Well.. in that case you play with SH3 stock campaign files, except the harbours and buildings.
But you do not have the historical events,no harbour traffic, no big convoys, not much random traffic, probably no torpedo planes, etc.

Ok, good to know. Doing it right with 5.02, is ericleas assumption right? Do I need the baltic campaign additionally in wac 5.02 or is it already implemented?

Yes, WAC5.2 Patch includes all nescessary campaign files for the atlantic and baltic - no more additional installation needed!
Only for mediterranean you need the campaign files!

The baltic, atlantic campaign is already included and optimized.. reduced some traffic and units not nescessary.

If you compare:

Okay, coming back to SH3 after a VERY LONG LONG time away. I saw that full interior walk around subs are now possible for SH3, sort of like SH5?

But after reading the installation file for WAC 5.0 it states that you cannot run WAC 5.0 with a widescreen GUI and the full sub interiors? So, I take that to mean that I have to choose between full sub interiors at 4:3 screen ratio or playing without full sub interiors at 16:9? If I play at 4:3 on a wide screen TV won't I have ugly black bars on the sides of my screen with game image centered at 4:3 with low resolution image?

I'm sorry if my question has been asked before. Just trying to get some clarity. I'd like to play the game at 1920X1080 resolution with the full sub interiors and have a GUI that fits my screen.

Yes, due to RAM limitation, it is not possible to play a campaign with Full Interior + Widegui. it will cause CTD. You have to make a choice. For exemple, you can in thirst patrol play only with the full interior mod. end your patrol then change your jsgme list so that in second patrol you play only with the widegui mod, but not both at same time...



however it is possible to play with both at the same time in academy and in some single missions.

For weather, best is to patch with H.sie (without the weather fix checked) and activate Stiebler Env Sim Act 10 last on Jsgme.

Why is 4GB the max amount of RAM that can be used by the game? Is it not possible to create an 8GB patch using the same method the 4GB patch is using to give the game access to more memory?

Actually 2GB is the limit for 32 bit applications on 32 bit systems like win7 32 or win xp. With the 4Gb patch you can theoretically use 4GB for applications on 64 bit systems like win7 64 or win10.
BUT... in real life you have to substract the hardware memory space that is needed by your PC. So.. you will end up using 3,3-3,65GB RAM for SH3.

Too little to use more stuff and hard on the edge of running!

Hi. First, thank you han for the update. I tried and get the black land textures in the training mission. After a search i found the fix provided by Anvart1061, but this doesn't helped, same with fiddling with the graphic driver settings, black land. So I looked at the files in the mod and it may be the file data/Terrain/Textures/Detaile.tga. After overwriting with the stock file black land texture is gone. I can't even open that file in Paint.net, get an error message. Hope this helps. PS Is there any blank campaign files mod for mp games (like gwx online gaming mod) with no traffic and messages? Thank you.

I never got them but also realized in the past that Anvar s fix did not help other captains.

About the blank campaign files.. what do you want detailed blank? The whole campaign files except the bases?
Or do you still want the traffic but no docked ships in harbours?

I will really try to get the german radio traffic translation done in the upcoming week, before I will build my new gaming pc. The beta tests show no big deal breakers, except the interior which eats too much RAM again.

Hello HanSolo78 I must say that all your mods is really fantastic I come to start a career with order I must say that the submarine navigates really well the weather the sea all is beautiful ... more I have not had a Ctd yet! !!! after having tested your other versions I find this one much more stable even in term of fps except in the ports or the c is the fall ..! but no ctd for the moment, I must say that I had fun watching the port of Kiel while sailing !! I drive with Ahnenerbe full map c is the top now I would like to know if we can use UCS 3.01 Kombi if your friend Kermit has updated news? big thank you if I can afford a suggestion it would improve the interior even if it is not full I am aware that this problem of ram is the .... support type VII of course respect your work here I hold at current career progress is problems meet ... thank you to you

I want to congratulate you Han for excellent mod. It has a good blend of eye candy, realism, and gameplay. So far there are only a few minor glitches that I will report. In Kiel there are a few buildings Northeast of the start point that look like they have been buried by a land slide. They are on a hill. Also the tilt of the VIIB is backwards for surfacing and diving. I am not sure about the other types. That's it Han.

I'm getting a crash when I attempt to start my career patrol when I enable WarAceCampaign 5.0 Patch_5.2 .. It works just fine if I just use 5.01. It loads to the last 5% remaining, hangs, and crashes.

Mod List is WAC 5.01 + 5.2 patch. 1939 2nd flotilla. But even the training missions won't start.

If you can not even start a training naval mission there is an error with your mod installation.

No, there is not a problem with my mod installation. I've tried activating just WAC 5.01 and it works, but when I activate WAC 5.01 and 5.2 it fails to load. How can there be a problem with my mod installation when those are the only 2 mods I've activated with JSGME?

Try to activate WAC 5.2 on top of WAC 5.0 (not WAC 5.1)
It should work with those only 2 mods.

YES, there is a problem with your install. You aren't suppose to use 5.1. Just 5.0 and the 5.2 patch.

I got MaGUI working. Is the game supposed to take a long time to load? It loads, but it takes 5-10 minutes to do it and I'm not used to that since I have a SSD :P

I thank the developers for such a wonderful mod! It would be very good to adapt to the existing interface mods several mods with an interface with the native resolution of the game. For example, the interfaces of MagUI or OLC 127. Not everybody happy to use GWX interface. I find it very inconvenient and would prefer to use the standard game interface with the features provided by this wonderful mod. I understand that it is a very big job to add an interface compatible with the mod. I tried to adapt interfaces with torpedo firing buttons at the top of the screen for this mod, but my knowledge of this is not enough.Sorry, for my English.

Oh, i see full interior can't go with wide screen gui. Btw, is there a way to fix this? Or the game is simply too old to handle it. I mean perhaps we can have a ship lite mod that reduces available classes of ships loaded in campaign. Some smaller ships like sampans, who care about those? I would rather have both wide screen and full interior than having those kinds of ships.

I am having some issue with patching it with Hsie's core fix. It kept saying "no compatible version found" even though I followed the instructions to the letter.
Should I patch it with Hsie's patch before activating WAC? But the instructions say do it afterward. Also, should I let Hsie' patch activate 4gb mod or should I activate the mod separately?

My WAC 5.2 loads ok. I can play academy without any issues. Just single missions and museum take forever to load. Single missions hang around 95% while museum's progressive bar can reach 100, but just sit there for ages. Am I getting a crash or just they take long time to load? What is your average load time?

I need a bit help on RAOBF wheel in WAC. I was trained to use the wheel at x12 magnification. But WAC using Ahnenerbe Wide Gui, the magnification can only go up to x6. I tried to use x12-x6 conversion calculation, the tick-marks seem to be off on the periscope. So just wonder how do you all use RAOBF wheel under the current version of WAC? Or should I switch to Mano wide gui instead of Ahnenerbe?

Nice, I'll try your suggestion. Btw, I couldn't find the TDC on/off switch at attack or observation periscopes. I only saw it at TDC/Map(F6) station. So under WAC, I need jump back and forth between periscope and TDC station?

First of all I wanted to thank HanSolo and every one else who was included in the process of creating this great mod! Spending your free time on making SH3 even better.
It's my first post on this forum, and I've been playing SH3 a little way back in my childhood when game came out, so it was more arcade-ish approach in my edition :p2: and now it's pleasure rediscovering this game, with mods, more knowledge, learning about tactics, RAOBF and all that stuff.
Also wanted to thank Eric for the tutorial of installation, and although it's in french, with transaltor it wasn't too big hassle :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Seems to be working fine, but if someone more expirienced could take a look and tell if it makes sense I would be grateful, as I myself have only started journey with modding SH3.
Only to mention that I had bug with black terrain textures, even after using terrain.act file from Anvar, so I had to remove Detaile.tga file, as I couldn't even open it without error, and now coloured grounds are back :) maybe the fact that I have Radeon GPU is the reason :hmmm:
Too pity that full interiors can't be used simultaneously with optimized ARB gui :( tried them both in naval academy and it looked great! I see Eric, that you can run them both in black sea video, but I guess thats because of the smaller campaign files? so it's lighter for ram?
I was wondering would it be possible to make something like a "Full Interiors - Light"? Where it would contain only enhanced: command room, tower and radio room; just like vanilla game does. Maybe that way it would be lightweight enought for RAM to fit in 4 gigs restrictions of 32-bit SH3.

Anyway, thanks for great work again and I'm awed seeing how people still improve this game :salute:

You are right : full interior + opti ARB widegui (or another widegui) eats too much ram.


Black sea Campaign is smaller (costs less of RAM) but in more Hansolo had to reduce animations in the interior of the type II (in particular motor engines). So it works together with Opti ARB widegui ! :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Hey Eric, just a quick question. The optimized ARB widegui and ARB for WAC 5.2 are two different things? Right now I have ARB widegui for WAC 5.2 installed, but I couldn't see TDC switch in periscope stations. Also, I couldn't go up to X12 on my scopes with "ctrl+mouse wheel" command.

but...not optimized :)
that is why you don't have theese enhencements...

That's pity. Perhaps we can try a different route. How about cut down the grand campaign into 5 smaller pieces: Arctic, North Atlantic & North Sea region, North Atlantic/American eastern seaboard, Mid Atlantic and Southern Atlantic? You can start a career in different region separately. Also anything other than North Atlantic/North Sea region, you spawn on patrol with less fuel to account for the fuel consumed in transit.

Just another weird issue. I was doing torpedo lesson in the academy in a Type VII. I surfaced, stopped and restarted my engine, but only port side propeller is working. The starboard side just doesn't spin at all. I tried full back then full ahead flank, the propeller just doesn't work. However the not spinning propeller doesn't seem to affect anything. Is this because I use the customized skins that came with WAC 5.2? I have never seen this issue before.

A lot of campaign divisions = complications. and in more animations must be shoot down...

once we are used to full interior and when we really play we rarely walk around...

not easy with only 4g ram...


An engine recharges batteries, the other is for the speed. then the uboat have less speed as normal. when batteries are full, the 2 engines work normally and the speed is ok. you can desactive batteries recharging to have immediately your 2 engines and normal speed. but be careful to the batteries for diving, must not be empty ^^

Oh, I see. Thanks for the tip. Btw, where can I see if my diesel engine is overheating? I ran on flanking speed on surface for a while then my engine is damaged.

I already worked on some of your ideas like splitting the campaign files inro different aereas. Also splitted them into different years. Unfortunately this made no big difference. Sure there were some memory improvements but like ericlea says. It will get a bit difficult to get the correct campaign.
Maybe you also noticed that I already outsourced the mediterranean campaign.
I aslo tried to split the interiors in my hope to use less RAM but the main memory is used by the activated interior.
Maybe it is possible to delete rooms to get at least some more rooms. As you say.. interior light.
I will try your way in the next months..
First the release of the black sea campaign. Then other things can be my target :ping:

Oh one more quick question. My game always crashes when I am exiting the game. Have you seen this before? It is not a great deal because I can simply "ctrl+alt+del" and kill it by force. But just curious if it is just my own issue.

Yeah, but I am looking for some indications for upcoming engine failure. some gauge or a crew report or something like that. Cuz sometimes when you chase your target on high TC and forget about your engine setting then "boom" engine damaged.

Another weird thing. I am using the Optimized ARB widegui now. Everything works fine except I cannot reliable get the Attack Disc to show up. Sometimes I move my mouse cursor to the top, it would show up, sometimes it wouldn't. Is there a shortcut key to make Attack Disc show up?

It feels like that the ship traffic is too high than the actual real life experience. On my first patrol, I was able to score 25k tons; way above any of the real life aces. My torpedo shots were actually terrible, I only scored 3 solid hits on any ships. But abundantly available ships allowed me to spend torpedoes selectively on big ships and leave smaller ones to the gun. I also spent all ammo in the first 3-4 days of the patrol and sunk about 11 ships (big and small). If you put Otto Kretschmer and Gunther Prien into this game, they would have prolly scored 10 million tons each by the end of the war. I think in the real life ship traffic was really sparse in a vast ocean like Atlantic. And that's why convoy system is so effective avoiding u-boats.

The only option I did not check was "no external view" for movie making purpose. My point is that in a struggle to free up memory so that we can bring in full interior, perhaps we can sacrifice some shipping traffic. Lighter traffic is closer to reality anyway.

I am having a little sound issue. Sometimes the sound of bad weather and howling wind just won't go away even if I go submerged 100 meters. It would stick with me even if the bad weather went away. Is it because I don't have the sound mod for WAC?

I did a mid-night Scapa Flow raid. Here are some interesting findings:

1. When I entered the bay from northern channel on the east side, there were 4 wreck merchant ships. However, when I got close, I was immediately detected. The whole harbor was alerted and star shells were flying everywhere. My crew screaming we were under attack even though there was no one shooting at us

2. When I entered the bay from southern channel on the east side, there was no blocking wreckage. I was able to enter the harbor undetected.

Now here is an interesting question: are those wreck ships true dead?

If I hit it with a torpedo, would they truely die?:haha: I have a suggestion. Maybe we can change their allegiance to neutral (someone who never participated in WWII, maybe Argentina or Brazil). So instead of having harmless enemy unit, you have harmless neutral unit. And they won't alert your presence to anyone like a true dead static object.

This has been discussed before. When you are within 50km of a harbor, you CANNOT use time compression higher than x8. I usually draw a 50km circle around any major harbors/ports. Zoom in on your map. If you see black piers, that's a major harbor. Put a circle around to remind yourself.

That's untrue for my install at least. I did it for Copenhagen, Kristiansand and Heligoland. Both of them had burning ships and huge plumes of smoke. X8 works for me in Wilhelmshaven. However, I found sometimes when you reload a save in Wilhelmshave, you will see random explosions around harbor, but no huge plume of smoke and no visible damage after the explosion. What I usually do is get out of harbor as quickly as possible and go full speed at X8 TC until I clear of the 50km mark. Then I will save. Oh btw, I did NOT activate Christmas harbor and late war harbor mods. Not sure if those would have any effects.

Some of the data in the recognition manual is not accurate, especially the mast height number. The default vanilla ships are ok, only those custom added ships. Perhaps, some are based on chimney height rather than mast. For example, large cargo. If i use the mast top, my range is about 2000 meters off all the time.

I am on patrol 5. Some post action thoughts:

1. Sonar officer is sooo bad. Especially when asked to track warships. There are multiple times, the warship close by, you can clearly hear it loud on hydrophone, but your sonar guy just keeps saying no contact. One time it reports it can hear merchant ships 4km away but can't hear a warship traveling at 20kts at less than 1km away. He has all the metals up to iron class 1st class, promoted to senior and has radioman qualification, but still can't do his job right. (However, it may be a Hsie's mod issue not WAC issue)

2. U-boat's starshells fall too quickly: it seems regardless of your gun elevation, the starshells would pop at about the same height and quickly fall into the water. It is practically useless.

3. Torpedo: it seems side-impact hits are more powerful than under-keel explosion. My Scapa Flow raid, first try, I hit the battleship with 4 under-keel hits, but the ship didn't sink. 2nd try, I hit it with 3 side impact, it exploded in a giant fireball. Also, early war period, if you set contact fuse, it will reliably go too deep, but if you set magnetic fuse, it is not as bad.

4. Early war destroyers: I am pretty sure these ships are not equipped with ASDIC (at least I didn't hear any pinging sound). Somehow it can still accurately locate deep diving sub on silent running and at full stop. The first pass, I side-stepped the ship at pretty wide margin and depth charges fell pretty far behind. I went full stop on the last depth charge explosion at 150 meters deep. The 2nd pass, the destroyer turned and went directly on top of me. I maneuvered out of the position and 3rd pass the ship still found me and went on top of me again.

5. Too many friendly contact messages: Do I ever care about some destroyers departing Wilhelmshaven? (This may be Hsie's mod issue)

6. Shipping traffic too high: historically most u-boats came home empty-handed, not because their skippers sucked or their torpedoes failed. They simply couldn't find any targets. Here, I pretty much used up all my torpedoes before reaching designated patrol zone. The first mission I was patrolling in Baltic against Poles. I saw streams of polish ships and convoys escaping, many are very close to Germany's coast and even protected by polish air force. I mean seriously? What is Luftwaffe doing? What about Kriegsmarine's surface ships? No one cares about them besides a few u-boats?

7. Night vision bombers: in my Scapa Flow raid, the moment I hit my target, you start hearing swordfish bombers overhead. Without any flares or star shells, they immediately dived and bombed me. How did they see me? I wasn't moving and there was no wake in pitch darkness. They have night vision goggles?

8. Some special mission's instructions are vague and confusing. There was one that sounded like those secret supply ships/commerce raiders are passing Faroe narrows to head back to Germany. But it didn't give specific coordinates or date/time. It just says on "10.02". What's that supposed to mean? It definitely doesn't mean date because I am in February.

9. Game stability: 5.2 is way better than 5.0. I don't experience any in-mission crashes. The only crash I experience is at mission-loading stage. At early game, it rarely crashes. As the my campaign progresses, the crashes become more frequent. Now I would say I am crashing about 1/3 times at mission loading. Should I delete some of the old saves?

10, Can we put some beard onto the first Watch Officer? After months at sea, he is still so cleanly shaved.

Those are my observation so far. Will report back when I have more infor. Overall, the mod is great.

The problem is not the Ahnenerbe GUI but the number of neutral ships in the mod (WAC) when it is used a time comprehension of maximum 32 mainly in ports falls to windows 10 desktop (with everything as administrator)
I see that this mod is very loaded.
I think it would look better on a last-generation Intel processor.
Note: More if there was a small mod to reduce the traffic of neutral ships would not fall more to the windows desktop. :up:

Btw, the recognition manual doesn't have enemy submarine info. So where do I find enemy sub info?

Some things to clearify...

1.
Programming and testing sensors of SH3 is very time consuming. To test other settings simply copy sensors.cfg and sim.cfg from Cfg folder. Maybe the changes fit better.
But it has to be tested in many situations.

2.
Ship traffic or harbour traffic can be stipped down easily. I can show here if you want, so you can make a light version.

3.
Air atracks are controlled by airbase.cfg in Cfg folder.

4.
The radio traffic is mainly optimized in german. Please give specific information which date undetailed mission orders arrived.

5.
CTD at loading savegames has been an issue from the beginning but it increased with the amount of data in SH3. Remember.. this game is from 2005!

6.
Feel free to change the watch officer skin. There are many in maiks SH3 archive.

7.
Friendly radio reports are necessary to participate in german operations like 'Weserübung'. To get immersion and give the opportunity to meet the germam homefleet or support ships, watch battles of german warships.

8.
Starshells were created in that way by Kendras. Deel free to use the default ones.

For 1, I don't think it's sensor issue. I think sensors are working fine. Just AI is stupid. AI is not reporting contact even though you can hear it on sonar yourself.

For 5, if I delete old saves, would that help to reduce amount of data to load? Also, I found out that if you do "save and exit". That save would have high probability of crashing. Normal saves are ok.

Oh, btw, are you aware that a lot of ship dimension data in recognition manual is inaccurate? Some of the ones I noticed are: Converted whale factory, pyreous ammo ship etc. Also where to find ship dimension data for enemy submarines?

Ok.. here a small manual how to decrease traffic in SH3:

1. Make a backup of all campaign files to some other destination

2. Execute the Mission Editor and open the file Campaign_RND.mis in /data/Campaigns/Campaign/

3. Have a look at the group tree marked in this picture: (of course each random campaign file has different group names)

4. Take your chosen group and right mouse button, then open "Group Properties"

Yes you install another jsgme in sh3 commander folder. That will create another MODS folder in sh3 commander folder too. Place "WAC_5.0_CommanderMod" in this MODS folder. Finaly with this new jsgme activate "WAC_5.0_CommanderMod" mod.

Hi, I tested your WAC campaign and I liked what I saw.
Sadly I can't stand the uber long loading times and it's random CTD, so now I have started making my own compilation of mods.

So far so good, haven't CTD in 3 days.

But I am wondering if you could list the mods used? I especially liked the explosion / fire and damage you used.

Not necessary to start in 39. Start any date you want.
Yes it’s compatible with 5.2.
Just make sure to start same flotilla you’ve chosen in Commander than in WAC career screen :yep:

Just out of my experience to help random crashes:

1. Loading from "Before mission" saves usually leads to crash. I only load from in-patrol saves or "After mission" saves

2. My HD goes into sleep after a few minutes of inactivity. I always moves my mouse from time to time to keep it from going into sleep. I found that helps out a lot.

3. When you quit in the middle of a patrol using "save and exit patrol". That save is often corrupted somehow. So for every patrol, I always have 3 normal saves and one called "dump" that I do "save and exit" on. So next time I reload my patrol, I always load the one above "dump"

My load usually takes about 6-7 minutes (the red progressive bar). If there is a crash during loading, it would always be between 70% and 75%. If it passes the 75% mark, I know that I would definitely get a good load. So around 70% I would move mouse around more actively to prevent HD going into sleep or idle mode.

The Evarts and Somers Classes aren´t using either their hydrophone or their ASDIC.
You could reproduce this by going into the editor, placing the ship and a submerged sub a few hundred meters in front of it.
You could go ahead flank without being noticed. After I went to the surface to be spotted and submerged when they fired on me the ship is dropping DCs on the exakt position and in very shallow depth where I submerged and is still not using hydrophone or ASDIC.
I tested this in every year of the war with only WAC 5.0 and the Patch to 5.2 activated...

And the Fletcher class is converted to the DCRack_SH4, but has the node positioning from the DCRack which leads to wrong positioning...

I seem to have a wierd problem with my install. For some reason my patrols keep getting cut short because i somehow collide with nothing and sink. There was no contacts anywhere in my vicinity when it happened (No ships, and Britain hadnt yet declared war on Germany so aircraft arent a problem. There was no land nearby either that was intersecting with my route) but yet i died unless my watchmen are THAT incompetent and didnt sight a ship about to collide right into us and drop us out of time compression.

I was just on my way to my patrol route, i had just passed by a neutral ship and submarine heading the opposite direction (they were 10km east of my position, heading southeast while i was heading northwest) and they had completely exited my watchmen's sight range. I start using time compression again and then...sunk somehow, due to a collision.

Combine that with the 5-8 minute loading times and you can probably understand why it can be frustrating...

When the mod does work, its quite great though. Dont get me wrong :P

Did not it happen to you too, to find that despite a good calculation of your AOB, the torpedoes did not reach their target?

To check for errors, download the "ALLIES-02" mission (to be placed in "\ data \ SingleMissions \ English")
The 10 tankers will go to exactly 2,000 m at the bearing 315 (the AOB angle must be 45 °)

By moving the ring of the disk RAOBF on 20 (20 hectometres) and on 45 (AOB) one finds the good values

@york, Was your sudden death cause by under water mines? Just my guess. One time I was fooling around near English channel and suddenly died without warning. Later I reload and went back and saw there were mines there.

@ybar, I agree with you the info in recognition manual has a lot of fubar. I even started to collect my own data. Most errors are in those ships that added by mods. I find the info for those ships in the original vanilla game are mostly correct.

For some reason, I can only do 6-7 patrols then the game automatically ends. (my campaign cannot proceed any more). Even with SH commander, the campaign still ends. I am using default grand campaign btw.

I missed your statement of "grand" with "campaign". I am not familiar with that. Also, I am not playing WAC often enough to know if tonnage does matter, that was just a guess. I always assumed it did. I am usually "dead" anyway before mid 1942 comes anyway, :roll: and haven't made it past mid 1940 several times... :har: I'm just too impatient - Maybe someone else can answer your question then. Sorry. :salute:

Definitely the best mod to me at least. Wonderful attention to detail and the gameplay is awesome. Loading times are reaaally long though, around 10 minutes for me. Ports tend to lag a lot but runs butter smooth when sinking merchants in the Atlantic :Kaleun_Salute: I used to only play GWX with lots of additional mods but this mod is more or less plug n play and seems more stable.

Same is true with Ace's "Men on Deck" mod. They face the right (correct) way when coming into the harbor, but not when setting sail. Apparently you can't have it both ways.

PS: The Crew on Deck in WAC looks more like the photos I've seen rather than Ace's that has the whole crew on deck. No doubt inspired by the scene in Das Boat when the Captain inspects the whole crew while the boat is stationary in the bunker.

You can start the black sea campaign in 10/1942 without commander!
This campaign historicaly starts in 1942 and there are almost no units before, ok... some but not all historic traffic and no complete harbours.
So.. you will not have any fun to drive in an almost empty black sea my friend :Kaleun_Wink:

Did you try to enable only:

Should work as intended in 1942 without commander.
The other mods you have enabled are no official mods for WAC from myself.

Did you empty your Save folder after de-activating GWX and activating WAC? If you did not clear C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH3, then you are playing a mix of GWX and WAC. :salute:

Only Complete Sound for WAC5 won't load via JSGME.
Perhaps PC not powerful enough ?


I only missed a greater Message traffic concerning intelligence or special mission within the patrol. But I'm only at begin of 1940 in the carreer I play (4th patrol).



I got CTD each time I try to reload the last saved patrol ?
So for instance when I started a patrol I managed to finish it in Basis.


3 questions :

- Will be there the Panama canal for future ?
- What are planned improvements or new features for future too ?

- Does SHGen works well with WAC 5.2 ? I made tries but cannot see if changes really occured. Need a good tuto.

I would really like to try the mod but my computer is too old to support it. Can I somehow extract the campaign of WAC (with the historical events and radio messages) and add it as a mod to my LSH3? Does anyone know if this is possible and by which files? Many thanks.

You need to extract the Campaign folder that contains the campaign and radiogram files. Then test it using the SH Validator. You will see in the log file, which units you need to add to the folders of Air, Land, Sea, Submarine with the obligatory addition of them to the Roster. It's long, but it's possible!

Folks, i have a problem with Black Sea campaign. First problem is, that on my standard settings on which all other SH3 campaigns work (WAC 5.2 Mediterranean inclusive) the in-game menu is very small, like the resolution is different. Then when i start to load the first mission on 1st october 1942 the "Black Sea campaign" picture is suddenly ok. But after that, the game stops at "Ran an den Feind" screen and its over.

Interesting is that the Mediterranean campaign works without problems on same setting and mods combination.

During play I noticed that there is no renown for sinking ennemy sub (not counted as warship ?).


For Pennants in WAC 5.2 : is it Ctrl+PageUp (using azerty) within 500m of basis when in harbour itself or near mark when selecting "begin patrol at see" ?

For now there is no scheduled update planned...
Maybe I will start to work on some things in autumn.

-Operation Monsun is a good idea... but a new campaign needs much work and testing. On the Black Sea campaign I worked over a whole year.
In the german DMP forum they are working for months in improving LSH Operation Monsun. With all these flotilla changes, campaign changes and probably radio traffic changes this is a lot.
So... very unlikely!

-Stiebler Patch will be possible I think

-Panama Suez channel should be possible but is it worth the work?
Only terrain changes or additionaly locks and harbours?

-new merchants and war ships could be possible (most important I think)

Other additional mods only extend the RAM usage and would make SH3 unstable.

Hansolo released only the 1366x768 version of it so everyone who can't run this version now has one more option that may work at his end.

I uploaded (at my mediafire page) both versions updated to work with the WAC v5.2

Each version is "Stand alone" which means that you pick up the version that suits you and unpack it into your mods folder

I can only expres wishes though I'm not a modder and no nothing about how to modify SH3.

I only know what amount of work it could costs to change features (I know it could be very long and/ or complicated).


And yes, go for Stiebler patch and additional ships if you feel to. And some environemental features more if possible.



I still wish to see Suez and Panama on the map (kinf of "light" harbour perhaps depends if the work is valuable).


And as you say all depends of what SH3 can support more now.
My installation with SH3Gen allows me a 5 to 6 mn load time when all is working fine. Sometimes CTDs then I have to reload 2 or more times before it works (no more than 10 mn via SHCommander in all in best case).

I don't use the Full-Interior which is a really great feature, for the campaign as I know it makes my computer more unstable (former unlucky experiences with GWX and advice from WAC manual).


If you have the time please do it but without any pressure from me. The fun must remain.



And big thanks to you and your crew for all the achieved work to this, for me, most enjoying megamod.

Made it back to Kiel in Sept. /39, sailed my boat right into the bunker with my crew standing-to smartly on the deck only to find that my career was over (Lost at sea, and save file marked Dead). Would this have anything to do with my having sunk a hospital ship :oops: (Could have sworn it tas a troop transport)?

I think no : playing with GWX contact sunked an hospital ship - marked red as ennemy - in patrol 4 in October 1939: nothing happens to me (not a single remark from BDU).

It happened to me too to be dead after a very succesful patrol with start at sea when coming back to Wilhelmhaven and choosing to finish patrol with return to basis within 20 km ? I started patrol again.
Since I try not to forget to make some saves when at sea.

In patrol 10 in beginning June 1940 each time i tried to catch small convoys in the Channel BF32-33 from France to Southhampton I got CTD (tried almost 10 times in different ways) after that I chose to go far away and navigate towards the Atlantic ?

I put this on the account of "strange PC behaviour" for I have untill now no explication.:k_confused:

Thanks, for the reply. In this case my hospital ship was given a grey sunken-ship marker, so the game knew it was not an enemy, though BDU didn't complain about my attack either.

Maybe it's modeled into this Mod, things have moved on a lot since GWX. I'll try an earlier save and see if the results are the same. Much as I hate losing a career for any reason, in this case it'd be justified. I just don't want to get involved in a campaign if SH3 remains prone to random career loss.

- If the ship belongs to an enemy nation (marked as a red icon on your navigation map), the game won't penalize you (even if it is a hospital ship)

- if the ship belongs to a neutral country (green icon on your map), have a look to the coefficient in the file named "Basic.cfg" in the folder Cfg and check the lines under RENOWN.

This coeff multiplied by the renown points which are specific for each ship (see in whatever ship.cfg file) gives you the renown points for sinking this ship.

Ahoi,

Only to make a report of my campaign.
I'm now beginning patrol 12 in September 1940. The ennemy is becoming little by little to be more and more tougher. Slowly but surely.
The mines on Great Britain's East coast are becoming now a real pain.:o

Everything seem to work fine.

Besides some CTDs when approaching Great Britain coasts especially in AN - AM and along the Channel : think RAM of PC in not sufficient when near much sea and air traffic.

The TC is a tricky feature too when near these areas and other busy harbours : for my part no more than 64x when possible.When returning to Wilhelmshaven basis I end patrol at sea whitin 50 km with TC 1x.
Will see later if when I disabled FULL MAP for Optimized WAC5.2 WideScreensGUI 1920x1080 Ahnenerbe via JSGME the lesser use of RAM will make game for me more stable.

One remark : using Optimized WAC5.2 WideScreensGUI 1920x1080 Ahnenerbe with FullMap seems to squeeze a little the M2 map for mines in F5 map screen, in my opinion.

WEll in my opinion its not really realistic. In real life one of the u uboat captains accidently sank a german raider and he had no penaltys.

I'm not sure about this... What is a "wrong" ship to sink ?? The ships' types are only (Roster folder, English.cfg):

Type105=Environmental

I don't see any hospital ship. I think that you sunk a neutral ship, and this is penalized in WAC5. What is the coeff for sinking neutral vessels? Is it -1 for example?

Personaly, I set the coef like that:
Neutral:1
Allied:1
Axis:-1

This is because it was allowed to sink neutral ships in many cases, for example if they were sailing into an allied convoy, if they refused to stop to be inspected, or if they were carrying military cargo. There is a mod (I think made by Sublynx IIRC) which adds draggable sheets with the rules for sinking enemy ships.

Because of ram limit, you can't play full interior + widescreen. It is written in wac5's installation manual.

Playing via SHCommander with realistic career disabled and start mission at sea + Detection GWX for WAC5 mod.

Did Patrol 15 with new IXC in March-April 1941. Attacked convoy coming from USA in AL grid. There were neutral ships (marked green). Not targeting neutral and launched my 4 bow torpedoes . Can't see resullts because 5 escorts ships rapidly discovered me and makes me crash dive + silent running at 200m. 45 mn dephtcharging. Escape. Sank 3 ships confirmed by log : on the map one marked red, one grey and the last one not marked - I think because I was to deep and / or too far from sinking place. After 1 week returning back to Wilhelmshaven : dead within 20km of basis with finishing patrol at base with no explication. Reload several times, tried at the end to finish same way much nearer to base. Not dead but degradated from Kaleu to ObLt with an approximatevely -4500 in renown for patrol. No explication too from game (BDU). Nevertheless stange game behaviour.
In conclusion I think I must have sink a neutral but it was really hard paid.
Did the patrol again as I really was not agree with this outcome.:Kaleun_Mad:
Attacking convoys with neutral ships and trying to solve multiple targets especially the more valuables - awlays in the middle of convoys - can have the most worst consequences.

I only miss the lack of information from the game when such things happened.

Patrol logs from game or SHCommander don't mentioned the nationality of ships too.

I was wondering myself if following could be added to WAC :

- dephtcharge shake like NvDrifter did.
- adding new harbours based on Thfeu58's work.
- Blue Interior light like FlakMonkey's : we have yellow for day, red for night.
Blue could be for silent running besides it was historically not the case.

I tried to use these with no great success with GWX before, only dephtcharge shake was satisfying.

Trying more than 10 times to finish patrol 15 with at the end only to be dead !
Flotilla 2 Wilhelmshaven ordered each time to patrol grid BF 29 as primary (tried between March-April 1941 with brand new IXC and then back to my old VIIB). Then ordered to attack Loch Ewe (rather suicidal : one try) and when trying to catch convoys in AL always CTDs or bad weather : 15 (no chance). :Kaleun_Crying:
Then BDU order : cross Strait of Gibraltar (2 times if you will go back) and patrol grid CO (especially 25-26 when Greece evacuated) : did it in last play but return where (did one time Thalia : CTD) only with 25% fuel ?
And no ship activity in Mediterranean : i'm playing Baltic-Atantic campaign. Nonsense .:hmph:

What's the purpose ? Why is BDU sending me to hell ? :damn:

Each time when succeeding ending patrol near base witn no more torpedoes and not following BDU orders : dead or degradated with -5000 in renown.:/\\x:

Is it a way to say me I've done enough ?
No retirement with honour and promotion ?

When yes, BDU is really not grateful.

This will be my first tiny modding attempt in SH3.

As I try now BDU to be send packing, I will wait first Flotilla 2 be transferred to Lorient basis and will at least be lost at sea as Kapitän z.See.:D
Redo again patrol 15 and will reload it when ending it till I docked alive and be able to start patrol 16.

And I agree with you about career length features.
I did other small changes to see if it works (only in .cfg and .menu files).
I took a long time in searchs in older posts of Subsim Radio Forum to see some specific subjects.

I understand now much more, I hope, what happened to me in last patrols.

And if changing U-Boot and / or appliyng some upgrades, this coasts renown points too : seems that when just above a rank in renown you will lose points and go back to previous rank when changes applied after ending next patrol.
I will try next time to leave game after these changes + roll-back and quit SH3Cdr and relaunch the all for next patrol. Will see what happens.:06:

Did a detour to Helgoland in my last patrol (an island I often visited before in real life : part of my familly is from Bremen and as I was a kid I often made Butterfahrten mid70s-80s when Europe was not a single customs area as today).

But near to it I was deeply shocked. :eek:

I made my 16th patrol Mai-June 1941 and finally have been ordered to transfer to Lorient while at sea when less than 10% fuel and 8 torpedoes remaining.

Patrol not successful only sink a carrier Indifatigable + damaging Renown and 3 ships (1 was a wreck) and could only follow by radio the sinking of Bismarck : too far for helping.

:) And I saw the nice U-Boot bunkers of Lorient.
Wilhelmshaven was becoming a little too hot : nice welcoming home by Halifax group bombing you when nearing basis and thinking you are safe now, especially at end of patrol 15 in the night + weather 12.
Same when leaving basis for Patrol 16 this time at day and 2 bomber wawes. :gulp:
I docked and was again dead as for patrol 15 but I cheat. :oops:

The only information when a career is ended is given by SH3Cdr in the Personal File Update at the end of it.
And SH3Cdr gives you the choice too to surrender instead to be lost at sea in main screen + info Personal File.

Kaleuns, who plays the Black Sea Campaign, what files should I change to be able to choose in the 30th flotilla U-boot type IIA?
Tried some things and there was zero useful help in the Forum. Never managed to get the WAC Black Sea Campaign to work and have since given up trying.

I think I found part of the problem.
I found these two files:

Well.. a long long time has passed since Helgoland was made by TigerKatziTatzi in 2006 if I remember correct.
He made Helgoland as good as he could because there are several SH3 limitations in changing terrain.
I myself also used the terrain editor a long time ago.
So... the question is if the nescessary changes could be made with the SH3 terrain limitations.

Try to use WAC5.1 basic.cfg for black sea SH3 commander start.
I reduced the black sea campaign basic.cfg a lot to have only type IIA available.

This happened to me now too at the end of Patrol 18 : attacked convoy - all marked red - and intentionally targeted Carham Hospital Ship with British flag; result -5000 in renown. :arrgh!:

I think the thing to do is to change the value as ArnoldR explained in the Basic.cfg file - in Cfg subfolder of Game Data folder.

Set values now to and will see next :

OK when Terrain limitations then no use to do it in anyway.
They are for sure other features that are better for game improvement as you said.
