforms only , the other includes the mandatory head dress all must wear issued caps.
I will put them up this week. I took a break from the playable type IIbs, to build the Tug and Scow mod.
A towed alongside deck barge, carrying so far a GAZ
medium AA truck with mounted 37mm, some T-34s, and three Russian DB
Landing craft for Black Sea Traffic. Also a generic cargo version for WAC 5.2 for other rostered countries.

It worked perfectly, however the interiors leave a bit to be desired. As nice as it is to be able to explore the Type II and Type IX for the first time there are some issues with the (shaders?) of the models (in particular crew models) that make the lighting look all weird and unnatural, as well as some poor quality textures and not being able to access the conning tower on Type II's.
There also doesn't seem to be any animation for the engines etc. I think i'll stick with Flak Monkey's for now unless these are updated. Not the worst interiors i've ever seen though, they could be great with some work.
Hello is there any way to move the position of these gauge to the left ???

Can somebody show me the load order for the Black Sea Campaign + h.sie's hardcoded fixes?
My current load order does not work with Sh3 Commander (Gives me an error when I want to select 30th flottila. In Sh3 it shows Bordeaux as my harbor and spawns me at 0,0 close to Guinea.

David, just in case you're not aware, one can have the crew wear headgear in any install of SH3.
Simply open the associated crew config. files in notepad i.e. and:
- choose "edit"
- choose "replace"
- type "HasHelmet=No" in the "find what" section.
- type "HasHelmet=Yes" in the "replace with" section.
Save and done.

Hey all; Getting back in SH3 after years of not playing and decided to try WAC but several problems have occurred which I seemed to have worked out (CTD on mission load but disabling patch 5.2 fixes that..etc) but one thing is still consistant, incredibly long load times for mission load, about 15-20 minutes on an SSD. I have clean SH3 patched to 1.4b, then 4gb patch, WAC5.0 via JSGME, then 5.0 to 5.2 (which has problems as above but sometimes works) and WAC wide screen Ahenerbe. The game loads quickly to 50% and then crawls beyond slow; while waiting for it to load I did dishes (the old way) and grabbed my guitar and played a couple of songs, that slow.
Is this normal? (win8.1 64bit, 8gb mem, 2gb GTX860m)
***Also when I quit the game I get SH3 has stopped responding***
##I have given up on this mod, the only way it loads for me is with 5.2 uninstalled and even then it takes 20 minutes to load (at least), by then the desire to play is long past. For 7.5 hours now I have been trying to get this mod to work with 2 successes, so UNCLE. I thank the mod designer for his efforts but this mod doesn't work for me.##
Is there a way to get the U-Boat strait level underwater at periscope depth (or below) when sea is rough?
Asking because the sub is still pitching at 25m depth, when it should be straight without pitching/rolling.
Or is it an SH3 known trouble? :06:

I do not think you are suppose to use the WAC 5.1.

This may, may not help you.
From what you are describing WAC does not seem to be loading. I can only suggest a clean install again and attempt to load WAC 5.0 and see if that runs for you and then the 5.2 patch and see if that works. If either one of these does not work it is possible you have a corrupted file and need to down load another copy.

I am not real good with display issues, as there are others much more capable than I in this area.
Make sure you have the proper system required, i.e. ;
Systemanforderungen / system requirements:
CPU: 3-4GHz CPU – je höher die Frequenz desto besser

Since you are using Steam, make sure you have that set up properly on your hard drive.

A few commands in the HUD aren't working. In particular, the periscope commands (fully raise or fully lower) aren't working for the attack or observation periscopes. Furthermore, the captain's menu isn't working. Is there a way to fix this?

Clean install, everything working nice-and-neat. Started pre-war, ran 6 patrols and was transferred to a training cadre. Started with a new Captain (using SH3Commander) and again everything fine. It's mid-March, 1940, and in grid AN, I encounter a small convoy of three ships lead by an armed trawler, all Holland-flagged.
Heading to intercept for a stop-and-search, at approximately 6-7 klicks the armed trawler turns to face me and begins firing. Turning to face him, I engage with my deck gun, figuring I have enough range to (reasonably) safely try to engage and take out the armed trawler because, if I can, the remaining three merchants are toast. By the time it closes to 3 klicks, I've landed five hits without taking a single hit in return. Landing the sixth hit, the armed trawler abruptly turns hard aport...

I wonder if it isn't the CAM Ship mod making it CTD.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR USERS OF STOCK SH3 and OF GWX AND OTHER SUPERMODS THAT ARE NOT NYGM:
A lot of people have reported problems with Crashes-to-Desktop (CTDs) with this mod, and the problems lie with the CAM-SHIP mod. The CAM-SHIP (usually IABL’s M36B ship) has to be of Type=8 in order to fly off aircraft, and this is how it is set in NYGM. However, stock SH3 lacks the CAM-SHIP entirely, while GWX has it as Type=102 (which will not fly off aircraft).
There are two solutions:
1. (Simple) DELETE the SEA folder completely from folder Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1\data\Sea, before you install the folder with JSGME. (This is essential if you are using stock SH3.exe, without any supermod installed.) Of course, now the CAM-SHIP mod will not function. You can also delete folder Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1\data\Air\CAMHurricane, and folder Stiebler4B_Addon_for_V16B1\data\Roster\, since these no longer serves any purpose.
2. Alternatively, locate the references to the M36B ship in your SuperMod setup, and change them from UnitType=102 to UnitType=8. You will find these references in files: YourSuperMod\data\roster\british\sea\M36B (change UnitType=102 to UnitType=8) and YourSuperMod\data\sea\M36B\M36b.cfg (change UnitType=102 to UnitType=8) and YourSuperMod\data\campaigns\campaign\campaign_RND. mis (possibly also in file campaign_SCR.mis too) - search for
Class=M36B
Type=102
and change ‘Type=102’ to ‘Type=8’. (There may be several references to the M36B in the campaign files.)
That is not so difficult is it?
That is the only thing I see that may effect your set up.

For what it's worth I could never get WAC to run with the CAM-Ship activated. After deactivating it the mod runs without error but takes forever to load and I had issues with uber-Flak along with ineffectual and unreasonable Allied aircraft.

Just as Randomizer has said, I could not get CAM ship to work outside of NYGM. I tripled checked the setup but never got it run. It just crashes SH3 from the get go. Outside of when playing NYGM, I disable this feature.

You've probably all done this, but make sure the "Type" line in the m36b.cfg file says "8" not "102". That's the most common reason for a ctd.
To be safe, I've also only used the NYGM m36b and Hurricane files when using a cam ship in another install. Stiebler modded the NYGM cam ship Hurricane so it is different than the stock one.
Make sure to add the m36b to your Englishnames.cfg file and make sure you've added the ship and plane to your rosters and the game sea and aircraft folders, though not doing this usually causes the game not to start vs a ctd.
Last but not least, in NYGM the cam ship is added to convoys in the campaign.rnd file vs. letting the game pick it via a generic .rnd file.
NYGM has it attached to 12 convoys, but of course one can have it in as many or few as wanted.

I just can not get past the middle or tail end of loading before CTD. I just do without the CAM feature utilized.
WAC is notorious for long load times as compared to other super mods. I do not think is much that can be done with that. It is especially frustrating when after enduring the load time to have it crash. :wah:

Sounds like it's a no-go in WAC then.
I'm running the CAM in WAC 5.0 with no problems. Well, with no CTD during loading, that is.
Maybe this will help; not sure. This is my current MOD installation:

For instance, once the first five (5) mods are enabled, I go to (current game path)/data/Campaigns/Campaign and copy the Campaign_RND.mis and Campaign_SCR.mis from the game folder to the Stiebler4C_Addon_for_V16B1 mod, and then I follow the editing instructions given in Instructions_Stiebler4C_V16B1_Addon and Stiebler4C_patch_Docs. This assures that when I load that mod it has used the current game files as the basis for the CAM modifications.
I do the same for every instance Stiebler describes in his instructions, as well as ticking the CAM-ship mod when running HsieOptionsSelector_V16B.exe.
This has (so far) prevented any CTD during loading.

Got a question if I may. There's two files on the WAC mediafire page regarding H.sie's patch :
WAC5.2 H.sie Supplement to V16B1 (from 2019)
WAC5.01 H.sie Supplement to V16B1_Atlantic_Baltic_Campaign (from 2017)
I see people here are adding them one after the other in their load lists, in the order above, despite the second one being from an earlier version. Is that correct? They modify the exact same set of files and the file checksums are all the same except for the the _menu files and, more importantly, the main campaign file (Campaign_SCR.mis); looks like there's a couple hundred extra units in the campaign file from 2017. Is the Campaign file from 2019, being smaller and with less units, an optimized version or something?

Have great troubles running this mod; lost my second career because of loading CTD, and this time no CTD but as soon as in command room, everybody is killed and sub destroyed...how come all those corrupted saves? :k_confused:

graphics problem. my terrain is all black and sometimes coming out of TC my crew looks like they just got back from Woodstock and a bad acid trip. Does anyone know of a fix or card setting to correct it.

Has any one played WAC5.2 completed a full patrol without single crash to desktop?Here are some the area I experience CTDs and their likelyhood:
Bad weather (few times)
Man deck gun and flaks (sometimes)
Cruise mode (sometimes)
Ships sunk (sometimes)
Attack harbor (Very often)
Return Base (Very often)
Loading save (Very often)
Exit Game (Everytime)
I really keen on trace the cause of those problems it is just me or everyone experince the same.

Ive tried Wac before but always mixed results...my not so great a machine and screwing up the install. But this time will be deffrent. Intel nuk seems very capable and im limiting the install.
So far is working very well I just added your terrain file too patch 5.2
I just need more time to play.
Ps. Some of the best AI I've sailed against of all the SH to date...very well done. :salute:
One more question, is there a sun fix for Wac? I tried OLC's sun fix it worked for about 30 seconds than snapped back too a small white dot.

I could be wrong but I remember somthing about not using arb with full interiors. I also get CTD using H.sie supplement but that might have been where I'd placed it in the stack. So I pulled it for now.

Game crash all the time near Dunkirk and Calais still investigating the causes.Right now have to mark this area forbiden to entry.
Finally managed to make it work with my favorite environment...so far no CTD, everything working as intended.
Beautiful rendering with full sound mod for WAC.
But no Hsie supplement for Atlantic /Baltic theater cause it gives me issues (ID missing yellow warning window)

That warning usually means the game is looking for something that isn't there or isn't where the game thinks it should be.
In my experience, it's usually the menu.ini or dials.cfg file that is the problem and needed to be edited.
Obviously, it is directly related to something H.sie's patch is adding/changing so maybe that will help you narrow it down.

I agree with you, it’s a menu file issue.
But without this Hsie additional mod it’s running fine so far, I’m in middle of operation Wesserubung And everything is cool as intended.

Could be anything, I had crash in wac 5.0.1 rubbing in surface with 128 compression long way into Sea... I see ships vanish after a torpedo hit... You know...

Your example also sounds like the Sh3 crash dive blues bug from long ago. Regarding the torpedo hit problem, that is also an old Sh3 issue. I can't remember the details, but do a search for it and you'll find out info.
Never had the vanishing ships in any megamods fortunately.
Gave WAC5.2 an other chance, restarted career but later on.
Surprisingly, in Beginning 41 I’m still operating From KIEL, and have to come back there :doh: (7th Flotilla)
In all others megamods i should be in St Naz!

wac issues are more complex than other mod, i put all the stable things from nygm in a hybrid and i still have ctd with content, posible from SCR, and also from ship model bicose thew ship vanishing could be link to the ship model or to some element in a library. but i was getting hits on 2 diferent ships in a row and only one of them disapear.

Just installed WAC5.2 + Hsie's patch + Tycho's patch and ARB Wide Gui 1920x1080 and it runs smoothly...
No problems so far and looks promising.
I've got a couple of question though:
1: I see that the sub looks really splendid, it has changed a lot, so, is it possible to use normal skins for the subs enabled via JSGME or will they cause problems?
2: For the same reason, is it possible to use Venatore's uniforms mods, enabled the same way?
3: Is it possible tu use other emblems packs?
4: Is it possible to use an exhaust smoke mod with WAC?
For me at least, looks like WAC is more stable than GWX and causes less trouble.

It is normal for periscope vibration.
This is turned off by reducing your speed or Periscope Fix in the OptionSelector

Can someone confirm that the kingfisher class corvette in this megamode is faulty.It has some small difference than frog's original model and cause certain CTD whenever player come in contact with one of these unit.
You should add to the manual that under Windows 10 the .exe should be set to Windows 7 compatibility.
Before I did that I had many CTDs, afterwards not a single one...

Hey guys,
i need your help :).
I cant get this WAC mod to start working. Till now i had LSH 2017 and GWX 3.0. Gold mod installed with no problems.
For WAC I did a clean install of SH3. Due to the lack of install instructions, i followed official PDF instructions and instructions this site:

Even if i install WAC mod as recommended on internet site, WAC wont start working. I tryed to lunch WAC through SH commander, but no luck - i havent found instructions for commander, so i "clean" installed sh3 commander and copied the files from WAC light commander over "clean" sh3 commander files.
SH3 game also get checked through Unisoft connect, but instead of starting a WAC mod it starts original SH3.
Can any one tell me what im doing wrong?.

This means that your game is not installed. It is obvious that the game is installed in protected Windows partitions C:\Program Files

thanks for a fast reply :).
I have checked "just in case" and there is no sh3 files on my primary ssd drive (intended for windows 10).
SH3 is installed in on my second SSD drive.
I copied the SH3 files, so i have now 2 seperate SH3 maps..
The WAC mod is also enabled in jgsme...can you maybe give me some sugestion, what should i do?.

thank you!. Now the WAC started to work. The problem was, that i put "MODS" in 1 level of sh3 map instead in second level sh3 map...
Now i have one more question for you. Im able to start the carrer, but during loading of first patrol, sh3 stops / crashes and throws me into a windows 10 with error report:
"SH3 commander has found a running instance od silent huner III. Please close Silent Hunter III and all associated files before retrying".
Any idea why?.
Ps.: i was unable to patch sh3.exe with H.sie V16B1 patch.

Posted some days ago in another thread about this... in my case, GWX3.0 + ARB Wide Gui 1920x1080 and other mods of all kinds or Onealex V1.32 and up take 1-2 minutes... I don't know why sometimes the loading time for SH3 fluctuates. I have a 2TB SSD drive with one partition of 500 GB exclusively for my games, can't remeber the brand...
Does anyone know why the Radar doesnt work in this mod?

To me WAC5 has crossed the SH3 engine capability, giving random CTDs everywhere anytime. So it’s normal.
Long time i uninstalled it.

fifi is very severe with wac5.2
This supermod is a bit less stable than LSH2020 in 1920 x 1080 resolution due to limit ram memory that is sure but I think it should be tested with the new 1920x1080 DGUI (lighter than ARB widegui, eats less ram !) and I think WAC will have a nice stability.
I will test DGUI with wac5.2 soon because WAC5.2 is a wonderfull supermod !

Hello,
I am currently playing a campaing on WAC5.2 with the complete sound package and I LOVE it, except for the coughing :down: There's nothing fun about hearing the same 3 coughs every 20 seconds on a loop. I know those are added through the complete sounds package, but i don't wanna lose all the other marvellous sounds the mod adds, so i was wondering, can i just delete them from the mod files or will that break the game? And if I cannot just delete them, how can I still enjoy the complete sound package without my experience being ruined by uninterrupted coughing?

You can use the file Amb OceanSkyline.wav from WAC 5.01
There is no cough :har:
If you use a complete sound for WAC, deactivate mod, delete the above file, reactivate, and the cough disappears

and active again "complete sound for wac"

It is a really precious widegui for WAC5.2 !
Because of its lightness, it allows you to play wac5.2 with greatly improved stability !
Much better stability than with ARB or Ahnenerbe widegui.
For example, with ARB or Anhenherbe 1920x1080, I couldn't load wac5.2 to Wilhelmshafen base with full map F5 activated (needs to much ram !).
Now with DGUI 1920x1080 I can do it without any problem and wac5.2 runs very well in this huge port !
Amazing !
It is the best solution today to play WAC5.2 in 1920x1080 !

To me it looks there is no problem with the Startposition in original WAC v5.2 Campaign_LND. The Startpoint in Bergen with a 7c-boat in 1942 and 43 works for me.

I would get it out and forget it forever. It would be overwritten completely by the v52 update.
Its the same if one has the WAC Full 5.0 installed.

Not necessarily true for every mod. Depends upon the contents of each update. I don't know the specifics of what is in 5.1 and 5.2, but there could be something in 5.1 that is not overwritten by 5.2.

But I stumbled over a problem while working on the Real ASW Mod.
The Kingfisher produces a CTD for me (without Stiebler Add On), which could be reproduced on my other install of the mod.
To test simply create a SP-Mission with the ship and a player controlled sub.
Would be great if someone could try to reproduce it because I´m relatively sure that it isn´t because of my install and every other class by now works...

For the WAC-Kingfisher i use the complete Kingfisher-drawer out of CCoM12 in WAC.
But only for Testing porposes, i cannot really say i "use" WAC.
The reason is a Museum-Crash. So i find it is not needed to create a SinglePlayer-Mission to see that there is something wrong with this Ship in WAC.
Another Museum-Crash exist with the ATBS_Vildebeest.eqp and *.sns.

I have a problem. When I try run WAC 5.01 the game works fine. But when I try to install the 5.2 patch, the nav map is a double image and the locations of ports etc. are completely screwed.
And after a few seconds in the nav map, the game just crashes. I dont know what Im doing wrong. 4gb patch is installed btw.

I know I've seen this issue mentioned before, but since it's never effected me in the past, I never paid much attention to the "Black Terrain Bug" and how to fix it. I did Google searches, forum searches and did a quick scan across 115 pages or 1717 post, on thr WAC Campaign 5.0 thread. with no solutions. I'm sure I've missed it somewhere. In looking at my SH3 Commander set up for WAC 5.2, it utilizes the stock cfg file for SH3 Commander. Nothing special it seems. :yep:

I played this mod mainly for the detailed full interiors but it is a real biatch to make it work... yesterday it worked almost flawlessly. Today, with the exact same setup it CTD all the time, no exceptions, whenever i want to try a single mission (I didn't even bother with career mode)
I know there is the full interior mods for the VIII out there but I really love the IID and IX, it's such a pity this megamod is sooooooo temperamental:k_confused:

It is a temperamental beast, agreed. :yep: But when it does work, it is a visual gratifying experience.
I just run single missions when I do play WAC, the CTD issue foregoes trying to do a career.
This mod really needs some TLC on a revamp, needs to be placed on a diet of sorts.
I start and run early war careers on this Mod. I also have a Black Sea Career in progress too. Haven't had any issues with this MOD SOUP set-up :

When I first set WAC 5.2 up, I had the "black terrain" bug (that's what I call it).I tried many solutions but someone suggested that I use M.E.P. v6, and presto, it was fixed.
On another note, arn't the ports just amazing !!!

if you want to play with the interiors you absolutely have to use

but I have never succeeded in a total career without encountering problems..

I'm using this one, the problem seemed to be the 5.2 patch somehow. Haven't managed to get the black sea campaign to work yet

Hansolo no longer seems active on the project...
if I can give any advice, skip over a few cooler things, don't waste your time with WaC 5.2...
switch to Onealex mod... or Fifi's fabulous NYGM which continues to improve..
or Enhanced GWX from Toyotagt86 ...
these mods are perfect is easy to use and they work perfectly
I recommend NYGM by Fifi, moreover, he is currently working on the Black Sea version as well as the Mediterranean.. that is to say..
Fifi is a very experienced modder and I weigh my words... you won't regret it...

After talking about WAC5.2, I figured I've got a few hours to play my Black Sea career in WAC5.2. I mainly play OneAlex, NYGM Enhanced (can't wait for the new campaign files) and Toyotagt86. I must a jinxed myself. I'm stuck at 0 degrees N/S and 0 degrees E/W. Basically at the corners of the Equator and the Prime Madeiran. The only thing I did (that I can remember) is delete non-Black Sea careers. I'll try to figure this out tonite. :k_confused:

Got it fixed. I started a non-Black Sea Career, Saved. Added the Black Sea Mods, back via JSGME. On my 2nd patrol. All is good. I don't know, but it works. Come on Fifi ... LOL.

Mizzou55, I read your post earlier, and spent a few hours reinstalling WAC 5.2 on my experimental PC. It's been a long time since I installed WAC 5.2. I do have it on my Gamer. I kinda forgot how I handled SH3 Commander and I didn't want to mess you up. To me "WAC Commander Lite" activation was a bit confusing or if it's needed. This might or might not be right, but it works perfectly for me. I ...
1. Installed SH3Commander to my WAC/SH3 Game folder (inside).
2. Installed JSGME inside the SH3 Commander Folder. You should already have JSGME installed inside your WAC/SH3 Game Folder. This is for Commander Mods not SHIII Mods.
3. Set both the Cmdr.exe and the newly installed JSGME.exe (the one inside Commander) to run in a capatibily mode of WIN 7 and run as Administrator.
4. I downloaded a mod called "WAC Commander Lite" from the first or second post in this thred. Uncompressed it and placed it into the WAC/SHIII/Commander/MODs Folder.
5. Activated it with the Commander's JSGME.
I'm not very clear on what this does, but I gave it a try. All works GREAT. As mentioned above I was a bit confused and This is what I did. Any comments from other SubSim members are more then welcome. I find other Super Mods have very clear documentions. I do use DGUI's 1920x1080 for WAC 5.2 ProPo. which I recommend, and if you have issues with a black or a void terain, feel free to PM me. No problem, it's an easy fix. That's where Commender's JSGME will come handy again. My WAC 5.2 install runs great and is stable. Well hope this helps and keep me posted. Jerry (Baltimore Md)/ Doolar (CA45)

The Campaign files need some cleaning up and corrections, that help greatly in reducing the CTD's. But there are other things that need to be looked over and fixed to stabilize even more. Fifi's enhancement, if I remember correctly, also stabilized WAC a bit.
It is visual stunning when running correctly. Lighting, enviroment and sound are about the best. I do recommend a "at sea start", the harbors can really slow things down, frame rate drop from 60 down to 20 and very laggy if your machine can not handle it.
I do not think that HanSolo will return to reprise WAC 6.0. Someone else would need to pick up the mantle on a revamp.

Thank you, Wow thas a really impressive mod list. And yes The harbors can slow things down a bit, so I take it real easy spining the camera around, sight seeing. so far so good. But arn't the harbors beautful though !

Those harbors are stunning, but I hate those locks. What a pain to maneuver through. I did find the Mediterranean Sea campaign underwhelming. Never did the Black Sea.
never did the Med but I've done quite a few Black Sea Patrols. The Eastern Coast has quite a few more Soviet ports and is tuff. I get hammered !!! LOL
