Hitman, Frinik, LC and DB

Art is a very interesting subject and I love it. Although it seems impossible
for me to call some of this abstract stuff anything but what it really is - dung.:yep:
However there is one thing that seems to bring things for us PanzerKameraden down to earth and that is most of the Artists that are praised today are also known for their debauchery and sexual immorality ie: Van Goge, Picasso and in modern times that pack in the New York crowd that (to me) seems to be at war with all Christian Civilization. As Lenin said "everything is political" and to the Old Marxist as well as the New Marxist are trying their hardest to make Lenin's statement true. :hmmm:

Thanks you guys for your compliments. To answer LC's question about fps.
The fps issue is being chipped away at and I am committed to doing the best I can at making the missions playable while learning to optimize as we go.
And Kamerad frinik, you will love this new Kursk mission man! :DL

Good riddance DB hope it all works out for you but I won't hold my breath :rotfl2:

Mit herzlichem Gruß:salute:

True enough Zee; Picasso in particular was a serial womaniser and a Communist to boot.Van Gogh may have suffered from mental illness, while others were " des artistes maudits " ( a loose translation would be damned or doomed artists) who used and abused absinth and opium and often died young and paupers. That being said, I separate their art from their personalities and admire it for the sake of the beauty their often twisted minds allowed them to create.

Thank you for the new Kursk dawn mission Herrn Zee. Looking forward to it.:yeah:

Yes, you make an excellent point frinik, separating their art from their personalities, politics and religion etc. is the fair thing to do and I kinda came down hard on the abstract stuff too. Although I really didn't want
to make a personal attack, my emphasis was on those who black list the
artists (who are as talented and even more so) because of politics. That's
all.

These are really great news. Was a lot of work i think. Not very much easy but i am glad to see big improvments. Not "only" fps the whole game is making a huge step forward.

Cant wait to see those new Tigers and other tanks. I am curious how fps will now behave. Some more news on new Kursk mission?

Thanks a lot

Hi frinik,

running? no no its only stumbling:shifty:. It will take time but i have thrown away my weapon for dogfights. No crutches, so i can sit down in my commanders seat and take my tank into battle.

I am not a big fan of soccer but the wc i will watch!

Lc it´s football not soccer! Only Americans-Canadians and Australians insist on calling it that S ......word. The World(that is 5.5 billion people) knows that it´s the only ball sport played with the FEET unlike so -called American or Australian rule football which in fact are played with the HANDS and are just local versions of English rugby( which I like, a real tough sport).Anyway enjoy it!

I am happy you´re on the mend!:yeah:

As for me I am feverishly awaiting my new pc recovery disk next week so I can get it up and running and instal TvsT with ZeeWolf´s latest mods and releases and even test-try the Heavy Kursk mission, as well as Steel Fury and some other sims.I´ve had a glimpse of the potential of my new pc and it´s very encouraging.I copied a version of my main Steel Fury game( unable to instal the original game as long as the system is not properly configured) and played my heavy user-made missions with fps twice or thrice as much as I get on my laptop. The 24" screen and the vivid colours are fantastic.I tried the same with TvsT but no go the pc refuses to accept it.Next week once it´s configured then it will be launch time!

What have you been up to recently? We did not hear much from you Comrade?

Hey LC !
Good to hear your back in the ranks Kamerad
Your knee will squeak for a while longer until you get all the rust out. So go
easy. On the new Kursk mission 2 I decided to break it into two missions.
The first Day2 mission will be called "The Gantlet" because of the length of
the valley that is lined with AT-Guns. And the second part of Day2 will be
call "Taking Dubrova". Both will work seamlessly together. The first one starts very early in the morning and ends at the end of the valley just prior to it's
turn northward. And then you start where the first one ended after being re-
supplied minus 4 Tigers that could not be repaired. About an hour has past
as far as the sky and sun light is concerned, it's still morning but a little brighter, just perfect for fierce action. :D

And BTW LC I finally fixed the flying Tiger issue as well as the ant hill too.
And one more thing - No more Tigers driving around with destroyed tracks.

Wow frinik I didn't know your new PC was still not up and running!
Sure hope you get that resolved Asap. As for FPS, 8-10 when you
start out from Village C. Then after the first kill-zone then they go
up to 11-15+. So the FPS will be more than enough needed to play.
But of course not up to a level we all want - yet.

Zee (and the rest!)
Fantastic visuals for a dawn pre battle scenario; Zee you are indeed the master of disaster.:woot:
You will of course know I have been drafted to the labour battalion and my art consists of painting many walls whilst avoiding the "paintbrush retrofit". It's art Jim - but not as we know it.
Some people enjoy house painting but I'd as soon stick pins in my eyes.

Good to hear Lc will now be able to get some welly (boot to you Lc :haha:!!!) into that tricky accelerator in the Tiger soon, coupled with his excellent night vision - Ivan - be afraid.

Very much looking forward to the next Kursk updates especially if the FPS can be enhanced there's some involved stuff going on. Interested to hear what your performance is like Frinic when you can get your new PC up and running must be frustrating to say the least. I get hammered at night BTW due to my poor night vision :wah: I have to cheat and act as commander letting the gunner do the hard work (well spotting some of the difficult targets that is).

Hi Morty!

I wasn't aware that you had been forcibly drafted by the Todt Organisation?Excellent! Next there are about 2 dozen Tigersin our Zug awaiting fresh coats of paint and of course I am sure we can find work for you applying camo paint on our AT gun emplacements.Actually, I am co9ntemplating having the whole surrounding forest repainted in Tiger camo colour just to confuse the Bolschevicks when they attack us; T34 versus 34 Trees....

Yes I am definitely looking forward to having my new machine up and running. I bought it 7 weeks ago and thanks to Acer's incompetence and poor client service I am still waiting to get a shot (pun intended) at using it...Based on my experience running tentatively a copy of my main SF game on it I expect to get at least twice to 2 1/2 the fps I was getting on my Toshiba laptop.Which means I can play the stock game at 40 to 50 fps and ZeeWolf's missions at anywhere between 10 to 30 fps all set at maximum resolution 1920 x 1080.

Welcome back Morty and tell your Tank Commander to give you a couple of days of furlough so you play a little bit!Tell her a secret; Slavery has been officially abolished since 1830....:arrgh!:

I sense a lot of itchy trigger fingers out there!!!

I can paint your tanks for you but only Dulux Weathershield Sandstone colour external and Barley white interior this might not be the best camo choice. My Todt Organisation stores depot only has this in stock. :haha: Very restful though! I'm working harder now than when I was fully employed; although I confess to previously being a malingerer. Only 9 years house maintenance to catch up on. Sorry I'm right off topic here just saying why I'm low profile at present. :wah:

I'm building up to a reward when I've finished (if - that is) and maybe treat myself to a new monitor and graphics card (we'll see).

Frinic hope you get sorted soon, my recovery discs were 4xDVDs!! Win7 although excellent so far, carries some bloat. There is also no natural e-mail client (Outlook) btw, (at least on my home premium version) unless you unlock the Win7 integral MS office application by purchasing the code as an additional app. Pity as I had both the ISP & Outlook set up on WinXP previously.
Please let us know your FPS score when you are able, I am really impressed with this notebook i5 processor and I thought my desk PC E8500 was pretty good!! now beginning to wonder??

I had to log in again to see those screen shots Zee posted - lovely:yeah:

Nice try Morty! However since ZeeWolf is planning new missions that will take place in the winter and perhaps autumn the sandstone and barley white interior colours will come in handy as we need to upgrade our Tigers camo.

The recovery has been done( needed 2 tries though).Installed the graphic drivers but the sound is not working. This needs to be fixed. Otherwise pc is working fine. But I ma not overly impressed by Nvidia GT330 .While the fps are not bad I don't find the quality of the graphics to be overwhelming.I like the quality of the image better on my ATI 3850.

Cheers to All!

Zee, I instaled the basic pack you sent me over a new install of TvsT and after a reboot instaled the mission 6, when I start the sim I have a new menu option "Project Zeewolf", but inside there´s only one link that just reads "Text" and if I click on that I get to the mission choose menu but the only "mission" in there is the "Text" word that loads nothing.

When I get home from work will try to send you screen shots of what I just tried to explain.

Looking forward to the next update ZW!!:)

Great eddie,
I just finished the final test on the new Kursk Mission 2.
And I plan on having it along with some other important
fixes, like the swamp effect is now history. The
flying Tigers are now history too. :woot::woot:
Included will be new trees for a better looking forest.
I have decided to dedicate July to new vehicle models
that will be in Kursk Mission 3. Although I did take some
time off at the beginning of June, I am now back in full
production mode. Which means the July update will be
substantial. So, things are looking good for Project
ZeeWolf.

June has been the month I took a couple weeks off. But I was still productive, as
a matter of fact I am very delighted to report the swamp effect is now history as
well as the flying Tigers and the tank ant hill that occurs at the end of the
waypoint path. On top of that- the range accuracy for the Tiger and T34's main
Gun has been re-calibrated. The HUD graphics on the Tiger has some new and
improved features too. For instance the brake indicator is more of an aid that
informs you in a very clear manner when the brake is engaged with a clear -
"Brake On" message. And of course I have to mention the improvements in the
forest, with new trees and the ability now to add more plants and trees in which
I am very excited about. Also a small utility that will add to the registry the
new ZITADELLE Campaign to the T34 vs Tiger Reg Key. This will enable the missions
in all campaigns to be viewed in the menu. It's called "Zitadelle_.reg". All you
do is double mouse click on it one time, that's it!. The location is:

<drive>\Lighthouse Interactive\T34vsTiger\Zitadelle_.reg

This is the best way I could come up with that will add what is needed.

Nonetheless, the main thing for you guys is Kursk Mission 2. It starts out very early
in the morning with a new Sky. Your task is simple: Reach the end of the valley alive.
And hold the area until following forces arrive in Kursk Mission 3. You will have
the experience of surviving a few Red Army Artillery Killzones - which is unreal
man. But fear not the SS 13th Heavy Panzer Company will be at it's best.

first of all i want to emphasies the great work ZW is doing. I said it many times and will repeat it ,we can count on him every time. THANK YOU ZW!! I appreciate this. Thanks for your enthusiasm.:yeah:

For the first ten minutes of the new mission i am speaking for myself. It s no critisizm i want to show you my way of thinking.:shifty:

Maybe that i am too old for that game or i had taken in February a really serious hit i dont know but for me its too dark. Is it especially possible for me to make the first mission two hours later? Maybe 06:30 hour. So i can see those enemies and your great work on the envirionment.:nope:

I know its not accurate but i was only driving, touching around and didnt see anything. I was hit here and there but didnt see those enemies but i really like to kill those tanks. Please dont see it as critisizm. I know its fantastic but i will see what is hapening. Maybe SOME FLARES would be nice if not possible to make the missions " in a brighter daytime.:wah:
I have hit something in the dark and then i realised it was a KO KV 1. Itwas smoking!!!

For the good side i must say the mission runs very well, the lowest fps was around 5 or 6. Raelly great improvement:up:. No stumbling like me:haha:.

Later i will have more time and will test it until the end so i can see all improvments.

Kursk Misson 3 will be at 6:30 am for the attack on Dubrova.

But the best thing to remember is that tank 1302 is a Gruppenführer (Group Leader) and you
should try staying just ahead of the other Tigers to see the enemy better.

I create these missions with the ability for you to follow or take charge of

i appreciate this step you doingfor me! Great! I really enjoyed the whole Kursk and the single player missions you made until now. I forgot to say that seeing " Break ON " was a really good idea!

I see those huge improvements and this game will be better and better with any new mission and campaign you create for us ZW!:yeah:

Cant wait too see your new improvements and to test the new campaign missions.

Pardon my jumping here but, I have just started playing T-34 vs Tiger and I have some questions/comment I would be thankful for any help.

1. I bought the game and right off the key code didn't work. I had to find a bootleg key code on the net to use my purchased copy. Is there a fix?

2. Is there a patch and if so where is it? I've seen reference to it but can't find it. The reason I ask is the last mission for the Tiger keeps freezing on me. I don't mind restarting over and over because I love the game but I'd like to finnish it someday.

3. Is there user created missions I can download to expand playability and if so where?

4. Am I right in my opinion the the 88mm in the Tiger is under powered as at close ranges is won't take out a T-34 unless you hit it in certain spots?

Thanks for your time and help guys

Welcome aboard maxok!
The key code issue is a known problem, allot of guys had to complain to the
place of purchase and they would send them a new copy. However the issues you describe with crashes have been address by me in Project ZeeWolf. It would be wise to surf the threads here for more details. And as
you said you love T34 vs Tiger I can definitely relate to that man.

It would be a help to tell us more details about your system too.

I love sims when I have time to play them. I was disappointed to spend months fighting in Silent Hunter 3 from Sep 39 to get my Type XXI boat to find it was defective.... but I digress.

My system is :
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) (build 7600)
Dell Inc. Studio XPS 8100
2.80 gigahertz Intel Core i7 860
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
8152 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series [Display adapter]
ATI High Definition Audio Device

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard Maxok! This is by far the best and most dynamic sim forum...:D

One question I recently bought a pc ( an Acer)with pretty much the same specs as you have; a 2.8 ghtz processor intel i7 860, 8 gbs of RAM but my graphic card is(unfortunately as I much prefer ATI cards)) an Nvidia GT330( 2 gbs of dedicated memory).I also have Windows 7 HP edition(x64).

I have been having problems with my pc not booting properly, erasing my graphic card drivers , Windows explorer just stopped working etc.I did 5 recoveries in 2 weeks and finally solved partly( my graphic drivers don't disappear every time I turn my pc on) my problem by installing 51 microsoft updates. However, I still have my pc unable to start windows and doing repairs before rebooting and finally starting properly. My suspicion is that Windows & bugs are to blame for the problem,.Did you experience similar bugs or problems like those above after installing Win 7????

Frinic So sorry to hear about your continuing problems. It always sounds like "Piss on the Fire George my toast is brown"!! sort of "reassurance" Win7 is OK from others and I am the same, but I do sympathise, I think you are very unlucky. :damn:
It sounds like an OS problem what with your drivers not being recognised correctly (it reminds me of a problem I had years ago when my memory wasn't latched in correctly). Not that I think it's that BTW but it wouldn't take a second to check it. The only other hardware fault I can think of giving you problems like this is a duff Hard Disk - however seems unlikely from brand new!!

If you remember I had an OS problem which was an antivirus conflict. My notebook came with an AV preinstalled and instead of uninstalling it straight away I immediately installed the free version of AVG AV. Immediately the machine died and I had to reinstall everything!!:wah:
Then I uninstalled the preinstalled AV and all was well.
I wonder also if you have a corrupted install - worse comes to worst you could try and get the company you bought it from to supply a new version of Win7 as they are not over expensive (for Win7 Home).
I think failing all that send it back as life's too short to suffer!!
I sure hope you get some progress and crack this problem mate!

All the best - Morty (keep us updated mate) :salute:

PS I can always send Mrs Panzer Commander round to torture a confession out of it!! she always manages to with me!!!!

Hi Morty good to hear you again! Herr Panzer Commander or is it Painter Commander?????:D

My hard disc is fine and not corrupted and my problems seem to be , knock on wood, resolved. My problem was basically that Acer sent the pc to the retailer with an Admin password that could not be broken. The reTailer said that it was Acer 's presponsibility since they delivered the pc like that( seems to me that retailer should check their products before selling them to make sure they are fucntioning...But hey it's the new reality of customer's service.).Acer could not help me with password except to send the recovery cds to clear the pc. I waited almost 7 weeks for them to arrive. And then hit Win 7 .Had the pc been pre configured and ready to use as ti should have been I would have saved myself lots of trouble. But it's live and learn!!!! I've got Steel Fury installed and running well ( one copy and one fresh install) and I tested TvsT after installing DirectX9 and it runs well with fps double what I have on my Toshiba laptop.Once I am 100% satisfied my pc is stable and trouble-free then I'll install TvsT.I must say though that I am not impressed by my 2gbs Nvidia GT330 graphic card.I expected better from such a high end gc.ATI , in my own and disputable opinion, makes better gcs price and performance-wise.

Matlox thanks for coming back.Win 7 came with the recovery disk on my pc .No I have no malware or spyware.I ran several scnas and nothing I checked the BIOS and everythiing is healthy and fine. The problem definitely rested with Win 7. Actually doing a maintenance run of my pc I discovered that there were too many programs runnign at start up.I checked them all off the list and now it seems that my pc problems or woes are things of the past. While Windows 7 has been touted as the latest wonder blablabla I read seevral posts on the internet showing the incredible number of people who have been haing nighjtmare problems with Win 7.A lot experimented similar problems to mine endless reboots, or BootMgr going missing, serial recoveries etc.I have found no less than 19 websites dedicated to nerds and techies offering solutions to 22 common problems with Windows 7.Let's not forget that it's new system, not even a year old, and I remember that past systems whether Vista or even XPs did not come without their share of teething problems and bugs.

Hello Frinic excellent news from you at last. :woot:Such a minor act resulting in major pain eh!!
You are right about the new Win7 OS, they are all great until they go kaput, even XP had its little foibles.
So far, from my POV Windows 7 seems very stable and (fairly) easy to manipulate. I too favour ATI GPUs at present but I'm running a NVidea 9800GTX+ with no problems except I could wish for better frame rates in TvsT. I know a better (ATI??) card would lift the performance by; I believe some 15-20%, depending on the model. I only have to move the outside TvsT view to overhead, or F5 commander binocular view and I get an increase in the region of - say from 8FPS to 12 FPS for example.
To be fair you can have up to 2Gb of onboard card memory but if your bandwidth is retricted - like they are on the midrange versions or the memory 2Gb of GDDR3 instead of say 1Gb or less of GDDR5 I guess you know the GDDR3 ain't gonna have as much "Welly" or impact.
Yet another thing to save up for eh!!
Never mind if you have doubled your FPS you are going in the right direction mate. You might get a driver update that may lift it a bit also.

Now I digress - I've got a new sky to install and more Tiger Crew to get shot up!! :D
Still on fatigues painting the Morty estate though - hope the weather holds here.:sunny:

Mission 2 (Kursk) all running nice. Too busy avoiding shells to admire any new trees. The early Russian barrage seemed to be better than ever, :yeah: the effects in the Half Light are better IMO than full daylight.
I actually survived!!! I wasn't a lead tank though, I bravely cruised in the middle of the pack. I tried some long range gunnery but I find that shooting and moving makes "zeroing in" on targets difficullt. Saw 2 Tigers hit and burn in front of me and it makes you aware that if you get clobbered you're a gonner!! My Tiger seems to drive like a - well very heavy tank!! It tracks slightly sideways (i.e. slight drift) sometimes, but I put this down to the the lie of the terrain and it looks and "feels" (as much as you can "feel") Right on. I only comment because in these Kursk missions I am going as fast as possible at the start, unlike the earlier "tamer" missions (Nos 1-6) when you seemed to have more time to position for attack.
All in all - NICE Splendid Job Zee :salute:

Mentioned in case someone thinks its a bug for not showing up on the mission list immediately.

Thanks Morty for reminding me of that, about the unlocking. There is a work around that, by adding to the registry the new ZITADELLE Campaign to the T34 vs Tiger Reg Key. This will enable the missions in all campaigns to be viewed in the menu. It's called "Zitadelle_.reg".
All you do is double mouse click on it one time, that's it!. The location is:

<drive>\Lighthouse Interactive\T34vsTiger\Zitadelle_.reg

This is the best way I could come up with that will add what is needed
to the registry without going in the registry or creating a exe file.

Way to go Morty!:salute:

Played several times and best up with lead tanks but still find targetting difficult, partly because of shoot and move technique (auto gunner awsome he must have 20/100 vision !! :haha:) and partly because of low light conditions that Lc mentioned.
I personally liked the low light conditions as it was a change and quite atmospheric but wouldn't like to "fight" under these conditions every time so thanks for the variety you promised Zee.

The next Kursk mission will take up at the place #2 left off. After being
resupplied and the following forces have taken their position the sun will
be over the horizon and at our back for the assault on Dubrova. But be
warned the Soviets have had all night to bring in reinforcements to fortify
the village of Dubrova. All so note; this will be a "knife fight" so-to-speak
with close combat. :arrgh!:The up side is there will be less long range heavy artillery.:woot:
As for the models: I have been working on several models in parallel over
the last few months. But as of July 1, my have focus is on the Tiger E1 and
the Panther D. Progress has not been as fast as it could be, never the less
the more narrow the focus, the higher the production (I am no multitask-er).;)

Hey

I use "ConText Editor":

http://www.contexteditor.org/downloads/

And I set the *.script files highlighter to C++. This is, I find the most
convenient. Context also has some excellent multi-file search and edit
abilities too.

There is one more program I have that is invaluable and that is "Agent Ransack" :
http://www.mythicsoft.com/page.aspx?type=agentransack&page=home

Agent Ransack is a the perfect search utility. I just put in the file name
line *.script and it searches those only. And it will even search .dll files
if I add to the file name *.dll.
Both are great tools. :yep:

Cheers :salute:

PS: They are both free :DL

Thanks ArmorEtr,
Definitely dust off you TvT copy because I promise you will be glad
you did:) The best way to help me now is get the word out about this total
overhaul of T34 vs Tiger. Focusing on the single player aspect of the sim
for guys like myself who is content with just playing a good sim.
I have convinced myself that this is my calling. And I am totally
dedicated to tell the story of war on the eastern front during WWII
through the medium of this sim.
As for "Are you a one-man-gang or do you represent a small crew?"
my answer is, as a devout Christian I am never alone.

Your offer is one I certainly could enhance TvsT with
There has been allot of new changes and improvements since that image
was snapped and well to mention the stock game of T34 vs Tiger is no where
near the Sim that it is with Project ZeeWolf. You will of course find that out
soon enough :yep: My work has been mostly technical in nature but I do need
help in real tactics that you would know:know: about in detail that could aid in mission and campaign creation.

Thanks again Otto :salute:

Welcome to the forum Ottoramsaig!

It's great to have another former tanker on the forum. We already have our Aussie friend who used to crew a Leopard 1A4. For us tank sim fans but unfortunately without any real practical knowledge of the real thing it's wonderful to have guys like you who can put things in perspective and help us address realism or lack of in the sims we love and play.T34 versus Tiger was originally full of promises when it came out in 2007.WWII fans had basically only Panzer Elite a wonderful but ageing sim and some minor ridiculous firts person shooters of the panzer killer and other duds of the kind.Unfortunately TvsT came out flawed and with very few missions and tailored mainly for multi play.Add that to lack of support and single player sim fans like me turned to Steel Fury , another great sim, which came out soon after. Until ZeeWolfe gave TvsT the Kiss of Life and you can bet your hard earned money on his work because you're not going to be disappointed!Looking forward to hearing tales of your tank running days!

BTW, one question comes to my mind. While the M48 Patton obviously came after WWII how do you think it would have fared on the battlefield (in it's original version not with a 105 mm gun) against either the Tiger II or the Panther).

Anyway we 're a merry group of fellows and we help each other out whenever we can so you can count on our warm welcome and assistance:yeah:

I looked all over for a real good tank sim and T34 vs Tiger is still the best that I've seen so far.

Have Panzer Elite which is very good but poor in graphics.
Panzer Elite Action is more an arcade game.

World of Tanks looks great but it's most likely an Arcade style game.:hmmm:

Still looking..:shifty:

I really don't see why T34 vs. Tiger don't have expansion packs?
All the major work is already done..

I do alot of 3d stuff and would make expansions myself if I knew how?

Well, the Patton was not much different than the Pershing tank that seen service in WW2 as well as the Super Sherman, both had a high profile but good cross country speed reliability and most of all Gun Stabilization,,that to me is a battle winner because you can shoot on the fly much more effectively.
Both had long barreled ,High Velocity guns.

The M4 Sherman was not built for tank on tank warfare, it was mainly an Infantry tank.
The US used M18 and M38 tank destroyers for tank on tank warfare.
If US tank forces were engaged by enemy Armor, when at all possible, seek cover and then call in an air strike or artillery.
For every three platoons of sherman's they usually had one platoon of M18 or M38 tank destroyers and it was five tanks in a platoon at that time.
I believe for the tank destroyers a platoon consisted of only three tanks.

US tank destroyers can go 60mph, so they would scoot out and try for a flank attack while the Sherman's would keep their attention.

Hallo Kameraden!

Good news the new Tiger E1 is now in testing. This is the AI version,
there is still some things I am working out with the suspension. Of
course the work on this model will help with both the Playable Tiger
and the Panther, so I want to get it right. The paint job is the base
color and is not entirely complete. Once the base is complete with
weathering and dirt etc. I will create some camo skins.

T34 vs Tiger supplies all the stuff you need for maya 5. If you study the
mel files that are in T34vsTiger/Tools folder you can start to get an idea
how I figured out the import process. It took me 6-7 months before I made
real progress with my first Tank model (KV-85) to be successfully imported

Hi frinik and thanks,
The Panther Ausf D2 will only be AI however, the Panther Ausf A and Ausf G
will be playable. Although all will be released as AI first. I have yet to model
the new interiors - they will take more time. The new Tiger E1 will be AI and
because of the old copula at least until I can model the new Tiger interior that will work with the first generation copula.
But, I have to tell you the new Panther Ausf D is going to be my absolute
best work to date. You'll see what I am talking about very soon. The major
concern about the Panther has been resolved completely, therefore my effort has been all out so-to-speak.

Hey Morty! :salute:
The rear hatch is for loading! :yep: and the low commander position was implemented in Kursk mission 2.
But I have to tell you I have some regrets with my ATI 4770 card. I was

Hi Priscalan,
Thank you for the compliments. :salute:

If you realize that this type of work must be built on a strong desire.
My moto is and has been very basic "I will do all I can". The vision has been
set and all that is required is only limited by your willingness to work and
learn. The process is really quite basic as well - do what you can and when
your understanding and/or skill is at a stand still that is when you study
in a very methodical step by step approach until you can move forward.
The key is - never give up, you know you can do this stuff. :know:

Hi again,

as you know, life is going up and down, dont want to talk about that but now its more down for me than up.

(And as we had more than 35 celsius degrees the last weeks, you should here the cooler of my AGP card. I dont want that it gets an HEATSHOCK. So, i am very cautios not to kill it.)

BUT seeing ZWs great work, i will see more and more of the horizon.

I do not use and i dont want the crutches back. Its better to "move" around without any help (crutches, and the crutches are NOT pink :woot: they are PURPLE like the PURPLE HEART).

(Anyway i am watching the pacific from HBO. Absolutley fantastic.)

YES THE ANTENNA. Without the antenna i probably would not crawl into any german tank :D. It gives me a kind of feeling to have an Überpanzer.:haha:.

I think there must no be approval only from my side to say that the new tanks are really bombastic. I cant wait for the Panthers too, you know they are one of my favorite tanks (pink Panther, i know).

I really liked it to had a conversation with you again,

Hi Zee Frinic & Lc, no rush for a GPU yet and you've given me food for thought!! thanks for that. My trusty 'old' NVid 9800GTX+ has done me proud to date, just that all signposts are towards the Radeon 5870 HD, if and when it gets cheap enough - keeping all options open though:hmmm:

Well Lc How's old 'hop-along' ?? here's hoping your legs are improving daily. Yes Zee's pretending the hatch is for loading, when I know it's for rabbit shooting out on the steppes!! Looks like you've got an antenna as well, bad news is it will be as useful as my Luger in action!!:haha: Mind you it will be good for whipping things (that sounds kinky so Nuff said!!).
I didn't indulge in WOP I read all the stuff and decided to stick with IL246 and upcoming big Euro map - I really am struggling to fit all this simming in to my life!! (not complaining too much though!!)

Hi Morty, LC and all fellow ZW members.

No Morty my new pc has given me nothing but grief. It turns out that after corrupt boot fils, a loacked password I also have a defective GT330 graphic card.It would cost me more to ship it back to Acer for charnge than to buy a new ones so I am going to bite the bullet and buy myself an ATI Radeon instead of the Taiwanese Nvidia junk Acer provides.

[QUOTE=frinik;1452030]Hello My Dear Lc, it would have been a pleasure talking-chatting with you before but unlike you and Mr Zee I don´t speak a word of Magyar.....:DL

You do not need to talk hungarian, maybe a bit german or a little bit english. I ll try my best to make me understandable. You speak a lot of languages too. From my side i can say that a i had 3 years of french, reading is going well, but talking or writing NO. Its been to long ago.

What´s the fixation about an antenna on atank????Since we cannot use a radio communication system in the sim???No doubt Freud or Jung would see some kind of unresolved youth fantasy in that:smug:

I know that there is no communication, may be flag signs as the russian did:D but what would be a Porsche without its emblem? Not an exact Porsche and ZW looks really on all details. I am couragious how he will mange the interior of the Panther. This is really hard stuff.

The Hungarian were the only allies of Germany who did nto quit or defect to the enemy unlike even the Finns not to mention the Rumanians and Italians.

Thats true but they had to pay 45 years of Communism, but you know that for sure.

Hi Morty,

NO Morty, these days are gone no more hoping, but i have a date with my manipulator, hopefully the last ones.
My antenna will be useful, it will swing or not? This will confuse the enemy maybe getting tierd, so i can capture their tanks.

What do you mean with upcoming big Euro map, never heard about it.

Have a nice Sunday

Hi Frinic, Morty, all fellow ZW members.

Didnt know that you have so much trouble with your PC. That must be really frustrating. I never bought a whole system, a piece here another there and so i built up my pc. Thanks god never had really so grave problems. I am really sorry for you. Thats hard.

Yes i must say i never bought "cheap" parts for my pc but i was heading every time the right way. I used my last pc for nearly 8 years, it was October last year when i pushed it up. My old printer has 10 years and is printing very well. The price was about 230 Euro that time.

I wish you really the best and more luck with PC components, you need it.

Acer of America so-called customer service( outsourced to India with the resulting clueless, unhelpful but polite attendants who can't tell a pc from a toaster...:hmmm:)has bene less then helpful and inflexible as much as they could.ACervice is Acervice we won't give you should be their motto!

Frinic so sorry to hear your troubles mate.:damn:
What a catalogue of horror eh!! I would certainly attempt to get some form of redress. One thing is certain if you don't try you definately won't get.
There's no guarantee in all of this but you just bought the thing and it's not fir for purpose - I'd certainly give it a go. Get on their web site and blog the swines!! It won't do their sales any good if they get bad publicity - but gently (at first). I hate chucking good money away - sure you can salvage much of the PC guts but the bloody thing's new!! It's always a balance between effort expended and results but I'd certainly try - old "Howling Zee" is right, if bought by CC the company bears some responsibility for the product/s purchased (they have insurance cover I believe) so this might be worth exploring.
I sincerely wish you luck and good fortune with it you never know you might get a lucky break.

Lc glad your not hopping!! For your info The IL2 map (i.e. channel map 1:1 scale) is a new map but had problems and is being modded/altered to fix some anomolies; see "new channel map" on SimHQ.com IL2 threads. Updates by 352 Persecutor I believe.
Good luck mates - Morty :salute:

T34 vs Tiger supplies all the stuff you need for maya 5. If you study the

Hey Zee, great to hear you're almost done.
One question though, I have the downloaded version of T34 vs Tiger from gamers gate.
Every time I try to install a mod the game crashes.
I'm using Window 7 home premium 64 bit OS.
It's kind of funny? It has a programs folder and also an (x86 programs folder).
It seems when I try to install a mod that has a self installer, the mod goes into the regular programs folder..while the main program is in the X86 programs folder.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hate to say this, but Gamersgate doesn't sell T34 vs Tiger, either as a download or as a cd. They sell Steel Fury, but not T34 vs Tiger.

I have this sim installed on Win7, in the Programs(x86) section, and have no problems here. I always make sure any installer is pointing to this folder, before I use it. I always manually locate the folder (through the installer) to make sure its going into the correct folders. Works fine every time!

And ZW, make sure you have sufficient LOD's with those new models, they look great BTW!!! I sometimes wonder what level of lod's the original designers used?

Hi eddie,
Thanks for the win7 help. And the game engine uses a maximum of 5 LODs
Which is plenty.
I have yet to complete a tank model with the LOD models and the crashed
models (destroyed models). I know this may be hard to believe but it's true.
The reason is the way I am working out the performance and accurate movement of the vehicles. Once that is complete for this years production
I will have the certainty that the adding the LOD models Crewmembers
and damaged models as well as the fake and volume shadows to the tried and true main models.:yep:
Also I have in mind for next years production a focus on biuldings and structures that are destructible and of various sizes and styles that will
be the foundation of new cities and towns too.

So a lot of work is still ahead eddie,

Hi ZW and others,

I have been reading this topic for a long time with interest.
What you have been able to acheive in a relatively short time is truely incredible.

I'm sorry I haven't read every page of this topic but I assume you have mastered the combat physics of the game?
I am especially interested in how the game models ballistics & armor penetration.

After spending many years studying armored warfare and coming up with more realistic? weapons stats for Panzer Commander (personal use only),
I am interested in how T vs T uses the various values.
Having looked over the script files and put together a modified set of armor/penetration values for the default models, I was very interested in a simple explanation as to how the game uses them.

I don't want to divert your valuable time but is armor thickness/shell diameter ratio (T/D ratio) modelled to adjust penetration? I assumed it wasn't as I haven't seen a value for projectile calibre.

I came across this page recently and found it to be a very good summary on many of the issues involved:
http://www.spwaw.com/lholttg/penetration.htm (http://www.spwaw.com/lholttg/penetration.htm)
Obviously you can only work within what is possible coding wise.

Have you got armor/ballistic data you are satisfied with for the new models you are introducing into your Kursk campaign?
If I could be of help at all, you have only to ask.:)

I plan to contribute to your worthwhile project shortly. The only reason I haven't yet is I've been busy with a new job in a new town after being made redundant.

I have also had a long term involvement in the continuing development of European Air War, a classic 10 year old air combat game.

Welcome aboard BPNZ
Thanks for the compliments mate, it's be allot of work. But I love it man :DL
The T/D ratio is not used. What is though is simply distance/penetration
variables with random modifiers for a degree of failure. However there is
certainly room for improvement and refinement too. My biggest gripe is
the round is depleted at what ever it hits. So if for example: If a Tiger
AP round hits the fender of a truck the round dose not continue through
the truck and out the other side and blast through a house and finally hit
something that should actually stop it. And of course that means no ricochet neither.
Although I do want to explore these issues to their fullest possibilities
where I could at least shot through a house and kill a tank.:yep:

Thanks for your help offer Brian and stick around you will be glad you did :salute:

Thanks for the quick reply ZW.

Yes, I thought it would be a simplified form.
At least by observation it does seem to calculate the actual armor thickness to be penetrated along the projectile path.
This is obviously important for curved / steeply sloped surfaces.

You might consider modifying the armor calculation routine to (if possible): actual = base/((cos(angle))^1.4)
Yep shame the shell doesn't stay alive after entering object but probably helps reduce calcs.
Can't wait for the Campaign although my comp may struggle (Opteron 175, 3 gig ram, ATI 4670, Windows XP).

Keep up the outstanding work

Hi Brian
It's good another Zeewolf project member is joining us (particularly one with such auspicious connections as the old but great EAW which I fondly remember giving many hours of willing participation to) -- I am sure you won't be disappointed. ZW does his level best to improve modify and optimise the running of this potentially great sim.
ZW has certainly raised the bar on this product and has many constraints (like the issue you raised) to incorporate and modify as best as time allows along with all the other improvements you have obvious seen in the threads. He's done a brilliant job to date and seems like this is only the start.
Word of caution your PC specs are not bad but don't be too put off if your game runs slowly. It will need some tinkering to get it running well but I'm sure you are well on top of that. I have had to turn off some of the enhancements but most I run at max. my PC has an E8500 CPU with 9800GTX+ GPU, 4Gb DDR3PC RAM and runs WinXP and I struggle sometimes during large scale actions. I bear with it as one day (?) I will upgrade and run this game much better. It seems OK on Win 7 so there is life extension in this title; another reason for me personally to underwrite this title with ZW's mods work (his support is excellent BTW).

Happy Tanking Brian Over and Out Morty :salute:

Thanks for the warm welcome Morttheslayer :),

The default game plays OK on my system, but I'm sure ZW's mods will greatly increase the load.

Not wanting to divert attention at all but EAW is a different game now with many new features, including:
- A skin for each individual plane in each squadron
- More accurate Flight Models including modelling 2 speed superchargers and ram effect
- Many more online flying options automatically transmitted to each player

The latest version out soon (1.28e) will have several sets of planes selectable from ingame.

This is where we hang out:http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/85/1/European_Air_War.html
There are some new videos showing the new features on Youtube, mainly by Eman I think.

Question for ZW
I note you are making greater use of the penetration and damage modifiers; increasing the min/max range on some vehicles compared to default.
Are the modifiers that are actually chosen randomly selected between within that range?

Cheers

Thanks for reply Brian, yes you guessed right ZWs mods will ramp up both CPU and GPU load as you will soon hopefully find out!
Yes also I am a member of SimHQ and Mission4Today and am aware of all the update works.
Going off topic momentarily I tried EAW again last year but my GPU drivers didn't like it one bit.
[Not too upset as I am an avid IL2 supporter awaiting the 4.10 patch I make my own missions and this is a big update -
besides with IL2 and T34vsTiger I don't seem to have much spare time!!!]

ZeeW - Love all the new work in progress :yeah:

Since Saturday this have been going very well. The cracking the Playable

has always been the hope that I could create a playable tank - but nothing
to the extent in which I have such an enormous level of confidence I now
have.

Hallo Kamerad,

Check your e-mail !

I have yet to finish the latest update, but it will be another major release.
With a major overhaul of the collision model that was discovered during the
work on the playable tank requirements.
Project ZeeWolf has literally recreated T34 vs Tiger, the defferance from the
default game are remarkable. The successful and on going advances made
recently has really boosted my enthusiasm that (as a result of Project ZeeWolf)
T34 vs Tiger will be the hallmark of WWII tank simulations. :yep:

Wasssup guys and gals and ZeeWolf.

I thought T34 vs. Tiger was long dead after Lighthouse sank. But I'm glade to see someone is trying to mod the game and fix the bugs, mainly the MP bug.

Well my unit, the 12th SS, love playing all kinds of games from RO, to DH, to Arma2/OA, to COH and ect... We are looking forward to playing this game as much as we do the others. However, many in my unit want to know the current state of T34 vs. Tiger multiplayer? Are there any servers up and running or clans/units/guilds currently playing this game together?

I only mention MP because SP only goes so far. Most gamers I know find games that center around SP grows old and stale after awhile. And most people I know love modding this type of stuff from mutators, skins, and scripts, much like what you are doing.

Sorry Hans Ludwig but ZeeWolf is strictly doing single Player work, mods and missions. For MP you´ll have to read older threads which deal with MP.I know there are various mods for MP (currently MPP5) check with Murkz he´s the one involved in the MP aspect of the game. Most of us here on the TvsT forum are more SP than MP-oriented.However if you go to the panzersim.forumotion.com you´ll find there a group of guys organising MP game meetings. for Tvst fans.

As frinik said MP is down on the long list of things for me to do. However,
you are definitely at the right place for T34 vs Tiger improvements. The scope
of work that has been here has made TvsT virtually an entirely new game.
I visited your forum and it looks good, you guys are dedicated WWII fans.

Greetings Kameraden! :salute:
I have decided to finish the last modeling phase for all released and soon to be
released models prior to releasing any further updates. The last modeling
phase is known as "Level Of Detail" or LOD. This will be done by revisiting the
model and create the series of differing models to be seen at various distances.
Usually this is done to the model prior to it's release, but because
the first step I choose was to make certain all the high-resolution models all
worked well. And test the capacity of the game engine in the handling of such
a task. Now the with the use of the LOD's this will have a significant effect on
freeing up CPU and GPU resources, meaning: It will run faster. :know:
This process will take several more weeks before I will have something ready
for release. Of course I may surprise you with Kursk Mission 3 which is done
but with the new models that still need LOD's.

You will see that this extra time will be well spent and I promise not to disappoint you.

Can you explain a little bit what your LOD system or at least how your LOD system will reduce the pressure on the fps in your missions-mods?This sounds like great news as it will allow people with less performing pcs to play your mods and missions without stuttering and choppiness!:woot:

I am waiting for a new graphic card for my new pc and by next week once back where I live I'll instal it and then will be able to download and play Kursk mission 2.

All the best Master Zee and no worries we are patiently waiting.

Hi Guys,
I finally decided to join this interesting thread to add some comments (following the process of the add-on for ages now). First of all - Great work. I know multiple people mentioned it already but the sim is definitely greatly improved. I played the original T34vsTiger and gave-up after a couple of hours due to the inaccuracy of the simulation (the standard stuff like getting killed by a T34 from >1000m and not able to knock-out him at the same time etc). I started to play again using ZW free version and really started to enjoy the simulation. Right now I only have a couple of comments/questions...

Comment to the new Tiger model:
I would guess the Tiger should represent the Tiger version used at the time of the Kursk battle, correct? In this case (not aware that somebody else mentioned it before - otherwise forgive me) is the commander cupola incorrect. The German industry developed three different Tiger 1 versions in total. Check out http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/tiger1.htm (http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/tiger1.htm) for more info. The version in use at the time of the battle of Kursk was the initial one with standard wheels and a cylinder shaped copula. The next version used the same wheels but the updated cupola displayed in the simulation. Just a minor thing but probably worthwhile to mention :D

Question to the donation part:
The current offer will end in January 2011,right? Is there a chance to get the offer updated/extended to get another year of coverage in place? What about different/more offers at all to cover the different aspects of the extensions? I don't want to make it to complicated but at this point in time I find it quite hard to convince people to spend money for less than a half year support left.

Btw. Sorry for my awful language skills.

Thanks frinik,
LOD is simply a separate model from the original at a different level of complexity. In the TvT you can have a maximum of 5.
They work by being made visible and invisible by the rendering camera. Each level of detail model is programed to appear at different distances from the rendering camera. Basic stuff really :yep:

Hi Grey Wolf

Basically I’m a long term player of turn based computer wargames and have little experience of real-time simulations. I was very disappointed with the initial release of T-34 vs Tiger and quickly removed it from my HD.

Reading about your extensive modifications to the simulation and praise from fellow forum members my interest and curiosity has been aroused and I would like to try it out.

Could you please tell me how to obtain your free trial version which I trust will give me more insight into your massive undertaking?

Your expertise and dedication is a credit to you Grey Wolf.

One last thing, as we are already well into 2010 is it possible, if I purchase you mod to have an extension to give me 12 months of your updates?

Greetings Xray and welcome, :DL
Yes, we all understand your disappointment with the initial release,
it was a disaster compared to what it could have been. :yep:The best thing
you could do first, is reinstall T34 vs Tiger again and try as hard as
you can to get through the stock "Single Player" missions. This will
help you understand some basics of tank operation and enable you to
make sure it all works on your system. Then you can add the free ZW
missions that replace a few stock ones with some bug fixes and changes
I made at the first of the year. After that you can decide if
Project ZeeWolf is something you would want to get behind.
By offering Project ZeeWolf as a yearly subscription enables me to
protect my work especially my models that are being used in T34 vs Tiger.
These models are all designed, created and copyrighted by yours truly.
Moreover, the more guys that get on board the lower the yearly price,
it's just as simple as that. I hope you understand it is wise at this
stage of development to have guys that are really interested in the
over all success of Project ZeeWolf.

And yes I do recall mentioning that about the swastika flag. I sure do not
what any Kamerads to be denounced by that "Holier-Then-Thou" crowd. I am
sadly aware of the US puppet government of Germany's continuing crusade of
de-nazifacation. Or should I say: "witch hunt". All in the name of keeping
Germany a vassal state of Washington DC, until 2099. Or until Americans
finally throw out the International-ist scoundrels currently in power.
Meanwhile, back on topic. I do intend to make it safe to play this sim under

Hello Master Zee!

It's been a long time since I posted .I am reading your latest update and impressed by the changes that are coming our way! New models and new mission; good autumn blessings or is it early Thanksgiving?????:woot:

Back form my holidays and I got a new graphic card( unfortunately I goofed and ordered the wrong one.The one is not bad but as performing as the one I had in mind ordering.Still it works OK.I get fps of 24 to 36 playing your Tigers Shake Kurtenki mission with resolution at 1280 x 768 vs half that at 1024 X 768 res. on my laptop)) and I installed Kursk mission 2.Tough nut to crack but lovely morning sky!!!!

BTW why was a new Tiger model needed???In what way is you new Tiger different from the original TvsT one????

One question; is there a mechanism in the Mission Editor that allows for more randomness in the missions????It wiould be nice to replay the same missions with the tanks and vehicles starting from a different spot or with slight variations that would allow you to play/complete the missions in a different fashion/????

Cheers and thanks for the back-to-school goodies....

It's been a long time since I posted .I am reading your latest update and impressed by the changes that are coming our way! New models and new mission; good autumn blessings or is it early Thanksgiving?????:woot:

Hey frinik welcome back! :DL
You ordered the wrong video card :o You mean you have even more bad
luck with buying online? It's got to be a conspiracy man!:timeout:
As far as the new Tiger model goes, I want the Tiger I to be the premier
tank of the game and therefore the need to remodel the Tiger to the best
playable tank. The old one is not as technically correct or as well modeled
as it could have been so I want to fix that. The randomness feature is coming as with allot of things on the list to do :yep:

Cheers, and BTW what video card do you now have?

Hi Zee,

I ordered a Sapphire ATI HD5550 ultimate 1gb ddr3 instead of the HD5570 that I had in mind. It's really my fault Master Zee I just confused the numbers on the order form.

That new card is good but not as performing as the one I had in mind.Still I play TvsT with much higher fps.

I will buy myself another ATI card for X mas.:woot:This time I'll make sure it's the right one....

Good work and definitely excited about the upcoming changes and mission.

I have good news: A kamerad has a 4850 that he overclocked and reported
very good results. He said he max out the memory speed over 1000mhz. I
checkout your HD5550 and you should be able to also. LC has a HD5550 (I

It took me days to read through what must be the longest thread in the history of forums, but I got to the last page eventually.

A quick bit about me. I bought TvT a couple of years ago as it seemed just right. I played the single player missions and then tried online via Gameranger. It soon became obvious that there were problems, so I set about finding solutions. I created the following site for anyone having problems setting the original game up.

http://www.hitenter.co.uk/tvt

I couldn't believe how popular it became, and thanks to French and German enthusiasts it is in multilingual format. (I am now living in France with an ADSL line that disappears every hour or so....).

I have played on Gameranger hundreds of times in standard mode, and those who have the game configured correctly have as well. It has been incredible fun.

I have tried MMP5 single player, but not had a chance to try it online yet. A PC rebuild and telephony problems here have prevented that.

Now, today I tried the Christmas present, and have hit a problem, but have no idea what it is? The same happens in MMP5, but not in the standard game.

I can start and run the game, but after a short while the screen freezes and locks the pc solid. I have tried reducing the resolution to 1024x1280 (instead of 1650x1050) but it still does it. All the graphics sliders are on 50% and anti-aliasing is off. It is in full screen mode.

My pc is:

AMD Athlon x2 5000+ Dual Core (wish I knew a safe way to overclock this).
GeForce 9500GT 1gb
4gb DDR2 ram (667mhz ...I think).
Brand new high spec motherboard and case.
Plus a top grade cooler and a 650w high quality PSU.
(My Dell C521 blew so I transplanted what I could onto a proper ATX so that I can upgrade anything I want now).

Frame Rates:

Standard single player = 40-50fps
Standard online = 30fps - 40fps
MMP5 single player = 30fps
Zeewolf single player = 25 - 40fps

I also use a Belkin N52 tournament edition game controller. This is one of the few that will work with TvT as it has its own flash memory and is programmable. I can start the tank and get moving with two key presses, and switch between commander/gunner, open and close hatches, switch views etc in milliseconds.

I also wanted to say that Zeewolf you have done a stunning job, and I hope that between yourself on this project and the MMP5 crew on theirs that we can all have the best of both worlds.

If I can get over this glitch I will gladly pay up.

Cheers

PS - How do you clear the cache??:hmmm:

morttheslayer

Hi tvst good that your thinking of joining - when you get your PC sorted you won't be sorry.

You asked how to clear the cach, I believe (haven't turned PC on to check so perhaps some kind member will confirm) you'll find it in the lighthouse folder when you've expanded the files. ZeeWolf has referred to clearing the cach previously. When you find it double click and it's run.
Zee also mentions bringing it onto your desktop as a shortcut for easy access since the cach, if not cleared, can cause game problems.

The only other things I can think of (purely generalising) that may cause your problems are memory leak or a component overheating. I'm giving my opinion and am aware I'm just taking a stab in the dark, but if you can eliminate say overheating from GPU and CPU it is helpful. Also is TvsT the only game to do this? Have you compared it to others?
If you dont have a utility for monitoring temperature you might have to do a nifty shift into the BIOS to check temps. I say nifty as you need to be quick as they might cool off a little if you're slow to boot into it after a "heat" application. Still I don't want to treat you like a numpty you're obviously competent enough to rebuild your rig after your Dell gave you problems.

Some of us had problems and upon re-installation they were fixed - I reinstalled 3 times once!! So don't rule that avenue out.

Here's hoping you have some success troubleshooting,
Mr Zees the main man and if he gives any advice I would always defer to him.

All the Best - Mort:salute:

Thanks Morty, :salute: and hello tvst addict, :DL
The first thing I have to ask is: Do you have the graphics files installed?

If not DL them and install them:

http://www.filefront.com/15181093/Msvcr_Files.zip/

You can put them in your windows\system32 folder or T34 vs Tiger folder.

The next thing I want to know is there any mixing of mpp5 mod files with
my ZW mod files?

If so, that is major problem. Fix that.

Your system is pretty powerful you should be ok (5000 WOW!). You can set your
res at 1680 x 1050 and try full settings. Then if you need to adjust start by
turning off Forest animation. Then set your Shadows one notch down. Then
turn you Anti-Alias down to 4 and Anisotropic filtering down to 2 on your
video card settings. then if that does not help reduce your resolution.

Remember: One the Video files and Two the mixing of Mod files.

Cheers :salute:

ZeeWolf

PS: If I were you with your AMD I would get a new video card from ATI like
a HD5770 (They are dirt cheap now) and the fastest RAM I could get for your MB.

I was missing a couple of those dll's so I have copied them into my system32 folder, I will try all versions of the game later and see what happens.

I used to have them, but I forgot that I had wiped my hard drive and forgotten to re-install them following the rebuild.

I have three totally seperate versions of TvT on my pc. In the programs directory I simply created 3 directories, Lighthouse Standard, Lighthouse MMP5, and Lighthouse Zeewolf, I then loaded the game into one and copied it into the other two.

Then I had 3 identical standard fresh installs.

I left the standard as standard.
The MMP5 update was installed on the second one, and the Christmas present went onto the third.

That way I can switch between them, I did this by creating a folder on my desktop with three shortcuts for easy access.

There is no chance of overheating...this cooler is an Arctic Freezer 7, and the system is set up to report any rise in temperature. All I need to do now is find out safe overclocking settings, as I know from the web that these cpu's can go to 3mhz, and the GPU can be bumped up too.

I like the Christmas present, the standard game was very easy, and not a lot happened, but this is far more demanding, both in terms of gameplay and strategy, and trying to control what is now a lumbering tank with an engine that overheats so quickly!

Keep up the good work, it makes World of Tanks look like space invaders? :yeah:

While I remember, for those whose pc's may be running slowly there are a few things that you can do to make it run faster, and they are all free.

1. Download CC Cleaner, and clear out the registry.

2. Download WhatsInStartup, and deactivate all of those programs that start up automatically when you turn your pc on, they all soak up CPU time and they are a menace. I only have two programs that run from startup, one is the sound card control panel for an add-on, and the other is Microsoft Security Essentials.

3. If you are running anti-virus programs, then use CC Cleaner to delete them, then run the registry cleaner again.

4. Download Microsoft Security Essentials. It is an excellent AV application, it comes direct from MS, and you get automatic updates. It is totally free and being from MS, it does not cause you problems and conflicts.

5. MSE also automatically disables Windows Defender, as it does the same job, if it does not disappear from StartUp then you can disable it using CC Cleaner.

6. When running any game make sure that all other applications are closed.

7. Check the icons in the lower right hand corner of your screen, if anything is running in the background that you don't need then close them (they will appear the next time that you boot up anyway). Many of these programs have an automatic update functionality and without you knowing they are spending CPU time contacting the manufacturer and checking for updates.

8. Once you have got your pc 'clean', run Defragmentation. It will tidy your Hard Drive up and allow the disk to be accessed faster.

9. If you want to run a game in a lower resolution than you normally use, you probably go and change it manually each time. You can download Hotkey Resolution Changer. This allows you to select a hotkey combination to instantly switch between two resolutions of your choice, very handy!

10. If you are running Vista, make sure that your hard drive is running NTFS as the file system, not FAT32. Vista is set up to work on an NTFS system, and does not like FAT32 at all. If your disk is FAT32, then the only remedy is to backup the drive and reformat it, then do a complete re-install...so if you have a few days to spare....:O:

I hope that helps someone! :03:

Cheers

Hmmm, I have tried TvT Standard, MMP5, and Zeewolfs, and last night I played World of Tanks for 5 hours. I thought I had solved it, but noooo...even World of Tanks froze after all that time.

I am now thinking that the games controller is causing a problem as that is the only common denominator. I will keep looking until I find a solution, and it may be the USB drivers?

This is a cheap way to get a 'good' pc. Buy a Dell with a broken motherboard but which has a decent CPU (People almost give them away). Then swap all the parts into a cheap ATX case with a new motherboard, cooler, psu and graphics card. Ok, I already had the Dell, but the swap only cost me around £200?

GPU, Prosessor or video card, even memory. I say to try this before anything else...............
Open the case, put a fan, regular household type, blowing into the case , boot up and play. If there are no lock-ups then you know it's a heat problem. Also could be the old-timey memory leak, but you would not know that unless you run a mem tester for a couple of hours.

try this and get back to us.

Thanks Zee using the ATI CCC catalysor I overclocked - cautiously - my gpu by just 10%.Both the pc qnd gpu are new so no point in risking voiding thez warranties by overdoing it.Yes the fps are a bit higher...However the solution will be for me to buy myself a new gpu for Xmas probably an ATI 4890 or 5570 with ddr5. Apparently after reading tons of stuff on the subject of gpu what matters for performance are the nu,ber of treams, the more the better, and the typeof memory; ddr5 being the best and fastest and ddr2 being the slowest.

Sorry Lc My Friend I am an ATI ,an myself but without being fanatical about it.My experience with 2 Nvidia cards has been less than good and ATI has been favourable. Both companies are American but Nvidia does not manufacture its gpu relying entirely instead on Taiwanese manufacturers whereas ATI still manufactures - not entirely though - its cards. Makes may be for better quality control? Anyway it's off topic and I don't want to start a debate ; to each their own as long as they' re happy with it!BTW I read that the GTX295 is a pretty good and performing gpu.See you on the battlefield LC:salute:

OK, as a long time GamingComp builder, I say HEAT!
GPU, Prosessor or video card, even memory. I say to try this before anything else................

After trying various combinations I am inclined to agree with you, and I reckon its the GPU. I have played World of Tanks for a few hours the past couple of days and it freezes after about four. The CPU isn't overclocked and it has the alarm set at 70 degrees, which has never activated.

The GeForce9500GT card is a slimline version that I took from my Dell. Interestingly the Dell blew the PCIE socket, which was where this card was residing. I may look at an alternative graphics card as there is not a lot that I can do about this one, it has an inbuilt fan and I have restricted the speed to 100mhz. I have tried all sorts of combinations of game settings in various games, and although Tvt in its various guises locks the pc up pretty quickly, WOT will also do it as mentioned after a few hours.

At least now that I have a decent size case and motherboard I am free to buy whatever I want, the Geforce was just about the only one available that would fit the Dell case and mobo when I bought it.

There is some free software that I can use to analyse the GPU temp, but I can't remember what it is called??

Ho hum...more expense?

Hey KdF,frinik,LC,tvt_addict,

I got to thinking about the possibility that ATI cards had a nHancer type
utility and (to my surprise) I found one that can replace or work with the
Catalyst program, called "ATI Tray Tools".

I've have the ATI HD4770 cranked up to 830 on the GPU
and 1000 on the mem.

Here it is set to GPU 500 and mem to 850
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ATTBenchmarkResults.jpg

Here it is OC'd to GPU 830 and mem to 10000

http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ATTBenchmarkResults_OC.jpg

"ATI Tray Tools" is more complicated then nHancer but has far mor control
over your video cards features including Over Clocking and temperature
control. And includes a bench mark test too. So, you can experiment
slowly and methodically with some real powerful video tweaks.
And frinik, I think you could do this man, one step at a time until you get
the hang of it, you'll love it.

for me, because like you I was unhappy with my video card performance.
My HD4770 no where near the card you have now and still not close to
being equal to what you have, but now I can play tvt with not even
thinking about the video card. Although I would like to have the HD5770 :DL

For now The Panther D is the Phantom D ;)

Thank you for the warm Welcome :DL
I will get the newest stuff from Steel Beast Pro this month; But Id like to get your stuff next month.
What exactely do I get for 60 $ mate?
I understand correct?, for the money I can have the work you done so far prior release?

I got my copy TvsT from amazon - run smooth on my machine here. AI is stupid but it looks good and I love my Tiger !

That's great Dietger,
The $60.00 is for all finished work and 2010 membership in Project ZeeWolf
Until Jan. 31 2011. This is the first year of Project ZeeWolf and therefore
I have not had to consider late in the year memberships. So, if you would
like to join in Oct. I will give you a good deal that will include next year as
well so you will not feel like you will have to wait until next year to jump on board.
As for your concerns with the Default T34 vs Tiger I will assure you that
my work has already changed T34vsTiger to the point of almost an entirely
new tank sim. And the stuff I am currently working on will be a major move
forward from there.
To fulfill my vision for Project ZeeWolf the work requires (at the least) three
more years in development phase. Please understand that my work on
T34 vs Tiger started a year and a half ago, and the place were at now was
a result of a major focus on learning HOW to do something IN TvsT. As of
now my focus can be on WHAT to put IN TvsT. Clearly a major shift in
production capability. Then after this development phase I can focus on
new missions, campaigns and theater of operations. Which could go on
year after year.

Just checked...my GPU does not support temp monitoring. What I have done is add TvT to the applications list, and I will see if that keeps things under control.

Ok, found the program, Speedfan 4.41. Oh deary me!

My GPU is ok on heat, goes to a max of about 64 degrees, this is not outside the boundaries, as GPU's can run at 80 degrees without problems.

What did surprise me was the CPU temp, hitting 50 degrees within a few seconds on TvT, but staying at around 44 degrees on World of Tanks.

The CPU is 35 degrees on idle and should only be running at around 35 degrees even when overclocked??

My guess is that the thermal paste that was on the cooler is not up to the job, so I will order some quality paste and refit the cooler to see what effect that has.

At least it will be cheaper than a new graphics card. :know:

Greetings to Zeewolf and everyone. Im a first time poster/long time reader of the TvT-Kursk 1943 mod and i finally purchased a copy of T-34 vs Tiger and im totally enjoying it.

Im just curious to your Kursk mod and the $60 donation to contribute for this mod? If i join up in the next few days what will i be able to get from now till 31 Jan 2011 and is there anything much i have missed out so far eg any Patches and such. Also where do i download them from?

I have a many questions to ask but im struggling to think of them (long day at work) lol

Thanks

Just in case anyone else hits problems with screen freezes and blackouts, there is a reason why this happens. The following was extracted from the Nvidia forum, but as you can see this applies to ATI cards as well. Having a low fps seems to be a liability!

***************

Just as a 'disclaimer' here, this thread is not for everyone to post their problems on... The purpose of this thread is to try and help you, but also to prevent multiple topics on the same subject. Lots of people have seen these errors, so hopefully this should help you understand exactly what it is before you post... I have seen and responded to a lot of TDR related topics now where people have not made the effort to do any prior searching... I class myself as guilty here also! The generic error people visit this forum for is:

'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and was recovered.'

Also seen as:
'Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and was recovered.' (ATI cards)
'Display driver xxxxxxxx stopped responding and was recovered.' (others)

Also noted as nvlddmkm.sys, atikmdag.sys, and xxxxxxxx.sys bug-check/BSOD.

As a first off, this is not an nVidia issue. It is not an ATI issue either. These errors are triggered by a Windows service called 'Timeout Detection and Recovery' (TDR). You will only see this error on Windows Vista and Windows 7, as TDR is a feature of the new WDDM driver model (implemented first in Vista). Its meant to be there to help stop BSOD's by resetting the GPU and/or driver when there is an issue. If the problem happens multiple times in a row, it can produce a BSOD.

The problem is normally perfectly solvable, but it can take some troubleshooting to do so. I personally have seen this issue on two separate nVidia builds, and an Intel onboard GPU.

How does TDR work?
Timeout Detection and Recovery
Windows Vista attempts to detect (these) problematic hang situations and recover a responsive desktop dynamically. In this process, the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) driver is reinitialized and the GPU is reset. No reboot is necessary, which greatly enhances the user experience. The only visible artifact from the hang detection to the recovery is a screen flicker, which results from resetting some portions of the graphics stack, causing a screen redraw. Some older Microsoft DirectX applications may render to a black screen at the end of this recovery. The end user would have to restart these applications.

The following is a brief overview of the TDR process:

1. Timeout detection:
The Video Scheduler component of the Windows Vista graphics stack detects that the GPU is taking more than the permitted quantum time to execute the particular task and tries to preempt this particular task. The preempt operation has a "wait" timeout—the actual "TDR timeout." This step is thus the "timeout detection" phase of the process. The default timeout period in Windows Vista is 2 seconds. If the GPU cannot complete or preempt the current task within the TDR timeout, then the GPU is diagnosed as hung.

2. Preparation for recovery:
The operating system informs the WDDM driver that a timeout has been detected and it must reset the GPU. The driver is told to stop accessing memory and should not access hardware after this time. The operating system and the WDDM driver collect hardware and other state information that could be useful for post-mortem diagnosis.

3. Desktop recovery:
The operating system resets the appropriate state of the graphics stack. The Video Memory Manager component of the graphics stack purges all allocations from video memory. The WDDM driver resets the GPU hardware state. The graphics stack takes the final actions and restores the desktop to the responsive state. As mentioned earlier, some older DirectX applications may now render just black, and the user may be required to restart these applications. Well-written DirectX 9Ex and DirectX 10 applications that handle "Device Remove" continue to work correctly. The application must release and then recreate its Microsoft Direct3D device and all of its objects. DirectX application programmers can find more information in the Windows SDK.

The things that should be done to avoid it by our hardware/software providers:
Graphics hardware vendors:
• Ensure that graphics operations (that is, DMA buffer completion) take no more than 2 seconds in end-user scenarios such as productivity and gameplay.

Graphics software vendors:
• Ensure that the DirectX graphics application does not run at a low frames per second (FPS) rate. As the FPS decreases, the likelihood of the GPU getting reset increases. If the application is running at 10 FPS or lower and a complex graphics operation is about to start, then a flush can be inserted.
• For running benchmark tests on low-end GPUs, use the aforementioned registry keys that control the TDR timeout. Remember that they should not be used in production systems because it would affect overall system stability and robustness. Use these keys only as a final solution.

System manufacturers:
• Work with the graphics hardware vendor to diagnose the TDR debug reports.
• Remember that any system that uses the aforementioned TDR registry keys to change the default values is a Windows Logo Program violation.

Windows SP1 improved the accuracy, and reduced the frequency of these events:
Windows Vista SP1 Update
Minor changes were made in Windows Vista SP1 to improve the user experience in cases of frequent and rapidly occurring GPU hangs. Repetitive GPU hangs indicate that the graphics hardware has not recovered successfully. In these instances, the system must be shut down and restarted to fully reset the graphics hardware. If the operating system detects that six or more GPU hangs and subsequent recoveries occur within 1 minute, then the following GPU hang is treated as a system bug check.

It is possible to disable TDR, but it normally happens for a reason, therefore is not recommended nor supported. For more of the quoted jargon, see HERE (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/wddm_timeout.mspx).

Now you know what exactly the error is, you probably want to stop it happening. Now I wish there was a one-stop fix that I could recommend, but unfortunately, TDR events can be caused by many different problems.

Common issues that can cause a TDR:
- Bad memory
- Insufficient/problematic PSU
- Corrupt driver install
- Overheating
- Unstable overclocks (GPU or CPU)
- Incorrect MB voltages (generally NB/SB)
- Faulty graphics card
- Your asking too much of your graphics card. Not one that many people like to hear, but as the blurb from Microsoft states, if your game falls below a certain FPS and something graphically complex occurs, it could trigger a TDR.
- The issue can potentially be caused by a badly written driver or piece of software, but this is an unlikely cause in most cases.

Things to check first:
(Ideally, before you post a topic on a TDR problem, it would be useful to have completed the majority of these to ensure certain things can be ruled out.)
- Run memtest (memtest.org). This should complete with NO errors.
- Check your PSU ratings. Is it providing enough power, and most importantly enough Amps on the 12V rail.
- Check temperatures. Its important you check these at load, which is generally when a TDR event will occur. Everest Ultimate Edition is a good tool for this. If things are too hot, you can use tools such as EVGA Precision to increase GPU fan speeds on graphics cards. Cleaning your system of dust can help temperatures significantly. Common sense will normally tell you if something is too hot, but if you aren't sure, the information is generally available online.
- Test with stock clocks. This includes memory, CPU and GPU (even factory OC'd cards). Best to try each separately so you can be sure if one solves the issue.
- If you are using SLI, try each card separately to see if the fault lies with one.
- Try graphics card/cards in another computer if you can.
- Check for newer driver version.
- Check for patches to the specific game with issues.

Programs to use for stress testing CPU:
- Prime95 (would advise running for at least a few hours).
- Intel Burntest (warning, can cause significant heat!)

Programs to use for stress testing GPU:
- Furmark
- 3DMark Vantage
- Crysis!

Hi Rob

I had a GPU overheating recently 9800GTX+, (some comments I made in thread - KC Good'ay to an old tanker). Simple for me fan had stopped working so all I had to do was get a good aftermarket fan assy - easy eh !!! Ah no !! :nope: but I did it eventually after some butchery. :D
Anyway to the point - your temps seem a little high over 60 deg C running - however I guess this can be possible. I reached 95 deg C when fan stopped - but happily got a warning so I could turn off programme and select V tune to monitor (I let GPU cool a bit before turning off). On start up after the replacement heatsink and fan change it was 38 deg C indicated; -- and under load (Op Flashpoint DR, IL2, SH/Wolves of the Pacific and tvst) reading on selection V tune 45 to 49 deg C.
So make of it what you may. I'm sure you can get a better HS and Fan for your GPU card and I would recommend this as a cost effective solution --- especially if you overclock.
Best of luck with it mate :salute:

I just managed to end the 1st mission successful. I had no luck head on thrue the asigned path, so I flanked west thrue the forstest and tried to move as fast as the Tiger could. Heading up the hills in the south to get better sight.
The last minutes were a shoot out between my Tiger and a PAK + 2 T34 at over 1200m! I got 4-5 hits below the Driver, none was penetrating the armour.

Do hit mark on tanks be were the bullest actuall hit the vehicle?

Thanks Dietger,

Yes the hit marks are accurate. The first Russian mission is hell to learn
that the Tigers are hard to kill. But like in the real Red Army they taught
you how to fire the main gun and hit a static target and you were certified
to tank on all the Tigers you wanted. :haha:
The German tankers however, were trained much more intensive and in
all kinds of conditions before the were sent out. :yep:
Hang in there though you will get better at visually judging distance and gain
the ability to fire faster with greater accuracy.

Great work Zee! Is it the Luchs version of the Panzer II C or simply the regular one? One vehicle that would be great to have is the Hetzer.A mean little tank destroyer , very efficient. Any plans to add it to your " production?

Re the German reticule. How in the game can you slide the grader to have the gun shooting at the exact distance that you need? I find this ability very useful in other games ( PE and SF)?

Cheers and bravo for the good work!

Welcome Knightspel! Im new here myself.
Zeewolf work got me to stay here. :DL Good to hear Zeewolf that the marks are actual hits and not just eye candy awesome! Looks like they wanted to kill the driver! :88) lol My aim needs some training, alright!
In the second mission I was racing the Tank near the second objective with some 40+Km/h downhil, when I suddenly saw 2 PAK right ahead very short distance too short for me to switch positions (main gun swivelled in wrong direction) , I decided to over run the PAK instead! as soon as I crashed into them mission ended with success!
Its a chame that there is no Multiplayer! Would love to fight some "real" T34 with good tankers.

Thanks frinik, I had to edit my post to make it clear on the Germany tanker's issue .
As for the Gun sight reticule: That has been fixed in the June update
and was calibrated to the PzGr39-1 Round. So the PzGr39HL will go beyound
and the SprGr L-4.5 will fall short. The same would be true for the Soviet
Gun sight. The bp365a was the standard, and the bp365n (being the
fastest in meters per second) going beyond and o365 (High Explosive)
falling short.
As for the Hertzer: the Pnz 38 (t) will come first the the Hertzer. The
PanzerJagers will be coming in mid-1944. Of course that will include the
JagdPanther too :DL

Oh! you can use the mouse scroll wheel to adjust you gun sight as well as

As for the PnzII version it is not the luchs type, they came later and only

You will have much greater success using the Gun Sight now.
There was not a single tank in the German arsenal that wasn't obsolete
when facing the T34 or the KV Russian tanks. So yes the Pnz II Ausf C
is very vulnerable and always from day one on Russian soil. But they were
still used. I wanted them to protect truck convoys and accompany the Hanomag and the troopers. Generally to make the scene more realistic. :yep:

Hi ZeeWolf,

How is the work progressing on this update? The use of LODs sounds really promissing to speed up the FPS of the simulation... Did the original game use them?

When are you planning to release this update??

I am really looking forward to testing it !!! :DL

Txema
