The Tiger E1 late version I'll have to make especially for you. I know you
like the later model I personally like the version 1, 1943 . However I do
want to do Ost Front 1942 too. :DL
The King Tiger and later Panthers will first be AI. I want to create the Tiger II and Panther's interior about the same time so they can be made playable and released together in mid 1944.
As for Camouflage that is just a question of time to dedicate to creating the texture maps, but that will come as we move forward.
The early Tiger is now playable :up:

The Late Tiger 1 can be added about the time I release the KingTiger.
Because I will have the wheels etc.
A desert campaign must include tanks of the UK in which I have none.
I would have to start from scratch and add time to study the battles
and land areas, maps etc.(allot of work).
I have started accumulating US an UK tank drawings for the battle of
France 1944, so take heart Kamerad.:up:
As for " 2012 and selecting your tank" that sounds great. However changes
and new functions will be developed as progress is being made along side

I was living in Russia.. St.Petersburg..when the first T34 vs. Tiger was being developed and helped with some of the development...(yes, I'm credited in the Russian version..only as a beta tester..but I helped more with some of the concept with one of the old devs of Panzer Elite, Rainer Rhode).
Im hoping the new issue
will be better, the original..while I liked the graphics...was to me little more than a "demo"..it was woefully short...sound/music/play was just not up to western standards..but the Russian dev company ran out of money..and had to get it out the door...I will reread the thread here, I hope someone has picked up the ball..and improved the first product.

would it be possible to model the sight view instead of a texture/hud in the foreground?
the game would work far better in 3d that way... is this possible?

As far as I remember.. the game was more balanced to even out the odds of the duel between tiger and T34, the stopping power of the tiger was minimialized in favor of this balance. Remember..originally the devs did not have a western publisher and an injection of lots of cash..so the game was going to be released primarily in Russia and former Ukraine...hence..I dont know if many in this audience would like to see their T34's decimated by the tigers at two miles distance. Right before I left Russia...I believe late Oct/Nov..the game was realeased in Russia..and I bought two original copies...and the price was around 200 to 250 rubles.I'll double check...but that is just around 10 dollars..so as you see..the games dont sell for much their..and this was an original issue....when the pirated copies come out..they go to half...so..the devs/investors have not much incentie to spend a lot when the game sells for nothing really in country...the western market is where the money is.
I also found the original commands to be rather confusing and clunky.just not very intuitive to me..and the lack of any realy battle sound..music..although maybe accurate..seemed to leave the game quite flat.
On a good note, I am thrilled that Zeewolf has taken up this project..I really really was so excited when Tiger was released...and then..disappointed at the same time..because I saw a good idea left really unfinished..so Im estatic someone has pulled this together...as sub and tank sims are my favs..and no one is doing much with WW2 german tank sims.
Question..is this going to be released as a one piece stand alone mod..for download or purchase...or parts to be relesaed individual like in PE before the Ostpak edition was released? I love PE..still play it..and the mods there really saved that game..and made it a classic..I would love to see this go this route..and think its in safe hands!

Amd Athlon G57 single core 2.8..(game ran fine with this single core earlier) 4 gigs DDRam...Xfi titanium sound cared..Geforece Ultra 8800 768 all drivers updated...
OS: Windows xp pro sp3....
Im wondering if maybe the most up to date drivers are a fault witht the game? ran fine before..(not sure IF it ran with this newer, now old, graphics card, but should work)..any help appreciated.really want to play Zeewolfs new mods and game..and cant understand why this thing is crashing..thanks much..

All so make sure you have DirectX9C installed and then install the video

Why did the Brits/Canadians removed the front mg? Not enough space/room? What was the reason to eliminate a so much important weapon against infantry? :hmmm:

From a quick search on the development of the Firefly, it seems the Brits desired more stowage space for the 17 pounder ammo over the hull mg, thus eliminated the bow machine gunner position altogether for this purpose. The 17 pounder was much longer than the 75mm rounds carried by other sherman variants. Hope this helps.:salute:

I figured the "Save Keys" issue out :know:
Saved keys are created and kept here in the following folders:
<drive>:\Program Files\Common Files\DirectX\DirectInput\User Maps
This location is standard across platforms:
<drive>:\Program Files\Common Files.
If you do not have the folders "DirectX\DirectInput\User Maps"
then do the following ; :yep:
1.)Download this file "TvT_saveKeys.7z" (http://www.tanksimzw.com/TvT_saveKeys.7z) by clicking on this line
2.)Drag and drop the DirectX folder in your
<drive>:\Program Files\Common Files folder
3.)Now in Tvt set your new keys and see if anyfiles are created
in your new "DirectX\DirectInput\User Maps" folder :ping:
If so your good to go :woot:
if not then your keys where not saved and you OS is blocking it.:o

Thanks much Zeewolf..I'll check tht out tonight..btw..if you need any pics of original German uniforms/smocks..I have many in my personal collection..you show the guys at Kursk wearing the four pocket ss "dot" pattern tunic..only thing, this tunic was not issued till March 44..predominatley the SS at Kursk wore either (tankers) the standard black uniform..or the one piece camo kombi in plane tree/oak..and the grenadier wore one of many a variety of camo "smocks" over their feldbluse...oak pattern..palm tree was very pervasive..as was the plane tree patterns..and of course..the camo helmet covers to go with it(best if smock and helmet cover dont match..they seldom did)..some of the tankers in the ss divisions also wore a blach hbt shirt issued to SS flak crews..as it was favored for hot weather..was lightweight for summer use..and not so cumbersome as the wool wrapper..if you need pictures of any.I have them all. I used all pics of my collection a long time ago when the original medal of honor came out..and there was a coplete mod called "JoJimbos'" mod..the skinds for the uniforms were outstanding...and really made the difference in authenticity..even the new Call of Dutys have pretty hidious use of the german uniforms..they just dont get them right..nor spend the time to get them accurate.take care..

Zeewolf..quick quesion..wouldn't this cache be cleared out automatically when I did a fresh reformat of the hard drive? it seems to indicate that windows is crashing..I will look at the exact wording next time..and also try the fix you mentioned..I know sh5 plays seamlessly..with only one core..with the fix they realesed..and graphics are outstanding..my processor is running at 2.9 gzh... so it should hanlde this game fine..as prior to this new format..it worked fine..thanks again!

Of course everything is cleared when you reformat. But there is still an issue
with the TvT cache being cleared after installing new stuff and editing TvT.
So give that a try. Also the windows crash is a hardware conflict issue in most
cases, so keep that in mind too. As for your CPU as long as you have a good GPU,
lots of ram and v-ram you should be ok.

Hello Zeewolf..thanks..I cleared out the cache..still crashed.I get this message:
T34.exe has encountered a problem and has had to close..and in the details...this tech info:
AppName: tvst.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: objects.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00196c7b
When t34 worked..I had windows xp sp3 (Like now) however two nvidia geforce cards..running in sli..combined ram 512..I will have to look what geforce model the cards were and Iwas running an audigy 4 sond card..NOW I have everything also identical.but hae nvidia 8800 GT with 768 vram.and have an soundblasster Xt fi sound cards..of course, I am running much updated drivers of the invidia card..I think back then it was in the 160 or smething..and running different drivers for the old card..that is the only difference between the old sys which ran the game fine..and the system now..which as menitoned has better graphics card and sound card..
SH5 plays on this computer I have now..very fast..and also played fine on the older video card and sound card..so..it could be a hardware conflict that this newer (although now old) video card has with the game..not sure..the game came out in 08 end of 07 and this card came out probably in 08/09..but..still I cant imagine why this card would crash the game..unless the drivers simply are not compatiable..kind of stumped here.but..maybe you can see something in the error code which I printed..I'll get some files off to you.thanks!
P.S. I did not yet add any mods to the game so..should have no editing issues..trying to run the game stock out of the box.

hI Guisong/Fabian ; one basic, GOLDEN rule before you barge in on a thread which has nothing to do with what you're asking.READ or CHECK all the Threads on the forum.THere are several threads with stickies /posts dedicated to Steel Fury.This one deals with the game T34 versus Tiger (tVSt).
There 's a nice guy named Kyth who offers a link on how to use SF mission editor please consult the appropriate thread to find the link.

Hi Zeewolf..I uninstalled..wiped everything in the lighthouse file...uninstalled drivers to 186.16...game still crashes back to desktop..so.I think Im running out of options here to get the game working....the pc is essentially running as it did when I last played TvT..so..Im at a loss to understand why it keeps crashing.if you can think of anything else..please let me know..I have run out of ideas..unfortunately..and no issues with my hardware/software that I can find..I am running windows sp3..but was running that last time the game worked..thanks!

Don't worry I it ran before it will run again. In the folder: T34vsTiger\Video
try deleting the video files.

i read the newest thread about installing TvT. So i can say that the new driver (260.99) for Nvidia cards is running fine. I have a GTX 295 running with it but i have Win 7 as OS.
So my experience was that you have to install (as ZW explained) TVT from the scratch. Everytime you install TvT, please check if its running. We all had much troubles but at least we all solved it. Step by step is the best way.
When TVT is running, make a copy of it (rename it as you want. my was TvT copy) and then try to install the following mod. So if it crashes, you do not need to install it anew.

Sorry for jumpin in here, but have you tried installing DirectX 9.0c before installing, and again immediatly after installing?, TvsT looks for files in 9.0c and the newer versions dont have 'em.

I'll retry reinstalling directx 9.0c..but as far as I can tell when I run the direrextxdiag from the run menu.its all up and working fine..but worth a try. thanks
May sound silly..but when I download and try to extaract the directx files..it asks where I want to extract them to (what file) and I dont really know what file to extract them to and dont want to screw something up..so..any idea where I should extract them? I thought they would self extract and find the correct place to self install.

Thanks.I downloaded the redistrubituale version of directx 9.0c from June 10..thing is..when I oopend it..and told it for exammple to extract it to my desktop.it then extractd some 60 OTHER winrar files..a multidude of directx files..and I THINK its one of those many files I then must extract to the windows system 32 file? sorry..not sure..typically the game itself will install it right where it needs to go..adn the appropriate version..this seems to be extracting many other files which they themselves need to extract...maybe I should just choose the most recent for my os? Sorry for the hassle..
Well..I extracted the file to desktop..then saw a dx setup..hit that.and it went ahead and installed directx and all files..still game wont run...too bad..this is just too strange. I assume the game runs fine in windows 7..does SH5 work in windows 7? I just may have to get a new computer sooner than later.the one I have is just having too many issues I think..although SH5 plays fine.no problems whatsoever.

Try loading a mission in the editor.
Start the editor and in the left top corner select File menu and the Load Level
and select any mission file.
Then whether your successful or not go to your root directory and e-mail me a copy of the editor.log file.
The last thing that is loaded during the tank tracks across the screen is the
tree files. So I am interested in viewing the point of failure.

AI vehicles that I have drawings for - include German trucks and halftracks.
Kübelwagen, Jeep and SdKfz 234/2 Puma will come much later. I would like
however to model German motorcycles, because of there wide use.
They would give something new to the scene and would be a historical addition in convoys and such.
I should mention a criteria that I use that my be of some help, and that is
if the item was common for the era of 1941-43 and have drawings and resources I want to put it in the game.
Like the Flak 3.7cm, it is excellent but I need drawings for it - I definitely want to put it in.
Also any WWI artillery that was used by the Germans or the Soviets I want to include. Like the Skoda 30.5cm heavy mortar for example would be great.
Don't forget about that new building models will lead to towns and city action and city defense battles etc. all kinds of new stuff to consider.

But, the issue is that, at far range, the ground map has disappeared, especially at the first german mission when you see some enemy tanks through the forest from the hill just in front of you. Do you know how to increase the display of the ground map ?

Thanks Zee, I received it but there is a curious problem. I have changed the value with notepad then saved the script file then launched the game. And I experimented a direct crash to desktop at the loading of the game with a Critical error. Why ? What is wrong ? Don't I used the right program to change those values ?

Delete all duplicate files! Even if you rename the file the program will read it
and if there is any duplicate "class" it will crash.

Jochem no need to feel embarrassed ;these things happen with translation....I used to be a professional translator and I remember reading funny things that people translated with their own native language in mind without realising that their literal translation had a very different meaning in the other language...
Even between British and American English you have similar words that mean different things; fags( cigarettes in British slang and homosexuals in the US) and to knock up ( to get a girl pregnant in US slang and just knock at a door in the UK) are 2 examples that come to mind:D

It looks like a Monday release for the last release for 2010.
The Flak88 model is ready for it's first release, although not totally complete
I still need to add some LOD and a more detailed texture skin. That will come
later in February.
Also it needs mentioning that allot of the special FX have been re-worked
to a more realistic level.
This will be a good final 2010 finish and a great start for 2011.

Hello Zeewolf..when I loaded the mission editior..after the tank tracks..I got an application error...here is what it said:
The application has failed to start, because the MSVCP71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Well ingsoc84 you turned out to be a real blessing, :woot:
Old ZeeWolfy is at the moment chasing down a bug that must be fixed before releasing the final 2010 Update.
It has to do with the end of the mission when you complete all the objectives(it's obviously something I did)
and is causing me to test all the missions, one at a time to make sure I fixed it. So to all please be patient with me,
I sure do not want another repeat of the Oct. release chaos :doh:, so the drop-dead deadline panic had to go:timeout:
and I sure learned my lesson :know:.

I'm a big fan of Tvt and I'm trying to complete all Russian and German missions in the game before I try your updates. I managed to finish all the Russian missions but I'm stuck on the last German mission (mission 6). I can clear the cross-roads without any problems, ditto the 2 Russkie tanks taking potshots at my column from the rear. Its after the cross roads that I keep getting stuck.
Manoeuvering off-road after the cross roads like going up this hillock on the right tends to induce a CTD (Crash to Desktop). Have you ever got past Mission 6 in the original Tvt? Would appreciate any advice on how to complete this mission. I tried to access the Lighthouse forums but they have cease to exist.
Will installing your "mscvr mod" resolve the CTDs on mission 6? Or is this an inherent bug in the original TvT that can't be resolved. I would just like to complete the original mission 6 before trying out the Zeewolf Mission 6 which will obviously write over the original.

If you have a working October Update you do not need the v3A. A new mega
file 2011 is coming that will make all the previous DLs obsolete. So if you get
the Final 2010 working you are good to go.

A special question (as always). Is it maybe possible to have some tanks with broken tracks and seeing the crew bailing out?
What i mean, there were never enough Tiger I tanks. Tanks with broken tracks were secured in the heat of the battle and repaired. From this point of view is it possible to make a mission?
You know Wittman lost his tank in the Normandy campaign (broken track after a 6 pounder hit it) but managed to call support and found his tank later. Its only an idea, nothing more.

the cache before playing it your good to go.

Well AI tigers aren't that much problem, it just feel bit too much like "uber-tank" when i can drive 60km/h in cross roads when in reality
tigers could barely hit 40km/h's in hard roads...also i can switch 1 to 8 gear in uphill without fear of stalling the engine. To be honest it's not big issue but i'm just after full realism, hope you understand my point. :salute:

Is it hard to change gear ratios/engine power or whatever cause unrealistic top speed?
I don't mean to be pain in the ass, i know you have lot's of other work to do with game...

Got it! Tiger is now much more like it's should be in my opinion,
heavy and slow beast! Top speed in cross roads is now 26km/h
wich i think is pretty realistic in those conditions. :up:
Are you going to include this in the next update or is this special file for whiners only? :haha:

Since there's lots wrong with it I just told her I need the help of a bloody good doctor to give me time to finish it.
Anyway I need time to test the fabulous all in one patch which thanks to Zee has elevated this game to where we all thought it should have been when it came out!! Now its looking like it will be even better!!
Just one request from me - I love the Russian snow and snowy things --- -- all burning and exploding - er !! in the snow erm !! ah !! sorry I said it again.:haha:
I know I know Zee is very busy - but if there's ever a chance in the future for a "white Christmas" - er in the snow! I'd love you Zee beyond the call of duty. (No Not COD !!- yer actual obligation of a call of duty).
Will be dropping in between heavy renovations (like slipping a new roof on and moving the foundations an inch to the right for Mrs PC). Oh and I'll be renewing my subs soon.

1.) The new AI Panther Ausf A is done
2.) Winter landscape is currently in the works and coming along nicely.
the land textures and the new code for the land is near complete but
Note; This will take some time to create new textures(and models) for the Human, vehicles, trees and structures etc.
3.) The NebelWefer has new and more realistic smoke trails.
I'll post some images as soon as I am satisfied with the progress.

I have T34 vs Tiger and the game runs fine on Windows 7 except no sound!
I don't have any sound in game - I think im getting a message at the beginning "Could not initialize sound driver" or something like that.
Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone can help me solve this?

I have very much enjoyed the mod, a vast improvement on the original, as you say the future is promising. Here are a few thoughts on it, excuse me if I repeat others, I haven't read all 143 pages on this thread! I have a crash problem on restarting a failed mission sometimes, no biggy, I think it's about clearing the cache? I think the tiger is not affected speed wise by going up hill, is that fixable? would it be possible to reduce the amount it skews when hitting a destructable object, particularly if it's moving slowly and hits a tree. When you use AI driver and call for a halt he doesn't stop it, just puts it in nuetral, active braking would be good as well; even if you put the brake on, it seems like it takes too long to stop. It would be nice if you could give the AI driver speed presets, ie. keys 1-8, each representing a specific speed between 3 and max kph other wise you have to listen to him each time you tell him to speed up. Max speed over rough terrain is too high but I think that is being addressed? I think it is possible to confuse the AI gunner when designating targets and then he stops firing completely until you turn him on and off, I may be wrong on this. If you get to an enemy gun position there is often the crew standing there, if I was them I'd run away or play dead instead of waiting to be machine gunned! I know you are working on a system to repair tracked tanks and resupply them in the field and this will be great. It's a shame you can't change the load out before a mission, the first two in Kursk could use a bit more HE. I think it's been mentioned but the line of sight through trees etc, needs work, it's annoying to be shot at by things you can't respond to except through AI gunner. Some missions that have more of a defensive, rather than offensive flavour would be great too, the tigers excelled at this. Keep up the good work, Cheers!

I like your idea of using the 1-8 keys. As for the brake issue I believe the
rolling stop is much more realistic especially on hills, it coasts down hill
nicely.Your idea about load-out selection is great that would be a very
welcomed addition. The mission creation is a phase I want to be able to
focus entirely on that would cover every year of the war, I am not there
yet but I am working toward that. So, please be patient Kamerad.

This would indirectly solve the problem of there top speed being too high as well.

Well, I discovered all this pretty late compared to a lot of the rest of you and had to dig out my old copy of TvT that I haven't played in awhile. All this looked so good that I just had to give it a try. I wasn't a hugh fan of the original release but these mods have got me interested :up:

You look like you did awesome :haha: The problem with the 600% is with using the coaxial machine gun, it increased the percent. Although the MG rounds
are no longer counted the hits are. The next update that I am currently working will squeeze in a fix. I might even eliminate the percent from the tally altogether.
My plan is to add kill rings to the tanks gun barrel during the campaign, but that is still a ways down the road .

Zee, is the gun barrel seperate from the texture maps? if it is, perhaps it would be really easy to make a small number of modified textures, if one wishes to have his total kill count, then all he would have to do is replace his current Tiger texture with one that has the proper number of kills on the barrel. it seems like it wouldn't take very long to make from one to 50

The kill rings are a separate file. Here is an example of the Alpha channel for
the 35 Kill ring file

"K_Rings" then the number of the rings with "_35" . So the file looks like this

if there is a "user control". I wish frinik could add some help he used Vista
with great success and really likes it. So, I am sure Vista is over managing

Ok, looking forward to the keys solution in Vista. As for the End of mission
fix, I'll take a look and revisit the issue and see if I can do what is needed.
The Russian mission end issue is another one I put on the back burner.
but I'll see if I can get both those resolved for the next update that is
currently in the works. Meanwhile the Keys issue for Vista is one of those
that I want your feed back on, so it can be passed on for future reference.

Ok, here goes concerning saving the control key changes in Vista. I was logged on as Administrator and then I turned off the User Account Control (UAC) through MSCONFIG and then re-booted. When you do, Vista pops up a little red shield in the task bar telling you that you have disabled the UAC so at least I had confirmation. I ran TvT clicked the "Default" setting and the keys changed. I then clicked apply and then backed out of the game. I checked the C:\Program Files\Common Files\DirectX\DirectInput\User Maps folder and it was empty.
I also tried to move the "DefaultControls.script" file from the C:\Program Files\Lighthouse Interactive\T34vTiger\Scripts\Common folder to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\DirectX\DirectInput\User Maps folder. I ran the game went into the control keys area and clicked "Default" but nothing happened.
I finally put a copy of the "DefaultControls.script" file in both folders and got the same result as in the first paragraph above. It let me change them with the "Default" button but nothing changed in the User Maps folder. The file was there but untouched.
Phew! Any other ideas just let me know...

checked:
1.) Do you have a Joystick?
2.) Re-install the DirecX 9C that came with the game.
I know these things can be frustrating but with out your help and the help

It won't install 9c because I have Direct X 11 installed. I checked on the website and they claim it is backward compatible with Direct X 9 but who knows :06:
And yes, my joystick is a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

If when installing the game the disks requests an install of an older DX version, please allow said install. The DX installer will check current DX files on your PC and update and add as needed. This is a huge problem for our older games. They need the old DX versions.

Ok, now this is important, did you DL the 44mg file to disk then install or did you start the installation immediately, click Run?

I downloaded to disk and then installed. It displayed the install slide bar and filenames as it progressed. I think you are correct, it shows the latest version but the files are there for the older version.

Ok great, I sent you a e-mail with the contents of my User Map folder. Tvt may not create the files but still my read them. And once the game reads them it my write to the new files any changes. It is worth a try:up:

Unfortunately, nothing changed. Should I be testing this after removing the "DefaultControls.script" from the scripts\common folder in T34vsTiger or leave it there? I have tested both ways but I was just wondering what you think is correct.

My joystick does not do anything in the Control Settings Menu. Only my mouse is able to be used.

By the way, so far the End Mission file is looking better. In one mission that failed, I had 3 shots fired, 1 shot landed, I did use the coax, and the Accuracy said 33% :up: Of course, it still says I am playing as a Russian but I know you said you are aware of that...
One thing I did notice in another game that I just failed, I didn't fire any shots, none landed, but the Accuracy said the word "Text" rather than "0%".
As I have said, none of this is criticism. I am just trying to provide feedback to help make this a better sim. I think you have done a super job improving on what was not a great product :salute:

Okay, so I've downloaded the from the link and installed successfully on top of my T34 VS Tiger folder, game starts up fine, but so far every time I've tried a mission it's loaded and then crashed the game when I click to start :dead:
I did have your free missions installed at first - they're what persuaded me to join, could that have interferred with the full 2011 Febuary installation? :hmmm:

Yes, that is correct. It is important to read and take note on the error message, they will help me solve any problems. The good news is allot
of others have had similar problems and a usual cause is and installation
error.
So, be sure that this is a temporary condition. :up:
Now if you do a fresh install remember to (after uninstall) delete any remaining folders in the T34vsTiger directory:
<drive>:\Lighthouse Interactive\T34vsTiger\ "no folders here"
Then do your reinstall :yep:

Hi Txema,
I am working on tweaks that increase the fps, especially in the Kursk missions. You will notice the difference in particular the Kursk mission 3.
However, the number of tanks and other firing and movable objects still has a dramatic effect on the fps. I have a Radon HD 4770 Video card and the
range is in game is 170 - 6 fps. The video card plays the most vital roll in
this battle. And this is a change from my previous belief that the CPU was
where the horsepower was needed. :up:

I tried a couple of the new missions in your amazing download pack and performance is the #1 issue. In German mission #3 (or #4? the one with all the Russian artillery firing), I averaged about 8 FPS - totally unplayable, which was so disappointing!
Specs:
Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.8 GHz
ATI Radeon 5870 - still one of the fastest single-GPU cards you can buy
4GB RAM
Windows 7 x64
I am running @ 1920x1080 with 4xAA & 16xAF, all details maxed, which is fine in the stock game.
Thoughts or suggestions?

I'm very busy at the moment (working on the Easter release). I gave you the opportunity with your first post on the issue but I guess you were to busy at that time to give me more details. However I find it impossible to believe your fps could be so low.

No problem, I understand. And yes, normal life took over my gaming time for a bit there so I couldn't be of more help at the time.
I run with all details maxed except forest draw distance and shadows - both of those are set to about half detail. I have also tried disabling fancy video settings such as anti-aliasing and ansiotropic filtering, neither of which helps. Resolution is 1920x1080 pixels.
With the stock game I run between 25-70FPS, which is quite good. In the new (awesome!) missions in your additions, I sadly can't get above 15FPS and average around 10FPS.
So maybe after the Easter release you can send me your video settings and we can go from there.

Well, you are getting far below what your CPU and GPU are capable of.
Although the new changes made in the Easter update will be a great help,
there is a couple of things you can do now. First, check out ATI Tray Tools.
It is a great tool for Redeon cards with some really powerful set of tweaks
that can be save as a profile to run only in TvT. Note: you do not need
any overclocking or hardware speed tweaks. However, you can learn very
quickly how to construct a profile that can be more DX 9C compatible for
TvT.

I have same problem like Bleser. It doesnt matter if i turn off all the eye candy or all to max. it's still at 10FPS. I tried the 4GB patch, but nothing changed. I also use the ATI Tool, is there something special to adjust?
I'm so frustrated, because when i look at your specs Zee and guys like me and Bleser have low FPS, don't get it. There must be something wrong, dunno.

Just tried compatibility mode, went back to "Windows XP SP2", with zero difference in either the stock game or ZeeWolf's mod.
I wonder if ATI's Windows 7 drivers are the issue... I'm running the latest 11.3 drivers, released this past March.
Too bad I don't have a good nVidia card to pop in my system and try. :cry:
FYI, I have submitted this performance issue to AMD. Hopefully someone in their camp will grab the game and try it out on Windows 7 64-bit and help solve the issues. Doesn't make sense how this superior hardware struggles so much.
If I get really bored one day, I might try a Windows XP install and see if performance is improved.
And, so I don't go drop $350 on an nVidia card unecessarily, if ANYONE is running an nVidia setup on Windows 7 64-bit with wonderful performance, PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Wow you guys, this is great I am getting so real feed back on this FPS
issue. With out hearing anything contrary I just assumed everyone was doing
ok or better then me (with the fps). And yes gordovembu was an inspiration
with his report of " i am experiencing absolutely no frame rate issues. Averaging between 50-65 fps". :woot:
BUT - I am getting frame rates now that I never even come close to. And this is with my 512vram HD4770.
I still have a wide range (depending on GPU load) in fps, but even that has been increased.
This Easter release must have feed back so I can tell if I am on the right track.:yep:
This will be especially true for you guys ( bleser and flying-kane) because I
am confident you high-end guys will experience the greatest benefits. :up:

I do not know how to explain this but I will give it a try. The hardest part here is to
understand that even though the FPS is low it is still very playable. Back when screen
resolution was 340 x 220 a fps of 12 looked like a slide show it was horrible, but not in TvT.
Having been at this for quite sometime now I believe that the screen rendering is near
constant. Rendering in hundreds of a second. This rendering capability is due to many
things especially the massive development made that focused on this area.
And here in TvT it is as if 12fps plays like 24fps and 8 like 16 and so on.
This has been a real challenge to say the least but regardless I still play TvT
and enjoy it very much. However I totally understand that the fps issue is
not going away until the fps is up there. So here is some images that will
I hope encourage you that I am on the right track.

The changes made are to the use of the older DirectX 9c with a more common DX 9c. Thus eliminating the need for the
DX 9c shipped with the original DX version that is a hassle to install on Win7 32/64bit system. Although there is no firm
guarantee that it will do as planned, so those with Win7 work with me with your feed back. The stock files are available
available in the file "ZW_2011_Easter_RE-Store.exe" for an easy restore if you have any problems.
The new playable Tiger (early version) is included in three camo schemes Brown, Green and Winter. Also the Panthers
have new skins too as well as others. The winter work continues and will be in the next update with a new map and
missions. All the previous ZW German missions have been re-worked in particular the German missions 2,3 and the
Kursk mission three with much better performance. The new Kursk mission 4 is included and the final on the Kursk
mega map for awhile. The next Kursk mission will be on a smaller size map of 18Km x 18Km, Procharovka (the huge tank battle).
Meanwhile the performance issue has my full attention at this time.
Included to is the Kursk Mission one through four are on a single set of raw data files. This will help to keep the
updates down in size and the terrain consistent between missions, very helpful while designing new missions, etc.
The new German single mission one, two and three are using the same single raw data file set as well. Along of course
with an enormous number of new technical changes.
It will take me about an hour and a half to upload the 105mg file and after
that is complete I'll send you new members the link.

If you were only hit once and it killed you that was either 122mm round or a 152mm round,
they're out there too and blasting away. :o

First: Mission accomplished, performance has increased dramatically! :up:
For example:
3. Zitadelle mission:
before: max 10fps
new update: max 35fps/min 12fps (when heavy arty starts firing)
The other missions are playable for now. I think you are on the right way Zee, thx so much!!!
The new stuff is overwhelming, nice skins and nice Tiger model! The Panther looks so beautiful, can't wait to drive it some day.
After all the praise, some negative things and advices. :oops:
First:
What i have seen, first german mission in normal singleplayer. When planes arrive, all tanks rise their guns and start shooting at them. Dunno, but this isn't very helpfull, i know Tigers have a 88mm gun^^, but i don't think Tigers used them against planes, but on the surface...
Second:
I mentioned it some time before, the penetration model must be tuned.
Today i played first mission. I faced some T34/85 and SU85 on point blank range (ca. 300m-600m), they hit me some times, northing happened to me, only track damaged or "damn, turret is hit!!". Afterwards i wiped them out and started to reach the last point, the hidden Pak and T-34. I was in a save distance for 76mm guns (1200m!!!), but then the paks and T34/76 starts firing on me. After 3 or 4 direct hits, my tank was a burning chunk of metal. Even with tungsten ammo, the 76mm gun is effective against Tigers front until 500m!
Third:
It's more a suggestion than a problem. I don't know if it is possible to implement this. Radio communication with other tanks in your squad, because at the moment other Tigers drive for themselve and sometimes they stand around doing nothing.
A radio menu: Open Fire! Cease Fire! Follow me! Build wedge formation etc...
I think you know what i mean. This would bring more realism to TvT.

First, thanks for your efforts :salute: I don't know what all the changes were that you made so it's possible that some fixes to problems below were not included in this mod but I have included everything that I have noticed...
Here are my CPU spec's:
Vista 32 bit
Intel Duo Core 2.66 Ghz
2 GB Memory
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
Test Mission: Zitadelle Mission 2 - The Gantlet
Video Game Settings: All on Max except Shadows Detail, 1 click from Max
After Easter Mod Results:
1) Checked to see if it would now save my control key settings after leaving and then running program again. It did not.
2) FPS - Basically the same. About 6.6 during the bombardment.
3) Cannot increase Gear setting past G3 from Commander position. Must switch to driver to increase...
4) Tank pulls left or right almost constantly. Difficult to keep tank moving in a straight line (I was in G5 at the time). Terrain??? Or, I thought possibly a Joystick problem so I disconnected the joystick and reloaded, but no change.
5) The change in color of the lower left MFD (tank in a circle) to neon green is difficult to see with green grass terrain underneath. I think I prefer the white/gray color that it was previously. Just my preference.

That's great news Kane, I'll stick with it.
Your issues:
First; I will do all I can to get to the bottom of this problem. I am aware
of this and I want to focus on the whole aircraft/ anti-aircraft issue.
Second; I did make some changes with this issue and will continue experimenting until we get it right.
Third; I really like this idea. This will take new code and allot of work but
I totally agree it would be great, but for now please be patient Kamerad.

Hi KDP,
Is this only in the Kursk missions for you 1-4 issues?
The gear issue definitely sounds like a conflict problem. I must say too
that your Vista 32 in a new area for me I think you are the only one I
have heard from with this OS. Try re-installing TvT and after adding the
ZW Updates try updating (web update) your DirectX. This will give you
a fresh start.
And a note about uninstalling tvt: After doing a Uninstall go to the tvt
folder and delete manually any files and folders below /T34vsTiger:up:

I finally found my disk and installed a fresh copy of TvsT.
I also have 2 brand new systems both running Win7 (one 32 bit and one 64 bit). Both with SLi and mega memory, so the real question is what do I install to get up to speed? Everything since the beginning or Just last months and this beta????

That's fantastic, I've learned that Nvidia is the best choice when it comes to video cards for tvt. I have recently come to the conclusion that they
are the best performers with tvt. And have you noticed any deference between win7 64bit over win7 32bit?

Some preformance wise, takes more than 4 gb memory. Little faster at boot. Will not install some older programs. Makes 2 program file folders on install, one regular and one for Win x86. After installing these on both, I'll give 'em a whirl later tonite.

However you state that it must be installed on top of "ZW_2011_FEB_Update.exe" foundation file.
I have never received that file. The latest files that I have are:
ZW_FINAL_2010_Update
ZW_MO_OctoberUpdate_v1A
Can I install the Easter update on top of these two files or I need to receive the "ZW_2011_FEB_Update.exe" foundation file ?

As for the tank pulling I am aware of that and I was hoping that I fixed that
and you are correct it is a result of the Kursk terrain. Apparently the large
distance between terrain vertices causes a glitch in the suspension's and
track computation. This is a bug that has vexed me for quite some time
now (it is hit and miss for me)and I may have to reconsider using the mega
map in the future if this can not be resolved.
However, the gear issue or problem you have with the inability to go higher
then G4 is new and have not experienced this problem. Please supply more
details.

Doing testing, please post your computer specs, video card specs and whether you use the Nvidia Control Panel or ATI control panel to force settings and what the settings are or do you just let the game over ride the video settings for the specific game profile in either control panel.
Screen resolution also, please!

my specs are as follows:
Intel Core I5 2500K @ 3,6GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM 1333MHz CL9
AMD HD6850 1GB DDR5
Windows 7 64bit SP1
I use the ATI Tray tools with Catalyst 11.3!
My Resolution is 1280 x 1024 (Desktop and Game).
In game settings: all on max, except tree animation (slider is left).
ATI tray tool: all on default, without vertical synchronisation.
Textures quality on high and mipmap textures on high, too (default is on very high). Anisotrope Filtering is off.
What i have to say is, with new update it's playable for now! But, when arty starts firing, the fps drops down to 14fps and sometimes below.
Zee is on the right way! I hope it becomes better and better with every update. :03:

Ok, I should have known you meant while in Auto Driver mode.
I did some changes to the gears and engine rpm. This had an
effect on auto mode too.
But there is some keys that you need to try in Auto driver mode.
here is an image of the keys I use (but you can change the keys to your
preference) . Notice the slots that say increase RPM/Slow forward and
Decrease RPM/Position. Try those while in auto driver mod and you will see
why I have the top speed reduced in auto mode, Auto mode if for battle. :up:

PS: In Manual mode you peck the those keys but in Auto Driver you press them once.
