Got to get it work, played first 2 patrols with IIA in 1939. There shouldnt be added Baltic campaign - then its very slow and unstable. Without it it works flawless, i am using only Ahnenerbe GUI mod and V16B1 patchkit. All is working well and the graphics and effects are amazing.

1. Inside your Sh3 installation you should see a folder called 'DirectX'. Try there to install 'dxsetup.exe'. (probably won't work but try anyway).
2. Then go here and try this one:

CTD with only WAC5.0.
Everyone who experiences CTD I recommend not to activate WAC campaign. There seems to problems with a unit or campaign files.

There are some videos in you tube which explains the aob ring usage, no in magui, but works very similar. Other calculus tool are explained in several post. It's true is a but hard find then. But I remember there a PDF with a explain , examples to navigation problems add intersection. I don't remember who made it. I have that in my old phone... If I see I notice you.

1. Look inside "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" folder for "Patch_SH3.bat".
2. Put "sh3.exe" (from game folder) into "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" folder.
3. Activate "Patch_SH3.bat". (A black window opens, keep pressing space bar).
4. Activate "HsieOptionsSelector.exe" (inside "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" folder).
5. Choose the options you like and click "OK" (bottom left).

Install your Sh3 game folder to your C: drive (or a drive that has not your operating system (OS) on it), like here:

What does it mean for the WAC5.0 user?
1. The WAC campaigns are split up into two campaigns: WAC5.0 Campaign_Atlantic_Baltic+WAC5.0 Campaign_Mediterranean (only one campaign can be used at a time)
2. It is possible with WAC5.0 to use the new full interior mod (WAC5.0 Full_Interior) of the u-boats, but NOT together with a widescreen mod (WAC5.0 Ahnenerbe Wide GUI or WAC5.0 Manos Wide GUI)
3. Additional modifications (ships, airplanes, harbours, etc.) CAN cause a CTD with WAC5.0, if the RAM usage is beyond the maximum

im running the frankesntain from nygm+wac. and until now with 2 patrol, I have only 1 ctd runnning at 512 tc, very posible for airplanes becose the game have litle frezze when they come into zone.
The only thing changed from nygm was submarine models, sensors used by nygm units, random layer for atlantic campaing( but i tested with wac random and it doesnt crash), configuration files. Of course little changes id some ship (M36B, some land, and erase M11b becose i cant fix them for some reason). Im using a very heavy conbination fo mods vondos and mfm (selection around 50) and it does not crush the ram limit.
I havent tested on going masive convoy in atlantic.
WAC and NYGM are very close indded much than WGX, only 50 lines in campaing files have to be changes to use wac land.
On the other hand please, recheck the docked units in ports. I have seen ships exploting in denmark ports, St nazarre, and a madmax tawler ship in fleshburg crashing with the dock as a kamikaze.
my pc- amd FX X6 6300 + nvidea 550 ti evga (double buffer version) + 8 gb ddr3 1800 + monitor HD+ dell 23" (runing on manos 3.4 gui) + HD WD 5600 blue 500gb X3 (os, paging file, data incluiding game files)

What's your list?
I installed much first, wac5.0 folder ( both have been deleted to no repeat files and no update files that nygm needs), then h.sie add-on, Steinble add-on (nygm submarine support this), extra files for h.sie from steibler, then I add more ship packs, gui and then camping files.
I also have a normal way installation with h.sie only with wac5.0, adon h.she, camping file Atlantic, gui, ambient light

I don't believe hansolo and steibler should like that.
I make this mix become I was looking for best of 2 mods, I don't think to upload it.
On the other side with this you lose the beautiful subs from was. I think you should wait the files from hand solo.
If some one talks with hand solo and steibler and both accept someone upload a combination of their mods I should upload it, but I don't want to spend time with that.
It's no my mod, I just make some compatibility changes, and test some mods combination.

Hello, loving the mod.
Possibly inexperienced question, i have a monitor that runs native 1440p, at 31 inches. Will there ever be a mod that allows for the game to be played at that resolution? I can edit the d3d9.ini however as expected, the UI does not scale properly.
Perhaps there is no mod needed? Does anyone know a way to scale the UI for higher resolutions? Thank you and good hunting

I really want to thank you Hans for this wonderful mod. I am starting with a fresh re-install of SH3, and I feel like it is a new game. So far everything looks great, I'm only starting out on my first mission before the war, getting used to the ship, practicing my distance measurements, etc.. It's been a while since I was back in SH3.
I have a question about radio messages. It seemed like in previous versions or mods I was always getting radio messages, sometimes relating to "world news", sometimes giving me instructions. I noticed in this version I haven't yet received any radio messages. Is it just too early (August 9 lol)?
I don't really have a problem with that, I just didn't know if this was something built into the mod, or if I'm just not being patient. (When I send a status report I do receive a response, so I know the radio is working).
Thanks again anyway for making a very clean and easy to install mod! I love it!

just loaded and testet the new 5.0...
it´s stunning !! Really awesome !! especially the full interios for Type II and IX.
Very impressive. Great work.
Finaly a WAC Version which contains so many things, that i had to load and activate seperately in the past and sometimes the mods did not work together and so on and so on...
But now, all in one , absolutly great !!
But a few questions left.
In the last version of the interiors of flakmonkey i had the possibility to get back to the last freecam position by hitting the "0"
And a click on the right mouse button should bring me back from top of the tower inside the tower. But if i do the right click the camera stands over the ocean and my boat sails away :hmmm:
That must be wrong...
And could it be that the textures in the commandroom and officers quarters are low res ? Why? for performance reasons ?
And the first conning tower of VII C looks as a early pre war version like VII B
there´s missing these wind or watershield or what ever it was ..
It has been a few years since my last time on SH3 with Wac 4.1, but these missing things i remember....
I thought the VII B and C models from wise or kovall were higher in detail, or were they reduced for performance reasons ??
well,
i used as one of my first gameplay tests the golden Zeit single mission with a Type IX B . That was great and much fun. Sunk many ships..
beautyfull explosions and smoke. At some points looks a little bit too much like fireworks, but awesome anyway.
The Type IX aft torpedoroom is very nice work ! Well done ! But can you tell me how the aft portside tube should be reloaded ?? there is the one part in the way, so the torpedo would not fit in the tube...
But if i oversee this , the aft torpedo room looks very nice. It´s a conversion of the bow torp. room from type VII and the aft tube from type VII was copied and pasted next to the first or not ?!
Great idea to make the aft torp room without having too much work with making the room completely new.. !
I´m looking forward to start a new career with the "Einbaum" and the beginning at Kiel..
Hopyfully the airbase near the target area has gone. In WAC 4.1 i had always if i start in august 39 and i went to the target area very much airplanes as my first torpedo hit the target ship. From one second to the next there appeared a german airplane squadron which attacked the target ships and sunk them all, so there were nothing left to do for me...
I hope this bug is fixed now.. But i will see it as soon i start the new career..

hey guys, i'm very excited that WAC is finally out. I have installed WAC and i attempted to use the Ahnnerbe wide-screen mod the is linked in post number 1. But when i went into the game, i got to the menu fine, but when i went to load up either the campaign or a single mission, it crashed in the loading screen. Is there a fix to this? Also my Norton anti virus, detected the d3dl as a threat, but even after i said to ignore it and i even deactivated it, it still crashed.

Ahoy again!
Thx for your feeeback. Type II interiors we're made by Tomi_99 for Gwx4 some years ago. He send me the files which were for SH4 and I converted his work. Type IX interiors I made from Flakmonkeys Work and SH5 aft torpedo room, like you thought.
About your problems...
Have to examine that shortcut. Maybe it was lost due to the new commands from Ahnenerbe u-boats and the new camera file.
The subs from Koval&Wise are definitely more detailed. I did only reduce some textures, what is hardly noticable.
In the full interiors I had to reduce as much as possible because of memory reasons.
About the target ships... I think theywill still be attacked. It is training areas for all. But... you have to test.
Hopefully the WAC patch can bei released soon, so it will be much more stable to Play

Well, the game does go fullscreen, but it is simply upscaled 1080p, I was wondering if there was a way I could play in 2560x1440p properly, so I can appreciate the textures better. Doesn't look so good on my monitor.

Hello Han,
Would be lovely if you could fix that. It is my favorite way to "walk" on deck or climb down again.. And i like the function with the 0 button. Stand in front of the periscope occular, click on it to watch and hit the 0 to go back where i was before.. It inforces the feeling to move real through the boat.
With all the other mods that wac 5.0 contains SH3 is going to bee perfect..
Is the usage of a widescreenmod in combination with full interiors that critical???
Perhaps i will try it and look what will happen..
A question concerning the diesel engine sound.. In type II and VII allmost not noticeable.. In type IX ultra loud. Well the diesels are directly after commandroom, i know, but when i go in the other boats in engineering room there must be a loud diesel too, or not?

Thx for your feeeback. Type II interiors we're made by Tomi_99 for Gwx4 eine years ago. He send me the Files which were for SH4 and I converted his work. Type IX interiors I made from Flakmonkeys Work and SH5 aft torpedo room, like you thought.
About your problems...
Have to examine that shortcut. Maybe it was lost due to the new commands from Ahnenerbe u-boats and the new camera file.
The subs from Koval&Wise are definitely more detailed. I did only reduce some textures, what is hardly noticable.
In the full interiors I had to reduce as much as possible because of memory reasons.
About the target ships... I think theywill still be attacked. It is training areas for all. But... you have to test.
Hopefully the WAC patch can bei released soon, so it will be much more stable to Play

It's Windows 10, and he goes into more than you probably need, but it is thorough. The LAA app is meant for 64-bit OSes, Vista through Windows 10 with 4 or more gig of RAM. There is no use for it on a 32-bit machine.

I finally have some time to refine what I was trying to say :yeah:.
I do play with the WAC Ahnenerbe's 1080p mod and it is playable, working fine. My only issue is that on my 1440p monitor, the far away textures can be rather blurry or pixelated. I was hoping there was a way I can fully utilize 2560 by 1440 resolution.

1920x1080 resolution is currently the maximum for sh3 and it will certainely going to remain. For exemple, with higher resolution, F5 map (which is already small in 1920 x 1080) should be too small and unplayable.

Any way hand solo, gwx have a very interesting feature with Indic camping. Black Sea camping is available in lsh and you are working on it too.
Wac and nygm are the most modern mods including more recent features. And more important to me interesting features in scr and rnd camping files. All mods worked the campaign files in different way, but these 2 are a little more interesting than gwx and lsh.
I didn't tray ccom , never worked well for some reason.
And I didn't check abissm megamod I don't remember compete name.

I've just installed everything from scratch for the first time including the V16 Patch kit which comes with the Hsie Options Selector and the unofficial V 1.6 (I think) 4Gb Patch
I've not run with SH3 for a long long time
So I'm no expert on SH3 Mods
I got WAC 5.0 from a link off a Post from HanSolo
The Download was from Mediafire it came in 4 parts around 5.4 GB
I extracted the files with Winrar. WarAceCampaign 5.0.7z.0001 being the RAR Archive
There is also a PDF File with Installation Instructions
I'm not sure what you have, if its a notepad file with .txt or .pdf extension I'd read it see what it says

This Mod + the Patch Kit ETC comes with some the best instructions I've ever seen on Subsim, It took me a while to get everything set up but Its all working first time fine no problems

The patch is right now in testing.
It will be released tomorrow if the ctd and camera bugs are fixed and no more bad feedback comes in. There will be a ReadMe what will be fixed.

Sometimes WS will work with full interiors... but it can result in a crash to desktop if the memory is reaching 3,7GB.
I am still looking for a way to make them both possible... some things have to be 'shortened'. I have to investigate! The last weeks had bugfixe priority! Stability comes first!!!
One way you definitely can use them together is without activating the campaign files. But that would mean only stock campaign :-?

Hm... did you choose win7 compability with SH3.exe, run as admin and activate vsync?

ok i´ll try it out..
But i´ve got still that problem with the camera on the conning tower. by doing a right click i go not down inside the tower as it supposed to bee, no i am still flying above the sea and my boat sails away...
should that not be fixed too ??
i tried several combinations in the load order but nothing helped.
i am playing with full interiors
must the patch then behind the full interiors ??
I remember from the past that this issue has to do with the cameras.dat, but what exactly i don´t know anymore. it has been too long since i dealed with that.
edit:
same problem as first time. even with the new wide gui from ericlea. i put sh3.exe on compatibility to Win 7 and ran it as administrator.
it´s on the two additional files. the d3d.ini and dll. one of them or both caused this problem.

The camera Problem to return into conning tower from deck I found in the interior CT files. A bugfix would need to do the whole interior again. So I decided to skip this.

I got the same problem at the attack periscope. If i hit the 0 like at the uzo or ops periscope, i am suddenly above my boat and it says bye bye again to me..
There is a fix from a previous version.. I think o used it at WAC 4.1
It has a cameras.dat and a commands de. Cfg file
If i activate it, it seems to work. Click on right button and i am back inside.
But another new problem occured. The periscopes are not useable. If i want to raise them, they are not going up in the sky, no they are sliding out to portside and stack in the water... If i look through it seems that they were still in their shafts...
Maybe this periscope-thing is fixable by you guys?
But i have to test if it works on type 2 and 9 too..
This camera thing is a standartfunction, that worked at all previous WAC versions, why not here too?

No problem at the time of running and playing the game.
Minimum bother is that the nights are very dark, such as reality. And I liked the fatigue mode of the crew. Otherwise, everything is perfect.

One excludes the other. I'm not sure that the patch includes the fix. I haven't checked. You can do it yourself.

Docked at the Kiel port, during the night, everything is dark. The buildings do not project light, as if they were in the middle of the ocean. Is it my problem, or is it usually like that?

Hello everybody!
Again Im trying to back to SH3 and this time I decided to look at other supermods (only played with GWX before) and I was shocked to see system requirements for this mod! :)
My PC is from 2009, it runs SH3+GWX+other mods without problem, it runs stock SH5 without problem as well.
Its equipped with second gen quad 2,5 Ghz GTX 260 1790Mb VRAM, and there is only 6GBs of RAM. So thats really below listed system requirements, but maybe I have a chance to run this mod?

CPU: 3-4GHz CPU –more high frequenzy is better
RAM: 4GB free RAM – more can avoid stuttering
GPU: AMD 7750 and higher or Nvidia GTX660 and higher with 2GB RAM

I dont see a point to test it then, if GTX 660 is minimum required to run it. Its obvious that GTX 260 will not be able do it.
All this sounds strange, bcz GTX 260 is able to run SH5 which is obviously more visually adavnced than SH3 with all mods on the earth installed.
Maybe someone had luck to run WAC on PC similar to mine?

I don't believe is video card issue. I'm sure it's something bad in Suriname files or some related files in library folder.
Campaign files and ships files with his needed library files run fine in a mix with night without no one ctd. The only ctd I had was to much load at startup, just use mfm as modules. That's my expense. And the Norway invasion is great bro...

If career or museum loading gives you a ctd then there is an error in installation!

Oh, another remark, why are the basic 1.st, 2nd and 3rd flotillas until mid to late 41 based in Wilhelmshaven and Kiel?
They were in fact removed in French harbours august/september 1940... :)

i followed West from Irland until North from Scapa Flow and go back
then i followed West from Spain until Gilbraltar
Wind 0, 7, 10, 11 and 15..... a lot of alone DD of this long road and 3 small convoys+escorts met and .....
...Absolutely No DD bug !
it works !
I specify i have already spent hours and hours on the same road before, there was always this DD Bug even with waves wind 10 and it is thirst time i had no DD bug !

It's a false solution. But there are no negative effects. All other compartments have the right values and so dd can sink by flooding.
The reason to set crash depth to 20 is the wrong position of compartment (floodb) in .zon file of many DDs. It is too low. I'm working on it but I'm alone so I need a lot of time. Be patient. :)

You can try. The problem is that, as i told, DDs compartments in zon file are not in the correct position. Zones n.167 and 168 should be placed up the bow and up the stern.
If you have heavy sea and, because of the pitching of the ship, bow or stern go down more than the value you setted in "crash depth", that compartment is immediately destroyed and the DD sink.
It is also necessary to change the values LR and UD, as i wrote in previous post, to reduce the roll and the pitching of the ship..
Batteships and cruisers do not suffer of this problem becouse they are biggest.

Where i am able to change flotilla new basis dates? I want to be stationed on French coast as in real history in july-september 1940, not to wait and always loose time and fuel circling around British Isles until mid to late 1941. :)
For example, 2nd flotilla was moved to Lorient as early as in june 1940, here its in june 1941. :doh:

2/ about flak c30 zwiling . i noticed that aiming at an a/c and bullets going
abou 20 degree to the right, insted of c30 that aiming its ok
3/ now about explosions and wakes. I think that is too white and bright
compare #1 with #2
In my opinion water color of the explosion ( white) its more "natural" than #1
the same with wakes

First, my warmest congrats for this incredible work, I've been in the boat with WAC 2.15 years ago and I enjoyed it a lot. So I would be very pleased to install this 5.01 package - if only i knew what to download without missing anything, sorry in advance for my ignorance and thanks to confirm me this:
What I have is the original SH3 DVD + 1.4 patch + files that replace Starforce-infected files. I install all this first, right? Then:
I download xxx.000 to xxx.004 + Patch + the 2 campaigns.
Until there it's rather self-explaining, but then...humm...
Then, do I download only 1 or all 3 'Widescreen 1920x1080 files ? My monitor is best played at exactly this 1920x1080. The Install PDF says I cannot play together the full boat interiors at this res, does it mean I'll play in 4:3 with black borders if I want full interiors ?
Then, every file that comes afterwards are optional (starting with 'Addons' etc.), not needed to run WAC 5.01 ?
Then, most importantly: Like in the Install PDF, all I need to activate to run this mod in JSGME is 'WarAceCampaign 5.0' ? The other ones in the list on the left also but optional?

That depends on what is your favorite taste. I created this water in purpose and it is my taste. For this issue there are several other colours available in my mediafire account.
For the water explosion I have to look for the responsible texture. Maybe it is enough to darken it.

I have installed the whole package of WAC 5.01 with JSGME as follows after applying the 4GB RAM patch:
WAC 5.0 main mod
WAC 5.01 patch
Campaign Atlantic/Baltic
Widescreen patch from Ahnenerbe
First, I have problems starting the game in my Windows 7 Pro x64, i7 4ghz, 16GB RAM, GPU GTX 960 4GB. I get the Engine 3D error (not initializing.)
I then edit the main.cfg file to set the highest supported SH3 resolution to 1280x1024. But I also have to change my desktop resolution to this value in order to start SH3.
With Ahnenerbe's widescreen mod enabled the interface is all ok at 1920x1080, also the U-Boat interior if I start the Navigation tutorial.
However, I find it cumbersome that I cannot go to the different U-boat compartments by simple clicking, with the cursor keys I can move around but not occupy a specific place, e.g. the sonar station or rising periscope etc, for that I must use the shortcut keys, so the interiors are beautiful but of no practical use, as far as I can see (I'm surely missing something).
Or do the changed interiors not appear in the tutorial missions? Also, if I deactivate Ahnenerbe's widescreen, there is absolutely no difference with the u-boat interiors except that now they are in 4:3 (or at my set 1280x1024?).
The 'Museum' doesn't work, it loads but the progress bar gets stucked and I have to kill SH3 with the Task Manager.
That's it for the moment, I will try to see if I can improve things on my rig by following the 'SH3 2014+' guide in the Help&Tips section.
Thanks for getting me a feedback of how to move within the U-boat without constantly using the arrow keys, I remember the stock version uses simple mouse clicks. (the station text like 'Sonar' , 'Periscope' etc. appear when I mouse-over a station, so by clicking again I should take that place with the same effect as using the shortcut key of that station). I remember that I had to deactivate the one new transit door for the sonar room in WAC 2.15 already in order to get easier steps within the boat.

I read the first time about this engine error message.
I also have your graphics card and no problem at all in stock resolution or FHD 1920*1080.
As you realize Full Interiors so NOT support beaming to the stations. That is no bug.
Museum should also work without Full Interiors.

"Can not initialize 3D Engine".
In your Dokument folder > SH3 > main.cfg, what resolution do you have?

I think I have resolved my problems: I must change the scaling options in my NVidia Control Panel in order to launch SH3, to launch I set the scaling to Fullscreen instead of the default 'Seitenverhältnis'.
Still the Museum doesn't work but I can live without it.

Great mod HanSolo, i appreciate all the hard work you done and your team :salute:.
Really well done, new textures, sound improvements, campaign is amazing...
I have added some of my own flavors, it's just a matter of taste, anyway I have a question or two...i will post this question here because i think HanSolo will know what im talking about.
I have noticed also in other mods and in vanilla there is a problem
with destroyers in bad weather at wind speed 15 (high waves). Some of the destroyers will sink eventually like Hunt class and some others like Tribal class are more stable in bad weather conditions. So it's not just in this mod, it's everywhere...i have tested this in 4-5 different mods and vanilla and basically the results are the same. Some of them will become submerged in a matter of few minutes and sometimes they can hold on for about 1-2 hours before i sink them :arrgh!: .
So for those who understand a little bit what i am talking about, my settings in scene.dat are for windspeed 15 waves. Scale x = 5, y = 0,29, z = 5. When i lower the y below 0.2 of waves the destroyers are "more stable" but i have low waves. (I have tried other settings from other mods and it's basically the same) Also i was experimenting to change settings in sim file for a destroyers. Hunt II was sinking like crazy. If i change for Hunt II
Gravity center fr_ratio = 0,6 to 0,3 the ship is much more stable but not completely.
Now it can last for 3-5 hours more before he sinks. Also when i chage the drag (LR = 0,5 UD = 0,3) to drag (LR = 5 and UD = 5) makes sense? no.. but the ship can now last for about 3-6-10 hours before he sinks.
So like i said, i was experimenting to solve this with a combination of other mods, and i just managed to extended the life of a destroyers for a few hours more before they sink.
If i lower the wave value all the way below, they will never sink but then i don't have high waves at storm weather conditions. Did anyone had better luck to solve this?
And as you can see my english is perfect who said it's not. :O:

Now that I have sorted-out all problems in Win7, it only remains that single missions and campaign loadings take a lot of time (minutes). So I have a delicate question:
What would happen If I load only the 'WAC 5.0 Campaign Atlantic_Baltic' with the stock game? Will this work?
Is there any way to transform WAC 5.01 into a 'Light' version, taking away some eye-candy animations and objects in 3D world, yet keeping all new vessels/sub interiors and campaign files?
For example: only reduced 3D world decors from WAC 2.15/WAC 3.0 but with all new vessels/subs/AI subs and the new Campaign? Would this make WAC running and loading faster?
If yes, I would at least roughly know how and what to take away from WAC 5.01. I know it's a delicate subject, you have done everything to go to the limit, but sometimes less could be better for some computer systems...

Can I uninstall the campaign from JSGME when I play only single missions?
Then, it's excluded I guess that I could transform WAC 2.0/2.15 just to get the new campaigns Atlantic_Baltic and Mediteranean ? There would be entire folders and files to replace, but I would go the way, or: is the campaign aspect of WAC 5.01 similar to WAC 2.15? I'm mainly interested in the Campaign, mission messages during campaign etc. and less interested in eye-candy objects or environment. If the campaign is the same (but obviously with less new vessels) I would cheerfully play WAC 2.15 + some widescreen fix.

Installed JSGME
Installed the following mods:
WarAceCampaign 5.0

02-Gauges v2
WAC5.0 Subpens_Ambient_Light
WAC5.x_smaller_waves
I used the V16B1-Patch-Kit to patch my SH3.exe, and then used the HsieOptionsSelector.exe to enable 4GB (though I do not know if any command line switch is needed to use this).
When I run the above, everything seems to work (full screen, too, on my GTX960 + 1920x1080 display), but when I try to load a Single Mission, like Happy Times, I get to about 90% on the load bar and it hangs.
If I try to use the WAC5.01 WideScreensGUI 1920x1080 Ahnerbe mod, then after the intro movie plays I get a black screen and eventually the menu music is playing but the screen stays black.
Any suggestions?
It sure would be nice to get a complete installation instruction tutorial including installation of WAC, all related mods, SH3 patching, h.sie configuration, and SH3 Commander installation. Right now the WAC installation tutorial only covers about 20% of the work to get a complete setup.

Hello,
itadiver identified exactly the problems that come with higher/rougher waves. Settings for ship movements and damage boxes were (roughly) in line with the orginal SH3 wave parameters. Changing the parameters towards higher/rougher waves causes conflicts with the damage settings.
That means to have ships working properly in rougher sea the crash depth setting of all flooding-related damages boxes should be set to higher values. Also, all ships need to be re-worked for deeper centre of gravitiy and less left/right drag.
My standard testing of ship models is with the original SH3 settings. I took me a while to understand the interplay of wave, movement, and damage settings and why some people see smaller vessels sinking rapidly in high waves.

Yes. I'm reworking all zon files for my surface mod (BB and CA are ok now). I'm working alone so it will take a lot of time. About sim file you have to set LR=0,03 and UD=0,005 and nothing else.

The problem is not my computer, I get 50+ FPS once in-game, the problem is the very long loading time.
I realize the game is poorly optimized for modern rigs, also you need to restart after playing a mission to clear the RAM and cache.

Currently playing at 4:3 without Widescreen fix and all interiors enabled.
The interiors are nicely done congrats, but I notice some glitches:
a) at some point I cannot click the crew to give them orders anymore, a limitation I think so I must hit F2 and go through the crew again.
b) Normal clicks to access main sub parts don't have effect at some point after hitting SHIFT-F2 to move in the sub, also a limitation, but from there on all mouse clicks are screwed-up somehow, e.g. clicking on periscope, conning tower ladder or a selectable crew member doesn't work anymore, even after selecting a station with the shortcut icons.
c) Icon shortcuts for the logs and incomming messages (Logbuch, Funksprüche; main shortcuts at the left side) are missing.
d) Bug: if I click the main exo to order him something (e.g. go to periscope depth), the icons will appear but they do nothing when clicking and just remain.
Opinion:
This mod is beautiful, but has the same design problem than SH5: It's fascinating moving through the sub and visiting the new rooms - the first time - but after that: why would you ever go in the torpedo room or the diesel machine room? In SH5 you could do some weird blah blah with the crew that adds nothing to the game IMO, but here in WAC5.01 it seems to me a LOT of work for eye-candy alone, but I'm highly contemplating this artwork :)
Playing with mouse only should remain possible, except when moving through the sub (one can change to WASD keys like standard games), but at least when giving orders to the crew.

Is it just me or there is a bug with periscopes..when they are under too much damage they still function without a problem?.
I have modified periscope hit points and armor to 1 and set them so they can be destroyed, it was just for testing. And strangely they still work even when they are completely destroyed? :hmmm:

Against the black screen, go in your main.cfg and change to:
Synchronized=Yes
This should do the trick. Or: change your desktop resolution to 1280x1024 before launching SH3.exe.
And against being stucked with the progress bar: the mission/savegame/museum will all load but you have to wait several *minutes*...just read my posts above.
More than a tutorial, a fix against that is 'approved'...

I have the same problem you have. Black screen, game paused. end of story. I have the steam version of the game. What about a mod installation software that takes care of installation from A to Z all by itself and voila!?...

Changing to 1280x1024 resolution before launching sh3.exe will avoid CTDs; against blackscreen: see my post just above.
I have activated the 4GB RAM patch for sh3.exe before loading any mods, doesn't matter but you need to activate it anyhow or the game will CTD with WAC 5.
I suppose the crew on deck feature is dependent on how far you are away from the pier. Once I got about 200 to 300 meters from where I was tied up the crew finally cooperated and went to their stations. I suppose they just wanted that final long look at the frau's before getting their minds on the task at hand, wink, wink. LOL!

OK, I solved the problem where after the opening movie you get black screen with music, from this post:

Basically you have to run the game without the widescreen mod, then go into the game video options and turn on Synchronization. Then exit the game, enable the widescreen mod, and everything works.
However, I cannot start any missions, either new career or Single Missions. The load progress bar gets to 90% and then the game hangs.
Has anyone solved that problem?

The progress bar doesn't update at the real state, just wait until you are in your submarine...Can take about 5 minutes...Watch your harddisk working...
May I ask you, because you seem to have the same GPU than me (I have a GTX 960 4GB VRAM): At which desktop resolution do you start the game? 1920x1080? On my system this doesn't work, I have first to reduce my desktop to 1280x1024 or the game will not start at all. That's a trouble because my GPU will scale the image from that resolution on to fill the screen instead of giving me the 'real' 1920x1080.
The Manos Widescreen fix is better in this reguard because it streches an already 16:9 image with less pixel loss for a much better 3D world and interiors.

Just want to say: It's the Ahnenerbe's widescreen fix that causes the messes with mouseclicks in the Uboat (my feedback above), not WAC 5.01. With the Manos 1366x768 fix all works ok. UHHHgh... I think I can finally play SH3 and start a campaign...
