I think GWX3 Gold have been may be the best mod available to SH3 , this kind of modification to bring the Silent Hunter game as close to the reality as possible require a lot of work , dedication and care about the details , therefore I think the GWX team are waiting for the release of SH5 to work with the latest update of the Silent Hunter series and dont make all this efford to SH4 and later repeat all the work again for SH5

This was quoted as a SH4 project, before the announcement of the collapse of GWX's plans to do anything for SH4, due to the announcement of SH5. SH5 though, has already the engine rooms built in for current hardware limits.

Just a wild guess, but the game could be rendering some faces with the hull texture when they should be transparent...? I get this problem sometimes when I'm modding ships. If that's the problem, setting the material ID of the troublesome faces to "hole" in Wings3d or a similar program should resolve it - once designated with the texture "hole", the game will read the distorted faces as invisible.
Again, this is just a guess - sorry if it doesn't help.

Das ist echt zum Mäuse melken,
es ist hauptsächlich bei Gespiegelten Objekten,
oder alles was sich auf der linken Seite befindet, wenn man den Blauen Aggregat ansieht.
Ich habe es geschafft nach 20mahl das Dach Korrekt zu bekommen.
aber die Ursache habe ich nicht gefunden warum er beim Backe die Polygone
umschmeißt.
Gibt es eine Möglichkeit in S3D ( Skwasjer ) zu Spiegeln.
dann könnte ich die rechte Seite mit S3D Spiegeln.
Heut habe ich etwas herausgefunden !!
Ich vermute das die 1 ID , die einzige ist, die richtig um transformiert
Ich werde versuchen alle linken Modelle über die ID 1 zu backen.
dann habe ich fest gestellt das Max die ID15 ständig umschmeißt und das Bild nie in der Richtigen Position ist.

did you move the object after import? then saved it. if so thats the problem

if you export the 3d model again, then tell it to transform to polly, it will fix the tri faces, so they look correct.

On that object, the model needs to be cleaned up, as it has lots of excess geometry. I think part of your problem is also using 'optimise' when you export. Your model is very very small in dimensions - I normally model at 1000 times the scale required and scale it down to 0.001 when I export. When you export with optimise on, the exporter combines all close vertices together. The problem with this is:
Your model has in some places two planes almost back to back, sort of like a shell, so that when you optimise, the game welds all the vertices together and it gets it all wrong. You get vertices welded to triangle that are facing completely the wrong way and this causes all the black triangles. Where a triangle is welded to a triangle that is pointing the other way, this causes the graduation of to black towards that vertex. It also doesn't bake out on the AO map properly either and you are not using the texture as efficiently as possible.
To see the problem with your model, select the LU_ID9 model collection, attach them all together and convert them to an Editable Poly. Select vertex mode and then select all the vertices. Click on the Weld dialog button and selecte weld threshold of 0.0 - You will see that the model shape does not change, but the triangle count will fall by about 3,000 triangles - meaning that you have excess geometry that is all overlapping itself.
Check this as well in S3D - The ENGIN ROOM_LU_09 node will probably have much less triangles (about 3,000 less) as the optimise will have collapsed them all onto each other. So the problem is two fold, the excess geometry is causing the AO map to not bake properly, also the optimise is making you lose control of your model, your model needs to be stripped of the excess geometry and finally the automatic texture mapping for the AO channel 2 is too spaced out.
There's a lot of work to do!

The best I graph I get the texture map type (NORMAL / BUMP).
Now I had to frighten the established there the red light does not work.
So I had all the skin on Ambient Occlusion switch.
Then I noticed that all the interior was too dark.
So I had all the pictures (skins) make it lighter and more effective gotten not of course the beautiful reflections,
but the pictures are sharp.
Whay does the red light not work at (Normal / Bump)
Anyone here know a simple trick .. or I have 900 -1000 image enhancement, and brighten...damn Work !!

I know, but I meant something this "used" if you will. Flakmonkeys Interior is really impressive, but it just feels so empty and bleak.

periscope does not correct ( interior) .

The real questions are - If it is possible export/import these animations. How much effort is required to make these crew animations in SHIV and is it really worth the effort?
If a Crew animation tool is created, I think both SHIII and SHIV would soon have animated crew walking around the boat interiors/exteriors.
Edit:
In Silent Hunter III I have seen animations of guards and dock workers walking around so I know this is possible.
Seeing that SHIII/SHIV do not use waypoints, animations would be static and customised for specific interior spaces.
Event Triggers could be use to initiate animations.
From what I have seen, SHIII has the best interior crew animations.

The title of this thread is:
"3D torpedo-room: Any modder interested in finishing it"
94 pages later, 1400+ posts, the release of SH5, and the question still begs.
You have a lot of fans out there, we love your work so please reward our curiosity with at least a timeline or end date - unless I missed the thread that announced it but at least tell us when you are going to finish so we are not left dangling.
Maybe the modder should have put less work into the details. From all the intermediate screenshots it looked like there are a lot of details that would hardly be noticeable from the running game and even if you notice them once or twice, you really need to ask yourself whether they add so much to the game that they are worth putting all the effort in.
I'm not saying that Tomi needs to do it this way or that way - after all it is his project and his hobby and he can do it as he likes. But to actually release something within a reasonable timeframe, he should have probably have been a bit less ambitious.

I just stumbled across this and with over 1400 posts on this I haven't looked thru them all, so excuse me for the question. Is it possible, and or, is anyone working on this to get it set up for SH5. This one of the most awesome mods I've seen in a long time. :yeah: :salute:

Are we going to see this in the near future? The sim is already going online and sh4 is fast becoming a distant memory to a lot of us (witness the lack of interest in the sh4 forum) please release this(or at least a beta of it) soon or you will have no one left to admire your work.

The beautiful in SH4 is that you can use in the Shader in the Different variations.
Therefore, one can create his own mood in the boat.
These pictures were taken on an XP machine made GForce GTX 260 Nvidia graphics card .
the game is quite well.
And 3D-Stereo / Vision (NVIDIA) effects .. just fantastic ..go through the whole submarine .. with the correct depth setting..Impressing!

out where you hear the piston slap and makes a Authentic-Sound backdrop with failed ignition .

Now I'm practicing porting things from SH3 / 4 to SH5 by making my mod. I hope, that one day I will see this hiper-realistic interior in SH5... but, while I was testing this interior on my computer... my Radeon HD 4890 almost exploded!

Yes. We haven't heard anything for awhile, but while Tomi may go back and do other boats it does take him a huge amount of time and work just to do this one type. It's been a few years now and this one still isn't done, so a Type VII or IX is a long way in the future, if ever.

SH4 still has a great engine which allows for hi-res textures and fast rendering
when things are optimized.
