Hi ZW,
Quote:I am looking at the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad Core 3.4 Ghz :O:
with 64bit Win7 and 4gigs Ram
ZW this is what i have, these are my pc specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad Core 3.4 Ghz
GTX 295
4GB Ram
Win 7 32 Bit
LC
PS: and it runs only with 1.2-3.4 fps
NO ZW, CPU speed doesnt help here because TvT is written for single cpu. From the beginnig i had AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad Core 3.4 Ghz and made my beta tests with it

Oh s***!
Well I had hope that AMD would help. But the certainty of the ability to
use only a single CPU - am not sure on that yet. With Windows 2000 pro
there was a boost with prioaff.exe . But there is something that I can say
for certain and that is that 25% of the drag is the collision code. I will
have to really examine this area for a solution.
Meanwhile my efforts will be re-focused on missions and battle scenarios
that will run well on the majority of PCs. However make no mistake about it
my work will continue to fulfill my vision for this Sim.
Thanks LC

Hi Morty
Hi Lc
I think what you need is a 'Gulyasleves' cooled CPU but strain out all the particles first! :har:
First of all yes with wine second its very hot. We have a kind of hot "chili" so i´ ll give you some of it and not only you but your tank and Notebook are getting very hot:D

Never mind ZW but i wish you luck (for us too). Hopefully you can solve the collision drag but i am very confident that your new missions will be a hell of fight.

Zee I think CPU alone is not the solution; a very strong GPU is required( minimum 1 gig dedicated and 1.5 to 1.8 even better) and available RAM is also important as it plays a role in how fast a pc works .Minimum 4 to 8 or more.Your huge maps may be part of the reason.I play the original TvsT with minimum 18 to 20 but with your missions 1 and 6 they drop to 8 to 14 and even lower with Kursk light mission 1 (4.5 to 5.8).It;s got to do with coding and the size of your maps. You may have to scale them down may be by half and see what happens.:hmmm:
JHS has a good processor but his GC is only 512 mg (ATI X1800)if I am correct this explains why his fps are so low
Just a thought....:salute:

Frinic & Zee, most of us have fairly strong specs - not top of the pops but no slouches either.
I wholeheartedly agree with Frinic.
I came to the conclusion (monitoring my CPU and GPU) that it's a combination of Graphics and CPU mainly. My graphics are run at 1024x768 not the screen native Resolution but the NVid 9800GTX+ seems to give best results at this with TvsT. There are some strange anomolies in performance like FPS goes up a lot when using F5 Gunners or Commanders views until you traverse; and in some areas it's OK; and in others the screen tears slightly, and sometimes the screen will freeze (slightly/momentarily) and FPS drop dramatically, and you can be stationary when this happens!
PC Specs CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 (2x3.16GHz) 1333 M/Board Asus P5QC Skt775
Graphics Ge Force 9800GTX+ 512mb o/b mem RAM 4 Mb Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz
HDD Seagate 500Gb SATA2 7200rpm Audio Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio7.1
OS XP Home SP3 Task Manager- 18 Apps running (incl TvsT) no overclocks
When I've flashed up Task Manager the core/s run about 53% so don't look like the're sweating!
I always felt a better GPU with at least 1Gb of quality onboard RAM (like DDR5) and a slightly quicker "screen monitor" response would lift my hardware performance up considerably. Also a sound card with some onboard processing RAM might help. Love to try and report all this theory but I'm in "saving up" mode at present :hmmm:
I honestly think Zee you've got your work cut out with this programme, I mean little things like your tank is ascending a hill - its sloping to the left
so you need constant/periodic attention to steering cos you'll steer following the lie of the land if you don't - like real life!! Now that's pretty wonderful but it must be hitting your resources (RAM, CPU whatever?).
I think you can only do the best you can and get a balance.
Has anyone noticed BTW when your tank hits a tree you sometimes stop and/or get the train on rails effect, but the other tanks seem to just steamroller through with no ill effects (Wolfgangs tree removal service someone called it :haha:). Maybe this effect if applied to all tanks would seize it all up on CPU oveload!! I don't know (there again there's a lot I don't know according to Mrs Panzer Commander).
I've solved nothing as usual!! "A problem shared is a problem Doubled" proven once again eh!!

Morty, I have been grumping about that same issue ever since I bought TvsT it seems like even a shrub can stop your Tiger dead in it's tracks!I already mentioned that problem to Zee as part of the things that need to be fixed but only once and after the important stuff has been addressed and taken care of. Hi Guys,
I have tell you that this new German mission 3 is going to be ruff!
I figured I would re-work it a little and add a few new tweaked files to the
common folder along with the new German mission 4. Oh, and a little tweak
to the tree files :haha:
I have added a new Tiger Unit script to prepare for the new Tiger model I
am working on too. This way you can choose which Tiger to command, the Stock or the New.:know:
This method of adding another playerunit script will make the new model
easier to adopt in the game as well as not requiring all the mission content scripts to be edited(less chance of screw-ups).
Well it's that time again here at the TreeWolf den.:rotfl2:

Hi ZW and members
These are very good news. Sure ZW i will try your new Tiger I no doubt about it. I know it is or will be much better than the old one.
Are my men visible inside tank? Or is it to early to implement them because of low fps?
I realized this tree effect too with my tank against a tree. Now with trees tweaked i will be a perfect gardner with my Tiger I.:haha:

Wow!! lets see it. Less screw ups will mean more missions to concentrate on. :yeah:
Thank you ZW and dont hurry. We all know your efforts.

LC :shucks:
Zee what's special about the new Tiger model? Is it one of the latest versions of the Ausf.H?I know some versions carried up to 120 shells instead of the usual 92.
Zee; could you perhaps test my idea of shrinking the size of your mission area may be by half( 5 sq. km instead of 11) to see if it makes a significant difference in the fps count?I must say that I don't find the in game maps very useful. The briefing maps at at the beginning of a selected mission before you click on start are better. The problem with the in game ones is that your map size are so huge and the area we actually use during a given mission so small by comparison that it' s really difficult to track where we are and where the friendlies and enemies are. It's my own opinion and others may disagree.
Anyway lots of good stuff coming up our way :O:thanks to you.Mr Wolfman.
Lc stop thinking about the trees you're going to miss the improvements to the game again!!!! Ahhhh when it's not the Panzerinen it's the trees!!!!:D

I must agree 100% with you frinic. I thought about it but didnt mentioned, thought i would be the only one.:hmmm:
The area is too huge, this eats to much resources, fps. With scaling the map down, i am really sure to increase performance. This can lead to that way, that ZW does not have to cancel 100 of tanks and artillery units.
As a Beta tester this is my opinion, itmay be a soloution wich may be preferred or not.:hmmm:
Lc stop thinking about the trees you're going to miss the improvements to the game again!!!! Ahhhh when it's not the Panzerinen it's the trees!!!!:D
Frinic, you didnt realised that i am no more thinking about these trees, i am focused on that new Tiger model with the new antenna.:haha:
So Herr frinic thought about our logo but i have found one wich is easier to install
:rotfl2: hey, its pink too

LC
Lc you´re thinking about the new Tiger ????:hmmm:I´ll have to check it, I suspect the mannschaft must be all female.....
Well Lc pleased that we are thinking along the same lines( I am talking about the map size not the female crews:D).I also suspect that the fact that the original TvsT missions are played on fairly small maps(4 sq km???) compared to Zee´s which are 4 to 6 times bigger has to have a definite impact on the fpsd.Besides huge maps are nice but since we only use but a fraction of them they can be split into different zones where different , sequnetial missions could take place thus they would not be wasted. What do you think Zee????

Hi Zee like the sound of mission 3
I thought about what Frinic and Lc proposed, and if it were not for the performance issues I found in the re-worked missions (i.e. NOT Kursk) I would tend to agree.
But where there are lots of units and heavy action I found (note the first german mission - Tigers Shake Kurtinki patched to Pre Kursk Alpha) the FPS goes way down in the first encounter. So the point I make is some of these have smaller maps and maybe not the amount of scale of ops found in the Kursk mission but FPS issues are still present.
This compares to Kurskv.6 (light PC loading) where there are lots of units both friendly and enemy and heavy action AND a big map.
I think downsizing the map to say the size of german mission 1 (Tigers Shake K) MAY improve the FPS but only by say 1FPS.
Only my opinion and I may be way off, but for most PCs I think gain may be minimal.
Anyway I'd love to be wrong (Mrs Panzer Commander always says I am as you're all probably well aware).
Hanging in there and hope to be wrong!!

Hello Kameraden,
frinik, LC and Mort of course your interest in finding solutions is very helpful.
Although the logic is good :know: concerning the large maps - but when applied
the results are not in agreement with that logic. :o
So, Mort is correct, the FPS is not dramatic enough to warrant a change
in map size. There is a definite combination of events that can only be
accessed through code. Even as far as we have come there is still allot
more to learn and discover in the ways to improve performance.
Believe this or not: I have yet to understand a majority of TvsT's code.
There still has been no work done in some important areas of this sim .
Areas that demand time and experimentation. One for example is the TIME
change capability i.e. 2x 4x 8x normal speed. This area [TIME] will unlock
the ability to better understand fps issue.
It has been 10 months since the ability to import the first working
fully animated tank (KV-85) in the game. When viewed from the point of
where we're at now I have to say the work on the FPS issue has just began.
It was the first part of April when this issue really became an obstacle to
progress. Therefore became a real target for my full attention.
This challenge should not be viewed as anymore difficult then the other
break through discoveries made to date.
So Kameraden, yes my work is cut out for me and I say Vorwärts!

Hi Panzermänner,
ZW i am very pleased of your kindness and understanding concerning us members, our suggestions and TvTs code. This makes teamwork much easier. I really appreciate this. Thank you.
One thing you really have to know is that i am not a programmer, i do not understand (in this case) TvTs code. So this can lead to unserious, wrong (or the other way around) suggestions but we all are trying the best. It is right when you see a way were i am impossible. Therefore correcting me in any way is always welcome.
The other thing what i read in your answer is that you are really convinced to solve problems with low fps. So there is a way to master it but this takes time as you are at the beginng to understand the code. :yeah:
See you all later or on weekend

:sunny:Lc don't be harsh on yourself, Herrn PanzerKommandant :yeah:.There's no such things as silly, ridiculous or wrong ideas on this forum( Hem ...).No seriously sometimes brainstorming, coming up with ideas as farfetched or unpractical as they may look can bring about positive change/solutions. I think Zee would rather have an active and interested audience/ membership of people who want to help, as mistaken we may be at times, than a group of amorphic, uniterested people who will not give him the time of day unless asked for:D.
So let's keep bringing suggestions with the only proviso of course that the suggestions have not already been proposed and discarded before.
Anyway as in anything a third party opinion is always useful because soemtimes we are so engrossed in what we do that we don't see the obvious.I am sure Zee agrees with me !

All right, i know that brainstorming can lead to differtent ways :hmmm: maybe silly or not. Hopefully this low fps will be bugged out as soon as possible. Nothing is better to see my Tigers running , not retreating.

ZeeWolf you've dragged this sim up and given us all a massive amount of hope. Even with FPS issues we can see the potential.
If you could cover everything with snow and take all the leaves off the trees you could get another 8FPS I reckon :har:
Not for a summer campaign I might add!!
Seriously - I don't think any of us expected you to rewrite the whole programme.
BTW - I found a bug?? anomoly anyway,
Perhaps Frinic will kindly look out for it if he gets time, to confirm what I and Lc have found.
I call it "Tigers in the sky"! The installation of Kurskv.6 light affected me by altering the behaviour of the second Tiger in Two Russian missions Simaskovo Recon and Tiger Trap, also Second German mission attack on Beskudnikovo (spelling??).
The Pre kursk Alpha installation was fine.
In these Kursk v.6 (light) 3 missions the second Tiger appears to be elevated (no ground detail underneath) and looks suspended. This checks out at mission end when you use the tab key to check other units. In Tiger Trap I got "shot" early (deliberately) then used the tab to check the German column that hadn't departed/activated yet. The rear Tiger appeared some 8 metres in the air!
this apparent elevation worstens if the mission progresses.
In the second German mission the second Tiger starts out OK but ends up elevated.
Lc has confirmed that he has the same result as me with the Russian Tiger Trap mission, and is checking others.
I'm sure this can be cured if a common fault - but thought I would point it out to see if anyone else has this problem?
Zee I don't expect you to drop everything because this has not been definately confirmed yet so please don't. You have enough to do.
It just may be a couple of us with this problem - possibly needs re-installing?? Would really appreciate anyone else's comment on this particular anomoly to compare. Anyway definately more checking required here.

I found it mort!
The issue was the change to the "DefaultSurfaceControl" in the Tiger tanks
Unit file "TankPzVIAusfEUnit.script" .
During the testing for the swamp effect I changed Default Surface Control
from "PutonGroundLandingJoints" to "None".
The stock missions use the same Tiger script for player and AI
so that would explain why (in stock missions) the AI Tiger looked like it was
above ground. It simply stayed at the same height from it's start location.
The goal is to make AI units strictly AI and not both AI and Player controlled.
This may not make sense now but when I start work on the Multi-Player ability it will.

Zee ,Morty ,I have had the same experience with flying Tigers( like commandant Chennault???)but only with Kursk mission 1.At one pòint some of the Tigers ahead of me in the mad race to the Sov posiitons would start flyinh up in the air as if tossed and then simply fall back to the ground.I suspect it´s low fps issue which creates "mirages:D".On the other hand I haven´t replayed Beskudnikovo( the stock mission bores me totally)but I have replayed Zee´s Tigers Shake Kurtenki, Hill 500, Tigers Breakout and Defending Simshkovo without any of the flying Tiger effect. But for these missions my fps are from 8.8 to 22.

Hi Lazarus905,
before mentioning things like that read the whole blog. You have a lot to read. ZW never said or wrote that his mod is obligatory and it is not only a MOD as you think, read everything. I know everybody has the right to say his arguments but before i will do this i have to have proofs for such statements but would never title somebody with that. You have the chance to contact ZW and questioning himself.
ZW and we members are at the beginning of a new project made by ZW himself. Without him BELIEVE me TvT would be death and you have spend money for nothing. This might be out of mind (its my opinion). And the most important thing is if you sell something i do not think you would comp something when it is your own hard made product.
Secondly after the release of TvT have you seen support? I didnt think so. Every little bug we members or ZW finds, he is right here to help us anytime. No comment from him , he is doing it to make the best sim out of TvT. HE IS A ONE MAN COMPANY.

What about redoing the existing Soviet missions?
What about the other 3 German missions that haven't been reworked mission 2, 4 and 5.
Would it not mean less work to rework existing misisons rather than do new ones right away?Would it be possible to run one into a night mission with flares etc?
Also without seeing your Kursk maps it might be difficult for us to suggest new missions.

Zee great you spotted the flying tigers and proposed a fix.
I've just had some issues with a new laptop (i use my laptop to get on the internet and we're not friends yet :damn:. I think I've cracked the antivirus conflicts (after 2 re-installs!!) so I sympathise with your MoBo RAM problem. But here I am (despite my efforts not because of them BTW :haha:)
I would agree with Frinic about reworked missions even a few tweaks and corrections!!
For a new mission suggestion I read about Major Sauvant's Tigers taking the village of Butyrki - savage Tiger action.
or
the battle for Cherkasskoye where the Soviets had a triple trench line, Grossdeutschland Tiger Company supported by MkIV & MkIII Panthers and assault guns effected a breach and were in front of the village at 09.15. They started at 05.00 from near a village called Butovo (5 July 1943). Just some ideas!

By the way Lazarus is fully entitled to be " in his mind" just as we all are happy to be "out of ours" :88) so if we don't mind he doesn't matter.
All the Best - Mort
PS Lazarus check all posts and screen shots you're getting a "new" game!
You and frinik are right I want to keep things in order and of course that means working smart.
the mission ideas were more for an interesting discussion not for something to start on new on my part.
That would be a great topic for a new thread mort. Guys could tell war stories that inspire
interest and at the same time educate us on some great battles for future
scenarios.
The battle for Cherkasskoye for instance was one I considered before I
chose the LSSAH 13th Panzer Regiment. Cherkasskoye - had it all man the
elite GrossDeutschland GrnDiv, Tigers and Panthers SturmUnits Panzer II- IVs .
A huge number of German armor concentrated on Cherkasskoye.
And of course I would love doing it too if it were not for the FPS issues.
But Major Sauvant's Tigers taking the village of Butyrki - savage
Tiger action may be something very interesting Morti :yep:
Cheers

PS: Lazarus in the bible was raised from the dead - kinda like TvsT :D

First I'd like to say... there is a extreme amount of work that made up this update and it shows! Wicked :D
One of my few problems is that I keep getting stuck in the mud it seems when I'm tring to keep my tank driving straight or is this just my driving?
I have an older rig with a AMD 57 FX cpu and 7800 graphic cards in SLI and 3gigs of ram... and so far I'm keeping up well with the game frame rate. It's been about 4-6 so far during game play and that is with the settings up in high and using 1400/900 resolution. One thing I did tried out was a program called Game Booster... saw it posted at one of the forums and gave it a try. Game play seems a bit smoother now and I got a 1-2 frame rate increase going by Frap's.
So far have to say I'm impressed... just need a few more missions now for my eager crew! :yeah:

Hi Woofie! Thanks for the interesting tip.
Could you give us more details about tthe Game Booster Programme?Where do we get it?How is ti installed? Is it specific to one game only c or does it apply to all the games you have installed on a desktop or laptop( I assume it works for laptops too?)

It's a very simple program that gives you a list of programs running on your computer and it lets you pick and shut down unnecessary programs... afterwards you can simply turn them back on with the same program. It also has a defrag opition that you can use to defrag the game files. You can select any game on your computer whether C file or external drive files. Not sure about a laptop... don't have one. LoL I installed it in my C files and as I stated it real easy to use and install.

We made some tests with Prioaff. With ZWs help we could start it and test it in the game. There was a blog were i wrote about my experiences. With that tool we also got 1.2 fps more but this didnt solve the problem with low fps. But as ZW mentioned this wil be buged out sooner or later.

Lost nearly all my "houses" couldnt take a bath!:wah:
My tank is harder to steer. Is this what you wanted? Turns harder left or right.
Now you have your gardener!!!!!:yeah: No stalls for my tank when ramming trees!! Wunderbar.
The enemie AI which had to outflank the German forces will not! Intended? They stood there and didnt move until i arrived and knocked them out. May be the have to attack!!!:06:
Thanks alot much improvment.

Hey Guys :DL
I found a program for all who have a 64bit system that I think you should
give it a try. It's called "4gb_patch.exe"
It patches the the way TvsT.exe handles RAM. I check it out with my Hex
editor and it dose allot of work on the *.exe plus it backs-up the original
file for you. And of course it is very easy to use.
Although I ran the patched file on my 32bit system (with no problems) it

Hallo Kamerad LC,
I e-mailed the fellow who wrote the 4gbit patch and asked him if he could
wright us a patch so tvt could access more than one CPU. :DL But he said
no.
Oh well, it didn't hurt to ask him , but his answer hurt.

Well, what we need and I am surprised somebody in Silicon Valley or Europe or Japan/Korea/Taiwan has not come up with soem kind of plug-in device that would boost your fps rate by say 40%.I know there are external graphic cards( unfortunately only designed for the Fujitsu-Siemens brand of laptops) , external hard disks and all kind of often more or less useful gizmo on the market but nobody has come up with such a device. When you think how huge the gaming market is(US $ 150 billion and growing at 11% a year) and how international ( no longer restricted to Europe and North America. Asia, Eastern Europe and LatAm are catching up fast))it has become there's tons of money to be made by inventing a thing like that!.
I don't want to sound dismissive of 4gigpatch or prioaff but frankly this is small potatoes.Giving a 1 or 2 fps boost to a game that need to run at 20 to 30 is like putting a plaster on limb that has been chopped off!:stare:

confident in Daniel's ability to create a performance patch for PC Sims and

Incidentally when I read stories like this I just wonder how could they manage to obtain fuel and ammo considering how chaotic and disrupted Germany was in the last 6 weeks of the war?
LC,Morty I have travelled and lived in Eastern Europe and believe me Russian, Belarussian, Ukrainian and Polish etc women are absolutely stunning:o

Finally the Jagdtiger was one useless Sp vehicle the Germans could have done without.Compared to the Jagdpanther, the Hetzer or Jagdpanzer it was just slow, gas guzzling, too large to cross bridges and just a good target for allies jabos. It's combat record was dismal. For the price of building 1 JT they could have built 4 useful Stug IVs instead.Another loony idea along with the Ratte and Maus.

Your ZugFuehrer will report to the front in the new German mission 4 battle ready.:salute:
Meanwhile the young guys can look forward to their fifties, it's where amazing things start to happen. Like women who you thought looked kinda like Sasquash start to look pretty good. But frinik I have to agree - those Russian gals are BEAUTIFUL! and sweet as honey too.
And yes your Karl Koerner story is another account that is amazing. The bombing of Germany in the last few months of the war was an act of wanton death and destruction designed as a "Red Carpet" for the Morguenthou Plan. Witch to this day the former allies of the Soviet Union deny ever being implemented. So determined were the Red Armies allies in the killing as many Germans the original scientists in the US who worked on the A-bomb was hoping for their invention to be used on the Fatherland.
So along with all those merciless fire bombings on the women and children of Germany they wanted the A-Bomb to be their "Cherry on top"
so-to-speak. And yet the men of Germany fought on.
Sometimes I become discouraged and think it will take a thousand years for the truth to come out. But I take courage from the fact that it is the truth that will stand forever not lies.

The same was with the Königstiger (i like that monster very much), too much fuel consumtion, troubles with the road wheels and gearbox etc. So the Köti had the same problems, i mentioned that i wouldnt point on the advantages and disadvantages of the tanks ( i know them very well) but i like the JT with all of its disadvantages and today you can find only 3 examples of them. When reading the stories of the 653rd and 512th s.Pz.Jg.Abt. the JTs were feared to the end of the war by American forces. The JT was mainly used on the WF.I saw a video when some JTs surrenderd at Iserlohn. It is really a superb video.
So as ZW knows i like tanks/destroyers (like the Jagdpanther späte Ausf.) in the last stages of WWII (1944-1945). Not only German, Allied tanks too.
BTW frinic, you know very much, so if i have a question may i relay on you?

Lc please go ahead with your question I´ll be pleased to answer it to the best of my abilities.:yeah:
Your wife is Hungarian? Good solid allies of Germany in both World Wars.Still very close to Germany and Austria.
Zee it´s true that the carpet bombings of the last few months of the war were useless and unjustified howver to the credit of the Americans it was the British led by the infamous Bomber Harris who with their night raids did most of the damage to the civilian populaiton. The Americans focussed on dau , precise( relatively) bombings against industrial and logistical targets and they really ground German industrial capacity and transportation to a halt. Amongst the cause ofr German defeat along with Hitler´s attack on the Soviet Union and distrastrous war leadership the US precision bombings as well as their industrial might really won the war for the allies. They systematically deprived Germany of synthetic fuel, ball bearings, railway transportation and choked the war effort. Without their bombings Germany might have lasted another year or two.The Soviet manpower was as well a major cause of defeat bleeding Germany of its manpower and war material....British contribution was secondary but important. However it must be said tha Germany started the ball with the irresponsible bombings of Amsterdam and England in 1940-41.No matter what the A bomb scientists (many were Jews and had no reasons to feel any kindness for Nazi Germany) would have wanted the US gov would not have used the A Bomb against Germany. For various reasons, racial( it´s one thing against Japanese Asians whom they really hated), the risk of atomic contamination of POWs and slabe labour and friendly neighbouring countries but also because they knew the Germans had hiuge stocklpile of lethal poisons gas , sarin, tabun etc which the German could have effectively used in retaliation with V1s or V2s against the UK or US forces in Europe causing huge casualties. The Allies knew about thta threat and took it seriously..Not to forget that 1 in very 4 American has German or Austrian roots.
Germans are no quitters, its part of the history of Germany to be clobbered(Roman occupation, the black plague, the wars of reformaiton, the peasant wars, the 30 years war( 1-3 of German population died. The Rheinland had to be repopulated by Swiss German settlers) the French wars of the XVII and XVIII th centuries, Napoleonic invasion, both World wars etc have thought the Germans to be tenacious. I know it because I have German( Prussian) blood and I don´t give up easily and never without a tough fight:shucks:.Adversity breeds toughness!
Lc I saw the doc about the surrender of the Jagdtigers in Iserlohn on you tube it looked like a family reunion more than a surrender!Civilians were lining up and waiving at the panzer crews and the Americans looked relaxed more like a friendly gathering than a formal surrender.Still I manitain that the Jagdtiger was a very unwise vehicle for a country fighting with fuel and ammo shortages, logistical disruptions, lack of experienced crews, numerical disavantages and absolutely no air support on the contrary ....I´d be curious to see how many tanks did they destroy?
Cheers

Hi Frinic so my first question.
I know it is not about Kursk battle but i am interested in the Puma Sd.Kfz 234/2 with 50mm Pak. Can you tell me wich SS Unit used them and in the Ardennes do you can "show" me what kind of markings esp. Turmnummer they used?
Were some of them used in the Kursk battle too?
Thanx a lot for your help

http://germandressdaggers.com/Panzer%20Menu.htm
http://germandressdaggers.com/Panzer%20Section%20Divisional%20markings%20Stug%20 Brigade%201.htm
101 units of the 234/2 produced were distributed as follows:
-Panzer Lehr Div. (1 Kompanie/PzAufkAbt 130): 25 units. Painted in dark yellow and without numerals or crosses.
- 2 PzDiv (1.Kompanie/PzAufkAbt 2): 25 units. Some of its vehicles seem painted dark yellow without any marking (not even license plates) but a small trident and the Aufklärungs insignia, both on the front of the hull, at the left. Others, like the well knwon 111 carried 3 tone camo, crosses and numerals.
- 1 SSPzDiv (SSPzAufkAbt 1): 16 units. painted in dark yellow with camo, probably 3 tone. They also carried crosses and numerals (3 digits)
- 20 PzDiv ( PzAufkAbt 20): 16 units. There is a photo of a Puma white washed, in Silesia.
- 7 PzDiv (1Kompanie/ PzAufkAbt 7): 6 units
- 13 PzDiv: not known.

Hi All,
I haven't played a tank sim since Panzer Elite Special Edition; except, for the buggy T72 Balkans on Fire. I was really looking forward to T34 vs. Tiger, but read the reviews, and didn't want to buy another unfinished sim.
I have a high-end system, and am enjoying Flaming Cliffs 2.0. Great Upgrade! Well worth the money! http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1671&scr=default
However, I am a tanker at heart.
I need a good tank sim. I just want to know if this is this worth buying. Will it work for my system?
I don't have T34 vs. Tiger. I would have to buy it, and then donate to the honorable and hardworking mod community.
I don't have a lot of money to throw around these days, but as I said I need a good tank sim. Steel Beasts graphics just don't do it for me. Plus, I like WWII tanks.
Here are my specs:
Asus P6T7
Gigabyte 3 x GTX 285
Creative Fatality 1 Titanium Champion Series
Intel 920 OC @ 3.7 (air cooled)
LG W3000h monitor
Corsair Dominator 1600 12 GB kit
I would appreciate any advice for someone who wants a great tank sim, but doesn't want an, expensive, unfinished project that might not work well.
I respect the work being done here, and would gladly spend money for a finished working sim of this genre. I’ve read through the posts, but would like specific advice relating to my system. Plus, I’m hoping for any new input that might encourage me to purchase this product and support the community.
Gentleman! - Your advice! - Please!

Welcome to the forum Dung_Beetle:salute:
I think that with 3 x GTX 285's you maybe won't have a problem running it?
I only have 1 and have seen good frame rates.
Seeing as Lighthouse have gone under, there is always the chance to pick it up very cheaply, thereby keeping costs down.ZeeWolf's mod isn't the cheapest I have ever seen, about the price of an average game maybe, but the guy is making improvements to a tank sim that it seems a lot of people want.
Steel Fury didn't do it for me,I have Steel Beasts Pro PE but the graphics are too simple, although for realism it can't be beaten.
I've said this before, and apart from one video on Youtube,we need some footage of Kursk! I always find that some decent footage of a game I want will always have me reaching for my wallet!
Lc both Panzer Lehr and 1st SS Panzer division fielded Puma scout cars with the 50mm gun during Wacht am Rhein( Watch on the Rhine or the Battle of the Bulge).1st SS had 6 and PL also had a handful.I'll try to find the markings and turmnummer(numbers on the turret).
Dung_Beetle check the threads on thr forum for what Kursk and ZeeWolf's work on TvsT has to offer.I think the price is wotrth paying for all the goodies we are getting and going to get. Otherwise WWII-wise there's only Steel Fury with various modswhich I play and like .

Hi woofiedog,
really this is fantastic. You helped me very much. Again thank you. Now i have a lot of information about the Puma. These are very good sites for me. I really enjoy them. :yeah:
ZW!
I thought about the future missions. How about (in Kursk, in France or Ardennes, you mentioned to do in the future something like this) to make a recon mission to find the best way for our tanks, to determine enemies strength etc. Its only a suggestion and its not important to implement recon vehicles and missions, it was only a thought.
Cheers and have a nice day

Frinic,
great information too. I am interested in Wacht am Rhein as i mentioned in earlier blogs i was in La Gleize, Coo, Trois Ponts. This would be cool if you were able to found some Turmnummern for these Panzerdivisionen. I followed the route wich Obersturmbannführer Peiper took and were he left behind his "whole Regiment " at the evening of Christmas day.
What i found were the KÖTIs Turmnummern, Commanders and their last place. ( abondoned, destroyed etc.)
If i am right Peiper rode on a Panther. Here, it is very hard to find about those Panthers. I know for sure that 3 of them had the Steel road wheels, #221 was abondoned in La Gleize.
About the Pumas its difficult ti find something.
Thanks a lot for your efforts

Thanks Zee I am a very inneficient (Panzer) Helmsman now - thanks for the new promotion. :haha:
Having played the new Mission No3 (excellent concur with Frinic's comments) I play with headphones and so am now deaf!!!:wah: also didn't get through the latest Kursk mission twice (nothing new here!) due to tracks shot away!
Small request for future missions :hmmm: will it be possible to have a couple of hanomags trailling behind the spearhead that might repair/reload you in these circumstances?? If too difficult don't worry!
I also find during a lot of activity where FPS drop really low (say 5.2 for example) when I swap views from external (F6) or commander's external normal view and go to Commanders external or internal "BINOCULAR" view the FPS roll up by approx 4/5 FPS which is really helpful if the action is getting jerky. May help others get a better experience during these occasions.
Zee, Lc & Frinic - Thanks for letting me know what I'm missing with Beautiful Eastern European Ladies. Zee said even "Yeti lookers" start to get attractive when you reach 50; but I find now I'm over 60 it's anything with a pulse :har:
BTW I think Dung Beetle should sell one of his Graphics cards and buy both TvsT and Steel Fury. I quite like SF, true it's not a heavyweight but its a well done, polished and rounded game with not many bugs.
Lc - I too like the accounts of the Battle of the Bulge and the photo I have is Peiper and his driver Zwigert in what looks like a Kubelwagon - not a Panther:haha:
All the best - Mort:salute:

Hi Lc, I drafted a message for you yesterday with some info and then then internet crashed before I was able to send it and the internet was on and off for the remainder of the day( that's for living in the so-called Mecca of IT outsourcing. If only people knew!!!!).:nope:
I was able to find a pics of a PUma which was part of gruppe Knittel with marking 028 on the turret.Other sites said that most Puma had been repainted white for better camo and thus the numbers had been covered.Only a couple were left with their camo ; tiger stripes on sand-coloured background.Another site said that most of the Pumas used in the Ardennes were those that survived the Normandy disaster and consequently had the same numerals. There are good books with pics of the Puma(Osprey) but you can't access them online.
What's your interest in those small wheeled vehicles LC????
BTW there 's modern Puma which is beingn used by the Bundeswehr like there's a modern day Marder which is being retired .
KampfGruppe Peiper had Panthers G, Tiger IIs, Panzer IVs( presumably G H or J versions. I think Peiper himself drove around in a Kuebelwagen as mentioned by Morty. If he had to use a tank he would probably pick the Panther.

duty.

I now feel totally inadequate :wah: closely matching Mrs Panzer Commander's view of me!!! 3 GPUs AND a 30inch screen you must get neck ache scanning unless your chair is located in the garden :haha:
No - I'm only jealous :wah:
Looking forward to Mission 4 - BTW I will survive; (like Gloria Gaynor) because I can select "Immortality" :D No No it's cheating I won't really :shifty:
I don't know what mount Peiper favoured, Frinic's right he used to drive around to recon for his spearhead/offensive during the Ardennes offensive but it's interesting - I'll see what I can find. I remember when Jane's WW2 fighters was released, being a little more than interested in that particular offensive the game was a gift for me when released. I had to get a Voodoo 2 card to play it!! I got some great news from DCS (Digital Combat Simulations). I emailed them if they are planning to building some tank models like T90C, Challenger, M1A2 Abrams, and Leopard II. They replied it's in the works, but no release date is set yet. They said all above models would be included.

Sorry about your job although the World economy seems to be picking up.Hopefully you'll have a stab at one in the near future after, of course ,having lots of hours to play tank sims:03:.

No problems Frinick I am not offended. Look at the specs on the P6T7. It handles 3 large video cards well, and a sound card to boot. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813131390
It has two NF200 that doubles the number lanes on available on the board to 72 lanes. You could have 2 x GTX 295 for quad SLI. This board is 3-way SLI ready.
I love it! I'm running all programs 2560 x 1600 full settings in high temps 50's, 60's. The only thing that runs my cards hot is the Napoleon & Empires Total War Series. I'm running low 70's with those games.
Am I dreaming or is this really the specs that you have on your rig?
running:
i7-920 processor,
windows 7-64bit,
6Gb Gskill Trident ram,
3xBFG GTX 260 in SLI,
2x1.5Tb WD sata drives.
3 gigs of hard disk???? Each GTX 260 has probably 1 gig of dedicated graphic /video memory so we are talking about 3 gigs of total dedicated video memory!!!! Your rig is a Tiger II while the rest of us are still driving Panzer IIIs:o
WOW when I see the resolutions and FPS you're getting I am flabbergasted!!!!!Mind you I would hate to see your electricity bills because 3 high end graphic cards must require a lot of juice. Not to mention that you probably need a couple of cooling fans or pads to stop your pc from overheating!!!!
When I think I am happy playing Steel Fury missions with anywhere from 12 to 26 fps at 1280 X 768 resolution and other games I can't pass 40 fps....And Tvst best case scenario I get 25 fps with the stock missions and with Zee's mods anywhere from 4.6 to 11 fps.....
This is great fior you, and us and ZeeWolf because once you join our merry club you'll be a Beta Tester for sure and we'll get an idea of what a super-boosted rocket -type rig like your can achieve with Zee's mods.If you get 30 fps with his mods on then you'll be on top of the hill!
You seem to be playing mostly RTS . It's great to jump into the world of sims because it gives you the concrete feel of a battlefield whereas RTS give you more the abstract or impersonal side of it.
Best of luck job-wise!:yeah:

Thanks Frinic I will look out for your PM message it's not appeared yet.
Unlike you I only speak one language (but badly). I am getting slightly annoyed I didn't upgrade the right machine!! My new notebook is Uber but I got it for internet usage, ------
So now I can Download all Zees updates at the speed of light and then transfer them to my "gaming Rig" and play them at 5 FPS plus :wah:
I think I got the upgrade back to front.
BTW If I had a Voodoo card now it would mean I had to stick pins in my eyes to get the graphics!!!
Onward and upward

Frinik merci,

Frinik thank you,
but Zee has given me only the basic mod with Russian mission 1, the german mission 1 and 6 I just finished, for me it looks good:
I have a motherboard Asus Rampage Formula, Corsair 4GB RAM, 5 TB of HDD, Intel E8600 CPU, graphics card ati hd 4870
I see that forests are much denser, that the maps are bigger and the textures are much improved. I had a real pleasure to play these missions, it gives a very pronounced taste again, If you look in the folder "textures", there is a file called: u_ger_number_Priscalan.tex. That was my tag for multi players with Fightclan including myself. You can edit the files *. tex with xnview (here for story)
I look forward now that I Zeewolf other files and it rolls ...

It's just not in the budget for this month, next month, I hope:damn:
I got some great news from DCS (Digital Combat Simulations). I emailed them if they are planning to building some tank models like T90C, Challenger, M1A2 Abrams, and Leopard II. They replied it's in the works, but no release date is set yet. They said all above models would be included.
Earlier, in this post, I mentioned, that DCS would be making a tank simulator. I have been corrected by DCS. They will be adding the above tank models to there flight sims. They have no plans on making a tank simulator.:wah:

- Hard Disk Drive: 10 (2 usb2, 2 ide, 6 Sata) = 4.7 Tb
- Joystick: Saîtek X52

It's all :|\\
Priscalan, your microprocessor is very good! 3.3 ghtz that´s what you need to run the games smoothly! At 512 MBS your graphic card is also good enough! My GC is a bit better than yours but my microprocessor is only 2.0 ghtz which explains why ZeeWolf´s mods give me low fps and will run fine for you.Try stopping your antivirus while you play your games it should give you even higher fps...

DCS is Digital Combat Simulation http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/
They are the producers of LockOn and Ka-50 Black Shark. They just released an excellant update for LockOn called Flaming Cliffs 2. http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1671&scr=default
They are both excellant sims with a great community. They work very well on new and old systems. I love their work. They are old school sims, the kind with a 400 page manual, and are really state of the art.
My card has 1GB. What about the GTX 480?

If I were buying a new system today. I would do the same, but upgrade to:

Video: 3 x GTX 480
Otherwise the same.

Sorry DB I was asking Priscalan aboiut his video card memory capacity. I don´t know what the GTX 480 has 1.5 gbs dedicated????
I would personally go for the ATI Radeon HD 4870 crossfire( x 2) 4 gbs of dedicated memory but that will come eventually...
At this rate it won´t be long before they come up with gcs with 3, 4 or even 5 gbs of dedicated memory....3 years ago a 1 gb graphic card would make people go WOW! Now it´s routine...

The fps in the new German mission 4 is heavy but nothing like Kursk Mission
1. However the best thing when fps is low is to stay in the tank and drive
from the Commanders seat looking through F5 view. I have become convinced
that the changing views and seats while your tank is traveling takes the most
power and directly contributes to the swamp effect. The swamp effect is an
simple indicator that your system lacks enough power in CPU and GPU.
Having said all that the New German Mission 4 is very playable through the
entire mission.

DB I also play Panzer Elite.Yeah that´s right you have those little buggers in the OstPak when you start the South of Prokhorovska mission it´s usually the first one that gets taken out by my Tiger....BTW the BT5s too are toughies in SF I remember having to shoot them repeatedly with 75 mm shells. In general Soviet tanks were tough cookies....
Priscalan, tu en as de la chance tu vas pouvoir jouer la mission nocturne:cry:.En plus tu dois avoir un sacre bon pc.Quelle est la puissance de ta carte graphique?
ZEE any chance we can get that 3rd Soviet night mission???? Nothing more romantic than serenading T34s with 88mm shells by the moonlight;)

The $60.00 membership gets you everything from the beginning to Jan- 31-2011.
The download size will be 275mgs for the Foundation file and under 10mgs
for each mission. And sometimes a major Update of 30mgs. So, you should
be ok once the Foundation file is installed.
And there is no gouging here the 1 year membership covers it all. No more money is required or will be asked for.

I see, that you use too speedtree software to modify the trees :yeah:. what version?
Priscalan this is great if you get to master the mission editor you can create new user-made missions or give ZeeWolf a hand!I won´t try though looks too complicated. Playing with Steel Fury´s mission editor is keeping me busy enough anyway.
Zee, to second DB´s request do you think it would be possible to introduce a couple of new playable tanks, one for each side? WE could vote amongst the members to decide which two.I would vote for the Panther( any Ausfuehrung) on the German side and the KV85 or JS3 on the Soviet one.
DB, I doubt introducing monsters like the Maus or Ratte would be feasible. Also as a matter of historical accuracy these monsters never made it past either the wood mock-up stage or blueprints. They never saw any action and best case scenario would either never have been built( lack of fuel, spare parts etc) or built not before June or July 1945 had the war not finished before. On the other hand, the Jagdtiger might be possible although I would myself much prefer the Jagdpanther. My opinion for what it´s worth...:dead:

Yes frinik I plan on some new playable Tanks. The JS2 and the new Tiger E1
1942. Then once I learn how to do it right I will be more certain about others. However I am very anxious to get back to modeling again. My detailed drawing's library is really huge and the necessity to build the common objects, trucks and buildings etc. is also huge.

Yes it would but I have been focusing on performance issues and graphics.
The Kv 1 and KV-85 are not powerful enough (Weapons wise) to be a candidate for playable at this point. Of course my focus on 1943 is still the
aim for the "Project ZeeWolf" custom missions but that leaves the USSR
missions hanging in limbo so-to-speak. A powerful tank is needed for the
guys who like to play on the Soviet side with half a chance against our
beloved Tiger E1. Therefore the choas (as it seems) will start to make
more since now the most mundane things have been successfully worked
out (and figured out).:know:
During the work on the playable aspect I will be able to address the range
accuracy issue and learn first hand on what is required for custom interiors

After destroying all the enemy armor continue the withdrawal order.
You can find the location on the map before the mission starts. Become
familiar with it before starting your mission. Following the orders given in
the map screen is part of the mission. And once you reach a certain point
the mission will end in success.

OK, I've had a little time to play this Sim. It's running pretty well for me. decent frame rates at really low temps. I've got some questions.
Is there anyway to control wingman? Does multi-player work?
I can't seem to climb hills off-road with the tiger very well, or that's just the nature of the beast?
Does project ZeeWolf, add wingman control, and or, improve multi-player?
DB, there's no control over your wingmen in TvsT whether in the original game nor in ZeeWolf's mods. However ZeeWolf has managed to dramatically improve the AI behaviour to the point that your wingmen now actively support you in battle and in some cases just rush forward and leave you with the mop up.There's no more of the erratic and passive behaviour as you have with the original game.
TvsT was originally conceived as primarily a multi player sim. Which is why the stock missions are not very elaborate and limited in number.ZeeWolf's releases and mods/missions are for single player use. However as a collateral effect ,his improvements to the game, making it stable and erasing the bugs have indirectly helped the MP side of it. There are threads on this forum which specifically concern muliplay. There are mods MPP 3 to 5 which have been made by Murkz and others for MP( improving sounds of Tiger engine, of gun, adjusting reload rates of Tiger and T34 guns to real life specs etc).Check the past threads going back to 2008 and 2009 and you'll find those that deal with TvsT in MP.

Well guys I've fixed the Gun site Range issue.
This is a test shot at 1000 meters
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ZW_Gunsite_Fix_1.jpg
Using the 10 meter scale, set at 1000 meters from the center of the Tiger. I set the
range at 1000 and fired one Pz.Gr.39-1 shot.
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ZW_Gunsite_Fix_2.jpg
Close look at the hit
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ZW_Gunsite_Fix_3.jpg
Now the same process at 2000 meters
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ZW_Gunsite_Fix_4.jpg
at 2000 meters the accuracy is very good.
http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k442/autopilot_2008/ZW_Gunsite_Fix_5.jpg
Now notice the 4meter Carot triangles set at 1000 meters against the 10 meter scale.

DB
That's a interesting question DB. The absolute start was when I was a very
young boy with an interest in playing little army. That developed into a wide
range of hobbies and historical discoveries that added fuel to the fire so-to-
speak, that morphed it to a serious interest into WWII. Having grown up in
a generation that was able to listen to first hand account of at that time
was young WWII vets of my fathers age. They would come by, drink beer
with my dad and tell war stories. Of course as a kid very few would be talking directly to me
or even be in the same room for that matter but I listened and absorbed.
As a boy I would hear why we went to war with Japan but not with Germany. And that was my beginning.
As for my adult work I am a machinist by trade and a computer geek by
choice and still a boy with questions at heart.

Is there a zoom for the gun sight
Is there anyway to have a short range view, intermediate view, and long range view?
Is there any automated repair time for tank?
In Panzer Elite there were 3 views so if you were, parked in the bushes, waiting to ambush. You could hit either intermediate or long range, and you could look past the shrubs in front of your gun sight or binoculars. At least, that's the way I remember it. I notice with this Sim, I knock over a tree, and try to hide in the branches, but I can't see my target through the foliage. So, I have to use AI gunner, or put myself in the open to be gunner.

Thank you DB,
No zoom on the gun site, but the possibility for a zoom on the binoculars.
Have not focused on what all is required yet but that is a common feature
in any standard set of binoculars so it's on the list.
Next time foliage blocks your gun site try looking through the commanders
copula and line up the target by eye, that can be fun. :DL
Yes, repair is available for tank damage if you are within 20meters of a repair vehicle(that's not destroyed) which you will also be reloaded.

Yeah that is typical. You see T vs T's missions are written is Java script and
therefore needs compiling of the scripts each time it runs a mission. The
result is binary files in the Cache folder. And here lies the conflict that is
most common. Now the other cause of this conflict is residual data in memory :yep:
that can be a source. But the clearing the Cache folder and/or after a
runtime error just start the program again clears it up.

Well Folks I had good and bad news:
The good news my graphic card a Nvidia GTX 230 is 2gigabytes dedicated instead of 1 gbs as I expected.:yeah:
The bad news is that the computer( an Acer) has been configured and I need a user name and password thus I'll have to call in the company to be able to get one to be able to use my new rig :wah:
Otherwise my other specs an Intel i7 860 processor with 2.8 gigahertz speed, 8 gigabytes of RAM , 2 gbs of dedicated graphic memory ddr2 and 1 terabyte(1000 gigabytes:D) of Hard disk space along with an Acer 24 '" inch screen with 2 built in 2watts speakers.... Stop drooling guys!:88).
All that for a very good price. I recommend the company; it's NCIX a US-based electronics wholesaler.
DB I can't compete with your 3 graphic cards but check your mirror I am right behind you on your tail;)...

Glad you got your new system Ok Frinic.
When I got my new ASUS notebook I had to enter the user name and password myself before it would activate. Note: I actually skipped the password bit as I will be the only user. Meaning really Mrs Panzer Commander is a bit of a computer numpty!!:haha: unlike me of course !!:har:
Win 7 seems keen to "help" you configure stuff but I found it a trifle dumbed down as you aren't expected to think ahead and anticipate any changes and settings! Hope you didn't get any preinstalled anti virus like I did. Gave me some problems until I got it all uninstalled and all traces removed. Overall though not too bad.
Nice processor you've got, I have an i5 but I think my "weak spot is the HDD speed of 5400rpm not 7200rpm. Balance that against my GPU with 1Gb of ram and its DDR3 and I've found Steel fury runs like a watch. I might try and see how TvsT runs on this later as an experiment. I really envy your screen size of 24inches - monster!
Like you I am installing and uninstalling stuff and checking backups. I will get rid of all the pre foundation issue stuff as it's confusing looking back through it all when you need any re-installs.
Best of luck let us all know how it runs the games! ATB - Morty

Now the T34 Gun site is much more accurate then stock. Change also
the Gun site magnification so long distance targets have greater clarity.

You are killing me with this mod ZeeWolf. It looks great! :salute:
I've just been playing with the Tiger, and trying to get comfortable with it. The T34 feels natural to me; that is what I commanded mostly in Panzer Elite. I usually ran with 3 x T34/85 & 2 x Su122. That platoon configuration worked best for me.
I was wondering ZeeWolf if the PZ_mod is compatible with stock for multiplayer?:06:
Where do you guys play online?:06:

The T34 has a better feel to it I agree but that is primarily due to less
attention to the tiger. I am working on improving the Tiger in every respect
first major change will com in a new Tiger model that will have a far better
exterior look when commanding and better textures etc. A new T34 85 is coming to that will replace the stock one.
As for multi-player that will be way down the road and any mods that are
not Project ZeeWolf mods will not work - non are compatible. That is highly
stressed. I am aware that can be a deal killer for some but that is ok,
this can not be a sim for everyone and be true to my vision, which is a WWII Tank simulation with a emphasis on as close to real as I can get.
Best regards, :salute:

Hi DB! Yes that blinding falsh of light are my high beams in your side mirrors....:D
Thanks for the info on the speakers.I'll defintely check it out. Nothing like realistic sound when playing. Can't wait to see my wife, kids and cat hitting the floor every time a shell crashes near my tank:arrgh!:.
Re multi player my advice to you is to have another, separate instal of TvsT with only the stock missions and instal the MPP5 ( multi player improvement mod I have been talking about). That wya you'll avoid incompatibility with ZW's mods.Contact Murkz( or PM him) .I know he checks the forum and he is the lead when it comes to MP play.I know they use Habachi for MP as it works far better than the game ranger system that comes with the game. I also know that German groups such as NSU and Francophone and Spanish groups as well. Since all of them use English as a common language and organise intra-groups macthes you could try googling to see how to join them.NSu has a dedicated website in both German and English

Just got to update the bios, and you'd be ready for that X980.:yeah: Then with a GTX480 you could just slip into the next gear, and pass me bye.:haha:

I know they use Habachi for MP as it works far better than the game ranger system that comes with the game.
Just to clarify, it's GameSpy Arcade that comes with the game and is completely broken (and presumably Hamachi that you're referring to).
I did add T34 vs Tiger support to GameRanger a little later after its release, which was being used by some groups, but there was a limit to how much I could do without the support of the game developer due to UI bugs in the game.

I don't see any smoke options available in TvsT. Having a smoke screen is an essential tactic.:hmmm:
Are the maps more sophisticated in Project_ZW?:06:
Don't get me wrong there is a lot to love in this sim, but so much essential stuff has been left out.:-?
wingman commands
large scale maps
smoke options
zoom
tank variety
vehicle variety
multi-core support would be nice
ZeeWolf, can't you buy the wrights to the game, rework it, and resell it.:rotfl2:
Db don't worry about the RMA which stands for remanufactured????May be you are right.I spent 2 frustrating hours with Acer support based in India,.Another glory of outsourcing....:dead:.In the end couldn't make the computer start so they'll have to send me a recovery disk( for free they said as if it were some kind of freebie I ought to be grateful for:down:).Som another 2 to 3 weeks before I get.Meanwhile a brand new machine sitting idle.....It's like buying a Mercedes then being told Oh by the way we 'll mail the keys to you.Expect to wait another 3 weeks before you can drive your car GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....
Ok enough grumbling and ranting.Re Tvst yes it's hamachi not habachi.I don't play MP so couldn't remember.I also installed the MMp 5.0 before having Zee's mod and I also loved the sounds and the better reload rates.
As I said Tvst was an orphan until Good Papa Zee came along and adopted him. This shows that not all Wolves eat poor little orphans unlike in the fairy tales....:D
This is why after playing TvsT fervently for 6 to 7 months after I bought it I just dropped it as it was flawed and without support.I started playing and enjoying Steel Fury which had everything Tvst ddin't have atmosphere, good AI, variety mods, and full support from its' developers.
This is also why I bought into Zee Wolf's project because he had adopted that game.
MP-wise it might be wise to contact Murkz as he is very active in multi play. There was also Monkwarrior, a Belgian guy who co developed the MMP3 to 5 mods and unfortunately died a couple of months ago.
Anyway I am sure you can find other players in MP>
Once my rig is up and running we will do tank races...:sunny:

Sorry to hear your bad start, very frustrating, I also had a few glitches and had to re-install the Asus installed Win7 prog. I backed up the reinstall on DVD in case of future problems and it took FOUR yes 4 discs!!!. Damn thing (Win7 home) comes with MS Office that you have to "buy" an activation key to enable - I didn't, so it bloats the system unnecessarily I think!!
Looks like they are reverting you back to square one with a recovery disc. Hopefuly this will sort the problem and you will be able to enter your own details yourself after recovery - best of luck mate.

You have to escort the column, after you take out their immediate threat.
When you see the valley off the road on your left take it to move concealed until close enough to blast them.
ZeeWolf
Zee I tried that tactic ( escorting the column) and I alwys ended up destroyed. My own experience form playing that mission hundreds of times( I am not exaggerating)is that it's best to back your Tiger next to the left log cabin right behind where you start the mission and take the T34s coming to the left and front and then move forward a bit until you see those 2 T34s - ambushed to the far right -waiting for the column to pass on the road.I take them out from a distance and then deal with the last 2 remaining T34/76 concealed in a sort of depression further up to the left. It's the only way I have been able to complete the mission successfully.I am talking, of course, about the stock TvsT Hill 500 mission not the one nicely modified by ZW's mods

DB once you buy into ZeeWolf's mod you'll see how HIll 500 is changed. Before youi can onyl count on yourself as your fellow German tanks/SP guns are inept and get killed in the few few minutes of the mission leaving you pretty much alone to deal with 15 or so Sov.tanks and SUs.Once you install ZW's mods it changes the behaviour of the AI which means your fellow German AI is active and kills a lot of the Soviet AI.Leaving you with fairly few targets and much less pressure. You get the mission successful fairly routinely whereas in the stock game you have to rally find the magic recipe and be lucky or uncannily accurate in your shooting to make it through the mission. The change in AI behaviour applies to all missions once ZW mods are installed

Thanks frinik,
I wish you could customize the loadouts; that would help a lot in missions like this. I can't kill anything with that o365 crap. 7 direct hits before I got lucky, and hit the fuel tank on a T34/85
I can't wait till have some cash to buy ZeeWolfs mod. ZeeWolf you could possibly sell more units; if you sold it for $20.00. I remember my economics class example of the motel; that sold 1 room for $120.00 and sold 5 rooms for $80.00. It was some crap like that, but the point is more units sold brings in more gross income; which yields higer profits.
Not that your stuff isn't worth $60.00, but there are probably a lot of people like me who want to buy it, but just can't afford it, yet.
O365???You're shooting T34s with Soviet shells????You mean Panzergranate 39:06:.... But it's not the shells that are ineffective int he stck game. It's the tanks that are not up to real data specs. My suspicion is because TvsT was primarily intended as a multi player game the developpers decided to balance the tanks to make them more or less even so not everybody would pick the Tiger. So what they did is decrease the reload rate of the Tiger( which MPP5 addressed by increasing it based on real data.) and somehow they either decreased the strength or thickness of the Tiger armour or increased that of the T34 to balance the odds and make the game more even.Once you have ZeeWolf's mod installed you'll see the difference; you'll kill those T34s with one or 2 shots instead of 3,4 5 as now.
Re Zee's fee .I can't speak for him but remember it's a one man enterprise. He'd rather have less members and charge more than reduce the price and have hundreds or thousands of people depending on him.Plus by charging more he is sifting or selecting his members. He figures that if you are willing to pay his fee you must be committed and truly interested in the game. Not necessarily a bad decision.:sunny:

100's or 1000's x $60.00. I bet ZeeWolf would like to see that kind of money coming in. Also, a large fan base would help with the work.
I am definetly a tanker at heart, but, really, seriously, can't afford it, yet. It's just not in the cards for me. So, he is also blocking truly dedicated people from joining. Just my thoughts, jealous of all you ZW_modders. driving around in your fancy tanks.:rotfl2:
DB none of us is a modder. We are just dedicated members .We help him but in a limited way by providing feedback and acting as testers when we have pcs that actually can play his mods-releases with sufficient specs.
As for the fee better ask him because he´s the one who decides and I am just assuming that for the time being he prefers having a limited member base rather thna going all out for a huge crowd which would overtax his physical resources.:yep:
I run 2 forms of the game on my Machines. First is Zeewolfs, and then a stock copy with Monks MMP Mod 5.0. Monks incorporates the better engine sounds, correct load-outs, gears and trajectories for each tank. I never had a problem beating Hill 500, but I never hide in the gullies, I sit on top of the hill to the left, which gives me a full view of the battlefield, just have to make each shot count, as you can run out of ammo fast, and then you never get the 2 sissies hiding in the far gully.
I tried hiding behind that hill or even on top of it, hiding behind the trees and after killing 5 or 6 tanks I would end up being killed thanks to the X ray vision of the AI in the stock game.Once or twice I managed to finish the mission successfully by backi ng my Tiger all the way back to the thicket of woods just behind that road and then circling back around it to kill that last 2 tanks however I did not manage to save the whole convoy.Another time I sat behind a small ridge in front of a log cabin to the right of where you start the game and concealed by a shrub I klled 11 tanks and 3 of the 4 SUs stationed atop that buff .But I got clobbered and a managed to survive 13 hits. Did not get the 2 tanks hiding in that ravine as my Tiger was crippled but still got , surprisingly, a mission ended successfully message.
I wish there was a way to make a video of that mission, as to show ya what I do. After I found out on the last stock mission to let the first colum pass by, I actually finish that one also, so many tricks to this game, and without each others suggestions, no wonder this game had a hard time catching on with others. Daunting unless you know what to do, and when.

Yes truly this is a luxury when you're out of work.I sincerely hope you can find gainful employment soon.
As for those who work and complain about the price I say how much does it cost you to fill your car tank?In the States probably close to $ 60 depending on the vehicle you drive. In Western Europe even more close to double.Just to drive around and then once the fuel has been used soemtimes after barely 2 weeks you have to pay another similar amount!!!! With ZeeWolf's mod for that price you get a game that remains with you for months or years to enjoy.Or go to the cinema these days and how much you pay for a film, parking fees, popcorn and soft drink for just 2 hours of entertainment. When it comes to money it's a matter of priorities.

textures. So if you have any images of tree types that should be in an area
of operation please let me see them. Or any SpeedTree CAD files that you want in the game let me check them out. The adding of SpeedTree files
needs to be build from existing T34vsTiger trees but the parameters and
textures can be easily adopted.

Well done Zeewolf, :salute:
I would love to help but all I need to understand the editor. Could you give me a leaflet. some elements are not implemented in, and the study of the editor in a language that is not mine is very long ...:hmmm:
Zee I didn't know you had found a new outlet for your talents? Landscaping? How about opening your own nursery????:D
So it's Tree 34 versus Tiger again....
I think it would be nice to have a variety of trees. It seems that the trees are exclusively pine trees and evergreens in the game. As Operation Bagration, on which TvsT is based, took place mostly in Belarus( then Bielorussia) and Northern Ukraine I think trees species native to those areas like birches, maples, ash trees, willows, poplars, oaks etc would be nice to add a bit of variety to the landscapes.

:haha: I like that frinik,
Of course the tree issue is no small enhancement for future plans in two
important categories, one is new battlefield locations and two is seasonal
change. This is one area I really was counting on opening up. The extent
however goes beyond anything I had hoped for, truly an amazing level
of scope and artistic quality now can be archived. A very good thing
And thanks Priscalan, cridit goes to you for the inspiration.

Success on Hill 500
OK, here is how I did it:
1. I put my Tiger in VIII gear, and at close to 40 mph; I take my tiger up the NW valley. I drive through the 3 oncoming T34's with my barrel pointed in the 6 o'clock position. As soon as I pass them I stop, and kill them at point-blank range.
2. I proceed up the hill, and Blast the Su85's.
3. I take out the next wave of 3 T34's coming out of the NW valley.
4. I drove over the hill with the smoked SU85's, and come out behind the
2 T34's in the N valley.
5. I creep up on the 2 T34's sitting on the road where the column was heading. Needless to say the column was collateral damage.
And yes I have way too much time on my hands:rotfl2:

Sure DB it's easy for you to do with 3 graphic cards working in sync those T34 have no time to shoot or catch up with you...:D
We on the other hand with lesser specs have to plough the fields to get there.
I guess you were driving automatic otherwise you would have burnt your engine....
It's good to have time on your hands later when you get a job you'll be missing those precious free moments.Enjoy them while they last!:yeah:

I swaggered out there quickly, and shut off the engine, before switching to the gunner position. I didn't know there was an automatic in the Tiger.:o
It's a poor carpenter who blames his tools, frinik.:rotfl2:
Yes DB check your menu and your press a key( I can't remember which one since I have set up my game to drive automatic). Then you start the engine, just switch gears and then you simply steer your tank while staying in external view(F6).Whatever sim I play I like to drive in automatic and look at the landscape while peering for enemy tanks...:shucks:

Hi, Zeewolf
Is it possible to implement a range estimation feature where your tank commander in outside binocular view can right-click on a target and it displays a range to the target. In reality the tank commander inform the gunner of the range, so if this feature is possible to implement, it would increase the realism even more, and help save expending ammo ranging for the target. Just a suggestion. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Jaggy, I intend to eliminate the commanders range calls and move to training to range find like the Germans did it in a separate training mission. They used the lens reticule that had triangles that aided in range calculation I will provide more info on this later so you will see what I mean. Cheers ZeeWolf

Hi Zee like the idea of seasonal changes in landscape for the future anyway - v.nice.
I'm hanging around --- but not idly!! Mrs PC has made me decorate the house. A project avoided for 9 years but now retired I've been caught in the barbed wire :wah: So I get a games fix now and then, between coats of paint.
Still listening out though!!

Paintbrush in one hand and brain in the other!! just wanted to say I liked the new May missions especially the mass attack, my downside as others found (German Mission 4) was lowest FPS was 3.4 (very stuttery) improved when I switched views to commanders F5 but it was a bit heavy for my PC until a few T34s and SP guns had been "harvested". Nice change to be able to enjoy some night action, would think any difficult missions would be checkmated by limitations in graphics for "player" targetting though. Nice to see the Tigers "earthbound" and not elevated like we're viewing the game after eating "Magic mushrooms".
I knew Lc would be about in that night mission - he never sleeps. :haha:
You will notice I'm late commenting on the May missions but it would be out of character to be anything else now!!
BTW Zee my little Gal ain't so little anymore and she ain't no Gal either - BUT she's all mine :wah:

:haha: Poor Morty!
The full moon is part of the Sky image used. The technical part is the
aligning the the Sky image with the light direction and the color adjustment
of the fog and light as well as intensity settings. Easy as painting by numbers. :DL

Hey Guys
I did take a few days off but I back in full production.
I solved a couple of issues, one was the AI Tigers moving with destroyed
track and the other was a mistake I did with the Missions Menu.
Also I've been digging up battle details that involved Tigers that will be the
bases of new Campaigns and missions. This research has taken a solid week
of some real fun stuff. Things like locating the digital elevation data the
will be used to create the new maps that will make the terrain as authentic
as possible. And of course maps and unit histories that I will incorporate
at a playable level and still attempt to hold true to the event.
There is a strong possibility that the first winter battle will take place in
February 44 at Korsun west of Chercassy. A ferocious battle that I am
still doing research on that is sure to be awesome. There it said the JS-2s
attacked in numbers. So that's something to look forward to.
The Kursk Mission #2 is coming along nicely and you are sure to notice a
few changes, for instance the swamp effect it just about a thing of the past
but will still dog the slower computers. The FPS are less of an issue in this
mission compared to #1.
Meanwhile I will keep you posted on it's completion with some more screen
shots.
Cheers:salute:

DB MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I like their camo very ...natural, very simple. But I am afraid the only shells these 2 have ever seen are those you comb on a beach and as for the tanks only those used for scuba diving. Thanks for the thought though!:D
Good news Zee about Cherkassy-Korsun.Is it when you are going to introduce the IS(JS)2 as a playable tank? Not a bad tank if you make exception of the low shell load( 28 including only 8 AT ones), the abysmal reload rate( 3 shots a minute) and the terrible Soviet optics...:smug:

Cherkassy-Korsun is still in the very first stage of development but I would
like to have the JS-2 (AI) included for sure. The work on playable units has had a low priority while I work on and improve on the exiting Playable units
and terrain and all else that needs the ZW touch so-to-speak :DL

Glad you like the art from Gauguin. It was Gauguin that went to the South Pacific. He was friends with Vincent Van Gogh.
They were from the 19th century, and I think Leonardo da Vinci & Michelangelo were from the 15th century.:know:

Don't forget Arno Brekker the one I would say comes close in skill to Angelo.
Of course he's on the mandatory "Hate list" for being a Nazi. But I don't
care about his politics I think he was a fantastic artist.

Hi DB, I know Gauguin was the one who went from Brtittany to the South Pacific where he allegedly fathered several children with local Tahitian women. As a French Impressionist he lived in the mid to late 19th century and I think he died in the early 1900s.Da Vinci straddled both the 15th and 16th century while MichelAngelo lived in the 16tH. I find the Impressionists a bit too focussed on the aesthetic too lofty a times I prefer the Pointillists or Divisionists, as they are also called, like Signac, Seurat and Cross. Now a Tiger tank painted by Seurat would have been fantastic....
Arno Brekker was a good artist unfortunately he was conscripted into making those pseudo classical statues and art that Hitler seem to favour.Hitler wanted to build a new Rome and he succeeded but unfortunately for Germany it was the Rome destroyed by the Vandals that Hitler bequested to the German people.

Hi Panzerkameraden,
first of all i am back. I am very often at my gym manipulator. Now its 3 weeks ago and i have thrown away my crutches. It s a kind of freedom after being 3 months in a kind of imprissionment. I can go outside and sniffing into the world. I know i am humbling but this doesnt mater. Now i am free. Cool.
I read a little bit what happend here in the forum. ZW i must say i am very pleased by that May release. It is really fún and you have made a great job.
Looking at the other shots taken from "your" game is a real improvment in any sence and case made by your hard work. Looking forward but if you do so much nice envirionment it is possible for me to forget the battle crawling outside my tank a make a sight, i mean treeseeing.
Very nice sunrise.
Just one question. What about fps? Any improvments?
For all tankers a nice week
